[Updated: v1.1.18] Saurik Updates Cydia for iOS 8.3 – Fixes Device Identification Issues

Saurik has finally released an update for Cydia Installer. The latest Cydia 1.1.17 is now compatible with iOS 8.3 TaiG v2 jailbreak. This fixes the issue “cannot identify your device” which users received while trying to access Cydia using their iOS 8.1.3 – iOS 8.3 jailbroken devices.
Hot: Fix all the TaiG 2.0 iOS 8.3 – iOS 8.1.3 Errors – Quick Tips

    Version 1.1.17 Cydia iOS 8.3:

If you have jailbroken your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch using TaiG’s jailbreak tool then you would get an “Essential Upgrade” popup. Make sure to install the latest Cydia iOS 8.3 v1.1.17 to make it compatible with the latest OS. This, however, still doesn’t fix the Cydia Substrate issue which was reported earlier. As shared with our readers before, Saurik has clarified that the team TaiG will have to update kernel patch to fix the issue with Substrate. Until then, don’t try to install tweaks not yet compatible as you might get into endless loop.
TaiG mentioned on their Weibo account that they would release an update to TaiG 2.0 today. We have yet to see it coming though. We would definitely update you folks once it happens as it would solve many of your troubles with choosing and installing your favorite iOS 8.3 jailbreak tweaks.
Here is the complete Cydia iOS 8.3 version 1.1.17 changelog:
Update Cydia to Support iOS 8.3
On iOS 8.3, Cydia would report that it “cannot identify your device” while trying to access your account. This was due to changes on iOS 8.3, and has been fixed.
    Support file:/// Repository URLs
Recent versions of Cydia have rejected “local” repository URLs. This was due to an overly-limited filter on acceptable URLs. You can now again use local repositories.

Stay tuned for more iOS 8.3 – iOS 8.1.3 jailbreak updates, fixes, and tweaks. As with previous years, we will soon be sharing with you an extensive list of tweaks as they get updated to the latest jailbreak version. Don’t forget to share your favorite JB tweaks and apps.
[Update]: Latest update released to fix earlier issues

    Jay Freeman (saurik) @saurik

Cydia 1.1.18 fixes a bug introduced in 1.1.17 that would cause SpringBoard to lock up if it was killed by a user with the iOS task switcher.

    v1.1.18 changelog:
A “proactive” fix for iOS 8.3 added in Cydia 1.1.17 caused SpringBoard to lock up if users killed Cydia using the iOS task switcher. This fix is designed to fix an issue that should be present on iOS 8.3, but TaiG’s jailbreak seems to provide a workaround in the form of a kernel patch. This will be investigated for later releases, but in the mean time the fix has been removed.

Enhance Your iOS Experience With These Nifty Tricks

iOS made its debut in 2007 with a simplistic design language, even though there were a lot of mobile OS already present. As the phenomenon grew to date, users have been quite fond of the iOS functionality. However, to an everyday user some tips and tricks still makes an impression. As each year goes by, enumerable functions are added to the operating system which makes it more capable and useful to do every day stuff.

Moving forward, this post does not focus on singularities in terms for the provision of tricks. Thus, we aim to provide tricks which will be useful in your everyday life that ranges from saving your battery life to accessing a secret function in your iPhone or iPad. So lets get on to it.
Enhance Your Experience Over iOS On iPhone And iPad

iOS is advancing forward very fast and lord knows what might Apple have further plans for it. However, whats in our hand should be sorted with perfection, which leads us to our range of tricks for an enhanced experience over the platform.
    Improve Battery Life

On a busy day, the least you can expect from your device is to run out of power. That a menace! However, if you own an iOS device, you can squeeze out a juice to take you off the day. This is where iOS’s Grayscale feature kicks in. Turn it on and you will see a dramatic increase in battery life on your iPhone or iPad. You can do this by going to Settings >> Accessibility >> Grayscale. Turn it on and you will see the colors fade away. Since yet, iOS does not have a dedicated way to reduce power usage, this might come in handy sometime.

