Não convém esticar muito o grafismo, senão a Sony e a Microsoft ficam tristes, não podem continuar a vender as suas consolas como o state of the art.

Hitman beta sees SLI workaround, offers 96% scaling on NVIDIA SLI

The last awesome SLI workaround was for Rise of the Tomb Raider, but now Hitman is getting some multi-GPU lovin' thanks to some tinkering within the NVIDIA Inspector Tool.

For those who are participating in the closed beta of Hitman, you can get improved SLI scaling by loading up NVIDIA Inspector Tool and finding "Hitman Codename 47" and do the changes that DSOGaming.com have listed. DSOGaming reports that "by doing these changes, SLI will be enabled".

In one of the scenes in Hitman, the site noticed SLI scaling dropped to 70% or so, noting that this trick "cannot be considered a 100% fix".

Hitman is getting a beta exclusively for PS Plus members next month

The first Hitman beta was a success all around, delighting fans with a very short sneak preview of the full game. It also helped IO-Interactive discover issues that they want to perfect before it launches. So a new beta that's exclusive to PS Plus members on the PS4 is being launched on March 4th, just before it releases.

The beta, while mostly stable and graphically quite good looking, revealed a few weaknesses and bugs that need to be addressed before being released. Backend issues could spell doom with a larger player-base, and while they've implemented fixes, it's time to put those to the test before it's game time.

"Our initial beta was an extremely helpful moment for our new HITMAN game, as it gave us great insight into how the server game mechanics function under pressure. A lot of those pressure points are currently being strengthened for release," said Hannes Seifert, Studio Head at Io-Interactive. "Now Sony have given us the opportunity to go even bigger to validate some of the initial things we saw. Therefore we are inviting everyone who is a PlayStation Plus member to try the same beta and you don't have to pre-order the game. This will allow us to really stress test our server setup, which is a crucial element for us to get just right."

The response seemed to be mostly overwhelming. Sure it was short, but it was also very sweet. The mechanics are much more refined compared to Bloodmoney. It's also going back to the roots that sprung up the series, giving you the gift of choice. Despite being "training" missions, the available means of completing the mission are still quite varied. The AI is smart, but there's more you can do to infiltrate hard to reach areas. The hope, of course, is that this is but a glimpse of what's to come, the mere tip of the iceberg.

Hitman is scheduled to launch on March 11th for the PlayStation 4 , Xbox One and on the PC.

Hitman 'Legacy' cinematic bridges the gap between the old and the new

The new trailer for Hitman is a very interesting journey through the many exploits of Agent 47 in the previous games, which constitute the future from the point-of-view of the Hitman beta. In it, we see some of the classic hits from his "future," from the assassination of Franz Fuchs in the thermal baths of the Hotel Gallard in Budapest to some of his other iconic moments.

What the trailer is trying to show is the journey that you're about to help Agent 47 begin. It goes through the 20 year gap between the prologue mission in the beta of Hitman that eventually leads to the Paris mission at the beginning of the new game. It grabs onto that nostalgic feeling, showing you some of the finer moments from the previous games, bridging the gap between the old and the new.

Hitman season premier trailer sets the stage for greatness

An adrenalin charged trailer for Io Interactive's upcoming Hitman was just released, and it shows off some of the settings and missions we'll be exploring when it releases on March 11th.

The first "season" as they're calling it is going to have a variety of very different and engaging missions to go through. Agent 47 is back and in the prime of his career in this new, live and almost re-imagined game. The amount of free-will and choices you'll have should be astounding. Even the beta, as short as it was, had a great many possibilities in how to accomplish it.

The episodic way that they're releasing this will give you new, fresh contracts and challenges to complete every week as well as new, major content appearing every month until the season ends. The plan for them is to continue to support the game with fresh content for quite some time. The base-mechanics are already in-place, and they're pretty good.

Soon after it releases we should see an update that enables DirectX 12 support, meaning better framerates and probably slightly better graphics, initially. DX12 could help the developers create even larger environments at a smaller cost in performance.

If you're curious whether or not your PC can handle the game, the PC requirements point toward it requireing a bit of horsepower in order to look its best. An NVIDIA GTX 770 or AMD R9 290 is required, and even a Titan X seems to struggle at 4K. We'll have our performance analysis shortly after it releases on March 11th. Here's to hoping for another well optimized Square Enix published game.

Hitman: World of Assassination Free With Strix R9 390

ASUS has announced that both the Strix R9 390 and the R9 390X will come with a free copy of Hitman: World of Assassination. A nice little bonus if you were planning on buying the game or a new video card.

