AOC Unveils Its New 25-Inch WQHD Monitor

If you’re looking for a monitor that offers a resolution higher than 1080p yet lower than 4K, then you should probably have a look at this new AOC offering. The Q2577PWQ is a high-quality monitor that features an IPS LCD panel with a native WQHD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution, which makes it perfect for gaming or working. Measuring in at 25-inches, the product utilizes a non-PWM brightness adjustment method, which means that it does not produce those awful flickers that damage our eyes.
As far as connectivity is concerned, we should definitely mention the pair of USB 2.0 ports and the two USB 3.0 downstream ports. Video input is ensured by a HDMI port, DVI, D-SUB and DisplayPort, while the audio output is based on a pair of built-in 2W stereo speakers. The panel flaunts a response time of 5 ms as well as a maximum brightness of 350 cd/m², dynamic mega contrast ratio and 178°/178° viewing angles. To make things even better, AOC fitted the display onto a versatile stand that allows the user to rotate it to 90° in order to achieve portrait mode.
The AOC Q2577PWQ will use up a maximum of 55W of power, and while there’s no word on its official price tag just yet, we do know that it will become available for purchase in August.
Thank you TechPowerUp for providing us with this information.

AOC joins the budget 4K party with its 28" U2870VQE

AOC announced its new U2870VQE 28" 4K display today, at a budget-friendly suggested price of $349. The display features a matte, eight-bit TN panel with frame-rate control dithering (FRC), good for an effective 10 bits of color depth, or 1.07 billion colors. The panel also boasts a 1ms response time and 300 cd/m2 maximum brightness.
The U2870VQE has plenty of connectivity options, including DisplayPort, mini Display Port, HDMI, and VGA. AOC curiously doesn't provide version support info for any of the display's digital inputs. The HDMI port supports Mobile High-Definition Link (MHL) to allow input from some smartphones and tablets. The included stand only supports tilt adjustments, but the monitor is compatible with 100-mm VESA mounts.
A 10-bit panel is a little unusual in this price range, and AOC does mention professionals on a budget as one potential market for this display, but the lack of gamut coverage info seems at odds with that market segment. It'd be interesting to see how this monitor conforms to sRGB or Adobe RGB after calibration. For those eager to take the plunge, the U2870VE is available today at Micro Center.

    BenQ Adds SW2700PT For Photographers

BenQ is launching a 27in monitor aimed at professional photographers and for those that require colour pricise work. The monitor comes feature-packed with a 27”QHD (2560x1440) display, 99% Adobe RGB color space, IPS technology, hardware calibration,14bit 3D Look Up Table (LUT), Delta E≤2, Palette Master calibration software, ambient light-blocking shading hood, OSD controller and Black-and-White Mode.
"Every photographer dreams of capturing that singular image, a sliver of time that will never happen again. What if you could isolate the unique magic in every moment? The SW2700PT is designed to effortlessly and accurately showcase the creative vision of professional photographers, enhancing and empowering the visual stories they communicate. With unprecedented colour accuracy, attention to precise detail and user-friendliness, the SW2700PT creates colours so true that it brings out the un-reproducible essence of every photo, whether taken by a seasoned pro or amateur hobbyist."
The Adobe RGB color space enables the SW2700PT to display a larger range in shades of blue and green, reproducing more precise color representations for nature photography. The 14bit 3D Look Up Table (LUT) improves RGB color blending accuracy for exceptional color reproduction, while Delta E≤2 in both Adobe RGB and sRGB color spaces offer the truest view of the original image.

Hardware calibration allows users to adjust the SW2700PT’s 14bit 3D Look Up Table (LUT) directly without altering graphics card output data, ensuring that every photo is smoothly and consistently displayed just as it was taken. The SW2700PT comes with BenQ’s proprietary Palette Master calibration software, which can be used with a calibrator to optimize the color performance of the display. The monitor is compatible with X-rite and Datacolor professional color calibration utilities.

