http://www.tweaktown.com/news/40523/apple-remains-the-no-1-most-valuable-brand-in-the-world/index.html

Apple is No. 1 and Google No. 2 on the most valuable brands list, both above $100 billion (NASDAQ:AAPL, NASDAQ:GOOG)

Apple has been awarded the most valuable brand in the world for a second consecutive year, worth an estimated $119 billion, according to the Interbrands 2014 Best Global Brands list. There are four technology companies in the top 10 this year, though tech remains extremely fickle, forcing companies to try to adapt to changing customer demands.

http://imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/4/0/40523_01_apple_remains_the_no_1_most_valuable_bran d_in_the_world.jpg (http://www.tweaktown.com/image.php?image=http://imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/4/0/40523_01_apple_remains_the_no_1_most_valuable_bran d_in_the_world_full.jpg)

"A lot of our thinking about this year's report is really around the 'Age of You,'" said Alfred DuPuy, Interbrand Executive Director.

Trailing behind Apple is Google ($107.4 billion), a 15 percent increase year-over-year, and Coca-Cola round out the top three - with IBM, Microsoft, General Electric, Samsung, Toyota, McDonald's, and Mercedes-Benz round out the top 10 overall most valued brands in the world. As an honorable mention, Facebook's value increased 86 percent, and the company jumped up to No. 29 on the list - and will likely continue to rise.

Google could beat Apple to be the world's first $1 trillion company (http://www.tweaktown.com/news/40546/google-could-beat-apple-to-be-the-world-s-first-1-trillion-company/index.html)By: Anthony Garreffa (http://www.tweaktown.com/author/Anthony-Garreffa/index.html) | More News: Business, Financial & Legal (http://www.tweaktown.com/news/business_financial_and_legal/index.html) | Posted: 6 hours, 47 mins ago
It was only April of 2014 where most, ourselves included, thought Apple were well on its way to be valued at over $1 trillion (http://www.tweaktown.com/news/23476/apple_could_be_the_world_s_first_1_trillion_compan y/index.html). But, it looks like Google will beat Apple to this milestone, but it would have to more than double Apple's stock performance before 2020.

http://imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/4/0/40546_03_google_could_beat_apple_to_be_the_world_s _first_1_trillion_company.jpg (http://www.tweaktown.com/image.php?image=http://imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/4/0/40546_03_google_could_beat_apple_to_be_the_world_s _first_1_trillion_company_full.jpg)

While Apple makes consumer electronics and online services, like the iPhone, iTunes, and more, Google steps right out of those boundaries. It has a massively used search engine, mobile OS and hardware, partnerships with virtually every player in the technology and manufacturing industry, artificial intelligence, robotics, health technology, the list truly goes on.

Colin Gillis, an analyst with BGC Capital, wrote in a research note to clients on Friday: "If you look at the range of [projects] Google is attacking, it represents opportunities on a much more massive scale than Apple is addressing". He added: "What are we going to get from Apple - a thinner iPad?". Right now, Apple is the most valuable US company, with a market capitalization of $599 billion, compared to Google's $372 billion.

A Microsoft paga obviamente...

Enfim, eu fico parvo.

Finnish Prime Minister claims Apple ruined its two key exports (http://www.techspot.com/news/58418-finnish-prime-minister-claims-apple-ruined-key-exports.html)

There’s no shortage of explanations as to the cause of the recent global recession as many economies have struggled in recent years. Finnish Prime Minister Alexander Stubb has taken a different approach, however, as he has accused Apple of single-handedly ruining two of the country’s largest exports.During a recent interview with CNBC, Stubb blamed the iPhone for killing Nokia and the iPad for the decline of the Finnish paper industry. It’s not the first time that Stubb has called out Apple for eliminating jobs (http://www.cultofmac.com/286285/steve-took-jobs-says-finnish-prime-minister/) in his country and depending on your view, his comments aren’t entirely off-base.
http://static.techspot.com/images2/news/bigimage/2014-10-13-image-16.jpg
Nokia was a household name in the late ‘90s and early 2000s as it was responsible for about a third of all mobile phones at one point. Seemingly content to rest on their laurels, the Finnish handset maker failed to keep pace with the rapidly-advancing wireless industry and ultimately ceded virtually their entire market share to Apple and Samsung.
While smartphones were responsible for adding more functionality on top of an already existing cell phone market, Apple’s iPad created an entirely new industry at the expense of established markets and largely shifted reading to tablets. As the LA Times (http://www.latimes.com/business/technology/la-fi-tn-apple-finland-20141013-story.html) points out, Finland’s production of paper for printing and writing has been on the decline since the arrival of Apple’s slate.
http://static.techspot.com/images2/news/bigimage/2014-10-13-image-17.jpg
Stubb wasn’t all doom and gloom, however, as he promised his country would make a comeback as dire times lead to innovation.