Hitman will support DirectX 12 when it launches on March 11

The new Hitman launches on March 11, with the developer teasing that it will support DirectX 12 at launch - which is awesome. The news arrived from the PC Gamer Weekender event that took place over the weekend.

With Hitman having support for DX12, we can expect to see better performance, mostly thanks to the improved multithreaded support, and increased performance for CPU-bound instructions. PC Gamer's slide image said that DX12 will provide Hitman with:

    • better multithreading
    • increased performance where CPU bound
    • better experiences for laptop gamers
    • asynchronous compute on AMD cards for significant performance gains
    • early days but we will continue expanding and improving on the Dx12 experience in future releases

Hitman will have seven episodes releasing in 2016

After a few delays and a huge change in direction, IO Interactive and Square Enix will finally be launching Hitman this month in episodic form. While we already have some details on the first three episodes, we didn’t know exactly how many we would be getting this year until now.
Today, Square Enix has confirmed that there will be a total of seven episodes for Hitman rolling out through 2016. We don’t know if new maps will be added with each episode but we do know that six different locations, including Paris, will be available at launch on the 11th of March.

Additional areas that will feature in the game include Morocco, Thailand, Japan, Italy and the USA. The ‘Full Experience’ package will include all episodes and cost £44.99 upfront though you can buy the ‘intro pack’ for £11.99 and future episodes at £7.99 each.
On the PC side, Hitman will be launching with full Direct X 12 support, which will bring along plenty of benefits, including a performance boost.

Hitman Intro Pack Review – Silent Assassin Is Back

    Developer/Publisher: IO Interactive/Square Enix
Platform: PC (Steam), Xbox One, PlayStation 4 – 14.99$ for the Intro Pack, 49.99$ for the Full Experience
PS4 version reviewed. Review code provided by the publisher.
Almost all games feature some sort of killing, but Hitman has always felt slightly different. While something like Call of Duty might put you in the role of some US grunt, mowing down endless amounts of Foreigners™ in the quest for justice, anti-hero Agent 47 approaches things in a slightly different manner. That is no different in this latest outing, simply titled Hitman.
The element of choice has always been first and foremost the chief feature of this franchise. Climb up a pipe, miraculously clamber out of a toilet bowl, knock out and steal the clothes of some cheeky tennis girl before feeding an evil Mafioso spy millionaire oil magnate to his pet otters – you could usually go as far as you wanted to get the kill. And all while playing Ave Maria on a loop.

For the last title, Hitman Absolution, the developers watered this down somewhat in an effort to be more accessible, and it did the series no favors. Long time fans will be happy to know that this problem has been solved with an utterly fair compromise that offers the best of both worlds.
There’s a long list of ways to finish each level, and a number of ways to kill your mark. Unlike the olden days, when you were free to experiment with no guidance, your choices are partly informed by vague challenges that give you a hint at your options. Sometimes it’ll be as obvious as a picture of your target being killed by piano wire, while other times it’ll be a lot more involved.
As you progress through an environment, you’ll hear conversations that might hint at ways to get your opponent on their own or vulnerable. Players are able to, at a click of a button, set waypoints whenever they hear one of these exchanges and follow the path focussing more on stealth and less on aimlessly walking around.
And here’s the beauty: everything is entirely optional. You can turn off the hint waypoints if you choose to, and without specifically checking the challenges you won’t see anything you should. If you want to approach a given situation completely blind, you have that option.
It might not be the glorious return to the hardcore that some people had hoped for, but I think they’ve successfully walked a pretty difficult line. They’ve made it as easy or as hard as you want, and while that’ll no doubt annoy extreme cases in both groups, I have no doubt that it was the right choice.

There’s a few other things that make Hitman stand out from its predecessors.
Firstly, the sheer number of people at each stage. It makes an incredible difference to be surrounded by literally thousands of watching eyes. Private rooms are few and far between, and you have to choose your opportunities very carefully.
Granted, it’s a little bit formulaic at times. In the Paris level, staff can go on the bottom two floors, security on the bottom three floors, and so on. You realize quickly that the easiest way to avoid being seen is to wear the right clothes, and with so few stages it’s easy to fall into the trap of repeating working ideas (more on this later).
When you get caught, you’ll probably die. There was only a single time I alerted the guards and lived to tell the tale. A few shots and you’re dead. The stakes are high, especially as you have to manually save if you don’t want to play huge chunks of a level again.
    Advertisements

Graphically, Hitman is hard to knock. From snow falling onto the ground and sticking to the surface before melting away to incredibly detailed character models, I couldn’t believe just how pretty this game is. General design is impressive as well, with busy yacht parties and Paris fashion shows feeling exactly how you would want them to.
The user interface deserves special mention, which is a bit of a surprise. Nobody raves about the UI, because the whole point of it is that it gives a maximum amount of information without getting too much in the way. If you notice it, it’s not doing its job.

