UPDATED: Quantum Break Release Date Changed By Amazon UK

UPDATED: Remedy’s head of PR, Thomas Puha, has just commented on the Amazon UK, and states that Quantum Break will still launch on April 5, 2016.

Xbox One exclusive Quantum Break has its release date changed to May 4 2016 on Amazon UK.

The change was noticed by Neogaf user uncleniccius today. The change is strange since both Remedy and Microsoft announced that the time-bending action title will release globally on April 5, 2016. Both the German and US Amazon site still mention that release date. If the change means a delay for the game, is uncertain.

We reached out to Remedy and Microsoft to verify.
    Quantum Break was delayed earlier

Xbox One exclusive Quantum Break was first scheduled for a release in 2014, but has been delayed multiple times. According publisher Microsoft the game was recently delayed due to a clash with other Xbox One exclusives releasing late 2015. Remedy’s Sam Lake, has assured fans that the extra development time on the game, will be used to further “polish” the game.

“We’re really proud to be part of the incredible Xbox One line-up,” said Sam Lake, Creative Director at Remedy. “We thank our fans for their patience, and want them to know that the team is taking advantage of this opportunity to polish and fine tune the game to create the kind of standout entertainment experience they’ve come to expect from us.”
In June of this year, then CEO at Remedy, Matias Myllyrinne, announced that he would be leaving the Finish developer. Following the announcement however, Myllyrinne reassured fans Quantum Break looks amazing, and the team is working hard.
The studio is in good standing and will go on to great things. Quantum Break looks amazing and the team is working hard to build it into the game that you deserve. It will be worthy of the Remedy brand
Development on Quantum Break has been quite long. The game was officially announced in 2013, but Remedy started hiring people to work on the title back in March 2012.
A few weeks ago we reported that the game’s ‘shivering’ end scene was locked down by Remedy. According Remedy’s drama director Stobe Harju, locking down Quantum Break’s end scene was important to the rest of the game’s scenes.

Remedy solved performance issues in Quantum Break with DirectX

With the Game Developers Conference right around the corner, Quantum Break developer Remedy Entertainment will talk about how they were able to get through performance and efficiency issues on the Xbox One.

Remedy used their in-house Northlight engine for Quantum Break, with the developer explaining: "Northlight is Remedy Entertainment's in-house game engine which powers Quantum Break. In this presentation we discuss how various rendering performance and efficiency issues were solved with DirectX, and suggest design guidelines for modern graphics API usage".

We will also learn about the impressive AI used in Quantum Break, with Remedy Entertainment's Head of PR, Thomas Puha, saying that some of the big issues with Quantum Break was the weak AI. At the time, the AI wasn't fully baked, so the gameplay footage we saw wasn't indicative of the final game. He said: "So a lot of the footage you have seen is from summer 2015 for Gamescom. AI really was not done at that point, hence the enemies in the trailers don't seem to give you much fight".

Puha did add that there will be enemies in Quantum Break that will put up a big fight, even with protagonist Jack Joyce featuring time-controlling powers. Puha added: "There are enemies like the Strikers who share some Jack's capabilities via Chronon technology, so they can warp around etc...they will give you a challenge. Trust me".

Quantum Break Rated For PC In Brazil

It looks like Quantum Break has been rated for PC as well as Xbox One by the Brazilian Advisory Board for video games.
Of course, it could be a mistake, which is why we have labeled this story as a rumor for now. Still, it isn’t exactly a stretch to imagine a PC version of Quantum Break: Alan Wake eventually found its way there, after all, though that was only some time after its Xbox 360 launch. Moreover, even Creative Director Sam Lake has admitted that he would like to see the game on the platform.
Still, it would be certainly surprising if Quantum Break launched this year on PC. While Microsoft has thankfully increased its PC support recently, bringing all of its exclusive games on Windows could cripple the Xbox One’s appeal for many.
Just yesterday, we told you about the upcoming GDC 2016 session where Remedy Entertainment will discuss how they solved some performance issues while developing the game. In the same story, we reported Head of PR Thomas Puha explaining that the weak AI seen in earlier gameplay videos was due to the fact the AI wasn’t fully implemented yet.
Quantum Break launches on April 5 for Xbox One, with a novel and a live action mini series set to considerably expand its fictional universe. We’ll keep you apprised of any and all developments on the rumor regarding a PC version, so stay tuned.

