Microsoft Surface Pro 4 Specifications Appear – Will Be Cheaper Than Surface Pro 3

Only yesterday we informed you about Apple and its suppliers speeding things up on the 12.9 inch iPad Pro. After the 5.5 inch iPhone 6 Plus, the iPad Pro is going to be the company’s first foray into larger screened tablets if the rumors and leaks so far are correct. It will also be targeting Microsoft’s Surface Pro 3 (http://wccftech.com/12-inch-ipad-pro-razor-thin-target-surface-pro-3/) if Japanese sources that have also provided information about the device’s thickness and specifications are to be believed. Well looks like Microsoft’s looking to make a comeback of its own, with information about the next Surface tablet, the Surface Pro 4 having popped up today.

With its debut of Windows 10 to developers this year, looks like Microsoft isn’t done yet when it comes to its Surface Pro lineup. Previously the company was rumored to be discontinuing the lineup after the second and third generation of the Surface lineup had cost Redmond massive losses of around $2 Billion (http://wccftech.com/microsoft-surface-surface-pro-microsoft-reportedly-terminate-lineup/). Well it looks like Microsoft is looking to give Apple tough competition next year, with the company allegedly having plans (http://www.cnbeta.com/articles/357071.htm%20) for the Microsoft Surface Pro 4.

Microsoft reportedly expected to launch the Surface Pro 4 later this year

http://www.winbeta.org/sites/default/files/news/WinBeta_4_1.jpg
Microsoft has had a successful run with the Surface Pro 3, racking up $1.1 billion in revenue from the sale of Surface tablets in the second fiscal quarter of 2015. Microsoft Surface Pro 3 is a full-fledged hybrid machine, which can be used as a laptop as well as a tablet, and runs a full-fledged version of Windows operating system, allowing users to install normal programs on the device.
According to a new report, we may get to see the next iteration of the tablet, the Surface Pro 4, soon. The tablet is expected to come in two sizes, shipping with the upcoming Windows 10 as its operating system. Just like the current iteration, the upcoming model is also expected to come with support for a detachable keyboard so it could be used as a laptop as well as a tablet.
As far as the sizes are concerned, the report mentions one will be the usual 12-inch model boasting a resolution of 2160 by 1440 pixels, while the other variant will offer a smaller display – possibly the Surface Pro Mini. We've heard quite a lot about the miniature version of the Surface tablet, and it was apparently canceled on the last moment, with reports mentioning that it has a tough competition with no distinctive features to set it apart from its competitors.

Each Surface Pro has arguably been better than the last, and there's good reason to believe that the Surface Pro 4 could turn out to be something special.
While the Surface Pro 2 (http://www.techradar.com/news/mobile-computing/laptops/www.techradar.com/reviews/pc-mac/tablets/microsoft-surface-pro-2-1182775/review) was marketed as a tablet that could do more than other tablets (particularly Apple's iPad), Microsoft switched tact to try and make the Surface Pro 3 (http://www.techradar.com/news/mobile-computing/laptops/www.techradar.com/reviews/pc-mac/tablets/microsoft-surface-pro-3-1249750/review) an all-out MacBook Air (http://www.techradar.com/reviews/pc-mac/laptops-portable-pcs/laptops-and-netbooks/13-inch-macbook-air-1158388/review) killer.
Touted "the tablet that can replace your laptop", it was lighter than Apple's popular machine, had a sharp display and excellent handwriting capabilities - but it was far from perfect. Battery life was so-so, you had to shell out for a (still pretty flimsy) Type Cover and it had a tendency to sizzle fingertips during operation.
However, with Intel's Core M 'Broadwell' CPU out (and Skylake (http://www.techradar.com/news/computing-components/processors/intel-s-battery-boosting-skylake-chips-to-land-in-august-1285165) on the horizon), in addition to Windows 10 (http://www.techradar.com/reviews/pc-mac/software/operating-systems/windows-10-1267364/review) later in the year, Microsoft has all the ingredients to make the Surface Pro 4 the 2-in-1 that could kick both your laptop and tablet into touch.
Cut to the chase

What is it? A brand new Surface Pro
When is it out? Could be as soon as March, as late as October
What will it cost? From around £575 to more than £1,300

<figure>http://cdn4.mos.techradar.futurecdn.net//art/tablets/Microsoft/Surface%20Pro%203/Hands%20on%202/surfacepro3-1-50-80.jpg</figure>Surface Pro 4 release dateSpeculation is mounting as to when Microsoft will launch the Surface Pro 4, with rumours pointing to October. That's when Windows 10 is expected to drop (Microsoft has tentatively teased "early fall"), and it's thought that the Surface Pro 4 will be one of the first to ship with Microsoft's upcoming OS pre-loaded.
It seems unlikely, but Microsoft could throw a curveball and launch the Surface Pro 4 at GDC on March 2 - 6, 2015, notes PC Advisor, citing a report by the Christian Times (http://www.christiantimes.com/article/microsoft.surface.pro.4.release.date.news.device.c oming.july.2015/51011.htm). That report cites insider sources from Microsoft, which point out that the Microsoft recently dropped the price of certain Surface Pro 3 configurations by $100.
Surface Pro 4 designAt 12 inches, the Surface Pro 3 is Microsoft's biggest Surface tablet (not counting the giant Surface Hub (http://www.techradar.com/reviews/pc-mac/tablets/surface-hub-1281987/review)). According to Design & Trend (http://www.designntrend.com/articles/32445/20141226/surface-pro-4-release-date-2015-display-sizes-price-specs-core-m-windows-10.htm), which points to Chinese news website cnBeta, the Surface Pro 4 will launch in two different sizes - one with a 12-inch display and a larger version with a 14-inch display (possibly to compete with the iPad Pro (http://www.techradar.com/news/mobile-computing/tablets/ipad-pro-release-date-news-and-rumors-1208454) and other rumoured monster tablets (http://www.techradar.com/news/mobile-computing/tablets/samsung-and-microsoft-may-be-planning-monster-13-inch-tablets-1271669)).
<figure>http://cdn4.mos.techradar.futurecdn.net//art/tablets/Microsoft/Surface%20Pro%203/Hands%20on%202/surfacepro3-12-50-80.jpg</figure>Microsoft's Surface tablets have always been praised for their design, so it's hard to see the company deviating too much from what has gone before. That seems to be the case judging by a company blog post (http://blog.surface.com/2014/11/surface-now-on-gsa-for-u-s-government-customers/) by general manager for Microsoft's Surface line Brian Hall, which says that the Surface Pro 3's accessories will be compatible with "the next generation of the 'Pro' line of Surface".
He wrote: "We are pleased to share that the following Surface Pro 3 accessories are designed with our product roadmap in mind and will be compatible with the next generation of the "Pro" line of Surface:

Today's Surface Pro 3 Type Covers
Our "infrastructure" accessories such as our power adapter, Ethernet adapter, and more
The Surface Pro 3 Docking Station