Discerning eyes will marvel at the SW2700PT’s attention to image detail. Every photographic image can be viewed with stunning clarity, definition and accuracy on this QHD (2560x1440) display. With nearly 77% more working space than a standard Full HD display, users can see more of the image they are editing with the incredible detail. The monitor is intelligently designed to give users complete convenience when viewing and editing photos. The monitor’s detachable shading hood blocks ambient light that can often distort a user’s color perception. The OSD controller puts management of the display setting in the users’ hands with three preset buttons, allowing customization of display settings for various applications, such as Adobe RGB, sRGB and Black-and-White mode. Users can simply switch between the presets with a click of a button instead of going through complicated settings. The button on the OSD controller offers quick navigation of OSD function settings. Last but not least, Black-and-White Mode allows users to review and edit black-and-white photos without losing any detail or tone. By previewing color photos in black and white before editing, users can save significant time lost to guesswork and trial-and-error.

The SW2700PT will be released first in America, Europe and Asia Pacific in July, 2015

Acer G247HYU, ASUS VX24AH and BenQ BL2410PT review: WQHD on 24-inch

    Introduction

More pixels on the same surface for more work space and a sharper image - that's what 24 inch 'wide quad hd' or WQHD-displays promise us. We have now tested three models with those attributes, produced by Acer, ASUS and BenQ. The panel we used is the same, but the results certainly are not.
For years, the 2560x1440 resolution was only available on 27-inch screens. This also used to be the highest resolution for your desktop, except for the 16:10 counterpart with 2560x1600 pixels. Meanwhile, Ultra HD is the norm when you really want a lot of pixels, but this doesn't make WQHD superfluous.

    Acer G247HYU
Specifically for a smaller diagonal screen size, UHD isn't useful for a lot of applications, because the software doesn't scale well under Windows. There has been some progress lately, but mainly with older applications, the pixel density of 184 ppi isn't suitable. WGHD lands at 122 ppi, not much higher than the 110 ppi of a 27-inch screen with this resolution. Even when scaling isn't optimal, one can work well with a screen with this resolution.

    ASUS VX24AH
Moreover, many graphics cards can't run games smoothly in '4K', but WQHD is for an increasing amount of cards a feasible option. Especially with a somewhat smaller diagonal screen size, you can 'economize' on anti-aliasing, because of the smaller pixels. For all non-3D-applications, it's a fact that the 70% higher resolution grants a larger, pleasant amount of workspace compared to Full HD.

    BenQ BL2420PT
In short, there is much to say in favor of this resolution, especially for relatively smaller screens - relatively, because 24-inch still is an agreeable size. For many people even simply big enough. We have now tested three screens with a diagonal size of 23,8 inch and 2560x1440 pixels, the Acer G247HYU, the ASUS VX24AH and the BenQ BL2420PT. Unfortunately, Dell's model, the ultra-popular UltraSharp U2515H (which actually utilizes a different panel) still didn't reach us yet, so we will have to keep it out of the equasion.

Philips to show off 34-inch curved UltraWide Quad HD display at IFA

Philips has already assembled its product portfolio for the upcoming IFA Berlin show from 4th to 9th September. The firm has written to HEXUS today with details of the first Philips brand curved monitor and a range of displays that will employ Quantum Dot technology, providing brilliant colours.
Philips 34-inch curved UltraWide Quad HD display
Philips has been uncharacteristically slow in implementing one of the latest 'buzz' technologies becoming widespread in the monitor market. However, now it has announced its first curved screen monitor. Pictured below.

The first curved Philips monitor isn't going to do things by half, it will be a 34-inch display and offer the UltraWide Quad HD resolution (3440 x 1440 pixels) plus wide viewing angles. Philips designers have furnished the front of the monitor with edge-to-edge glass and an ultra-narrow border.
    Quantum Dot Colour
Quantum dot technology is known to facilitate a wider range of colour reproduction in monitors. Philips has now announced that it will show off a range of quantum dot monitors at IFA. It has announced it will premiere a 27-inch IPS-ADS Adobe RGB display with Quantum Dot Colour IQ at IFA in September.

