Assassin’s Creed: Unity – GeometryWorks DirectX 11 Advanced Tessellation Coming Via Upcoming PC Update

Assassin’s Creed: Unity has just been released and NVIDIA revealed that a new update will add GeometryWorks DirectX 11 Advanced Tessellation to its PC version. According to the green team, this new advanced tessellation technique enables developers to ‘quickly and easily generate tessellation displacement maps from pre-existing assets, and to efficiently integrate tessellation rendering into their engines with minimal work.’
“In Unity, GeometryWorks is being used to add tessellation to roof shingles, roof tiles, cobblestones, brick roads and paths, archways, statues, architecture, and much, much more. And because this tessellation is real geometric detail, as opposed to simulated detail from bump mapping or normal mapping, tessellated detail in Unity is accurately shadowed by NVIDIA HBAO+ and NVIDIA PCSS, significantly improving image quality.”
Sounds cool, though we have to say that we’d wish to see tessellation being used as a means to eliminate LOD transitions – something from which AC: U suffers a lot.

Assassin’s Creed: Unity includes a 10,000 NPC scene

Assassin’s Creed: Unity really turns up the crowds that were an original hallmark of the series, with Ubisoft aiming to make them more populous, dynamic, reactive and realistic than ever before. In a recent episode of Major Nelson Radio, as transcribed by Gamespot, creative director Alex Amancio said Ubisoft “really harnessed every ounce of power” from the PS4 and Xbox One in order to power these crowds.
Where previous games managed about 200 NPCs on screen, Unity regularly fronts 5,000 or more, and one scene has 10,000.
“These are real AI NPCs,” Amancio said. You can interact with all of them; they’re not like the cardboard cutouts lining racing tracks, for example.
Amancio said Unity simply wouldn’t have been possible on older hardware. It also boasts new lighting and shading systems, better textures, no loading screens between areas, and loads of interior spaces to explore.
Assassin’s Creed: Unity hits PC, PS4 and Xbox One on November 11 in North America and November 14 in Europe and beyond.

    Do Twitter do TotalBiscuit

I do wanna give em a chance with this day 1 patch before I put this out. But YOU SHOULD NOT BUY THIS GAME RIGHT NOW.
I have some lovely footage of models with holes in them, actors teleporting over terrain, clipping through other actors
Scratch that I can't even capture at 30 right now either in some areas. Mindboggling
That might be acceptable if on a technical level the game didnt look like arse.
The artists have done a fantastic job as always, they've been let down by whoever is responsible for the technical side
Those suggest in cpu bottleneck, well it's utilising about 35% of my cpu time, so I'm not so sure.
Texture quality is awful, even on characters clothing, huge popin, incorrect lighting, faulty texture streaming
    EDIT:

    Next Gen graphics

    Mais um Watch Dogs

Não percebo porque não fazem as coisas em condições antes de as colocar no consumidor, pelo vistos é mais um jogo psra levar remendos atrás de remendos até ficar minimamente decente.

    Assassins Creed Unity Review

The chaos of the French Revolution fuels the city of Paris in 1789. As a robed figure in the night, you walk closer to a bloodied guillotine stained with the blood of those noblemen who have done the citizens of the bourgeoisie Revolution wrong. This is Assassin’s Creed Unity – and this is where the landscape for an entirely new next-generation experience in the Assassin’s Creed franchise begins. Ubisoft Montreal aimed to keep the thrilling landscape of Paris in the most tumultuous of times entirely vivid and surreal.

Paris is alive in Assassin’s Creed: Unity and there is a feel to it that is palpable. The gameplay follows the formula of the franchise closely which does unfortunately lead into a stagnancy that is all too familiar to Assassin’s Creed III and its redundant mission structures. For some things that it does do right, however, Assassin’s Creed Unity also does quite a few things wrong in the process.

Report: Assassin's Creed: Unity Frame Rate Problems Across Consoles

Several Assassin's Creed: Unityconsumers are reporting performance issues, such as low frame rates.Several consumers are reporting performance issues in all versions of Assassin's Creed: Unity, including bugs, texture glitches, and low frame rates.
Visuals stutter immensely in some people's copies of the game. Ubisoft stated last month Unity would belocked at 30 fps and then said a lower frame rate made the game feel "cinematic." The company said resolution and frame rate had to be locked because of the sheer size of Paris and number of NPCs walking around. Now that the game has launched, people are reporting that the frame rate feels worse than 30 fps.
"Seriously, I get the game is massive, but jesus the framerate in this game is atrocious," Reddit user Merwerk said, having played the PS4 version of Assassin's Creed: Unity. "It's not even close to a locked 30 fps[;] it feels like it's running at 20 something most of the time, and I've had it drop way below that a couple of times already."
Xbox One users playing Unity reported on Reddit similar problems; one person complained the game is "really running sub 30fps, which makes it unplayable."
PC users with a high-end setup seem to be experiencing fewer problems, but others complained they couldn't reach 30 fps or were experiencing stuttering. YouTuber TotalBiscuit talked about his experience with the game's performance so far and said lighting and texture quality were poor, and textures appearing and disappearing at random. He also said guards would spawn in from the sky and other NPCs clipping through objects.
Assassin's Creed: Unity has a 1 GB patch for stability and performance problems. However, Dealspwn has reported performance issues even after installing this patch.

A mim admira-me como é que a nVidia continua a patrocinar estes palhaços.
Será que não percebem que o nome da nVidia fica manchado quando se associam com uma empresa que está sempre a lançar jogos muito mal optimizados.