"This commitment helps validate an investment in Surface Pro 3 and solidifies Microsoft's overall commitment to the continued growth of the Surface brand."
On the other hand, now that Intel's fifth-generation Core M chips are available, Microsoft could use Intel's Broadwell-Y CPU to make the Surface Pro 4 thinner than its predecessor as well as fanless while retaining compatibility with accessories.
The Surface Pro 4 could launch alongside Microsoft's long-rumoured Surface Mini (http://www.techradar.com/news/mobile-computing/tablets/surface-mini-release-date-news-and-rumours-1245281) tablet, which is expected to feature an 8-inch display and will be positioned to take on the likes of the iPad Mini 2 (http://www.techradar.com/reviews/pc-mac/tablets/ipad-mini-2-with-retina-display-1191349/review) and Google Nexus (http://www.techradar.com/reviews/pc-mac/tablets/new-nexus-7-1169802/review) tablets.
Surface Pro 4 specsThe Surface Pro 4 could offer similar storage options to the Surface Pro 3, starting at 64GB and rising to 128GB, 256GB and 500GB. It wouldn't be surprising if Microsoft introduced a Surface Pro 4 with a 1TB storage option for the first time.
According to the Design & Trend report, the Surface Pro 4 will run Windows 10 and will come with a 2,160 x 1,440 pixel-resolution display, up to 1TB of storage and 16GB of RAM. It will also apparently come with Xbox game streaming.
<figure>http://cdn2.mos.techradar.futurecdn.net//art/tablets/Microsoft/Surface%20Pro%203/Hands%20on%202/surfacepro3-17-50-80.jpg</figure>As mentioned, it is expected that the Surface Pro 4 will come with Intel's Core M 'Broadwell' CPU, which was made available to device makers in January. In TechRadar's analysis piece, we argue that the powerful Intel Core M 5Y70 (http://www.techradar.com/news/computing-components/processors/core-m-benchmarks-why-this-cpu-is-the-perfect-candidate-for-the-surface-4-pro-1265761) is the perfect CPU for Microsoft's upcoming tablet.
The Surface Pro 4 could also come with new accessories following Microsoft's acquisition of N-Trig, the Israel-based company behind its Surface tablets' pressure-sensitive stylus technology.

Microsoft May Release Two Variants of Intel Core M Broadwell-Powered Surface Pro 4

Made with Flare More Info'> http://cdn.eteknix.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/microsoft-surface-pro-4-800x450.jpg
There have been a lot of talks about Apple’s upcoming iPad, the iPad Pro, which is said to be a device more oriented to the business side rather than the multimedia/entertainment market. However, Microsoft is looking to release an equal rival this year too.
The company is said to be working on a new Surface Pro 4, which may pick up where its predecessor left off. There might be two variant of the device, a 12-inch and a 14-inch model, both featuring a 2160 x 1440 resolution.
Under the hood, the Surface Pro 4 is said to boast Intel’s latest Core M Broadwell silicon-based 14nm technology CPU, which would make the tablet one of the first full-powered mobile devices shipping without a cooling fan. This rumor would most likely lead to the conclusion that the tablet will be much thinner and with a longer battery life.
While memory and storage is yet to be confirmed, speculations lead to the tablet coming with 8 or maybe even 16 GB of RAM and even bigger SSD storage than its predecessor. Microsoft is to be planning on releasing its new Surface Pro 4 in late Q2 2015.

Microsoft might be showing off the Surface Pro 4 this month (http://www.kitguru.net/laptops/tablet-pc/matthew-wilson/microsoft-might-be-showing-off-the-surface-pro-4-this-month/)

Microsoft might end up showing off the Surface Pro 4 tablet later this month at the company’s Build 2015 Conference, according to new reports. While the timing might be a little weird, considering that the Surface 3 only just launched a few weeks ago, the Surface Pro 3 has actually been available for some time and could do with an upgrade.
The Surface Pro 4 would likely be the first tablet to ship with Windows 10 natively installed. Citing an anonymous source inside Microsoft’s supply chain, DigiTimes has reported (http://www.digitimes.com/news/a20150408PD202.html) that the Surface Pro 4 will be unveiled soon ahead of a release later this year.
http://www.kitguru.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/surface-2-angle-stand-640x353.jpg (http://www.kitguru.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/surface-2-angle-stand-640x353.jpg)
The report says that the next generation Surface Pro tablet will be shown off at the Build Conference this month, although the tablet won’t enter mass production until June, ahead of an unknown release date later this year alongside the launch of Windows 10.
Microsoft’s annual Build Conference will take place from the 29th of April until the 1st of May. A Surface Pro 4 is likely going to launch this year alongside Windows 10 as an upgrade from the Surface Pro 3. Other rumors suggest that the tablet might try to take on larger 12 inch or 14 inch forms, which would help it compete better with laptops or the new fanless Macbook, which features an Intel Core M CPU.

Surface Pro 4 should be powered by fanless Broadwell chip, Windows 10

With Windows 10 getting closer and closer, news of the Surface Pro 4 is starting to hit. Microsoft's upcoming Surface Pro 3 successor is rumored to have quite the spec sheet, including Intel's fifth-generation Core processor.

image: http://imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/4/4/44823_01_surface-pro-4-powered-fanless-broadwell-chip-windows-10.jpg (http://www.tweaktown.com/image.php?image=imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/4/4/44823_01_surface-pro-4-powered-fanless-broadwell-chip-windows-10_full.jpg)
http://imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/4/4/44823_01_surface-pro-4-powered-fanless-broadwell-chip-windows-10.jpg

The rumored specifications have the Surface Pro 4 featuring a Broadwell processor from Intel with a fanless design "but with tiny holes for heat radiation", and "no noise" because of the fanless logic board according to Windows Central. The 12-inch display will remain, with its 2160x1440 resolution, and of course, Windows 10.

Microsoft's use of the U-series Broadwell CPU will still generate heat, but the little holes in the Surface Pro 4 should let out most of that heat, allowing for cooler operation. We should expect Microsoft to unveil the Surface Pro 4 as part of its launch during Windows 10 (http://www.tweaktown.com/news/44439/microsoft-rumored-release-surface-pro-4-windows-10-year/index.html), which flies out the window sometime in July, according to AMD (http://www.tweaktown.com/news/44666/amd-reveals-microsoft-launch-windows-10-july/index.html).

Surface Pro 4 To Receive New N-Trig Pen With Mid-May Launch

Things have started to pick up pace when it comes to Microsoft’s Surface Pro 4. As we get to sink our teeth in 2015, flagship and tablet upgrades from different manufacturers begin to hit the market. We’ve also been hearing quite a lot about Microsoft’s successor for the Surface Pro 3, which is expected to come with the manufacturer’s pending release of Windows 10. Well, if today’s sources are correct, then we could expect to see the Surface Pro 4 as soon as the middle of this month.

http://cdn3.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/surface-pro-3-with-surface-pro-type-cover-635x357.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/surface-pro-3-with-surface-pro-type-cover.jpg) Microsoft’s Surface Pro 4 Tipped To Be Unveiled At Special Conference Mid May While there has been word about the next Surface Pro coming with a fan less design, perhaps in lieu with Apple’s release of the MacBook Air, there had been no word so far about the tablet’s release date. Well, Slashgear (http://www.slashgear.com/surface-pro-4-reveal-tipped-for-mid-may-30381592/) claims to have received information about the device’s launch, with an anonymous source claiming that the next Surface Pro can expected to be unveiled at some time around the middle of this month, at a special conference held by Microsoft. A new generation N-trig pen is also rumored to come with the device.
Where does that leave Microsoft’s alleged plans to launch the Surface Pro 4 alongside Windows 10 remains to be seen so far. The Surface Pro 4 (http://wccftech.com/surface-pro-4-specifications/) will not be utilizing Core M, according to latest rumors and will instead be choosing to stick with Broadwell Core ‘i’ range of processors, While that is good news for those looking for performance, how well will it end up accommodating heat issues with respect to a fanless design still remains to be seen. After all there have been reports claiming that the Surface Pro 3 faces heating issues, particularly the Core i7 versions. But it won’t be long till be get to learn more if Microsoft really is unveiling the device later this month. Stay tuned, we’ll keep you updated and let us know what you think in the comments section.

Surface Pro 4 Will Be Running Skylake Processors; Expected Release Date October

Now this is an interesting turn of events; Surface Pro 4, the upcoming slate from, Microsoft which was supposed to be housing an Intel Core M processor (http://wccftech.com/surface-pro-4-coming-mid/) belonging to the 14 nm Broadwell lineup is instead going to be replaced by Skylake processors. This chips are going to be made on the same manufacturing process as Broadwell. The software giant plans on sweetening the pot for consumers by making the product run Windows 10 right out of the box, which will definitely be a welcome sight rather than users performing the tedious updating process themselves.
http://cdn2.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/surface-pro-3-with-surface-pro-type-cover-635x357-635x357.jpg (http://cdn3.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/surface-pro-3-with-surface-pro-type-cover-635x357.jpg)
Microsoft Plans On Upping Surface Pro 4 Units To 600,000 Per Month; Company Expecting Great Results From The Tablet? According to the latest report (http://www.digitimes.com/news/a20150716PD202.html), Microsoft had shipped out approximately 300,000 monthly units of its Surface Pro 3 slate. When Surface Pro 4 officially hits markets, the company plans on increasing that number to 500,000 – 600,000 units per month. Surface Pro 4 is expected to offer the same amount of features as its predecessor, ranging from a fully functional USB 3.0 port. In addition, the slate is also expected to exude a highly dense resolution and a large screen size that will deliver a ‘two in one’ solution for both casual users and those who require portability and performance for multiple tasks completion.

Like Surface Pro 3, Surface Pro 4 will most likely be available in the Core i3, Core i5, and Core i7 processor variants and is expected to feature a smaller price tag in order to target a larger audience. However, the highlight of the product will be that it will be running Windows 10, which is expected to be officially announced on July 29. Let us hope that Microsoft goes easy on the price of its upcoming flagship slate.
In our opinion, the fact that Microsoft plans on shipping about twice the number of units of Surface Pro 4 as it did with Surface Pro 3 will give a general idea that the company seems confident that its upcoming product is going to be nearly twice as successful as its predecessor. Looks like we are going to have to wait and see what other goodies come along with Surface Pro 4 in order to deliver a more conclusive analysis.
Are you guys excited for Surface Pro 4? Let us know your thoughts.

Microsoft Reported To Release Tablets with 12 Inch+ Screen Sizes

Microsoft seems dead serious about bridging the gap between tablets and laptops. Previously, we reported that the upcoming Surface Pro 4 will be releasing in October and will be sporting Skylake processors (http://wccftech.com/surface-pro-4-skylake-processors-windows-10/) instead of Intel’s Broadwell lineup. While we believe that Surface Pro 4 is going to sport a 12 inch display with a dense resolution, Microsoft might not stop there. The firm is also planning on releasing tablets in the future that will be sporting screen sizes above the 12 inch limit.

Microsoft Releasing Larger Screen Sized Tablets Would Mean Targeting The Notebook Market With Excessive Force According to the latest report featured on Microsoft-news (http://microsoft-news.com/microsoft-reportedly-planning-to-release-large-sized-tablets-with-disaplys-bigger-than-12-inch/), the report states that Microsoft Surface tablet “will feature a large size display.” In terms of tablet form factors, 12 inches is still a monumental screen size, and as of right now Microsoft has not detailed as to what size the company plans on classifying its tablets as ‘large’. Like always, we are going to have to wait for Windows 10’s official release date in order to get to know more about the firm’s plans.
Now, according to DigiTimes (http://www.digitimes.com/news/a20150720PD205.html), the first paragraph states the following:

“As demand for tablets has been weakening, tablet brand vendors worldwide have been adjusting their strategies for the product line. Apple and Microsoft are both planning to release large-size tablets or 2-in-1s with disaplys bigger thatn 12-inch, while Asustek Computer and Samsung Electronics are pushing inexpensive high-spec models. Hewlett-Packard (HP), Acer and Micro-Star International (MSI) have turned to the industrial tablet market.”
Now just because DigiTimes has reported this does not mean the website has found out about Microsoft and its plans. In fact, the software company has partnered with Acer in order to release affordable Cloudbooks. These Cloudbooks are going to target the market that Chromebooks have been able to accumulate for themselves, with the only difference being that the upcoming machines will be powered by Windows 10.

For now, take this information with a grain of salt.

The Surface Pro 4 Can Come Soon As Microsoft Gains On iPad By 140% In Revenues

Its been no secret over the past couple of days that Apple’s iPad sales have not been as good as Apple would have liked them too. And even though iPhone sales are at an record, folks over at Cupertino should be hard at work on deciphering the iPad puzzle Apple has landed itself into. Its latest iPad Air 2 was a good device in terms of every aspect, but according to latest financial data, iPad shipments have fallen by 18% while revenue has declined by 23%.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/surface-pro-3-with-surface-pro-type-cover-635x357-635x357.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/surface-pro-3-with-surface-pro-type-cover-635x357.jpg)
Amidst Falling iPad Fortunes, Microsft’s Surface Manages To Hold GroundBut even though popularity of the tablet and Apple’s iPad revenue continues to decline, things aren’t the same for everyone in the industry. Take a look at Microsoft’s earnings from the same quarter and you’ll see some mixed results. The Redmond based software/electronics giant sees revenues decline massively in its smartphone sector, owing to the mishap that Windows Phone has been.
But take a look at its income generated from Surface sales and you’ll see a surprising picture. Microsoft’s Surface series has oft been criticized for being too expensive when compared to other tablets, but the Surface has always been more than just a slate. Equipped with Intel’s processors, its able to achieve much more then you’d be able to do on your average portable device, and seems that the market continues to respond to this.

Microsoft’s Surface based revenues this quarter amount to a cool $840 million, which might not sound all that impressive but also marks a staggering increase of 117% over last year. With the launch of the Surface 3, the company also managed to successfully make the Surface Pro’s offerings more compact. Apple’s critical success factor has oft been its high price, which creates a sense of high value in the minds of many consumers.
But seems like this time the Cupertino manufacturer’s strategy might have backfired. With a much better offering for the similar price, consumer show a preference towards better specifications and functionality rather than brand image when it comes to their tablets. And with this turn in tide for Surface revenues, Microsoft seems all the more ready to finally launch the Surface Pro 3’s successor, the Surface Pro 4.
Microsoft’s Surface Pro 4 has seen sparse bits of leaks and rumors surrounding its specifications and there’s little that we know of about the hybrid upgrade. Its expected to stay similar in design to the Surface Pro 3 and come in October, alongside an Intel Skylake upgrade, which should be a treat for many users requiring decent performance from their device. Stay tuned, we’ll keep you updated as this develops.