But this may well just be the exception that proves the rule. It’s minimalistic, clean, precise – just like 47 himself – and it never overstays its welcome. I’m expecting a patch pretty soon to fix the odd occasion when options don’t pop up as easily as they should (especially when hiding bodies), but these times are few and far between and won’t impact on the experience.
As a game, as a concept, Hitman is just excellent. It’s what a Hitman game ought to be, right up until the story gets started and the whole thing comes to a close. Those of you that have already played the prologue as part of the beta are going to be very, very disappointed by the general release.
Let me preface this by saying that the switch to being episodic probably won’t hurt Hitman. Like Ground Zeroes, the shallow surface hides what could easily be dozens of hours of gaming. There is content galore here, so long as you’re happy to play on the same maps, with the same options, the same voice acting.
You can modify your start point, your equipment. You can change your plan of attack, your method of entry. All in all though, you’re going to be playing through the same chunks of the game again and again. For those of you who plan to rush this out, taking the easiest option to get to the end as soon as possible, you’ll have – at best – two or three hours of play this month. If you’ve already played the beta, you can half that, because although you’ll have to play through the first three levels again, you’ll only have one new location to explore. It’s massive, but, again, as long or short as you want it to be.
This is a short term problem because, frankly, Square Enix plan to release a boatload of content over the coming months. For somebody who already has the game, missed the beta and has limited time to play, I’m quite happy with it. I know I’ll be back between now and the April content drop to mop up the rest of the trophies and I’ll get more time out of it. Others will be better waiting until next month, when the new content on offer is more meaty, or for the end of the season when everything will be available, especially when considering paying for the full package upfront. It’s a lot to spend at this point with relatively little to show for it.

So you’ve finished every challenge on every level and you’re ready to jump into Contracts mode. The downside is, this probably won’t offer much in the way of new content.
The player created levels are exactly the same as the developer created ones, only they might have specific challenges attached to them. You create the ‘new’ stages by playing through it and tagging who you want to be the target. You can then share this via the internet.
It’s nice, in that it will be extremely challenging when people select random party guest 267 as the target, but at this point it just isn’t a replacement for official content. Pre-release, I’ve already seen a few trophy tests, and I suspect this is mostly what Contracts will become.
There’s a few non-crucial glitches that might annoy slightly, but nothing awful. I’ve seen a slowdown once in all the time I played, and the loading time is longer than I’d have liked. There’s also glitches with sound, but oddly enough, only on the loading screen – go figure.

Square Enix publishes 4K, 360-degree Hitman trailer

Square Enix has published a new trailer for Hitman. The episodic reboot of this assassinations-based game will launch tomorrow and if you can't wait, or want a little taste to whet your appetite, the publishers have released an interactive 4K, 360-degree Hitman trailer. If you are purchasing Hitman online, distributors such as Steam are allowing pre-loading now (with 1 day and 7 hours left until the game unlocks, at the time of writing).

In the video above you can see, via our central character's viewpoint, the Paris fashion show event where the first episode of the game is set. As the film rolls you can simply enjoy the 4K visuals and / or pan with the on screen cursors at the top left or, more intuitively, click and drag around the scene as you move through it. Amusingly the Hitman seems to not just be present at the fashion show for a 'hit' but also as one of the catwalk models. Obviously that's great cover for the assassination.

As a reminder, Hitman will debut as a 'fully episodic' title to which Square Enix will also introduce 'live' time-limited elements. The episodic content works as follows:

    • On 11th March Hitman will be sold in its initial launch form. It will include a prologue and the first episode of the game, set in Paris.
    • In April an episode set in Italy will be published.
    • A Moroccan episode will be released in May.
    • Another three location-based episodes are planned, with Agent 47 travelling to Thailand, the US and finally to Japan.

The initial release will cost $15 (£10.99) but subsequent episodes are cheaper, at only $9.99. There is a 'full experience' version available, a kind of season pass, for an outlay of $59.99 (£39.99) for those who are confident of the ongoing value/appeal on offer.