Philips reminds us that thanks to the nature of QDs users will benefit from "over 50 per cent more colour than traditional LEDs" whilst being much cheaper than comparable colour-critical monitor technologies. Furthermore QD monitos are energy efficient and Philips says that its new monitor uses 25 per cent less energy.
    Other IFA product announcements
Philips Displays has a couple more new monitor products it wants to promote at IFA. The company will begin to roll out its SoftBlue technology to reduce eye fatigue without impacting colour reproduction. This technique of "eliminating emissions of blue light at harmful wavelengths while retaining the fidelity and quality of the original colour," will debut in a 24-inch monitor model.
The Ambiglow Plus Base will also debut in Europe at IFA. This product creates a halo of light on and around a monitor base, which syncs with the display image. It can also be adjusted for colour and brightness while the monitor is turned off – to provide room ambience.

Philips Displays will be exhibiting in Hall 22 at IFA Berlin, from 4th until 9th September 2015.

    BenQ GW2765HT 27-inch monitor

BenQ’s latest mid-range monitor is a 27-inch 1440p screen with an IPS flicker-free panel. It’s suitable for most general tasks, with excellent picture quality and a bright screen. It should be fine for working at the computer, watching movies and web browsing. And with a low response time of 4ms, it’s great for gaming too. Along with a good feature set and excellent colour reproduction, the GW2765HT looks like a worthy investment, considering its relatively attractive price.
The GW2765HT is a 27-inch 16:9 IPS display that offers a large QHD (also referred to as WQHD) (2,560 x 1,440) resolution. Its feature set and specification make it a good all-rounder for general computing use, with a 4ms response time that’s fine for gaming, along with 350-nit brightness and 178-degree viewing angles, which should mean excellent picture quality on the Windows desktop.
It has a pair of built-in 1w speakers too, along with a stand that supports tilt and pivot modes, not to mention a decent range of inputs. The panel is also flicker-free, with a ‘Low Blue Light’ mode, which are both handy features if you suffer from eyestrain from continual computer use.
Great colour reproduction is something we’re now seeing on more affordable screens, whereas it used to be restricted to more high-end displays. But BenQ also quotes impressive colour accuracy figures, with 100 per cent sRGB coverage and 10-bit colour depth, great to see on a display that’s priced under £300.
A reasonable price with both good picture quality and the potential for superb all-round performance means the GW2765HT looks like a display that’s well suited for just about any situation.
    BenQ GW2765HT features:

    • Great Color Monitor with IPS Technology Panel & 100% sRGB.
    • 27” Big Screen and 2560×1440 QHD(WQHD) High Resolution.
    • Flicker-free Backlight for Visual Pleasure.
    • Low Blue Light Mode.
    • Ergo Monitor – HAS.

    AOC launches U3277PQU and U3277PQU 32-inch high-res monitors

AOC has launched two new 81.3 cm (32-inch) displays with ultra-high-definition (UHD) and quad high definition (QHD) resolutions.
he AOC U3277PQU with its 3840 x 2160 pixel AHVA-IPS panel and the AOC Q3277PQU with its 2560 x 1440 AMVA panel combine high resolutions and an extra-large screen size in order to provide power home users, photographers, designers and other professionals with highly detailed images and additional desktop real estate, said a statement from the company.

The U3277PQU boasts an AHVA-IPS panel with a 4K UHD resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels, which is four times as much as a standard Full HD panel. This photos, text, videos, games and other content displayed on the monitor appear considerably sharper and more detailed. Even Full HD video material can be upscaled to look notably crisper on the UHD display, said the statement.

Users without a modern 4K compatible graphics card can still get brilliant high-resolution images with the Q3277PQU and its QHD AMVA panel, it added. The QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels offers a vastly improved pixel density over Full HD monitors of the same size. Both of the new models cover 100 per cent of the sRGB colour gamut (8-bit+FRC, 1 billion colours) and come with wide viewing angles as well as high brightness levels (U3277PQU: 350 cd/m², Q3277PQU: 300 cd/m²), it said.

In order to make optimal use of the added screen space, intelligent features such as Picture-in-Picture and Picture-by-Picture modes empower users to view images from two different sources at the same time.