An October Launch In Play; Surface Pro 4 Analysis, Specs And Roundup

When it comes to gadgets and mobiles, Microsoft’s seen mixed amount of fortunes. While the company’s other offerings, such as the Xbox or its operating systems manage to stay on top, gadgets seem to be outside the company’s reach. But the Surface lineup has started to do good recently as evidenced by the massive increase in revenues (http://wccftech.com/microsofts-surface-revenues-increase-ipad-sales-decline/) which Microsoft has seen from this series, this quarter. And now we believe that the Surface Pro’s successor might be here by October.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/surface-pro-3-1.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/surface-pro-3-1.jpg)
You Should Be Expecting The Surface Pro 4 By October According To EstimatesWith the rate things are progressing in the PC hardware world, you should be expecting the Surface Pro 4 in the next couple of months. After all, its been more than a year since we saw the last Surface upgrade and Microsoft itself should be pretty eager to push out a processor, given the fact that the Surface series has finally started to see some good fortunes as of late.
But before we get into those details, lets start from the design of the upcoming Surface Pro 4. According to Microsoft itself, the Surface Pro 3’s docking station and other accessories such as power adapters and more will be compatible with future generations as well. This most likely means that it’ll come with a similar design and we wont find ourselves disagreeing from this as well. The Surface Pro 3 is very well designed as well, and the device’s users don’t have design as the primary feature on their mind when picking it.
Rather, as we’ve judged so far, the Surface series sells primarily due to its excellent specs, which are able to handle a good amount of workloads and also allow Microsoft’s hybrid to be portable at the same time. With Intel’s Broadwell powering the current Surface Pro 3 lineup, its much more powerful than many similar offerings out there. And this balance of functionality with portability is what makes the Surface Pro such an attractive offering – even though it comes with quite a price tag.
Speaking of Broadwell, there’s no way that Microsoft will launch the next surface without Skylake. After all, the current generation runs on Haswell and not Broadwell, so existing devices will soon become highly outdated. And with Broadwell’s expected short life, Microsoft will wait for Skylake to make the big jump in its Surface lineup. Plus, Skylake will also bring several improvements to the entire lineup, of which power efficiency and improved performance are only a few. And when compared to Haswell, the Jump will be even better.

http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/ddea032e-93ea-49d5-b680-6727fff4b1ea-635x327.png (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/ddea032e-93ea-49d5-b680-6727fff4b1ea.png)
Judging by several reports which have surfaced over the past couple of months, Microsoft’s options for the Surface Pro 4 have been as open as ever. While we should expect fanless design to be out of consideration for now, given the power requirements of its intended consumers, options such as N-Trig (http://wccftech.com/surface-pro-4-coming-mid/) pen are still on the cards. Screen resolution is expected to stay the same with 2160 x 1440 (http://wccftech.com/surface-pro-4-specifications/) and the device is reportedly to come with the Surface Pro 4 (http://wccftech.com/microsoft-surface-pro-4/) sporting a 14 inch screen size.
Two factors are, however of the most importance when considering the Surface Pro 4’s future. First of these is Windows 10, and as Microsoft had originally intended, Windows 10 was to come out in October, rather than a July launch, which took place just yesterday. So with Windows 10 coming earlier, Microsoft now has no other option rather than wait for Skylake. After all, shipping the Surface Pro 4 with Broadwell would make no sense at all, since Skylake’s launch is just around the corner.
Plus, October is a date that we’ve been hearing for long when talking about the Surface Pro 4 (http://wccftech.com/microsoft-surface-pro-3-successor-coming-october/), particularly with Skylake (http://wccftech.com/surface-pro-4-skylake-processors-windows-10/) having been thrown into the mix. And had Microsoft not decided to speed up its Windows 10 launch to accommodate the back to school season, we’re sure the new Surface would have debuted alongside the last Windows. Also, the company will have to accommodate its various PC partners and pick a period in which Skylake devices hit the market, so as to not negatively impact their market impact.
Whatever the case may be, an upgrade for the Surface Pro 3 really is imminent, and Microsoft needs to take quick action if it want to capitalize on its recent success. And the company doesn’t need to change much when it comes to the device’s design either; all it needs to do is improve performance, introduce some much needed new features such as biometric scanning and its good to go. Performance has been a critical factor for the Surface lineup, and an October launch will allow Microsoft to effectively balance both Windows 10 and Skylake. Thoughts? Let us know what you think in the comments section below and stay tuned for the latest.

Surface Pro4 might have been delayed for Skylake

http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/5f65c48e06453c2538d4804f79887fbe_L.jpg (http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/5f65c48e06453c2538d4804f79887fbe_XL.jpg)

It all makes sense now

The dark satanic rumour mill has suggested a good reason Microsoft delayed the launch of its flagship tablet-laptop, Surface Pro 4.

The latest rumours suggest that Microsoft was waiting to jack the latest Intel Skylake processor under its bonnet.
Redmond seemingly wants the new Surface Pro to be state of the art and be a tablet which is useful. Skylake will give it better battery life and performance with current industry standards like Bluetooth 4.1, Cat6 LTE, WiDi 6.0, and A4WP wireless charging weaved into it.
Intel will support the tablets through compatibility with 3D cameras and audio processing software plus better stylus interaction.
There is no sign of confirmation of the rumours. Microsoft has been quiet so far about the Surface Pro 4. We had been expecting it to highlight some of the better features of Windows 10.
However if the rumours are true it will be a hell of a lot better than the MacBook Air 2015 because it will feature innovation, rather than just being thin.
Latest news about its release date suggest a 2016 launch.

Microsoft’s Surface Pro 4 Will Come With Skylake And 4K Display In October

Given that Microsoft rarely manages to generate some interest in its hardware devices, beside the Xbox One, the Surface Pro lineup has proven to be a nice exception. We’ve been seeing several specifications and features of the upcoming device pop up, and it won’t be long until we get to see the next in the Surface Pro lineup, especially since Skylake is now with us as well. We’ve managed to uncover some fresh details about the upcoming slate and you can take a look at them below.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 Expected In October With Skylake And Several ChangesEven though the Surface Pro has seen an increase in revenues, and even though Microsoft itself has announced that existing Surface Pro 3 accessories will be able to work with the upgrade; that doesn’t mean there won’t be any changes on board. Starting from The Verge’s Tom Warren, he believes that the next Surface lineup willi indeed be coming with Skylake on board and can be expected in October.
With an October launch, the Surface Pro 4 is also expected to come with the first major Windows 10 upgrade and will be divided into two screen categories; namely 12 and 14 inches. In addition, same as the last time around, the Surface Pro 4 will be available in more than one variant, with prices ranging from $500 to $1300. The low end Surface Pro 4 will be coming with the same display resolution as last year, while the high end variant is expected to go as high as 4K.
The base model is expected to incorporate a 10 inch FHD display, fanless i3 supplemented with 4 GB of RAM and Type C USB. All of this will be powered by a massive 8600 mAh battery and Microsoft’s going to throw in a display and a HDMI port just for kicks. The high end Surface Pro 4 will be coming with Core i7, 16 GB of RAM and a larger 13 inch display.
If all of these specifications turn out to be correct (http://www.geeksnack.com/2015/08/04/microsoft-launching-a-surface-pro-4-this-fall/), and Microsoft also manages to overhaul the Surface Pro 4’s design, then we should be in for a good launch this October. A successful Surface Pro launch will finally mean a big break for Microsoft in terms of hardware and gadgets and will give it a good base from where to move towards other devices. Lets hope Redmond knows what its doing. It surely sounds like it. Stay tuned and let us know what you think in the comments section below.

