The Final Fantasy XV demo has a release date and trailer (http://www.kitguru.net/gaming/matthew-wilson/the-final-fantasy-xv-demo-has-a-release-date-and-trailer/)

The Final Fantasy XV demo has received a release date and a trailer. The demo will be called ‘The Episode of Duscae’ and will come bundled with early copies of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, which is due to launch on the 20th of March this year in Europe and the 17th in the US for the Xbox One and PS4.
The Episode of Duscae demo for Final Fantasy XV will also launch on these dates, meaning that those who pre-ordered Type-0 HD can jump straight in. The trailer has also launched, which you can watch below:

The trailer starts off with scenes from Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, with Final Fantasy XV coming in towards the end.
Final Fantasy XV had been in development for many years now, it was originally supposed to release as Final Fantasy Versus XIII several years ago. The release of this demo hopefully means that the game is actually finally coming out.

Estas personagens principais devem ser as piores de sempre num FF. Parecem uns douchbags ricos e mimados.

Para quem já foi fã da saga, é triste ver o caminho que o FF seguiu nos últimos jogos. Mesmo triste.

Thanks to the latest Active Time Report, we have three new videos showcasing gameplay in Final Fantasy XV, and this time they’re in English.
The videos, introduced by Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata, show the approach to a dungeon, played on Xbox One, and inside the dungeon, taken from the PS4 version. Finally, we have a BBC-esque “World of Wonder” documentary, which shows off some of the weird and wonderful creatures that inhabit the game’s milieu.

Backstory
When you’ve spent your entire life looking out at the serrated city skyline, it’s easy to lose yourself in the sprawling Duscaen landscape. The prince and his retinue were halfway to Cauthess when their daydreams came to a sudden, screeching halt—the Regalia’s last gasp before giving out to the unpaved backroads.
Now they were truly lost in the landscape: broken down by the side of the road with the Disc well out of walking distance. The Archaean, Titan, would have to wait. He’d been dormant for ages anyway. The first order of business was getting back on four wheels.

Final Fantasy XV Episode Duscae is bundled with Final Fantasy Type-0 HD. It is a short demo aimed at giving the players an early look at the game mechanics, exploration and the graphics of Final Fantasy XV.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=174DXJTt5pU

According to Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata, players will get two hours of gameplay out of Final Fantasy XV: Episode Duscae; this can be increased to three or four hours if they really dive into it. The demo will take place in the Duscae region near the beginning of the game, which has been showcased in the E3 2014 trailers. The area includes at least a road, a gas station, and wilderness with wild animals, grassy plains, and forests, as well as mountainous areas overflowing with trees and caves that can be tricky to find. There won’t be any towns in the demo, but there will be a number of outposts and little facilities as well as “fun and interesting” human interactions, some comical. Chocobos will be in the demo and there will be a chocobo ranch, but the player won’t be able to ride them. The demo will be seamless, although the full game will likely have some load times for important scenes.

Final Fantasy XV Episode Duscae will feature a prototype summon system and an Eidolon Episode Duscae will limit open world aspects, but it will still be wide-ranging. Players can fight monsters and explore dungeons, although dungeons are optional. The passage of time (a day being 45 minutes long) and camping will be present in the demo. Night time is dangerous and different monsters lurk during in the dark. The demo will focus on battle. Noctis’s “Phantom Sword” will be usable.
The demo will have a prototype summon system and an Eidolon to show players how to tame and use one. Which Eidolon it will be is not known yet, but it will not be Titan. One quest in the demo is finding phantom swords for Noctis’s special ability. The party members will point out details from the environment to uncover the quests. After beating the main scenario there is an ending and more things are unlocked for the player to go back and do.
Final Fantasy Type-0 HD will be released on March 17, 2015 for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Final Fantasy XV Episode Duscae will be bundled with the game.

The Final Fantasy XV demo is getting an update (http://www.kitguru.net/gaming/matthew-wilson/the-final-fantasy-xv-demo-is-getting-an-update/)

Square Enix took an odd approach with its Final Fantasy XV demo, for starters, it is only available to those that bought Final Fantasy Type-0HD and now in an effort to step out of the box even further, the publisher is updating the XV demo, fixing up some bugs, balancing the combat and improving overall performance.
In May, those that have the Final Fantasy XV demo installed will receive a Jetpack (http://www.kitguru.net/wp-admin/admin.php?page=jetpack)version 2.00 update, enhancing the co-op move system, the camera targeting system, adding in some new combat actions and removing a few bugs. For those who haven’t had a chance to play, the Final Fantasy XV demo is essentially a three-hour or so slice of the final game, which is currently slated for a 2015 release.
http://www.kitguru.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/16.jpg (http://www.kitguru.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/16.jpg)
The demo update will reportedly work on stabilizing the frame rate as well. Right now, both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 dip to around 25 frames per second while running Final Fantasy XV: Episode Duscae, according to a Digital Foundry report (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2015-final-fantasy-15-episode-duscae-tech-analysis).
While Final Fantasy XV does not have an official release date just yet, Square Enix did recently announce that it will be hosting its own E3 press conference alongside Bethesda, Microsoft and Sony. Since the publisher is hosting its very own conference this year, it is safe to assume that they have some big announcements to share.

Final Fantasy XV New Tech Video Shows Stunning Graphical Effects

During the latest Active Time Report Broadcast, Final Fantasy XV Director Hajime Tabata explained that the story has been changed from the original Final Fantasy Versus XIII.

<iframe width="635" height="388" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/6u3jd4IyMso" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

The developers tried to retain as many elements as possible, while considering what was feasible on the new hardware.
http://cdn2.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Final-Fantasy-XV-1-635x435.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Final-Fantasy-XV-1.jpg)
The developers remained as faithful to the original story albeit with some changes Some changes have been made, including a few main points:

The team found it difficult to fit Stella in Final Fantasy XV, so she won’t be included in the game.
They instead created a new heroine, Luna, who has a different role in the game.
The sequence in which Insomnia is attacked by enemy troops and Noctis fights there (which appeared at E3 2015) is no more part of the game.
There will still be gameplay in Insomnia, but it won’t be around the same time line. Tabata-san promised that they will be great, and encouraged fans to look forward to thekm.
The woman with black hair and the female dragoon are still in the game and have an important role.

<iframe width="635" height="388" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/ZeIxyPzaToo" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

There will be no new trailer for Final Fantasy XV at E3 2015 Episode Duscae 2.0 was originally planned for a late-May release, but was delayed to in order to polish the game further, and improve performance. Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata explains that they were able to hit most of their major milestones in time for the patch and have managed to included it all in the latest update.
It was revealed that there will be no new trailer or info planned for Final Fantasy XV at E3 2015, but rather we are going to learn more about the game at Gamescom. A new Active Time Report is also planned to be streamed live from the event stage.
Final Fantasy XV Episode Duscae 2.0 update will be out on PS4 and Xbox One on June 9th 2015.
We will bring you any new information on Final Fantasy XV as soon as it becomes available.

Stunning FFXV Trailer Keeps Gamers Drooling About The Game

Square Enix has just released a new FFXV trailer called Dawn, finally showing new bits of the story related to the main protagonist, Noctis Lucis Caelum(also Crown Prince of Lucis).
It had been a long time since we got a brand new FFXV trailer, so savor this one as there’s no telling when we’ll have another one. Final Fantasy XV, running on the proprietary Luminous Engine, still has no release date and it’s fair to assume that it won’t launch until 2016 at the earliest.
Right now, the game is only scheduled to hit PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, though there’s a good chance that it will be available at some point for PC as well – Square Enix has recently increased their PC support by releasing Final Fantasy XIII, with Final Fantasy TYPE-0 HD hitting Steam (http://store.steampowered.com/app/340170/) in a couple of weeks.

Final Fantasy XV will launch sometime next year (http://www.kitguru.net/gaming/matthew-wilson/final-fantasy-xv-will-launch-sometime-next-year/)

It looks like Final Fantasy XV will finally release next year, according to the game’s Director, Hajime Tabata. The game has been in development on and off since 2006, initially for the PlayStation 3. Over the years, the game has been through plenty of changes but it looks like fans of the series will finally be able to play on the Xbox One and PS4 next year.
When asked by GameSpot (http://www.gamespot.com/articles/report-final-fantasy-15-release-date-confirmed-for/1100-6429527/) about Square Enix’s plans to reveal Final Fantasy XV’s release date, Hajime Tabata said: “At the very least, I can tell you that it isn’t going to be released this year. I think we’ll be able to tell you when we’re making the announcement around PAX Prime, at the end of this month.”
http://www.kitguru.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/16-e1438871652382.jpg (http://www.kitguru.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/16-e1438871652382.jpg)
Square Enix didn’t bring a whole lot to Gamescom this year, so when the site pointed out (http://www.gamespot.com/articles/report-final-fantasy-15-release-date-confirmed-for/1100-6429527/) that fans may struggle to stay excited throughout such a lengthy development process, Tabata said: “I understand why people are feeling that way after coming to Cologne and speaking to a lot of the media. We really do get the feeling that people are a bit worried. Certainly, one thing I would like to say to them to reassure them, is that we’ve set down the release date, we know when it is, and we’ve got a complete road map lined up, right up to launch, and we’re proceeding along that as planned.”
“We can certainly say to people: it’s not going to be 2017. It’s going to be before that”. So there we go, Final Fantasy is launching before 2017 and it’s not launching this year, so expect the game sometime in 2016.

Final Fantasy 15 will release in 2016, new demo incoming

With almost a full decade in development, fans are quite eager to finally get their hands on Final Fantasy 15...but up until now Square Enix has been quiet on any kind of release info. According to game director Hajime Tabata, the wait is almost over, and the devs have some extra goodies to share during the wait.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8gvUy5Md30

"At the very least, I can tell you that it isn't going to be released this year," Tabata said in an interview with GameSpot (http://www.gamespot.com/articles/final-fantasy-15-release-date-confirmed-for-2016/1100-6429527/). "We can certainly say to people: it's going to be before 2017. I think we'll be able to tell you when we're making the announcement around PAX Prime, at the end of this month."

Sadly this isn't the fully fledged release date confirmation that gamers had hoped for. Square Enix seemed to be teasing something big for Gamescom 2015 and everyone thought at long last a release date would be announced. Amid this disappointment Tabata affirms that Square Enix has indeed set a release date for Final Fantasy 15, and that a strategic plan is in place.

"I understand why people are feeling [disappointed] after coming to Cologne and speaking to a lot of the media. We really do get the feeling that people are a bit worried. Certainly, one thing I would like to say to them to reassure them, is that we've set down the release date, we know when it is, and we've got a complete road map lined up, right up to launch, and we're proceeding along that as planned."

In lieu of a release date gamers received a new story trailer (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FXMJTGna_xA) and a hefty chunk of new details to chew on. The newly released Active Time Report highlights a number of revelations that help paint a clearer picture of the studio's magnum opus--from story details to game mechanics and even another playable demo testing phase.

image: http://imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/4/6/46933_2_final-fantasy-15-release-2016-new-demo-incoming.jpg (http://www.tweaktown.com/image.php?image=imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/4/6/46933_2_final-fantasy-15-release-2016-new-demo-incoming_full.jpg)
http://imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/4/6/46933_2_final-fantasy-15-release-2016-new-demo-incoming.jpg

The report maintains that Final Fantasy 15 keeps the original morose sentiments of FF13 Versus, with Tabata himself saying that the game will be the "saddest, most dramatic storyline in the series". This drama is accomplished by focusing on the bonds between a father and son as well as friendship, and we can expect a number of disastrous calamities that push these bonds to their limit.

