Xiaomi sold 61.1 million smartphones in 2014, as sales tripled

Xiaomi, the No. 3 global smartphone manufacturer, saw its sales triple in 2014, racking up more than 61.1 million units sold in 2014. It's impressive growth from 18.7 million units in 2013, as the company continues to expand outside of China - with a focus on India, Russia, and other markets.

Sales also doubled year-over-year, up to $11.97 billion, as the company continues to prove it may have what it takes to put pressure on Samsung and Apple. Although the company has focused on selling cost-friendly devices - with no specific rush to enter the United States or UK - there are plenty of first-time smartphone owners the company is able to cater to.

"In 2015, the smart devices playing field will become extremely competitive, especially as the growth of the smartphone industry in mainland China slows down," said Lei Jun, Xiaomi founder and chief executive, in a blog post.

The company strikingly avoided releasing details regarding its profitability, but reportedly has a $46 billion valuation and

The Xiaomi Mi4S Surfaces Again With Ridiculously Thin Bezels In Leaked Poster

With Samsung leaks picking up the pace alongside the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, there’s no reason to forget China’s rising smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi. Xiaomi made the headlines last year with the launch of its Xiaomi Mi 4, a device that was elegantly designed despite being modestly priced. Well looks like the Chinese manufacturer already has a successor for the Mi 4 in the works, with a poster allegedly showing the next Xiaomi flagship, the Xiaomi Mi4S having popped up today. We’ve already shown you a previous alleged spotting of the Mi4S (http://wccftech.com/xiaomi-mi5-mi4s-reality-photo-leak-suggests/) and today’s device ends up looking quite similar to the one shown earlier.

<ins data-adsbygoogle-status="done" class="adsbygoogle" style="display:inline-block;width:336px;height:280px" data-ad-client="ca-pub-5257724448514074" data-ad-slot="4225663910"><ins id="aswift_0_expand" style="display:inline-table;border:none;height:280px;margin:0;padding:0; position:relative;visibility:visible;width:336px;b ackground-color:transparent"><ins id="aswift_0_anchor" style="display:block;border:none;height:280px;margin:0;pa dding:0;position:relative;visibility:visible;width :336px;background-color:transparent"></ins></ins></ins> http://cdn3.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/4444s.png (http://cdn3.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/4444s.png)Alleged Xiaomi Mi4S Poster Shows Remarkable Device With Thin Bezels. Looks like Xiaomi’s Mi4S has made another (http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/01/03/new-xiaomi-mi4s-poster-leaks-again/) appearance online, this time in the form of a poster detailing the device. While our Chinese isn’t that good, so we wont be able to tell you what the poster above says, but we can definitely take a look at what appears to be another elegantly designed device from the Chinese manufacturer. Looks like Xiaomi has gotten a feature that most manufacturers are struggling with, right on its next device.
As you can see above, the device comes with remarkably thin bezels which end up lending it a more futuristic look. If the image above is accurate, then Xiaomi might have a winner on its hand.

Xiaomi Mi5 Gets Listed Online With $599 Price Tag And Snapdragon 805

Things seem to be moving pretty fast in a lot of areas when it comes to mobile devices in 2015. One of these involves the Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi who rose to fame last year with the launch of its Xiaomi Mi 4 smartphone, which was a device elegantly designed yet not too heavy on the pocket. Xiaomi is already preparing for a successor to the Mi 4 however and the device will be with us pretty soon. Only yesterday the Xiaomi Mi4S (http://wccftech.com/xiaomi-mi4s-appears-ridiculously-thin-bezels-leaked-poster/) surfaced in an poster which showed the device with some pretty impressive bezels. Today we have more to add on to that, as the Mi4S has been listed by an online retailer.

<ins data-adsbygoogle-status="done" class="adsbygoogle" style="display:inline-block;width:336px;height:280px" data-ad-client="ca-pub-5257724448514074" data-ad-slot="4225663910"><ins id="aswift_0_expand" style="display:inline-table;border:none;height:280px;margin:0;padding:0; position:relative;visibility:visible;width:336px;b ackground-color:transparent"><ins id="aswift_0_anchor" style="display:block;border:none;height:280px;margin:0;pa dding:0;position:relative;visibility:visible;width :336px;background-color:transparent"></ins></ins></ins> http://cdn2.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/mi5-635x310.png (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/mi5.png)Next Xiaomi Flagship Gets Listed On Online Retailer – Xiaomi Mi5 (4S?) Coming With Snapdragon 805 On Board. Online retailer oppomart (http://www.oppomart.com/phones/xiaomi-mi5.html) has listed the next Xiaomi flagship on its website. Being dubbed as the Xiaomi Mi5, the device is listed with a Snapdragon 805 on board. The Xiaomi Mi5 using the Snapdragon 805 is all the more believable now since the device can be expected to be launched by the manufacturer on January 15th. Qualcomm’s latest, the Snapdragon 810 is facing production delays reportedly and the SoC won’t be available for mass production this month. The device also has a price tag of $599, which should be less when the device is sold directly by the manufacturer.
Other specifications for the Xiaomi Mi5 listed online include a 5.7 inch QHD screen with a resolution of 2560 x 1440. This will be supplemented by a 16 MP rear camera and a more impressive 8 MP front camera. The Xiaomi Mi5 will also include support for 4G LTE-Fdd bands. The device is listed with an impressive 3600 mAh battery, that should ensure that the QHD screen does not prove to be that much of a burden. RAM for the Xiaomi Mi5 is equally satisfying, with the device having been listed with 3GB of RAM on board.Internal storage will be 16 and 32 GB for the Xiaomi Mi5. It will also come running Android 5.0 based on Xiaomi’s own MIUI based operating system.

Massive Leak Pegs Xiaomi Mi5 To Be One Of The World’s Thinnest Smartphones

Smartphone starlet Xiaomi has been a cause of considerable hype in the smartphone world. Having become one of the world’s top five smartphone manufacturers last year, Xiaomi impressed us last year with its Xiaomi Mi4 with its elegant design. The company was not going to rest however it seemed, as news began to surface about the Mi4’s successor, now being dubbed as the Xiaomi Mi5 (http://wccftech.com/xiaomimi5-features-massive-leak-posted-pictures/wccftech.com/xiaomi-mi4s-appears-ridiculously-thin-bezels-leaked-poster/). Just four days back, the device was listed on an online retailer, that showed the Xiaomi Mi5 (http://wccftech.com/xiaomi-mi5-posted-online-snapdragon-805/) with some reasonable specifications on board, with a price of $599. Well, the french site NWE is back today, this time with some serious leaks showing an industrial sketch, aluminum frame and the Xiaomi Mi5’s silicon case.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/Dimensions-Xiaomi-Mi5-635x358.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/Dimensions-Xiaomi-Mi5.jpg)New Leaked Schematics Show Stunningly Thin Xiaomi Mi5 NWE’s Steve (http://www.nowhereelse.fr/xiaomi-mi5-date-lancement-dimensions-coque-103891/) has managed to get on some rather diverse details about the Xiaomi Mi5 (http://wccftech.com/xiaomimi5-features-massive-leak-posted-pictures/wccftech.com/xiaomi-mi5-mi4s-reality-photo-leak-suggests/) today. These start with an industrial sketch of the device, which can be seen in the image above. Whats stunning about this sketch are the dimensions listed on the top right, if you’ll take a real close look at the image above. The Xiaomi Mi5 (http://wccftech.com/xiaomimi5-features-massive-leak-posted-pictures/wccftech.com/xiaomi-mi-4-camera-samples/) will be a mere 5.1 mm thick, which puts it right in the same league as some of the thinnest smartphones in the world today. Exact dimensions of the Xiaomi Mi5 are going to be 140.89×71.4×5.1 mm. In addition to the industrial sketch, looks the Xiaomi Mi5 will also come with an amazingly thing aluminum body, that can be seen in the image below.

But that doesn’t quite finish our today’s post about the Xiaomi Mi5. Some alleged cases which will protect the device have also been spotted, and while we might disagree with the color choices here, you can take a look at them below nevertheless. So does Xiaomi have a winner on its hands with the Xiaomi Mi5? Let us know what you think in the comments section.

Impressive Looking Purported Xiaomi Mi5 Camera Samples Surface

The Xiaomi Mi5 has become one the most hyped about devices over the past couple of days. The smartphone, expected to be launched by Xiaomi on January 15th has seen several rumors and leaks related to it surface over the past couple days. The latest of these include blueprints and actual images of the Xiaomi Mi5 (http://wccftech.com/xiaomi-mi5-camera-samples/wccftech.com/latest-xiaomi-mi5-leak-shows-impressive-razor-thin-metal-frame/)‘s metal frame that put the device to be one of the thinnest around with a width of only 5.1mms. The Xiaomi Mi5 (http://wccftech.com/xiaomi-mi5-posted-online-snapdragon-805/) has already been listed online with a price tag of $599. But its not the technical specifications of the Xiaomi Mi5 (http://wccftech.com/xiaomi-mi5-camera-samples/wccftech.com/xiaomimi5-features-massive-leak-posted-pictures/) that we’re going to tell you about today. Rather, a couple of images have popped up that claim to be camera samples of the upcoming device.

Facebook reportedly approached to invest in Xiaomi smartphone maker

Smartphone maker Xiaomi reportedly met with No. 1 social networking site Facebook about potential investment opportunities in late 2014. It appears a deal between Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun didn't happen, but reveals how serious Xiaomi is to expand into the United States and other lucrative western markets.

http://imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/4/2/42746_01_facebook-reportedly-approached-invest-xiaomi-smartphone-maker.jpg (http://www.tweaktown.com/image.php?image=imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/4/2/42746_01_facebook-reportedly-approached-invest-xiaomi-smartphone-maker_full.jpg)

Xiaomi, the No. 3 smartphone manufacturer in the world, and Facebook showed initial interest - but political and commercial roadblocks would have occurred, as Facebook is banned inside of China. Since the deal couldn't be put together, Xiaomi collected $1.1 billion from Chinese investors - and the company's valuation is now estimated at $45 billion.

"Facebook wants to get into China, and Xiaomi is keen to expand outside, so they both recognize the importance of working together," an unnamed source told Reuters.

The Xiaomi Mi5 Or 4S? Leaked Specifications Cast Serious Doubt Over Device

Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship, which is being dubbed as the Xiaomi Mi5 (http://wccftech.com/xiaomi-mi5-4s-leaked-specifications-cast-doubt-device/wccftech.com/xiaomimi5-features-massive-leak-posted-pictures/) has been the center of media speculation these days. The Chinese smartphone maker that has risen in ranking over the couple of years is widely expected to launch the Mi5 in two days at its official event. By the looks of things so far, the next Xiaomi flagship will be quite a reasonable device indeed, with either a Snapdragon 810 or 805 on board, combined with a rumored QHD display or the rather more modest Full HD one. Perhaps the msot hyped up feature of the device is its thickness, with several alleged blueprints of the device showing its metal frame to have a thickness of only 5.1 mm.
http://cdn3.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/5a4cf50e992175c5.jpg (http://cdn3.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/5a4cf50e992175c5.jpg)Xiaomi Mi5 (4S?) Features In Massive Leak Detailing Minor Changes On Board Several images (http://wccftech.com/xiaomi-mi5-4s-leaked-specifications-cast-doubt-device/mobile.it168.com/a2015/0113/1698/000001698187.shtml) have popped up today on China’s Weibo that claim to show Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship running Antutu. Whats interesting here is, that if the leak does turn out to be true, then by the looks of things, the Xiaomi Mi5 (http://wccftech.com/xiaomi-mi5-camera-samples/) will be a minor upgrade over the company’s previous Mi4. As you can see in the image, the Xiaomi Mi5 (http://wccftech.com/latest-xiaomi-mi5-leak-shows-impressive-razor-thin-metal-frame/) is shown running Qualcomm’s 32 bit Snapdragon 801 with the Krait 400 on board. In an increasing 64 bit mobile world, Xiaomi’s decision to choose to stick with 32 bit could prove to not be in the company’s favor in the long run.

<ins data-adsbygoogle-status="done" class="adsbygoogle" style="display:inline-block;width:336px;height:280px" data-ad-client="ca-pub-5257724448514074" data-ad-slot="4225663910"><ins id="aswift_0_expand" style="display:inline-table;border:none;height:280px;margin:0;padding:0; position:relative;visibility:visible;width:336px;b ackground-color:transparent"><ins id="aswift_0_anchor" style="display:block;border:none;height:280px;margin:0;pa dding:0;position:relative;visibility:visible;width :336px;background-color:transparent"></ins></ins></ins>

Device’s such as Samsung’s Galaxy S5, HTC’s One M8 and other all stand below the Mi5’s alleged Antutu scores. Coming to the overall design of the device, the rear of the phone reveals a plastic back with dual LED flash for the rear camera.
http://cdn4.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/c1d25e7ab135a373.jpg (http://cdn4.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/c1d25e7ab135a373.jpg)Xiaomi choosing plastic for its upcoming flagship would be another disappointment, since plastic is another feature that is on its way out when it comes to the smartphone flagship world. Judging by the incremental upgrades featured in the images above, our best guess is that either the credibility of these images isn’t that strong or the device above is actually the Xiaomi Mi4s, not the Xiaomi Mi5 (http://wccftech.com/xiaomi-mi5-4s-leaked-specifications-cast-doubt-device/wccftech.com/xiaomi-mi5-mi4s-reality-photo-leak-suggests/) as is being dubbed these days. Xiaomi Teases Super-Thin Smartphone

http://media.bestofmicro.com/O/8/473912/original/xiaomi-teaser.jpg
According to a pair of not-so-subtle teases, Xiaomi will launch a new flagship smartphone on Jan. 15. One of those announcements implied this Chinese-made device could launch in two variations and be its thinnest smartphone yet.
Leaving little to the imagination, Xiaomi's two teasers read "As ___ as paper" and "___ is better than one." This suggests that Xiaomi's next phone, rumored to be called the Mi 5 or Mi 4s, could arrive in two ultra-slim flavors.
MORE: Xiaomi FAQ: What You Need to Know Before You Buy (http://www.tomsguide.com/us/xiaomi-faq,news-20083.html)
Xiaomi's advertisements add weight to existing Mi 5 or 4s rumors, including one that suggests that the phone will be a stunning 5.1-millimeters thin (by comparison, the iPhone 6 is 6.9-millimeters thin). The upcoming handset is expected to pack a 5.2-inch, 2560 x 1440-pixel display, a 16-MP to 20-MP rear camera, and an 8-MP front camera for sharp selfies.
The new phone is rumored to be powered by either a Snapdragon 805 or Snapdragon 810 processor, the former of which would allow the device to remain at the low price Xiaomi is known for.
Xiaomi has been making waves in the smartphone space as of late, partly because the $45 billion company has risen up to become one of the most valuable smartphone brands in the world. The China-based company is known for making affordable Android phones, which tout Xiaomi's slick, iOS-like MIUI interface.
News of Xiaomi's next phone will be made official during the company's Jan. 15 event at 1AM Eastern Time, so stay tuned for announcements straight from the source.

Leaked Xiaomi Poster Suggests Snapdragon 810 On The Xiaomi Mi5

The hype these days has been centered around Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi. The company is widely expected to launch its next flagship, the Xiaomi Mi5 (http://wccftech.com/mi-5-snapdragon-810-leaked-poster-suggest/wccftech.com/xiaomi-mi5-4s-leaked-specifications-cast-doubt-device/) tomorrow. Specifications on the Xiaomi Mi5 (http://wccftech.com/mi-5-snapdragon-810-leaked-poster-suggest/wccftech.com/xiaomi-mi5-camera-samples/) have been mixed so far. While some sources have been claiming that the Mi5 will be coming with Qualcomm’s latest, Snapdragon 810 on board, others, more recent ones suggest that Xiaomi might be aiming for the Snapdragon 805 or even the 801 for the Mi5, making it an incremental upgrade over its previous device. Well, you can add more speculation to that, as we’ve received a poster today that shows Xiaomi’s plans to launch two devices tomorrow, one of which will be featuring a Snapdragon 810.

http://cdn2.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/Xiaomi-qualcomm.jpg (http://cdn2.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/Xiaomi-qualcomm.jpg)
Xiaomi Mi5 coming With Snapdragon 810 After All? Leaked Poster Suggests So

If we’re to believe an alleged Xiaomi poster leaked by Leakfly on twitter, then the next Xiaomi flagship might as well be coming with the snapdragon 801 on board. Xiaomi’s latest teaser image also shows two devices, so a Xiaomi flagship tomorrow is almost confirmed at this stage. The poster also puts a date for a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 debut even in China on January 23rd.
Xiaomi choosing to equip its latest flagship with the Snapdragon 810 would be great news indeed and would undoubtedly further solidify the smartphone manufacturer’s standing in the mobile industry. Add that to a reasonable price tag and good camera/display quality and Xiaomi could very well be looking at a winner on its hands. So far the Xiaomi Mi5 (http://wccftech.com/mi-5-snapdragon-810-leaked-poster-suggest/wccftech.com/latest-xiaomi-mi5-leak-shows-impressive-razor-thin-metal-frame/) is rumored to come with a Snapdragon 805/810 on board, with 3 GB of RAM and a 13 MP rear camera. By the looks of things, the device is also going to get a 5.1 mm thin metal frame (http://wccftech.com/mi-5-snapdragon-810-leaked-poster-suggest/wccftech.com/xiaomimi5-features-massive-leak-posted-pictures/), that will effectively place it among the thinnest devices out there. So all on eyes on Xiaomi tomorrow, when we’ll finally be able to know what the company has in store for us. Meanwhile, let us know what yu think in the comments section.