Make A Call From iOS’s Interactive Notifications

If you’re the kind of person who forgets a lot and have reminders set to call a certain person than this feature might make your day. Since many of us set reminders to call the associated person for an in-time matter to discuss, did you know that Apple’s Reminder app enables you to make a call on the second you are reminded? The trick is extremely simple and not many people know about it. As soon as you get a reminder on your iPhone, swipe the interactive notification to reveal two options, ‘Snooze’ or ‘Call’. You can call the person right away from the Phone app which will pop up. This might save you some time.

    Three Tap Shortcut

While a lot of bloggers may post separate article for each of the accessibility shortcut, here’s one for all. It depends on you what to set on the accessibility shortcut. There are six options available that you can set for accessing when required by pressing the Home Button three times. Open Settings >> General >> Accessibility >> Accessibility Shortcut and select the one you need. The options include:

    • VoiceOver
    • Assisstive Touch
    • Grayscale
    • Invert Colors
    • Zoom
    • Switch Control

So select any option according to your need or desire and press the Home Button three times anywhere and access the shortcut you selected. While each feature has a different role to play, set them according to you priority. You can also select more than one but whenever you would initiate the three press shortcut, a list will appear from where you will select the shortcut.Make the most of your iOS device and give these tricks a swirl. As for now, let us know if you tried these tricks and which one is the most coolest to your ranking.

Here is How to Install AFC2 on TaiG iOS 8.3 Jailbroken Devices

Apple File Conduit (AFC2) package for iOS 8.3 devices is now available. As Apple doesn’t allow native file system access, AFC2 iOS 8.3 would help you to access or browse through the root file structure. Here is how you can use AFC2 iOS 8.3 tool once you have jailbroken your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. Remember, TaiG does not automatically add AFC2 support for your device. Once done, you will be able to access root filesystem directly from your Mac or Windows PC.

[Hot]: Fix TaiG 2.0 “Apple Driver has not been found”, Error 1101, 1102, and More

Install AFC2 iOS 8.3 jailbroken devices:

Once you have jailbroken your iOS 8.3 device, here is how to install AFC2 iOS 8.3:

    • Launch Cydia.
    • Tap Sources > Edit > Add.
    • Type

    • Once repositories are refreshed, search for TaiG AFC2.
    • Tap TaiG AFC2.
    • Install it.
    • When done, respring or reboot your iOS 8.3 device.
    • Once rebooted, connect your iOS device to computer using USB cable.
    • Use any tool like iExplore or iFunBox to access and navigate through the root filesystem.

That’s just about it. Don’t forget to let us know how your TaiG jailbreaking journey is going so far. Also, help us improve this updated list of iOS 8.3 jailbreak tweaks and apps.

Here’s How To Stop App Icons From Disappearing – iOS 8.3 Jailbreak

As impressive as TaiG’s jailbreak of iOS 8.3 was, it came with its fair share of errors. We saw the initial version of the tool show users several errors that caused the process to get stuck at several times during the jailbreak, and there was even one error which caused you to download a different version of iTunes altogether. But Team TaiG was quick to launch an update for its tool which ended up solving majority of these for users. That doesn’t mean there aren’t more errors, and if you’ve been seeing your icons disappear after the jailbreak process, we have just the fix for you today.

Fix App Icons Disappearing After iOS 8.3 Jailbreak Easily

Even after TaiG 2.1.2 was released, several users reported their app icons disappearing out of the blue when iOS 8.3 was jailbroken. But Saurik has been hard at work to make this problem go away, and a fix is now available to prevent this from happening. A fix for this issue has been released for the public. To fix this issue on your device, you’re going to need to update UIToolkit on Cydia. Just launch Cydia, open up changes and refresh the list. This will show you the updated list of repositories.
Search for UIToolkit and simply upgrade to the latest version. Or, if you think doing all of this is too much of a hassle, then simply update Cydia once you’re prompted through ‘Essential Upgrade’. The complete changelog for UIToolkit’s update reads as follows:

Version 1.1.10 now supports iOS 8.3!
This fixes the issue with TaiG jailbreak where sometimes all of your icons would disappear and you would be sad.
(UIKitTools continues to be compatible with all previous versions of iOS.)
So that’s it folks. This should completely stop your app icons from disappearing after you’ve jailbroken iOS 8.3. We’d expect the process to become more smooth over the coming days as Cydia and TaiG both get their periodic updates. All eyes now on Apple’s iOS 9, which should be here in a short while as well. Stay tuned, and let us know what you think in the comments section below.