Surface Pro 4 To Be The Future Of Laptops As Suppliers See Increased Orders For Upcoming Slate

Microsoft’s upcoming flagship tablet, Surface Pro 4 might end up bridging the gaps between laptops and tablets after all thanks to its impressive hardware specifications and portable form factor. This is perhaps one of the reasons why suppliers will reportedly be seeing a 50 percent increase in volume for the upcoming slate compared to its predecessor, Surface Pro 3.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/microsoft-surface-pro-4-635x358.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/microsoft-surface-pro-4.jpg)
Surface Pro 4 To Be Equipped With A Skylake Processor And Will Feature A Price Tag Less Than Its PredecessorAccording to DigiTimes (http://www.digitimes.com/news/a20150811PD207.html), the following has been stated:

“Microsoft’s orders for new Surface 2-in-1 devices for fourth-quarter 2015 reportedly will be 50% higher than the volume during the same period a year ago, and the related upstream supply chain is already preparing to supply components for the devices.”

As stated earlier, Surface Pro 4 models are going to feature Intel’s Skylake (http://wccftech.com/surface-pro-4-skylake-processors-windows-10/) processors instead of the company’s Core M lineup. While these Skylake will still be processed under the company’s 14 nm manufacturing process, they will still provide the much needed horsepower and efficiency required to turn Surface Pro 4 in to an effective mobile machine. Additionally, it was also reported that the upcoming tablet will be boasting a 4K resolution, along with screen size models that will be in between the range of 12 to 14 inches.
We also reported that pricing details will range between $500 and $1300 (http://wccftech.com/surface-pro-4/), which is a much better offer compared to the price tag that Surface Pro 3 was stamped with. The upcoming slate will be running with Windows 10 right ‘out of the box’, which is something that we have been waiting for. As for the RAM count, we suspect that 4 GB is going to be present on the base model, and will work its way up depending upon the price tag it carries.
While there is no mention of a release date, Surface Pro 4 is expected to be announced during sometime in October, so we will keep our fingers crossed and hope that the upcoming tablet does not disappoint us.

Microsoft Might Soon Release the Surface Pro 4

http://cdn.eteknix.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/microsoft-surface-pro-4-800x474.jpg
Even though some of us expected the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 to be released on July 4 alongside the latest version of Windows, it looks like Microsoft wasn’t willing or able to meet this deadline and decided to schedule the device’s launch to mid-fall. More specifically, the Surface Pro 4 will probably be released on October 4, which means that those of you who were planning to purchase a Surface Pro 3 should probably wait a bit in order to get your hands on its more powerful successor.
The Surface Pro 4 is not going to be an ordinary tablet, as it will serve the function of both a laptop and a tablet. This particular design will make it highly versatile and sought after, but since it will basically incorporate two different products, it will cost about $1,700, which is definitely not cheap. Still, for that price you’ll be able to enjoy the impressive performance. The Surface Pro 4 is expected to be powered by a Core i5 or Core i7 processor while its screen is rumored to measure 12 inches and to feature a resolution of 2160 x 1440 pixels. Despite its thinness, the “laplet” will be well ventilated and will probably feature a battery range of around 17 hours, which is nothing to sneeze at.
Are you looking forward to the Microsoft Surface Pro 4?
Thank you Yibada (http://en.yibada.com/articles/54428/20150816/microsoft-surface-pro-4-release-date-october.htm) for providing us with this information.

Surface Pro 4 Will Remove Notebooks From The Equation With This Crucial Feature

Microsoft’s Surface Pro 4 is slated for an October announcement (http://wccftech.com/microsoft-will-be-announcing-a-ton-of-hardware-during-month-of-october/), alongside the company’s other products such as Lumia handsets, as well as a fitness device called Band 2. Microsoft plans on bridging the gap between tablets and laptops with the release of the upcoming product but the Skylake processors (http://wccftech.com/surface-pro-4-to-be-successful-as-suppliers-see-increased-orders/) present inside it will not be sufficient enough to do the job. You know what will? Lots on internal storage. Surface Pro 4 is not just going to come incorporated with impressive hardware. When Microsoft wants to bridge the gap between notebooks and tablets, we are confident they are going to treat this ambition with serious conviction.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/faf258d2-e1af-46cb-9de3-80e62f9744d41-635x278.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/faf258d2-e1af-46cb-9de3-80e62f9744d41.jpg)
Surface Pro 4 Will Come In Different High Capacity Storage Models, Including 512 GB And 1 TB OnesThe latest hardware leak from China (http://weibo.com/wpxap#_rnd1440081098684) suggests that Surface Pro 4 will not only come big on processing power, but internal storage as well. According to the source, the upcoming slate will be available in several storage models, ranging from 128 GB to 1 TB of storage. However, the only thing that concerns us that as soon as the storage count starts to increase, the pricing of the tablet will shoot up too.

More details uncovered from the leak also suggests that the highest Surface Pro 4 model will also come with a whopping RAM count of 16 GB, along with a Core i7 processor. Naturally, consumers who have a ton of spare cash lying around will have the financial capacity to acquire one but seeing as how Microsoft has gone to extreme lengths to virtually remove the gap between bulky laptops and tablets shows that future mobile products will be much cheaper and sport better specs than this.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/sadsdadasdsadassad.png (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/sadsdadasdsadassad.png)
However, one of the primary reasons why Surface Pro 4 is stacked with so much hardware is because it wants to gain a monumental advantage over its primary nemesis; Apple’s iPad Pro (http://wccftech.com/ipad-pro-chief-supplier-for-its-displays-has-been-revealed/). If the leak concerning the hardware of Surface Pro 4 ends up being true, then Apple’s large screen tablet will already be in heaps in trouble. Let us wait till the month of October and hope that Surface Pro 4 features ‘top of the line’ hardware and a price that caters to a large consumer market.

Microsoft Surface Pro 4 Processor, Connectivity, RAM, Features And Launch Date Surface

With the passing weeks, Microsoft’s Surface Pro 4 has started to make an increasing amount of rounds in the news. The upgraded hybrid from Redmond, which has seen positive market reception since the Surface Pro 3 upgrade, is highly anticipated by a lot of quarters, and if the information we have on it so far is correct, then the next Surface Pro upgrade should be quite impressive indeed.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/microsoft-surface-pro-4-635x358.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/microsoft-surface-pro-4.jpg)
More Details About The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 Surface TodayWe already saw a rather detailed Surface Pro 4 leak yesterday, that managed to outline several key features on the upcoming hybrid. Today’s leak builds up on yesterday’s information and provides us with some more details on the device. For starters, the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 is tipped (http://www.jdgod.com/index.php?m=content&c=index&a=show&catid=84&id=21629) to be coming with Intel’s Skylake processors, with the 15 W, U series being the most likely candidate for the hybrid.
In addition, Microsoft’s slate is also expected to be coming with 16 GB of RAM, and storage specifications of not only 128, 256 and 512 GB, but also a massive 1 TB option that should further help differentiate the device from other offerings in the market. The storage SSDs in the high end versions will be coming from Samsung as well, according to today’s information.