Apple on Tuesday revealed that sales of its Mac personal computers set all time record in the fiscal 2014 fourth quarter ended September 27, 2014. The company noted that the most popular Macintosh personal computers were the MacBook Air and the MacBook Pro laptops.
“We established an all-time quarterly record for Mac sales with revenue growing 18% year-over-year, thanks in particular to the very strong performance of our portables,” said Tim Cook, chief executive officer of Apple. “We are especially proud of our Mac results considering the overall contraction of the global PC market this year and we achieved our highest quarterly market share since 1995.”
For the second time in the history of Apple, sales of Macs exceeded five million units per quarter and totaled 5.52 million units. It is especially remarkable that Apple has not released any all-new Macintosh computers during the quarter. Still, this year it made the entry-level MacBook Air, MacBook Pro (with retina screen) and iMac 21.5″ models more affordable, added muscle to its MacBook Pro and MacBook Air laptops and introduced its all-new Mac OS X “Yosemite” operating system.
http://www.kitguru.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/apple_mac_osx_macbook_imac_macbookpro.jpg (http://www.kitguru.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/apple_mac_osx_macbook_imac_macbookpro.jpg)
“We saw great demand in the back-to-school season for both desktops and portables with especially strong growth for MacBook Pro and MacBook Air,” said Luca Maestri, chief financial officer of Apple. “We achieved double-digit Mac growth across most markets around the world, with particularly impressive performance in emerging markets where Mac sales were up 46%.”
http://www.kitguru.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/apple_mac_sales_historical-1024x421.png (http://www.kitguru.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/apple_mac_sales_historical.png)
Based on Apple’s revenue report, average selling price (ASP) of a Mac PC during the quarter was $1200, which is generally in line with the ASP of $1255 in the previous quarter and $1229 during the same quarter a year ago. The release of the iMac 27” with 5K retina-class screen will help Apple to drive its ASPs up in the coming quarters.

Apple's market value tips over $700 billion

Apple has become the first company to jump over the $700 billion milestone, thanks to a rise in shares pushing them to this evaluation earlier today.

http://imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/4/1/41440_025_apple_s_market_value_tips_over_700bn_us. jpg (http://www.tweaktown.com/image.php?image=imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/4/1/41440_025_apple_s_market_value_tips_over_700bn_us_ full.jpg)

Apple shares experienced an almost-one percent rise this morning in the US market, seeing them now valued at $119.75 and meaning their market capitalization was made equal to around $701.7 billion.

This marks a massive 48% rise in 2014, with constant improvement seen since April. Reportedly due to Apple claiming they will go to extra measures to boost their share price, they announced its first stock split in nine years - claiming it would buy back another $30 billion in stock. This coupled with a quarterly dividend raise has shown massive success for the tech giant.

Although providing a lacklustre performance in the tablet field, Apple has recently released their iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus models which is one of the major reasons for the growth in market share and company valuation. They're now quoted to be the most valuable company by stock market value, with Exxon Mobil weighing in at $403 billion US and Microsoft sitting at $394 billion.

Apple Becomes First Company to be Worth $700 Billion

http://cdn.eteknix.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/5thAveHero_5x5_78_300dpi_111105.jpg
Late yesterday, during Tim Cook’s talk at the Goldman Sachs Technology and Internet Conference, the CEO was informed that Apple had just become the most valuable company in history, reaching a $700 billion market cap for the first time.
This news follows Apple’s announcement that it had the most profitable quarter of any company in history. The company sold 74.5 million iPhones in the last quarter – 30,000 per hour, producing an overall $18 billion profit for the company.
It’s pretty incredible to think that, in 1997, 18 years ago, Apple was 90 days away from bankruptcy with its then terrible CEO Gill Amelio. “Bozo” Amelio, as Jobs called him, was soon to be ousted after exactly 500 days at the company, when Steve Jobs returned upon the purchase of his company, NeXT, in the last few days of 1996. At that point Apple was losing billions, but it didn’t take all too long for Jobs to bring the company back into the black, thanks to the iMac and the iPod.
What a different story it is today.

Capitalization of Apple could exceed $1 trillion (http://www.kitguru.net/apple/anton-shilov/capitalization-of-apple-could-exceed-1-trillion/)

This week Carl Icahn, a well-known activist investor, as well as a leading financial analyst said that Apple’s stock has massive growth potential and that the company’s capitalization could exceed whopping $1 trillion, which would be the highest market cap of any public company ever.
http://www.kitguru.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/apple_store_2-1024x552.jpg (http://www.kitguru.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/apple_store_2.jpg)
At present Apple’s stock is traded at $125 – $127, which is a massive increase from $66.77 on the 13th of August, 2013. Carl Icahn believes that Apple’s stock is still seriously undervalued because Apple’s earnings are expected to grow considerably faster than those of other S&P500 companies. Icahn Capital LP forecasts (http://www.shareholderssquaretable.com/letter-to-twitter-followers-regarding-apple/%20) that in FY2016 and FY2017 Apple will grow its earnings-per-share (EPS) by over 20% per year, which is a massive growth. If Apple introduces a TV in FY 2016 as Carl Icahn’s company expects, this EPS growth accelerates to over 31% per year in IC’s model.
“Because of this, we believe the market should value Apple at a P/E of at least 20x, which together with net cash of $22 per share, would value Apple shares today at $216 per share,” said Carl Icahn in an open letter. “This is not a future price target. $216 is what we think Apple is worth TODAY.”
At present, Apple’s capitalization is $740 billion, but if the stock price climbs to $216, then the company’s value will increase to well over $1 trillion. While Carl Icahn’s model is in many ways very optimistic, it has proved to be correct in a number of cases.
http://www.kitguru.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/apple_store_3-1024x812.jpg
Steve Milunovich, an analyst with UBS who is clearly more conservative than Carl Icahn, this week raised his target for Apple stock to $150. The market observer believes that extension of Apple’s platform to watches, growing popularity of iPhone, services like Apple Pay and other factors will help the company to further improve its earnings and profitability, which will eventually lead to increase of market capitalization to over $1 trillion.
“Although Apple the device company took the market cap to $700 billion, Apple the platform company may take it to $1 trillion,” wrote Mr. Milunovich in a note to clients, reports Tech Trader Daily (http://blogs.barrons.com/techtraderdaily/2015/02/13/apple-platform-make-take-it-to-1-trillion-says-ubs/?mod=BOLBlog).
The analyst notes that the platform and ecosystem of Apple’s iOS software is becoming more important to a “seamless” experience for users across devices.
“Although Apple hardware is tightly integrated, the company is more proficient at creating partnership, providing the gravity in the Appleverse,” noted Mr. Milunovich.
http://www.kitguru.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/apple_all_products_macbook_iphone_ipad_mac-1024x249.jpg
This is not the first time when certain market observers predict that Apple’s market capitalization could exceed one trillion of dollars. However, this time two respected market observers predict the same, which is a reason to actually consider this.
While $1 trillion is a tremendous amount of money, it is still dramatically lower than the value of Saudi Aramco, a state-owned Saudi Arabian national petroleum and natural gas company. According to estimates the Financial Times made several years ago, the value of Aramco could be as high as $7 trillion.