Beats 1 Kicks Off At 9 AM PT, One Hour After iOS 8.4 Release

iOS 8.4 is on verge to be announced and music fans around the globe are urging to try Apple’s Music Streaming service. The launch schedule drops to an 8 AM launch on Tuesday which is two hours earlier than Apple’s traditional launch of iOS updates. Since the update focuses on the Apple Music debut, the Beats 1 is set to start programming an hour after the launch.

For those who are unfamiliar with Beats 1, it is a radio station set to provide worldwide music streaming 24 hours a day. The station will be hosted by Zane Lowe, a former BBC DJ and there will be a wide array of music and interviews selected by well know personalities like Dr. Dre, Elton John, Drake and Pharrell. More is yet to come as the launch nears in.
Song Limit To Be Increased To 100,000 In iOS 9

More on Apple Music, the subscription fee rests to $9.99 per month for a single user and $14.99 for a family of up to 6 members. However, Beats 1 radio station is free to use for all people who have the service available. The service will be launched on 30th June and the next three months after activation are free to use. Apple has been generous to artists, labels and publishers for compensated payments on the free trial period.

@karlfranks @robmsimoes 25k for launch and working to get to 100k for iOS 9

Moreover, there is an additional news poured by Eddy Cue on Twitter about the song limit on Apple Music. Apple’s Senior Vice President explained that iTunes Music and Apple Music works in a similar manner in terms of matching, recognition and uploading song processes, so there is no need for users to subscribe to both services to get all of the features.
In the current version of iOS, Apple is said to put the song library at the same mark of 25,000 as that of iTunes Music. However, Cue further said that with the arrival of the iOS 9, works in progress to raise that mark to a 100,000. This will not only increase the number of songs in library but users get to have additional features that come with it. Developers who are currently on the iOS 9 beta will also be forwarded the service so its going to be a good day for all. More this will be covered as the news arrives, stay tuned.

Use TaiG v2.1.3 To Jailbreak iOS 8.1.3, 8.2, 8.3 On Windows – How To

TaiG team has released a new update for the jailbreak tool fixing earlier bugs and issues. The following update is compatible with Windows and has support for iOS 8.3 – iOS 8.1.3. Windows users can now jailbreak iOS 8.3 devices for customization beyond restricted Apple boundaries.

Before we begin, some factors need to be considered for a safe and secure jailbreak:

    • Jailbreakers should backup their device data to iCloud or iTunes just in case for any missed operation or technical malfunctioning.
    • Do take note that the the jailbreak done using TaiG v2.1.3 is restricted to Windows users alone.
    • Firmware supported for Jailbreak using TaiG v2 include iOS 8.1.3, 8.2 and 8.3.
    • Devices to support TaiG v2.1.3 jailbreak include iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 5S, 5, 4S, iPad Air, iPad Air 2, iPad Mini 1/2/3, iPod Touch 5 and iPad 2/3/4.
    • Restore iOS 8.3 device (recommended).

As to begin, first thing you have to do is to get the latest version of TaiG Jailbreak. Get TaiG v2.1.3 from here.
    Step 1:

To turn off Find My iPhone, go to Settings >> iCloud >> Find My iPhone and turn it off.
    Step 2:
Connect your iOS 8.1.3, 8.2, 8.3 device to a Windows PC and open the TaiG Tool for jailbreaking, that you downloaded earlier.

    Step 3:

Connect your device correctly so it can be detected and a window will be prompted which will carry information regarding DEBs to be installed and the device information as well. However, a ‘Cant find Apple device’ window will be displayed if detection goes wrong.