Also, if you found that 12 inches on your Surface Pro 3 were simply too small for your requirements, then Microsoft’s got you covered over there as well. Not only will the Surface Pro 4 be offering a 12 inch screen, but an additional 14 inch version is also expected to debut this year, which should further incite user’s towards Redmond’s hybrid.
The Surface Pro 4 be coming with a larger battery size and USB Type C connectivity on board, further adding to the large array of features its expected to offer. But interestingly, our source for this information reports that Microsoft will be launching the Surface Pro 4, alongside the Lumia 950 in September, rather than October as it has been reported so far.
Given that initial reports of an October launch for the Surface Pro 4 were based on the fact that Microsoft would also be launching Windows 10 alongside, a September launch might just take place as well, since Apple’s upcoming iPhone and iPad events will be further saturating the market with more offerings. But until we get to hear something from Microsoft’s end, all of this is speculation after all. So stay tuned and let us know what you think in the comments section below.

Microsoft Surface Pro 4 Coming With 11 And 14 Inch Screen Sizes, Say Supply Chain Sources

The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 has started to see an increasing amount of media attention over the past couple of weeks. Redmond’s Surface Pro 3 has seen a surprisingly warm market reception and Microsoft really seems to be eager to build up on that with the Surface Pro 4. And while any official dates about the device haven’t been revealed, looks like Taiwanese suppliers have already started to see the benefits of the next Surface Pro.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/faf258d2-e1af-46cb-9de3-80e62f9744d41-635x278.jpg
Microsoft And Amazon’s Larger Screen Tablets Benefit Taiwanese SuppliersWhen it comes to the Surface Pro 4 (http://wccftech.com/microsoft-surface-pro-4-detailed-exposure/), we’ve seen several specifications pop up so far. The upgraded tablet/notebook hybrid from Microsoft is expected to come with Intel’s latest Skylake processors on board and will be available in new options as well. Reportedly, the high-end Surface Pro 4 could see RAM as high as 16GB with Intel’s Core i7 on board.
It’s also expected to come with screen sizes of 14-inches for some larger variants, which could turn out to be the right move from Microsoft if it wants to further penetrate the enterprise sector. And speaking of larger screens, Taiwanese display manufacturers have started to reap the benefits of the device. According to supply chain sources from that part of the world, Microsoft’s indeed planning to introduce two Surface 2-in-1 devices this year with screen sizes of 11 and 12-14 inches, with Taiwan’s supply chain expected to see a boost in revenue as a result of this.

What’s more is that the same sources have also spoken up about Amazon’s plans for a 12-inch tablet this year, though in limited quantities. What uses does the online retailer expect from such a device on its end can only be a wild guess as of now, but maybe it has also decided to enter the tablet race.
The Surface Pro 4 is expected to be launched in October by Microsoft so there’s only a little while until we learn more.
Stay tuned and let us know what you think in the comments section below.

HP And Dell Give Microsoft An Enterprise Assist With Surface Pro

Two years removed from taking a $900 million write-off (http://hothardware.com/news/is-microsofts-900-million-dollar-surface-rt-mistake-the-writing-on-the-wall) related to unsold Surface RT tablets, Microsoft (http://hothardware.com/tags/microsoft) is tapping OEMs to sell its Surface Pro line. Specifically, Dell (http://hothardware.com/tags/dell) and Hewlett-Packard (http://hothardware.com/tags/hewlett-packard) will carry Surface Pro tablets as part of Microsoft's new Surface Enterprise Initiative.

Dell will be the first to start selling Surface Pro tablets with Windows 10 (http://hothardware.com/tags/windows-10) and Surface Pro accessories. Sales will kick off next month in the United States and Canada through Dell's North America commercial sales organization and later in the year through its website. This will expand to 28 other markets in early 2016.

http://hothardware.com/ContentImages/NewsItem/34994/content/Surface_Pro_3.jpg

"Business customers will be able to buy Surface Pro from Dell, the same way they buy our Venue Pro tablets and Latitude 2-in-1s and laptops, configure, deploy and support them throughout their organization the same way," Dell stated in a blog post. "Now customers have a 'one stop shop' to get the very best Windows devices in the market backed by award-winning Dell Support and Configuration & Deployment Services."

Dell will back Surface Pro sales with a one-year warranty. Customers have the option of extending it to four years. They can also upgrade to ProSupport or ProSupport with accidental damage protection.

https://youtu.be/XXpS9oEwXzM?list=PLFPUGjQjckXGRfoXuHlteRIH_eadxtn5 S

It's an interesting move in part because Dell already sells Surface-like products such as the Venue 11 Pro 5000. There's also the Inspiron 13 7000, a 2-in-1 PC that allows the screen to fold all the way back.

HP will also sell Surface Pro tablets at some point, though no date has been set.

Chinese Manufacturer Prepping A Skylake CPU Powered Tablet To Take On Surface Pro 4

Microsoft outdid itself when it announced its Surface Pro 4 (http://wccftech.com/amazing-specifications-features-surface-pro-4-render-current-laptop-useless/), a Skylake powered tablet with enough horsepower to become a laptop substitute. However, a Chinese manufacturer has taken note of what Microsoft has accomplished and will answer back with its own powerful product.

Cube Is Preparing A Large Screen Tablet That Will Take On Surface Pro 4 – Here Are The Rumored Hardware Specifications According to a source, Cube is preparing a powerful Surface Pro 4 clone that will be running a 6th generation processor in order to match the processing capabilities of Microsoft’s flagship tablet. The specification details surrounding the leak suggests that the processor is going to be a Core m3-6Y30, which is present in the base model of Microsoft’s flagship slate. While the CPU will be no match for the Core-i5 or Core-i7 processor models, we are glad to know that the upcoming tablet will at least go head to head with the base model.

As for the remaining specifications, Cube’s mysterious tablet is no doubt going to be running Windows 10, and will have a resolution of 1080p. While there are no details of a screen size, we believe that it will come close to the 12 inch form factor of Surface Pro 4 in order to provide a much more competitive matchup between the two machines. One commendable thing to notice about Cube is that it has kept its hand restrictive on the resolution, in order to keep the price tag competitive, as well as to improve overall battery life.

Microsoft Beats Apple In Online Tablet Sales (http://www.hardocp.com/news/2015/12/05/microsoft_beats_apple_in_online_tablet_sales)

Many seem to be on the fence as to how trustworthy this data is, but I could certainly believe it (http://www.winbeta.org/news/microsoft-beats-apple-online-tablet-sales), as the Surface Pro tablets have proven themselves to be worthwhile devices.

…it’s no coincidence that Microsoft had a huge October. The Surface Book and Surface Book 4 were both introduced at Microsoft’s October 6 hardware event, and they represent significantly more expensive machines than Apple’s iPad (although the recently released iPad Pro should increase the average sales price of Apple’s tablet range).

Microsoft faces Surface tablet delays

http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/d63b6de4b7ed63f226f4f5f83b8a39c5_L.jpg (http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/d63b6de4b7ed63f226f4f5f83b8a39c5_XL.jpg)

Skylake’s fault
Just when Microsoft has a product that is duffing up Apple, it is suffering from supply problems caused by Intel.