Quantum Break PC Releases On April 5th; First DX12-Only Game, 980Ti/Fury X Recommended

[Update 3] Quantum Break is indeed coming to PC. The game will be released as rumored on April 5th, together with the Xbox One release. An Xbox One Bundle including the game has also been confirmed.
In addition, the system requirements have been revealed and it looks like Quantum Break will be the first DX12-only game. Its requirements are also insanely high, with 16GB of RAM recommended and GTX 980Ti/Radeon R9 Fury X for the GPU.

[Update 2] The Alan Wake pre-order bonus has been confirmed by the Xbox Store listing for the game.
[Update] The article from GameStar has now been removed, but we have managed to get a couple screenshots from it. You can find them below.

[Original Story] Two weeks ago a possible PC version of Quantum Break, the upcoming game developed by Remedy Entertainment, has been rated by the Brazilian Advisory Board for video games. The rating has been removed shortly after becoming public, but it seems like Quantum Break is indeed going to be released on PC soon.

According to German website GameStar, the PC version of Quantum Break will be released alongside the Xbox One release on April 5th. The website claims to have received news of the PC version of the game straight from Remedy during a preview event. As Remedy and Microsoft have yet to share more on the matter, we must take all this with a grain of salt.
According to GameStar, the Xbox One version will also come with some nice pre-order bonuses. All those pre-order the game at retail will also get another game from Remedy, Alan Wake, complete with the American Nightmare add-on. Like for the PC version of Quantum Break, the Xbox One version pre-order extras have yet to be confirmed.
Quantum Break promises to be one of the best games releasing this year, thanks to its cinematic experience. The game is set at Riverport University, a fictional university located in the Northeastern United States, where a time travel experiment has gone terribly wrong. The failed experiment grants main characters Jack Joyce and Paul Serene time based abilities which will be quite helpful during the course of the game.
Quantum Break will be released on April 5th on Xbox One. More news on the possible PC version of the game should be coming soon, so stay tuned for all the latest news on Remedy’s upcoming new game.

Buy Quantum Break get Alan Wake for free, because you always wanted it

Remedy Games is giving away Alan Wake to everyone who pre-orders Quantum Break for the Xbox One. They're also including Alan Wake's American Nightmare in the package as well, to help entice new orders.

If you pre-order, you'll get a digital code through the Xbox Store for Alan Wake, the add-on packs and of course American Nightmare that'll be playable on the Xbox 360 and on the Xbox One through backwards compatibility. What a way to entice those looking at buying Quantum Break already, because these are some of their best games in the past.

Remedy: A Lot of Effort Going Into Quantum Break PC; Tearing & Other Issues To Be Fixed

The big news of the day came from Remedy and Microsoft. A rumor started circulating about Quantum Break PC launching day and date with the Xbox One version on April 5, and a few hours ago it was all confirmed.
Actually, in the official FAQ Remedy even revealed the game’s system requirements, which are the highest yet in a game (not to mention that Quantum Break will be the first DirectX12-only game).
    Minimum System Requirements

    • OS: Windows 10 64-bit
    • CPU: Intel Core i5-4460 3.2 GHz or AMD FX-8350 3.6 GHz
    • RAM: 8 GB
    • GPU RAM: 2 GB
    • GPU: GeForce GTX 760 or Radeon R7 260X
    • HDD: 55 GB Available Space
    • DX: DirectX 12

    Recommended System Requirements

    • OS: Windows 10 64-bit
    • CPU: Intel Core i7-4790 4.0 GHz or AMD FX-8370 4.1 GHz
    • RAM: 16 GB System
    • GPU RAM: 6 GB
    • GPU: GeForce GTX 980 Ti or Radeon R9 Fury X
    • HDD: 55 GB Available Space
    • DX: DirectX 12

Remedy Entertainment confirmed with the following tweet that the PC (Windows 10) version is being handled in-house, rather than by an external studio.

    Remedy Entertainment @remedygames
The Windows 10 version of @QuantumBreak is being developed by Remedy and Microsoft. A lot of effort is going into it. Stay tuned for more.

