    ReCore [X1]

ReCore, the Xbox One Exclusive From Mega Man Creator Gets More Details

Keiji Inafune, the man behind Mega Man, Onimusha and even the Dead Rising series, has revealed some more great details concerning his next venture, ReCore in a short interview done by Microsoft’s Xbox division.

Keiji Inafune and Mark Pacini talk about the main character, your robot companion and the main idea behind the story.

They reveal that the main character is Jewel who has a deep relationship with her robot companion, Mack. Mack found Jewel at the beginning of the game and helped to save her forming a very special bond between the two that’s evident throughout. Mack the robot dog belongs to a particular faction of robots that wish to help humanity prosper again.
In ReCore, humanity is on the brink of extinction with another faction of robots that seeks to stop Jewel, Mack and the other faction from completing their goal. The tension between those two groups also increases as the game progresses and you move into underground areas.
“The relationship between the friendly robots in the game and the enemy robots in the game, they get more volatile and deadlier as you go underground and find these areas. That’s where all the good stuff is, and that’s what you’re trying to explore,”
    – Mark Pacini
Even though Mack himself is defeated in the trailer, that isn’t the end of him though. A key concept in the game is that so long as his core remains than it can be implanted into other robots and forms so that he can almost literally become anything you wish.

“Mack’s consciousness still remains in the core and by implanting the core into another robot … Mack will live on in another form.”
    – Keiji Inafune
Another interesting mechanic is the way in which weather can affect maps. The aftermath of sandstorms in particular can change the landscape dramatically and will help shape the way you play the game.
Being that humanities population is sparse, ReCore’s central theme is that of survival, but not in the more popular survival horror type of way either. You’ll meet many different companions and have to think of how to survive in a world where humans aren’t necessarily liked very much.
“This is a very epic story full of mystery and adventure. As I said, robots play a very important role in this adventure, and there will be many more robots that will lead to a rich experience. There will also be many other companion robots you can partner with, and each of the different robots will lead to unique adventures.”
    – Keiji Inafune
ReCore has been in development for around 14 months now and doesn’t have a set release date as it’s very much in the early stages of development. It’s exciting to see a new IP make its way to the Xbox One, or any console, instead of trying to rely solely on remakes and remasters. Quite frankly the main story sounds very interesting and I can see the emphasis on the relationship with Mack being integral for a very emotional story. Whether that turns out good or bad will be determined when we can get our hands on it.

ReCore Version For PC Intimated by Armature Studio Employee Profile

An employee from Armature Studio, the developer working on ReCore, has apparently mentioned that they have experience working on ReCore and list it as being an Xbox One and a PC title.

Is a PC version of ReCore possibly in the works?

Spotted originally on NeoGAF by user Shiggy, it appears that on an employees personal portfolio website they happen to mention that ReCore is on PC as well as the Xbox One.
    RECORE
    Developer: Armature Studio
    Platform(s): Xbox One, PC
ReCore is an upcoming 3rd-person action adventure game being developed in partnership with Keiji Inafune, exclusive for Xbox One and Windows 10. In ReCore, you play one of the last surviving humans and team up with a variety of robot companions to travel through a hostile and mysterious world. Having just been announced, I am not at liberty to post any more details about the game just yet, but Microsoft has big plans for the game and the IP over the coming year.
Further into the profile it seems that they also mention ReCore as a PC game listed as part of his experience, meaning that if it’s been written twice, it wasn’t necessarily on accident. It doesn’t mean it’s true, either, but it’s nice to know that perhaps there’s a chance that this novel RPG could make it’s way onto the PC.

    EXPERIENCE
    Senior/Principal Designer – Armature Studios (2010 – Present)
    Recore (Xbox One, PC)
Oddly, though, Shiggy also seems to have found another mention of ReCore for PC by yet another employee of Armature Studios, at least not explicitely. The Linkedin profile states that this individual has trained individuals on Unity for a game that’s on both Xbox One and the PC.
None of this is definitive in it’s own right, and categorizing ReCore as a PC game could very well be a way to set the Internet ablaze, but it’s also in line with the statements that Kudo Tsunoda made regarding allowing gamers to play “wherever they want, on whatever device they choose, and making that easy,” by at least integrating some cross-play gaming features into Windows 10. That may very well be a reference to streaming from the Xbox One, which is indeed decidedly easy to do.
Then again, Xbox One exclusivity could also be within increasingly blurry lines while the underlying OS essentially becomes just another variation of Windows 10. It is a PC at it’s heart, and it’s OS is even one that is familiar, so what does it now mean to have Xbox One exclusivity

Legendary Halo Writer Joseph Staten Is The Lead Writer On ReCore For Xbox One

Former Bungie veteran Joseph Staten is in fact the lead writer for Keiji Inafune’s ReCore for the Xbox One.