    Step 4:
Among the two DEBs displayed, check the ‘Cydia | 1.1.16′ and uncheck 3K ‘Assistant | 2.3.0′ and press start to proceed the jailbreak. The interface will display the progress of jailbreaking which might take a while, so be patient. Once its done, a ‘Jailbreak Succeeded’ message will be displayed.

    Step 5:
After the automatic reboot of your iOS device, your Home screen would have Cydia installed.
And that’s to it, people. You jailbreaked your iOS 8.1.3 – 8.3 device using TaiG v2.1.3. Want some sweet jaibreak tweaks to make your day? Here’s our list of iOS 8.3 compatible jailbreak tweaks. Let us know if it worked out for you.

While he has redacted the information indicating there might have been some change in plan but industry firmly believes that the release will happen at 8.00 am PT. iOS 8.4 Jailbreak Status Update – What to Do?

TaiG team released iOS 8.1.3 – iOS 8.3 jailbreak tool last week. Since then, many in the industry have been calling it a very premature move from the team as Apple was about to release iOS 8.4 for the public. Apple has released iOS 8.4 for public just now which makes jailbreakers question if they should update and get the wonders of Apple Music or wait.
Hot: iOS 8.4 released with Apple Music, Music app, and Beats 1 radio station

While it might not have given Cupertino enough time to patch all the exploits but it’s equally likely that Apple managed to fix at least one of them, if not more. It would have been a better move to release this tool after today as then TaiG 2.x could have possibly been able to jailbreak iOS 8.4 too. On TaiG’s part, it was possibly a good move if the team believed that the exploits they had discovered would be patched in iOS 8.4 giving users just enough time to jailbreak their devices and fix all the issues.
In any case, there’s no reason to fret except if you are seriously looking forward to Apple Music as that won’t run on iOS 8.3. So what to do in the meanwhile to at least save your iOS 8.3 jailbreak?

Jailbreak iOS 8.4 – What to do?

First, keep your hopes up as i0n1c had successfully managed to jailbreak iOS 8.4 beta version; another Twitter user @iOShXr claimed that TaiG tool works with the latest iOS 8.4 beta 4 too. However, except this user no one else has been able to jailbreak iOS 8.4 beta versions.
TaiG has yet to send out any official update on this but after today’s iOS 8.4 release, we might see an announcement coming from the Chinese hacking team. Until then, as we always suggest, don’t update to iOS 8.4 as it might deter any future jailbreaking attempts.
If the team finds out that jailbreak iOS 8.4 is possible, then you can of course go forward with the update. Once certain, you can use iTunes to manually install iOS 8.4 to enjoy Apple Music. Remember, OTA update is disabled for the jailbroken devices. iOS 8.4 also includes fixes for Wi-Fi and the infamous text bugs along with some improvements for iBooks and a redesigned Music app. It would of course be ideal to be able to update to iOS 8.4 and get Music along with all the fixes. Here are the iOS 8.4 direct download links and installation guide.
However, if it cannot be jailbroken, then just stick with iOS 8.3. Even after the iOS 8.4 release, you will get some time to upgrade to iOS 8.3 as Apple takes some time before signing the previous versions. If you have been waiting to jailbreak, wait for the TaiG update and if it’s a no, quickly upgrade to iOS 8.3 and jailbreak your device.

PP Jailbreak Tool For iOS 8.4 Released – Download Here

Only less then two hours have been passed to iOS 8.4 official release [you can download iOS 8.4 IPSW links] and PP Jailbreak hackers have already released a tool to jailbreak iOS 8.4. Impressive timing! Users were quite mind bobbled as to update their iOS and host the Apple Music service or remain on their current version to keep the jailbreak status. Release of Apple Music made the iOS 8.4 even more curious. Luckily, hackers have all figured it out. Lets see how the PP Jailbreak tool goes for different devices.