Live content is interesting with elusive targets entering the game world, never to return. Square Enix is also introducing 'escalation mode', 'contracts mode', and 'live challenges' as part of its live content based activities for Hitman players. What happens with the game and such content a couple of years later? It might sound good to have live content for now - but if I like a game I often play it for years so would be put off by any potential 'reverse feature creep'.

Watch this amazing real-life Hitman game controlled by YouTubers

While the Hitman games have proved to be a popular franchise over the years, Hollywood’s two incarnations of Agent 47 haven’t done the name justice. But now, it looks as if we’ve got the best version of Hitman ever to appear on film; not an actual movie, but a real-life interactive experience.
The project is the work of British production company Realm Pictures, which was commissioned by Hitman developer IO Interactive to create a way for YouTubers to control an actual Agent 47 (well, an actor playing him, obviously) as he makes his way around a real-world mansion.

Just like a level from the game, players have to navigate setpieces and locate their target from the 22 actors on the set before assassinating them. They have one hour to complete this mission and escape the premises.

Players control Agent 47 using voice commands sent to the actor’s earpiece. They were able to do pretty much anything that’s allowed in the video game version, including stealing and wearing clothes, manipulating objects, and attacking people. For added authenticity, the character's voice is provided - in real time - by David Bateson, who voiced Agent 47 in the Hitman games.
Even knowing that there’s a camera operator following the main actor, the whole thing feels pretty real. The studio had to consider all the different ways that players might carry out the assassination, which meant creating five different methods of infiltrating the building and ten different ways of approaching the target.
Realm Pictures was also behind a similar, Chatroulette-based live-action FPS last year. Following Real Life Hitman, the company says it has more projects lined up. "Trust me when I say that I cannot wait to show you what we have in store for you next,” said director David M Reynolds.

Hitman won’t be releasing on disc until 2017

Square Enix and IO Interactive are taking a different approach with Hitman this year. The game comes out tomorrow but it will be released episodically for the first time, meaning content will be rolled out in chunks over the course of 2016. This has the knock-on effect of making Hitman a digital only release for the time being.
Square Enix won’t be releasing a physical version of Hitman until next year once all of the content has rolled out digitally. This means that those that choose to wait to get the game on disc will get it all at once with no need to constantly download new bits of content over the next few months.

Hitman’s first episode comes out tomorrow featuring the Paris map and prologue missions. There is more to come on a monthly basis as the next update will be coming in April, which will see Agent 47 head to Italy.
Other locations currently expected to feature in future Hitman episodes include Morocco, Thailand, the US and Japan. There will also be an unannounced location coming later on in the year in one of the final episodes for the game.

Advertising Hitman With Blood Trails In Girls Bathrooms

This marketing stunt is so incredibly dumb that it is actually kinda funny. Either that or I'm a sick bastard that laughs at this kind of stuff.

As this was a gaming event, blood trails on the floor of a toilet were unlikely to be met with screams or complaints. However, I suspect Square Enix won’t be repeating this in more general public toilets for fear of causing major upset.

Hitman PC Benchmarks Unveiled – NVIDIA GeForce and AMD Radeon Get Tested in The First Retail DirectX 12 Title

The latest Hitman PC title from IO Interactive has just been released and marks the launch of the first DirectX 12, retail ready AAA game. The game has been said to feature the best implementation of DirectX 12 and its corresponding technologies such as Asynchronous Compute which will be utilized by the latest graphics cards available to gamers on PC.

NVIDIA GeForce and AMD Radeon GPUs Tested In Hitman 2016 – Features Best Implementation of DirectX 12 Technologies

Hitman brings back Agent 47 back to his stealthy adventures but this time, developer IO Interactive has chosen to go ahead with episodic releases rather than a full release. The game will have two parts, one will serve as a Prequel to the previous Hitman titles while the other will place after the events of Hitman Absolution hence being a sequel. The game release tomorrow and one of the main highlights for the game is that not only was it bundled with AMD Radeon R9 390 and Radeon R9 390X graphics card but will be the first title to feature the most intense and best implementation of Asynchronous compute which allows graphics and compute work loads handling simultaneously.
The most notable thing about Hitman is that it’s the first retail AAA title to feature DirectX 12 support. Games like Ashes of the Singularity which also feature DX12 support are currently in BETA state and expected to retail on 31st March while Fable Legends which was previously expected to launch this year has been canned by MS (Microsoft).