According to Digitimes (http://www.digitimes.com/news/a20151207PD202.html), Microsoft's Surface Book and Surface Pro 4 2-in-1 are expected to see weaker-than-expected shipments in the fourth quarter because of Intel Skylake processor shortages.
The situation is so bad that some orders have been postponed to the first quarter of 2016. Redmond and its make supplier Pegatron have refused to comment on the news.
However Digitime’s deep throats said that the Surface Book's monthly shipments will have a chance to surpass 100,000 units and around 200,000 units for Surface 4 in the first quarter.
Other rivals had to dramatically reduce their orders for the first quarter of 2016 because of seasonal factors but Redmond’s orders for these high-end devices are expected to stay strong and are giving Apple’s products a major rival for once.
The Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book are mainly targeting Apple's products as their major competitors and is hoping these machine to become a demonstration to its notebook brand partners.

Since most of its partners' product prices are lower than the Surface 2-in-1s, the Surface products are mainly served as a complement to the brand vendors' products.

Fix found for Surface Pro 4 sleep power consumption problem

Surface Pro 4 users who wish to use the tablet hybrid at its convenient portable best, utilising the sleep mode for fast response wake times, have been experiencing trouble with excessive battery drain. According to Windows Guru Paul Thurrott the new Surface Book suffers (https://www.thurrott.com/mobile/microsoft-surface/62772/microsoft-will-not-fix-power-management-issues-with-new-surface-devices-until-next-year) from the same power management problem. Now there may be a decent workaround available, pre-empting Microsoft's official solution expected later in the year.
According to reports (http://www.neowin.net/news/new-intel-drivers-appear-to-solve-surface-pro-4-sleep-power-consumption-issue), when you put your Microsoft Surface 4 into sleep mode it continues to munch through approx 8 per cent of its battery capacity per hour. That's not very good at all and the same symptoms displayed by the Surface Book are, in Paul Thurrott's view (https://www.thurrott.com/mobile/microsoft-surface/62772/microsoft-will-not-fix-power-management-issues-with-new-surface-devices-until-next-year), "unacceptable", especially in a premium device.
http://hexus.net/media/uploaded/2016/1/622ba294-514e-4b55-b72a-c2b5a4790e1a.jpg
There's a new driver available for the Intel chipset featured in the Surface Pro 4 that hasn't yet passed through the processes necessary to become available via Windows Update to these machines. According to Windows-centric site Neowin (http://www.neowin.net/news/new-intel-drivers-appear-to-solve-surface-pro-4-sleep-power-consumption-issue), the driver installer file available from the Intel downloads site won't work either. However it notes that the driver update ZIP file can be downloaded, extracted and the update for the Intel Iris Graphics component applied manually.
The impact of the new Intel driver is quite significant in Neowin's testing. In updating from a driver released in November to this latest one power consumption while sleeping, over a two hour period, was reduced from 2,000mW to 625mW. Many Intel components that previously showed they were 100 per cent active in sleep are seen to be truly sleeping with the latest Intel driver update applied. There are instructions (http://www.neowin.net/news/new-intel-drivers-appear-to-solve-surface-pro-4-sleep-power-consumption-issue) on the site to go ahead with this Surface 4 driver update - but please don't proceed if you haven't done proper backups, considered any risk, or have the patience to wait for Microsoft's official update.
In other Microsoft Surface news today, a Microsoft patent application has come to light (http://www.windowscentral.com/surface-pro-5-may-have-rechargeable-surface-pen-docks-magnetically) concerning the Surface Pen. The patent shows that Microsoft is considering a stylus silo that also recharges the inking implement. With the current Surface pen offering between six months and a year of battery powered use it is not clear why effort is being put into this, other than the potential value of the patent.

Microsoft’s new Surface Pro 4 firmware accidentally installs to wrong devices

http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/141674bd4fb1f6d8275eae6c50a4e160_L.jpg (http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/141674bd4fb1f6d8275eae6c50a4e160_XL.jpg)

Crashes them hard with blue and black screens
Earlier today, Microsoft released the first firmware updates of the year for its latest Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book devices. These were automatic updates that were supposed to add battery charging enhancements, a more accurate fingerprint sensor driver, and support for Microsoft’s Surface Pen on the Surface Pro 4 device.

Unfortunately, the update wasn’t rolled out to the correct devices as the company originally intended. Over the past several hours, users of the older Surface Pro and Surface Pro 3 models have taken to Reddit and other forums to complain that the Surface Pro 4 firmware update was automatically installed to their previous-generation devices - silently in the background and without warning (http://www.morningnewsusa.com/surface-pro-4-firmware-update-mistakenly-installed-on-surface-pro-surface-pro-3-2354583.html) – after which their tablets started crashing spontaneously and giving black and blue screens of death.
One particular user, who took to the Microsoft Forums (http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/surface/forum/surfpro3-surfupdate/issues-after-updated-surface-pro-3-firmware/350beadc-d94d-4668-aae3-aae54e2431f7?auth=1) to give a complaint, stated that he ran into several issues after updating his Surface Pro 3 to the latest January 2016 firmware update. They include rebooting into a black screen, waking up from sleep randomly, the Surface App mapping not working, occasional blue screens ending in “DRIVER_POWER_STATE_failure,” and not all drivers being up-to-date as described in the Surface Pro 3 update history page (https://www.microsoft.com/surface/en-us/support/install-update-activate/pro-3-update-history?os=windows-10).
A Reddit user has said, "Surface app refuses to save settings, and pen pressure settings no longer have any effect. After closing the app, it refuses to start again. Another has said, "[the] Start menu refuses to pop up. Windows button does not work. Pen input becomes spotty. This firmware update is literally the worst thing I've ever downloaded from Windows Update."
http://www.fudzilla.com/images/stories/2016/January/microsoft-surface-pro-4-firmware-january-2016.jpg
Microsoft Surface Pro 4 firmware update - January 27, 2016
A current solution to the firmware mix up is to uninstall the individual pen driver and reboot, as the original driver will be reinstalled upon reboot. For others, however, their Surface Pro 3 devices are stuck in continuous reboot loops or the above mentioned blue and black screen descriptions.
Microsoft has clarified, “The [Surface Pen] driver is not intended for Surface Pro 3 and is no longer being offered as part of the update. If you had manually downloaded and installed the Surface Pen Settings driver from the Surface Pro 4 Drivers page in an effort to enable Surface pen button customization through the Surface app on Surface Pro 3, you will need to roll back and remove the driver.”
Perhaps the most interesting part of the firmware mix up is that Microsoft has currently pulled today’s new Surface Pro 4 firmware update. Fourth-generation tablet users are now stuck waiting for pen support, while first and third-generation tablet users are stuck with black and blue devices as the result of the erroneous Windows Automatic Update.
Meanwhile, the actual Surface Pro 3 firmware released last week on January 19, 2016 brought the following improvements:

Surface Pro Embedded Controller Firmware update (v38.9.50.0) improves system start-up reliability.
Surface Pro UEFI update (v3.11.1150.0) adds pen support in UEFI menus and improved support for 3rd party onscreen keyboards.
Surface Fingerprint Sensor driver update (v2.2.10.6) improves accuracy.
Wireless Network Controller and Bluetooth driver update (v15.68.9037.59) improves access point compatibility and throughput on 5GHz.
HD Graphics Family driver update 4331 (v20.19.15.4331) improves color calibration and system stability.
Display Audio driver update (v6.16.00.3189) supports compatibility with the updated HD Graphics Family driver.
Surface Cover Audio driver update (v2.0.1220.0) improves system stability.
Microsoft Surface ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery driver update (v1.2.0.2) ensures correct surface driver is installed.