The jailbreak tool not only works with iOS 8.4 but the latest release offers jailbreak for iOS 8.1.3, 8.2, 8.3 and of course iOS 8.4. However, there seems to be a bit of heat between TaiG jailbreak team and PP Jailbreak team. The Chinese TaiG Team has accused PP Jailbreak of stealing their code for iOS 8.1.3 – iOS 8.3. TaiG team stated:
After the release of iOS8.4, TaiG’s exploit isn’t blocked. BUT PP stole TaiG’s exploit for a jailbreak. The act should be strongly condemned

PP Jailbreak Team Accused Of Stealing TaiG Jailbreak Codes?

The TaiG 2.x jailbreak had some vulnerabilities and it seems not all of them are patched which became the reason for PP Jailbreak team to release an updated and fresh jailbreak tool for the iOS 8.4 version. Henceforth, it is highly expected that the Chinese TaiG team will also release their own version of the iOS 8.4 Jailbreak tool. Its just a matter of time when we hear about it.
However, let us look upon the devices which will support the PP Jailbreak tool. They are as follows, check and tally them for your use.

    • iPod Touch 5G
    • ipad Mini, iPad Mini 2, iPad Mini 3
    • iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad 4, iPad Air, iPad Air 2
    • iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5C, iPhone 5S, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus

If you want to download the PP Jailbreak Tool, it is currently available only for Windows running systems. Mac users can run Windows on a virtual machine to use TaiG jailbreak tool [check our guide]. The latest version of PP Jailbreak can be downloaded from their official Page. Even though the PP Jailbreak tool would work for iOS, it is advised to wait for the TaiG jailbreak team to release their own share. However, if you tried it out, let us know your experience in the comments below.

Users Complain Upgrading To iOS 8.4 Causes GPS Issues

Apple Music made its way to users after the arrival of iOS 8.4 which also included many bug fixes for the OS. However, due to unfortunate technical reasons, some users claim to have trouble with the GPS system in iOS devices. The GPS issue is reported to have arrived after users upgraded to the latest iOS version on iPhone and iPad. Since iOS 8.4 is said to be the last update before iOS 9, there is no news what Apple has in mind to fix the issue.

Users report that the GPS on the iOS device fails to anchor their position while some users claim the accuracy of system is not up to the required standard. Whether users have updated via over the air mechanism or through iTunes, the problems seems to persist with all iOS users. Lets see how the problem goes around with users.
Users Report GPS Issue On Waze, Google Maps And More

There is a bit of struggle for iPhone users to find adequate GPS for location use and miscellaneous users have reported the same thing. Apple’s Music Streaming Service is still an ongoing hot topic but the GPS issue may require a bit of attention. Users complain about the GPS dilemma on Apple Support forums:
    MDriscoll2:
I updated to iOS 8.4 and now my GPS isn’t getting data quickly, when using Maps or Waze for directions it take so long to figure out where it’s at it’s pretty much useless. Anyone else having this issue?

    iPhone 6, iOS 8.4
    Phnsm:
I also have this issue, iOS 8.4 on an iPhone 6+. Waze can’t connect to GPS and Google Maps seemed to struggle to find a GPS signal—and this was in downtown LA, not in the boonies where a problem with GPS signal might be expected.
The GPS issue has affected all location based applications such as Google Maps, Nike+ and Waze. The problem persists even in the rich signal areas and the most possible solution that users report is turning the location service Off and then On again. This might give the GPS a sort of refresh. Even though this trick may not work for all users, you can definitely try your luck by going to Settings >> Privacy and toggle the switch. If you’re facing any issue relating to GPS, let us know in the comments below.

Springtomize 3 Has Been Released For iOS 8.4

Yesterday, Apple’s latest version to its iOS lineup was released that brought Apple Music alongside many bug fixes. The biggest challenge for hackers was to jailbreak it. Luckily it was achieved within the next two hour of iOS 8.4 launch by PP Jailbreak team and TaiG team too comes along. Henceforth, iOS 8.4 is jailbreak-able and its open to hundreds of tweaks with full support.

