HTC One M9’s MASSIVE Leak Pegs Down Complete Device Specifications

When it comes to upcoming flagships at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, looks like the HTC One M9’s decided to show up today again with a highly detailed leak detailing several of the upcoming device’s features and specifications. In addition to device specifications, a list of accessories for the HTC One M9 has leaked as well, making this today’s most detailed leak.

The HTC One M9 will be coming with an impressive rear camera of resolution 20 MP. The device will also be coming with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810, with its eight set of cores. This will be supplemented by a 5 inch screen. For thsoe who were rooting for a higher resolution display for HTC’s flagship, we have some disappointing news today as according to upleaks (http://upleaks.info/2015/02/13/htc-one-m9hima/), HTC will be sticking with FHD on the One M9.A detailed look at the phone’s potential offerings can be taken below:

0PJA series
Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 MSM8994 2.0GHz*4 + 1.5GHz*4
5″ FHD Display
3GB DDR4 RAM
32GB or 64GB ROM
Support VoLTE, Carrier Aggregation and LTE Category 6 up to 300Mbps for Download, 50Mbps for Upload
Android 5.0.2 with Sense 7.0(TBD for Android version)
20.7MP Main Camera with Dual LED Flash
4MP UltraPixel Front Camera
BoomSound
Bluetooth 4.1
micro SD Card slot
2840mAh Battery

A couple of interesting features in today’s information include an all new Sense UI for the One M9 and 3 GB of the latest DDR4 RAM in the mix as well. Given Sense 7’s overall fluidity of use, the HTC One M9 has the full potential to be amongst the top flagship contenders out there. The FHD resolution that HTC has chosen to stick to will also help conserve the device’s rather modest 2840 mAh battery. All eyes on Barcelona now when we’ll finally be able to know exactly what each device can offer.

HTC One M9 will reportedly have 8-core processor and 1080p display

We should expect to see the HTC One M9 unveiled very soon at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, but before then we're seeing more detailed leaks on HTC's upcoming flagship smartphone.

image: http://imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/4/3/43519_01_htc-one-m9-reportedly-8-core-processor-1080p-display.jpg (http://www.tweaktown.com/image.php?image=imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/4/3/43519_01_htc-one-m9-reportedly-8-core-processor-1080p-display_full.jpg)
http://imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/4/3/43519_01_htc-one-m9-reportedly-8-core-processor-1080p-display.jpg

The HTC One M9 should feature a 5-inch screen, with a resolution of 1920x1080, which is a bit of a let down compared to its competitors with 1440p displays. We should see an 8-core processor, 3GB of DDR4 RAM, 32/64GB of on-board storage, support for LTE Category 6 (300/50Mbps), Android 5.0.2 Lollipop with Sense 7.0, a 20.7-megapixel rear-facing camera, 4-megapixel UltraPixel front-facing camera, BoomSound, Bluetooth 4.1, a microSD card slot and a 2840mAh battery.

Some of you might have noticed in those specifications that we've written DDR4 RAM, which is an interesting addition to the mix. The Full HD display will provide additional battery life compared to those with a QHD panel, so while HTC won't win at display resolution, it should have a decent amount of battery life compared to competing handsets.

Complete List Of Sense 7 Apps Leaks For The HTC One M9 Showing What The Flagship Might Come With
Following the leaks and rumors surrounding the Samsung Galaxy S6 which will be shown off by the manufactured in Barcelona this March, its time for HTC’s flagship spotlight today. The HTC One M9 will also be launched by the manufacturer in Spain and is heavily anticipated owing to the manufacturer’s overall design prowess when it comes to smartphones. Well, to spice things up, a lsit of apps for the HTC One M9 has been posted by upleaks (https://twitter.com/upleaks/status/568033805073715202) so now we can take a look at all that can be expected from HTC’s upgraded UI on the One M9.

<ins data-adsbygoogle-status="done" class="adsbygoogle" style="display:inline-block;width:336px;height:280px" data-ad-client="ca-pub-5257724448514074" data-ad-slot="4225663910"><ins id="aswift_0_expand" style="display:inline-table;border:none;height:280px;margin:0;padding:0; position:relative;visibility:visible;width:336px;b ackground-color:transparent"><ins id="aswift_0_anchor" style="display:block;border:none;height:280px;margin:0;pa dding:0;position:relative;visibility:visible;width :336px;background-color:transparent"></ins></ins></ins> http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/HTC-One-M9-app-list-635x902.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/HTC-One-M9-app-list.jpg)HTC One M9 App List Leaks Detailing What Might Be Present On Sense 7 Taking a look at the apps above, looks like HTC’s choosing to focus more on visual and performance when it comes to the latest iteration of its UI for the One M9. All the standard apps such as Facebook, Twitter, Google Maps and HTC Connect amongst other seem to have made it on the One M9. So until we receive leaked screenshots of the UI as had been the case of Sense 6 Integration with Android Lollipop or HTC flat out launches the device, there’s no way to say for certain what the UI will contain.
That’s not to say that we don’t have some idea of what updates HTC might be bringing through Sense 7. The UI is rumored to come with an avatar building interface, that should be a pleasant surprise for many users if true. Other specifications for the device are so far rumored to be the Snapdragon 810, 3 GB of RAM and 1080p screen resolution. HTC’s also expected to make away with dual cameras on the One M9, with the device anticipated to get a Sony camera sensor with a resolution of 20.7 MP. A;; we can do now is wait for the MWC due to be held in Barcelona, Spain when we can learn more about the device. Stay tuned, we’ll keep you updated.

HTC One M9 smartphone to be launched on 1st March

Mobile device maker HTC has officially announced the launch date of the 'new HTC One'. The new flagship smartphone, commonly referred to as the 'HTC One M9' or 'HTC Hima' by the tech press, will be revealed on 1st March, according to a posting on the HTC UK (https://twitter.com/HTC_UK/status/567783134180040704) official Twitter account.
http://hexus.net/media/uploaded/2015/2/c9f61441-f5f1-46ee-9dcb-2bc87f1d989b.jpg
HTC had already confirmed (http://hexus.net/ce/news/mobile-phones/79621-htc-announce-one-m9-smartphone-mwc-march/) a press event at 4pm CET on Sunday 1st March in Barcelona, just ahead of the MWC 2015. We saw an invite circulating for a 'Utopia in progress' event, subtitled 'join us to see what's next'. Bloomberg (http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2015-01-19/htc-said-to-plan-better-camera-phone-first-smartwatch-in-march.html)'s sources tipped that a new HTC One would be the star of the show. We also expect some other handsets, tablets and possibly a wearable to be revealed by the Taiwanese firm.
Guestimates concerning the hardware that will be incorporated inside the new HTC One include the following:

Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core
Display: 5-inch 1920 x 1080 pixels
Cameras: 20.7-megapixel rear camera, 4-megapixel HTC UltraPixel front camera
Sound: Dolby 5.1 audio technology
OS/UI: HTC’s latest Sense 7 user interface with improved location-based services
Construction: gold, gray and silver options

Looking at designs, French leaksters nowhereelse.fr (http://www.nowhereelse.fr/htc-one-m9-photo-version-or-104831/) say that the pictures below are photos of a shell from the upcoming HTC flagship. The "let them stare" Twitter tease suggests that the new HTC One will perhaps be eye-catchingly attractive, I'm not sure that the photos below are evidence of that though. Alternatively the strapline could allude to some other visual/imaging qualities that the smartphone offers such as exceptional low light photography.

It definitely looks like we will be flooded with smartphone news in a fortnight's time. Which upcoming handsets are readers most looking forward to?

Major HTC One M9 Benchmarks Posting Turns Out To Be Disappointing – No Snapdragon 810 On Board?

With things getting interesting before the upcoming flagship launches at the Mobile World Congress due to be held in Barcelona Spain, we have more benchmarks for you today from one of the upcoming devices. While the Samsung Galaxy S6 has been the star of benchmark leaks over the past couple of days, looks like the HTC One M9 has decided to break radio silence on benchmarks with a leak of its own today albeit with a disappointment.

<ins data-adsbygoogle-status="done" class="adsbygoogle" style="display:inline-block;width:336px;height:280px" data-ad-client="ca-pub-5257724448514074" data-ad-slot="4225663910"><ins id="aswift_0_expand" style="display:inline-table;border:none;height:280px;margin:0;padding:0; position:relative;visibility:visible;width:336px;b ackground-color:transparent"><ins id="aswift_0_anchor" style="display:block;border:none;height:280px;margin:0;pa dding:0;position:relative;visibility:visible;width :336px;background-color:transparent"></ins></ins></ins> http://cdn3.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/Suspected-HTC-One-M9-specs-635x791.png (http://cdn3.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/Suspected-HTC-One-M9-specs.png)Latest Benchmark Leak Pegs HTC’s Upcoming Flagship With A MediaTek Processor Today’s benchmark, posted on the site CompuBench (http://www.compubench.com/device.jsp?benchmark=compu20&os=Android&api=rs&D=HTC+0PK71&testgroup=info) features an HTC device with the codename OPK71. While there’s no certainty in stating that the device is the One M9 but the codename does bear resemblance to the symbols speculated to belong to the One M9. Specifications for the device are also quite similar to what’s being rumored so far. The benchmark lists the device with a 5.1 inch screen touting a display resolution of 1440 x 2560. RAM for the alleged HTC One M9 prototype is listed as 3 GB and the camera resolution is 19 MP – as opposed to the 20.7 MP Sony sensor the HTC flagship is speculated to come with.
The disappointing bit of news today’s benchmark carry is the presence of a MediaTek processor on the device. IF the device listed above is indeed the HTC One M9 then the MediaTek MT6795 won’t end up doing the device any justice if it is to compete with the top smartphone flagships out there. Coming with eight ARM A53 cores, the processor does pack a performance punch, but it isn’t heavy enough by far to power a top tier flagship device. So all we can do is hope that the device above is a prototype intended to test features apart from the performance on the HTC One M9. Or maybe its the company’s way of adding more speculation around its upcoming device. All will become clear in less than two weeks. Stay tuned.

HTC One M9's Design, Colors Revealed In New Press Renders
We’re just a little over a week away from the official unveil of HTC (http://hothardware.com/tags/htc)’s next generation flagship: the One M9 (http://hothardware.com/tags/one-m9). The smartphone will be unveiled in Barcelona, Spain at the Mobile World Congress, but that isn’t stopping new renders of the One M9 in its final form from leaking to the Internet.

German Retailer CyberPort posted press renders of the One M9 in a few different color combinations including gunmetal grey and gold/silver. Not surprisingly, the renders match up nicely with leaked photos that we’ve already seen (http://hothardware.com/news/htc-one-m9-makes-appearance-in-new-leaked-photos) of the One M9. For better or worse, the One M9 isn’t a drastic departure from the current generation One M8 (http://hothardware.com/tags/one-m8), which itself was a clear evolution of the One M7 (http://hothardware.com/tags/one-m7). However, the design of the One series has been generally well received by the tech press and customers, so why ruin a good thing?

image: http://hothardware.com/ContentImages/NewsItem/32729/content/small_one_m9_gold.jpg (http://hothardware.com/gallery/NewsItem/32729?image=big_one_m9_gold.jpg)
http://hothardware.com/ContentImages/NewsItem/32729/content/small_one_m9_gold.jpg

When it comes to specs, most agree that the smartphone will feature Qualcomm (http://hothardware.com/tags/qualcomm)’s Snapdragon 810 (http://hothardware.com/tags/snapdragon-810) processor, 3GB of RAM, a 20MP rear camera, 13MP front-facing camera, and a 5-inch display. As for that display, word on the street is that HTC isn’t joining its competitors in the effort to spread QHD (http://hothardware.com/tags/qhd) (2560x1440) resolutions to flagship smartphones. Instead, HTC is likely looking to preserve battery life by retaining a 1080p display.

image: http://hothardware.com/ContentImages/NewsItem/32729/content/small_one_m9_gunmetal.jpg (http://hothardware.com/gallery/NewsItem/32729?image=big_one_m9_gunmetal.jpg)
http://hothardware.com/ContentImages/NewsItem/32729/content/small_one_m9_gunmetal.jpg

Back in May 2014, Huawei (http://hothardware.com/tags/huawei) Consumer Business Group CEO Richard Yu trashed the idea of QHD screens on smartphones (http://www.techradar.com/news/phone-and-communications/mobile-phones/huawei-qhd-screens-are-nonsense--1247650), stating, “I don't think we need QHD displays on mobiles. Your eyes totally cannot identify between full HD and 2K on a smartphone. You can't distinguish the difference, so it's totally nonsense.”
Yu went on to add, “[Your] eyes cannot see the difference, so why should we do that? I think it's a stupid thing."
We don’t know if HTC has the same strong opinions about QHD screens on smartphones as Yu, but we definitely feel that its decision to stick with 1080p will allow the One M9 to hover near the top of the charts when it comes to battery life compared to its peers.

HTC One M9 leaked in Germany

http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/4e6734eb2f644b5b38c50b44018ec865_L.jpg (http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/4e6734eb2f644b5b38c50b44018ec865_XL.jpg)

Evolutionary design, no big surprises
The new HTC One M9 has been leaked by a German retailer, complete with official renders and specs.

The phone features a very familiar design and looks a lot like the M8 and M7 before it. This is not a bad thing, since the One series always featured a minimalistic, premium design. The biggest changes are under the bonnet. The new HTC One features a Snapdragon 810 SoC, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage and – wait for it – a microSD slot.
The 5-inch screen is said to be a 1080p unit. The phone packs a 20-megapixel main camera and a 4-megapixel UltraPixel front camera. The battery is a 2900mAh unit, which is not bad, but not spectacular either.
HTC is expected to formally announce the new One M9 next week. We cannot confirm whether or not these specs are spot on, since there are a few things that don’t add up – namely the inclusion of a microSD slot and screen resolution, so take this with a grain of salt.

Leakers Looking To Top One Another With Successive HTC One M9 Specs Leaks

Leaks and speculation surrounding two of the Android World’s most anticipated devices, the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the HTC One M9 have started to occur side by side it seems. After we’ve seen two leaks per day minimum for the Galaxy S6, its time for the One M9 to rear its head and provide us with even more insight into HTC’s flagship, which carries several upgrades not only in specifications but also on the way the Taiwanese manufacturer views its device.

The device can be expected to be launched with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 with eight cores, clocked at 1.5 and 2.0 GHz respectively. UI on the One M9 will be HTC’s upgrade to the Sense 7 and the device will come running Android 5.0.2. Today’s more interesting piece of news when it comes to the One M9 however is the camera sensor on the device, which will come with a resolution of 20 MP, making sure that HTC’s device is also a forerunner when it comes to your smartphone photography needs.

Rather, the manufacturer will be choosing Toshiba as the company of choice and will be slightly wider than the one suggested above, with an aperture width of f/2.4. Seems even the more interesting. All eyes pinned on Barcelona now, where Samsung and HTC both present us with their latest offerings.

HTC One M9’s Promotional Videos And Pictures LEAK! Showcase What To Expect From Upcoming Device

Looks like one device is eager to get ahead of the rest when it comes to leaks. And not, its not the Galaxy S6, as you’d expect to believe over the past couple of months. Rather, its the second anticipated launch at MWC this year, the HTC One M9. HTC’s flagship seems to have leaked in its entirety when it comes to design, courtesy of the notorious Upleaks. You can take a look at the screenshots of HTC’s official promotional videos below.
http://cdn4.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/screen-shot-2015-02-24-at-1-23-03-pm-635x351.png (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/screen-shot-2015-02-24-at-1-23-03-pm.png)HTC’s Upcoming One M9 Flagship Leaks Out In Entirety – Take A Look At Sense 7, Protruding Rear Camera And More Looks like someone’s going to be in some good trouble over at HTC, as the company has once again seen detailed specifications of one of its upcoming devices get leaked. We’ve seen several specs and benchmark leaks of the One M9, the majority of which point towards the Snapdragon 810 being the processor of choice on the HTC device, with a 20 MP rear camera coupled with audio technology straight from Dolby itself. Today’s leak focuses more on the overall design of the device, which doesn’t seem to have changed that much.

Not that that’s a bad thing. The One M8 was a pretty decent device when it came to design, and HTC’s choice to stick to the tried and tested might have provided the company the opportunity to focus elsewhere. Perhaps the primary standing point of the One M9 will be its performance, particularly the integration of Android Lollipop coupled with an upgraded Sense UI, Sense 7. This, topped off by the Snapdragon 810, which is what the device is expected to come with, despite benchmarks pointing otherwise, a 20MP rear camera, upgraded BoomSound speakers and an UltraPixel Selfie camera should make the device a decent offering for anyone wanting a flagship upgrade this year. So enjoy the massive HTC One M9 leak today, and let us know what you think in the comments section.

Final Nail In The Coffin; HTC One M9 Hands On Video Leaks At MWC!

Samsung and HTC’s upcoming flagships at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona seem to be in a race for leaks it seems. After we saw the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge leak once again today in a new video, HTC’s flagship has one-upped its Korean counterpart in a brand new video leak that comes straight from MWC and compares the One M9 to its predecessors, the One M7 and the One M8.

HTC One M9 Leaks In Comparison Video Ahead Of MWC Barcelona – Device Similar To One M8 In Design

As you can see above, looking at its predecessors, the One M9 seems to have altered very little when it comes to overall design o the device. However, once we take a look at the sides of the device, the Taiwanese manufacturer seems to have paid attention to the details on its flagship smartphone. In what’s called a dual-finish metal unibody. This gives the sides of the One M9 a golden finish when compared to the silver metal back of the device. Keep in mind that the device still uses a unibody; the sides and the back are different in terms of finish.
The power buttons and the volume controls on the One M9 are all present on the left side now, underneath the sim card holder. The bottom of the device stays similar to the One M8 and as expected, dual camera is also a thing of the past on the company’s latest flagship. Camera resolution also appears to have been boosted up to 20 MP, a feature many HTC users have been clamoring for a long time and will help the device’s standing amongst other flagships. The reason behind a single camera lens on the One M9 is said to be space limitations by the manufacturer; as stated in the video. The Ultra-Pixel front camera for the device stands at a resolution of 4 MP. That’s all for now folks. Enjoy the video above and stay tuned for tomorrow. Cheers.

HTC One M9 To Cost $650; Device Posted On BestBuy Ahead Of Launch

Another piece in the HTC One M9 puzzle ahead of the device’s launch today at the MWC in Barcelona has been posted online. After the device leaked out in its entirety (Once again) yesterday in a comparison video made at MWC, this time its retailer Best Buy who has gone ahead and listed the device on its site with its price and complete specifications.

<ins data-adsbygoogle-status="done" class="adsbygoogle" style="display:inline-block;width:336px;height:280px" data-ad-client="ca-pub-5257724448514074" data-ad-slot="4225663910"><ins id="aswift_0_expand" style="display:inline-table;border:none;height:280px;margin:0;padding:0; position:relative;visibility:visible;width:336px;b ackground-color:transparent"><ins id="aswift_0_anchor" style="display:block;border:none;height:280px;margin:0;pa dding:0;position:relative;visibility:visible;width :336px;background-color:transparent"></ins></ins></ins> http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/one-m9-best-635x296.png (http://cdn3.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/one-m9-best.png)HTC One M9 Posted On Best Buy With Price And Complete Specifications A look at the device’s listing on Best Buy (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/htc-one-m9-4g-with-32gb-memory-cell-phone-gray-at-t/3930032.p?id=1219609309193&skuId=3930032&pid=1219609309193) today gives us a hint at what price we can expect for HTC’s and Android flagships coming with the Snapdragon 810 and other top notch specifications in general. The 32 GB variant of the HTC One M9 has been listed with a price tag of $649.99 and is listed with AT&T’s Next option on the retailer’s website. In addition to the price, several specifications of the device have also been listed today. You can take a look at them below.
http://cdn4.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/one-m9-best2-635x325.png (http://cdn3.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/one-m9-best2.png)As expected before, and further collaborated by today’s listing, HTC’s flagship will be coming with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 on board. The Snapdragon 810 is the company’s first octa-core, 64 bit SoC and will bring significant performance enhancements on the floor despite several issues it has been rumored to be facing. The Snapdragon 810 will be supplemented by 3 GB of RAM on the device. The HTC One M9 will also come running Android 5.0 out of the box, and as anticipated below, the rear camera has finally seen an upgrade to 20 MP, with the front camera having a resolution of 4 MP. Other specifications listed for the device on the site include a 5 inch screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1080, which is, once again, something that has been rumored before as well. With the price of the One M9 also being leaked today, it makes us wonder what’s left for HTC to announce at the MWC today. We’ll find out in just a couple of hours, so stay tuned.

HTC One M9 Shows Up At Best Buy, 5-Inch 1080p Display And Snapdragon 810 Confirmed
If the transition from the Galaxy S4 (http://hothardware.com/tags/galaxy-s4) to Galaxy S5 (http://hothardware.com/tags/galaxy-s5) was disappointing to customers and detrimental to Samsung’s smartphone sales/earnings (http://hothardware.com/news/samsung-freezes-salaries-following-mobile-implosion-and-titanic-profit-collapse), we have to wonder if the same fate will befall HTC. We hope not, but the HTC One M9 (http://hothardware.com/tags/htc-one-m9)’s specs have been officially outed by Best Buy, and for better or worse, it’s more of the same (http://hothardware.com/news/htc-one-m9-design-colors-revealed-in-new-renders).

As we have detailed in previous articles (http://hothardware.com/news/htc-one-m9-makes-appearance-in-new-leaked-photos), the HTC One M9 carries on the same design theme that we first saw with the One M7 and continued with the One M8 (http://hothardware.com/tags/one-m8). It’s a clean, sleek, industrial look, but it would have been nice to see HTC spice things up a bit. With Samsung swinging for the fences design-wise with the Galaxy S6 (http://hothardware.com/tags/galaxy-s6-) and Galaxy S6 Edge (http://hothardware.com/tags/galaxy-s6-edge), we’ll just have to see how HTC’s conservative approach pans out in the marketplace.

image: http://hothardware.com/ContentImages/NewsItem/32801/content/one-m9.jpg
http://hothardware.com/ContentImages/NewsItem/32801/content/one-m9.jpg

HTC is also holding the line when it comes to the One M9’s display. Instead of going with a QHD resolution like its flagship peers, the One M9 uses a 5-inch 1080p display. This may disappoint the spec-racers out there, but HTC’s move is likely to be a boon for battery life.
Moving on to One M9’s internals, things get a bit more interesting with a 2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 (http://hothardware.com/tags/snapdragon-810) processor with 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, a microSD slot with support for up to 128GB, a 20MP rear camera, and a 4MP front-facing camera. The device of course runs Android 5.0 Lollipop.
Interestingly enough, Best Buy has already posted the off-contract pricing for the One M9, which rings in at $649.99 for the AT&T version. With so many leaks ahead of today’s official announcement, there’s not much left to reveal. Perhaps we’ll hear some more details about the One M9’s cameras, but the cat is pretty much out of the bag.

[With Official Images] HTC Launches The HTC One M9 With 20 MP Rear Camera And Snapdragon 810 On Board

The HTC One M9 has just been officially launched by the Taiwanese manufacturer and the device is everything that we’ve been expecting so far. Coming with the Snapdragon 810 and a 20 MP rear camera, today’s launch makes HTC’s device one of the most solid looking Android flagships out there. According to CEO Peter Chow, the company has paid particular focus over the design and according to HTC’s Creative head the One M9 combines the antenna technology of the One M7 with the ergonomics of the One M8.
http://cdn3.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/one-m9-presetn-635x377.png (http://cdn3.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/one-m9-presetn.png)HTC One M9 Launched With Snapdragon 810 On Board – Device To Come With Four Color Options And Improved Camera As has been anticipated owing to a large amount of leaks and rumors prior to today’s launch, the HTC One M9 will be coming with the Snapdragon 810 on board. Today’s launch makes HTC the second manufacturer to use Qualcomm’s latest chipset on its device, after Samsung will in most likelihood abandon it for the Exynos 7420 at the Galaxy S6 due to be launched in approximately two hours. Aside from the Snapdragon 810, HTC has focused on the little details on its latest flagship smartphone. These include a dual finish metal unibody, which gives the back of the device and its sides a different finish despite being part of the same metal uni body. Its also claimed by the company to be industry’s first in dual finish on a single body.

The rear camera has been boosted to a resolution of 20 MP, putting it at par with the top Android flagships to be expected this year. The front camera has an Ultra Pixel super wide lens with 300% more light capturing meaning that you can now be assured that your selfie taking needs will be met completely. HTCs paid particular focus on photography and images this time around with the HTC One gallery shown off today with the One M9. HTC One gallery allows integration of images on facebook, Google Drive and more to make sure your photos never get lost. Design wise, the volume and power buttons, coupled with the SIM card slot are all now present on the left of the device. The device will be available in four color options. These are Silver, Pink, Gunmetal Grey and Gold.
http://cdn4.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/dolby-one-m9-635x328.png (http://cdn3.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/dolby-one-m9.png)Dolby Surround sound for the front speakers on the device is also confirmed today, with your BoomSound speakers now integrating Dolby 5.1 channel surround sound. Screen size for the HTC One M9 also seems to stay at 5 inches. All in all, HTC seems to have pulled off a good looking device indeed if you’re not a major fan of design upgrades. Processor, speakers, camera and battery all have received upgrades and all of this integrated with Android Lollipop and Sense 7 should make for seamless device performance indeed. Sense 7 will start out with over the air updates and the device will be available starting March for Asia and other regions. Like HTC’s offerings today? All The Screenshots Of The HTC Sense 7 UI Upgrade That You Could Ever Want Are Here

HTC has just launched the One M9 at the Mobile World Congress taking place in Barcelona, Spain and with it comes its latest UI, Sense 7. Sense 7 has been a cause of anticipation amongst HTC users lately, particularly due to the launch of Android Lollipop last year by Google. Well, you’re not going to have to wait any longer for Sense 7 as we’ve managed to get our hands on all the screenshots you could wish for the UI. So head over below for Sense 7 screenshots by HTC.
http://cdn3.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/HTC-Sense7-635x1129.png (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/HTC-Sense7.png)All The HTC Sense 7 Images You Could Dream Of Are Here – Take A Look At Them Below HTC brings several changes to the Sense User Interface this time around with the Sense 7 upgrade. You can take a look at them in the photo gallery below. These start with a complete change up of the basic interface on the UI. User customization, as can be seen below is also taken to another level with Sense 7 and you now have a large number of themes to choose from on Sense 7. Google’s Material Design for Android Lollipop has also made it on board Sense 7, with the flatter look and the card based notification system.

Performance is the one feature that receives the greatest attention and perhaps improvement on the UI due to a couple of factors. These start with the all new Snapdragon 810 powering the UI and Android Lollipop’s performance enhancement features. Sense 7 ends up being simplistic, easy to use and easy on the eyes overall. So now you’ll be able to customize your HTC device like never before with this upgrade. Sense 7 will be available to One M8 and other HTC devices in the form of an OTA update soon so stay sharp for the update to hit your device. Meanwhile, enjoy the screenshots below, and let us know what you think.

HTC One M9 is official, bringing evolutionary refinement to the same formula

http://www.techspot.com/images2/news/bigimage/2015-03-01-image-4.jpgHTC was one of the first to launch a flagship Android smartphone last year and as testament of how good the One M8 was, it still made the list of the best Android phones (http://www.techspot.com/article/897-best-android-smartphones-2014/) in the market by year's end.
The new HTC One M9 is now official and it's not a radical redesign but an evolutionary refinement of the same metal unibody formula, boasting of a thinner profile and improved camera (One M8's lowest point) running on top of Android 5.0 Lollipop.
Announced at Mobile World Congress, the One M9 is powered by a Snapdragon 810 octa-core SoC running at 2GHz, 3GB RAM, 32/64GB of internal storage expandable via microSD, and the same BoomSound speakers that people loved in the previous-gen One. The 4 megapixel 'UltraPixel' camera has been replaced by a 20-megapixel rear facing camera that slightly protrudes on the back.
The new HTC One M9 is not a radical redesign but an evolutionary refinement of the same metal unibody formula
The shape of the M9 is seemingly identical to the M8, but upon closer inspection it's been made easier to grip, has sharper edges, and the back is not as slippery as before. The power button has been relocated to the side which is arguably the better placement for a large 5-inch handset.
http://www.techspot.com/images2/news/bigimage/2015-03-01-image-5.jpg
The One M9 keeps the display at 5 inches and 1080p resolution, quite possibly a good thing if you want a balanced smartphone. HTC has managed to fit a slightly larger battery rated at 2,840 mAh with support for Quick Charging.
Android 5.0 has been customized with HTC Sense 7, and while generally these OS modifications add more inconsistency than anything else to Android, Sense 7 has been favored so far by those who have briefly used the phone for its lack of bloat and added personalization.
HTC also announced some accesories for the new M9. A second generation Dot View case (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7n34bkF-Ew) that combines a cover with clever through-the-case notifications. The M9 is not waterproof out of the box but an IP68 water resistant Active Case and Active Headset will also be available for purchase.
The new HTC One will be available in the U.S. from all four major carriers and other retailers by the end of March. No official word on pricing yet, but a leak from Best Buy earlier today suggested the One M9 would cost $649.99 off-contract, which would put it at $199 from a carrier with a two-year commitment.

HTC One M9 priced at €749 off-contract

http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/b3e50bad98d1e6a5860f62b4945790ed_L.jpg (http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/b3e50bad98d1e6a5860f62b4945790ed_XL.jpg)

€50 more than comparable Galaxy S6
A number of European retailers have listed the new HTC One M9 this morning, but the €749 price is bound to raise an eyebrow or two.

HTC launched the One M9 (http://www.fudzilla.com/news/mobile/37139-htc-officially-announces-one-m9) yesterday at the sidelines of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. BestBuy leaked the US retail price yesterday, and it was supposedly $649. However early listings in Europe (http://geizhals.eu/htc-one-m9-grau-a1237408.html?hloc=at&hloc=de&hloc=pl&hloc=uk&hloc=eu) paint a much bleaker picture for HTC’s new flagship.
Mind you, we are not talking about a single source, or small shops for that matter – the €749 price comes from MediaMarkt, Saturn, norebooksbilliger.de and redcoon.de. All four are major e-tailers in the DACH region.
At the same time, the same retailers have listed Samsung’s new Galaxy S6 at €699. The sexier and pricier Galaxy S6 Edge is listed at €849. Naturally we are talking about 32GB models. Of course, these prices are not official and are subject to change, as neither phone is currently shipping.
While we could justify HTC's premium pricing in the past, when it squared off against plasticky Galaxy S models with nearly identical hardware, that's simply no longer the case, as the new Galaxy S6 has a premium build and a better spec all around.

Hands-on with HTC's latest One M9 smartphone at MWC 2015

MWC 2015 - Our man on the ground at Mobile World Congress, Johannes Knapp, scored some hands-on time with the Galaxy S6 from Samsung earlier today, but now we have some time with the gorgeous HTC One M9 smartphone (http://www.tweaktown.com/news/43843/htc-unveils-new-one-m9-smartphone-mwc-2015/index.html).

HTC One M9, Hands-On At MWC 2015

http://media.bestofmicro.com/9/R/482463/gallery/HTC-One-M9-Hands-on-3_w_600.jpg (http://www.tomshardware.com/gallery/HTC-One-M9-Hands-on-3,0101-482463-0-2-12-1-jpg-.html)After months of rumors, speculations and leaks, HTC finally showed off its latest flagship handset, the One M9, at Mobile World Congress 2015. The M9 doesn't stray very far from the design of last year's M8, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. While some may argue that it is an iterative and unimaginative update, the M8 was widely considered to be one of the best Android smartphones ever made, so why mess with a good thing? Thankfully, HTC did address one of the M8's major failings by upgrading the camera on the M9 to something substantially better (at least on paper, as we haven't had a chance to test it out yet).
We were able to go hands-on with the One M9 at MWC, and you can read our impressions and watch and video of it below.

Looking at the hardware specifications above, you can see that other than the SoC and camera, there is not much difference between the M9 and the M8. We did decide also to include the specs of the Samsung Galaxy S 6 just to give an idea of how the two top Android phones of Q2 2015 compare. Unlike last year, where the materials used by Samsung clearly differentiated the Galaxy S5 from the One M8, this time around both phones are made from premium materials. This makes the decision as to which to go with even harder, because as you can see, there is not much to differentiate them when it comes to the hardware specifications. One thing we will say is that the M9 does have one big advantage over the GS 6 – HTC wisely decided to still include a microSD slot on its latest device.
http://media.bestofmicro.com/9/M/482458/gallery/HTC-One-M9-Hands-on-5_w_600.jpgHTC announced that the M9 will come in four different colors, two of which incorporate HTC's unique "Dual-tone" finish. This combines two different shades of metal into the same unibody chassis construction. The four colors are dual-tone silver and rose gold, single-tone gunmetal grey, single-tone gold, and dual-tone gold and pink. Unfortunately, HTC only had the silver and rose gold and the gunmetal grey models on display at the show, which you can see above.
In the hands-on video below we go over the hardware of the M9 and also compare it to the M8. We also go over in detail what new software features have been added to HTC's new Sense 7 UI that runs on top of Android 5.0.2 Lollipop.

The slot for the nano-SIM can be found on the left of the phone.

The volume rockers and microSD card slot are also on the right side of the phone.
http://media.bestofmicro.com/9/S/482464/gallery/HTC-One-M9-Hands-on-15_w_600.jpg (http://www.tomshardware.com/gallery/HTC-One-M9-Hands-on-15,0101-482464-0-2-12-1-jpg-.html)The above shows the new 20.7 MP camera. Unlike the M8's flush camera module, the camera on the M9 is raised slightly from the back, something we have recently seen on a few phones. HTC used sapphire glass for the lens cover, which should prevent it being scratched. The M9 also has a dual-LED dual-tone flash like the M8.
http://media.bestofmicro.com/9/T/482465/gallery/HTC-One-M9-Hands-on-16_w_600.jpg (http://www.tomshardware.com/gallery/HTC-One-M9-Hands-on-16,0101-482465-0-2-12-1-jpg-.html)Around front is the 4 MP UltraPixel camera. Its wide f/2.0 aperture and large pixel size due to its resolution will help when taking selfies in low light, and its wide-angle lens will help with those group selfies.
HTC One M9 vs. One M8 http://media.bestofmicro.com/9/N/482459/gallery/HTC-One-M9-Hands-on-8_w_600.jpg (http://www.tomshardware.com/gallery/HTC-One-M9-Hands-on-8,0101-482459-0-2-12-1-jpg-.html)When placed side by side, from the front there is little to distinguish the M9 from the M8. However, on closer inspection you can see that the M9 is slightly shorter and narrower than the M8, making it a little easier to hold.
The screen is the same size and resolution, and the bezels are sadly still a little on the chunky side. If there is one thing we wish HTC had incorporated into the M9, it's a slightly larger display while keeping the same chassis size.
http://media.bestofmicro.com/9/U/482466/gallery/HTC-One-M9-Hands-on-18_w_600.jpgFrom the side, the change in button layout is clear, and also that the volume controls are now two separate buttons on the M9.
http://media.bestofmicro.com/9/L/482457/gallery/HTC-One-M9-Hands-on-7_w_600.jpg (http://www.tomshardware.com/gallery/HTC-One-M9-Hands-on-7,0101-482457-0-2-12-1-jpg-.html)From the back, the One M9 clearly differentiates itself from its older brother with a completely different camera module. The brushed metal effect on the finish is also more apparent on the newer model.
http://media.bestofmicro.com/9/O/482460/gallery/HTC-One-M9-Hands-on-10_w_600.jpg (http://www.tomshardware.com/gallery/HTC-One-M9-Hands-on-10,0101-482460-0-2-12-1-jpg-.html)HTC also showed off a number of accessories, including a selection of cases with clear backs to show off the M9's metallic finish and updated version of its innovative Dot View case.
http://media.bestofmicro.com/9/Q/482462/gallery/HTC-One-M9-Hands-on-13_w_600.jpg (http://www.tomshardware.com/gallery/HTC-One-M9-Hands-on-13,0101-482462-0-2-12-1-jpg-.html)In the tech industry, the saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" has long been applied to Apple, which updates the designs of its handsets every two years. By contrast, most other smartphone manufacturers, including HTC, have historically made substantial design changes to its phones each time a new model comes out.
So when we and the world first saw the M9, it did come as a bit of a shock that it looks so much like the M8. In fact, I would say I was even perhaps a little disappointed at first. But after spending some time with it (albeit briefly), I now understand where HTC is coming from, and why the phrase above is applicable.
The One M8, while not perfect, was already one of the best Android phones I've ever had the pleasure using. By addressing some of the M8's shortcomings and keeping all its strengths the same, then equipping it with the latest and most powerful mobile silicon from Qualcomm, it looks like HTC has created another winner. Once we get a chance to look at it for a longer period of time, we'll be able to confirm (or deny) if that statement is true.
The HTC One M9 will be available globally very soon, starting in mid-March. In the U.S., the One M9 will be available from AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon and also unlocked directly from HTC. In Canada, the M9 will be available from Bell, Rogers, SaskTel, TELUS, and Videotron in "early spring." No pricing has been announced.

HTC One M9 scores 53852 in AnTuTu

http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/c6c759c7d38f96195ff6c17a33947901_L.jpg (http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/c6c759c7d38f96195ff6c17a33947901_XL.jpg)

Snapdragon 810 in action
We had a chance to run AnTuTu on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 in the HTC One M9, and we managed to run the latest and greatest 64-bit version of the test.

After a few minutes the phone scored 53852, thanks to its quad Cortex-A57 clocked at 2.0 GHz and quad Cortex-A53 clocked at 1.5GHz, backed by new Adreno graphics. The metal phone gets slightly hot, but it was stable at all time. The funny thing is that the Snapdragon 810 is just marginally faster than the Meizu MX4 we tested (http://www.fudzilla.com/news/mobile/36755-meizu-mx-4-now-scores-53409) at the beginning of the year, despite the fact that the Meizu is based on less powerful 32-bit CPU cores. The Snapdragon 810 is definitely faster than the MediaTek MT6595 used in the MX4, but we are still surprised by how well MediaTek is doing in this particular test.
This is just one test and we hope to be able to spend a bit more time with Snapdragon 810 products very soon and then we will be able to give you a more conclusive report about this new flagship SoC.
The Snapdragon 810 was shown off at the Mobile World Congress in only two phones, HTC One M9 that launched last Sunday, and LG the G Flex 2 that launched back in January at CES. We have managed to see the Samsung Galaxy S6, but did not have a change to benchmark it.

HTC’s Rumored One M9 Plus Upgrade Appears In Latest Leaked Images

With all the hype surrounding the launch of the HTC One M9 with the Snapdragon 810 on board, we had almost forgotten about another hyped about HTC device, the HTC One M9 Plus. The company had been rumored to be launching two devices this year, but MWC saw the release of only one. Looks like the One M9 Plus lives however, as two pictures of the device have surfaced on the Chinese social network Weibo today.

<ins data-adsbygoogle-status="done" class="adsbygoogle" style="display:inline-block;width:336px;height:280px" data-ad-client="ca-pub-5257724448514074" data-ad-slot="4225663910"><ins id="aswift_0_expand" style="display:inline-table;border:none;height:280px;margin:0;padding:0; position:relative;visibility:visible;width:336px;b ackground-color:transparent"><ins id="aswift_0_anchor" style="display:block;border:none;height:280px;margin:0;pa dding:0;position:relative;visibility:visible;width :336px;background-color:transparent"></ins></ins></ins> http://cdn4.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/HTC-One-M9-Plus-HTC-Desire-A55-leaked-images-635x769.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/HTC-One-M9-Plus-HTC-Desire-A55-leaked-images.jpg) HTC One M9 Plus Leaks Through Alleged Images Showing Little Changes On Board The HTC One M9 Plus as pictured in today’s images has little design changes on board. One of the changes is a different camera sensor on the rear of the phone, with dual LED flash. Apart from that the device appears to be quite similar to the One M9 in terms of overall design. The One M9 Plus is expected to come with a screen size of 5.2 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560. There’s no confirmation however as to whether it will be an upgrade to the One M9 launched just days back.
http://cdn2.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/HTC-One-M9-Plus-HTC-Desire-A55-leaked-images1-635x784.jpg (http://cdn2.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/HTC-One-M9-Plus-HTC-Desire-A55-leaked-images1.jpg)So far, the One M9 Plus is rumored to be coming with two SoC configurations on board. One of these will be the Snapdragon 810, while the other might be the MediaTek MT6795, an octa-core processor with a frequency of 2 GHz. HTC’s plans for the device also remain shrouded in mystery so far as the company might just choose to launch the device in China as the HTC Desire and the MediaTek SoC on board. The device is also expected to come with 32 GB of native storage on board, 3 GB of RAM, BoomSound speakers and a fingerprint sensor on board. Nothing’s for sure so far though, so stay tuned for more updates and let us know what you think in the comments section.

A cheaper version of the HTC One M9 could be in the works (http://www.kitguru.net/laptops/mobile/matthew-wilson/a-cheaper-version-of-the-htc-one-m9-could-be-in-the-works/)

HTC has only just announced its latest flagship device, the HTC One M9, but it looks like a cheaper version could already be on the way according to new reports.
This isn’t an unusual move for HTC as it did launch a plastic version of last year’s flagship, the HTC One M8, the cheap alternative was known as the HTC E8.
http://www.kitguru.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/maxresdefault-e1425739398739.jpg (http://www.kitguru.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/maxresdefault-e1425739398739.jpg)
According to Upleaks (http://upleaks.cn/2015/03/03/hoc-one-e9-a55/), this device is set to be called the HTC One E9. HTC has become very predictable over the last two years so these rumors have a good chance of being accurate.
According to the site, the cheaper M9 alternative device will feature a 2GHz MediaTek processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB os storage and a 20 megapixel rear camera.
Some of the specs, like the RAM, storage and camera are similar to those of the HTC One M9. However, other aspects of the device, namely the CPU, are definitely inferior.
The HTC One E9 will apparently come with a Dual SIM variant, which is common in budget devices.

Should The One M9 Be The Device For Your Wallet? Camera Samples Present Mixed Opinions

HTC was a company that seemed to be taking the exact opposite approach towards photography on the smartphone. The company’s UltraPixel camera on the One M8 had the lowest resolution for rear cameras on a flagship, claiming that the size of the pixel mattered more than the amount captured by the lens – hence the term UltraPixel. But market forces and consumer demand have led the comapny to abandon its rhetoric and this year’s One M9 came with a top notch camera sensor of 20 MP. Problem solved right? After all, when it comes to the Android world, devices with top notch specifications generally end up faring well than their counterparts and HTC’s One M9 should be no different.
But how well does the camera sensor perform overall in different types of situations? That is a question which should be on your mind if you’re considering HTC’s latest as your flagship upgrade. The 20 MP rear camera on the One M9 doesn’t come with Optical Image Stablization, so you shouldn’t expect it to have your back in ‘shaky’ situations. It does however come with 4K video support that is partly the courtesy of the Snapdragon 810 on board. Qualcomm’s latest has been known for its good quality 4K native support, beating many in the industry (if there are any others) at it.

But that doesn’t guarantee surefire high quality 4K video by any means. Camera results for the One M9, as you’ll be able to see below also point out significant areas for improvement for HTC to improve on. The photos aren’t all what you’d expect from a top tier flagship device and include many areas such as too much noise, poor color reproduction and poor low light results. So take a look at the images below, and let us know what you think in the comments section. The One M9’s due to be released this month so stay tuned.

HTC Could Launch 64 GB 'One M9' Model As Storage Prices Continue To Fall

http://media.bestofmicro.com/B/U/483834/gallery/htc-one-m9-2_w_600.jpg (http://www.tomshardware.com/gallery/htc-one-m9-2,0101-483834-0-2-12-1-jpg-.html)When HTC announced the "One M9" flagship smartphone (http://www.tomshardware.com/news/htc-one-android-smartphone-m9,28687.html) two weeks ago, the company only mentioned a 32 GB model. According to a leak (https://twitter.com/LlabTooFeR/status/572071154292113408) from an HTC ROM developer, there will also be a 64 GB model, which will be launched "later this year," but only in some markets.
In the past few years, HTC has launched its flagships with an option for 16 GB and 32 GB models, just like most other smartphone manufacturers. This year may finally be the year when 64 GB of internal storage becomes more mainstream, even if it doesn't come as the default option.
64 GB of storage should cost less than 16 GB of storage cost in 2010, thanks to Moore's Law and about a 50 percent decrease in storage prices every two years, which would make a 16 GB module cost 25 percent of what it did in 2010-2011. Put another way, it would put a 64 GB module at roughly the same price level as the 16 GB module in 2010.
Unfortunately, most OEMs haven't kept raising the default storage amount at the same rate the prices have fallen, either because they want to take in that extra profit they're now saving on storage, or because they're compensating with other components (such as cameras or processors) that are slightly more expensive than their equivalents were in 2010.
http://media.bestofmicro.com/B/T/483833/gallery/HTC_One_M9_w_600.jpg (http://www.tomshardware.com/gallery/HTC_One_M9,0101-483833-0-2-12-1-jpg-.html)The 64 GB HTC One M9 model should cost anywhere from $50 to $100 more than the 32 GB model, if HTC wants to keep a high margin on that extra storage. The OnePlus One has proven, as recently as last year, that it's possible to add 48 GB more storage (on top of the default 16 GB) for only $50 more.
A year later, we're only talking about a 32 GB increase over the default storage option of the HTC One M9, so there's no reason for HTC to raise the price more than $50, which would still give the company a healthy margin on the handset.
The two HTC One M9 models should otherwise be identical and include specs such as a Snapdragon 810 chip, 5" 1080p screen, 3 GB of RAM, 20MP rear camera, 4MP UltraPixel front camera, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, a 2840 mAh battery, and Android 5.0 Lollipop. The 32 GB model should start selling in some markets this month. The company hasn't announced a price yet.

HTC Showcases Some Brilliant New HTC One M9 Specs – Videos

HTC One M9 is expected to be available for consumers tomorrow, March 16, in Taiwan. While it’d still be a few weeks for the next flagship smartphone from HTC to reach international markets, HTC is trying its best this year to grab the attention of users worldwide. In its latest attempt, Taiwanese company has released a group of promotional videos that actually showcase and focuses on some focal points of the flagship. You may find these videos a little over-the-top, but well, HTC (http://wccftech.com/htc-one-m9-plus-leaked-images/) is getting there.
http://cdn4.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/HTC-One-M9-all-the-official-images13-635x501.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/HTC-One-M9-all-the-official-images13.jpg)
HTC One M9 specs detailed: HTC has released some five promotional videos focusing on different aspects of the device to get you into the love of this luxurious metallicious design of M9. They might or might not work, but at least they do show off some pretty darn good HTC One M9 specs.
In this latest group of promo material, the first video focuses on the overall look of the phone including its two-tone metallic design, widgets, themes and more. HTC (http://wccftech.com/htc-announced-wearable-fitness-tracker-grip/) Home widget is interesting as it lets you quickly decide which screen to show you depending on your needs – home, business, and the sort. The second promo video focuses on the much loved HTC One M9 specs and that is the 20-megapixel camera on the back with a super 4-megapixel Ultrapixel shooter on the front. The latter is actually the camera we saw on the HTC One M7 and the M8; it has been fitted as the front camera considering the latest selfie craze in consumers and an increasing demand for better front facing snappers.
HTC One M9 specs promo videos also focus on BoomSound (http://wccftech.com/htc-m9-launched-20-mp-rear-camera/) (HTC never forgets to focus on this!), customization options, HTC Connect (lets you wirelessly control speakers in your home with your phone) and some more camera software features including the Photo Editor.

Snapdragon 810-Powered HTC One M9 Becomes the Hottest Smartphone – Benchmark Proves

How about frying an egg on the back of your phone? Might make your breakfasts a little easier and your phones a little messier. Well, the latest phone in the vogue – HTC One M9 – has apparently hit a massive 132 degree fahrenheit during a benchmark test. Because this pretty smartphone is being powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 (http://wccftech.com/galaxy-note-4-snapdragon-810-benchmarks/), naturally, the processor is getting all that is there to blame.
Snapdragon 810 has remained in the hot news for overheating concerns. While we did hear and read some reports that the overheating issues were taken care of and that it was now even cooler (http://wccftech.com/snapdragon-810-performance-stats/) than other processors, the latest incident screams that’s evidently not the case.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/HTC-One-M9-all-the-official-images3-635x469.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/HTC-One-M9-all-the-official-images3.jpg)
Snapdragon 810 overheating issue persists:

After earlier reports of Snapdragon 810 overheating issues (http://wccftech.com/samsung-drop-snapdragon-810-cpu-galaxy-s6-overheating-source-bloomberg/), Samsung decided to go with the Exynos chip. Earlier this month, HTC unveiled its next gen smartphone being powered by the 810 SoC along with LG powering its LG G Flex 2 (http://wccftech.com/lg-flex-2-leaks-release/) and upcoming LG G4 with Snapdragon 810. Consumers thought that perhaps the overheating issues were finally sorted, but the latest reports tell contradictory story.
A latest GFXBench test found that HTC One M9 is the hottest smartphone hitting a surface temperature of 55.4 °C compared to other devices’ 37.8 °C and 42.2 °C. However, all the blame couldn’t be put on Snapdragon 810 as the device was running a pre-release software which could have played a potentially stronger part in these heating results. LG G Flex 2 which is also powered by the same processor hasn’t had any reported overheating issues so far too hinting that may be this was a one-off case.
Whatever the case be, this instance of severe overheating may prove to be quite a strong turn off for many consumers. We will be looking forward to more tests and reports to see if the 64-bit processor (http://wccftech.com/snapdragon-810-is-on-track/) is the actual culprit here or not. If it is, HTC has to get the issue fixed before HTC One M9 (http://wccftech.com/htc-one-m9-specs-videos/) release or start anticipating some drastically losing quarters ahead.

HTC 'Uh-Oh' program will replace your damaged One M9 for free for one year, no questions asked

http://www.techspot.com/images2/news/bigimage/2015-03-18-image-1.jpg
Earlier this month during the One M9 unveiling, HTC America president Jason Mackenzie teased a further announcement that would set the device apart from its competition. Today we finally know what that is: the company is extending its cracked screen replacement program to now cover any damage free of charge for 12 months. If it breaks you get a new phone (http://bgr.com/2015/03/18/htc-uh-oh-phone-replacement-program/), no questions asked.
Dubbed Uh Oh Program (http://www.htc.com/us/uh-oh-protection/?intcid=uhoh_us_20150317_fromlaunch), HTC says it has your back whether you accidentally crack the screen, drop it in the toilet or even if you just want to switch carriers. In any of these events all you need to do is call an 800 number, provide your phone’s IMEI number, and HTC will send a new unit overnight.
There are caveats, of course, but they are pretty reasonable. You can only use the program once and you need to ship your damaged unit back (HTC will also send a prepaid envelope), otherwise you’ll be charged for the new phone. That means if you simply lost your phone or dropped it off a bridge you’re out of luck.
Moreover, if you don’t use the program in the first 12 months, HTC will give you $100 toward the purchase of your next HTC phone. Sounds like a good deal.
“We want our customers to have the confidence to use their new HTC One and the peace of mind that HTC has your back if something unfortunate happens to it,” Mackenzie said in a press release. “While other smartphone companies look at uh-oh moments as a way to profit off of you, we are focused on adding value to owning an HTC One.”
The program is available in the U.S. only and will go live at the same time the new HTC One M9 goes on sale in the coming days. Last year's models will also be eligible if they are purchased on that date or later.

HTC Manages to Solve HTC One M9 Overheating Issue Before Shipping – Here’s How

HTC One M9 managed to reach a surface temperature of 132 (http://wccftech.com/snapdragon-810-htc-one-m9/) degrees farenheit during a benchmark test taking the device in the league of one of the hottest smartphones – not in terms of its design or specs, if that’s what you expected! However, we also noted that this could be because of the software used in the test devices causing this high temperature.
It was mentioned in the original thread that Snapdragon 810 (http://wccftech.com/snapdragon-810-overheat-samsung-disengaging-chipset-conflict-qualcomm/) processing chip was being considered as the main culprit primarily because we had already seen many reports of the chip having some heat issues (which caused Samsung to move to Exynos). Following this mad start to the week, Jason Mackenzie, HTC Americas president shared in a webcast that the company wouldn’t send out final products unless it’s confident about the device (http://wccftech.com/lg-to-make-upcoming-nexus-7/).
http://cdn4.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/HTC-One-M9-all-the-official-images1-635x501.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/HTC-One-M9-all-the-official-images1.jpg)
HTC One M9 overheating issue solved! Are you too wondering how will HTC manage to cool its manufactured devices in such a short span before releasing them in consumer markets internationally? Well, the treasure trove of XDA has the answer. One XDA member with his sources inside HTC claims that an OTA update will fix the issue. His source has reportedly an HTC One M9 (http://wccftech.com/htc-one-m9-specs-videos/) test unit which received an OTA update for “thermal improvements and camera improvements.”
After updating to this latest OTA, the HTC One M9 test unit is now running at about 104 degrees fahrenheit – way cooler than the benchmarked unit. Seems like HTC has managed to solve the issue before shipping the models out!
Would you now consider buying the device (http://wccftech.com/next-gen-moto-360-leaked/)if heating issue had troubled you (as was apparent in our comments section)?

HTC’s One M9 Goes On Sale With Device Costing $698 For 32 GB Variant

Anyone anticipating HTC’s recently launched One M9 is in for good news. The device has finally gone for sale in Taiwan, as HTC seems to have gotten a hold on some issues that were being reported on the device. The company’s decision to go with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 seemed to have caught up to it as the One M9 reported overheating in some preliminary benchmarks. Problems with the device booting up had also been reported, which ending up causing the device to be delayed from an initial release date of 16 March. HTC was quick to respond with a software update that solved the overheating problem, and with that in the past, the One M9 has finally become available for purchase in the company’s home country.
http://cdn4.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/6be02ee1b54bca316ca01ccbf03b-635x311.jpg (http://cdn4.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/6be02ee1b54bca316ca01ccbf03b.jpg)

HTC One M9 Goes On Sale In Taiwan With A Price Equivalent Of $798 For 32 GB Variant The HTC One M9 appears to also pack quite a punch when it comes to the device’s price. The 32 GB variant of the device will end up costing Taiwanese purchases a neat $698 when converted to US dollars. This is of course the price tag for the carrier free version of the device, so it possesses little relevance when used as a gauge for the device’s expected release date price here. The 64 GB variant of the device sees the dollars rise to $732 USD, both of which make the One M9 an expensive device to own, over in Taiwan.
The One M9’s expected to become available here in the US at starting April 10th, so the day isn’t far when pricing information of the device in this part of the world also becomes clearer. All we can hope for now is that no further problems surface with the One M9 that might cause its release to be further delayed. Carrier pricing models should see the cost of the One M9 for the end user go down so don’t give up hope just yet. Let us know what you think in the comments section and stay tuned.

HTC’s One M9 Plus Dimensions And Design Details Leak Showing Small Upgrades

At the MWC this year, HTC chose to unveil the HTC One M9 but chose to pass over the rumored larger screened variant of the One M9, the HTC One M9 Plus. But that doesn’t mean the One M9 Plus is dead and we should stop speculating as to what the device will look like and what it’ll come featuring. Onleaks is back today with some information and images that end up showing us just how different the One M9 Plus will be from the One M9.

http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/CAx030vWkAERn3a.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/CAx030vWkAERn3a.jpg)The HTC One M9 Plus Will Be Measuring 150.9 x 72.5 x10.15 mm And Will Come With A 5.2 Inch Screen When compared to the recently launched HTC One M9, the M9 Plus seems to be a rather incremental upgrade. As it has already been speculated before, the HTC One M9 Plus will be coming with a 5.2 inch screen. This has been further corroborated by Onleaks today, and the leaker has some more news for us today related to the dimensions on HTC’s device. According to Onleaks, the HTC One M9 Plus will be measuring 150.9×72.5×10.15mm, which is a slight increase in every department when compared to the existing dimensions of the HTC One M9 (44.6 x 69.7 x 9.6mm).
NWE’s famous leaker also claims to have laid eyes on the device, and has recreated what he claims is the One M9 Plus, compared to the One M9. By the looks of things, the One M9 Plus will be coming with an additional home button at the front of the device. Whether this will be a fingerprint sensor or not still remains to be seen. Also, as can be seen above, the rear of the device will come featuring a dual camera. Other changes that the device can be expected to come with are unknown as of yet, and given the incremental 0.2 inches screen size increase, HTC should really come up with something more for the device. Let us know what you think in the comments section,

HTC One M9 Review: Solid Evolution (http://www.techspot.com/review/980-htc-one-m9/)

The past few years have been difficult for HTC. Executives have departed amid weak financials, and outside of their flagship offerings, the company has struggled to sell their smartphones up against strong Asian competition. Last year, HTC turned to lifestyle products to drive up their revenue, but the only product released so far, the Re action camera (http://www.techspot.com/news/58366-htc-re-camera-gopro.html), perhaps wasn’t as good as they were hoping.
Nevertheless 2015 is shaping up to be a positive year for HTC. One of the coolest products announced in the year so far, the Vive virtual reality headset (http://www.techspot.com/news/59955-first-hand-accounts-vive-vr-suggest-better-than.html) was developed by HTC in partnership with Valve, and I’m seriously excited for its release towards the end of the year.
As expected, the company has also launched a refined version of their well-regarded flagship Android smartphone. The One M9 could be the winner the company needs.
http://www.techspot.com/articles-info/980/images/OneM9S-8.jpg (http://www.techspot.com/photos/article/980-htc-one-m9/#OneM9F-8)
If you confuse the brand new HTC One M9 for last year’s M8 (http://www.techspot.com/review/801-htc-one-m8/), you’re not alone: the metal unibody design of the M9 is remarkably similar to what we saw in the previous generation. Many of the device’s features will also seem familiar, including the 5.0-inch 1080p Super LCD 3 display, BoomSound speaker array, and heavily-customized Android software.
The areas that have been improved are less obvious than in previous updates. The biggest one concerns the camera, with HTC deciding to relegate the mediocre Ultrapixel camera, seen on the back of the M8, to the front of the M9. The Duo Camera has also been removed, replaced by a 20-megapixel shooter that hopefully addresses the one major issue with the last-gen One. Internally, HTC is packing the latest and greatest Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC, which should be a decent performance boost with the added bonus of 64-bit support.
http://www.techspot.com/articles-info/980/images/OneM9S-3.jpg (http://www.techspot.com/photos/article/980-htc-one-m9/#OneM9F-3)
However, the competition hasn’t stayed stagnant. In particular, the past six months have seen better displays, longer battery life, improved cameras, as well as a greater focus on design. HTC will need to have pulled out all the stops to deliver a compelling smartphone at the start of 2015.
Luckily, I can start off this review by talking about one aspect of the HTC One M9 that I love: the design. HTC continues to absolutely nail the all-metal smartphone body, and that’s no exception with this new smartphone.
HTC began producing metal smartphones with the beautiful HTC One, which featured a matte metal back and polycarbonate edges, although the device itself wasn’t the most ergonomic. The company addressed this concern with the shiny HTC One M8, adding more metal to the body and curving it to perfection. Unfortunately it could be a bit slippery, and the power button wasn't ideally positioned.
http://www.techspot.com/articles-info/980/images/OneM9S-12.jpg (http://www.techspot.com/photos/article/980-htc-one-m9/#OneM9F-12)
The One M9 is the most refined metal body HTC has produced to date, with each shell taking 300 minutes to machine from raw materials. The metal shell no longer warps fully around the sides; instead, the body is noticeably split into two parts. The first part is the curved back shell, which somewhat folds around the sides and includes all the ports and buttons. The second is the piece that includes the display, which appears to sit into the back shell in a design that’s less seamless than we saw in the M8.
While I prefer the look of the M8’s seamless body, the choice to engineer a seam into the body actually reduces the slipperiness significantly. Combined with increased sharpness to the edges, the M9 is very easy to grip: great news for the frequent phone droppers out there. I wouldn’t say it feels as nice to hold as the M8, though it’s certainly a really solid, tough, and well-built handset.
http://www.techspot.com/articles-info/980/images/OneM9S-5.jpg (http://www.techspot.com/photos/article/980-htc-one-m9/#OneM9F-5)
http://www.techspot.com/articles-info/980/images/OneM9C-4.jpg (http://www.techspot.com/photos/article/980-htc-one-m9/#OneM9F-3)
HTC has also updated the metal body’s finish. The company is very proud of the two-tone design, which sees the shiny back panel given a lightly brushed finish, while the edges have a “mirrored” (aka. cleanly polished) finish. The front panel is also different, using matte metal reminiscent of the original One, combined with Gorilla Glass to protect the display.
The two-toned design also refers to the color of the metal. The One M9 is the first smartphone to feature a single piece of metal with two distinct colors: silver for the back section, and gold around the edges. Although the gold is more of a copper color in my review unit, this combination of complementary colors looks fantastic. Factoring in the premium finish HTC has applied to the metal, and the One M9 is one of the most attractive smartphones I’ve ever used.
http://www.techspot.com/articles-info/980/images/OneM9C-15.jpg (http://www.techspot.com/photos/article/980-htc-one-m9/#OneM9F-15)
http://www.techspot.com/articles-info/980/images/OneM9S-10.jpg (http://www.techspot.com/photos/article/980-htc-one-m9/#OneM9F-10)
For people who’d rather have a single-color smartphone, HTC offers an entirely gold model, and an entirely gunmetal grey model which should be familiar to those with a grey M8. It’s surprising that HTC has only released one two-tone M9 considering how attractive it looks, and it’s equally surprising there’s no all-silver model.
Perhaps the most relevant functional change HTC has introduced to the One design is the power button location. The top-edge button has finally been removed in favour of a perfectly-positioned right-side button, positioned below two distinct volume buttons. All three buttons are solid, clicky and responsive, though they don’t travel very far.
http://www.techspot.com/articles-info/980/images/OneM9S-1.jpg (http://www.techspot.com/photos/article/980-htc-one-m9/#OneM9F-1)
http://www.techspot.com/articles-info/980/images/OneM9C-2.jpg (http://www.techspot.com/photos/article/980-htc-one-m9/#OneM9F-2)
http://www.techspot.com/articles-info/980/images/OneM9C-11.jpg (http://www.techspot.com/photos/article/980-htc-one-m9/#OneM9F-11)
The top edge still includes a long strip of black plastic, which conceals the infrared LED that can be used to control TVs and other home theatre equipment. On the opposite edge is where you’ll find the microUSB charging port and 3.5mm audio jack. The only other features around the edges are the microSD card slot (a must-have for many) on the right side above the volume rocker, and the nano-SIM slot on the left.
Like with the HTC One M7 and M8, there are two polycarbonate strips that break up the solid metal back panel, and this is to ensure functional wireless connectivity. The regulatory logos at the bottom of the panel disrupt the otherwise minimalist panel, though this is hardly a significant concern.
http://www.techspot.com/articles-info/980/images/OneM9S-17.jpg (http://www.techspot.com/photos/article/980-htc-one-m9/#OneM9F-17)
On the front of the M9, HTC’s signature BoomSound speaker array is seen above and below the 5.0-inch display. HTC’s use of dual front-facing speakers is still the best speaker implementation we’ve seen on a smartphone, and the M9’s iteration is loud, powerful and reasonable quality considering the small drivers. Hidden in the top speaker grill is an usual notification LED.
Unfortunately HTC still hasn’t managed to decrease the overall size of the One through slimming down the top and bottom bezels. The large black strip that only features the HTC logo is still there on the One M9, and I’d really like to see this removed entirely to reduce the height of the handset. The width is fine, so the M9 is easy to hold, but reducing the height would make the phone feel more compact.