Final Fantasy 15 will also feature a tremendous counterforce to Noctis' struggle. The main antagonist, who is largely still unknown other than his male gender, is going to "top all the other Final Fantasy villains" in brute strength. Expect chaotic magic of the darkest kind and probably some massive demonic summons to boot.

As far as mechanics, the game's Cross Chain system will be heavily revamped to contrast the one featured in Episode Duscae. Square is determined to tap user feedback to shape a game that the community wants to play. Speaking of which, Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy 15 will get a second playable demo test, although actual details remain scarce.

We'll likely see a full release date announcement and info on the new test demo phase later this month at PAX Prime, and even next month during Tokyo Game Show 2015.

Here’s Three New FFXV Screenshots To Tide You Over

Square Enix just released to the press three new FFXV screenshots, which you can find below along with a small excerpt on the locations. Hopefully they’ll be enough to quench your thirst for a little while – at Gamescom 2015, Square Enix said that the game is 65% completed, but it also hinted via Director Hajime Tabata that Final Fantasy XV will be released “before 2017 (http://www.gamespot.com/articles/final-fantasy-15-release-date-confirmed-for-2016/1100-6429527/)“.
The game is currently scheduled to launch on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but in a recent interview (http://www.dualshockers.com/2015/08/06/final-fantasy-xv-director-talks-frame-rate-on-ps4-and-xbix-one-pc-might-be-considered-after-launch/) Tabata mentioned that a PC version might be considered after the initial release on consoles. Considering that Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Type-O HD have been ported to Steam, there’s a good chance that this one will appear as well eventually.
What’s your current hype level for the new installment in the revered RPG series? Let us know in the comments, and don’t forget to check out the latest story trailer (http://wccftech.com/stunning-ffxv-trailer-keeps-gamers-drooling-about-the-game/) released for Gamescom 2015.

The four continue their drive along the clear river, passing through the coniferous trees.
Should they go full speed straight toward their destination, or take time and explore the surroundings? It is up to players to choose.

'Final Fantasy XV' Makes A Gamescom Appearance

<article id="news-content" class="content innerB20 line vibrantContent KonaBody"> http://media.bestofmicro.com/7/3/517359/gallery/C1_w_600.jpg (http://www.tomshardware.com/gallery/C1,0101-517359-0-2-12-1-jpg-.html)
Since the change of the game's title from Final Fantasy Versus XIII to Final Fantasy XV at E3 2013 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rbwm-mzm5QA), we haven't seen or heard that much from Square Enix on the latest from its most beloved franchise. Compared to other big-budget titles, details are slim, with the game making a few select appearances throughout the year. One of those appearances this year was at Gamescom, with the release of two trailers showing off gameplay and a fraction of the storyline.
Unlike other trailers — for example, the Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (http://www.tomshardware.com/news/mgsv-mother-base-demo-gamescom,29773.html) demos — these were short clips, lasting less than four minutes. Gameplay footage showed the main character, Noctis, and his friends as they traversed a large forest area. They eventually encounter a swamp, which Noctis decides to explore. However, he's unaware that its home to the Malboro, a giant plant with tentacles. Battle ensues with the beast, but it eventually uses its Bad Breath attack, crippling most of the party, and killing Noctis as well.

Final Fantasy XV Malboro Gameplay At Gamescom

The Malboro has been one of the staples of the series, so its appearance is expected in the game. However, it seems that the purpose of the trailer was to give fans an idea of how the game will be presented when it comes out on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Then again, many visual changes are bound to occur between now and its eventual release date.
There was another clip titled "Dawn," which gave viewers another glimpse of the game's story. We see a city under some type of heavy military presence, with a long line in the vehicle checkpoint. However, it seems that there are more pressing matters at hand, as we cut to a father, King Regis of Lucis, holding his sleeping son, Noctis.
Regis is saddened, as he knows he has to leave his son soon. In front of him stands a large structure, and the mirage of three giants appears in the sky behind it as Regis prepares to leave his son behind, putting him next in line as heir to the family throne. Details are still slim as to the events that caused the separation between father and son, but hopefully we'll know more soon in the coming months.

Final Fantasy XV "Dawn" Gamescom Trailer

One thing that these trailers don't show is an actual release date for the game. The early foundations for the game started in 2006 (http://www.ign.com/articles/2006/05/31/gaimaga-blows-out-final-fantasy-xiii) under its original title, Final Fantasy Versus XIII. Once again, the rumor mill churned during Gamescom, with reports saying that the game will come out next year. However, the game's director, Hajime Tabata (http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2015/08/06/final-fantasy-xv-is-65-percent-done-release-date-in-sight.aspx), pointed out that while the game will not be out this year, he would not be too happy about the game being pushed to a release date in 2017. Interpret that as you will.
If you really want to get your hands on an early version of Final Fantasy XV, there's always the Episode Duscae demo that comes with the first-print versions of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD. For now, the waiting game continues.

FFXV Will Get More Fantastic During The Game; Team Is Trying Hard To Add Airships

Final Fantasy XV (FFXV for short) has been more or less confirmed to launch in 2016 (http://wccftech.com/heres-three-new-ffxv-screenshots-to-tide-you-over/), but there are still many unknown elements to it.
A lenghty interview (http://www.finaland.com/?rub=site&page=news&id=5516) conducted during Gamescom by fansites Finaland, Final Fantasy World and Final Fantasy Dream sheds some light on certain topics. For instance, quite a few gamers had expressed their worry about realistic elements being prevalent in FFXV, but Square Enix’s Hajime Tabata explained that the game will get more fantastic as the plot unfolds.

To reassure you, the construction of the game and the way the areas differ throughout the game starts out as a world very much based on reality. It feels more solid and more grounded in reality. As the game progresses, you will certainly more fantastic, otherworldly kind of elements. You will see these different tastes, this kind of magical and superb ideas that you see in previous Final Fantasy games will be seen close to the end of the game. It’s all in there.
Tabata also reiterated that Square Enix is trying very hard to add airships in the game, while underwater battles are very low right now in their development priority.

There is a difference in how important these two features you mentioned are. To start with airships, we are still trying very hard to get them in the final game… if we can. Ideally, if we had enough time and resources for the development, we would spend that time working out the technology to get airships into the game, making sure it all fits in and polishing it to the level it needs to be. We still may achieve that, because we really want to, but if we can’t, we need a back-up plan, because unfortunately we don’t have unlimited amount of time and money to do this game. When we changed over the project, we decided that we can’t keep people waiting beyond 2016. We have to get the game out in the best possible state it can be at that time within the budget we’ve set. If we can’t get it into the game at that point, we think the best option is to add it after rather than just give up on it. I made this announcement to let people know that we understand Final Fantasy fans love airships and that, if we can’t get them into the game in the form they need to be, then it is better to have them later in the right form rather than force them in an incomplete form that would be unsatisfactory.
Compared to that, underwater battles are quite low among our development priorities because they are not so necessary for the game to be what it should be, and because some elements are much more important to include. In terms of priorities, even more important than having airships or underwater battles to me, the real core of FFXV is that it should be a game which has the high level of technology to support the ultimate story experience. This is what we are prioritizing in the development of the game.
If we made the decision to not include the airships in the final game, we maybe wouldn’t need to go through these discussions and try and get that technology. But the reason why we pushing ahead to try and close the discussions to get that is because there are a lot of people like you out there who want to see airships in the game. We are trying to get them in in any way possible that we can.
FFXV team also enlisted the help of Avalanche Studios (who is working with Square Enix to publish Just Cause 3), as their technology could aid with the implementation of airships. Would you be disappointed if they didn’t make it into the final game?

Final Fantasy Launching Same-Day Worldwide

Final Fantasy fans are going to get to play the latest game in the RPG series in unison, no matter where they live. In an interview with Gamespot (http://www.gamespot.com/articles/final-fantasy-15-will-get-simultaneous-worldwide-r/1100-6429672/) director Hajime Tabata confirmed the game will get a simultaneous launch worldwide.

Previous Final Fantasy games have always released in Japan before other territories with several months between their release in Japan and hitting stores in other regions.

During the interview Tabata admitted it was the first time they'd tried a global launch "This may be something that we are little bit embarrassed to talk about, but really, this is the first time that we've done a packaged, standalone Final Fantasy game with a simultaneous global launch"

It's giving the team new challenges: "We didn't have the setup to deal with that, really. The first thing we had to do was rearrange our internal structure to create something that could do that. That was the first important work on the project."

Final Fantasy 15 was first announced at E3 2006, over 9 years ago. A recent beta was well received. Committing to a global launch means that Square Enix are going to have to push through extensive localisation while still developing the game. While this is likely to be a struggle on such a word-heavy JRPG, the change is bound to win it some plaudits.

Not to mention it'll cut back on spoilers.

Final Fantasy 15 is to release worldwide on PS4 and Xbox One sometime in 2016.

Final Fantasy 15 almost had VR support

Final Fantasy 15 has seen lots of transitions during its storied development, including an experimental phase centered around immersive VR experiences.

image: http://imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/4/7/47330_3_final-fantasy-15-vr-support.jpg (http://www.tweaktown.com/image.php?image=imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/4/7/47330_3_final-fantasy-15-vr-support_full.jpg)
http://imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/4/7/47330_3_final-fantasy-15-vr-support.jpg

Instead of forcing gamers to strap on an Oculus Rift for hours on end, Square Enix toyed with the idea of using VR for certain sections of the game in order to immerse players into the overall experience. "We had tested out utilizing VR," Square Enix's Hajime Tabata told IGN (http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/08/30/pax-2015-square-enix-tested-out-vr-support-for-final-fantasy-15?utm_campaign=ign+main+twitter&utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social) at PAX 2015. "At the time we were looking into it, we felt that it could potentially work as a passive experience for a portion of the game utilizing VR."

In the end, the devs decided that VR just wasn't a good fit for their action-based RPG--especially with that finicky targeting camera which would induce dizzying motion sickness."We felt that it would potentially make sense for a segment, but in terms of the overall game in itself, the entire game, we didn't feel that having that headset on for the entirety of the game and that experience would match what we were aiming for with XV. It's a very long game [and] you'd wear that headset for hours."

Maybe one day we'll see some of the game's VR prototypes, but for now we can only guess as to what the studio had up their sleeves. Wearing an HMD for combat probably would be quite jarring (again with the floating camera) but an optional non-combat exploration mode would be amazing.

image: http://imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/4/7/47330_4_final-fantasy-15-vr-support.jpg (http://www.tweaktown.com/image.php?image=imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/4/7/47330_4_final-fantasy-15-vr-support_full.jpg)
http://imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/4/7/47330_4_final-fantasy-15-vr-support.jpg

The Episode Duscae demo (http://www.primagames.com/games/final-fantasy-xv/feature/final-fantasy-15-episode-duscae-demo-exploration) alone showcased the astounding flora and fauna that the kingdom of Lucis has to offer. VR immersion could work wonders with cinematic cutscenes as well and give players a more intimate experience of the game's story and characters.

However, splitting the game up for the sake of VR would be counter-intuitive to Square Enix's vision. Final Fantasy 15 has a seamless, natural flow that gracefully transitions from beautiful exploration to fully-fledged combat at any turn. So when we add the discomfort and weariness of prolonged VR exposure to carving up the game's open-world scope, it's easy to see why the devs opted to nix VR support. Hopefully one day we can comfortably play long RPG sessions in virtual reality, but that probably won't happen anytime soon.

Tabata also revealed that Final Fantasy 15's release date will be unveiled during a special event in March 2016.

Square Enix also hosted their latest Active Time Report for Final Fantasy XV at PAX Prime 2015, where director Hajime Tabata shared the latest on the hugely anticipated title. Confirming a 2016 release, a showcase of concept art, new in-game footage and the ATR exclusive FFXV Progress Report Vol. 1. You can watch the whole report below.

“Sorry I wasn’t very straightforward in making those comments at the previous event,” Tabata said. “I want to take this opportunity at PAX Prime to announce that we will officially release Final Fantasy XV in 2016.”

Here’s what it’s like to drive in Final Fantasy XV (http://www.kitguru.net/gaming/development/jon-martindale/heres-what-its-like-to-drive-in-final-fantasy-xv/)

Square’s recent announcement of a Final Fantasy VII HD remastering might have players pumped for a bit of airship travel once again, but that’s not how you’ll get about in Final Fantasy XV. In a new trailer for the game shown off at PAX, we saw how players will instead cruise along highways in a sweet looking car, hairmetal hair blowing in the wind.
http://www.kitguru.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/regalia.jpg (http://www.kitguru.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/regalia.jpg)
There’s a choice of driving style too, where players can take the wheel themselves if they prefer to be in control of the experience, or sit back and let one of their companion characters take over, giving players the chance to chat to other characters and take in the scenery. It’s not an entirely passive experience though, as gamers can stop the car whenever and wherever they want, getting out to view the surroundings or find something to battle.

<iframe width="640" height="385" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/EFjWAJR97Xk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Another trailer released during the show, gives fans of the series a progress report of sorts on how different aspects of the game are coming together. Everything from attack animations, to companion AI pathfinding are covered. As a Monster Hunter fan, I must admit, I got rather excited to see the player character sever a giant monster’s horn.

'Final Fantasy XV' Shows New Driving Footage, Announces 2016 Release Window At PAX Prime

http://media.bestofmicro.com/V/1/523405/gallery/Concept-Art_w_300.jpg (http://www.tomshardware.com/gallery/Concept-Art,0101-523405-0-2-6-1-jpg-.html)
After making an appearance at Gamescom, the Final Fantasy XV team traveled to Seattle to hold a special session of its Active Time Report show at PAX Prime. The two speakers were the game's director, Hajime Tabata, and the marketing manager, Akio Ofuji. Aside from updating fans on the development process, both men also talked about the game's release date and showed new gameplay footage.
Arriving Soon One of the initial topics during the discussion was about Tabata's comments at Gamescom regarding the game's release date. Rumors surfaced at the show, claiming the game was set for release next year. Tabata neither confirmed nor denied the rumors, only saying that he would not be pleased if the game arrived in 2017.
At PAX Prime, he clarified his comments, saying that he only said it to address concerns, adding that the heads of Square Enix were not happy, to say the least, that he said anything about the release date at all.
In less than a month, the company seems to have reversed its mood about the release date statement, and although specifics were left out, Tabata confirmed that the game will be available some time in 2016.
More details are bound to appear in the coming months, specifically during the Tokyo Game Show, as well as other announcements in the winter. The exact release date, however, won't be revealed until a special event slated for March 2016. This allows the team to coordinate its collaboration efforts as well as to continue to improve the game.
Progress Report During development, it's uncommon for developers to reveal the intricacies of the overall progress. Still, this didn't stop Tabata from showing fans various portions of the game that still need work from the team. With the help of a few video clips, he showed the status of a few parts of the game in progress, such as making the fire effects more realistic, enabling party members to follow the protagonist (Noctis) when he climbs a ladder, and fine-tuning combat gameplay.
There was also a series of concept artwork that was shown at Gamescom, but fans watching the livestream a few weeks ago couldn't see it due to technical difficulties. Tabata and Ofuji also made a point to show the artwork as well as a few comparisons to the final product in-game -- which was nearly identical, with the only difference being changes to lighting and enhanced details.
The Open Road The focus of the new, revealed gameplay was the Regalia, the car frequently used by Noctis and his friends throughout the story. Previously owned by Noctis's father, King Regis, Tabata highlighted a few features of the game's driving aspect.
The player can choose from one of two modes of travel with the Regalia, auto or manual. Auto puts one of Noctis's friends as the driver, leaving the player, as Noctis, to sit in the back seat and just admire the scenery. Manual implies that Noctis will take over the wheel and drive the team. Both modes allow Noctis the ability to get out at anytime, putting a stop to the trip to explore areas, restock supplies or fight enemies in the vicinity.
http://media.bestofmicro.com/V/2/523406/gallery/Progress-Report_w_600.jpg (http://www.tomshardware.com/gallery/Progress-Report,0101-523406-0-2-12-1-jpg-.html)While the car is moving, players can choose from one of four views -- driver, joyride, tail and scenic -- to see the characters and the world around them. Tabata added that the car is obviously fueled by gasoline, and players need to be mindful about it during the game as it can run out, forcing players to get out and push the car to a safe location while searching for more fuel.
Next On Agenda With March 2016 firmly set as the release date reveal, Tabata and the rest of the development team will continue to talk more about various aspects of the game in the coming months. Fortunately, we know that the next Active Time Report show will be at the Tokyo Game Show in a few weeks. Tabata will talk about another character, Lunafreya Nox Fleuret, as well as the game's fishing activity and the ever-popular creature known as the "chocobo."

No Trade-Offs To Include Moogles in Final Fantasy XV; Will Be A Fun Little Extra

Final Fantasy XV game director Hajime Tabata has responded to the amazing amount of response the team received, following the possible inclusion of Moogles in Final Fantasy XV.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Final-Fantasy-XV-3-635x357.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Final-Fantasy-XV-3.jpg)
Last week a poll was created, to include Moogles in the upcoming Final Fantasy XV. The developer on the game already responded that they can’t guarantee that Moogles will be included in the final game, but promised that the team will see what they can do to include the fantasy creatures in the game.
The developer later teased that, the more followers and votes, the more leverage to include Moogles in the game.

Final Fantasy XV Pre-Beta Already Runs Fully on PC

http://i1.wp.com/www.eteknix.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/FFXV.png?resize=800%2C513
Square Enix seem to be making a habit of porting games from their Final Fantasy RPG series to the PC. The more recent Final Fantasy XIII series of games are already available on Steam, and PC ports of many of the older games from their console homes mean that almost all of the epic franchise is now open to PC gamers. PC owning Final Fantasy fans will be pleased to hear that Final Fantasy XV programmer Satoshi Kitade announced on the official Square Enix forums (https://forum.finalfantasyxv.com/discussion/comment/12174/#Comment_12174) that the pre-beta build of Final Fantasy XV runs on the PC (http://www.dsogaming.com/news/final-fantasy-xv-pre-beta-build-already-running-on-the-pc-playable-from-beginning-to-end/) and is fully playable in its entirety.
Now, this doesn’t mean that Final Fantasy XV has been confirmed for a PC release yet, it certainly puts it on the cards for the future, if Square Enix is already putting in the effort to make such an early version of the game run well on PC. It will hardly be surprising if we see a PC release of XV announced following its console release.
The real question then, is time. It took them 5 years to bring the original FFXIII to the PC (albeit poorly optimized), but only 2 for its sequels, XIII-2 and Lightning Returns. With XV already running on PC before its console release, it could be as short as months after console release that XV is available for PC. Who knows, maybe FFXVI, whenever it happens, will have a simultaneous release across all platforms.

Final Fantasy XV Director Assures 2016 Release In New Year’s Letter

Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata has posted a New Year’s letter in which he wishes everyone a happy new year, and reconfirms that Final Fantasy XV will finally be releasing in 2016.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/final-fantasy-xv_walking-635x357.jpg
Final Fantasy XV has been in development for several years. The RPG, originally named Final Fantasy Versus VIII, was announced by Square Enix back in 2013. To celebrate the announcement back then, Square Enix released an E3 2013 announcement trailer , which can be seen below.

<iframe width="635" height="388" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/mO92sHr4knM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

The armed forces of Niflheim launch a devastating assault upon the Kingdom of Lucis, casting Crown Prince Noctis and his comrades out of their homes and into the fray. The engaging tale to follow draws audiences into an awe-inspiring world steeped in the rich storytelling traditions of SQUARE ENIX’s renowned First Production Development Team.
Fans of the series have been eagerly waiting for a release date since then, but Square Enix has only revealed that the game will be releasing somewhere in 2016.Development on the RPG has been slow, and many fans don’t expect the series to be actually released in 2016. A 2016 release frame was announced at PAX Prime in August 2015.
“We’re proud of our technical capabilities and the work we’ve done to help shape the open-world genre,” said Sundberg. “We hold the FINAL FANTASY franchise, and the team working on it, in such high regard and are excited to be a part of the next chapter”, said Chief Creative Officer Christofer Sundberg, during the event.
Alongside the announcement, a ‘driving’ gameplay for the game was released by Square Enix.

<iframe width="635" height="388" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Yss4yuuMX6c" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Although some might not believe a 2016 release any longer, Final Fantasy XV director Tabata has reconfirmed a 2016 release today (http://na.square-enix.com/us/blog/happy-new-year-message-hajime-tabata). In his New Year’s letter, Tabata writes that the final phase of development, will “focus on effort and willpower”.

Happy New Year!
We will finally release FFXV this year, in 2016! In development, previous phases required wisdom and strength. However, moving forward the final phase will focus on effort and willpower.
I vow to you all that every member in the team will do their best to the very last possible moment taking responsibility and pride in their craft.
We will do everything we can do to finish FFXV to create an experience we are incredibly proud of and one that you will enjoy and treasure.
The whole FFXV team appreciates all of the support from each and everyone one of you this past year.
I cannot tell you how much it means to all of us.
We’d like to celebrate a wonderful New Year and as we approach the release of FFXV, I’d like to enjoy that moment with you all.

Final Fantasy XV To Feature Exciting Aerial Battles With Flying Foes, Battle Modes System Detailed

Final Fantasy XV is now very close to release and Square Enix is getting ready for the big event focused on the game coming in two months. The preparations for the event aren’t preventing members of the team from sharing some new details on the highly anticipated role playing game.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/final-fantasy-xv_walking-635x357.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/final-fantasy-xv_walking.jpg)
Earlier today on the Final Fantasy XV Official Forums, a few fans’ questions have been answered by members of the team. The first question (https://forum.finalfantasyxv.com/discussion/963/will-large-buildings-have-multiple-warp-points-to-allow-noctis-to-scale-and-explore-rooftops) was about Warp Points, one of the Final Fantasy XV’s most interesting features. A fan has asked about multiple Warp Points in larger buildings and Lead Level Designer Terada Takefumi confirmed that players will be able to use multiple warp points in a strategic manner. Mr. Takefumi has also confirmed that the game will include exciting aerial battles with flying foes and gigantic boss enemies.

Why of course they will!
The warp ability that lets you teleport instantly to high up locations is a vital part of FFXV’s battle system. The ability to use multiple warp points in a strategic manner is especially prevalent in the game’s large scale battles over urban terrain. It is not just the buildings though, and we have also created exciting aerial battles with flying foes and gigantic boss enemies, so watch out for those.

The second question (https://forum.finalfantasyxv.com/discussion/961/how-will-the-difficulty-modes-compare-in-terms-of-xp-gain-enemy-stats-damage-and-a-i) was about the Final Fantasy XV difficulty modes. Lead Game Designer Takizawa Masashi has revealed that Final Fantasy XV will feature a system where players can switch between different battle modes so that it will be possible for all players to enjoy the game. This switching system is a key part of the game that the team decided to introduce after receiving feedback from the Episode Duscae demo.

The equivalent to difficulty level settings in FFXV is a system where you can switch between different battle modes. By having this ability to switch modes, we want to make it so that both players who like action oriented, technical gameplay and also those who want to fight at a slower, more relaxed pace can all enjoy the combat in their own style. This switching system is a key part of the gameplay that we decided to introduce based on the feedback we received from the Episode Duscae demo. We will go into more detail about the system closer to the game’s launch so stay tuned for more information.

The third and final question (https://forum.finalfantasyxv.com/discussion/962/how-much-of-the-big-cities-like-altissia-insomnia-will-we-be-able-to-explore) was about big cities like Altissia and Insomnia. A fan asked about how much of these cities will be explorable and planner Ishikawa Tomori revealed that the city of Altissia will sport many and varied locations such as multiple cafes, parks and more. The players will be able to walk around the complex maze of streets or even ride the gondola to see the sights.

I can tell everyone a little about Altissia at this time.
Altissia has many and varied locations, such as multiple cafes, ship-bourne market places and parks etc. The city is of a considerable scale, to the extent that even the developers sometimes get lost there!
The player is free to take a leisurely walk around the complex maze of streets, or ride the gondola to see the sights and there is also added enjoyment to be had looking for restaurants to visit!
You are bound to encounter some unique characters when exploring the city streets.
So we have created lots of different things to enjoy in Altissia and hope everyone is looking forward to visiting!

A few days ago all the details on the Sony’s Taipei Game Show 2016 stage schedule have emerged online, revealing that both Final Fantasy XV and World of Final Fantasy will be getting dedicated stage events on January 31st. With a new Active Time Report also confirmed for this month, many thought that the Final Fantasy XV was actually going to be the new ATR, but it looks like this won’t be the case.

The next Active Time Report has been confirmed for this month, so it’s quite likely it will be aired before the Final Fantasy XV stage event is held.

Final Fantasy XV New Scan Showcases Magitek Armor, Fire Magic And More

Magic is one of the more important elements of the Final Fantasy series and so Final Fantasy XV will also feature a unique magic system. Not much has been said on the matter in the past, but something new on it has emerged online earlier today thanks to the latest issue of Japanese magazine Shonen Jump.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Final-Fantasy-XV-1-635x357.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Final-Fantasy-XV-1.jpg)
This week’s issue of the magazine comes with a few new Final Fantasy XV screenshots showcasing a battle against a Magitek Armor. One of the screenshots also shows that magic in Final Fantasy XV will affect the environment, with Fire magic setting grass on fire at once. Both enemies and allies can be damaged by similar events. One of the screenshots also shows how Noctis can mount monsters, an action that decreases the enemy’s physical strength. You can check out the new magazine scan right below.

Noctis gets fired up in these new Final Fantasy XV screenshots

The long-awaited Final Fantasy XV is finally set to get a release date in a few months (http://www.tweaktown.com/news/49341/final-fantasy-15-confirmed-2016-launch/index.html), and Square Enix is whetting our appetites with a few small snacks in screenshot form.

http://imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/4/9/49927_3_noctis-gets-fired-up-new-final-fantasy-xv-screenshots.jpg (http://www.tweaktown.com/image.php?image=imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/4/9/49927_3_noctis-gets-fired-up-new-final-fantasy-xv-screenshots_full.jpg)

Square Enix's new batch of FFXV screenshots show off Noctis and company battling a variety of interesting baddies in open-world Lucis, and show off a glimpse at the devastating firaga spell. We also get a look at the most recently Active Cross Battle system display screen, which looks quite sleek and compact. Even still, I find the HUD lacking and too clean-cut, and it really doesn't remind me I'm playing a Final Fantasy game.

Apart from the new screens, the devs will be holding a brand new Active Time Report on Saturday,January 30 starting at 8:00PM PST on the Square Enix YouTube channel (https://t.co/h6G2iuNPm3). The new show's theme will focus on magic, new battle system updates and footage, and the political strife between Lucis and the Niflgaard Empire.

As per usual, this week's ATR will by hosted by Square Enix greats Hajime Tabata and Akio Ofuji. We'll probably get a few awesome updates on the Luminous Engine and some snippets of character animations to boot--Square has shared a few interesting peeks on Prompto's animations (https://forum.finalfantasyxv.com/discussion/1006/toyama-san-ffxv-animator-talks-about-animating-prompto), so we may see some more.

Final Fantasy XV is set to release this year across PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. A final release date will be unveiled sometime in March.

Final Fantasy 15 info blowout: combat, story, and release date info (http://www.tweaktown.com/news/50067/final-fantasy-15-info-blowout-combat-story-release-date/index.html)

Final Fantasy XV (http://www.tweaktown.com/news/49927/noctis-gets-fired-up-new-final-fantasy-xv-screenshots/index.html) is looking outright incredible. Square Enix showcased a bunch of new content in its latest Active Time Report, including an interesting three-minute combat sequence, new story info, new details on magic, and confirmation that the game's release date will be revealed in March. We also have the final progress report for the game that details new changes and features.

<iframe width="781" height="469" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/GO7nyrNBFXA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

The combat footage introduces a surprising mashup of Metal Gear Solid with modern Final Fantasy. Noctis and co. sneak into a nefarious Niflheim base, espionage style, and then go up against a hulking Magitek mech straight out of Kojima's imagination. We get to see how stealth will work in the game: users can warp from place to place without blowing their cover, and even stealthily warp-kill enemies.

The real fun happens once the all-out brawl begins, and once again we get a hefty glimpse at the svelte, almost beatific fluid grace of FF15's combat. We get to see Noctis perform some aerial warp combos that underline the potential and magic of the game's Active Cross Battle system. Gladius swipes his mighty blade to smash a whole line of soldiers, and the whole time the group works together in tandem with devastating results.

<iframe width="781" height="469" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/BPzn6jAh6RA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Elemental Magic Affinities
Final Fantasy XV has two different types of magic: elemental magic and ring magic. Ring magic is exclusive to the bearer of the signet ring of Lucis and is locked behind story progression. Elemental magic, on the other hand, consists of three base types: Fire, Blizzard, and Thunder. These elemental affinities actually interact with the game's environments and weather effects, making them dynamic.

If you looked closely at the combat footage, you'd see that the Magitek mech Noctis took down had sprayed a ton of oil, which was then ignited by a Fire spell to burn nearby enemies. That's just an example of the chaos you can pull off with environmental combos.

The same logical effects are true for other situations; Thunder spells do more damage in the rain, Fire can actively burn and spread in grass (and oil), and using a Blizzard spell in a wet area has a chance of freezing and doing bonus damage to foes. To use elemental magic, you have to go around to different areas and gather specific energies--a bit like the draw system from FF8.

http://imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/5/0/50067_7_new-ffxv-content-revealed-release-date-coming-march.jpg

The Niflheim Empire
We also get a closer look at the game's antagonists, the Niflheim Empire. Square Enix unveiled the fascist emperor Iedolas Aldercapt, who's a kind of puppet-dictator. Chancellor Ardyn Izunia holds the real power behind the fierce empire, and is using the power of the Magitek technology to take over the known world. General Glauca helms the empire's military muscle, and is a domineering foe to say the least. We'll probably fight him later in the storyline.

Next up we have the basic Magitek infantry, which are actually robots rather than humans. Square Enix revealed that most of the Niflheim Empire's military is made up of human-controlled robots infused with the Magitek energy-tech.

http://imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/5/0/50067_4_new-ffxv-content-revealed-release-date-coming-march.jpghttp://imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/5/0/50067_5_new-ffxv-content-revealed-release-date-coming-march.jpghttp://imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/5/0/50067_6_new-ffxv-content-revealed-release-date-coming-march.jpghttp://imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/5/0/50067_3_new-ffxv-content-revealed-release-date-coming-march.jpg

Last but certainly not least we have the mysterious Aranea Highwind. Final Fantasy fans will instantly recognize Aranea's dragoon armor, and those familiar with the FF Versus 13 project will remember her from old teasers. Aranea is the captain of the Third Army Corps 86th Airborne Unit, and has a penchant for aerial combat, and we see her clash with Noctis at the end of the combat trailer.

Release Date Event
Square Enix has promised that Final Fantasy 15 will release in 2016 (http://www.tweaktown.com/news/49341/final-fantasy-15-confirmed-2016-launch/index.html), and they're making good on that promise. As with everything surrounding a major Final Fantasy release, the team is building up a mighty gala affair for its reveals, so FF15's release date reveal will have its own event called "Uncovered: Final Fantasy XV". The unveiling is set to take place on March 30th at 7:00 PM PST at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, and the event will be live streamed.

Be sure to check out the full Active Time Report below if you want even more Final Fantasy XV goodness!

Final Fantasy XV has been one of the many high profile games that has been shown last week during the Taipei Game Show 2016. New gameplay footage (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GO7nyrNBFXA) has also surfaced online following the latest Active Time Report event, showcasing a stealth gameplay sequence featuring plenty of battle system improvements over the Episode Duscae demo.
Two weeks ago other details on Final Fantasy XV have surfaced online thanks to Japanese magazine Shonen Jump (http://wccftech.com/final-fantasy-xv-scan-showcases-magitek-armor-fire-magic/). The magazine showed how magic can influence the environment, with Fire magic having the ability to burn grass and damage both enemies and party members. The magazine also revealed that Noctis can mount monsters to decrease their physical strength.
Final Fantasy XV will be released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on a yet to be confirmed 2016 release date. The playable demo Final Fantasy XV: Episode Duscae can be downloaded on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One only through a special code found in Final Fantasy Type-0 HD launch copies. More on the role playing game by Square Enix will be coming soon so stay tuned for all the latest news.

Final Fantasy XIV 'The Gears of Change' now available for download (http://www.tweaktown.com/news/50625/final-fantasy-xiv-the-gears-change-now-available-download/index.html)

Final Fantasy XIV's newest update 3.2, The Gears of Change (http://www.tweaktown.com/news/50343/final-fantasy-14-patch-3-2-begins-gears-change/index.html), is now officially ready to be consumed by those that're romping around Hydaelyn.

http://imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/5/0/50625_1_final-fantasy-xiv-the-gears-change-now-available-download.png (http://www.tweaktown.com/image.php?image=imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/5/0/50625_1_final-fantasy-xiv-the-gears-change-now-available-download_full.png)

The Gears of Change is a content update as much as it still continues to root out latent bugs that might plague the game, after all these years. Crucially, it adds new story quests, beast tribe quests and plenty of class adjustments to help better balance the game. There are 11 new quests in total, with 9 of them complete mysteries until you successfully complete the main scenario first. And they're adding in a lot more content than just that, too. New high-level dungeons, continued side-story quests from the Hildibrand Adventures and a new "Primal Battle" to challenge the highest levels of players.

This update also introduces options for new players to quickly acquaint themselves with the game with the Hall of the Novice. There, the novice can embark on specialized tutorial quests that ultimately help them to understand the techniques of playing in online groups. It's a way to ease non-MMO players into the particulars of the genre.

The patch is out and ready to be downloaded, provided you already have Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward installed. That's the only requirement.

Final Fantasy XV Release Date Reportedly Leaked – Set to Launch in September Before Other Triple A Games

After only a couple of weeks now, Final Fantasy XV will finally get an official release date during Square Enix’s “Uncovered : Final Fantasy XV (http://www.finalfantasyxv.com/uncovered/us/)” event that is scheduled to take place on March 30 in Los Angeles. But if you are one of those fans who can’t have a good night’s sleep not knowing when exactly the highly anticipated action role-playing game is coming out, today may very well be a good day for you, because release date for the next game in the long-running and one of the all-time best JRPG series has reportedly been outed ahead of time.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/Final-Fantasy-XV-635x357.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/Final-Fantasy-XV.jpg)
Final Fantasy XV Set to Launch on September 30 According to Reliable Sources According to Gametsu (http://gematsu.com/2016/03/rumor-final-fantasy-xv-launches-september-30), PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players will finally be able to dive right into the massive open world of Final Fantasy XV as the game sees a worldwide release on September 30, just a few days into the fall season. This information was provided to the site by a reliable source, and was then “corroborated by three independent sources who would have knowledge of the matter,” reads the post (http://gematsu.com/2016/03/rumor-final-fantasy-xv-launches-september-30). Gametsu is pretty sure this release date is accurate, but “given that within a company setting anything can change before it is made public,” they’re reporting this as a rumor.
Of course, nothing can be said about the legitimacy of this piece of information until the Japanese video game developer/publisher Square Enix itself officially announces the release date of the upcoming game during the “Uncovered: Final Fantasy XV” event, which will take place at the end of the month, and of course as the name implies, “will offer new information on the game as well as key surprises that speak to the full entertainment experience.” You can read find more about the event here (http://www.finalfantasyxv.com/uncovered/us/).

Final Fantasy XV was originally announced as Final Fantasy Versus XIII around a decade ago in 2006. The game was aimed to be a PlayStation 3-exclusive before being rebranded as Final Fantasy XV and shifted from last-generation Sony hardware to current-gen PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles. The main story, world, and concept of the game remained the same before and after the transition, but the game itself has received many changes. It has been previously rumored that Square Enix is aiming to launch the game in summer 2016. A September 30 release date means the game will go ahead of all the other big AAA games that come out in holiday season in October and November. So releasing a game in September is apparently a good move. Still, as mentioned before, we will only know for sure once Square Enix makes it official.

Final Fantasy 15's main story will be 50 hours long (http://www.tweaktown.com/news/51271/final-fantasy-15s-main-story-50-hours-long/index.html)

Like its JRPG predecessors, Final Fantasy 15 (http://www.tweaktown.com/news/50067/final-fantasy-15-info-blowout-combat-story-release-date/index.html) will be a pretty meaty game with plenty of content to chew on.

http://imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/5/1/51271_3_final-fantasy-15s-main-story-50-hours-long.jpg (http://www.tweaktown.com/image.php?image=imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/5/1/51271_3_final-fantasy-15s-main-story-50-hours-long_full.jpg)

In a recent livestream with Famitsu (http://www.siliconera.com/2016/03/24/final-fantasy-xv-director-main-story-length-frame-rate-airship-cactuar/), Square Enix game director Hajime Tabata confirmed that Final Fantasy 15's main story will take about 50 hours to beat. This is up from the original 40-hour estimate, with Tabata citing that the final game has "more volume" than originally projected.

Tabata continues by saying Final Fantasy 15's frame rate hasn't been fully optimized just yet. The devs are targeting 30FPS for the final release (http://www.tweaktown.com/news/51275/), but the current build often breaks the 30FPS threshold. Square Enix expects to lock down the frame rate before the game goes gold, but if they're unable to hit a consistent 30FPS Tabata affirms the studio will "do something different".

Famitsu was able to squeeze a few more tidbits out of Tabata, which can be found below in a tidy list.

Cactaurs will make an appearance in FF15 (thank god!) as "very powerful foes" who can actually dodge Noctis' special Shift Break attacks

Tabata also teased that airships are still in, and they'll have a distinct visual style to match the game, saying that "this is the kind of Airship that should be in Final Fantasy XV"

We still don't know the game's final resolution--whether it's in full 1080p or 900p--but this will be revealed at next week's event

Square Enix wants to work with Sony to make special FF15-themed PS4 bundles

A playable FF15 tech demo will be hosted at the event

There will be plenty of surprises and new info shown off at the FF15 Uncovered event next week

Square Enix will debut Final Fantasy 15's official release date during its special Final Fantasy XV Uncovered event (http://www.finalfantasyxv.com/uncovered/us/) next week on March 31, along with tons of "special surprises".

We'll be sure to tune into the show and keep you updated on the latest news on this momentous new RPG, and I for one can't wait to hear more about the game.

Final Fantasy 15 is targeting 30FPS for a cinematic experience (http://www.tweaktown.com/news/51275/final-fantasy-15-targeting-30fps-cinematic-experience/index.html)

Final Fantasy XV is a treat on the eyes, with the wildly stylized hair and well-designed backdrops. But being a graphical showcase of what Square Enix is capable of producing as the primary developer also means that it has the potential of running a bit slower. But considering the genre and the type of action on screen, the targeted framerate will be 30FPS, for that cinematic feel, and because it's probably all the consoles can manage at higher resolutions.

http://imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/5/1/51275_1_final-fantasy-15-targeting-30fps-cinematic-experience.jpg (http://www.tweaktown.com/image.php?image=imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/5/1/51275_1_final-fantasy-15-targeting-30fps-cinematic-experience_full.jpg)

That's at least their objective. At the moment, the game sometimes dips below that target, but they believe that further optimizations can help keep things well within 30FPS with no trouble. It's possible, however, that they may not be able to hit that target enough of the time for it to be viable, in which they might have to do something else completely to satiate fans. The final resolution that it'll be running hasn't been revealed yet, but it's looking more likely that it won't be 1080P if they want to hit that 30FPS target.

The game engine they're using, the Luminous Studio engine, is a very capable and impressive piece of technology. It's been the underlying engine that underpinned the Witch Chapter 0 [cry] demo that was shown off (http://www.tweaktown.com/news/44900/discrete-integrated-gpus-working-together-dx12-provides-gains/index.html) at Microsoft BUILD last year, with four Titan X's rendering a scene filled with 8Kx8K textures and nearly 63 million polygons. One Titan X was only able to push it to 35.9FPS, so imagine how even a less potent version of the engine would fair on the hardware inside the Xbox One and the PS4. Even a mere 5 million polygons (http://gematsu.com/2014/12/final-fantasy-xv-detailed-famitsu) per frame is still impressive, and not easy to render considering the other effects that are put on top of that. It'll be interesting to see how well it runs when it's finally released. Of course we'll have a performance analysis as soon as is feasible on the PC.

Final Fantasy XV New Demo Revealed By Chinese Ad, May Release Later Today

In just a few hours, fans of the Final Fantasy series will finally learn when they will be able to enjoy the next entry of the series, Final Fantasy XV, during the Uncovered Final Fantasy XV event. More announcements are expected during the event, and one of them has already been revealed a few minutes ago thanks to a Chiense video.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/Final-Fantasy-XV-635x357.jpg
According to the new video, Final Fantasy XV is going to get a new demo where players will get to enter the dream of Young Noctis. You can check out the ad right below.

While the new Final Fantasy XV demo is surely going to get detailed later today, it’s already been revealed that it will most likely be released shortly after the event, as it’s been spotted on the Chinese Xbox Store. The demo is going to be around 4.5 GB, according to the image circulating online.

Today’s Uncovered Final Fantasy XV event may also confirm the PC release of the game. Two months ago, a dedicated Final Fantasy fan has found mention of the Steam Store in the website’s source code (http://wccftech.com/final-fantasy-xv-pc-version-mentioned-uncovered-ffxv-websites-code/), with the code also mentioning a possible PC retail release.
Final Fantasy XV has already received a playable demo, called Episode Duscae, but the demo wasn’t available for all, as it was only available to those who have purchased a launch copy of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD. The demo has also received a major update which introduced plenty of changes. Considering how much time has passed since the release of the Episode Duscae 2.0 update, we should expect the new demo to come with plenty of new features.

Final Fantasy XV PC Version Listed In GameStop Ad

A few hours ago, Square Enix has revealed all the latest details on Final Fantasy XV during the Uncovered Final Fantasy XV event. Unfortunately, the announcement that all PC fans of the series were expecting didn’t come, but it seems like there’s still hope for a Final Fantasy XV release on PC.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/Final-Fantasy-XV-1-635x357.jpg
A new Final Fantasy XV ad that appears on the GameStop website is currently listing the game for a PC release, alongside the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One release. During yesterday’s event, a PC version hasn’t been ruled out completely, but if the new ad is showing correct info, Square Enix might have had some other reason to not announce the PC version during the Uncovered event. You can check out the ad in the image below, captured by NeoGAF user BernandoOne (http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1202694).

The new mention of a Final Fantasy XV PC release isn’t the only one that has been spotted in recent times. Back in February, the source code for the Uncovered website (http://wccftech.com/final-fantasy-xv-pc-version-mentioned-uncovered-ffxv-websites-code/) included a mention of the Steam Store, as well as one of a possible retail release. With most Final Fantasy titles now available for purchase on Steam, there’s a very good chance that Final Fantasy XV will eventually be released on PC.
PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners can try out the new Platinum Demo (http://wccftech.com/final-fantasy-xv-demo-revealed-chinese-ad-release-today/), which has been made available shortly after the end of the Uncovered Final Fantasy XV event. The demo, which features a young Noctis, will not be part of the full game and it will allow players to unlock Carbuncle in the final release upon completion.

Square Enix just announced that Final Fantasy 15 is getting its own full-length CGI movie and anime series.

<iframe src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/otB3zq6ppwc" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="469" width="781"></iframe>

During its official FInal Fantasy Uncovered event, Square Enix revealed that Final Fantasy 15 is getting extra content outside of the game--including an anime series and a full CGI movie. The movie will be called Kingsglaive, and gives important backstory on King Regis and the events that led up to the game. Kingsglaive features major actors like Aaron Paul and Sean Bean and has been in production for the past three years.
The anime series is called Brotherhood, and consists of five 10-minute episodes. Brotherhood sheds important light on the friendship between Noctis, Gladio, Prompto and Ignis. The first episode of Brotherhood will be available soon on the official FF15 YouTube channel, and Kingsglaive will be out before Final Fantasy 15's official release.

(http://www.tweaktown.com/news/51384/final-fantasy-15s-deluxe-ultimate-collectors-editions-revealed/index.html)Noctis' car doubles as an airship in Final Fantasy 15 (http://www.tweaktown.com/news/51385/noctis-car-doubles-airship-final-fantasy-15/index.html)

Every Final Fantasy game has to have an airship--it's a significant staple of the series that allows players to navigate the map. But Square Enix has something special in store for Final Fantasy 15 fans.

<iframe src="//giphy.com/embed/l2R0eSh7jFVkyELBK" width="480" height="241" frameBorder="0" class="giphy-embed" allowFullScreen></iframe><p><a href="http://giphy.com/gifs/l2R0eSh7jFVkyELBK">via GIPHY</a></p>

via GIPHY (http://giphy.com/gifs/l2R0eSh7jFVkyELBK)

As it turns out, the airship in Final Fantasy 15 (http://www.tweaktown.com/news/50067/final-fantasy-15-info-blowout-combat-story-release-date/index.html) isn't really an airship--it's actually Noctis' car. That's right, Noctis' svelte black speedster transforms into a fully-functioning sky-flier right before our eyes. Although I'm a huge fan of those majestic floating skyships that Square Enix cooks up, I think this is absolutely awesome.

Game director Hajime Tabata said that once we saw the airship, we'd think "this is the kind of airship that should be in Final Fantasy 15". I have to agree with him on this one. Let's just hope Noctis' jet-car isn't just limited to low flying zones, and we can soar in the heavens above the clouds. Also, I hope that we can actually drive the car once it's airborne, as the in-game footage seemed to show driving as an on-rails experience.

Final Fantasy 15 is slated to release on September 30, 2016, and pre-orders for the collector's editions are now live. The game's main story is expected to last 50 hours, and Square Enix is targeting 30FPS for a cinematic experience.

Square Enix will be looking into bringing Final Fantasy XV to PC (http://www.kitguru.net/gaming/matthew-wilson/final-fantasy-xv-has-a-new-release-date-pc-version-might-happen/)

Earlier this month, a few leaks pointed towards a release date for Final Fantasy XV and now following on from Square Enix’s event last night, we have confirmation that the game will finally be coming out on the 30th of September this year. However, once the Xbox One and PS4 versions of the game are out of the way, Square Enix will be looking into bringing the game to PC.
To top it off, Square Enix has released a new demo for the game, showing off new mechanics and locations as well as a new trailer. While the original Final Fantasy XV demo was known as ‘Episode Duscae’, this new demo is known as the ‘Platinum Demo’ and it contains a side story to the game, featuring a younger version of Noctis, the new main character. You can already download it on PSN and Xbox Live as long as the servers aren’t being overloaded by fans.

<iframe width="640" height="385" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/C05PC_dGjsw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

While there is no definitive word on the PC version of the game just yet, in an interview with Engadget (http://www.engadget.com/2016/03/30/final-fantasy-xv-release-date-anime-movie-pc/) Square Enix says that it will be investigating a PC version, which means we could potentially get it next year, before all focus shifts to the new Final Fantasy VII Remake. If you are interested in the game, then you can also see the new trailer titled ‘Reclaim your Throne’ above.

Final Fantasy 15 on PC won't happen until console ports release (http://www.tweaktown.com/news/51415/final-fantasy-15-pc-happen-until-console-ports-release/index.html)

Square Enix hasn't ruled out a PC release for Final Fantasy 15 (http://www.tweaktown.com/news/51385/noctis-car-doubles-airship-final-fantasy-15/index.html), and the publisher promises that it'll seriously evaluate the platform in due time--but not before the console ports release. So we could be waiting well into 2017 before FF15 makes the jump to PC.

<iframe width="781" height="469" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/iISYwErsQdk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Square Enix game director Hajime Tabata says that the studio is "aware of the big call for a PC version." but the PS4 and Xbox One flavors take priority. The studio is committed to optimizing the console versions ahead of Final Fantasy 15's September 30 release date (http://www.tweaktown.com/news/51369/final-fantasy-15-release-date-leaked-ahead-schedule/index.html).

"Unfortunately we weren't able to do simultaneous development on a PC and console version for XV," Tabata told Endgadget (http://www.engadget.com/2016/03/30/final-fantasy-xv-release-date-anime-movie-pc/). "We had to focus on the console version, and our goal was to maximize, optimize everything for the HD consoles. Once that's done, then we will definitely take a good, hard look at PC and what we need to do, and consider all our options. But right now we aren't decided, we're still considering a lot of things."

Evidence of a PC port of the landmark action RPG has been mounting in the last few days, especially with a particular GameStop advertisement (https://twitter.com/Wario64/status/715397131738042370) that outright listed PC as one of the game's platforms. I think it's only a matter of time before Square Enix pulls the trigger, but the studio has its hands full making Final Fantasy 15 run at 30FPS on consoles (http://www.tweaktown.com/news/51275/final-fantasy-15-targeting-30fps-cinematic-experience/index.html).

In other FF15 news, at the official Final Fantasy Uncovered event Square Enix unveiled a host of new spin-off content for the game including a feature-length CGI film called Kingsglaive (http://www.tweaktown.com/news/51383/final-fantasy-15-getting-cgi-movie-anime-series/index.html), and a five-part anime series called Brotherhood (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fsVhwsUFaDE). There's also a brand new FF15 Platinum Demo available on PS4 and Xbox One, but it's not very good. Even still you should give it a whirl

Final Fantasy XV must sell more than 10 million copies (http://www.kitguru.net/gaming/jon-martindale/final-fantasy-xv-must-sell-more-than-10-million-copies/)

Gaming might be the biggest media industry in the world right now, but that doesn’t mean all that extra revenue and investment can’t create headaches of its own. Games are often being made too big and too expensive to fail and Final Fantasy XV is a perfect example of that. With endless co-promotional materials, other media and tonnes of extras, it needs to shift over 10 million copies to be considered a success.
This is all because Square Enix has gone all out with the upcoming Final Fantasy title. Not only has it been in development for years and cost many millions of pounds in its own right, but when released, it’s going to launch alongside a feature length movie with well known actors like Lena Headey (Cercei Lannister), Aaron Paul, (Jesse Pinkman) and Sean Bean (every guy that eventually dies).
http://www.kitguru.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/650x355xffxv-1024x559.jpg.pagespeed.ic.SACf8jEKAy.jpg (http://www.kitguru.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/ffxv.jpg)
Sqaure has also created a companion five-part anime series explaining the characters’ back stories and hired on Florence and the Machine to record the game’s theme tune. It will produce a number of tie-in mobile games too and to really cap it all off, there’s a custom Final Fantasy XV Audi R8 being created.

All of that to help sell the game.

<iframe width="640" height="385" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/IVrnS26mnCA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Admittedly the 10 million copies that director Hajime Tabata claims need to be sold to make it a success, is over the life of the product. So there are some years ahead where sales will still be counted, but as Kotaku (http://www.kotaku.co.uk/2016/03/31/final-fantasy-15-needs-to-sell-10-million-copies-to-succeed) points out, 10 million is more than any Final Fantasy game, save VII, has ever sold.
Final Fantasy XV launches on PS4 and Xbox One on 30th September. A PC version is currently being considered (http://www.kitguru.net/gaming/matthew-wilson/final-fantasy-xv-has-a-new-release-date-pc-version-might-happen/).

Hands On With Square Enix's 'Platinum Demo' For 'Final Fantasy XV'

http://media.bestofmicro.com/F/1/570781/gallery/PLATINUM-DEMO-FINAL-FANTASY-XV_20160330234649_w_600.jpg (http://www.tomshardware.com/gallery/PLATINUM-DEMO-FINAL-FANTASY-XV_20160330234649,0101-570781-0-2-12-1-jpg-.html)
Right after the "Uncovered: Final Fantasy XV"event finished last night (http://www.tomshardware.com/news/final-fantasy-xv-release-date,31517.html), Square Enix released a free demo for the game, simply titled the Platinum Demo. Obviously, the demo didn’t take long to finish (it took me less than an hour), but it did provide an idea of the new gameplay elements featured in Final Fantasy XV.
Quick Look Unlike the Episode Duscae demo, which was packaged alongside Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, the Platinum Demo isn’t part of the Final Fantasy XV storyline. However, you still get to play as the upcoming game’s main character, Noctis, who’s currently stuck in this dream world. With the help of your Carbuncle creature companion, you have to find your way through this dream state and wake up.
If you’ve played any of the Kingdom Hearts games, you have an idea of how the gameplay mechanics work in the demo. You can run around in the environment and then press a single button to attack enemies, or hold that same button to initiate a string of attacks. You can also roll around to dodge attacks. Obviously, this is a departure from the usual Final Fantasy combat system, where you would initiate combat with an enemy and then the actual fight takes place in a separate location.
There are also crystals scattered throughout the game, which, if you collect enough of them, activate various plates throughout the demo. These plates allow you to manipulate the world around you by changing the weather, time of day or even turning you into a car or animal.
A Long Dream The worlds of the Final Fantasy series are always a sight to behold, and the legacy continues with this demo. Levels vary from a forested area to a large city square, and each area seems to be beautifully crafted along with various lighting and water effects. One level even had a series of wooden blocks that you could knock over to showcase various physics effects. For Square Enix, this isn’t just a gameplay demo; it’s a tech demo to give fans an idea of what to expect, visually, for the final game.
As you collect items, you can store up to four of them in active slots, so you can use quickly use them in combat. Aside from sword and hammer variants, you also have a variety of bombs to use against foes, such as a small burst of fireworks or a deadly shower of bright meteor strikes. The enemies were all low-level creatures, so defeating them wasn’t much of a challenge.
http://media.bestofmicro.com/F/2/570782/gallery/PLATINUM-DEMO-FINAL-FANTASY-XV_20160331003250_w_600.jpg (http://www.tomshardware.com/gallery/PLATINUM-DEMO-FINAL-FANTASY-XV_20160331003250,0101-570782-0-2-12-1-jpg-.html)The main event, however, occurs near the end of the game with a boss fight--a large figure wielding an even larger sword. It’s during this conflict that Noctis' true powers come to life. Instead of a toy sword, squeaky hammer and small bombs at your disposal, you’ll be able to use his real arsenal: two swords (a broadsword and regular sword) and the ability to cast fire.
The fight is somewhat more difficult than previous encounters, but it’s exciting nonetheless. By unleashing a fury of attacks at the right time, as well as continuously dodging each devastating hit from the enemy, the entire battle looked like a well-choreographed fight scene. I was also able to try out Noctis’ Warp Strike ability, which allows him to use his main sword to warp away to various locations in the area. You can also use it to get a surprise attack on the enemy. By itself, the attack doesn’t deal too much damage, but you can combine it with multiple attacks to create combo moves for heavy amounts of damage. After a few minutes of varying moves and constantly using Warp Strike, I was victorious.
Most of my attacks against enemies were physical ones, along with the occasional use of a bomb or magic attack. As Final Fantasy XV is full of enemies of varying abilities and weaknesses, I’m quite interested to see how this fast-paced format will work when you have to strategize about how to attack each enemy on the field.
A Taste Of What’s To Come As fun as it was to take down that final monster, part of me was saddened by the fact that I never played the Episode Duscae demo, which would enable me to use more of Noctis’ real powers. Sure, I could press a plate in the town square to start the battle again, but I wanted to try his abilities against varying types of enemies instead of the same foe over and over again.
Still, that doesn’t detract from the fact that the Platinum Demo was an enjoyable hour of gameplay. The controls were easy to understand, the combat system kept me on my toes, and each location was visually appealing.
The last Final Fantasy game I played (not counting Final Fantasy XIV) was Lighting Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, which was an excruciating experience due to its gameplay elements and time-based constraints. Based on what I played on the Platinum Demo, it seems that Square Enix learned many things to improve the series’ overall gameplay and visuals, which makes me all the more excited to play Final Fantasy XV.

The Final Fantasy 15 Platinum demo is extremely lacking

If it weren't for the exclusive carbuncle unlock, the new Final Fantasy 15 demo would be completely pointless.

<iframe width="781" height="469" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/nsloIIgonHI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

After Square Enix revealed the new Final Fantasy 15 Platinum Demo, I was super excited to try it out. After all, the demo represents a chunk of the finalized game, mirroring the combat scheme and optimized graphics we'll see in the finished product this September. My excited quickly evaporated when I started playing the demo, which is essentially a lackluster attempt at catering to casual gamers, totally betraying the very essence of the enthralling action-packed adventure we'd seen in the trailers.

Instead of the rip-roaring mayhem and carnage, we're given a cutesy adventure that depicts Noctis' dreams. The idea sounds neat enough, but the execution was so lackadaisical and underwhelming that I earnestly wanted to quit mid-game. Luckily the demo isn't long--but isn't that a bad thing? It's a bad sign that you want the entire experience to be over as soon as possible, right?