In that context, Springtomize, one of the most popular jailbreak tweak has been updated which has full support for iOS 8.4. The tweak can be downloaded via the Cydia store right now. Previously, Filippo Bigarella, the developer of Springtomize stated that he wont be able to update the previous version of the tweak due to his internship with Apple but another developer would work on the update.
Springtomize 3 Update Brings Customization, Features And More

The well regarded tweak, Sprintomize 3 is fully functional on iOS 8.4 firmware which is cross checked by many users. The new updated version of Springtomize offers a great diversity in terms of features and an overall feel. Some of the features of Springtomize 3 are listed as follows:

    • Sprintomize 3 able to customize every inch of your iPhone or iPad with enumerable animations and variations in designs.
    • Some of its features include increasing the number of apps on the dock with up to ten icons.
    • The time duration of the system wide animation can variate according to preferences.
    • A new coverflow effect on the docks is pretty awesome.
    • The number of page limits has been removed, so add pages with no restrictions imposed.
    • You also have the ability to customize lock screen and default animations.
    • You can even hide the native app icons from view and many more.

The amount of freedom to change customization is immense which causes the tweak to be highly in demand. Where users download each tweak for a separate purpose, Springtomize 3 enables them to do all of them within itself. Hence its second to none when it comes to power and customization together. Springtomize 3 has full support for TaiG released iOS 8.4 jailbreak. Check out the video for more information.

Users who already have Springtomize 3 installed will get the update iOS 8.4 which will hold absolutely no cost. However, if you are downloading this tweak for the first time, you will be charged with a mere $2.99. As to recommend, this tweak is money well spent. Let us know in the comments how you liked the update.

Activator v1.9.4 Beta Has Been Released For iOS 8.4

If you are willing to give some tweaks a try on iOS 8.4, there are chances that you will need an activator to support them. While the current public version of the Activator does not come in to play with iOS 8.4, the latest beta launched for Activator v1.9.4 will take care of any hurdles. Ryan Patrich’s Activator package is one of the most widely used tool by developers for many tweaks. The package is available in the his repo in Cydia and has been updated to the beta version.

Make sure you grab the Activator beta and ensure your favorite tweaks have a better compatibility. Activator is heavily integrated with the jailbreak work and order henceforth it is one of the most coolest tools that users can make do with. One other major plus point with Ryan Petrich’s Activator is that it keeps itself on the update platform every now and then. While it supports many tweaks, sometimes it denatures the tweaks if not compatible with the iOS version.
Activator Update Brings Fix For Action Banners And Activator API Protection

Sometimes trouble makes way for better things and Ryan is there to fix any malfunctioning of the tool. This makes him stay ahead in his game before any other makes room. So what exactly is part of this new Activator beta v1.9.2? By word it now supports iOS 8.4 which is a welcome change. Apart from this, there is a fix for Action Banners of iOS 8.2+. To stop other tweaks and extensions from accessing the Activator API, an alert dialogue is prompted on the display. This makes up the most of the Activator beta v1.9.2.

. To install the Activator beta v1.9.4, you need to add and following repo to your Cydia source:
After you add the repo to your Cydia source, it will be available for download. As Ryan’s traditional way of releasing a beta before the final launch, users can now give an appropriate feedback to him and highlight adequate functionality of the tool. This is it for the Activator update to the beta with version 1.9.4. Let us know in the comments how do yous liked the update?

TaiG’s Jailbreak Security Weakness Causes App To Become Root

TaiG Jailbreak team has always been keen to release jailbreak for current iOS versions. Recently, it released the jailbreak tool for iOS 8.1.3, 8.2, 8.3 and the most up to date has been released yesterday for iOS 8.4. Though there are hundreds of tweaks supported with the iOS 8.4 version of jailbreak and many more are in the pipeline. Everything seemed well before an issue was spotted in TaiG’s Jailbreak that causes adverse effects on iOS apps.

A security expert and hacker, Stefan Esser or i0n1c reported about the issue in a couple of tweets that the flaw in security allows any app to become root which causes exploitation of user data on the iOS running device. The user data exploits technically exposes the iOS security which might not be favorable for the user.