Since its founding five years ago, Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi has rapidly risen from obscurity to become one of the world’s largest mobile device vendors today. Last year, it overtook Samsung in its home market, becoming China’s number one smartphone vendor.

Xiaomi could be worth $100 billion, a billionaire investor claims

Xiaomi's estimated valuation could reach $100 billion due to increased interest from potential investors, according to billionaire investor Yuri Milner. The Chinese smartphone maker has seen a continued rise of its low-cost smartphones and tablets, while expanding in select markets outside of China.

"I was attracted by the size of the opportunity ahead of them," said Yuri Milner, a billionaire investor, in an interview with Bloomberg. "I don't think there's any company that has reached $1 billion in revenue as fast as Xiaomi. In every conceivable benchmark, it's almost unprecedented in terms of its speed of growth."

Xiaomi wants to become the first major global consumer brand from China, and while the company avoids the United States, will develop its business in China, Brazil, and other select nations.

Xiaomi's growth continues to pressure other smartphone vendors

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has taken the Chinese smartphone market by storm, quickly punting Samsung out the door - and putting global pressure on Apple, Samsung, and others. The company sold 61 million devices worldwide in 2014, tripling its overall sales figure year-over-year - and provides a high quality phone at an affordable price.

"The trend over the last couple of years has been for local vendors, plus Samsung, to dominate the market and make it hard for others," said Chris Jones, principal mobile analyst of the Canalys research firm, in a statement to the Los Angeles Times. "They've been driving down the prices of smartphones and driving up the screen sizes and quality."

Xiaomi remains focused on its home market of China, in addition to India and several other select markets, and isn't focused on trying to expand into the United States just yet. The Chinese company wants to build a stronghold in China, India, Brazil, and select other regions before trying to migrate into the United States and select western markets.

Xiaomi to enter US market later this year with online store

http://www.techspot.com/images2/news/bigimage/2015-02-12-image-18.jpgChinese mobile device and accessory maker Xiaomi is planning to enter (http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/02/12/xiaomi-usa-idUSL1N0VM38920150212) the US market. The red-hot startup (http://www.techspot.com/news/59418-xiaomi-challenges-iphone-6-plus-note-4-phablet.html) will launch an online store stateside in the coming months although many of the products that earned the company recognition – and the title of China’s largest (http://www.techspot.com/news/59160-world-third-largest-smartphone-maker-xiaomi-made-56.html) smartphone company – won’t be in the lineup.
Xiaomi’s US store will initially sell smartphone and tablet accessories, earphones, smartbands and the like. The company’s coveted smartphones and tablets on which its success was built won’t be offered when the store launches for a couple of different reasons.
The smartphone landscape in the US is quite different than it is in China. Carrier subsidies and sales would all but eliminate Xiaomi’s cost structure. The company would also need time to modify their MIUI Android-based operating system for individual markets.
Former Google executive Hugo Barra (http://www.techspot.com/news/53817-android-executive-hugo-barra-leaving-google-for-chinese-smartphone-maker-xiaomi.html), who now serves as the vice president for international markets at Xiaomi, explained that the company would need to obtain various certifications before it could sell handsets in the US. What’s more, they’d need to set up customer support lines and because of the carrier-dominated landscape, Xiaomi would need to strike up deals in order to be competitive.
Xiaomi finished 2014 as the world’s most valuable tech startup (http://www.techspot.com/news/59262-xiaomi-now-world-most-valuable-tech-startup.html) with a valuation of $45 billion after raising $1.1 billion in funding, topping Uber’s $41 billion valuation on $1.2 billion in funding.

IDC: Xiaomi took over as smartphone leader in China

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi now controls 12.5 percent of its home market, ahead of Samsung's 12.1 percent share, according to the IDC research group. Xiaomi has seen smartphone sales increase 227 percent year-over-year, selling more than 61 million units in 2014.

image: http://imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/4/3/43594_01_idc-xiaomi-took-over-smartphone-leader-china.jpg (http://www.tweaktown.com/image.php?image=imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/4/3/43594_01_idc-xiaomi-took-over-smartphone-leader-china_full.jpg)
http://imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/4/3/43594_01_idc-xiaomi-took-over-smartphone-leader-china.jpg

However, Xiaomi continues to grow, while Samsung actually lost more than six percent in the competitive Chinese market - and analysts want to see how much higher Xiaomi can climb.

During Q4 of 2014, there were 107.5 million smartphones shipped to Chinese consumers, a 2 percent quarter-on-quarter growth, according to IDC.

Apple, Samsung, and other foreign manufacturers see China as an appealing market with a growing number of smartphone owners. Trying to compete against Xiaomi, which is packing hardware in more affordable product offerings, however, will prove to be extremely difficult.

Xiaomi launches Mi store in Europe

http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/b1c39534a75078d3b92a36485caad170_L.jpg (http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/b1c39534a75078d3b92a36485caad170_XL.jpg)

But no phones
Xiaomi has confirmed plans to launch a Mi store in Europe, although it won’t be flogging phones yet.

Instead, the Chinese electronics company wants to use the digital outlet to sell smartphone accessories on the continent. Xiaomi recently confirmed it would be opening such a store in the US as its flagship western outlet, but added Europe will see the same thing.
Hugo Barra, Xiaomi’s global VP, said that Europe will get a different Mi.com experience from what Asian consumers have because Xiaomi is not selling phones.
It is only going to sell a small number of our hero accessories, things like the Mi Band, studio-grade headphones, in-ear headphones, and power banks.
This is because it sees itself as a lifestyle brand, he said – what ever that means.
The company’s mobile market share has risen drastically in the past year, primarily in its home market of China and it is apparently interested in global expansion as a result, although a complete roll out of its smartphones and tablets to the west has not yet begun.
India is Xiaomi’s largest overseas market, which means the firm has a strong foothold in the world's two highest population countries.
Barra the company would love to be in the US, but that’s nowhere near the top of its priority for now.
What mostly surprised us is the price as, despite being bundled with the Shield Controller, Nvidia is asking US $199 for its Shield Console and is definitely looking to get into every living room in the world.

Xiaomi Looking To Introduce The E4 – A 2 GB RAM Smartphone; Mi 4’s Price Expected To Drop

Xiaomi’s popularity has allowed the firm to achieve the title ‘Apple of China’ due to its penchant of releasing mobile products that are similar to Apple’s iOS products in terms of aesthetics. In addition, the firm’s aggressive pricing strategy and diversified portfolio of smartphones has allowed it to quickly climb up the ladder of the mobile industry, putting the global market share of Apple and Samsung in jeopardy. Now, the Chinese tech sensation is looking to bridge the performance gap of its Mi 4 with the release of the E4, a smartphone that possesses 2 GB of RAM, and maintains all the remainder of the hardware specifications present in the Mi 4.
http://cdn2.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/xiaomi_e4.jpg (http://cdn2.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/xiaomi_e4.jpg)
Xiaomi’s E4 expected to bridge the price/performance gap According to Gizmochina (http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/03/20/1799-yuan-289-xiaomi-mi4-2gb-edition-spotted/), the handset passed the certification process of TENAA. The website states that the smartphone will carry a price tag of $289 and the only difference separating the E4 and the Mi 4 will be that the former will possess 1 GB of RAM less than Xiaomi’s previous flagship offering. In that pricing range, the E4 is going to create havoc for a ton of companies, regardless if it possesses a previous generation chipset. If the E4 does get managed to be released sporting the aforementioned price tag, then it will compel Xiaomi to reduce the price tag of the Mi 4, significantly increasing its market in the process.
The upcoming handset is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 801 SoC, which features a quad-core Krait processor clocked in at 2.5 GHz. In addition, the handset will also be equipped with an Adreno 330 GPU to provide fluid gaming. Providing the E4 with sufficient amounts of battery life will be a 3,080 mAh battery and all of the content will be viewed on a 5 inch frame that will be rendering the 1080p resolution. The disappointing thing about the device is that since it possesses hardware specifications similar to the Mi 4, it will be void of an expansion slot and thus, will be shipped in the 16 and 64 GB variants.
For image capturing and video recording purposes, the E4 will most likely feature a 13 megapixel rear camera sensor and a 5 megapixel front shooter. Currently, it has not been confirmed when the smartphone is expected to arrive but it is possible that the Chinese tech firm will be looking to release it during Q3, 2015 since that is the time that Xiaomi’s competitor, OnePlus will be launching the successor of the OnePlus One, the OnePlus Two.

Apart from this, Xiaomi is also being rumored to release a handset that will feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 SoC, the Mi Note Plus. It appears that majority of the tech firms are going to have their hands full if Xiaomi does carry out its plan to fruition.

Xiaomi’s Upcoming Entry Level Device Expected To Carry A $65 Price Tag

Following Microsoft’s announcement of releasing a $70 Windows Phone called the Lumia 430 in the near future, Xiaomi is also looking to target the entry level smartphone markets with an upcoming device that is expected to carry a price tag of just $65. Xiaomi’s Redmi 2, which is currently retailing for $110, was believed to be the tech firm’s offering that would cater effectively to such markets, but it appears that Xiaomi is currently in the midst of announcing the king of entry level devices.
http://cdn3.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/asdasdasdasdsad.png (http://cdn3.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/asdasdasdasdsad.png)
Upcoming Xiaomi Smartphone Will Possess Hardware Specs Similar To The Redmi 2 While the handset’s model number has not been leaked, a source (http://news.mydrivers.com/1/403/403772.htm) has revealed a leaked image as well as the product’s hardware specifications. The smartphone will possess a 4.7 inch display that will be coming with a 720p display resolution. Furthermore, the device will be equipped with 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of on-board storage (currently, there is no word if the new smartphone will present an option for expanding storage, but seeing as how its internal memory is very limited, Xiaomi might be compelled to incorporate such a feature).

The unnamed smartphone will also provide an 8 MP / 2MP camera combo but unfortunately, consumers will not be able to experience Google’s latest operating system on the budget handset. This is because the rumor suggests that the stock mobile operating system of the phone will be Google’s KitKat 4.4.4 update. One primary difference separating the Redmi 2 and the upcoming smartphone will be that this one will not be assimilated with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 410 SoC. While the processor will be compatible with the 64 bit architecture, the device will be shipped out carrying the LC1860C SoC.
The aforementioned chip is a product belonging to Leadcore Technology, which happens to be one of the largest Chinese firms that specializes in the manufacturing and distributing of application processors. While the reported price of the handset is CNY399 price (or $65), necessary campaigns and additional duty fee will spike the overall price of the smartphone. However, if it is still able to possess a price tag that is less than what the Redmi 2 offers, then there is no question that the handset will sell like hot cakes.
While the $65 price tag of the smartphone is downright impressive, Xiaomi is expected to treat its loyal consumers with the E4 (http://wccftech.com/xiaomi-introduce-e4-2-gb-ram-smartphone-mi-4s-price-expected-reduce/). The E4 is rumored to possess a price tag of $289, and the only difference between the handset and the Mi 4 will be that the former will possess 2 GB of RAM while Xiaomi’s previous flagship smartphone is available for $320 (for the 16 GB variant) and features 3 GB of memory.

Xiaomi Redmi 2A takes on Moto E

http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/7954585530d5d7c06fb272f1d4c1c388_L.jpg (http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/7954585530d5d7c06fb272f1d4c1c388_XL.jpg)

$99, quad-core SoC, 1GB RAM
Xiaomi’s recently released Redmi 2 smartphone is designed to take on the Moto G, but the new Redmi 2A variant is a $99 design that puts the Moto E to shame.

The humble Redmi 2A features the same colourful design, but somewhat cheaper components, like the 1.5GHz Leadcore L1860C SoC, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, 8-megapixel camera, 2200mAh battery and a 4.7-inch 720p screen. Aside from the somewhat less potent processor, the spec is almost on a par with the original Redmi 2, so you’re really not missing out on much. The obvious candidate for a direct comparison would be the Moto E, Huawei Honor Holly or Sony Experia E4 (just barely).
The Redmi 2A ends up marginally cheaper than most of them, while at the same time boasting somewhat better specs than the Moto E. We also feel it looks a bit better than the chubby Moto E.
Oh, and on April 8 Xiaomi will be dropping the price to just 499 RMB, or roughly $80. What’s the occasion? The company is celebrating its fifth anniversary, and we have to say it’s come a long way in those five years.

Xiaomi loses millions to counterfeits

http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/1b96f855f4042436e99eb6e7521e45ea_L.jpg (http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/1b96f855f4042436e99eb6e7521e45ea_XL.jpg)

The price of being China’s Apple
Chinese smartphone giant Xiaomi is complaining about the ever-growing number of faked products.

The company recently marked its fifth anniversary, but it’s already so big that it’s attracting a lot of counterfeiters. More specifically, people are copying its Mi Power Bank, which was introduced last year.
Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun said the counterfeits had a big impact on powerbank sales, which have missed the company’s sales target by more than a half, reports Bloomberg (http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-04-09/xiaomi-confronts-counterfeits-as-fake-products-eat-into-sales). Xiaomi shipped 14.6 million powerbanks, but it was planning to sell twice as much, or more.
“If there were no counterfeits, our sales would be double or triple. The product has been recognized by everyone,” he told reporters at a press conference in Beijing.
Xiaomi is planning to bring its accessories to western markets this year. In addition to powerbanks, Xiaomi is marketing everything from smart extension cords, to fancy routers and wireless speakers (which we recently reviewed (http://www.fudzilla.com/reviews/37327-xiaomi-wireless-bluetooth-speaker-reviewed) and found very good).
The company’s core business is phones, routers and smart TVs. The accessories are manufactured by a number of small startups, backed by Xiaomi.

Xiaomi Mi 4i Is Slim, Colorful and Just $200

http://media.bestofmicro.com/1/3/492519/original/XiaomiMi4i.JPGXiaomi's new Mi 4i smartphone is officially a real phone, and it's looking pretty snazzy. Launching this month for roughly $205 unlocked, the super-affordable Mi 4i packs a 64-bit processor and a 13-MP camera into its slim and colorful body.
While the Mi 4i serves as a more wallet-friendly little sibling to the company's Mi 4 flagship, its design and specs are still compelling on their own. Xiaomi seems to have taken some inspiration from the iPhone 5c's vibrant color options. The 7.8-millimeter-thin Mi 4i comes in pink, baby blue and yellow, in addition to white and black. The handset is covered in a matte, anti-grease coating for better grip and fewer fingerprints.

Xiaomi Mi 4i

On the inside, the Mi 4i is powered by a 64-bit, octa-core Snapdragon 615 CPU with 2GB of RAM, and touts an Adreno 405 GPU for intensive mobile gaming. The phone's 5-inch, 1080p display promises a 95-percent color gamut. Its 3,120-mAh battery is built to provide 11 hours of HD playback, and a whopping 59 hours of music playback.
The Mi 4i utilizes a 13-MP Sony/Samsung camera for photos, complete with two-tone flash for natural colors in low light. There's also a 5-MP selfie cam that offers a tool called Beautify, which offers 36 profiles for sprucing up your photos. The new handset runs Xiaomi's MIUI software, which adds a slick, iOS-inspired layer of gloss over the phone's Android 5 Lollipop backbone.
The Mi 4i is shaping up to be one of Xiaomi's most attractive and affordable handsets yet, and could resonate with smartphone shoppers who want powerful Android device dressed-up as an iPhone. The handset launches April 30 in India, though there's no word yet on global availability.

Xiaomi Tackles the Battery of Smartphones Head-on

http://cdn.eteknix.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Xiaomi-Mi-4i-launch-in-India-photo-3.jpg
Xiaomi is renowned for producing cheap technology. Hailing from China, the firm produces some amazing pieces while keeping a close eye on cost and functionality. In this case, Xiaomi have produced what could be claimed as an iPhone 5c clone, but better.
The Mi 4i hosts a 5″ 1080p LCD screen, an octo-core 64-bit Snapdragon 615, 2GB RAM, 16GB storage, 13MP rear-facing camera, 5MP front-facing camera, dual SIM support and a massive 3,120mAh battery; oh wait, it also costs just $205 (Rs. 12,999).
Most of the tech giants seem to be fixated on offering the latest designs, Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge for example, or the slimmest designs and leave the battery to the very end; only fitting in what will fit over what it needs to run for a useful period of time. Take a look at the Samsung Galaxy S6, massive specification list, but a mere 2550mAh battery, seeing a little over 8 hours of conservative usage, but a step backwards from the Galaxy S5 with its beefier 2800mAh battery.
Xiaomi stated it “put considerable effort into fitting the highest battery capacity possible”, which is something all companies should aim to do early on. It measures in at a reasonable 7.8mm, not too far off the iPhone 6 7mm.
On the construction side of things, we are informed that it uses a plastic, wrap around case, but with a matt, soft-touch finish; cheap and cheerful for a $200 phone. The place where most manufacturers seem to claw the money back is on the screen, using cheap materials to get 1080p or lowering the quality to 720p. The Mi 4i seems to debunk the trend and use a reasonable 1080p sharp screen protected by Gorilla Glass.
Operation is powered by a custom skin of Android operating system, but unlike older devices, the Mi 4i uses Androids latest version 5.0 with a Xaiomi custom skin.
The phone will release in India at the end of April. Would you be interested in buying the Mi 4i or are you loyal to a certain phone brand? Let us know in the comments.

Xiaomi’s VP On Why ‘The Company Does Not Add microSD Slots In High-End Phones’

These days, when we set our eyes on a flagship smartphone, having powerful hardware specifications only go so far in satisfying the mobile computing experience. When you are paying a premium price for a high-end smartphone, we should be getting flexible features along with it, such as an SD card slot. Unfortunately, Xiaomi’s Vice President Hugo Barra is of the completely opposite opinion. For those who loyally follow the flagship offerings that the company rolls out, the absence of an expansion slot does present a lot of encumbrance for us users. Hugo Barra has a justifiable explanation (or we would like to think so) as to why Xiaomi adamantly follows this approach without fail.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/Xiaomi-Mi-4i-Hugo-Barra-f-635x364.jpg (http://cdn2.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/Xiaomi-Mi-4i-Hugo-Barra-f.jpg)
Lots Of Features Of Xiaomi’s High-End Smartphones Get Compromised If A Smartphone Gets Incorporated With A Storage Expansion Slot Huge Barra states that:

“For high performance devices, we are fundamentally against an SD card slot.”
His justification as to why Xiaomi does not incorporate a microSD slot is because it will severely compromise the following features of the high-end handset:

Battery capacity
Ergonomics
Appearance
Second microSIM slot (if there is one present)

While microSD cards present storage expansion flexibility, Barra points out one little flaw that prevents the rising Chinese smartphone firm from placing them in to powerful handsets.

“microSD cards are incredibly prone to failure and malfunctioning of various different sorts, and the fact that there are a lot of fake cards out there and we’ve seen it ourselves doesn’t help, either. You think you’re buying like a Kingston or a SanDisk but you’re actually not, and they’re extremely poor quality, they’re slow, they sometimes just stop working, and it gives people huge number of issues, apps crashing all the time, users losing data, a lot of basically complaints and customer frustration. It’s gonna be a while before you finally accept that maybe the reason why it’s not performing is because you put in an SD card, right? You’re gonna blame the phone, you’re gonna blame the manufacturer, you’re gonna shout and scream and try to get it fixed, so many different ways until you say, Actually, let me just take the SD card out and see what happens.”

http://cdn4.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/asdsadsadadasd.png (http://cdn4.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/asdsadsadadasd.png)
According to Barra, microSD slots will stop being present in high-end smartphones in the near future. We do not understand how this is possible, seeing as how it is by far the most convenient way to upgrade your storage. However, when you actually think about it, even Google’s Nexus lineup of devices are void of the same feature. Perhaps it is because Google and Xiaomi are on the same page and they want to improve the overall smartphone experience for thousands of users. Or maybe, both firms are trying to save additional costs.
Xiaomi has also made its high-end devices’ batteries non-removable. The primary reason as to why Xiaomi does this is because of increasing demand in portable batteries or power banks. Xiaomi has become a popular brand, not just for its aggressively priced smartphones, but also for its power banks (The 16,000 mAh model only retails for $18 and is made of top-notch components). On a side note, Xiaomi’s lesser performing smartphones do possess a microSD slot, but it is added in those that feature a modicum amount of on-board memory, such as 8 GB models.

At the end of the day, it is disappointing to see that one of the largest smartphone makers in the world are not even considering the option of adding an SD card slot in their flagship devices. While their absence present a boatload of inconvenience, there are other ways of expanding storage, such as OTG cables or OTG flash drives.

COMPLETE 2015 Product Roadmap For Xiaomi And Huawei Features In Apparent Leak

When it comes to leaks, there’s not a single manufacturer out there that has been spared over recent times. From Apple to Samsung, we’ve seen devices leak out in entirety before launch, leaving little to guess and building up a little bit of hype as well. But complete roadmap leaks are rare in the mobile world and today we’ve managed to lay our hands on complete roadmap leaks for 2015 of both Xiaomi and Huawei, who have been rising slowly, but steadily in the mobile world.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/Xiaomi-Huawei-2015-roadmap.png (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/Xiaomi-Huawei-2015-roadmap.png) Xiaomi And Huawei See Upcoming Device Roadmap Leak In Entirety Featuring Snapdragon 810 And Kirin SoCs Starting from Xiaomi, seems like the manufacturers has some steady device plans (http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/05/07/xiaomis-product-roadmap-for-2015-leaked-reveals-four-new-devices-including-xiaomi-mi5/) for this year. While we got to see the Mi Note Pro launched yesterday, with the Snapdragon 810 (http://wccftech.com/xiaomi-snadragon-810-benches-mi-note-pro-show-good/), that’s by far only one of the devices that we’d be expecting from the Chinese manufacturer this year. The Mi Note Pro’s launch with the Snapdragon 810 came as a surprise to many, following the processor’s overheating issues that have manged to affect several manufacturers. But alongside the Mi Note Pro came a revamped Snapdragon 810 v2.1 that managed to put devices featuring its earlier versions to shame in Antutu and CFBench.
For those who prefer their smartphones with a smaller screen size, the next Xiaomi device coming will be the Mi 4S, that will also feature the Snapdragon 810. Seems like ties between Xiaomi and Qualcomm run deep, and given that the Mi Note Pro manages to perform without overheating, this could manage to reverse Qualcomm’s ill fate. Aside from the Snapdragon 810, the Mi 4S will also be featuring a 16 MP rear camera with Optical Image Stablization and a 4 MP front camera. Xiaomi’s far from launching flagship devices only this year however. A month later we’ll get to see the Snapdragon 410 and 615 featuring on the Redmi Note 2 and the Redmi Note 2 Pro. Aside from the processors, both the devices will come with a 5.5 inch screen, similar to the Mi Note Pro and will be boasting rear and front camera of 13 and 5 MP respectively. The Note 2 Pro however will also be coming with a FHD display.

http://cdn3.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/snapdragon-820-h1-635x343-635x343.jpg (http://cdn2.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/snapdragon-820-h1-635x343.jpg)
For those wondering about the next iteration in the company’s Mi smartphone lineup, we won’t be getting to see the Xiaomi Mi 5 until the end of this year, i.e. November. The Xiaomi Mi 5 will be coming with the Snapdragon 820 (http://wccftech.com/qualcomm-shows-snapdragon-820-fingerprint-sensor-mwc/), which is expected to be built on Samsung’s 14nm process and will be featuring the company’s custom Kryo cores, the first time for any Snapdragon processor. It’ll also be seeing a slight increasing in screen size from the Mi 4S with a 5.2 Widescreen Quad HD display listed for the device. The rear camera for the device will be getting a significant overhaul with resolution bumped to 20.7 MP, with OIS of course.
http://cdn2.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/Huawei-2015-portfolio-Ascend-D8-P8-Mate8.jpg (http://cdn2.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/Huawei-2015-portfolio-Ascend-D8-P8-Mate8.jpg)
Where does that leave Huawei? The company also has a lot of devices planned for us this year. Out of these, the Mate 8 (http://wccftech.com/huawei-details-performance-kirin-930-cortexa53e-cores-superior-performance/) can be expected to come next month with the company’s home made Kirin 930 (http://wccftech.com/huaweis-kirin-helluva-phone/) on board. It’ll be featuring a 5 inch WQHD display, similar to the Mi5 and a 16MP rear camera with Optical Image Stabilization. Following the Mate 8, we’ll see three Honor (http://wccftech.com/huawei-honor-7-hardware-specifications-leaked/) devices launched with Chipsets ranging from HiSilcon (owned by Huawei), Fujitsu and of course, Huawei. However there’s no saying how accurate today’s information is. After all, we could see some of the devices materialize or none of them. Devices such as the Mi4S and the Mi5 have already surfaced over the past, and it doesn’t take long for schedules to change. Thoughts? Let us know what you think in the comments section.

Xiaomi Recruits Chinese Testers For Android-To-Windows 10 Mobile ROM Upgrade

In mid-March, we first brought you news that Microsoft (http://hothardware.com/tags/microsoft) and Xiaomi (http://hothardware.com/tags/xiaomi) were looking to get Mi 4 (http://hothardware.com/tags/mi-4) smartphone owners the opportunity to leave Android behind and test out the Windows 10 operating system (http://hothardware.com/news/microsoft-to-offer-select-xiaomi-mi-4-owners-opportunity-to-convert-from-android-to-windows-10) for smartphones (now known as Windows 10 Mobile (http://hothardware.com/news/microsoft-details-all-seven-versions-of-highly-anticipated-windows-10-operating-system)).
“This partnership will allow Xiaomi and Microsoft to get direct user feedback and continue to improve the experience for China,” said Microsoft at the time. “Microsoft is thrilled to see Xiaomi embracing Windows 10 and offering this great value to their customers. We’re excited to see the feedback we receive from this audience.”
It looks a though Microsoft and Xiaomi are moving on to the next phase in their relationship, as Xiaomi is now calling for beta testers to try out the new Windows 10 Mobile ROM for Mi 4. Xiaomi has posted a link on its website where prospective testers can put their name down to join the program.

http://hothardware.com/ContentImages/NewsItem/33857/content/small_miu4.jpg

However, there is one huge caveat to what seems to be an awesome opportunity for Xiaomi Mi 4 owners. You have to live in Beijing, China in order to participate in the Windows 10 Mobile (http://hothardware.com/tags/windows-10-mobile) ROM program. This rather specific requirement is stipulated because testers need to be able to travel to Microsoft Research Asia (http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/labs/asia/), which just so happens to be located in Beijing, to “to communicate directly with Microsoft Windows 10 development team of engineers.”
Testers who are selected for the program will not only receive access to the Windows 10 Mobile ROM, but they will also be given special Windows 10 souvenirs and a plaque that honors their participation.
For everyone else that would like to try out Windows 10 Mobile on hardware that was originally designed for Android, there’s always the HTC One M8 for Windows (http://hothardware.com/news/htc-one-m8-for-windows-lumia-640-owners-can-now-access-windows-10-mobile-build-10080).

Xiaomi President Denies Acquisition Over Blackberry

A few days ago, we heard that Xiaomi is all set on the road to acquire Blackberry. The news popped out from a Weibo post by Xiaomi exec who by word said that the company will acquire Blackberry. However, that may not seems to be the case. However, co founder and president of Xiaomi, Bin Lin’s words were translated word to word by G for Games. There was a bit of eeriness in the news and doubtfully the Google Translation did portray the acquisition to be true. While Bin Lin have opposing thoughts over it.
http://cdn4.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/slide-635x379.jpg (http://cdn3.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/slide.jpg)
Bin Lin opposed the acquisition over Blackberry statement by neglecting the facts that rumors are not part of Xiaomi’s game. On the other hand, the original statement concerning a done deal between Xiaomi and Blackberry was revealed from another Weibo user. Hence with all thanks to Xiaomi’s communication, the misinterpretation has been cleared up.
Xiaomi-Blackberry Merger Dismissed With Xiaomi Clearification Since Blackberry still provides a secure medium for communication, its devices are used by the highests of political figures like U.S president, Barack Obama, U.K prime minister David Cameron and others. Xiaomi apart, there were rumors from other parts of the globe in which Huawei was interested in Blackberry whereby officials denied the notion as well.

On another note, it does not quite seems like that governments of North America would allow such a deal to take place. And since Xiaomi’s reputation in the mobile security industry is much more substandard than Huawei’s, government officials may have a hard time accepting a Xiaomi and Blackberry merger.
Many website are coming up with their own sources of what might Mr. Bin Lin mean acquiring Blackberry. It could be in a much more sarcastic or have spoken figurative way which the translation machine has interpreted all mismanaged. Interpretation would have been much more easy if Bin Lin would have passed a certain report for either a confirmation or dismissal of the situation. G for Games has also admitted their misinterpretation of the statement, even though their material is highly accurate. Now that you have a better insight over the matter, comment below and let us know your thoughts over the matter.

Future Xiaomi Redmi Devices Will Feature Homegrown Xiami SoCs

While there were rumors that Xiaomi Mi5 will be powered by the company’s custom core (http://wccftech.com/xiaomi-mi5-coming-november/), another report sprouted up states that the Chinese tech sensation is also intending on incorporating its homegrown chipsets in future Redmi smartphones. Through this approach, the company will be following in the same footsteps as several other smartphone manufacturers; Samsung (Exynos), Apple (Ax series) and Huawei (Kirin) and will be looking to reduce its dependency on other chipset manufacturers in the process.
http://cdn3.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/xiaomiredminote02-635x357.jpg (http://cdn3.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/xiaomiredminote02.jpg)
Xiaomi Expected To Partner With Local Semiconductor Maker Leadcore For The Company’s Custom Chipsets According to Kevin Wang (http://weibo.com/p/1005051858261594/home?from=page_100505&mod=TAB#place), who is the Director of research at IHT Technology’s Chinese unit, has stated through his Weibo account that next generation Redmi smartphone will be running SoCs designed by none other than Xiaomi. The executive also states that these upcoming chipsets are going to be thoroughly fast.
Even though these rumors can be debunked, not long ago the company announced an entry level device that featured an LTE modem called Redmi 2A (http://wccftech.com/xiaomis-97-smartphone-is-a-redmi-2a-4-7-inch-coupled-with-lte-modem-is-a-nice-affordable-package/). Even though Redmi 2A was a cheaper version of the original Redmi 2, the smartphone was running a Leadcore LC1860 SoC, which only means that Xiaomi and Leadcore might be shaking hands with one another in the distant future.

Xiaomi is famous for stamping considerably low price tags to its flagship smartphones, even though those devices are void of MicroSD card slots (http://wccftech.com/xiaomis-vp-company-add-microsd-slots-highend-phones/). The company has also branched out to other product categories, including an action camera that possesses much better hardware specs (http://wccftech.com/xiaomi-unveils-night-vision-yi-camera-action-cam-costs-25/) than an entry level GoPro and costs just a fraction of the latter.
If somewhere along the lines, both Chinese firms make a tag team, then it will spell trouble for reigning chip makers such as Qualcomm, which is already having with a tough time dodging violent rants concerning its Snapdragon 810 SoC (http://wccftech.com/xiaomi-pr-mi-note-pro-working-overheating-flaws/).
For now, the company will continue incorporating chipsets from the likes of Qualcomm and MediaTek, until a cheaper solution finds its way, allowing the company to price its mobile devices even lower compared to before. For now, let us just focus on the imminent release of the firm’s Mi 5 and Mi 5 Plus, which are expected to be running Qualcomm’s 14 nm FinFET processed Snapdragon 820.

Xiaomi CEO Might Not Bundle Chargers With New Phones

Tech companies have a nasty habit of saving a ton of money by making false statement that they are somehow contributing to the environment in some manner or the other. On this occasion, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun had poised a question to his followers on the Chinese social media site that we have come to know as Weibo (http://weibo.com/leijun). The individual has stated that the environment is being negatively affected by the abounding number of smartphone chargers that are packed with these mobile devices. In short the CEO might be thinking of cutting out this particular accessory from the packaging altogether.
http://cdn2.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Mi-Note-635x423.jpg (http://cdn3.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Mi-Note.jpg)
Xiaomi Mi Charger Costs $1.70 To Make, But Lei Jun Claims That Consumers Do Not End Up Using Them According to Xiaomi Today (http://www.xiaomitoday.com/lei-jun-contemplates-not-bundling-chargers-with-phones-for-environmental-reasons/), each smartphone charger bundled with a brand new Xiaomi smartphone costs 9.99 Yuan, or $1.70 to manufacture. Jun claims that the influx of smartphone chargers is hurting the environment because consumers will never use the one present in the bundle. Instead, the Xiaomi handset owner, particularly those are in the ownership of devices running high-end Snapdragon SoCs will use a Quick Charge 2.0 compatible charger, which are much more expensive to acquire compared to regular chargers.
While high performing Snapdragon chipsets do support the fast charging feature Quick Charge 2.0, consumers will also have to purchase a separate charger in order to take advantage of the aforementioned feature. So what is our take on this? Well, for starters, the company’s VP, Hugo Barra stated earlier that flagship smartphones belonging to Xiaomi do not feature MicroSD slots or removable batteries because somehow, these two features adversely affect the performance of high-end mobile devices (http://wccftech.com/xiaomis-vp-company-add-microsd-slots-highend-phones/).

Xiaomi has already earned the moniker the ‘Apple of China’ thanks to copying the design of Apple’s smartphones and implementing them in to its own smartphones. The company prices its handsets far lower than the remaining competition in order to target a larger market. Only recently, Xiaomi was rumored to be partnering with Chinese semiconductor maker Leadcore (http://wccftech.com/future-xiaomi-redmi-devices-feature-homegrown-xiami-socs/) to make custom core chips for future Redmi devices.
With this partnership, indirect costs of chip manufacturing will be severely reduced, which is exactly what Xiaomi wants, in order to increase its margins. Similarly, the whole environment sobbing business could also be another ploy from Lei Jun in order to save up on additional costs.
Let us hope that the firm does not end up being a stingy one in the near future.

Xiaomi ships 35 million smartphones in first half

http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/b2eac94d6cb2f1f9a520b33f7db72902_L.jpg (http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/b2eac94d6cb2f1f9a520b33f7db72902_XL.jpg)

Increased by 30 per cent
According to China-based display supplier, Xiaomi has managed to ship out over 35 million smartphones in the first half of this year.

This is a 30 per cent increase on last year when the company managed to sell 'only' 26 million units in the first half of the year.
Xiaomi has said that they intend to move 80-100 million units by the end of this year and the terrified Tame Apple Press mocked it. Normally the company sells double what it sold in the first half of the year in the second, last year it flogged about 61 million smartphones.
This means that Xiaomi has managed to stack up 14 quarters of constant growth and given that the outfit is only five years old this is phenomenal success.
Xiaomi largely competes based on price and typically offers up relatively decent specs for extremely affordable prices.
Who would have thought so many people would opt for having a product which was cheaper than the rest when you can pay so much to have a similar spec with a western brand mark on the back?

No Immediate Plans For US Smartphones Says Xiaomi Chief

While we learned a couple of days back that Xiaomi’s looking to expand in the US at a moderate pace, with the Chinese smartphone starlet starting to sell accessories here through its online store, things might not be as straightforward. For all those hoping that Xiaomi’s gadget sales here would also lead to the company’s smartphones and tablets also making an appearance are in for some bad news today. Xiaomi’s international chief, Hugo Barra has provided some new information about the company’s plans at Re/Code’s Code (https://recode.net/event-coverage/code-conference-2015/) Conference.
http://cdn2.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Hugo-Barra.jpg (http://cdn2.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Hugo-Barra.jpg)

Xiaomi Chief Does Not Elaborate On Company Plans For Devices In US Re/Code’s Code conference, included its fair share of company heads and others to elaborate on a lot of key matters. From Oculus to Amazon, we saw several key corporate leaders give their views and provide some insight on how things are heading in the tech world. One of these was Xiaomi’s head of international operations, Hugo Barra who discussed Xiaomi’s plans for when should consumers back here be expecting devices from a company that has manged to become one of the world’s top smartphone manufacturers over a short span of time.
And by the looks of things, Xiaomi’s in no rush for any devices here. Selling devices here is part of Xiaomi’s long term strategy, but, according to Barra, the company hasn’t picked any specific date so far. There could be a couple of factors surrounding this decision, such as Barra’s belief that there must be appropriate customer service in place before devices are sold and others such as strict patent laws that could end up dragging Xiaomi in battles that it does not want to be a part of now. Whatever the case may be, there’s still going to be time before you get to lay your hands on a Xiaomi device directly from the manufacturer. Lets hope things speed up soon. Stay tuned, we’ll keep you updated and let us know what you think in the comments section below.

Xiaomi tests an expansion out of China

http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/541767a0b8d263a2ea80de437b9494ee_L.jpg (http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/541767a0b8d263a2ea80de437b9494ee_XL.jpg)

Heads to Brazil
Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi is preparing to test out its Chinese success model in another country.

It has started making devices in Brazil for sale locally, promising to undercut rivals on price.
Xiaomi's global vice-president, Hugo Barra, said Brazil was "stage one of our Latin America launch." Latin America is a big market and control of it, and Africa effectively kept the Roman Catholic church going for a lot longer than it should.
Mexico and Colombia are believed to be the next logical next steps in the region.
China's top-selling smartphone company is betting that a tempting price tag will capture the attention of Brazilians who are a bit broke after their idioting funding of the World Cup, which is a sport of Fifa Pyramid scheme.
"We offer high-quality products at incredibly aggressive prices, so we're starting with larger developing markets where people are very price-sensitive," Barra said.
The entry-level Redmi 2 smartphone would go on sale in Brazil next week for $160.
The phones are already rolling off Foxconn's assembly line outside of Sao Paulo.
The push into Brazil will upset Apple which has been cheerfully charging Brazilians $1,000 for its smartphone.

Detailed Xiaomi Mi5 Leak Pegs Device With Snapdragon 820 And 5.3 Inch Screen

Chinese smartphone manufacturers on the rise steadily, and their list would be woefully incomplete without Xiaomi, the upstart which has managed to gain a surprising relevance in the mobile world over the past year or so. Xiaomi’s been busy this year, already having launched the Mi Note Pro, that chose to rely on US chipmaking giant Qualcomm’s ill fated Snapdragon 810. But Xiaomi’s jewel in the crown, its Mi flagship smartphone series is yet to see a launch, and according to earlier leaks, the company is expected to launch the device later this year, with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 on board.
http://cdn2.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Mi-Note-635x423.jpg (http://cdn3.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Mi-Note.jpg)

Alleged Xiaomi Mi5 Leaks Pegs Device With 5.3 Inch Screen And 2K Screen Resolution While we’ve seen plenty of information pegging the Xiaomi Mi5 with the Snadpragon 820, there’s been little information so far about the device’s other specifications. Currently, the Xiaomi Mi5 has been said to come with a 5.2 inch screen, coupled with QHD resolution. Today’s rumor manages to confirm several of these, and manages to bump the Mi5’s screen size to 5.3 inches. According to sources, the Mi5 goes by the internal codename of ‘Libra’ over at Xiaomi and will be launched by the Chinese smartphone manufacturer in November, which is also expected to be the period in which the Snapdragon 820 will start to become available.
The Mi5 is also now reported (http://www.mobipicker.com/xiaomi-mi5-specifications-leaks-releasing-in-november/) to be coming with a fingerprint scanner on board, which should not be coming as any surprise either. The device will come featuring 4 GB of RAM and two storage choices of 16 and 64 GB. Rear camera resolution for the device will be 16 MP with its front camera coming with a resolution of 6 MP. All of this will be powered by a battery of 3,030 mAh which should prove sufficient for most users. This leak pegs the Mi5 to be a good looking device indeed and helps Xiaomi stay relevant in an industry that’s started to become increasingly competitive day by day. Stay tuned, and let us know what you think in the comments section below.

Xiaomi nearing 35 million smartphone units sold worldwide in 2015

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has sold 34.7 million smartphones during Q1 and Q2 of 2015, an impressive 33 percent year-over-year increase. Xiaomi's sales have slowed down slightly in China, but expansion into new territories seems to be going well for the company.

http://imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/4/6/46276_01_xiaomi-nearing-35-million-smartphone-units-sold-worldwide-2015.jpg

Xiaomi's home market of China has generated the bulk of sales, but the company has ambitious expansion plans for India, Brazil, and other select markets. The company is still taking baby steps in the United States (http://www.tweaktown.com/news/43499/xiaomi-taking-baby-steps-united-states-smartphones/index.html), and doesn't want to rush (http://www.tweaktown.com/news/41452/xiaomi-continues-expansion-at-its-own-pace-less-concerned-of-rivals/index.html) into mature markets without developing a strong foundation (http://www.tweaktown.com/news/45216/xiaomi-laying-down-ground-work-begin-european-invasion/index.html).

"Roughly 90 percent of Xiaomi's volumes have been in China in the past, followed by India in a very distance second," said Bryan Ma, VP of IDC Asia, in a statement to CNET. "Sure, the US and Western Europe are important markets (especially in terms of influence), but in terms of numbers, these smartphone markets are each only just over 10 percent of the worldwide market right now. India, on the other hand, is expected to be larger than the US in unit terms by 2017."

http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/1a01b4efdf0c2fa6bcb506a39698cb06_L.jpg (http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/1a01b4efdf0c2fa6bcb506a39698cb06_XL.jpg)

Knifing Xiaomi
Earlier this week (http://www.fudzilla.com/news/mobile/38057-xianomi-ships-35-million-smartphones-in-first-half) we ran a story which said that Xiaomi was doing rather well and was on target to hit its 80 million phone sales this year.

We based our report on the figures presented by Xiaomi so imagine our surprise when we read on other internet sites how Xiaomi results were worse than last year and the company was failing to meet its targets.
Reuters said for example "The firm said it sold 34.7 million handsets in January-June versus 35.0 million in July-December - the first sequential fall since the company began disclosing six-month figures in 2013. For 2015, it aims for minimum sales of 80 million smartphones."
Now we can see where Reuters went wrong here. Tried to make a statistic which was insignificant more important than it was.
Everyone in the IT industry knows you do not compare the second half of one year with the first year of another. This is because a company makes most of its sales in the second half.
Comparing like with like the company had a 30 per cent increase on last year when the company managed to sell 'only' 26 million units in the first half of the year. So contrary to what Reuters said Xiaomi has made a huge leap in sales. Normally the company sells double what it sold in the first half of the year in the second, last year it flogged about 61 million smartphones. Xiaomi should sell 70 million if it does nothing else.
However by putting a negative spin on positive results, it could take its news to an analyst who would claim that it was all due to a fall in smart phone sales in China. When it wasn't.
So why did experienced financial journalists make such a howler? It is easy to put it down to incompetence, but we have seen this before. In Apple's reality distortion field it claims to be doing well in China, even if evidence suggests otherwise. If a success story like Xiaomi is not doing well then it gets Apple a get out of jail free card with analyst when its own figures turn out to be rubbish.
Of course it might have to deal with the fact that by then Xiaomi will be coining it in during the second quarter. Xiaomi has said that they intend to move 80-100 million units by the end of this year and the terrified Tame Apple Press has consistently mocked it. Our guess is that Xiaomi will make its 80 million figure.

A Dual Camera For 2015; Alleged Xiaomi Mi5 Images Shows New Feature

For 2015 smartphone launches, the leak saga just doesn’t seem to end over the past couple of days. After we’ve seen images of nearly every device out there, the circle continues, and today, we’ve managed to get our hands on some purported images of what appears to be the Xiaomi Mi5. Xiaomi’s expected to launch the device later this year, possibly in November, and by the looks of things, the Mi5 appears to be almost finalized.
http://cdn2.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/gsmarena_0012.jpg (http://cdn2.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/gsmarena_0012.jpg) <code></code>

Alleged Images Of The Xiaomi Mi5 Shows Dual Camera Setup On Board Today’s images seem to confirm what we’ve been hearing about the past couple of weeks for the Xiaomi Mi5. According to a leaked image, courtesy of China’s Weibo (http://news.mydrivers.com/1/437/437244.htm), the Xiaomi Mi5 can be expected with a dual camera setup on board. Several Android makers have experimented with the setup in the past, the most notable of them being HTC and Huawei. And looks like Xiaomi’s eager to join the pack as well, if this image turns out to be correct. Apart from the dual camera setup, the Mi5 resembles its predecessor very closely when it comes to overall design language. The same rigid, strict language is followed in the Mi5, with its sharp edges and flat structure.
Aside from the dual camera setup purportedly revealed today, the Mi5 is also expected to come with a variety of other features. The first of these is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820, which is so far reported to come with its own set of four, custom Kirin cores, lessening the chip maker’s reliance on ARM’s designs for flagship SoCs. In addition, the Mi5 is also expected to come with a hefty 4 GB of RAM and a 3,030 mAh battery. Two storage options will be available for the device, of 16 and 64 GB. You can read about the Mi5 in detail over here (http://wccftech.com/alleged-xiaomi-mi5-specs-leak-claims/). Stay tuned and let us know what you think in the comments section below.

Xiaomi Mi 5 Leaked To Feature Sub-$400 Price Tag; OnePlus 2 Definitely In Trouble Now

Looks like OnePlus 2 might not be able to uphold the ‘Nexus Killer’ reputation held by its predecessor, OnePlus One. Previously, it was reported that the smartphone was going to feature a sub-$450 price tag (http://wccftech.com/oneplus-2-price-tag-less-than-450/), but now, OnePlus’ rivalling Chinese company Xiaomi might present a much more affordable smartphone solution. According to the latest leak, Xiaomi Mi 5 might feature a sub-$400 price, and after seeing that the smartphone will most likely be running a Snapdragon 820 SoC (http://wccftech.com/snapdragon-820-benchmarking/), our purchasing decision will definitely go through an immediate shift.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/qqqq-635x379.png (http://cdn3.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/qqqq.png)
Weibo Screenshot Shows That Xiaomi Mi 5 Leaked To Feature A Price Of $386 USD Chinese microblogging website Weibo (http://weibo.com/2554757470/CpYNOComI?from=page_1005052554757470_profile&wvr=6&mod=weibotime&sudaref=www.gforgames.com&reason=&retcode=#_rnd1436276603922) has been the hub of several hardware leaks related to smartphones. On this occasion, the text related to the leak might have been written in Chinese, but the figures concerning hardware and pricing details could not be more evident than this. According to the details stated in the image (image present below), the price of the upcoming handset is going to be 2,399 Yuan, which is equivalent to $386 USD.
While this is becoming hard to fathom, we had believed that Xiaomi Mi 5 was expected to feature a price tag that would be less than $600. Of course, the leak is yet to be confirmed, but imagine if this was the actual retail price of the handset? OnePlus 2 would definitely be standing between a rock and a hard place. Other specifications of Mi 5 include a 16 MP rear camera sensor that will feature an optical image stabilization chip.

http://cdn4.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Xiaomi-Mi-5-Plus-specs.jpg (http://cdn4.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Xiaomi-Mi-5-Plus-specs.jpg)
The jaw-dropping rear camera sensor will be supplemented by a 13 MP front camera sensor, and might even snare the award for being the best selfie camera to be released in 2015. According to the image, it also states that the handset will feature a 3,500 mAh battery, which is a much needed upgrade over the 3,000 mAh cell present in the company’s Mi Note Pro.
Seeing as how Snapdragon 620 was able to perform really well (http://wccftech.com/cortexa72-running-snapdragon-620-scores-impressive-results/) in leaked benchmarking results, we can expect Snapdragon 820 to perform outstandingly when Xiaomi Mi 5 is taken for a bench run. As for the $386 price tag, we will be treating it with a grain of salt and wait for more leaks to come through. However, if the price tag does end up being true, would you consider purchasing Xiaomi Mi 5 over OnePlus 2? Let us know your thoughts.

Xiaomi Libra Hits Geekbench Sporting Snapdragon 808; Are We Seeing An Affordable Device In Tow?

Before Xiaomi gets down to releasing its flagship smartphone Mi 5, which has been leaked to feature a sub-$450 price tag (http://wccftech.com/xiaomi-mi-5-leaked-price-400-or-less/), the Chinese tech sensation is expected to release a Snapdragon 808 powered handset. Xiaomi Libra is the name being given to the smartphone, though we doubt the company would find inspiration in naming its smartphone based on a zodiac sign. After the release of its Mi Note Pro, which sports a Snapdragon 810, Xiaomi plans on targeting the smartphone crowd that needs a combination of both performance and additional affordability.
http://cdn2.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Xiaomi_mi3_Review-2-635x414.jpg (http://cdn2.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Xiaomi_mi3_Review-2.jpg)
Xiaomi Libra Will Also Be Sporting 2 GB Of RAM; Could This Be Xiaomi Mi 4 Pro? Geekbench (http://www.anzhuo.cn/news/p_6423) holds many secrets concerning the hardware specifications of many handsets and on this occasion, the Chinese smartphone firm might be prepping to release an affordable handset that boasts satisfactory processing capabilities. No release date of Xiaomi Libra has been given but it is possible that the smartphone could be an upgraded version of the company’s Mi 4; possibly a Mi 4 Pro.
Despite the fact that Snapdragon 808 is present, Xiaomi will most likely stamp a much more affordable price tag as compared to the one present on LG’s G4 (which also sports the same mobile chipset). According to the details present on the report, the smartphone is running Android Lollipop 5.1.1 on top of Xiaomi’s custom MIUI interface.
http://cdn2.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Xiaomi-Libra-GFXBench-leak_1.jpg (http://cdn2.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Xiaomi-Libra-GFXBench-leak_1.jpg)

While we were getting geared up to see Snapdragon 820 and its 3.0 GHz Kyro cores in action (http://wccftech.com/snapdragon-820-benchmarking/), Xiaomi Libra gets thrown in our direction. Before we jump to conclusions, we will have to treat this report with a grain of salt. With Xiaomi Mi 5 slated for a November release, the tech firm might also be planning to cater to the mid-tier smartphone crowd with an affordable handset.
Unfortunately, this is all the information that we could gather from the report. Once more details exhume, you guys will be the first to get updated.

Thinner Than The Rest Xiaomi Mi5 Plus Leaks On China’s Certification Agency

Xiaomi’s got a big year planned for all of us so far, if the countless rumors and leaks that we have been seeing so far are accurate. The company’s Mi5 is turning out to be quite a device indeed so far, with an upgraded camera, a slimmer form, and an upgraded processor. But the Mi5 isn’t the only flagship smartphone that Xiaomi has in store for us this year. Following the current trend of two flagship smartphone launches, the Chinese smartphone starlet also has a Plus variant of the Mi5 in the works, and this has passed through TENAA, which is China’s equivalent of the FCC.
http://cdn3.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/15022782-c1-635x294.jpg (http://cdn2.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/15022782-c1.jpg)

Xiaomi’s Mi5 Plus Passes Through Chinese TENAA – Comes With 6.95mm Thickness Courtesy of the TENAA (https://translate.google.com/translate?depth=1&hl=en&rurl=translate.google.co.in&sl=zh-CN&tl=en&u=http://shouji.tenaa.com.cn/Mobile/MobileDetail.aspx%3Fcode%3DzDErPbEoeuAgCnH5gd4%252 FOeQOPj%252BBDt8L), we get to take a look at the Xiaomi Mi5 Plus today. Several features and specifications on the device that have been rumored over the past couple of months get confirmed today, while several other don’t. For starters, the Mi5 Plus, and in all probability even the Mi5, will be coming with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820, with its custom cores rumored to hit frequencies as high as 3.0 GHz. In terms of thickness, it will be surpassing Apple’s iPhone 6S Plus. TENAA lists the Xiaomi Mi5 Plus with a thickness of 6.95mm, which is impressive in its own regard.
The Snapdragon 820 will be supplemented by 4GB of the latest LPDDR4 RAM on the device, which should ensure blisteringly fast speeds on the device. Screen size for the Mi5 Plus is 5.7 inches, with 2560 x 1440 resolution. Rear and front camera resolutions stand at 16 and 4MP respectively, making the Mi5 Plus match up with plenty of other flagships out there. It’ll also be coming with internal storage capacity of 64 GB, which should prove sufficient for most users. The Mi5 Plus sounds to be quite a solid device so far and Xiaomi should see its standing improve in the smartphone world after the device’s launch. Stay tuned and let us know what you think in the comments section below.

Xiaomi Teasing A Product On July 16th; Could It Be Mi 5?
Before the imminent launch of Xiaomi’s Mi 5 and Mi Plus, we will bearing witness to a handful of leaks, including ones provided by the company. Previously, it was mentioned that Xiaomi Mi 5 was going to be feature a sub-$400 price and would be powered by a Snapdragon 820 (http://wccftech.com/xiaomi-mi-5-leaked-price-400-or-less/). The release date of the smartphone was locked on to the month of September, but it appears that the handset, along with the company’s Mi 5 Plus could be unveiled as early as July 16, which is only six days from now.
http://cdn2.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/qqqq1-635x379.png (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/qqqq1.png)
If Xiaomi Mi 5 Gets Unveiled This Early, Then It Might Not Feature A Snapdragon 820 After All According to Chinese microblogging website Weibo (http://www.weibo.com/1771925961/CqqPhsLAX?type=comment#_rnd1436529903759), a teaser image with the initials ‘P’ and ‘K’ are present on an image that has been teased by the company. When it comes to deciphering cryptic letters and wordings, we aren’t what you would refer to as experts but we know this much. Xiaomi has made no claims to announcing any other products besides Mi 5 and Mi 5 Plus. Sure, there was a handset codenamed Xiaomi Libra that was sporting a Snapdragon 808 and 2 GB of RAM (http://wccftech.com/xiaomi-libra-to-sport-snapdragon-808-and-2-gb-ram/), but its hardware specs were only leaked yesterday.
The closest products belonging to Xiaomi at this current point are Mi 5 and Mi 5 Plus. However, if these two handsets are slated for a July 16 release date, then it means that we will not be able to witness the Snapdragon 820 in action (http://wccftech.com/snapdragon-820-benchmarking/). Snapdragon 820 is expected to arrive in handsets during Q4, 2015, and July is far too early for Qualcomm to begin assimilating its SoCs in mobile devices.
http://cdn3.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/699d71c9jw1etwwxzmg7hj20u01hcwkv.jpg (http://cdn3.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/699d71c9jw1etwwxzmg7hj20u01hcwkv.jpg)

That being said, it appears that Mi 5 and Mi 5 Plus might be sporting a Snapdragon 810 chipset, along with slightly improved hardware specs as compared to Mi Note Pro. For starters, Mi 5 would possess a 16 MP rear camera sensor, along with a 3,500 mAh battery.
It is said that a fingerprint sensor might also be present in the upcoming smartphone duo, but looks like we are going to have to and see if this is legit or not. Additionally, Xiaomi might be keeping parts of its activities clandestine and plans to unveil a completely new product on the aforementioned date. Unfortunately, we have no clue as to what this product is, but whatever it is going to be, the release date is not far off.
What do you guys think? Will Mi 5 and Mi 5 Plus be showcased much earlier than expected? Let us know your thoughts.

Xiaomi Posts New Teasers For July 16th – The Mi5 Or Redmi Note 2 Headed Our Way?

Xiaomi’s expected to be launching several devices this year. These are expected to be the upgrades to its Redmi Note series and its Mi flagship lineup which is expected to get two upgrades this year. Aside from the Mi 5, which has been rumored for quite a while to be coming with Qualcomm’s Snadpdragon 820, Xiaomi’s also said to have a Mi 5 Plus in the works, with the device already having passed through China’s equivalent of the FCC, the TENAA. Well, the manufacturer recently announced its intentions of holding an event on July 16th, and today its released a couple of teasers as well.
http://cdn4.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/gsmarena_0013-635x584.jpg (http://cdn2.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/gsmarena_0013.jpg)
Xiaomi Posts Teasers For July 16th Event – Mi5 Or Redmi Note Coming Our Way? Xiaomi’s posted more than one teaser (http://en.miui.com/thread-132750-1-1.html) for the July 16th event, so lets take a look at what all of these have to offer. The first two detail what could very well be a new smartphone from the Chinese manufacturer. It could very well be the Mi5, but if Xiaomi does choose to unveil the device three days from now, then its highly unlikely that the Mi5 will be coming with the Snapdragon 820 on board. Xiaomi’s been rumored for a long time to have the Mi 5 with the Snapdragon 820 under the hood, so fans should eagerly hope that device isn’t launched yet. Or maybe we’ll get a Mi5 with the Snapdragon 810 on board, and a Mi5 Plus later, with the Snapdragon 820 ticking.

http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/gsmarena_0024-635x564.jpg (http://cdn4.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/gsmarena_0024.jpg)
The remaining two images show little about the manufacturer’s plans for its upcoming event. The text on the third picture reads ‘Refinement on all sides’ while the fourth image details what appears to be a Mi Box. Since Xiaomi has shown its intentions for gadgets other than smartphones and tablets, so we might see an all new Mi Box coming our way as well. There’s only three days left until Xiaomi’s event, so we’ll find out soon anyways. Stay tuned and let us know what you think in the comments sections below.

Xiaomi Redmi 2: Specification Round-Off With MT6795 Present

With July 16 just around the corner (http://wccftech.com/xiaomi-teasing-product-july-16th-mi-5/), Xiaomi plans on unveiling a new device on the aforementioned date. However, which one is it going to be; Mi 5, Redmi 2, or both? Looks like we are going to have to wait for that day to approach in order to find out. For now, let us look at the specifications that Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 will feature when it is unveiled on the aforementioned date (or might not).
http://cdn2.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Original-Xiaomi-Redmi-2-Phone-4G-LTE-FDD-B1-B3-Red-Rice-2-Dual-SIM-MSM8916-635x471.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Original-Xiaomi-Redmi-2-Phone-4G-LTE-FDD-B1-B3-Red-Rice-2-Dual-SIM-MSM8916.jpg)
Xiaomi Redmi 2: Chipset And RAM According to No Where Else (http://www.nowhereelse.fr/xiaomi-redmi-note2-photos-tenaa-108334/), Redmi 2 will be armed with an MT6975 SoC, which is a more accurate name for MediaTek’s Helio X10 chipset. The chipset will be featuring eight cores of Cortex-A53 running at a clock speed of 2.2 GHz. Previously, Meizu MX5 was also announced (http://wccftech.com/meizu-mx5-53330-antutu-score/) by the Chinese smartphone manufacturer running the same mobile chipset. Redmi 2 belongs to the mid-ranged category of Xiaomi’s smartphone portfolio so it is a little surprising that the handset would feature a high-end chipset underneath its hood.
However, the smartphone does feature 2 GB of RAM, which is an indication that the device has not crept off the affordable handset category.

Xiaomi Redmi 2: Battery Pack And Display The latest leak also suggests that Redmi 2 will be packing a 3,020 mAh battery, which will provide sufficient battery life to the user. According to TENAA, Redmi 2 will also sport a 5.5 inch display, but the details did not divulge upon the number of pixels that the handset will be rendering. We suspect that the smartphone will be featuring a 1080p display, since a 720p would be far too low on a device that is assimilated with a Helio X10.
Xiaomi Redmi 2: Camera And Pricing Details Xiaomi’s affordable offering will be sporting a 13 megapixel rear facing snapper (most likely a Sony IMX214). The front facing shooter will have a maximum image resolution of 5 megapixels, which seems like a very good camera sensor combination for a device that belongs to the price/performance category. As for the pricing details, Xiaomi Redmi 2 is expected to get stamped with a 799 Yuan price tag (which is converted in to $129 USD).
That is a terrific price from Xiaomi looking to snare to dominate the price/performance category once more. As for the remainder of the details, we are confident that Xiaomi will be providing details on July 16th. For now, let us contemplate on which device will actually be unveiled; Mi 5 or Redmi 2. Choose your pick.

Xiaomi VP Hugo Barra Fires Back At Apple’s ‘Melodramatic’ Copycat Accusations

Does Xiaomi's Mi 4 (http://hothardware.com/news/xiaomis-beautifully-vibrant-mi-4i-crams-in-5-inch-1080p-display-snapdragon-615-and-15-day-battery) handset bear a resemblance to Apple's iPhone 5 (http://hothardware.com/reviews/iphone-5-review)? You betcha, and Xiaomi (http://hothardware.com/tags/xiaomi) boss Hugo Barra isn't ashamed to admit as much. However, he's not willing to concede that Xiaomi is stealing Apple's (http://hothardware.com/tags/apple) designs, as famed design chief (for Apple) Jony Ive once alleged when stating the similarities between products isn't "flattery," but "theft."

Chinese startup Xiaomi has risen in the ranks as a maker of premium Android (http://hothardware.com/tags/android) smartphones that sell for less than what Samsung (http://hothardware.com/tags/samsung) charges. And like Samsung, Apple takes issue with Xiaomi's designs. Samsung was once sued for copying the look and feel of Apple's iPhone products, and you have to wonder if Xiaomi find itself the target of litigation someday. But if you ask Barra, Apple's being melodramatic.

http://hothardware.com/ContentImages/NewsItem/34390/content/Mi_Note.jpg
If you ask Xiaomi CEO Hugo Barra, he'll tell you nothing about the Mi Note (http://hothardware.com/news/xiaomi-mocks-iphone-6-plus-with-55-inch-qhd-snapdragon-810-powered-mi-note) (shown above) looks like Apple's iPhone 6

"This whole copycat melodrama all boils down to one chamfered edge on one particular phone model, which was Mi 4, which people said looked like the iPhone 5. And I've been the first one to admit it -- yes, it does look like the iPhone 5," Barra told Bloomberg in a video interview. "And that chamfered edge, by the way, is present in so many other devices."

Barra goes on to explain that all smartphones look a bit similar to another in some way. He argues there's no getting around the general design, as smartphones must have curved corners and "at least a home button in some way, right? That's how interaction design works."

What Barra takes issue with is Apple taking ownership of it all. He also feels there's some bias against China, which makes Xiaomi an easy target for criticism.

<iframe width="620" height="349" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/nuGLoZ1iUOU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

"It was in many ways people projecting their bias against Chinese companies onto us," Barra said. "People just couldn't bring themselves to believe that a Chinese company actually could be a world innovator, could build amazingly high quality products, and by the way sell them for less than half the price of a high end Apple or Samsung device. I think that drama has quickly started to vanish."

Barra believes things are going to reverse course in the near future, where instead of people accusing Xiaomi of copying Apple, it will be Apple and other companies taking inspiration from Xiaomi's designs.

What do you think, is Barra a truthsayer, or does he have his head buried in the sand?

An Edge To Edge Display Leaks For The Xiaomi Mi5 Today

With all the hype bees circling Samsung’s upcoming Note and Galaxy S6 launches, and the rest being busy with Apple’s iPhone launches, Chinese smartphone starlet Xiaomi seems to have been left out of the mix. The manufacturer which managed to impress quite a lot of folks with its Mi4 launches earlier is showing no signs of slowing down, and is expected to launch the Xiaomi Mi5 later this year.
The Mi5 is also expected to come with none other than the Snapdragon 820, Qualcomm’s reply to all those doubting its prowess. Well, the Mi5 has been pictured today for everyone curious about Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship, and you can take a look at it below.

The Xiaomi Mi5 Has Surfaced – Bezel Free Display On The CardsLooks like Xiaomi’s eager to give the rest of the smartphone pack some tough times when it comes to device design. We’ve started to see an increased focus towards design in the Android world recently, marking a shift from the performance based devices that came earlier. Manufacturers such as LG and Samsung have started to stress upon the need of well designed device; citing the need for differentiation in an ecosystem where the processor and RAM have been the king for a long time.

These leaked (http://www.mobile-dad.com/a/286/14411.html) images of the Mi5 further boost this fact, and coming allegedly from a manufacturer whose often been labelled as the Chinese ‘Apple’, they do present a good look for the eyes. As can be seen above, the Xiaomi Mi5 pictured here comes with a edge to edge, bezelless display, which is something we’ve heard before as well.
Aside from the design language, its very hard to discern any other details from today’s leak. The Mi5 is expected to come with the Snapdragon 820, 4 GB of RAM and improved camera specifications. From the looks of things, we should also be expecting an all metal device from the Chinese manufacturer. Stay tuned and let us know what you think in the comments section below.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Expected To Be Announced On August 16 To Tackle Mid-Ranged Mobile Market

Now that we have covered sufficient amount of news pieces for the higher tier smartphone market, let us place our attention to the more affordable side of the market with Xiaomi Redmi Note 2. Despite the fact that Redmi Note 2 will be targeted to the middle smartphone market, the handset is no slouch when it comes to performance. Consumers looking to own an affordable smartphone will not have to wait any longer since the announcement of the handset is expected to be August 16.
Recommended: Xiaomi Redmi Note 2: Specification Round-Off With MT6795 Present (http://wccftech.com/redmi-2-xiaomi-mt6975-and-129-price-tag/)http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/Xiaomi-Redmi-2-Resmi-Dijual-di-China-Harga-19-Jutaan.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/Xiaomi-Redmi-2-Resmi-Dijual-di-China-Harga-19-Jutaan.jpg)
Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Will Come In Two Variants; An MT6795 And A Snapdragon 615 ModelAccording to Mobipicker (http://www.mobipicker.com/xiaomi-could-announce-redmi-note-2-on-august-16th/), Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 could be announced on the aforementioned date, which is only three days ahead of Samsung’s August 13th event. Coming to the hardware specifications of Redmi Note 2, we expect that the handset is going to be shipped out in two variants; an MT6795 and a Snapdragon 615 variant.

On a personal note, on pure performance terms, we will immediately be compelled to purchase the MT6795 SoC model, since Snapdragon 615 comes nowhere close to the performance level of MediaTek’s chipset.
Additionally, we should also expect 2 GB of RAM to be present in the handset. As for the screen size and resolution, Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 will feature a 5.5 inch screen that will render a 1080p resolution. Thanks to its larger form factor, we could be seeing a 3,020 mAh battery present in it as well. A 13 MP/5 MP camera sensor combination will provide satisfactory image snapping quality and we also expect the handset to feature 16 GB of on-board expandable storage.
Since the device is going to target the mid-ranged smartphone market, we should expect a price tag of less than $200. As for which model we would purchase, we would definitely settle for MT6795. Qualcomm has disappointed consumers and its corporate clients lately, and we don’t want to be a part of that circle anytime soon. Looks like we are going to have to wait for Redmi Note 2 to be unveiled on that aforementioned date. Are you guys excited for the launch? Let us know your thoughts.

Xiaomi Expected To Release Its Custom Cores By Next Year

It seems that lots of tech companies have decided to reduce the dependency on other tech firms. On this occasion, Xiaomi, known as the ‘Apple of China’ has decided to start producing its custom cores from next year in order to release even cheaper handsets in the near future. With the market becoming more and more susceptible to cheaper, yet faster smartphones, it is only fitting that smartphone companies do whatever they can to remain top dog.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/xiaomilogo-635x357.png (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/xiaomilogo.png)
Xiaomi Custom Cores Are Indicated Through An Image Leaked From Chinese Micro-Blogging WebsiteXiaomi producing its own custom cores was already known from the start (http://wccftech.com/future-xiaomi-redmi-devices-feature-homegrown-xiami-socs/), particularly when Xiaomi showcased its Redmi 2A. The handset did not feature a Snapdragon 410 SoC like last time, but a Leadcore SoC, named LC1860C, which ran a quad-core processor. Leadcore happens to be a Chinese chipmaker and seems like the only possible candidate that will form a partnership with Xiaomi to roll out the company’s custom cores.
Xiaomi is the not only one headed in its direction. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 (http://wccftech.com/snapdragon-820-feature-kyro-cores-speeds-30-ghz/), the one that will be manufactured on Samsung’s 14 nm FinFET process is also going to be running the company’s Kryo custom cores. Coming back to Xiaomi, it is rumored that the company is working on its own ARM processors for upcoming devices, and we will bear witness to them during an undisclosed period in 2016.

http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/9846815ejw1euqn595agjj20go096jrr.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/9846815ejw1euqn595agjj20go096jrr.jpg)

Image source (http://weibo.com/206800072?from=profile&wvr=6#_rnd1438703869546)Xiaomi has reportedly secured all the licenses that they need to have another partner manufacture chips for them. The company recently hired Qualcomm’s President of their China business, Wang Xiang, so it obviously means that Xiaomi is getting dead serious in dominating the smartphone market.
For now, we believe that Xiaomi will begin incorporating its custom cores in budget handsets and start from the bottom of the smartphone market. However, for its mid-tier and flagship offerings, the company will most likely stick with MediaTek and Qualcomm. There are no other details present concerning Xiaomi and its custom core chips so it looks like we are going to have to wait till next year to see what the rising Chinese tech star has in store for us.

Price Leak Shows MT6795 Powered Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 To Cost Less Than $115 USD

Rising Chinese tech sensation Xiaomi looks very serious about grabbing the price/performance market with the announcement of its Redmi Note 2. The company will be shifting to produce its own custom cores (http://wccftech.com/custom-cores-from-xiaomi-starting-2016/) in the near future, but for now, it is going to rely on Qualcomm and MediaTek to get things done. Coming to the company’s Redmi Note 2, the latest pricing leak shows that the upcoming handset, which is going to be powered by MediaTek’s powerful MT6795 SoC, is going to carry a price tag of just 699 Yuan, or $113 USD, when converted. Now that is a phenomenal price tag.
Recommended: Xiaomi Redmi 2: Specification Round-Off With MT6795 Present (http://wccftech.com/redmi-2-xiaomi-mt6975-and-129-price-tag/)http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/343b892a76704d53a6d431213192f715-635x371.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/343b892a76704d53a6d431213192f715.jpg)
Redmi Note 2 Will Also Be Featuring A 4G Modem, Along With A 5.5 Inch Display Rendering A 1080p ResolutionAccording to the price leak originating all the way from China (http://news.mydrivers.com/1/441/441759.htm), it can clearly be seen that the device features the model name Redmi Note 2 and is going to sport a price tag of 699 Yuan, which is much less compared to the previous generation Redmi Note 2. While it is possible that Xiaomi plans to release two variants of the smartphone (one that will feature 1 GB of RAM with lesser amounts of internal storage), the initial price is phenomenal, assuming it ends up being true.

Moving on, MT6795, or in other words Helio X10, is going to be running an octa-core Cortex-A53 at 2.0 GHz, which is the same frequency of the processor running in Sony’s Xperia M5 (http://wccftech.com/xperia-m5-helio-x10-21-5-mp-camera/). While it might not be as powerful as a Snapdragon 810 or Exynos 7420, you will get more than your money’s worth with the powerful CPU running inside Redmi Note 2. Supplementing the processor will be 2 GB of RAM, and 32 GB of internal storage. For image capturing purposes, a 13/5 MP camera sensor combination will be present along with a fully functional 4G modem.
While there have been no details suggesting which frequencies the 4G modem will be running at, looks like we will eventually get to know in the near future during the handset’s announcement date, which is expected to be August 16. As stated before, if the pricing details end up being true, then we’ll have another affordable price/performance winner being rolled out by Xiaomi.

Xiaomi Mi 5 Might Come In Both Snapdragon 810 And Snapdragon 820 Versions Carrying Different Prices

While we all thought that Xiaomi Mi 5 was going to be sporting Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 (http://wccftech.com/snapdragon-820-hydra-cores-14-nm-finfet-q1-2016/) SoC, the latest info coming in states that the incoming handset will be available to purchase in both the Snapdragon 810 and Snapdragon 820 versions. Naturally, Snapdragon 810 will be the less expensive model, which is only fitting seeing as how Snapdragon 820 will blow it right out of the water. Let us come to the pricing details of both handsets to see whether or not they will fit your budget when they are released.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/800px-Xiaomi_logo1-720x455-635x401.png (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/800px-Xiaomi_logo1-720x455.png)
Xiaomi Mi 5 Snapdragon 820 Variant Will Cost 2,999 Yuan, Or $483; Xiaomi Mi Note Pro Price Also Expected To Be DroppedAccording to KJuma (http://weibo.com/206800072?from=profile&wvr=6#_loginLayer_1439100509749), Xiaomi Mi 5 (the Snapdragon 820 version) is going to carry a price of 2,999 Yuan ($483) and 2,599 Yuan ($419) for the Snapdragon 810 version. The individual has also stated that after both devices start getting sold in the market, Xiaomi is going to observe price cuts for its phablet sized Mi Note Pro, which will have its price reduced from 2,999 Yuan to 2,499 Yuan, or from $483 to $403. This will present an affordable, yet powerful solution for consumers wanting to get their hands on a Snapdragon powered handset.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/asdasdad.png (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/asdasdad.png)

Additionally, Mi Note Pro will also be able to challenge OnePlus 2, which retails for $389 in the U.S., for the 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal memory model. While the exact release date of Xiaomi Mi 5 is unknown, we suspect that the Snapdragon 810 version will be released before 2015 draws to a close, and the Snapdragon 820 powered version will be coming to markets during the first quarter of 2016.
Additionally, on August 16, a new Xiaomi device is expected to be unveiled, and from the string of leaks that we have been reporting, it is going be Redmi Note 2, which is going to be powered by an MT6795, or Helio X10, and has been leaked to carry a price of $113 (http://wccftech.com/xiaomi-redmi-note-2-pricing-leak/).
While you guys were waiting for the Snapdragon 820 powered Xiaomi Mi 5 to be released in 2015, looks like we are going to have to make due with a Snapdragon 810 one for 2015.

Last Minute Redmi Note 2 Hardware Leak Confirms MT6795 SoC Present

While there were some doubts concerning the internal components of Xiaomi Redmi Note 2, especially the part with it would be incorporated with MediaTek’s high-end MT6795 ‘system on a chip’, the latest images show the aforementioned chipset is in fact a part of the handset’s hardware specifications. MT6795 is more commonly known as Helio X10 and while it might not be as powerful as Exynos 7420, or Snapdragon 810, it will still get the job done of providing you with sufficient processing firepower.

Previous Leaks Show That Redmi Note 2 Is Going Carry A Price Less Than $115 While Sporting MediaTek’s Powerful SoCAccording to Weibo (http://weibo.com/206800072?from=profile&wvr=6), KJuma has once again posted images of Redmi Note 2. As you can clearly see, the name of the handset is listed as Redmi Note 2 and the clock speed of the processor running inside Helio X10 is 2.0 GHz. Just to remind you, the mobile chipset features an octa-core Cortex-A53 CPU running at 2.0 GHz. Additional specifications include 2 GB of RAM, which was already reported from our previous leak.
The operating system update running on Redmi Note 2 is Android Lollipop 5.0.2, which is great to see in the mid-ranger. The image also shows that the internal memory count is 16 GB, out of which 10.82 GB will be usable. Despite the fact that Redmi Note 2 features insufficient internal memory, the handset will definitely be a sporting a slot to place a MicroSD card.

As for the pricing, we previously reported that Redmi Note 2 was leaked to feature a price tag of $113 (http://wccftech.com/xiaomi-redmi-note-2-pricing-leak/), which is phenomenal, if the leak turns out to be true. The leak also mentioned that the upcoming smartphone would be sporting a 13/5 MP camera sensor combination, which is also really impressive considering that Redmi Note 2 sports a really affordable price.
While this is all the information that we have at this current point, August 16 is not far, and we expect Xiaomi to surprise us by a long way.

Xiaomi Handset Codenamed Libra Leaks As Mi 4c; Snapdragon 808 In Tow?

Not long ago, a Xiaomi handset codenamed (http://wccftech.com/xiaomi-libra-to-sport-snapdragon-808-and-2-gb-ram/) Libra had its specifications popped up courtesy of Geekbench. According to the details, the smartphone was sporting a Snapdragon 808 SoC. Now, the latest leak reveals that the upcoming device possesses an actual model name; Mi 4c. Yes folks, that is correct; looks like we finally we will finally be bearing witness to Xiaomi’s first ever mobile device that is going to be running Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 808.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/Xiaomi-Libra-GFXBench-leak_1.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/Xiaomi-Libra-GFXBench-leak_1.jpg)
Other Specifications Of Xiaomi Mi 4c Include 2 GB Of Ram; Could Be Announced TomorrowThe leak was revealed through leaksfly (https://twitter.com/upleaks), a known leakster tweeting the latest findings of gadgets and mobile devices on the micro-blogging website. According to our previous findings, Snapdragon 808 features a hexa-core processor that possess the following CPU configuration:

Quad-core 1.44 GHz Cortex-A53
Dual-core 1.82 GHz Cortex-A57

However, on this occasion, Xiaomi Mi 4c was shown to be running six cores of Cortex-A53 at the aforementioned clock speed. Perhaps Xiaomi is well informed about Cortex-A57; that it consumes 256 more power (http://wccftech.com/huawei-details-performance-kirin-930-cortexa53e-cores-superior-performance/) compared to Cortex-A53 and is unable to deliver the performance according to the ratio at which it consumes battery life. According to the source, Xiaomi is gearing up to announce its Mi 4c tomorrow, which is only three days before the company announces its Redmi Note 2 (http://wccftech.com/redmi-note-2-leaked-images-show-mt6795-soc/), a handset powered by MediaTek’s MT6795 SoC.
Mi 4c could very prove to be the successor of the company’s Mi 4i, a device sporting a Snapdragon 615, and does not come close to the capabilities of Snapdragon 808. While there were no pricing details surrounding Mi 4c, we have a feeling that it is going to carry a sub-$200 price in order to keep up with the remaining competition. Since the leakster stated that there is a high chance that the smartphone is announced tomorrow, let us keep our fingers crossed and see if Xiaomi will add another device to its smartphone portfolio.

Xiaomi's new Redmi Note 2 is the budget smartphone to beat at $129

Samsung may be getting all of the media attention today with the announcement of its new Galaxy phablets (http://www.techspot.com/news/61753-samsung-unveils-galaxy-note-5-s6-edge-shipping.html) but it’s not the only company introducing new handsets on this Thursday. Chinese rival Xiaomi (http://www.techspot.com/news/59262-xiaomi-now-world-most-valuable-tech-startup.html) has been giving competing smartphone makers fits (http://www.techspot.com/news/59160-world-third-largest-smartphone-maker-xiaomi-made-56.html) in the entry-level market and its latest handset will only further drive that narrative.
What they’ve done is more or less taken the power plant of the HTC One M9+ (http://www.techspot.com/news/60301-htc-launches-upgraded-one-m9-china.html) (an $800 handset) and crammed it into a phone they plan to sell for just $129. Ouch.
http://www.techspot.com/images2/news/bigimage/2015/08/2015-08-13-image-2.png
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 (https://twitter.com/xiaomi/status/631726688649371648), as it’s called, is powered (http://www.mi.com/note2/) by an octa-core MediaTek Helio x10 SoC clocked at 2.0GHz. Worth noting about the Helio x10 is that unlike most octa-core chips, this one doesn’t use the big.LITTLE configuration (http://www.techspot.com/news/50656-arm-announces-64-bit-cortex-a57-and-cortex-a53-processors.html) that typically pairs four higher-end cores with four lesser cores to handle light loads. Instead, it consists of eight Cortex-A53 cores which are the “little” cores in the big.LITTLE design, all of which run at the same clock speed.
The Redmi Note 2 also includes 2GB of RAM and ships with a 5.5-inch, 1080p display. Around back is a 13-megapixel f/2.2 camera that uses phase detection auto-focus opposite of a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter with an aperture of f/2.0. The phone features a removable 3,020mAh battery, dual SIM card slots, 802.11ac Wi-Fi and 16GB of internal storage that’s expandable via microSD card slot.
http://www.techspot.com/images2/news/bigimage/2015/08/2015-08-13-image-3.png
It’ll ship running Xiaomi’s MIUI 7 OS which is based on Android.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 is the entry-level version of the device. The next model up at $140 includes faster LTE connectivity while the Redmi Note 2 Prime bumps the processor speed up to 2.2GHz and doubles local storage to 32GB for just $155. Look for it to go on sale starting August 16 in China. No word yet on when or if it’ll make its way stateside (http://www.techspot.com/news/59743-xiaomi-enter-us-market-later-year-online-store.html).

Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Benchmarks Revealed; Bulldozes Through Competition

Previously, we reported that Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 had its specifications leaked (http://wccftech.com/redmi-note-2-leaked-images-show-mt6795-soc/), where it was stated that the handset was armed with MediaTek’s MT6795 SoC. Now, the latest benchmarks of the smartphone reveal that not only is Redmi Note 2 a very affordable handset, but it thrashes the remaining competition in the process as well.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/dadadadada-635x264.png (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/dadadadada.png)
Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Tops In AnTuTu Benchmarking Results, Overtakes OnePlus OneThe latest screenshots coming from Weibo (http://weibo.com/unilomo#_rnd1439560324514) show that Redmi Note 2 is able top against devices like OnePlus One and HTC One M9, which are incorporated with Snapdragon 801. Even though Snapdragon 801 is two generations old, the devices which are running the SoC are not cheap in comparison to Redmi Note 2. After all, Helio X10 present inside it is not supposed to be taken lightly. The mobile chipset is running eight Cortex-A53 cores running at a speed of 2.0 GHz.
Supplementing the performance of Helio X10 is 2 GB of LPDDR3 RAM. We suspect that if Xiaomi incorporated 3 GB of RAM inside Redmi Note 2, the score would have been much higher than the one presented in the image. Another thing that needs to be pointed out here is that this particular model features 16 GB of on-board storage.

http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/97e4449egw1ev0sy8sq1mj20dc0np75u.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/97e4449egw1ev0sy8sq1mj20dc0np75u.jpg)
The 32 GB model features a clock speed of 2.2 GHz, meaning that if you were to invest a little more money on the affordable Redmi Note 2, the device will be able to obtain a much higher score compared to its lesser performing variant. The remaining specifications of both smartphones will remain constant between each other; a 5.5 inch screen size renders a resolution of 1080p and there are three variants that will be available to purchase for $125, $141, and $156.

For a handset of this price, other OEMs should start evaluating the prices of their future handsets.

Xiaomi Mi5 Leaked Benchmark Shows Unbelievable Score; Competition Better Watch Out

With all the buzz that we have been hearing about Xiaomi Mi5, it appears that the handset is going to be a very powerful machine. The term ‘powerful’ is an understatement because the latest Xiaomi Mi5 benchmark leak shows that the device has obtained an unbelievably high score; higher than Samsung’s Galaxy S6 family. For the remaining competition, it would be wise to keep your eyes open because after Redmi Note 2 (http://wccftech.com/xiaomi-redmi-note-2-benchmarking-leaks/), Xiaomi is going to hit hard once more with its upcoming flagship smartphone, Mi5.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/asdasdasdasdasdwwss-635x300.png (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/asdasdasdasdasdwwss.png)
Xiaomi Mi5 Obtains A Score Of 70,000 Plus In Antutu Benchmarking Result; Device Expected To Get Released Either In Later 2015, Or Early 2016The latest leak comes from China (http://ww4.sinaimg.cn/mw1024/9846815ejw1ev63xlqci1j20cw0kudg6.jpg), and we can clearly see that Xiaomi Mi5 was able to achieve the highest rank by obtaining a score of 73,075 points. That score right there, is much higher compared to what Galaxy S6 is able to achieve and even higher than what Galaxy Note 5 was able to achieve (http://wccftech.com/galaxy-note-5-69702-antutu-score/). With a 70,000 plus score, it can only mean one of two things; either Xiaomi Mi5 will be running MediaTek Helio X20 (http://wccftech.com/mediateks-helio-x20-features-10core-processor-70000-score-antutu/), or Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 (http://wccftech.com/snapdragon-820-hydra-cores-14-nm-finfet-q1-2016/).
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/9846815ejw1ev63xlqci1j20cw0kudg6.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/9846815ejw1ev63xlqci1j20cw0kudg6.jpg)
From our previous leak (http://wccftech.com/xiaomi-mi-5-snapdragon-820-snapdragon-810-model/), where we reported that Xiaomi Mi5 would be coming in both a Snapdragon 810 and Snapdragon 820 model, it is possible that the device will not be sporting Helio X20 at all. However, with all the pile of criticism that has converged towards Qualcomm and its overheating Snapdragon 810, it is also possible that Xiaomi would be turning its attention to more suitable alternatives. We have yet to see a MediaTek SoC go beyond its thermal threshold, so the Taiwanese mobile chipmaker already has goodwill as its good luck charm.
As for the benchmarking leak of Xiaomi Mi5, we should treat this with a grain of salt, and wait for more scores to sprout up so that we can provide you guys with some valuable insight on what to expect from Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship smartphone. For now, it looks like the Chinese tech sensation is going to steal the other companies’ thunder once more.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Could Be Released With An Even Powerful More Chipset In The Future

After markets and smartphone OEMs were stunned with the announcement of the Helio X10 powered (http://wccftech.com/xiaomi-redmi-note-2-benchmarking-leaks/) Xiaomi Redmi Note 2, the Chinese handset manufacturer might be intending on delivering a whole new level of shock to customers and companies alike by introducing an even more powerful version of Redmi Note 2.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/dadadadada1-635x264.png (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/dadadadada1.png)
Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Could Sport A Helio X20 SoC During The Later Months Of 2015According to the latest leak (http://weibo.com/206800072?from=profile&wvr=6#_rnd1440284215586), Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 could be released during the later months of 2015 sporting MediaTek’s Helio X20 chipset. Helio X20 (http://wccftech.com/mediatek-helio-x30-details/) is expected to be present in smartphones very soon and it is already famous for sporting a deca-core processor. The SoC will not be running any Cortex-A57 cores and will be replaced with two Cortex-A72 cores.
These cores will not only be powerful, but will be far more efficient as compared to Cortex-A57. Since we have yet to see any overheating issues sprouting from MediaTek chipsets, it is expected that Helio X20 will effortlessly be able to exceed the capabilities of both Snapdragon 810 and Exynos 7420. What is even more exciting about this revelation is that Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 already carries a killer price tag of $125 (running the octa-core Cortex-A53 at 2.0 GHz).
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/9846815ejw1evajhv4aa0j20j10hswgr.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/9846815ejw1evajhv4aa0j20j10hswgr.jpg)

Our assumption is that while the Helio X20 powered Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 will be more expensive than the variant that sports Helio X10, the Chinese company will most likely price it in such a manner that it kills the competition altogether. While the following has not been confirmed, it is possible that the Helio X20 powered handset is going to be incorporated with more RAM, although this will mean that consumers will be required to spend more in order to purchase it.
However, if you are getting more performance from a smartphone that costs far less than the competition, then it is a future purchase that consumers will be looking forward to.

Xiaomi Mi5 Pricing Details Leaked; Will Put OnePlus 2 In A Lot Of Trouble

If you thought the OnePlus 2 was one of the highest performing and low cost devices that you have ever come across, then you have yet to see the pricing details of Xiaomi Mi5. We stumbled across the leaked price tag of the upcoming flagship smartphone from a Chinese firm, and just to keep you excited, this device will be well worth the wait.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/XIAOMI-MI5-635x496.jpg
Xiaomi Mi5 Pricing Details State That It Will Cost $399; Storage Details Have Not Been Provided A leak originating from China states that the Xiaomi Mi5 is going to retail for $399 in the U.S. While the price tag is quite affordable, we did report earlier that the upcoming smartphone was going to be available to purchase in both the Snapdragon 810 and Snapdragon 820 (http://wccftech.com/xiaomi-mi-5-snapdragon-820-snapdragon-810-model/) variants, with the former obviously being far cheaper. If this pricing leak is of the Snapdragon 820 variant, then smartphone consumers are in for a real treat.
In addition to featuring a Snapdragon 820 chip, it is expected that Xiaomi Mi5 is going to feature 4GB of RAM, coupled with a 1440p display, a 16MP rear shooter and a fingerprint scanner. However, one other detail that the leak mentioned was that the upcoming flagship smartphone will be IP67 certified, making it waterproof up to a certain depth.

http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/adadadadad1.png
By looking at the company’s previous flagship offerings, we can say for certain that Xiaomi Mi5 will not be sporting a MicroSD card slot and will most likely be shipped out in the 32 and 64GB capacity models. While the following has not been mentioned, it is possible that the leaked pricing details were that of the 32GB model, although confirmation of all these facts can only be given as we move closer and closer to the handset’s official announcement date.
Since Snapdragon 820 is going to be present in handsets during Q1, 2016, the announcement is going to be made next year. This is all the information that we know of so far; when more leaks are made available to us, we will detail them here, so stay tuned to our coverage.

Xiaomi Will Be Releasing Two Of Its Own Chipsets In 2016 – Which Handsets Will Sport Them?

Earlier, we had published a report stating that custom cores (http://wccftech.com/custom-cores-from-xiaomi-starting-2016/) being developed by Xiaomi were going to be introduced during an undisclosed period of 2016. While we do not know what kind of custom cores are going to be incorporated in to the company’s upcoming smartphones, the latest information that we have come across states that the Chinese smartphone firm is treading carefully with the new direction it is taking since we will not be getting to witness a whole family of these chipsets initially.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/xiaomilogo-635x3571-635x357.png (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/xiaomilogo-635x3571.png)
Xiaomi To Introduce Two Custom Cores To Be Incorporated In To The Company’s Handsets – More Of Them Could Arrive In The Foreseeable Future Information coming all the way from China states that Xiaomi is only going to be introducing two custom cores initially, which are going to be found in the firm’s future lineup of smartphones. Since the company’s Redmi series of handsets feature an affordable price, these custom cores are most likely going to be present in them.
One primary reason why Xiaomi is following in the same footsteps as Samsung, Huawei and Apple is because it wants to reduce its dependency on companies like Qualcomm and MediaTek, which supply the Chinese tech company with SoCs. Also, with Xiaomi’s own custom cores, the price tag of its handsets could be reduced even further, allowing the company to further tighten its grip on the entry and mid-tier smartphone market.
Xiaomi recently launched its Redmi Note 2 (http://wccftech.com/xiaomi-redmi-note-2-released-powerful-chipset-future/), a powerful handset running a Helio X10 SoC and priced at just $125. If a smartphone firm is able to release handsets like these that are running powerful chipsets, imagine what can happen if it starts to produce its own chipsets? Lowered prices. The firm is said to be in partnership with another Chinese chip making company called Leadcore. It is only fitting to have a local company in your own region to develop custom cores, which will further reduce prices for Xiaomi.

Leadcore LC1860 is a chipset that was present in Redmi 2A (http://wccftech.com/future-xiaomi-redmi-devices-feature-homegrown-xiami-socs/); a very affordable handset with an LTE modem, signifying that the company could be responsible for producing these custom cores. For now, Xiaomi will be relying on Qualcomm and MediaTek to supply majority of these chips, but in the future, we expect the company to release even more powerful variants of its own custom ‘system on a chip’.
We will be providing more information to you guys as soon as it becomes available to us.

Xiaomi makes its own SoC

http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/76ef01eb49ef6d376bee7b1c0d639bbc_L.jpg (http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/76ef01eb49ef6d376bee7b1c0d639bbc_XL.jpg)

Joining the big boys in 2016

Xiaomi is the latest big phone manufacturer trying to make its own SoCs to differentiate itself from the fearsome competition.

China's biggest smartphone manufacturer is working on its own SoC that is scheduled to appear in 2016. Details are thin on the ground but it would appear that the company is working on its own ARM based chip (http://www.appy-geek.com/Web/ArticleWeb.aspx?regionid=3&articleid=47112687). This will help company to compete with Apple, Samsung and Huawei. These three already have an inhouse SoC.
Apple started making its own SoC a while ago with the original iPhone and Samsung has joined in a few years later. This is going to become more common in the phone industry.
Samsung caught everyone by surprise when it announced that its flagship Galaxy S6 and the latest Galaxy 6 Note and edge ended up with a 14nm based 7240 . Before this, they used Qualcomm chips for their high end devices.
HTC ended up using Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 while LG G4 flagship phone chose the Snapdragon 808 which was a slightly slower version of the chip.
Huawei has acquired HiSIlicon SoC manufacturer a few years ago and the company makes its own SoC branded Kirin. The company is doing a decent job with its latest Kirin 930. This "four plus four" A53 chip with one cluster with 2.0 GHz and another with 1.5Ghz seems like a decent chip. It even has Cat 6 modem to compete better.
The future Kirin 950 will have A72 cores and even Cat 10 modems but this is something we will see in course of 2016.
If Xiaomi becomes successful in its SoC plans, it will put Qualcomm and MediaTek in a tough position. The company is using Snapdragon 810 in its MI Note Pro, and Snapdragon 615 in Mi 4i phone.
Redmi Note 2 is using the quite popular MediaTek SoC Helio X10 SoC that ended up in quite a few phones coming from the Far East.
Xiaomi has already developed LC1860 processor for its low end Redmi 2A, which was a sub $100 phone. This was developed by the Xiaomi-owned Pine Cone Electronics working with Chinese chip maker Leadcore Technology. The LC 1860 was significantly less expensive that similar spec Qualcomm chip.
LG has been working on its own SoC codenamed Odin (http://www.fudzilla.com/34472-lg-odin-soc-rumoured-to-be-in-production) and we still haven't seen a single device with it. Making SoC chips with an integrated LTE is hard and it costs Qualcomm and MediaTek billions of dollars to refresh the latest offering at least once a year. This was why Nvidia and Texas Instruments have dropped out of this game as it was too hard to compete.

Xiaomi Mi4c Launch Details Revealed; Has One Feature Not Found On Any Of The Company’s Phones

Xiaomi Mi4c is the next smartphone which is going to be released by one of the most popular smartphone brands in the world. According to the details that we have come across, Xiaomi Mi4c is going to be released much sooner than you would expect, and what is even more exciting is that it will sport a unique feature that is not present on any other Xiaomi mobile device so far.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/xiaomilogo-635x3572-635x357.png (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/xiaomilogo-635x3572.png)
Xiaomi Mi4c To Be Released On September 24 But The Company Is Only Going To Keep Its Units Limited To 100,000According to a leakster coming all the way from China, Xiaomi Mi4c is going to be released on September 24, after which consumers can purchase it starting from October 3. However, those who are actually serious about purchasing the handset will have to be extremely swift about it because the company has only ordered a 100,000 units to be made. The reason for that is quite simple which we will get to later but coming to the hardware side of things, Xiaomi Mi4c will sport a Snapdragon 808 (http://wccftech.com/mi-4c-xiaomi-smartphone-with-snapdragon-808/), and 2GB RAM underneath its hood.
One reason why the company is aiming to roll out limited units is because the company’s Redmi Note 2 (http://wccftech.com/xiaomi-redmi-note-2-benchmarking-leaks/) happens to be doing so well, Xiaomi might actually jeopardize the sales performance of its highly affordably, yet impressive smartphone. Additionally, after Xiaomi Mi4c, we might actually get to see a Helio X20 version (http://wccftech.com/xiaomi-redmi-note-2-released-powerful-chipset-future/) of Redmi Note 2, so the company could be saving up its capital for exactly that. Moreover, the rising Chinese smartphone OEM is aiming to reduce its dependency on Qualcomm and MediaTek by incorporating its custom cores in its affordable Redmi handset lineup.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/asdasd.png (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/asdasd.png)

In order to carry out its plan to fruition, the company will still need a hefty amount of money, which is another reason why the company could have decided to limit the number of units being made. As for the unique feature that we were talking about earlier, Xiaomi Mi4c has been leaked to feature a Type-C USB port, a port that is present on OnePlus 2.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/9846815egw1evln7kipxij20db0hlwfj.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/9846815egw1evln7kipxij20db0hlwfj.jpg)
One advantage of having a Type-C USB port is that it will deliver improved performance when you are transferring content between Xiaomi Mi4c and other storage related paraphernalia. What do you think about this smartphone so far? Would you ever think of purchasing one or will you wait for the Snapdragon 820 powered Mi5 (http://wccftech.com/xiaomi-mi5-pricing-details-leaked-will-put-oneplus-2-in-a-lot-of-trouble/). Xiaomi’s Mi 4 Running Windows 10 Mobile Build 10240 – Leaked Video

Xiaomi users will soon be able to try out the new Windows 10 Mobile preview builds as Windows Insider program is ready to start rolling for the Mi 4 smartphones. However, before the Insider program for Xiaomi is officially launched, a leaked Windows 10 Mobile 10240 (http://wccftech.com/windows-10-mobile-10240/) video showcases the preview build on a Mi 4.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/xiaomilogo-635x3572-635x357.png (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/xiaomilogo-635x3572.png)
Xiaomi Mi 4 running on Windows 10 Mobile 10240:While the Mi 4 users eagerly await to start testing the preview builds of Windows 10 Mobile (http://wccftech.com/windows-10-mobile-10512-released/) on their smartphones, a leaked video surfaced online shows that some Mi 4 handsets are already running the preview builds. Coming from China, this video (which you can watch here (http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XMTMxNDEzNjg1Ng==.html)) features the social networking site Weibo and messaging app popular in the country, QQ along with other apps and utilities. From the leaked Windows 10 Mobile video, it does seem like the upcoming operating system is running smoothly on the high-end Xiaomi Mi 4 handset.
Microsoft’s Joe Belfiore had tweeted about the Insider program for Xiaomi smartphones (http://wccftech.com/windows-10-coming-xiaomi-smartphone-owners/) back in July. He had promised that the Insider program will commence in China over the ‘next few weeks.’