Most of the demo is quite demure, even for a Final Fantasy game. It honestly reminded me of a Kingdom Hearts platformer with all of the meaningful elements torn out, leaving an unsatisfying shell of a mobile game behind. As kid Noctis you're limited to two weapons and a handful of firecrackers, which act like magical attacks. Noctis fights three different enemies, which appear as cute phantoms within his dream--but the combat is so boring, so utterly rote that I found myself just avoiding them on site.

What's worse is the demo has a kind of Crash Bandicoot-esque "find all the hidden diamonds!" gimmick. I fell for this gimmick, trudging through the different areas--which are quite beautiful, I must say--just to find the yellow crystals. As far as I can tell, collecting the crystals doesn't actually do anything.

I have to say that the transformations were neat. When you navigate through the demo, you'll land on these nodes that sometimes turn you into vehicles--yes really. Enemies can even use magic to transform you into a rampaging wildebeest. But even these things were stunted and graceless--the vehicles had awful maneuvering, and the beast was just way too cumbersome.

http://imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/5/1/51416_4_final-fantasy-15-platinum-demo-extremely-lacking.jpg

The only real fun the demo offers is a small climactic battle at the very end. Here Noctis transforms into his grown-up self to take on a hulking Iron Giant. This is the only fight that's even the slightest bit enjoying, and as far as I'm concerned, it's the only moment in the game where I had fun. Kind of, at least.

This single mini boss-battle is all you get. Noctis only has two weapons at his disposal, and only has the warp technique available. Sure it's a nice taste of that deliciously chaotic combat shown in the teasers, but it's not nearly enough. You can keep spawning the Iron Giant to fight him over and over and over again if you want, but I stopped after the third fight.

Yes, the game is beautiful. The environments are incredible. But they're so devoid of life, so stale and empty that they feel soulless. What's more is that the Platinum Demo has a huge problem with its camera. I noticed the same awkward camera reeling while playing Episode Duscae, the first FF15 demo. It appears Square Enix hasn't fixed it just yet--hopefully they will.

http://imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/5/1/51416_2_final-fantasy-15-platinum-demo-extremely-lacking.jpg

The biggest problem with the camera is that it doesn't pass through walls or objects--it just pushes against them, colliding with them. So fighting in tight-spaced corridors is an all-but-impossible exercise in frustration. It really hampered my exploration of the city, and I found myself avoiding locations just so I wouldn't have to deal with the awkward camera.

The only reason to play the Platinum Demo is to unlock the carbuncle summon. That's it. It's not enjoyable, it's not cheeky--it's just a crumb of gameplay that feels more like a pre-order vehicle than something substantial. The demo has a direct path to pre-order the game on the main menu, and asks you if you'd like to pre-order FF15 upon completion. Square Enix is literally trying to sell us a game based on this flawed, empty experience, and it really is rather disappointing.

It's a shame, too, because Square Enix did such a fantastic job with Episode Duscae. Episode Duscae smashes the Platinum Demo in every regard, reducing it as some pathetic freemium mobile game without any actual substance. Just download the demo, beat it, grab your carbuncle, and delete it right away. I'd rather not play it than be stuck with such a small taste--it's not even enough to adequately whet our appetites, which is the entire purpose of a game demo.

Final Fantasy XV Platinum Demo Comparison Screenshots Showcase Better Graphics When In Pause Menu

Last week it’s been a very good week for fans of the Final Fantasy series, as Square Enix finally announced Final Fantasy XV’s final release date (http://wccftech.com/final-fantasy-xv-release-date-set-september-30/) on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The Japanese publisher has also released a new Final Fantasy XV tech demo called Platinum Demo, (http://wccftech.com/final-fantasy-xv-demo-revealed-chinese-ad-release-today/)which allows players to play through some sequences which won’t be included in the final game. Some have been disappointed in the demo’s quality, but some comparison screenshots shared today by a dedicated fan show how good the demo can look in specific circumstances.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/Final-Fantasy-XV-Comparison-635x357.png
NeoGAF user Krammy has shared a couple of Final Fantasy XV Platinum Demo comparison screenshots (http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=200096004&postcount=3800)showcasing better graphics when the game’s paused. The difference, while not major, is definitely noticeable.

Following the first screenshots, Krammy has shared three additional ones (http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=200096898&postcount=3803)under different lighting conditions, showing how nice the demo can look while paused.

Unlike what many were expecting, a PC version (http://wccftech.com/final-fantasy-xv-pc-version-listed-gamestop-ad/) of the game has been confirmed during last week’s Uncovered Final Fantasy XV event. According to Game Director Hajime Tabata, Square Enix is aware of the demand, but was unable to develop the game simultaneously on consoles and PC. Once Final Fantasy XV is out on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, the team will take a look at the possibility.

Unfortunately ,we weren’t able to do simultaneous development on a PC and console version for XV. We had to focus on the console version and our goal was to maximize, optimize everything for the HD consoles. Once that’s done, then we will definitely take a good, hard look at PC and what we need to do, and consider all our options. But right now we aren’t decided, we’re still considering a lot of things.
Final Fantasy XV launches on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 30th in all regions.

Watch Square Enix answer your burning Final Fantasy 15 questions (http://www.tweaktown.com/news/51463/watch-square-enix-answer-burning-final-fantasy-15-questions/index.html)

Final Fantasy 15 game director Hajime Tabata spills the beans on a ton of new game info, answering burning community questions around moogles (yes, they're in!), the flying car airship, combat, summons, and much, much more.

<iframe width="781" height="469" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/7fACw0LnW0k" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

While Square Enix's Final Fantasy Uncovered event revealed quite a bit about Final Fantasy 15 (http://www.tweaktown.com/news/51369/final-fantasy-15-release-date-leaked-ahead-schedule/index.html), there's still much more we don't know. Thankfully Tabata-san took some time to sit down with PlayStation Access (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7fACw0LnW0k) and answer a bunch of questions. Check our list below for the major tidbits.

Final Fantasy 15 will have a NewGame+ mode
Moogles are in the game, but tonberries might not be
There are no loading screens while flying around in the car airship
The Justice Monsters app in the console game will carry over to mobile, but in limited ways
FF15 needs to sell 10 million copies in its lifetime for Square Enix to consider it a success
The game will have a photo mode, and Prompto will take the photos--but Square Enix is currently working on letting players take custom photos with the HUD disabled
Remember the old man wearing the trucker hat in the second trailer (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVuhS1ZSKg4)? That was Cid, and he's Cidney's grandfather
Players will be able to train their chocobos using special gyshal greens, which will enhance their abilities and make them stronger. It's exactly the same as the food system in the game, where you cook meals that boost stats.

Final Fantasy 15 is slated to release on September 30 across PS4 and Xbox One, and Square Enix promises to evaluate a PC version in the future. Final Fantasy 15 will also have its own prequel CGI movie called Kingsglaive, as well as a free anime series called Brotherhood that shows the friendship between Noctis, Gladio, Ignis and Prompto.

If you plan on pre-ordering the game be sure to check out the two collector's editions that are now available. Be sure to check out the latest screenshots below!

Final Fantasy XV Will Have New Game Plus Mode & Chocobo Training; Sakaguchi Helped Tabata a Lot

http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/final-fantasy-xv-barbecue-635x357.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/final-fantasy-xv-barbecue.jpg)
Final Fantasy XV will release on September 30 (http://wccftech.com/final-fantasy-xv-release-date-set-september-30/). After years of speculations, the launch date of the latest installment in the biggest JRPG series has been nailed down by Square Enix.
Along with this highly anticipated announcement came a flurry of interviews with the development team, including one where PlayStation Access talked (https://youtu.be/7fACw0LnW0k) to Game Director Hajime Tabata.
Tabata-san answered plenty of fan questions and his answers provided more than a few interesting tidbits of information. For instance, people had been wondering if there would be a New Game Plus mode and Tabata confirmed that it will be in Final Fantasy XV.
Another fan favorite is the fictional Chocobo (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chocobo), a flightless bird creature that is something of a trademark within the Final Fantasy franchise. Tabata confirmed that it will be possible to feed and train the Chocobo in Final Fantasy XV and the system will be the same used for the player character.

Finally, long time fans will be happy to learn that series creator Hironobu Sakaguchi provided feedback and help on Final Fantasy XV. Tabata said:

Since we released the first demo, he’s provided lots of opinions and advice. I’ve solved a few things with his help. He has supported me in a lot of things, actually.
The last main entry in the Final Fantasy franchise, XIII (not counting XIV since it’s an MMORPG), released in 2009. Final Fantasy is the best selling IP for Square Enix and one of the best-selling franchises of all time in gaming; Square Enix confirmed that it’s targeting 10 million units sold for this installment.

Final Fantasy XV Director Admits Series was in a “Tough Spot”

http://i1.wp.com/www.eteknix.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/ffxv.jpg?resize=800%2C512
Hajime Tabata, the director of the forthcoming Final Fantasy XV, has admitted that the series has failed to deliver a truly successful game during the HD era – a “tough spot,” as he puts it – and that the latest entry in the franchise has been forced to take a more “modern” approach in order to be a “challenger again”.
“After a fresh start as Final Fantasy XV, the part that we felt was most necessary was “to modernize Final Fantasy”,” Tabata told Siliconera (http://www.siliconera.com/2016/03/31/hajime-tabata-making-team-challenging-hd-era-final-fantasy-xv/). “Basically, to make a Final Fantasy that works in today’s era. In order to do this, we thought that “Final Fantasy will become the challenger again” and we decided to do everything we can to make this possible.”
Tabata blamed the trappings of HD game development for the oft-criticised linear nature of Final Fantasy XIII, Square Enix’s previous single-player RPG entry (since Final Fantasy XIV is an MMORPG), saying, “I understand that Final Fantasy XIII also had some rough criticism, but that is not what was aimed for, and I’m sure the objective for it was much higher than that. In the end, it became a title known for being linear.”
“That was not something that was aimed for,” he said, “but considering the way things were being done, they were not able to break the walls of HD production, and I believe that the truth of the matter is that they simply weren’t able to make a proper landing.”
He also acknowledged that the burden of the Final Fantasy name weighed heavily on the shoulders of FFXIII’s development team, adding, “If anything, how to break through such a reality was what made it heavy, in that sense. The heaviness of “the Final Fantasy IP is in a tough spot” was at its peak there.”

Final Fantasy 15 has skill trees, dynamic dialogue, over 200 quests (http://www.tweaktown.com/news/51489/final-fantasy-15-skill-trees-dynamic-dialogue-over-200-quests/index.html)

In the latest issue of Game Informer magazine (http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2016/04/05/may-cover-revealed-final-fantasy-xv-88376363045972.aspx), the publication delves into the mythical world of Final Fantasy 15 (http://www.tweaktown.com/news/51275/final-fantasy-15-targeting-30fps-cinematic-experience/index.html) to unveil a bunch of new content for the game. From the coverage we know that Final Fantasy 15 will have a dynamic dialogue system that allows players to choose answers and paths to specific scenarios, and the game may react to player choices. Noctis may also receive special status effects based on his dialogue choices, which could affect quest outcomes as well.

<iframe width="781" height="469" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/7zydNkTjhcc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

There will be over 200 quests in the game, and Square Enix wants to boost that number before the September launch. There are four different types of quests: main story quests, mini-game quests (think fishing and Chocobo racing), monster-hunting quests (like the Deadeye hunt in Episode Duscae), and specific regional quests that vary from location to location. Don't forget that FF15 will have a NewGame+ mode, and the main story will be at least 50 hours long (http://www.tweaktown.com/news/51271/final-fantasy-15s-main-story-50-hours-long/index.html).