Microsoft’s Surface charger recall affected over 2 million customers (http://www.kitguru.net/channel/generaltech/matthew-wilson/microsofts-surface-charger-recall-affected-over-2-million-customers/)

Recently, Microsoft announced that it would be recalling power cables for some of its Surface devices after hearing reports of a fault with models sold before July 2015. At the time, Microsoft said that this would only affect a small number of customers but it turns out that over two million customers ended up returning their power cables for a replacement.
This recall affected Surface devices sold before July 2015 and did not affect those who bought the Surface Pro 4. At the time, (http://www.kitguru.net/laptops/tablet-pc/matthew-wilson/microsoft-is-recalling-surface-pro-power-cables/) a Microsoft spokesperson said: “As a result of damage caused by AC power cords being wound too tightly, twisted or pinched over an extended period of time, a very small proportion of Surface Pro customers have reported issues with their AC power cord.”
http://www.kitguru.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/surface-pro-2.jpg (http://www.kitguru.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/surface-pro-2.jpg)
Aside from knowing that 2.25 million Surface owners sent back their power cables, we also know that this followed on from 56 reports of Surface cables catching fire. The reports were forwarded to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, showing real incidents of 56 Surface cables catching fire after overheating, so it’s a good job Microsoft went ahead and issued such a big recall.
If you happen to own a Surface device sold before July last year, you can find information on how to get your replacement power cable, HERE. (https://www.microsoft.com/surface/en-gb/support/warranty-service-and-recovery/powercord)

How To Get A $100 Discount On All Microsoft Surface Pro 4 Models?

A hefty discount on an expensive product is always a welcome sight and seeing as getting yourself a $100 discount on a Surface Pro 4 is something we have been wanting to see for a very long time. So how can you take advantage of this offer? We will tell you how.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Surface-Pro-4-635x354.png
Microsoft Is Offering A $100 On All Surface Pro 4 Models, Except The 1TB Storage One On the Microsoft Store, the company is offering an immediate $100 discount on all Surface Pro 4 models, expect those that feature 1TB of storage. Regardless, even getting a $100 on the 512GB storage is not a bad deal to avail at this time. If you want to know more about the product, we have detailed out proper information for you for the company’s flagship tablet (http://wccftech.com/amazing-specifications-features-surface-pro-4-render-current-laptop-useless/) and its hybrid product (http://wccftech.com/surface-book-powerful-macbook-pro-confirms-microsoft/). Unfortunately, Microsoft has not provided a discount for its Surface Book, which is quite disappointing.
If you want to experience the best of what Microsoft has to offer, then we highly recommend that you save up sufficient amounts of money for either one of the products. It’s because Surface Pro 4 is going to set you back by $2,699 (http://wccftech.com/expensive-highest-configured-model-surface-pro-4/), while Surface Book is the more expensive model, with a $3,199 price tag. Another thing that you should be reminded of is that there are going to be no accessories provided to you in this discount, which is a darn shame. The only thing that you will be getting is a Surface Pen.

The base model of Surface Pro 4 is powered by an Intel Skylake Core m3 processor, while the highest model features a Core i7 CPU. The base model is also incorporated with 4GB of RAM, along with 128GB of flash storage. Out of the box, Surface Pro 4 is running Windows 10, and you will be receiving its updates in the foreseeable future. Apart from this price slash, Microsoft has grown a huge heart it seems because the software giant is also offering a $50 discount on its Band 2 (http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/en_US/pdp/Microsoft-Band-2/productID.324438600?icid=en_US_homepage_whatsnew_2 _Band2save50_020716&tduid=%28d45656d5620dcbe4c8bb680a6226e32b%29%28256 380%29%282459594%29%28TnL5HPStwNw-gbJc9cj43Q9u3pAmVbvwdQ%29%28%29), which was originally priced for $249.99.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/1-635x350.png
Keep in mind that this offer will remain active till February 27, so make sure that you have taken advantage of this offer. Hopefully in the foreseeable, we should be able to see even more discounts for the slate, and perhaps for the company’s first ever hybrid. Regardless, tell us what you thought about two mobile computing beasts? We will wait for your answers in the polls below.

Microsoft launches next gen Miracast Wireless Display Adapter

Microsoft has launched a next generation Wireless Display Adapter. This new device improves upon the Miracast accessory it released back in 2014 with a new form factor and improved performance. In other Microsoft device news the firm has just released a BIOS update for its Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book computers, to address the previously (http://hexus.net/tech/news/laptop/89855-fix-found-surface-pro-4-sleep-power-consumption-problem/) reported battery sapping power management issues.
New Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter
A new Miracast dongle has been launched by Microsoft. The updated device is available for pre-order now (http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/en_US/pdp/productID.332334400), costing $49.99, and will ship at the beginning of March. Like the previous model it allows users to wirelessly send what is displayed upon their compatible phone, tablet (such as the Surface range) or laptop to a big screen TV, projector or monitor, for example. You can switch back to working on other tasks on your device while the content keeps streaming on the second screen.
http://hexus.net/media/uploaded/2016/2/17c021ed-be09-40ed-88c5-14219fa67a89.jpg
Microsoft talks up the new dongle on its device blog claiming that "It brings the best features and functionality of the first generation while reducing the latency and packing it into a new form factor".

<iframe width="700" height="394" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/zQDP6a_zuSw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Unlike some other wireless screen streaming devices Miracast doesn't limit you to use within certain apps or to certain content. It is Intel Wireless Display (Wi-Di) certified so can function with those devices too.
Surface Pro 4, Surface Book firmware updates
Users of the Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book have been rather annoyed about the devices' power management issues. While in 'sleep' these premium device have been merrily munching through batteries, having a big impact on their convenient utility value as portables.
http://hexus.net/media/uploaded/2016/2/6b20a2fe-3bb7-4578-994c-7454a66be5fc.jpg
Now Microsoft has released (https://www.microsoft.com/surface/en-us/support/install-update-activate/surface-pro-4-update-history) firmware updates to fix these, and other issues, with the newest Surface devices. The particular parts of the update, addressing power management (Surface Pro 4) are; "Surface System Aggregator Firmware update (v103.1081.260.0) improves accuracy of battery status and battery life during sleep." There is also a fix listed as "Surface UEFI update (v104.1085.768.0) improves battery life and improves stability during power state transition changes into and out of sleep states." And the "Intel HD Graphics 520 driver update (v20.19.15.4364) improves display stability, system stability and battery life," could be an important update to address the headlining issue.
If you own one of the affected devices and haven't received the above firmware and software updates as yet, you should be notified/updated shortly.

This Surface Pro 4 type cover ad is as pretentious as it gets (http://www.tweaktown.com/news/51581/surface-pro-4-type-cover-ad-pretentious-gets/index.html)

Microsoft has a fancy new Type Cover out for the Surface Pro 4 and a pretentious ad to go with it.

<iframe width="781" height="469" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/9IBLg4gCXiQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

In it, people wearing the same fabric the type cover is made out of say things like, "two-toned mélange effect", "the Alcantara aesthetic is created at the polymer level", "it's not just an accessory", and "you live with it, and it lives with you."

Once you get past the nausea/hilarity though (or just watch the ad on mute), it is admittedly a lovely looking type cover. $160 lovely, though? Doubtful.
