(lol)

Nexus 6 - Pre-orders sell out in minutes

It looks like Google has not learnt from its past experiences of underestimating the popularity (http://hexus.net/mobile/news/android/50793-google-underestimated-nexus-4-popularity-factor-ten/) of its Nexus devices. The company's recently announced flagship Nexus 6 (http://hexus.net/ce/news/mobile-phones/75877-google-unveils-motorola-made-nexus-6-smartphone/) smartphone went up for pre-orders (https://play.google.com/store/devices/details/Nexus_6_32GB_Midnight_Blue?id=nexus_6_blue_32gb)ye sterday and managed to sell out in just minutes, reports Pocket-lint (http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/131544-you-can-now-pre-order-google-nexus-6-or-not-sells-out-within-minutes).
http://hexus.net/media/uploaded/2014/10/698df422-ec5b-43a9-ad09-e1609608bfb6.jpg
The Motorola-made smartphone was unveiled two weeks ago. It is to be one of the first devices to run Android Lollipop, the latest version of Google's mobile operating system, out of the box. It features a 5.9-inch display, quad-core Snapdragon 805 CPU, 3GB of RAM, dual front speakers, a 13MP camera, a large 3,220mAh battery, battery Turbo Charging capabilities, among its impressive specs. Priced at $649 for the 32GB model and $699 for the 64GB model, it is pricy compared to previous Nexus smartphones which were positioned as powerful devices with mid-range price tags.
Vanished from the shopping cart before the order was confirmed
The handset was made available for pre-order starting yesterday, but it is unclear that whether it is due to poor forecasting or extremely high demand that the device sold out so quickly. Besides a few lucky people who somehow managed to register their orders, many complained that the device vanished from their cart before they could confirm the order. Those based in the US who were quick enough to purchase the device from the Play Store will be given a free Google Play Music subscription for 6 months. If you can also grab one of these smartphones before the year's end you will also be able to benefit from this promotion.

Google has yet to announce when it will start taking orders for the Nexus 6 again (see highlight above), but it is worth noting that US based carriers will be offering the device at subsidised prices with service contracts. The device is not yet listed in the UK Play Store but let's hope Google doesn't repeat itself with a lack of inventory when launching the device over here and in other countries.

The Nexus 6 Review (http://www.anandtech.com/show/8687/the-nexus-6-review)
When consumers think of Google's Nexus devices, they think about the promise of receiving the latest updates for Android essentially as soon as they release. They also think about the value proposition that Nexus devices provide by giving good hardware at a price significantly lower than other smartphones. However, this was not always the case. The Nexus One, Nexus S, and Galaxy Nexus were all priced at the same level as other flagship smartphones. It was only with the launch of the Nexus 7 at $199 that we began to see a trend of inexpensive but still high quality devices coming from Google. That hasn't changed at all in the past few weeks. The Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 are both still available, and they still provide a very high quality experience, arguably better than some other smartphones that are both newer and more expensive. But Google's newest devices take aim directly at other flagship devices with both their specs and their prices. At $399 the Nexus 9 positions itself against Apple's iPad Mini 3, while the Nexus 6 at $649 goes up against essentially every other flagship smartphone.
On paper the Nexus 6 doesn't really bring much to the table that sets it high above the competition. This is a consequence of it launching so late into the year, with other companies having already released their new flagship devices. That being said, how a device looks on paper does not translate into how good it is in actual use. There are lots of cases of powerful phones that disappoint, and phones that are weak on paper that end up being surprisingly good. It's still helpful to know what hardware you're dealing with, so I've laid out the specifications of the Nexus 6 below, along with the Nexus 5 as a point of reference.

The design of the Nexus 6 is interesting in how it differs from all other Nexus devices, including the Nexus 9. Although the Nexus 9 launched alongside the 6 and is manufactured by HTC, it retains the slightly slanted flat sides and back cover design from the Nexus 5 which is made by LG. The Nexus 6 is made by Motorola, and it follows the style of design that we've seen on their other devices. The back of the device is heavily curved, with a plastic cover that meets a contoured aluminum frame which slopes downward at the top to accommodate the 3.5mm headphone jack and SIM card tray. Both the plastic back and the aluminum sides feel good in the hand, but due to the sheer size of the device your hand tends to rest more on the back cover instead of arching over it, so it doesn't quite have the premium feel of metal devices like the HTC One (M8) and the iPhone 6. Anyone looking to upgrade from the Nexus 5 should also know that the back cover does not have a soft touch finish like the black Nexus 5, and instead has the slightly rougher eggshell feel of the white Nexus 5.

Nexus 6 Battery Life Put to the Test

As phone specifications become increasingly powerful, so does the need for sufficient battery life. If you’re an active phone user like I am, you’ll eventually have to come to terms with carrying a potable battery pack and charging cable wherever you go – often feeling like you’re married to the thing.
So how does the brand new Nexus 6 compare to the others? Unlike Samsung’s offerings but similar to the iPhone models, you cannot remove the battery of your Nexus – meaning that if your cells start to die or you’re on the run without a charging port, you’re gonna have a bad time.
Equipped with a 3220 mAh battery from factory, the 5.9-inch HD screen is set to be the bane of your batteries existence. Factory results claim that the Nexus will grant you a continuous web-browsing session of 7 hours and 53 minutes in length, rating it 9th in current mobile releases. When comparing this to the Nexus 5’s 2300 mAh battery and 4 hour 50 minute browsing time it seems like they’ve made a rather big improvement.

Motorola accidentally shipped some AT&T Nexus 6 pre-orders with faulty software

Motorola is asking AT&T to return its unsold inventory of Nexus 6 smartphones due to a software issue. Affected phones are said to power on and render a black screen, effectively bricking the device according to multiple reports.
Droid Life (http://www.droid-life.com/2014/11/21/att-stores-being-told-to-ship-nexus-6-inventory-back-due-to-software-bug/) was the first to report the issue, noting that only the initial batch of AT&T Nexus 6 handsets was impacted.
Motorola has since responded (http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/11/21/att-stores-allegedly-being-directed-to-return-all-nexus-6-stock-because-of-pretty-bad-software-glitch/) to the incident, saying they delivered a small number of Nexus 6 smartphones with incorrect software to AT&T pre-order customers (http://www.techspot.com/news/58789-nexus-6-pre-orders-open-november-12-here.html). The memo notes that the software prevents the phone from starting up properly. AT&T promised to provide replacements for consumers whose phones are affected.
The Lenovo-owned company (http://www.techspot.com/news/58642-lenovo-291-billion-acquisition-motorola-mobility-now-complete.html) said the issue has since been corrected and phones that are currently shipping work just fine.

The Nexus 6 is Now Back in Stock, in All Colour and Storage Options

http://cdn.eteknix.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/Capture9.jpg
Motorola has been making as many Nexus 6 smartphones as it can, but it has not been able to keep up with rampant consumer demand. The Nexus 6 has been quite hard to find in most places across the globe, but now it is back in stock in all shapes, colours and sizes in the US right now.
The 32GB and 64GB versions of the Nexus 6 are available in Cloud White and Midnight Blue for $649.99, while the 64GB version sells for $699.99, just $50 more. The stock should sell out quite quickly, as people have been waiting for them for quite a while now, and people are cashed up over the holidays, so prepare to be disappointed.

Watch Out – Several Nexus 6 Users Claim An Alarming Battery Bulge On Device

Apple’s iPhones have been particularly notorious when it comes to manufacturing defects causing strange problems on the device. The most notorious of these was perhaps bendgate last year that caused several iPhone 6 Plus modules to bend out of shape when left inside pockets for reportedly long periods of time. Well, it looks like Apple isn’t the only manufacturer to face such a problem as now several reddit (https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.weand.com%2Fnews%2F2015-01-17%2FA-portion-of-the-Nexus-6-users-to-reflect-their-mobile-phone-pregnant-_605570.shtml&edit-text=) users are reporting a somewhat similar problem on Google’s Nexus 6, manufactured by Motorola.

http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/img201501171128530-635x407.jpg (http://cdn3.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/img201501171128530.jpg)Google’s Nexus 6 Developing Pregnant Batteries Claim Reddit Users As you can see in the image, the Nexus 6 seems to be keen on gaining a little weight, despite its overall slim form factor. The issue has been reported on reddit and the Nexus 6 appears to develop a soft bulge that ends up distorting the overall shape of the device’s rear battery cover. It would be relevant to point out here that such bulges in any device are caused by a malfunctioning or poorly manufactured battery.
So by the looks of things, Motorola seems to have cut some corners when it comes to the battery on the Nexus 6. However, the manufacturer might not be at complete blame here as batteries are known to swell due to overcharging. Other causes for such a malfunction include damage caused to the battery by dropping the device and what more. Whatever the case may be, battery malfunctions on any device are a source of serious concern as they can end up causing serious damage down the road. We’ve covered a list of several devices blowing up, most of which are generally related to faulty batteries and/or charging equipment. So if you’re a Nexus 6 owner, be on the lookout. Report your device to Motorola as soon as possible to avoid any future hazards. Stay safe and let us know what you think in the comments section.

Unglued-Gate? Complaints of Nexus 6 Back Covers Becoming Unglued

http://cdn.eteknix.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/Nexus6.jpg
It has been noted that there have been a rise in Nexus 6 owners complaining about the back covers of their phones becoming unglued. A number of publications have written about the issue, while users have been complaining on Reddit and Twitter.
Users in the United States, Canada and United Kingdom have all complained of the problem, where the rear shell appears to become disconnected from the phone’s casing. While an exact cause has not yet been found, a number of users have suggested that it could be caused by the battery expanding.
The Times of India (http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/tech/tech-news/Motorola-acknowledges-Nexus-6-defect/articleshow/45921240.cms) says that Motorola have acknowledged the issue and users have been reporting that the company has offered them replacement devices. Apple Spoiled Motorola’s Plan To Offer Fingerprint Sensor In Nexus 6

Motorola (http://hothardware.com/tags/motorola) released the Nexus 6 (http://hothardware.com/tags/nexus-6) to much fanfare back in early November. The Nexus 6 was the high-profile launch vehicle for the Android 5.0 (http://hothardware.com/tags/android-50) Lollipop (http://hothardware.com/tags/lollipop) operating system. As we reported in our review (http://hothardware.com/reviews/google-nexus-6-by-motorola?page=1), the Nexus 6 packs in plenty of high-end hardware including a quad-core Snapdragon 805 (http://hothardware.com/tags/snapdragon-805) processor, up to 64GB of internal storage, a 13MP rear camera with optical image stabilization, and a huge 5.9-inch QHD (http://hothardware.com/tags/qhd) AMOLED Display (2560x1440). But according to a new report from The Telegraph, the Nexus 6 was supposed to include support for another promising hardware feature.
Dennis Woodside is currently the CFO for Dropbox (http://hothardware.com/tags/dropbox), but he was CEO of Motorola during the time the Nexus 6 was developed. He reveals that the Nexus 6 was originally designed to incorporate a fingerprint sensor on its back cover. The company had initially planned to use sensor technology from AuthenTec (http://hothardware.com/tags/authentec), however, those plans were foiled when Apple purchased the company in 2012 and went onto introduce Touch ID (http://hothardware.com/tags/touch-id) on the iPhone 5s (http://hothardware.com/tags/iphone-5s) (and later on the iPhone 6 (http://hothardware.com/tags/iphone-6)/6 Plus and iPad Air (http://hothardware.com/tags/ipad-air) 2).

image: http://hothardware.com/ContentImages/NewsItem/32427/content/small_nexus6-27.jpg (http://hothardware.com/gallery/NewsItem/32427?image=big_nexus6-27.jpg)
http://hothardware.com/ContentImages/NewsItem/32427/content/small_nexus6-27.jpg

According to Woodside, the alternative wasn’t exactly promising. “So the second best supplier was the only one available to everyone else in the industry and they weren’t there yet.” Motorola likely made the right choice by not going with a supplier that didn’t have a solution on par with what Apple is able to provide with Touch ID. The lack of a fingerprint sensor might annoy a few people, but including a fingerprint sensor that is problematic and unreliable would be even more detrimental to Motorola’s reputation.
With that said, Woodside still believes that a fingerprint sensor on the Nexus 6 “wouldn’t have made that big a difference.”
Ars Technica revealed back in December (http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2014/12/android-source-reveals-scrapped-nexus-6-fingerprint-sensor/) that the Nexus 6 was supposed to be the launching point for a brand new fingerprint API in Android 5.0 Lollipop. Details gleaned from the Android Open Source Project revealed that the Nexus 6 was supposed to use fingerprint recognition hardware from Validity Sensors, Inc.
The remnants of the Nexus 6’s aborted fingerprint sensor efforts aren’t just visible in code; the little dimple on the back of the device (which holds the Motorola logo) is where the hardware would have been incorporated.

Google proves once again it is terrible at selling smartphones

http://betanews.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/nexus603-e1422620770780.jpg
Getting the latest Nexus smartphone from Google in the first few months of availability can prove to be a real adventure. You know how it goes, as the same thing has happened before with its predecessor. You have to be either extremely lucky to get one early on or extremely committed to the brand to put up with the perennially insufficient stock by waiting your turn at finally getting one. It's insane.
Because of these issues, I have long given up on the thought of buying the latest Nexus smartphone while it's hot -- including the Nexus 6 phablet, as much as I would love to grab one. The fault lies consistently with Google. The search giant is terrible at selling smartphones. Even worse, it comes up with a crappy excuse to justify it.
<ins id="aswift_1_expand" style="display:inline-table;border:none;height:250px;margin:0;padding:0; position:relative;visibility:visible;width:300px;b ackground-color:transparent"><ins id="aswift_1_anchor" style="display:block;border:none;height:250px;margin:0;pa dding:0;position:relative;visibility:visible;width :300px;background-color:transparent"></ins></ins>

I was amused to read this explanation (http://www.androidauthority.com/google-nexus-6-stock-issues-583557/), from Google CFO Patrick Pichette, on why lots of folks, including (https://plus.google.com/114738075629051960079/posts/G6mZrZecz7x) my colleague Joe Wilcox, are still having trouble buying a Nexus 6, which is now three months old. Yeah, three months old!
During Google's earnings conference call, Pichette said: "While the Nexus 7 [he actually meant Nexus 6, clarifying this later] was very well received as a new phone, we had real issues and were unable to secure sufficient inventory to meet the demand that we had forecasted".
Pichette cannot seriously expect any sane prospective buyer to be fine with that excuse when basically the same thing happened with Nexus 4 and Nexus 5. Clearly, Google has some issues in this department, which may be solved by putting more competent people in charge of Nexus devices.
We don't need to hear a similar excuse a year from now. Three botched launches in a row are enough, wouldn't you agree?
Some may say that Google could be trying to build up demand for Nexus 6 by limiting availability. But this would only make sense when the device is new and not exactly interesting. Nexus 6 is neither, so the limited availability is harming sales, and, quite possibly, consumers' interest in the device. And I think Google isn't delusional in thinking otherwise.
It's all fun and games for a while after the positive reviews come out, but it gets old fast as the money is still in consumers' pockets. Just don't act surprised when you read about low Nexus 6 sales numbers.

LG and Huawei rumoured to be making Nexus devices this year (http://www.kitguru.net/laptops/mobile/matthew-wilson/lg-and-huawei-rumoured-to-be-making-nexus-devices-this-year/)

It looks like Google could be planning to release two Nexus devices this year, coming from LG and Chinese phone maker, Huawei, according to new sources. Manufacturing will be outsourced to the two companies, one will be in charge of the smartphone while the other will likely take on the tablet.
LG has already worked with Google in the past, having made the very popular Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 devices. Huawei on the other hand has yet to work with Google, despite being one of the largest smartphone makers around.
http://www.kitguru.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/jpg.jpeg (http://www.kitguru.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/jpg.jpeg)
To make things more interesting, the report suggests that Google may not be going with Qualcomm next time around either. Instead opting to go with Huawei and LG’s own respective chip designs.
Samsung also recently dropped its dependence on Qualcomm, opting to use an Exynos processor in its latest flagship, the Galaxy S6.

Google's upcoming wireless service may only be compatible with the Nexus 6

http://www.techspot.com/images2/news/bigimage/2015-03-05-image-14.jpgGoogle confirmed (http://www.techspot.com/news/59914-google-wireless-mobile-network-mvno.html) plans to launch its own wireless service (http://www.techspot.com/news/59479-google-aims-launch-own-wireless-service-using-sprint.html) earlier this week during Mobile World Congress. Senior Vice President and Android boss Sundar Pichai said the service would be a relatively small scale undertaking and according to a new report from The Wall Street Journal (http://www.wsj.com/articles/google-wireless-plan-has-one-catch-1425598890), truer words were never spoken.
The publication claims the service could launch as early as the end of March but only on select handsets. And by select handsets, I mean just the Nexus 6.
Google’s wireless service, which will piggyback on networks from Sprint and T-Mobile, will also work over Wi-Fi. It’ll determine (http://www.techspot.com/news/59529-google-wireless-service-would-look-best-sprint-t.html) which of the three networks have the best service at any given time and location based on the current task the user is trying to perform to offer the best service.
To pull off this real-time analysis requires close coordination between hardware and software – something Google enjoys from its Nexus program.
Pichai said earlier this week that Google’s intentions weren’t to launch a full-on wireless network. Instead, the company wants to drive a set of innovations that they believe will influence the wireless industry in a positive way. It’s the same thinking behind the Nexus program which Google has successfully used to showcase technology and what it believes are better ways of doing things.
Whether or not Google plans to bring the service to existing devices outside of the Nexus 6 is unknown (it may not even be possible). Moving forward, however, I suspect that all new Nexus devices will be compatible with Google’s network.
Above all, pricing and service plans will likely be key to the program’s success.

Nexus 5 And Nexus 6 Receives Latest Lollipop Release Android 5.1 Factory Image

There have been news for the Nexus 5 and Nexus 6 users concerning the latest release of their host operating systems. There have been news as such about the update builds last week and yet again, they pop up. Both of the these devices, Nexus 5 and Nexus 6 receives the latest version of Android Lollipop 5.1. This is good news as factory images have arrived and users can manually download them.
http://cdn2.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/nexus-5-android-5-0-lollipop.jpg (http://cdn2.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/nexus-5-android-5-0-lollipop.jpg)
The factory images that just arrived for the Nexus 5 and Nexus 6 devices clocks to the build number of LM471 which replaces the LMY47E version which further was a replacement for LMY47D version. There have been quite a streak of inheritance in the versions. Users who own a a Nexus device can use the Factory Images to restore or reset the stock Android version OS to them. If anyone has modified or customized their Nexus devices, this step might be necessary and will probably miss the OTA update being sent.

Restore Your Nexus Device To Stock Android With Factory Image – Download Here

If one may be completely clueless about the update, lets have a look and get a bit of know how for what is this update about. What we have here is an Android version5.1.0_r3 which also happens to contain some bug fixes to enhance performance. Some users might also expect this update to fix bigger issues which have been prevailing for a time now, issue like huge memory leaks and more. However, this update does not tackle anything like it, but handles issues related to sim card problems and handling. There may as well be other tweaks and changes but nothing much fascinating.

Fix Nexus 6 Battery, Heating and Performance Issues – Android Tips

Nexus users have often reported how their smartphone gets hot at times with performance lags happening too. Not only heat and performance lags but many users have also reported decreased battery life. If you are a disappointed Nexus 6 (http://wccftech.com/flash-cm12-1-android-5-1-1-on-nexus-6-7-and-nexus-10/) user, worry not as we have a simple solution to all your woes.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/54af6dd1b66b5-635x635.png (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/54af6dd1b66b5.png)
Fix Nexus 6 battery issues: If you own q Nexus 6 and are over the initial infatuation with that beautiful Quad HD screen, you are probably now looking for ways to fix Nexus 6 battery and heat (http://wccftech.com/fix-galaxy-s6-battery-issues/) problems. The screen with its massive 2560 x 1440 resolution takes a definite lot of battery juice and processor power to run. This not only creates lags but readers have also reported severe heating issues. An easier fix to these issues is to lower the resolution on your Nexus device. Here is how.

s

Steps to fix Nexus 6 battery and heat issue: Here are the few simple steps (http://wccftech.com/android-5-1-1-for-nexus-5/) that you can follow to fix Nexus 6 battery woes:

Download and install ADB and USB drivers (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979).
On your Nexus, go to Settings > Developer options > enable USB debugging. Note: If you don’t see Developer options, go to About phone > tap on build number few times.
Now connect your Nexus to PC using a USB cable.
On your computer start command prompt: Type CMD in Search and press Enter.
Now type these commands:

adb shell wm size 720×1280 – press Enter
adb shell wm density 280 && adb reboot – press Enter

These simple commands will lower your Nexus 6’s screen resolution. Of course, it won’t appear as sharp as before but would solve the annoying battery and heat issues. If you don’t appreciate lower resolution, you can easily go back to the original with these commands:

adb shell wm size 1440×2560
adb shell wm density 560 && adb reboot

These tips are sourced from Reddit (https://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/3am7ti/how_i_made_my_nexus_6_run_cooler_smoother_and/), where readers have commented that the tip fixes the issues. The fix has been tested on Nexus 6 running Android M (http://wccftech.com/android-m-vs-android-lollipop-comparison/) Developer Preview, according to the redditor. Let us know if you feel the smooth performance coming back to your Nexus 6 after this. Battery life would definitely be improved too after this quick fix.

The Nexus 6 Gets a Huge Price Cut in the UK

http://cdn.eteknix.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/nexus-6-800x596.jpg
Want to upgrade your smartphone and missed the recent price cuts? Well, it may be for the best. Motorola did slash its prices a while ago, making its Moto X up for grabs at £229 for the 16GB version and £269 for the 32GB version. Nexus 6 also saw a slight £80 cut, bringing it down to £399 for the 32GB version and £469 for the 64GB version. But I know it was still too steep, so I don’t think it drew a lot of attention.
The recent price cuts comes from the Google Store (https://store.google.com/product/nexus_6), where the Nexus 6 has now hit an all-time low price. You can grab it for £304 for the 32GB model and £379 for the 64 GB model. Now that’s a huge price drop from the previous £479 and £549 price tags it previously had.
The only problem here is that we don’t know if the price cut is temporary or permanent. The safe bet is that if you have the money now, it’s time to clear out your account and buy it before it jumps back to its original price. In my opinion, the flashgrip is really worth it for what it has to offer and with a price tag such as the one above, you will definitely be making a smart investment.
Thank you Endgadget (http://www.engadget.com/2015/07/02/nexus-6-uk-price-cut/) for providing us with this information

Take A Look At The Motorola Nexus 6 With A Fingerprint Sensor

With Google partnering up with Motorola for last year’s Nexus 6 launch, we saw a device that was quite different from previous Nexus smartphone launches. Firstly, the device came with a heftier price tag, which led several loyal Nexus fans to question whether Google itself had given in and was trying to become a part of the flagship race. Well, that’s all in the past, and speaking of the past today we’ve managed to get our hands on several Nexus 6 prototype images (http://www.weibo.com/2554757470/Cukn0xFsW?from=page_1005052554757470_profile&wvr=6&mod=weibotime&type=comment#_rnd1438763528445) that show the device with a fingerprint sensor.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/nexus-6_1.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/nexus-6_1.jpg)
Here’s A Nexus 6 Prototype With A Fingerprint Sensor For Your PleasurePrior to its launch, we saw several quarters speak up about a fingerprint sensor on the Nexus 6. But owing to supplier issues, the plan was scrapped and we saw a device without a fingerprint sensor on board, which makes the Nexus 6 somewhat handicapped when competing with current Android flagships. After all, specifications play a very important role in the Android world, and nearly every top tier Android smartphone has a fingerprint sensor as well.

http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/nexus-6_2.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/nexus-6_2.jpg)
But looking at the pace things are changing, Google itself is evolving with Android M now expected to introduce several critical new features into the mix. Google’s latest Android will be coming with native fingerprint sensor support on board, something which should further boost more and more smartphone manufacturers to introduce the much popular feature in their devices. And since this year’s Nexus also appears to be coming with a fingerprint sensor, we’d say that the item was on the software giant’s mind for quite a while.

http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/nexus-6_4.jpg

Nexus devices have always been popular with die hard Android fans owing to the pure version of Android they carry, which provides the best experience to some. And while the Nexus 6 might become a thing of the past soon, its interesting to take a look at what may have been nevertheless. Thoughts? Let us know what you think in the comments section below and stay tuned for more.

Unlocked Nexus 6 Is As Cheap As Nexus 5 Was On Launch; New Nexus Incoming?

Previously, we reported that the upcoming Nexus from LG would be named Nexus 5X (http://wccftech.com/upcoming-lg-nexus-feature-cheaper-nexus-6/), and was expected to sport a dual-camera setup (http://wccftech.com/lg-nexus-leak-shows-dual-cameras/), coupled with a Snapdragon 808. However, looks like the upcoming device could be announced very soon because Nexus 6, the 5.9 inch Snapdragon 805 powerhouse has its price tag reduced from absolutely ridiculous, to absolutely affordable if you take the price/performance ratio in to account.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Nexus-6-635x303.png (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Nexus-6.png)
Nexus 6 32GB Will Only Set You Back For $349, The 64GB Model Will Be The Better Purchase For Consumers

We came across Amazon and saw that the 32GB storage model of Nexus 6 costs just $349.99. In short, you will end up saving $300, and what is even more exciting about this is that it comes unlocked. One of the primary reasons why Nexus 6 became extremely unpopular amongst the masses was because Google switched from rolling out a very affordable and capable Nexus 5, to an exorbitantly priced Nexus 6.
After the priced slash, the phablet sized powerhouse is now as affordable as the base storage model of what Nexus 5 was at launch, but we have a feeling that it is a bit too late to make these adjustments now. However, consumers who feel that 32GB is far too low of a storage count to be present on a smartphone that features a Snapdragon 805 can always opt to purchase the 64GB model, which only costs $399.99; $50 higher than the base model, and every bit as powerful.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Nexus-6-again-635x343.png (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Nexus-6-again.png)

Supplementing the Snapdragon 805 SoC, is 3GB of RAM, along with a very crisp resolution, gargantuan form factor and best of all; you will receive timely updates for Google’s next update, which at this point, is going to be Android Marshmallow. Since Nexus 6 is sporting Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipset, the smartphone will be compatible with the company’s Quick Charge 2.0 feature, which is able to charge mobile devices’ batteries from 0-60 percent in just 15 minutes.
There is also a 13MP Sony IMX214 rear camera sensor present, which is extremely capable seeing as how Nexus 6 is a previous generation smartphone. After the price slash, do you think Nexus 6 is going to be worthy purchase, or has Google executed this strategy a bit too late? Let us know your thoughts as we wait for the imminent arrival of Nexus 5X.

Amazon.com currently sell Google's previous flagship Motorola-made Nexus 6 smartphone for a rather incredible US $200 for the 32GB and US $260 for the 64GB version.

While it was selling for US $370 just a few months ago, Amazon.com has launched a rather impressive Black Friday deal, offering the unlocked Google Nexus 6 for US $200 for the 32GB version and US $260 for the 64GB version. Spotted by Androidpolice.com (http://www.androidpolice.com/2015/11/26/lightning-deal-alert-32gb-nexus-6-199-99-64gb-259-99-amazon-lighting-deal-live-now-gogogo/), the offer will probably last until the stock is depleted.
While it might not be as hot as the Huawei-made Nexus 6P, the Motorola-made Nexus 6 is still a decent device with its 6-inch QHD AMOLED screen, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 805 SoC and a metal frame around a curved body. On the other hand, Nexus 6 has a few more things to offer compared to the Nexus 6P as its 13-megapixel camera has OIS and it is also water resistant.
The deal is limited to Amazon.com and there is no similar deal on any of the European Amazon sites, at least not so far but if you are in the States, you might want to check it out (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00R1984I8?ref_=gb1h_tit_m-3_5482_c01f4d63&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER).

Google has quietly stopped selling the Nexus 6 (http://www.kitguru.net/laptops/mobile/matthew-wilson/google-has-quietly-stopped-selling-the-nexus-6/)

Google has chosen to quietly discontinue the Motorola Nexus 6, which launched at the end of 2014 but failed to really live up to expectations both in terms of sales and acclaim. From this point forward, Google’s first oversized Nexus won’t be available to buy directly through the Play Store (https://store.google.com/category/phones), leaving you with this year’s Nexus 5x and Nexus 6p.
If you want last year’s Nexus, you may still be able to find it at certain retailers, though once stock runs out, that will be it as Google isn’t going to continue manufacturing the handset.
http://www.kitguru.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/google-nexus-6-32gb-black-267457-e1449672264816.jpg (http://www.kitguru.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/google-nexus-6-32gb-black-267457-e1449672264816.jpg)
The Nexus 6 was an interesting device for Google, prior to its release the Nexus line was seen as the best bang for buck Android brand, with stock Android straight from Google being a highlight feature. However, the Nexus 6 was the first step away from that, with a 5.7-inch handset, which launched at a much higher price point compared to the previous Nexus smartphones.
Since then, Google has backtracked slightly, bringing back LG and the Nexus 5 for 2015, though it has also kept the Nexus 6 around to serve the phablet market as well.

Nexus 6 Is Going For The Same Price As OnePlus X – Check Out The Deal Right Here

Nexus 6 might be a whole generation old, but if it’s highly expensive price tag was the same as it is today, it would have been branded as a commercial failure. While it did end up as a failure, its current discounted price is definitely something that you should look into.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/Nexus-635x422.jpg
Nexus 6 Costs Just $249.99 For The 32GB Model – Check Out The Deal Right Here On Amazon, there are always numerous deals that go unchecked, but we managed to see a Nexus 6 32GB model go for the price of $249.99, which is the same price that a OnePlus X is being sold for. In addition, the behemoth sized handset also features a 64GB on-board storage model, and it is being sold for $299.99; just $50 more compared to the 32GB model. According to the details present on the website, there is absolutely no contract involved, and the color scheme is going to be midnight blue.
As for the specifications, they are quite impressive, particularly now that the price of the handset has been reduced by more than 50 percent from its original $649.99, which we should remind you, was for the 32GB model. Nexus 6 comes with a Snapdragon 805 SoC, which is running a quad-core Krait 450 processor at a speed of 2.7GHz. In addition, Nexus 6 also features 3GB of RAM, and a QHD display being rendered on its massive 5.96 inch screen size. Thanks to featuring a pure Android skin, you can expect the best overall experience from a Nexus smartphone, and this one is definitely not going to be any exception.

There is a 3,220mAh battery present underneath the hood, and we expect that with continuous software updates, battery life will improve. There is also a 13MP rear camera sensor, which has the capability to record 4K videos at a steady 30FPS. Furthermore, there is also an option to record slow-mo videos, if you are into that kind of thing. For a $249.99 smartphone, we can say that Nexus 6 is definitely a great deal if you want high-end specs that also go easy on your wallet. Since Nexus mobile devices are void of expandable storage slots, we highly recommend that you place your investment in the 64GB model, since most consumers cannot get around to using 32GB of storage.
We have placed the links below, so tell us what you thought about this great deal on Amazon.

Motorola admits that the Nexus 6 was too big (http://www.kitguru.net/laptops/mobile/matthew-wilson/motorola-admits-that-the-nexus-6-was-too-big/)

Back in 2014, Google made a huge change to its Nexus smartphone release lineup with the Motorola-built Nexus 6. The device had a massive 6-inch screen and aimed to capture the high-end market, which was a step away from the cheaper, sensibly sized Nexus devices released in previous years. Now after some time has passed, Motorola has admitted that mistakes were made with the phone.
Speaking with TechRadar (http://www.techradar.com/news/phone-and-communications/mobile-phones/motorola-admits-nexus-6-was-too-big-but-that-s-what-google-wanted-1315647?utm_content=bufferbddb7&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer), Adrienne Hayes, Chief Marketing Officer at Motorola said: “You learn as you go. It was right about this time period that we were jumping screen sizes so quickly. I think it was one of those where we were like ‘is it screen size going to continue to go up?’ I think, unfortunately, that was one of the products that was going to be the example of no, it’s not. So now we know.”
http://www.kitguru.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/nexus-6-colors-970-80-e1456346009780.jpg (http://www.kitguru.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/nexus-6-colors-970-80-e1456346009780.jpg)
However, while Motorola did build the Nexus 6 back in 2014, some of the blame lies with Google as they wanted the larger screen size. Motorola could have built the device to be the same size of the Moto X, which had a 4.7-inch display and had a very similar design all around compared to the Nexus 6 2014.
That said, while the Nexus 6 didn’t sell too well, Motorola would be open to collaborating on the Nexus project again at some point in the future: “I don’t know whether we’ll do another Nexus device, but we would be happy to. It was a good experience.”

Google Harnesses Your Inner Artist With NFC-Equipped Live Cases For Nexus 5X, 6 And 6P

image: http://hothardware.com/ContentImages/NewsItem/37107/content/nexus_live_case_banner.jpg
http://hothardware.com/ContentImages/NewsItem/37107/content/nexus_live_case_banner.jpg

If you’re looking for a way to spruce up your Nexus smartphone’s exterior, Google has a new offering that might be right up your alley. The search giant has introduced what it calls Live Cases, which are essentially plastic cases that snap onto the back of your smartphone. But these are more than just your everyday, static cases — you can visit the Google Store and try out the My Live Case workshop (https://store.google.com/category/nexus_live_case), which will allow you to upload your favorite photos to add to the case. You can then apply filters (there are a dozen to choose from) to add an even more personal touch.

image: http://hothardware.com/ContentImages/NewsItem/37107/content/nexus_live_case.gif
http://hothardware.com/ContentImages/NewsItem/37107/content/nexus_live_case.gif

However, the magic starts with the live wallpapers that are specifically tied to the Live Case that you design. As soon as you snap on the case, a slideshow of your chosen photos (grabbed from Google Photos, of course) is displayed on your home screen background. Google has also added an auxiliary shortcut button on the back of the case that you can customize to launch your favorite apps (or quickly change a device setting). The shortcut button along with the automatic display of your chosen wallpaper photos are initiated using NFC (http://hothardware.com/tags/nfc).

<iframe width="620" height="349" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/ZrinxYzhq-E" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Google is even allowing you to upload maps to your Live Case, which makes for some interesting interactions:

Fashion your phone with a stylized map of your favorite location from around the world – whether it’s your dream vacation destination or hometown. Your live wallpaper will show a map of your whereabouts as you go about your day. With a tap of the shortcut button, the app will show you what’s nearby on Google Maps.
Google first tried out the Live Case idea with the Skrillex-based accessory for the Nexus 6 (http://hothardware.com/news/skrillex-teams-with-google-for-editions-live-cases-for-android-phones). But given that not everyone is a Skrillex fan, this is a much more diverse and palatable solution for Nexus device owners. Speaking of which, Live Cases are compatible with the Nexus 5X (http://hothardware.com/tags/nexus-5x), Nexus 6 (http://hothardware.com/tags/nexus-6) and Nexus 6P (http://hothardware.com/tags/nexus-6p). They also won’t come cheap; Google is selling them for $35 each including free shipping.