An article published by the NYTimes, suggests that Staten is the lead writer for Inafune’s new Xbox One title. Staten joined Twitter some months ago, after which he announced that he’s helping out Microsoft Game Studios telling stories for Scalebound, ReCore, Quantum Break, and Crackdown.
As the article from the NYTimes is correct though, Staten is not merely helping Microsoft out, but is ReCore’s lead writer.
In the NYTimes article, Staten was asked about female characters in games such as ReCore. In ReCore, main female character Joule tries to revive the human race. According to Staten, how she does this, will be rather unconventional.
Staten on ReCore and its main character

“The male gender does not have the monopoly on heroism,” he said. “Joule is emblematic of this conviction, and we hope she’s a character who stands strong and stands out in a market filled with male heroes.”
With Staten being the lead writer on ReCore, we have high hopes for this title. Staten has been Microsoft’s Halo writer and director of cinematics since the original Halo. He left Microsoft back in 2009 for a job as writer and design director on Destiny. As of January 2014 though, Staten is back at Microsoft as Senior Creative Director.
Xbox One exclusive ReCore was announced at the E3 of 2015, and is to be developed by Keiji Inafune’s studio, Comcept. Inafune is joined by Metroid Prime developer Armature Studio.
ReCore tells the story of Joule on her quest to save mankind, and will feature a mysterious, dynamic world.

Xbox’s Spencer On ReCore PC; More Crackdown Info Coming

ReCore is coming to PC, and on Twitter, Microsoft’s Phil Spencer talked about this decision. The Xbox head also mentioned Crackdown 3 in his tweets.

Yesterday, Microsoft reported that all of their Xbox Holiday exclusives sold well over 1 million copies. This applies to Rise of the Tomb Raider, Halo 5, Forza 6, and Gears of War: Ultimate Edition.
“2015 was a monumental year for Xbox – the biggest in our history – and we owe it all to our gaming community. We saw record global engagement and sales fueled by high demand for our greatest games line-up and hardware and accessories like the best-selling Xbox One Gears of War: Ultimate Edition Bundle and our Elite Controller. Every title in our exclusive 2015 holiday games line-up – Halo 5: Guardians, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Forza Motorsport 6 and Gears of War: Ultimate Edition – sold over 1 million units”, Microsoft’s Mike Nichols said on the Xbox Wire website.
Alongside this announcement, Microsoft’sCorporate Vice President also posted a snapshot of exclusive 2016 titles that have currently been announced. Interestingly ReCore is listed as both an Xbox One, and Windows 10 title. On top of that, Crackdown 3’s multiplayer mode is listed to release in Summer 2016.

Following questions from the Xbox community, Microsoft’s head of Xbox Phil Spencer, took to Twitter to answer some of the questions regarding ReCore and Crackdown.
Spencer confirmed that ReCore is coming to PC via Windows 10, and Spencer pointed out that Microsoft will keep focusing on the Xbox One Experience and in turn, bringing this ‘experience’ to Windows 10. It’s up to the player, on which platform the game is played.

ReCore For PC & Xbox One Delayed To “Latter 2016” According MS Spokesperson

ReCore for Xbox One and PC possibly been delayed to the latter half of 2016. The adventure title from ‘Mega Man’ co-creator Keiji Inafune, was initially slated for a release in the Spring of 2016.

Website Engadget reports that they were contacted by a Microsoft spokesperson who stated that ReCore will launch “in the latter half of 2016”. According to Engadget, the full statement from the spokesperson reads as follows: “We have not yet set a launch date for ReCore however the game will be ready in the latter half of 2016″.
ReCore delay in line with Microsoft’s exclusive 2016 list

The delay hasn’t been officially confirmed, but we’re pretty sure Microsoft will soon. In line with the rumored delay, is the snapshot of announced exclusive 2016 titles that Microsoft’s Corporate Vice President Of Marketing For Xbox, Mike Nichols, posted yesterday on the Xbox Wire blog.

Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition(Xbox One & Windows 10) – Spring 2016
    Cobalt(Xbox One, Xbox 360 & Steam) – Feb. 2, 2016
Prior to this list, and the announcement that ReCore would also be released for PC, Microsoft always talked about a Spring 2016 release. In the list above, that Spring release has been altered to merely ‘2016’.
A week ago we reported that former Bungie veteran, Joseph Staten, is in fact the lead writer for ReCore. With Staten being the lead writer on ReCore, we have high hopes for this title.