Gartner says Apple must innovate to replicate strong 2014 sales

Ahead of the Mobile World Congress 2015 in Barcelona next month, analysts are picking apart the current state of the smartphone market. Consumers have a number of appealing choices at the moment, as the smartphone market is "highly mature," and it is becoming harder for vendors to differentiate from one another.

image: http://imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/4/3/43718_01_gartner-apple-innovate-replicate-strong-2014-sales.jpg (http://www.tweaktown.com/image.php?image=imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/4/3/43718_01_gartner-apple-innovate-replicate-strong-2014-sales_full.jpg)
http://imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/4/3/43718_01_gartner-apple-innovate-replicate-strong-2014-sales.jpg

"While Apple had a very successful 2014 and a record fourth quarter, Apple has to come up with something innovative in 2015 to replicate record sales," said Annette Zimmermann, researcher director at Gartner, in a press statement.

Samsung has 28 percent global smartphone market share (28 percent), ahead of Apple (16.4 percent), Lenovo (7.9 percent), LG Electronics (6 percent), and Huawei (5.9 percent), according to TrendForce. However, the competition is becoming explosive with Huawei capturing 5.9 percent market share, putting everyone else on notice that it is a serious contender.

In addition, analysts believe Samsung will also need to innovate with global competition heating up, after the company's lead dropped 4.5 percent from 2013 to 2014.

Apple’s worth now twice that of world’s second biggest company (http://www.kitguru.net/channel/jon-martindale/apples-worth-now-twice-that-of-worlds-second-biggest-company/)

Apple is far and beyond the biggest company in the world at the moment, with its market value of $774 (£501) billion taking it into the heady heights of some of the most valuable companies in history. While it might still be beaten out by the legends of the ages like the Dutch East India Company (which if valued in today’s figures, would have been worth over $7 trillion), its financial weight is so much, that it could swallow its nearest rival ExxonMobil twice, with some market value to spare.Of course even Apple doesn’t have that kind of liquid money to spare, as although much smaller than the fruity firm, ExxonMobil is valued at $377 billion currently. Apple does however have around $180 billion in liquid funds according to some (http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/gadgets-and-tech/news/apple-has-enough-cash-to-buy-to-buy-most-of-the-worlds-biggest-companies-with-change-to-spare-10007993.html). That means that if it wanted to it could attempt takeovers of real industry giants like Intel, or even Amazon with some change left over.
http://www.kitguru.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/applebuilding.jpg (http://www.kitguru.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/applebuilding.jpg)
Companies like Google and Facebook are still out of reach too, worth more than $300 and $200 billion respectively, but perhaps in the future it might be possible. Apple’s share price has risen over 20 per cent in the first two months of this year alone and with the upcoming launch of its smartwatch expected to take the market by storm, that trend should continue in the future.
As the Telegraph (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/mediatechnologyandtelecoms/electronics/11431132/Apple-now-twice-as-big-as-worlds-second-largest-company-ExxonMobil.html) points out, the Cupertino based company recently asked Chinese suppliers to produce some five million of the devices, which represents real confidence in a brand new product like for the company. This too, despite the fact that most wearables are only staying on people’s wrists for a few months after purchase.
Still, with those giant cash reserves, some have painted Apple as a cash hoarder, which is something current CEO Tim Cook disagrees with.
“By and large, my view is for cash that we don’t need, with some level of buffer, we want to give it back,” he said. “It may come across that we are but we are not hoarders.”

Impressionante.

Apple a trillian dollar company -- myth debunked

http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/4c964e01b20606c137862ace4df9e4a2_L.jpg (http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/4c964e01b20606c137862ace4df9e4a2_XL.jpg)

Why is the Tame Press talking up Apple value?
The Tame Apple Press (http://tameapplepress.blogspot.it/) is trying to talk up the value of a peddler of overpriced toys and is pretending that it is actually news.