Interestingly enough, Final Fantasy 15 will have a skill tree for each of the four main characters so that players can customize their party. After every level up, Ignis, Gladio, Prompto, and Noctis will each receive an Ability point. Ability points can be spent on new unlockable skills as well as passive bonuses like boosting your auto-dodge ability. As we've seen in the Platinum Demo (http://www.tweaktown.com/news/51416/final-fantasy-15-platinum-demo-extremely-lacking/index.html), the game treats magic like a usable item--that is you need a specific item to cast spells. Luckily you'll be able to recharge your magic usage at special points.

Final Fantasy XV Producer Wants PC Version To Be A Tech Showcase, Not A Direct Port

Last month, Square Enix finally revealed the Final Fantasy XV release date (http://wccftech.com/final-fantasy-xv-release-date-set-september-30/) for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The Japanese company has also talked about a possible PC version (http://wccftech.com/final-fantasy-xv-pc-version-listed-gamestop-ad/) of the game, stating that the team will look at it only after the game is out on consoles. Today, more on this possible version of the game has emerged online thanks to a new interview with producer Hajime Tabata.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/Final-Fantasy-XV-PC-635x357.jpg
In a new interview with Jeuxvideo (http://www.jeuxvideo.com/videos/reportages/469464/final-fantasy-xv-hajime-tabata-repond-aux-a-vos-questions.htm), translated by GameFAQs and Final Fantasy XV forums member NoctisPendragon (https://forum.finalfantasyxv.com/discussion/1474/tabata-s-new-interview-for-jvc), Hajime Tabata stated that he would like the PC version of Final Fantasy XV to be a tech showcase, and not a simple port of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One release. To do this, the team would have to start from scratch and do more R&D to see what new tech can be used in this version of the game.

If there was a PC version , Tabata would like the PC version to be a different kind of project : he would like to use the PC version as a tech showcase and put in every tech feature they can …
BUT , if they jump into that kind of project they will have to start from start from scratch and redo some (a lot ) of R&D to see what new tech they can use ( so it won’t be a port ).
Hajime Tabata has also talked about the team’s DLC plans for the game. Apparently, the team wants to make DLC special and a good reason for players to come back to the game. More on them will be coming this Summer.
No Trade-Offs To Include Moogles in Final Fantasy XV; Will Be A Fun Little Extra

PC version of Final Fantasy XV has technology not possible on consoles

It looks like Final Fantasy XV is going to be something special on the PC, according to a new interview with JeuxVideo with Video Game Director for Square Enix, Hajime Tabata.

http://imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/5/1/51543_12_pc-version-final-fantasy-xv-technology-possible-consoles.jpg

Tabata said that the PC version of Final Fantasy XV would be a technology showcase, as it's something truly beyond what the consoles are capable of. Tabata said that Final Fantasy XV would be a "different kind of project", and that the game would be a tech showcase on the PC. He said that it uses the latest technology, something that's not possible on the consoles as they have serious hardware limitations.

He added that if the team does build a PC version of the game, they will have to do a technology overhaul, and completely redo some of the R&D testing to see what new stuff they can "rebuild the game" with. The PC version isn't confirmed, but Tabata says he wants to work on a PC version of the game, once the console version is wrapped up.

Final Fantasy XV is ‘Make or Break’ for the Franchise

http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/Final-Fantasy-XV-PC-635x357.jpg
Final Fantasy XIII and its sequels upset a lot of people, although the recent Steam releases seem to have been better received. Fans seem very excited for Final Fantasy XV, but it has an awful lot to prove if it’s going to put the franchise back on top.
This isn’t a fact that’s been lost on game director Hajime Tabata, who said the next entry in the series could make or break it.
Speaking to Game Informer, he said:

“It is a more grave and serious situation than we had initially thought.
“For Japan, I believe it is a make or break for the franchise. And if the Final Fantasy brand is on its demise in terms of numbered mainline series within Japan, then I feel like it would also follow suit globally.”
That’s clearly not to say that Final Fantasy as we know it would be over. There’s no limit to the number of spin-offs and non-numbered sequels that they could develop. Final Fantasy is one of those franchises that will never disappear. The brand is just too important.
He also said that Final Fantasy VII is the most loved entry in the franchise, and so that’s what XV has to beat. No pressure then.

The verdict:

When I’m riding chocobos across the beach at dusk with my three friends and hunting iconic Final Fantasy monsters in a huge, picturesque open world, Final Fantasy XV feels like nearly everything I could want from a modern Final Fantasy. But when it funnels me into linear scenarios and drab, constricted spaces that plunge the simplistic combat into chaos, my blood boils a bit. There is so much good here, so much heart - especially in the relationships between Noctis and his sworn brothers. It just comes with some changes and compromises that were, at times, difficult for this long-time Final Fantasy fan to come to grips with.
8.2- Great

Final Fantasy 15's own opening text describes it as "a Final Fantasy for fans and newcomers alike." The game contains pieces sure to disappoint players in both camps, but it also provides a refreshingly human take on the classic RPG journey that I hope will inspire future games in the franchise. Final Fantasy 15 can be baffling in some of its questionable choices, but across the board, it hits more than it misses. It hums with an energy and compassion that I loved, a sense of camaraderie, friendship and adventure that fills an old and struggling formula with new relevance.

One of the first things you see when you boot up the game is this claim "A Final Fantasy for fans and first-timers." It's a strange statement; fans can't agree on what makes a good Final Fantasy game, and who knows why newcomers shied away from the series in the past. It's been a long ten years since Final Fantasy XV was first revealed, and tastes have changed in the meantime. While it's safe to assume fans and outsiders will find some aspect of Final Fantasy XV disappointing--be it the shallow story or finnicky Astrals--it would be hard for anyone to deny that Final Fantasy XV is a fascinating game after giving it a chance. Where its characters fail to impress, Final Fantasy XV's beautiful world and exciting challenges save the day.
8/10 - Great

Eurogamer: (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2016-11-28-final-fantasy-15-review)

This troubled history is one of the reasons Final Fantasy 15 is so difficult to pin down. For a series universally known and loved for its emphasis on storytelling, can I recommend a Final Fantasy game despite its unsatisfying story? Instinctively I'd say no, but even as someone who prized the narratives of previous games I still found myself going back to 15's early stages to seek out new challenges after I'd concluded the main campaign. And it's clear that Final Fantasy 15 benefits from a vision, one that emboldened its developers to try new things and reinvent a series while reclaiming the scale that its most ardent fans are used to. In chasing that scale the bigger picture can sometimes get a little obscured, but importantly Final Fantasy 15 retains that love of smaller stories, the ones that often prove to be so much more memorable.
No score (?)

Game Informer: (http://www.gameinformer.com/games/final_fantasy_xv/b/playstation4/archive/2016/11/28/final-fantasy-xv-review.aspx)

Final Fantasy XV is unlike any RPG or open-world experience I’ve played before. It succeeds and struggles in finding its unique stance, but a few problematic designs don’t hold it back from being a hell of a journey. Just days after playing it, I find myself reflecting on it fondly. The thoughts of that damn car are recessed and blanketed by Noctis’ journey and some of the stunning moments that unfolded within it. I wasn’t a fan of Final Fantasy XIII’s sequels, but I hope Square returns with another XV or a similarly designed sequel to iron out the rough spots. There’s a solid foundation here that begs to be explored further.
8.5

Destructoid: (https://www.destructoid.com/review-final-fantasy-xv-399859.phtml)

As I'm typing this up now, I'm seeing a future where people buy Final Fantasy XV due to some of the more positive assessments (like this one), and walk away disappointed. Because if you loathe JRPGs, XV is not going to make you a believer. In a way it's silly that Square spent 10 years making this, and it feels like a really shiny version of something it would have actually made 10 years ago. While a complete overhaul of the genre would certainly suit someone's needs, XV suits mine just fine.
9 - Superb

Then again, the story behind the making of Final Fantasy 15 is kind of a mess too, and it's impossible to know how much of this mish-mash of ideas is the result of its tumultuous history as a spin-off that entered development hell a decade ago or whether this was always what it was meant to be. It's a beautiful mess, though; a fascinating, wonderful, exciting, bold, and often inscrutable mess with endless ambition and the fearlessness to at least try something new with staid genre conventions. Even when it falters, it's never dull, the humanity of its heroes and the warmth of its world shining through even when its story leaves you cold. And if that's not Final Fantasy, I don't know what is.

Final Fantasy XV is about adventure and excitement. There are oddities, and it's not the FF you're used to, but it's a good time with some good boys, and has an unexpected emotional resonance to it. Sometimes it seems like it shouldn't work, but it does.

Final Fantasy XV is a breath of fresh air for the series which was starting to lose its significance after the release of Final Fantasy XIII. It is one of the best open world games on the current generation consoles and a return to form for the franchise.

Jeux Video: (https://www.jeuxvideo.com/test/573862/final-fantasy-xv-univers-envoutant-pour-quete-initiatique-prenante.htm)

Final Fantasy XV is a very different title from what the series has offered us so far. Opting for a more compact narrative lasting about twenty hours, it leaves us spectator of a story much deeper than it seems, sort of desperate initiatory quest. But it also offers a gigantic and magnificent open world with panoramas that make drool. Shielded with ancillary contents to extend the lifetime to a hundred hours, Final Fantasy XV succeeds its bet and proves to be a must-have hit of this end of year, and this despite some finishing worries.

Final Fantasy XV is a glorious return to relevance.

Something wonderful and improbable must have happened towards the end of the topsy-turvy decade it’s taken Square Enix to finally produce a Final Fantasy worth crowing about. Thank director Hajime Tabata for somehow righting the ship. How he did so could presumably fill a book. How many games get 10 years to simmer? Change captains mid-journey? Have lord knows how many investment dollars (to say nothing of franchise esteem) on the line? And how often does vaporware materialize, after years of elliptical studio messaging, this lively and focused and fully realized?

As an RPG, Final Fantasy XV has everything you’d expect: a compelling, emotional story; a tapestry of complimentary mechanics; a significant lifespan; a cast of relatable and well-written characters and a world that’s dense enough to be a character in and of itself. As a Final Fantasy game, it lives up to all the tropes, despite the variations it’s taken from the more ‘classic’ games. Final Fantasy XV is a title that's aimed super high, and although maybe it hasn’t quite hit the targets it set for itself, it certainly doesn’t disappoint, and is a strong enough RPG experience to stand aside The Witcher as one of the best open-world role-playing games of this generation.

The real miracle of Final Fantasy XV is the fact that it hangs together as well as it does. Having gone through so many teardowns and iterations, it was definitely at risk of feeling like an unfocused mess. Structurally, though, it's surprisingly coherent, and technically speaking, it holds up very well. In short, director Hajime Tabata and his team are miracle workers. Hopefully this means Tabata will get a crack at the next game in the series: he deserves a fresh start and a chance to build his vision from the ground up. But even if he doesn't, he and his team should get all the credit in the world for taking such a benighted project and turning it into something worth playing.

I was really skeptical that Final Fantasy XV could ever be successful; but despite some real flaws, it ultimately won me over. I warmed to the characters over the course of many camping trips, found more than I was expecting in the open world, and even enjoyed the bombastic set pieces. I have no doubt that it will be harshly criticized in some circles, but it also has some real merit. Stick with it even if you find yourself rolling your eyes at the opening hours: You may be surprised by how much you end up enjoying yourself.