Additionally, to keep the viewers’ eyes healthy during prolonged periods of use, the two monitors also come with the AOC Flicker FREE technology which helps to reduce flickering and thus contributes to eye-health.

The U3277PQU’s and Q3277PQU’s panel technologies come encased in an appealingly designed frame, which can be either mounted to wall mounts and racks (VESA 100 x 100) or attached to the stable and ergonomic stand included.

Also in terms of connectivity, both monitors offer a breadth of options including DisplayPort, HDMI (MHL supported for mirroring and charging mobile phones or tablets), DVI, VGA and a USB 3.0 hub for data transfer or charging of USB devices.

The U3277PQU even boasts an advanced HDMI 2.0 connector for smooth UHD video playback with up to 60 frames per second, it added.

ASUS announced that 28 ASUS monitors with Smart Dynamic Backlight Adjustment received the TÜV Rheinland flicker-free certification, and 26 ASUS monitors received the TÜV Rheinland certification for low blue light emissions which is the most for any monitor brand.

Philips launches combined monitor stand and universal dock

Philips has launched a new product to help you create a convenient, ergonomic and clutter free workplace. The Philips SB4B1928UB Monitor Stand and Universal Dock is said to mix a stylish, ergonomic monitor stand with an I/O hub that connects to your PC via a single USB 3.0 cable. Mobile business professionals who work at multiple locations, toting the latest ultra-thin notebooks, are expected to be particularly attracted by the features of the Philips SB4B1928UB.

    Dock functionality
As mentioned above, the stand connects via a single USB 3.0 cable connection for speed and simplicity. The dock provides a large number of common office connectivity options to the connected user. Spread across the right hand side and back of the monitor pedestal, users will have access to the following ports:

    • Signal Input: USB 3.0 x 1 (upstream)
    • Signal Output: DP x 1, HDMI x 1
    • USB: USB 3.0 x 4 with B.C.1.2
    • Earphone jack
    • RJ45 Ethernet: Yes (through USB)
    • Microphone in: Yes (through USB)
    • SD MMC card slot: SD card
    • There's also a Kensington lock, power switch and power cable socket

Philips points out that this dock will work with any computer with a USB 3.0 connector so won't need replacing if you upgrade/change laptop brand, for instance. The dock supports multiple monitors and can display up to UHD (3840 x 2160) resolutions.
    SmartErgoBase stand
Philips' SB4B1928UB can support monitors measuring between 19- to 28-inches in diagonal. The attached screen simply needs to be VESA-compliant (100 x 100 mm hole pattern). As a stand, the SmartErgoBase is pretty feature-filled and provides user-friendly height, swivel, tilt and rotation angle adjustments plus cable management. It can be adjusted for low bezel-to-table height for bifocals, trifocals or progressive lens glasses wearers. Its full ergonomic specs are as follows:

    • Height adjustment: 120 mm
    • Pivot: 90 degree
    • Swivel: -65/65
    • Tilt: -5/20 degree

The SB4B1928UB weighs 3.4Kg and measures 310 x 463 x 261mm. It uses between a typical 3.8W and a maximum of 121W when powered up and has a built-in 100-240V, 50-60 Hz PSU. Philips tells us that the SB4B1928UB is available immediately and has an RRP of £128.

Acer Predator X34 Will get 100Hz Refresh Rate Support

Acer is released slash offering two 34" ultra-wide gaming screens, the XR341CK and the XR341CKA. These new screens offered 34" curved format screens with a 21:9 aspect ratio and 3440 x 1440 resolution based on a LG AH-IPS panel, boosted refresh rates and a selection of advanced gaming features including AMD FreeSync and NVIDIA G-sync respectively.
These screens were released as 75 Hz screens, however as it now seems Acer decided to change the model number to a simpler "Predator X34" screen and there's a new spec, it will support refresh rates up to 100Hz. Reports suggest that is only available when using G-sync specifically, AMD users and non-G-sync users could only use the screen up to an expected 75Hz.
The estimated first ETA for the 'updated' Predator X34 at the moment is the beginning of October for retail availability. We expect the price to be more than the XR341CK given the G-sync module, but a final retail price has yet to be announced.