The Xiaomi Mi5 Might Be Coming This Year As Teaser Surfaces

With all the hype these days surrounding Apple’s upcoming iPhone 6s launches and Google’s much talked about Nexus devices, one device seems to have been lost in all the chatter. Chinese smartphone starlet managed to impress quite a lot of folks with its reasonably priced, yet elegantly designed and spec’d Xiaomi Mi4. Well, the successor of the Mi4 has been long due from China’s end as well, and Xiaomi seems eager to be not left out in all the hype. The Xiaomi Mi5 sees a teaser image posted today and you can take a look at it below.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/xiaomi-mi5-leak-620x400.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/xiaomi-mi5-leak-620x400.jpg)
The Xiaomi Mi5 Sees Its First Teaser Today – Coming With Snapdragon 810?Dubbed as China’s Apple, Xiaomi was perhaps one of the first Android manufacturers to truly understand the importance of balance between aesthetics and top-tier performance. The Mi4 came boasting specifications worthy of a true flagship, but also came with a design that was strictly minimalist in nature, but managed to be aesthetically appeasing as well.
But the Mi4 was over a year back, and Xiaomi should be eager to rush its latest flagship smartphone out as well. With the Snapdragon 810 not performing up to pace, the Chinese manufacturer seems to be caught in quite a rut when it comes to the processor on its flagship. Several rumors have placed both the Snapdragon 820 and the Snapdragon 810 on the Xiaomi Mi5, but looks like the device might be coming with the latter.

But if today’s information is correct, then we might be getting to see the Mi5 this year, which means that the device should be coming with the Snapdragon 810. Xiaomi’s already released the Redmi Note this year with the processor, so perhaps the Chinese manufacturer has had plenty of time to rework the chipset. After all, the Note was said by Xiaomi to come with v2.1 of the Snapdragon 810, which allegedly managed to control throttling issues on the processor.
As 2015 reaches its final quarter, many manufacturers seem to be eager to leave their mark for the year, and we’ll be hear to update you as they do. We might be in for some interesting devices this year, so stay tuned and let us know what you think in the comments section below.

Rear Side Of Xiaomi Mi5 Leaked; Shows Completely New Charging Port And Impressive Design

With a string of Xiaomi Mi5 leaks coming through, it appears that the company’s upcoming flagship smartphone could be nearing its announcement date. According to the leaked image that we have come across, it appears that Xiaomi will spare no expensive in rolling out a premium quality smartphone that not only packs impressive hardware, but an affordable price, and even better appearance.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Xiaomi-Logo1-635x357.png (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Xiaomi-Logo1.png)
Xiaomi Mi5 Sports A Type-C USB Port, Along With A Beautifully Designed Chassis – Image Details Included The leaked image comes all the way from China, and according to the details that we can see in the image, the smartphone is going to be sport a Type-C USB port, which is the same kind of charging port that is present on OnePlus 2. The most notable difference between a MicroUSB port and a Type-C one is that the latter will be able to deliver the highest transferring speeds when you want to shift content from your smartphone to another machine.
Xiaomi Mi5 also sports a gorgeous chassis, and from what we can tell, the rear side of the handset is going to have a polished finish. There is also a camera lens present on the right side of the device, and we expect that it is going to be a 16MP shooter, and will effortlessly be able to capture 4K videos. The price of Xiaomi Mi5 is going to be extremely affordable (http://wccftech.com/xiaomi-mi5-pricing-details-leaked-will-put-oneplus-2-in-a-lot-of-trouble/), and will easily be able to give OnePlus 2 a run for its money in terms of offering consumers a price/performance handset.

Our previous report suggests that Xiaomi Mi5 will be available in the Snapdragon 810 and Snapdragon 820 chipsets variants (http://wccftech.com/xiaomi-mi-5-snapdragon-820-snapdragon-810-model/), with the former releasing this year, followed by the powerful one next year. It is also expected that the mobile device will receive an IP67 certification, making it water resistant up to a certain depth.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/ww.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/ww.jpg)
In terms of performance, the device is going to be nothing short of impressive, since a leaked benchmarking score (http://wccftech.com/xiaomi-mi5-benchmark-leak-shows-an-unbelievable-score/) revealed that Xiaomi Mi5 is able to score than Galaxy Note 5, making it a force to be reckoned with. At this point, these are all the details we have with us. From what you have gotten to know about the smartphone, will it be included in your bucket list, or will you wait for something even more impressive? Let us know your thoughts.

Xiaomi Mi4c Will Come In Two Models – Pricing Details Leaked As Well

Xiaomi Mi4c is slated for a September 24 release date (http://wccftech.com/xiaomi-mi4c-launch-details-revealed-one-unique-feature-present/), and we have got to know that there is not going to be one, but two models that are most probably going to introduced at the aforementioned date. Let us take a look at their hardware specifications.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Xiaomi-Logo2-635x357.png (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Xiaomi-Logo2.png)
Xiaomi Mi4c Will Also Be Available To Purchase In The 32gb Storage Model, Which Will Have 3GB Of RAM According to a source, Xiaomi Mi4c is going to be available in both the 16GB and 32GB storage models. The 16GB model is going to feature 2GB of RAM, while the 32GB storage model is going to sport 3GB of RAM. With this new revelation, the 3GB RAM model will obviously look to be the better model to purchase since the chipset running inside both devices is going to be Snapdragon 808.
It was also revealed that Xiaomi is going to be releasing just 100,000 units of its Mi4c, but with this new revelation, will it be 100,000 units for each model, making it a total of 200,000 units, or for both of them combined? Looks like we going to have to find out when the device is officially announced by the company. We suspect that apart from the storage and amount of RAM, the remaining specification details are going to remain constant between the two smartphones.

This will include a Type-C USB port, which will provide high transferring speeds when you want to move content from one device to the other, along with a large 3,080mAh battery. One primary reason why Xiaomi Mi4c is going to be available in a limited amount of units is because the company obviously does not the sales of its Redmi Note 2 (http://wccftech.com/xiaomi-redmi-note-2-benchmarking-leaks/) to suffer. Moreover, there is a possibility that the company will be releasing a more expensive, yet more powerful variant (http://wccftech.com/xiaomi-redmi-note-2-released-powerful-chipset-future/) of its Redmi Note 2, which is going to be packing a Helio X20 SoC, so the firm will need some adequate amount of resources in order to make this happen.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/asdsadsadasd.png (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/asdsadsadasd.png)
Coming to the pricing details of Xiaomi Mi4c, the 2GB RAM is going to be retailing for $220, which only means that the 3GB RAM model is going to carry an even larger price tag. Looks like all the elusive details will be known about both smartphones during this month. Do you guys feel that Xiaomi Mi4c is a worthy upgrade? Let us know your thoughts.

Both Xiaomi Mi4c Models Prices Leaked; Less Affordable Than Redmi Note 2

Before the announcement of Mi5, Xiaomi Mi4c is going to be available to purchase. However, there is not going to be one model that will be sold, but two of them (http://wccftech.com/xiaomi-mi4c-models-pricing-details-leaked/). Both models of Xiaomi Mi4c are going to sport different RAM and storage values, and in order to make your purchasing decision a little simpler, we were also able to come across the leaked prices of both models.

Both Models Of Xiaomi Mi4c Are Going To Be Much More Expensive As Compared To The Company’s Redmi Note 2The latest pricing leak of Xiaomi Mi4c shows that both smartphones are going to be far cheaper than LG G4. However, if consumers will still find the following pricing details a bit too steep for their wallet, then they can also go and purchase the next best thing; Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 (http://wccftech.com/xiaomi-redmi-note-2-benchmarking-leaks/).
One model of Xiaomi Mi4c is going to carry a price of 1,299 Yuan, which translates in to $204 USD. The better performing one will carry a price of 1,499 Yuan, which is equal to $236 USD. Keep in mind that the better performing model is going to feature 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, while the cheaper one is going to sport 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory. The remainder of the hardware configurations are going to remain the same, which includes a Type-C USB port (http://wccftech.com/xiaomi-mi4c-launch-details-revealed-one-unique-feature-present/), and a large 3,080mAh battery.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/ade51a57611e4535892046a1f60473a4.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/ade51a57611e4535892046a1f60473a4.jpg)

Previously, we have reported that Xiaomi was only going to release limited units its upcoming handset, which is all set to be announced on September 24. This is most likely because the company does not want the sales of its Redmi Note 2 to suffer, which has garnered quite a significant portion of the company’s revenue making mobile machines.
Additionally, the company will also need the extra monetary resources to inject in to the company’s custom cores, which are all said to appear in 2016. Furthermore, seeing as how there is only going to be a small performance difference between Redmi Note 2 and Xiaomi Mi4c (thanks to Snapdragon 808 being much more expensive as compared to Helio X10), the rising Chinese smartphone does not want to risk heavy losses at any cost.

This is all the information that we have at this current time. We will be able to do a comprehensive comparison between Xiaomi Mi4c and Redmi Note 2 when the former has officially landed in to markets, but so far, do you think that the device is a worthy purchase? Let us know your thoughts.

Xiaomi might miss sales targets

http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/e9873fb4a9128e9f25d42a1f10ba30a6_L.jpg (http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/e9873fb4a9128e9f25d42a1f10ba30a6_XL.jpg)

Still did pretty well
Xiaomi chairman Lei Jun’s prediction of his company selling 80 million to 100 million smartphones in 2015 might not be coming about after all.

When he made the prediction in March it was nearly possible as the firm sold 34.7 million handsets by July 2015 but as smartphone sales slumped even Xiaomi has suffered.
Huawei and Lenovo have stepped up their own efforts, making even the low-cost segment of the Chinese smartphone market tricky, particularly as they are mimicking Xiaomi’s tactics, of flash sales and viral marketing.
Jun isn’t too concerned about Xiaomi not hitting its smartphone sales target, he says it is more about the “rate of customer satisfaction” what ever that means.
He said he was pushed to come up with a smartphone sales figure for 2015, even though he had an inkling that the smartphone landscape in China for 2015 wouldn’t be as rosy as in years past.
Whether Xiaomi will repeat its success in China in other regions remains to be seen, though Jun is still optimistic about his company’s prospects.

Xiaomi Rumored To Be Working On Its Own Custom Processors – Custom Chipsets Was Already In Process

Xiaomi was rumored to be working on its own custom SoCs (http://wccftech.com/xiaomi-releasing-chipsets-2016-handsets-sport/), but it looks like the latest rumor states that the rising Chinese smartphone manufacturer has decided that it also wants to start working on its custom mobile processors.

Xiaomi Rumored To Be In Talks With Qualcomm For Processor Licensing Agreements – MediaTek Not Optimistic About Companies Making Their Own Processors According to the latest source, Xiaomi is in talks with Qualcomm to start mass producing its own custom mobile processors. For the longest time, companies like Apple have been designing their own cores, which would obviously have compelled Xiaomi to get into the race of developing its own chips. Huawei has been relying on its Kirin SoC lineup for all of its smartphones and tablets and they have been the backbone for the company’s immediate growth in a very competitive industry.
Xiaomi has also grown quite well, but for it to grow even further, the company’s executives will have to make a few drastic changes. However, MediaTek, Qualcomm’s biggest rival in the mobile chipset industry is of the opposite opinion. According to the company, the costs of developing processors are extremely high, and if a company is selling less than 200-300 million units in a period of 12 months, then developing independent processors is not a profitable business. We are not sure why MediaTek would say such a thing, particularly when so many other firms like ZTE and Lenovo have also intended to start mass production of their own processors.

Perhaps the Taiwanese company said this because it does not like the idea that so many potential clients might not require the company to start producing mobile chipsets, which will obviously force MediaTek to lose a substantial market share in the near future. However, if what MediaTek says is true, then it looks like Xiaomi is going to keep its production at a much lower level and continue to rely on Qualcomm and MediaTek for mobile chipsets. Once the company starts to see sufficient traction in smartphone and tablet sales, then Xiaomi will slowly start to rely less on these firms.
For now, it definitely is not going to be easy for Xiaomi, seeing as how the smartphone industry is not getting any less competitive (http://wccftech.com/heres-why-the-ceo-of-xiaomi-is-not-worried-about-slipping-smartphone-sales/). We will continue to update you guys on the latest but do you guys think that Xiaomi has a much better chance of growing by developing its own processors? Let us know your thoughts.

Xiaomi misses sales targets by 10 million

http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/c274d43f3a66c07910f3f0eeb8044314_L.jpg (http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/c274d43f3a66c07910f3f0eeb8044314_XL.jpg)

But what is 10 million between friends?
The Western Press is having a field day after Xiaomi failed to meet its rather ambitious target of flogging 80 million handsets in 2015.

Smartphone maker Xiaomi admitted that it had shipped more than 70 million handsets in 2015 which given the fact it was peddling phones in a depressed market and didn't even exist five years ago whe thing is pretty good. Xiaomi is doing its best to put some positive spin on the numbers.
A photo featuring Xiaomi President Lin Bin which was posted on the company's microblog with the banner: "2015 Xiaomi cellphone shipments: Over 70 million!"
He had previiously claimed that the company would sell 80-100 million, but then in July reported semi-annual sales that for the first time were lower than the previous six months. Xiaomi has discovered that its main domestic market was saturated. Getting 70 million is preety close to the ambitious target.
What is strange about this news is that the Tame Apple Press is cheering that the news was proof that Apple will win in China as Xiaomi was seen as its only rival (http://www.reuters.com/article/us-china-xiaomi-idUSKCN0UT0JR). This is rubbish of course, but it does not stop Reuters repeating it. The best that Apple could have sold in China was 20 million. Xiaomi’s main rival is Lenovo and Huawei who are also ahead of Apple.

Xiaomi's annual sales growth for the year was now 14.5 percent, he said, still above the average overall annual market growth rate of 12 percent. Shah forecast 2016 growth at 16 percent, based on expectations that Xiaomi will start sales in the United States, Latin America and Eastern Europe.

Xiaomi Phones to Introduce Song Recognition for Humming

http://i2.wp.com/www.eteknix.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/hum-recognition-1.jpg?resize=800%2C684
While song recognition apps like Shazam and SoundHound are able to ‘hear’ a piece of music and tell you the name of the song and recording artist, they are not yet able to delve into your brain to tell you just what that earworm that has been bothering you for days is called. Emerging Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi, though, hopes to bring you the next best thing: recognising a song based purely on your melodic humming.
In partnership with ACRCloud – a Beijing company that provides song recognition software – Xiaomi hopes to introduce the feature to its newest smartphones, and is already testing a beta version with the help of a few thousand users.
http://i2.wp.com/www.eteknix.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/hum-recognition-2.jpg?resize=576%2C1024
SoundHound has recently introduced a similar feature to its app, which requires an existing hum track to be associated with the song in question in order to work, but ACRCloud hopes that its more advanced system will require no such base track.
“To add one song into [SoundHound’s] database, it must look for at least one user to sing or hum the melody without instrumental accompaniment,” Tony Li, a representative with ACRCloud, told Mashable (http://mashable.com/2016/02/16/xiaomi-acrcloud/?utm_cid=mash-com-Tw-tech-link%23sd613jsnjlqd#__IQvezSgaqO). Instead, ACRCloud’s technology will extract the melodies of songs in its database and compare it directly to the hummed track.
Mashable tested the humming recognition feature, reporting that it accurately detected the majority of songs within 20 seconds.