AMD has previously shown that they have a big enough lead with Async compute in the Alpha and Beta release of Ashes of the Singularity but Hitman featuring the tech’s best implementation will show off AMD’s true lead in this department. AMD had previously stated that Asynchronous Compute at the very best can deliver up to 46% performance boost in titles that have good implementation of the technology and Hitman is just that title which AMD was expecting to showcase their cards true performance lead over NVIDIA’s Maxwell architecture.
Few weeks ago, we had spotted a GDC 2016 session about HITMAN’s usage of DirectX 12, but at that time nothing had been officially confirmed. Here’s what AMD had to say, specifically:
AMD is once again partnering with IO Interactive to bring an incredible Hitman gaming experience to the PC. As the newest member to the AMD Gaming Evolved program, Hitman will feature top-flight effects and performance optimizations for PC gamers.
Hitman will leverage unique DX12 hardware found in only AMD Radeon GPUs—called asynchronous compute engines—to handle heavier workloads and better image quality without compromising performance. PC gamers may have heard of asynchronous compute already, and Hitman demonstrates the best implementation of this exciting technology yet. By unlocking performance in GPUs and processors that couldn’t be touched in DirectX 11, gamers can get new performance out of the hardware they already own.

AMD is also looking to provide an exceptional experience to PC gamers with high-end PCs, collaborating with IO Interactive to implement AMD Eyefinity and ultrawide support, plus super-sample anti-aliasing for the best possible AA quality.
This partnership is a journey three years in the making, which started with Hitman: Absolution in 2012, a top seller in Europe and widely critically acclaimed. PC technical reviewers lauded all the knobs and dials that pushed GPUs of the time to their limit. That was no accident. With on-staff game developers, source code and effects, the AMD Gaming Evolved program helps developers to bring the best out of a GPU. And now in 2016, Hitman gets the same PC-focused treatment with AMD and IO Interactive to ensure that the series’ newest title represents another great showcase for PC gaming!

AMD users should also note that AMD released a new Crimson 16.3 Driver for Hitman yesterday. More information can be found in our full detailed post here.
AMD Radeons Show Their True DirectX 12 Power in Hitman – Massive Leads on the Red Side Thanks To Async Compute

Once again, PCGamesHardware and Computerbase are ahead with their detailed coverage of PC benchmarks for the latest games (For a detailed look at the benchmarks, please visit the above mentioned websites for a better performance analysis on Hitman). Hitman is the first retail title to feature DirectX 12 support and it’s optimized specifically towards AMD Radeon graphics cards where it shows its lead in. It’s obvious that AMD has the best DirectX 12 right now on their GCN cards but this title in specific is also optimized a lot in DirectX 11 for AMD which is quite surprising for the red team. It goes off to show that developers of Hitman really gave Radeon cards the best tuning to have them deliver better performance over the GeForce counterparts.
Talking about DirectX 12, AMD’s cards such as Radeon R9 390X and Radeon R9 390 offer the best bang for buck with a huge lead not only over their GeForce competitors but also come close to their Fiji based relatives which are priced higher. Comparing both DirectX 11 and DirectX 12 results, NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 980 Ti maintains its lead in 1080P and 1440P resolutions but that lead is lost to the Radeon R9 Fury at higher resolutions. The GTX 980 and 970 perform really poor in Hitman since not only does NVIDIA has game-ready drivers for the game out yet but they also don’t have compute enabled drivers which have yet to be released.

Hitman DirectX 12 PC Benchmarks (Image Source/Credits: Computerbase.de):

The Radeon cards show a big performance improvement by switching to DirectX 12 while NVIDIA cards are affected negatively when DirectX 12 is enabled. This was the same case with Ashes of the Singularity where NVIDIA cards showed little to no performance increase when switched from DirectX 11 to DirectX 12 but that will be something that NVIDIA has to work on right now if they want to maintain lead for their Maxwell cards with more and more DirectX 12 titles heading for launch in 2016.
Another major benefit with DirectX 12 is the amount of CPU overhead reduced thanks to the new API and the demonstration is shown with AMD’s FX and Intel’s Skylake processors by Computerbase. The Intel chip gets a benefit since it has better single core performance but AMD’s untapped core potential from the higher count is also gained and the results are a significant increase in performance. It’s clear that DirectX 12 is untapping the performance potential of current generation hardware for AMD. NVIDIA on the other hand delivers edge in the DirectX 12 visual departments as seen in the Fable Legends performance benchmark but their Maxwell H/W benefit is yet to be seen. Nevertheless, Hitman has proved to be a good showcase of AMD’s DirectX 12 lead and Radeon users should be really in for a treat with upcoming DX12 launches.