The goal of the campaign is to make Apple the world's first trillion dollar company, without actually having to make an original product.
A fake story is being repeated claiming that the Apple watch will be such a success that Apple's share value will jump from $127 to $180. If that happens then Apple will be worth a trillion dollars instead of its current $744 billion
It adds that Wall Street analysts are certain that this will happen.
Of course if you invest in the share market, you will think that Apple shares are hugely undervalued now and hope to cash in. This will artificially push up the share price.
But the information is not actually true. In fact most Wall Street investors are getting out of Apple. The thought is that even if the watch was super-successful it is not going to cover for the fact that interest in tablets and smartphones is falling.
So what was the source for all these industry analysts? Well it turns out that there was only one Cantor Fitzgerald. In a note sent out to investors, one of the firm's analysts, Brian White, stated that Apple's share price could soon jump to $180, a step up from its current $127 price tag.
However White mentioned the watch but his enthusiasm was not that high. In fact he talked about things being dependant on how Apple did in China.
"Also, we believe Apple's iPhone portfolio and position in China have never been stronger. Finally, Apple has shown its commitment to returning cash to shareholders, and we expect more in April," said White.
White has a long history of being bullish on Apple and constantly says that the share price will go up – even when it didn't.
White's claims have too many what ifs. For example it depends on the iWatch selling nearly five times more than most sane people would suggest.
It also requires Apple to do well in China. I have written before about how Apple has not been doing as well in China as its hype suggests.
Already the Chinese government has started to investigate whether Apple's products are a security risk.
Apple also faces both local and global competition in China, all eager to profit from sales in the world's most populous nation.
According to researchers from Canalys, Apple has to beat Samsung, which is about to make a big come back and then Chinese companies Xiaomi and Huawei.
Apple's watch is also way behind what is available in the market and signs from the US suggest it might not be that popular.
If the smartwatch is a failure, or China gets too messy Apple's share price will plummet and not go up.
Apple's default position for moderate success is the $100 it hit last October, before it was clear that the new iPhone would be a success. That success followed by a failure in China, or with Apple Watch, could drive the price back there -- unless the Tame Apple Press can continue to talk it up.

Tech industry dominates most valued brands by billions

http://www.techspot.com/images2/news/bigimage/2015/07/2015-07-14-image-24.jpg

The force is strong with the tech industry. Forbes' coveted list of the top 25 most valued brands (http://www.forbes.com/powerful-brands/list/) was dominated by major technology companies like Apple, Microsoft, IBM, Google, Intel, Samsung, Cisco, SAP, Oracle, AT&T and Verizon. The combined valuation of these businesses reaches $436.4 billion. The rest of the list, filled with food, retail and car companies, came to $375.5 billion.
Apple (again) topped Forbes' list with a $104.3 billion valuation and 20% growth. We aren't surprised; Apple posted record sales for the iPhone 5S and 6, alongside increased distribution of their Mac computer line. Apple's wealth is so great that they could bail out Greece (http://www.wired.com/2015/07/apple-bailed-greece-twice/) from its debt crisis -- twice.
Microsoft came in second at a $56.7 billion valuation that's only slightly over half of Apple's. Microsoft's capital has remained stagnant in the last three years, leading to thousands of layoffs and a push to become a relevant innovator through Windows 10 and products like HoloLens (http://www.techspot.com/news/61080-microsoft-admits-hololens-flawed-launch.html).
IBM was listed -- above Google -- at number four with a valuation of $50.7 billion. IBM faced tough odds during the 1990's dot-com bubble, but has since regained its prestige as one of the wealthiest companies on Earth. IBM manages thousands of valuable patents while pioneering artificial intelligence and new computing technologies, such as neurosynaptic chips (http://research.ibm.com/cognitive-computing/neurosynaptic-chips.shtml#fbid=9JnxIhEbh_s).
http://www.techspot.com/images2/news/bigimage/2015/07/2015-07-15-image-2.png
Intel, valued at $30.9 billion, was the only tech company on the list that declined. Traditionally a chip maker for PCs, Intel has had no trouble staying ahead of AMD, but has struggled to gain a strong foothold in the rapidly growing mobile computing market where ARM-based chips from the likes of Qualcomm, Samsung and others have taken the lead.
While Forbes' report paints a favorable picture for the tech sector, things aren't going as smoothly for everyone in its ever-changing landscape. As we've noted, PC sales have dropped (http://www.techspot.com/news/61342-struggle-real-acer-revenues-dip-30-percent-second.html) for established brands like Acer, while other financial woes might still be ahead if venture capitalists like Tallat Mahmood are right in their prediction that we're in another tech bubble (http://techcrunch.com/2015/06/26/the-tech-industry-is-in-denial-but-the-bubble-is-about-to-burst/) that's about to burst.

Cumprimentos.