However, today Remedy and Microsoft also released more gameplay footage of Quantum Break (Xbox One version) and lots of tearing was visible, as you can see below for instance.
Head of PR Thomas Puha clarified that the footage comes from an unfinished build and tearing, just like Jack Joyce’s wacky jacket physics, will be fixed in the final version.

    Evoopin @evoopin
@remedygames @RiotRMD @SamLakeRMD Final build will have tearing? All videos have an unacceptable tearing. Jesus.

    Follow
    Thomas Puha @RiotRMD

@evoopin @remedygames @SamLakeRMD No, they wont. The media played an unfinished build.

    Thomas Puha @RiotRMD
Clarifying: the press demo in January had some issues with screen tearing in cut-scenes and Jacks jacket physics were broken. ALL FIXED.

    Evoopin @evoopin
    @RiotRMD @remedygames @SamLakeRMD Amazing! Thanks Thomas <3

    Follow
    Thomas Puha @RiotRMD

@evoopin @remedygames @SamLakeRMD Unfinished game so... did you notice Jack's jacket doing weird things?

With those requirements and DirectX 12 as min spec, Quantum Break on PC will now be expected to deliver some of the best graphics ever seen in a videogame. Let’s hope that Remedy can meet such hype.
In the meantime, here’s a new live action trailer.

Here's how to get 'Quantum Break' a week early

Quantum Break, a game that we first got a glimpse of when Microsoft revealed the Xbox One nearly three years ago, finally has a release date. Best yet, those who pre-order the game will receive a nice bonus.
The third-person shooter action game puts players in control of protagonist Jack Joyce, a man capable of manipulating time. Interestingly enough, there's also a live-action digital series that plays out alongside the main game which tells the story of the antagonists. Remedy has said that how you play the game impacts the show which subsequently informs players on how to play the game.
Originally an Xbox One exclusive, Microsoft on Thursday revealed that Quantum Break will also be coming to the PC. What's more, every copy of Quantum Break for Xbox One will come with a full-game download for Alan Wake for Xbox 360 plus its two expansion packs – The Signal and The Writer – which can be played on the Xbox One via backward compatibility.

It doesn't stop there, however, as anyone that pre-orders the game for Xbox One (at participating retailers or through the Xbox Store) will receive a full-game download of Alan Wake's American Nightmare for the 360.
But wait, there's more! Anyone that pre-orders the digital version of the game, purchases an Xbox One digital token or pre-orders a Quantum Break Xbox One bundle ($349) will receive the Windows 10 version of the game free of charge.

If you're at all interested in Quantum Break, I'd highly recommend pre-ordering to take advantage of these extras (especially if you haven't yet played Alan Wake).
Quantum Break goes on sale April 5 but if you pre-order the bundle, you'll get it a full week early on March 29.

Quantum Break Gets New Gameplay Video, Features Plenty Of Action

There’s been a lot of talking on the upcoming Quantum Break by Remedy Entertainment this week, mostly due to the reveal of a PC version, which will be released alongside the Xbox One release in around two months. All this talk has taken precedence over the discussion of the actual Quantum Break, but today the Xbox UK team has provided something for those who just want to see the game in action.

The new Quantum Break gameplay, which has been shared on the Xbox UK official YouTube channel, is a seven minute long video featuring plenty of exciting gameplay sequences. The game looks better than ever, so make sure to check the video out if Quantum Break is one of your most anticipated games of the year.

    Advertisements

The PC version of Quantum Break, which is going to be the first Direct X12 only game, is being developed in-house by Remedy Entertainment and Microsoft, and the team is putting quite a bit of effort in it. The team has also confirmed earlier this week that gameplay footage that has been made available in the past few days, featuring a lot of tearing, has been taken from an unfinished build and all issues, including jacket physics, are already fixed.
Quantum Break promises to be one of the best games releasing this year with its intense cinematic experience. The game will be set at Riverport University, a fictional university located in the Northeastern United States, where a time travel experiment has gone terribly wrong. The failed experiment grants main characters Jack Joyce and Paul Serene time based abilities which will help them quite a bit during the course of the game.
Quantum Break will be released on April 5th on Xbox One and PC. More on the game will surely come soon, so stay tuned for all the latest news.

MS: Bringing Quantum Break To Windows 10 Is A Great Benefit; We Didn’t Know We Could Do It Before

The news of the week and perhaps even of the month so far is that Quantum Break will unexpectedly (though there had been a rumor) release at the same time on PC and Xbox One.
This generated a lot of buzz in the gaming community, with PC gamers happy about the unforeseen present and Xbox One gamers feeling a little disoriented, since Microsoft had been telling everyone that the game would be an Xbox One exclusive.
In fact, during Gamescom 2015 PC Gamer was able to interview Phil Spencer and it sounded like Quantum Break definitely wouldn’t launch any time soon on Windows.
In the case of things like Scalebound or Crackdown or Quantum Break, you know, just to be completely honest with you, we started those games before we really looked at expanding into Windows in the way that I wanted to bring as part of becoming head of Xbox.
Going to those teams mid-cycle and saying: ‘Hey, by the way, I want to add a platform,’ didn’t really feel like necessarily the best way to end up with the best result for the game. They had a path that they were on. It’s not to say those games could never come to Windows, but right now we’re on the path to finish the great games that they’ve started, and I want that to be the case. These games are on a path, whereas with, like, Halo Wars 2 I had the opportunity from the beginning, when we’re sitting down with the studio, to say, ‘Here’s the target. Here’s what we wanna go do.
However, something must have changed shortly after that. Even so, Microsoft wasn’t fully sure to be able to launch Quantum Break on PC on April 5 until now, as confirmed by Head of Xbox Marketing Aaron Greenberg in the latest Major Nelson podcast.
We weren’t sure how and when we could get the Windows 10 version done. They lined up [with the Xbox One version]; a lot of people’s reaction on Twitter was like, I get it, you want to bring this to a lot more gamers to play, but why didn’t you tell us about this before?
    Advertisements

We didn’t know we could do this before.
The DirectX 12 environment for both Xbox One and Windows 10 probably helped the faster than anticipated development (which is being done in-house at Remedy Games).
Greenberg also made it clear that in Microsoft’s eyes, bringing the game to Windows 10 is a huge benefit.
We’re trying to bring gamers together, we’re trying to break down the walls if you will.
To be able to bring a title like Quantum Break to the Windows 10 ecosystem is a great benefit. We know that there are a lot of PC gamers out there who would like to play the game, so that opens up a new audience.
Interestingly, if you pre-order the game digitally through the Xbox Store or through participating retailers, you will also receive a digital download code of Quantum Break for Windows 10 for free.
Moreover, the game will feature cross-saves so that gamers who own both versions can continue their Xbox One progress on Windows 10 and vice versa. Check out the official PC requirements and the latest trailer if you haven’t already.

Quantum Break Is Not Coming To Steam, Will Be Exclusive To Windows Store

With the official reveal of Quantum Break for the PC, a lot of gamers wondered whether this title would be coming to Steam or not. After all, this is a Windows 10 game published by Microsoft, so what would be the catch other than its OS restriction? Well, apparently the game will be also available exclusively via Windows store.

As Aaron Greenberg said on the MajorNelson podcast, Quantum Break will be not coming to Valve’s distribution platform, Steam.

“So, Quantum Break on Windows 10 is a Windows store exclusive.”

Now our biggest gripe with this – apart from the fact that Microsoft is doing its best to promote its platforms – is that this game may be plagued by the same issues that already affect the Windows store version of Rise of the Tomb Raider.

The Windows store version of Rise of the Tomb Raider does not support exclusive full screen and SLI/Crossfire, and PC gamers can’t use third party overlay programs (such as FRAPS or MSI Afterburner).

We don’t know whether Microsoft will be able to resolve these issues, however Quantum Break may turn into another title that won’t support multi-GPU configurations. And that will undoubtedly disappoint a lot of PC gamers, especially when the game requires a top-of-the-line PC system (according to its official PC requirements) to shine.

MS on broken Quantum Break promises: we want to bring gamers together

Microsoft's decision to bring Quantum Break to PC was met with disdain from the Xbox community--after all, the game was supposed to be exclusive to Xbox One. So why did Microsoft risk alienating its core audience with the move? Bringing Quantum Break to PC wasn't about sales or numbers--it's about bringing gamers together.

According to Xbox marketing exec Aaron Greenberg, Microsoft's cross-platform PC-and-console strategy is specifically built around unifying platforms and making games widely accessible. "We're really trying to bring gamers together, and trying to break down the walls. We are at Microsoft, and we're all about gaming. This is about putting gamers at the center of everything we're doing," he said in a recent podcast.

This statement goes against the very ethos of console gaming, however. The main reason consumers buy a console is because of the games, which include exclusive IPs--or exclusive content. As Microsoft can't compete against Sony's PS4 in the traditional game, it wants to disrupt the traditional ethos with a newly evolved structure that bridges two platforms.

As Microsoft owns and controls Windows 10 and Xbox, it's perfectly fine the two play along. When it comes to competitors like Sony, however, the company has been all-too-eager to build up timed exclusivity deals to wall off content. So it's less about "bringing gamers together" than it is about "bolstering our own dual-platform", which will continue to expand as more games become exclusive to Windows 10 and the Windows Store.

So what does Microsoft have up its sleeve for the future? Will we see nearly every Xbox One game come over to PC? Greenberg says that exclusives will still happen: "We'll continue to innovate and bring more console exclusives while growing the ecosystem," he said.

Despite all the promises, Windows 10 PC's will continue to be a big part of Xbox gaming. Other than backward compatibility, it's the only edge Microsoft has over the PS4. The only problem is that Microsoft doesn't have enough PC games. According to speculation derived from a spotted Xbox.steampowered.com subdomain, Microsoft may be partnering with Valve to bring Steam games to the Xbox One.

If this is true, Steam games may power PC-to-Xbox One game streaming, a feature that Microsoft has been working on for quite some time. I have a gut feeling that PC-to-Xbox game streaming will be unveiled later this month at a press event.

In the same podcast, Greenberg also answers why Microsoft didn't warn anyone about Quantum Break's PC release, saying that it wasn't a planned move and was made on the spot. "Some may ask 'why didn't you tell us about this before?' Well, we didn't know we could do this before," the exec told Major Nelson.

How many months did Microsoft hype up Quantum Break, and how many times were Xbox gamers assured their platform was the "only place" to play it? The company pushed the game at every angle, with tons of advertisements, commercials, and trailers, assuring the Xbox One is the best place to game. Given how much time, money and effort was spent on those campaigns, I don't think Microsoft planned to bring Quantum Break to the PC all along.

Today we have a lot to be excited about. First of all, we’re proud to continue Remedy’s 20-year journey of making games for PC by announcing the Windows 10 version of our latest blockbuster game Quantum Break. It launches simultaneously with the Xbox One version on April 5th, 2016 and is included as a bonus item for Xbox One pre-orders.
Quantum Break PC wil be the first DX12-only game, and Remedy recommends a GTX 970 or R9 390 to play the time-bending action title. According the Finish studio, a lot of development effort is going into Quantum Break PC. The PC version of the game is being handled in-house, rather than by an external studio.

Quantum Break is et for a release on April 5, 2016.

Quantum Break File Size Revealed Via Official Xbox Store; Make Room For This Time-Bending Title

The Quantum Break file size has been revealed through the official Xbox One store, and it requires quite some free space.

Quantum Break was recently announced to be released on both PC and Xbox One simultaneously. While the time-bending action title from Finish developer, Remedy Entertainment, has always been presented as an Xbox One exclusive, Microsoft now decided to release the game on PC (Windows 10) as well.
Quantum Break PC will be the first DirectX12 (DX12) only title, and those who want to play the game on their PC will not quite some graphical power. According Remedy Entertainment, a lot of development effort is going into Quantum Break PC. The PC version of the game is being handled in-house, rather than by an external studio.
Clean your HDD as Quantum Break needs quite some free space

Apart from having high visual fidelity, the game also required quite some hard drive space if the listing on the Xbox store is to be believed – a minimum of 44.09GB of free space is required. This applies to the Xbox One version of the game, but in general file sizes between different platforms don’t differ that much.
