Warframe to Make a Big Reveal at PAX East

The F2P Third-Person Space Ninja shooter Warframe, from the Canadian based Developers ‘Digital Extremes’ (DE) will be hosting their second ‘TennoLive’ event, during PAX East on March 6th they said in a press release. The first TennoLive was held last year at Gamescom where DE revealed one of their upcoming major gameplay features ‘Archwing’. TennoLive will be Live-streamed on Twitch as well as having an on-site audience.

New factions may come to Warframe as well as old ones resurfacing

Warframe launched its Closed Alpha back in early 2012, and at that time it was mostly for family & friends. During October 2012 they slowly started to transition into Closed Beta, and finally during March 2013 they entered their Open Beta phase. Now the game is still branded “Beta” to this day, and it might be so for some time according to the DE. Since they often revamp gameplay mechanics and such, one example would be that they revamped the entire Damage system back in 2013 to “Damage 2.0″, and they have since made a few other “2.0” revamps.
Since transitioning into Open Beta Warframe has gotten a total of 9 Major patches such as “Update 15″, which are the major content milestones you could say. In between each Major patch there are countless of smaller patches (15.xx) with minor content additions, such as new weapons, new enemies and the occasional new map Tileset as well as Ingame Events that usually come with Rewards for the players in the form of new Mods (mods are used to alter stats on your equipment) etc.
These smaller patches or just regular old hotfixes roll out every single week, “Patch day” is usually Wednesday’s and obviously hotfixes can roll out at anytime of the week. The next major patch is Update 16, which will be brining 8 Player Raids amongst other things. In DE’s own words from their Developer Live-Streams that are held every other Friday, Update 16 is “Right around the corner” and coming “Soon™”. If you want to check out the Evolution of Warframe I’d suggest you head on over here and have a look at that info-graphic from November last year.

Only 6 days until the @PlayWarframe Tennolive event at PAX East. There are whisperings of some big reveal...

Now as for the Big reveal itself during TennoLive, I can only speculate, but during previous Dev-Streams DE has mentioned that they might be shaking up one of the “Endgame grinding” places, aka “The Void”, and that an age-old enemy might be returning. The former has already started to happen, some of the resources you need to improve your equipment (Fusion Cores) have already been shifted out into some of the Normal missions on the Star Chart. If it’s the latter then in all likelihood it is going to be the return of the Faction/Race called “The Sentients”, which according to the little Lore that Warframe has, was the main enemy which the Tenno (you the player) fought thousands of years ago. But hey It could be something else entirely that they have not talked about before.
Warframe is currently out on PC, PS4 and XB1. With PC as the leading platform meaning that the console versions are usually behind on the updates due to Sony and Microsoft’s Certification process. If you haven’t tried Warframe and you like to shoot stuff, I’d suggest checking it out. It won’t cost you a thing to at least check it out. In my personal opinion it’s one of the few F2P titles that does the Free part right, with a few exceptions. If you already are playing Warframe, what are your thoughts on U.16?

Warframe Revealed Upcoming Features and Content During “TennoLive” at PAX East

In a previous article we mentioned that the developers behind the The F2P Third-Person Space Ninja shooter Warframe – Digital Extremes (DE) had some big reveals planned for their Live-stream during PAX East. They had one major reveal which you can check out further down, and they also teased and outlined some of the coming new stuff for 2015.

Warframe Will Receive a New Faction called ‘The Sentient’ as well as an Improved Parkour system and other goodies

What we got to see at TennoLive was the long-awaited unveiling of the long-lost (and long-awaited by the players) enemy of the Tenno – The Sentient. They also showed off some of the new Parkour moves (in the trailer) which will be coming with Parkour 2.0 later this year. Finally we got a glimpse of the new Dragon-themed Warframe which is slated to come out quite soon with Update-16, which will also include a complete re-vamp of the PvP system and add more “End-game” content in the form of 8-man Raids with ridiculously high-level enemies and puzzles.
With the new Parkour system coming, Warframes will have new ways to navigate both new and familiar tricky areas with new stylish moves. There will be a trio of new weapons to wield while doing so, including the Community Concept weapon, the Mios, the Puncture Glaive and the Dark Dakra, in honor of the two year-anniversary of Warframe. The reveal of the new enemy faction and quite possible the name of the next major update – Tombs of the Sentient can be seen below.

As for the parkour shown in the video, well that has been needed for quite some time, the old parkour system works, but it’s not perfect. And stuff like holding onto walls as in the video is not possible with the current parkour system, I’m looking forward to it quite a lot.
And an excerpt from a press release reads:
All new features and content revealed will be released throughout the rest of 2015. Fans tuning into the bi-weekly Warframe Devstreams will continue to be the first to hear additional details and launch dates for this new content. The next regularly scheduled Devstream airs on twitch.tv/Warframe at 2:00 p.m. EDT, March 20 th.
So I guess we might hear some time-frames soon, but DE are known for sometimes having to delay updates, either due to fixing issues or just deciding that “hey we should add this content as well”. I’m pumped either way. If you wish to watch the entire TennoLive stream from PAX East, you can do so below.

Steam Controller and Workshop Support Added to Warframe on PC

Earlier this week we saw the launch of Steam Machines (at last!) and that means that Steam OS, the Steam Controller and more are all now fully out in the world and ready for people to use. To celebrate this, Warframe developer Digital Extremes have update their AAA Free-to-Play title to support it.

    WARFRAME @PlayWarframe
Tenno! We're excited to announce Steam Controller support now available for Warframe! Find out more here: http://ow.ly/UtXip

Warframe now supports the official Steam Controller, which is great news for those using it on PC or those who are using a Steam OS powered Steam Machine. Even cooler than that, the game now supports Steam Workshop, opening up the doors for a huge range of user-created content. Meanwhile, the developer is promising to tweak and update both of these new features based on player feedback.
“We’re always looking for new and exciting ways to support and encourage players’ interests in becoming more involved with Warframe,” said Rebecca Ford, Community Manager at Digital Extremes. “The quality level of this first round of beautifully created user-generated content from our Community is beyond impressive and is the beginning of what we hope will grow into a thriving resource for both creators and players. TennoGen truly delivers content made by Tenno, for Tenno.”
Gamers not as artistically inclined but interested in participating in the process are encouraged to vote on early submissions they’d like to see in Warframe on the official TennoGen Steam Workshop website.
For more details on the submission process for user-made TennoGen content, please visit the Steam Workshop FAQ on the officialWarframe forums.
Warframe is available for free download on PC, PS4™ and Xbox One. To find out more about Warframe here.

Warframe gets the Gyromancer seal of approval

TR's own Nathan Wasson, aka Gyromancer, has been spending some time recently with Warframe. This free-to-play, third-person action MMO is developed by Digital Extremes, and it puts you in the armor of a space ninja. Warframe's gameplay modes let you run through various missions with fellow ninjas as you discover more about the world you're immersed in. Once you feel confident with your ninja capabilities, you can try your hand at the game's various PvP modes.
Watch Nathan's video for all the details:
