Ubisoft working on Assassin's Creed: Victory, arrives in 2015

It doesn't look like Ubisoft has learned anything from the recent release of Assassin's Creed: Unity and all of its issues, as rumors are now arriving about the next game in the series, Assassin's Creed: Victory.

http://imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/4/1/41637_666_ubisoft_working_on_assassin_s_creed_vict ory_arrives_in_2015.jpg (http://www.tweaktown.com/image.php?image=imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/4/1/41637_666_ubisoft_working_on_assassin_s_creed_vict ory_arrives_in_2015_full.jpg)

The story came from Kotaku reporting that the new game would be set in 19th century London during the Victorian era, according to "a person familiar with the game" reported Kotaku, a game that would arrive in fall 2015 for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Ubisoft Quebec is the studio working on the game, unlike Ubisoft Montreal which worked on the currently still a work-in-progress Assassin's Creed: Unity.

There was also seven minutes of "target gameplay footage" which was shown, which was being rendered in real-time by the Assassin's Creed engine, and not pre-rendered. Personally, I think Ubisoft needs to be very, very cautious with this release. I think we should see a demo of the game released, so that the faith can be restored into the series, as I think over half the audience of the series would be very unsure of trusting Ubisoft again with another Assassin's Creed game following the recent train wreck that was the AC:U launch.

Mais um AC... medo muito medo, depois de todos os graves problemas do AC Unity.
Espero que a Ubi tenha aprendido alguma coisa com esses erros.

Ubisoft Confirms Leaked Assassin’s Creed Victory – Screenshots Show Victorian London in Next-Gen Visuals

Update: Following the leak, Ubisoft has issued a statement confirming the existence of the new Assassin’s Creed title, codenamed “Assassin’s Creed Victory.” You can check out the official statement below.
Original Story: It has hardly been 2 weeks since the disastrous launch of Assassin’s Creed: Unity, which featured several major bugs. So many of them that the Ubisoft team had to issue a public apology and announce free DLC for the game owners and a free game for the Season Pass owners. Amid all this mess, the Assassin’s Creed franchise just received a major leak about the next year’s addition to the historical-fiction series. According to the reports on Kotaku, (http://kotaku.com/next-years-big-assassins-creed-is-set-in-victorian-lond-1665343788) which are also backed up by several statements, the new entrant to the Assassin’s Creed franchise is set in Victorian London and is codenamed “Assassin’s Creed: Victory” by Ubisoft.

Next Big Assassin’s Creed Title, Codenamed “Assassin’s Creed Victory,” Leaked – Set to Launch in Fall Next Year for the Latest Platforms

If reports circling around the internet are to be believed, the much awaited and highly anticipated historical Victorian era has finally been modeled by the Assassin’s Creed team and it will take you back to the dirty, yet developing, back alleys of London. Much like the rest of the Assassin’s Creed games, Assassin’s Creed: Victory is an open world action series available to all the major gaming platforms i.e. PlayStation 4, Xbox One and the Windows PC.
The upcoming title will apparently be a singular launch for the Ubisoft team unlike the previous collective launch for the Assassin’s Creed: Unity and Rogue where Assassin’s Creed: Rogue was overshadowed by the Unity’s anticipation and then its failure to run with so many bugs. Many of the Assassin’s Creed followers thought that 2015 would be a skip year for Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed franchise after their fail launch of Assassin’s Creed: Unity but the team has proved itself again, to be as ambitious as ever and will come up with the new addition in fall of 2015.

Com o foco colocado neste novo AC, o mais certo é nunca vermos o Unity corrigido.
Quem comprou o Unity deve ficar bem mal com isto.

Assassin’s Creed Victory: Ubisoft’s Redemption?

The Assassin’s Creed franchise has long been one of the biggest and most successful series in the world of video games. Combining historical time periods and characters with fictional protagonists has provided varied locales and interesting premises to create some of the most interesting settings in games. The adventures of Ezio Auditore da Firenze that have spanned no less than three major releases have especially been well received by gamers and critics alike and are some of my personal favorite gaming experiences.
http://cdn3.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/1015726147524388674-635x356.png (http://cdn2.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/1015726147524388674.png)
Assassin’s Creed Victory could be the series big comeback Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag has also been a fan favorite of the series and was very well-loved by most. The follow ups that came in the form of Assassin’s Creed Unity and Assassin’s Creed Rogue for new gen and last gen respectively were not so highly regarded. Truth be told Unity was plagued by technical issues that affected both the console and PC versions. This resulted in many gamers losing faith in Ubisoft and the Assassin’s Creed franchise as a whole.
I admit that I am a big fan of the series and I wouldn’t let one relatively bad iteration of spoiling my adoration for the franchise. Personally I do believe that even Unity had its moments and at times it even achieved greatness. Regardless I do hope that the company’s new offering, Assassin’s Creed Victory manages to alleviate all the shortcomings of its predecessors and bring the series under a more favorable light.

Victory is set in Victorian London, a quite interesting setting and time period that will surely provide incredible opportunities for interesting missions. The Victorian city of London was a city of startling contrasts. New building and affluent development went hand in hand with horribly overcrowded slums where people lived in the worst conditions imaginable. The population surged during the 19th century, from about 1 million in 1800 to over 6 million a century later. This growth far exceeded London’s ability to look after the basic needs of its citizens. A combination of coal-fired stoves and poor sanitation made the air heavy and foul-smelling. Immense amounts of raw sewage was dumped straight into the Thames River. Even royals were not immune from the stench of London – when Queen Victoria occupied Buckingham Palace her apartments were ventilated through the common sewers, a fact that was not disclosed until some 40 years later.
I have no doubt that Victory will provide one of the most interesting backgrounds yet in an Assassin’s game and given the fact that Microsoft mentioned that the first DirectX 12 games will start rolling in this holiday season, the team could very well be working on the new API. That alone could be enough to solve most of the technical issues and limitations that influenced Unity. With a very probable reveal at this year’s E3 and a release during the holiday season Assassin’s Creed Victory could turn out to be one of, if not the first DirectX 12 game. The publisher seems to have been listening to the fans’ criticisms and it is said that a more intuitive combat system is in play.
Lets hope that this turns out to be true and that Victory is indeed the redemption for both the company and the franchise as it is truly a shame that a series with such beautiful and imaginative pedigree turns out to lose its success.

Assassin’s Creed: Golden Age Leaks Online in a Ubisoft Document

Ubisoft Graduate Program (http://blog.ubi.com/ubisoft-graduate-program-2015/), is a program designed by the famous French company for research and the training of professionals. Looking closely at a document released through the pages of the official program located at Ubisoft Career, a picture can be noticed on the third page, depicting a working project and displaying the logo “Assassin’s Creed: Golden Age”. It is unknown what this could be. We can assume, it’s 2016’s Assassin’s Creed title or another spin-off similar to Rogue, or even a name change given to Assassin’s Creed: Victory (http://wccftech.com/article/assassins-creed-victory-ubisofts-redemption/), which is set in Victorian London, and is already a hot topic in rumors.
http://cdn2.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/assassinscreedgoldenage-635x341.jpg (http://cdn4.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/assassinscreedgoldenage.jpg)
Ubisoft Document hints that Next Assassin’s Creed might be called Assassin’s Creed: Golden Age Assuming the first hypothesis and glancing at the picture in the document, we might have a chapter set and centered, during the golden age of piracy. It is quite doubtful that Victory is being renamed as “Golden Age” as that would make no sense, with it being set in Victorian London. The chance of Victory being replaced by Golden Age for this year’s release is also not too likely as it has already been confirmed by Ubisoft.

It seems that the document was created on October 6, 2014, but it just came to light. We can only make assumptions at this point. The city in the background though does not seem to reflect the Golden Age of piracy at all. It seems more likely that it could represent the Golden Age of Islam. Personally I would bet on the latter, which could potentially be a great setting for the franchise. If there is a chance that this title comes out during 2015, alongside Victory, then a reveal at E3 later this year is imminent, as is some footage of Victory. Although having a setting with that much potential could better be suited for a full blown release next year.
We will keep you notified of any new information that we come across with.

Future Assassin's Creed games will have "more robust modern day" than Unity (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2015-02-27-future-assassins-creed-games-will-have-more-robust-modern-day-than-unity?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=socialoomph)

Future Assassin's Creed games will include a greater focus on the series' modern day timeline than last year's Assassin's Creed Unity, Ubisoft has suggested.Fans were left disappointed by Unity's brief sashays into the present day, presented via a couple of quick cut-scenes.
Previous entries have included playable sections, puzzles and even whole areas to explore - which, happily, it sounds like Ubisoft hopes to return to in future instalments.
Speaking via Twitch during a Ubisoft community livestream (http://www.twitch.tv/assassinscreed/v/3834202), Assassin's Creed lead writer Darby McDevitt explained that his favourite modern day section - Brotherhood's town of Monteriggioni - may inspire present day sections found in future instalments.
"That only came about because [we] were able to reuse Monteriggioni from AC2," he recalled. "So the future - and this is the plan - is to smartly reuse things so we can have a more robust modern day."
McDevitt, who worked as lead writer for Assassin's Creed: Revelations, AC4: Black Flag and short film Embers, as well as PSP and DS spin-offs Bloodlines and AC2: Discovery, revealed that Unity had originally featured more modern day moments.
"We always plan to have more modern day but we have to be really smart about how we do it. There was a plan for a little more modern day in Unity - a plan," he stressed, "nothing that was actually cut.
"The thing with Unity was that it was a completely fresh game on a completely fresh generation. So creating any kind of modern day is a pretty huge ask. To create a city, for instance, or even part of a city, would require six months of work by many, many artists, designers, modellers. And then you'd need gameplay systems that didn't feel like you were just fencing."

McDevitt also revealed that he had been working with other Ubisoft writers on the franchise's future - including the history of the series' mysterious forerunner race, the First Civilisation.
"I particularly love the lore. I've been working the past two years, with all the other writers, on getting a great document together on the First Civilisation.
"We've created 500, 600, 700 years worth of history that we hope to start teasing out for the next 10, 20 years or however long we're around," he continued.
"As I see it there were always two ways to go about this. You could always make [the First Civ] very mysterious - to never really go into what they were. But at a certain point in the games you got to the point where you knew they were real. So why not go the other direction and treat them as real history.<aside>

</aside>"So me and the other writers have been, as a side-project to really make sure all future projects have this cool timeline to go from, creating this huge First Civ history. With all the big moments and a ton of small moments you've never thought of. So every future writer can say 'I want to reference Juno again, or Minerva' and see where she was at a specific date... and how far along was the First Civ-human war going."
While not yet officially confirmed by Ubisoft, a leak has revealed that the next Assassin's Creed game, code-named Victory, will be set in an Industrial Revolution-era London (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-12-02-the-next-assassins-creed-is-set-in-victorian-london).

WTF....mais 20 anos de Assassin's Creed? Isto sim, é espremer uma saga até ao tutano.

Assassin’s Creed – The Future of The Franchise

Ubisoft, during a livestream (http://www.twitch.tv/assassinscreed/v/3834202), suggested that future Assassin’s Creed games will feature a much larger focus on the modern-day timeline, than Assassin’s Creed Unity did. Fans were left quite disappointed by the brief moments present in the aforementioned title. Previous installments, featured playable sections as well as whole areas to explore and puzzles to solve. Ubisoft decided to make a return to that formula.
http://cdn4.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/Assassins-Creed-2-635x357.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/Assassins-Creed-2.jpg)
Assassin’s Creed lead writer Darby McDevitt, suggested that modern-day sections such as Brotherhood’s town of Monteriggioni could potentially inspire present day sections in future Assassin’s Creed installments.

<section class="">
“That only came about because [we] were able to reuse Monteriggioni from AC2,” he recalled. “So the future – and this is the plan – is to smartly reuse things so we can have a more robust modern-day.”
McDevitt, who has also served as lead writer for Assassin’s Creed: Revelations and AC4: Black Flag explained that Unity initially featured more modern-day sections.

“We always plan to have more modern-day but we have to be really smart about how we do it. There was a plan for a little more modern-day in Unity – a plan,” he stressed, “nothing that was actually cut.
“The thing with Unity was that it was a completely fresh game on a completely fresh generation. So creating any kind of modern-day is a pretty huge task. And then you’d need gameplay systems that didn’t feel like you were just fencing.”
Assassin’s Creed Unity, did in fact contain some very nice sections taking place in some very important historical moments, like the occupied France, which to me was one of the most exciting segments found in Unity. It made me hunger for a WWII setting, Assassin’s Creed that much more.
There’s some very extensive history written about Assassin’s Creed First Civilisation McDevitt, revealed that he had also been collaborating with other writers on the future of the franchise, including the history of the First Civilisation.
</section>

“I particularly love the lore. I’ve been working the past two years, with all the other writers, on getting a great document together on the First Civilisation.
“We’ve created 500, 600, 700 years worth of history that we hope to start teasing out for the next 10, 20 years or however long we’re around,” he continued.
“As I see it there were always two ways to go about this. You could always make [the First Civ] very mysterious – to never really go into what they were. But at a certain point in the games you got to the point where you knew they were real. So why not go the other direction and treat them as real history.
“So me and the other writers have been, as a side-project to really make sure all future projects have this cool timeline to go from, creating this huge First Civ history. With all the big moments and a ton of small moments you’ve never thought of. So every future writer can say ‘I want to reference Juno again, or Minerva’ and see where she was at a specific date… and how far along was the First Civ-human war going.”
There seems to be quite a vision in place for Assassin’s Creed’s future. Earlier installments of the franchise did manage to create a very interesting back story, with both larger modern-day sections, as well as with references to the First Civilisation, and the ties they had with the protagonist’s bloodline. It’s true that many fans have lost interest in the franchise, either because they grew tired of the same type of gameplay and recycled mission structure, or because of the unoptimized nature of more recent iterations.
The Assassin’s Creed franchise did introduce some very interesting concepts It would be a shame though, as the Assassin’s Creed franchise, did introduce some very exciting and interesting concepts, both with its gameplay mechanics, as well as with its story arc. Ubisoft appears to have an extremely large plan for the future of Assassin’s Creed, and understandably so, as it is their strongest IP. Personally I am eagerly looking forward to future iterations, as well as to the official reveal of Assassin’s Creed Victory, which will probably be coming real soon.
Ubisoft will be present at GDC (http://wccftech.com/gdc-2015-expect/) early next month, where they will be hosting multiple sessions, so a reveal of the new title of the franchise is very likely to happen, given that it has already been leaked of being in development. We will keep you informed of any news regarding the Assassin’s Creed franchise, Assassin’s Creed Victory, as well as coverage of the GDC event.

Assassin’s Creed Victory May Feature “Innovative Asynchronous Gameplay”

Ubisoft is working on implementing “innovative asynchronous gameplay” into Assassin’s Creed Victory according to the Linkedin profile (https://www.linkedin.com/profile/view?id=5638284&authType=NAME_SEARCH&authToken=Dkkz&locale=en_US&srchid=169027821429698190072&srchindex=1&srchtotal=2&trk=vsrp_people_res_name&trkInfo=VSRPsearchId%3A169027821429698190072%2CVSR PtargetId%3A5638284%2CVSRPcmpt%3Aprimary%2CVSRPnm% 3Atrue) of the game’s associate producer, Daniel Palix.
Palix CV states that he led development on a pair of new features in the new game, including “an innovative asynchronous gameplay” and “some innovative Player Space”. He explains however that the asynchronous mode is not confirmed.

Ubisoft stated following Assassin’s Creed Victory was leaked:

“It is always unfortunate when internal assets, not intended for public consumption, are leaked. And, while we welcome anticipation for all our upcoming titles, we’re disappointed for our fans, and our development team, that this conceptual asset is now public,”
“The team in our Quebec studio has been hard at work on the particular game in question for the past few years, and we’re excited to officially unveil what the studio has been working n at a later date. In the meantime, our number one priority is enhancing the experience of ‘Assassin’s Creed Unity’ for players,”
Lead writer Darby McDevitt said:

“we always plan to have more modern day but we have to be really smart about how we do it.”

“To create a city, for instance, or even part of a city, would require six months of work by many, many artists, designers, modellers. And then you’d need gameplay systems that didn’t feel like you were just fencing,”

Ubisoft will formally announce and demonstrate Assassin’s Creed Victory at E3 2015 in June, so we will know if the feature makes it into the game. Assassin’s Creed Victory is set during Victorian London and development is led by Ubisoft Quebec. Assassin’s Creed Victory is expected to release holiday 2015 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. We will bring you any new information on the title as soon as it becomes available.