HTC One M9 Root Achieved! Here’s How to Install Custom Recovery & Root M9

HTC One M9 has just released and the device has managed to take the top spot among the news headlines. From having overheating issues (http://wccftech.com/snapdragon-810-htc-one-m9/) to our beloved Robert Downing JR. sporting it in quirky, missing marketing videos – HTC has tried to get it a lot of attention. Developers have proved to be quite quick though with breaking and rooting this latest smartphone. You can now root HTC One M9 (http://wccftech.com/htc-one-m9-overheating-issue-solved/) (that is if you have already got your hands on it) and install custom recovery tool to make it ready for the awesomeness of custom ROMs that are about to flood us.

Next, download SuperSU from here (http://download.chainfire.eu/696/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip).

Here are the steps to root HTC One M9:

Open folder where you installed Minimal ADB > on your keyboard, hold Shift and right-click on an empty space in the window > click on Open Command Prompt here. Type the following commands:

adb devices
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot devices
fastboot flash recovery TWRP.img (TWRP.img represents recovery file’s name, whatever that be)

Reboot HTC One M9 (http://wccftech.com/htc-one-m9-specs-videos/).
Connect it to your computer.
Copy SuperSU.zip file on your device and switch off the smartphone.
Wait for some 10 seconds and boot it in Recovery mode: hold the Power and Volume Down keys and choose Recovery.
Once in Recovery mode, use TWRP recovery tool to install the SuperSU.zip file: tap Install > choose .zip file.
When installation is all done, reboot your smartphone (http://wccftech.com/galaxy-s6-and-galaxy-s6-edge-deals/).
And that’s done!

You have successfully rooted your latest HTC One M9 and installed a recovery tool on it. You can confirm it through Root Checker app. Stay tuned to this space as we will share the latest and stable custom ROMs (http://wccftech.com/how-to-root-galaxy-s6-g920t/) for M9.ht

HTC’s One M9 Plus Gets Launch Date Confirmed As Latest Device Specs And Images Leak

Following the increasing trend in the mobile world to launch two flagship device instead of one, many fans were expecting a similar trend to be followed from HTC. But the company chose to launch only one device, the HTC One M9 at MWC this month, which led to a lot of us wondering about the future of the One M9 Plus. Well, the device may be coming soon, and its going to be everything that we’ve been telling you so far as not only HTC’s given the date for a new event, but some more specifications and images of the One M9 Plus have also become available.
http://cdn3.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/11092528-1180243362003755-1510228132-o-635x1123.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/11092528-1180243362003755-1510228132-o.jpg)HTC Announces Launch Date For The One M9 Plus With Event Scheduled For China

Looks like HTC loves its dual cameras since the teaser that the company has posted (http://wccftech.com/htc-confirms-launch-date-m9-device-images-specs-pop/www.weibo.com/1890174912/Cadnp9M2b?from=page_1006061890174912_profile&wvr=6&mod=weibotime&type=comment#_rnd1427288943140) for its April 8th event, scheduled to be held in the Chinese capital Beijing also shows a device similar to the One M9 put with a dual camera at its rear. And speaking of the One M9 Plus, several more images and specifications of the device have been leaked today, which end up mostly resembling what we’ve been telling you all along.

http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Latest-alleged-HTC-One-M9-live-photos.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Latest-alleged-HTC-One-M9-live-photos.jpg)
Looks like the Spadragon 810 overheating issues really irritated some folks over at HTC, since today’s images of its upcoming device show the One M9 Plus with the MediaTek MT6795T. The MT6795T is an octa-core, 64-bit chipset that comes with the PowerVR G6200 GPU on board. The question of whether the One M9 Plus for international markets will also be coming with the MediaTek SoC still remains unanswered, but we’d expect HTC to stick with Qualcomm in that department, given that the latter’s SoC does end up outperforming its MediaTek counterpart in a lot of ways. Other specifications of the One M9 Plus leaked today include 3 GB of RAM and a 20 MP rear camera, effectively sealing the Ultra Pixel camp at HTC.

http://cdn4.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Latest-alleged-HTC-One-M9-live-photos1.jpg

http://cdn4.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Latest-alleged-HTC-One-M9-live-photos2.jpg

Looks like duo tone metal unibody has also made it on board HTC’s larger screened flagship. In exactly two weeks we’ll find out if HTC’s planning for any major changes on its upcoming device. Both the iPhone 6 Plus and the Galaxy S6 Edge do differ somewhat from their counterparts but not in a major way. Plus, is that a fingerpirnt sensor that we see in the center of BoomSound speakers? We’ll find out soon enough and have our answer to the fact that has HTC been planning some changes in the one month delay for its top tier devices? Stay tuned, we’ll let you know, and let us know what you think in the comments section below.

HTC One M9 Available Tonight, Latest Flagship Goes Toe-To-Toe With Samsung (Updated)

http://media.bestofmicro.com/9/T/482465/gallery/HTC-One-M9-Hands-on-16_w_600.jpg (http://www.tomshardware.com/gallery/HTC-One-M9-Hands-on-16,0101-482465-0-2-12-1-jpg-.html)Today, HTC announced that its latest flagship smartphone, the HTC One M9, will be available for sale online (on its own website) on March 27, starting at 12:01 AM ET. The device will be available in other carrier and retail stores from April 10.
The unlocked version from HTC's website will cost $649, while the models in stores will have variable prices, either unlocked or subsidized, depending on each store's pricing strategy.
http://media.bestofmicro.com/9/N/482459/gallery/HTC-One-M9-Hands-on-8_w_600.jpg (http://www.tomshardware.com/gallery/HTC-One-M9-Hands-on-8,0101-482459-0-2-12-1-jpg-.html)Unlike its also recently-announced Galaxy S6 competitor, which was in many ways a more radical improvement after three years of slight iterations on the same concept, the HTC One M9 continues with the same line of improvements we've seen since the HTC One M7.
http://media.bestofmicro.com/9/L/482457/gallery/HTC-One-M9-Hands-on-7_w_600.jpg (http://www.tomshardware.com/gallery/HTC-One-M9-Hands-on-7,0101-482457-0-2-12-1-jpg-.html)The design has been polished, the speakers don't occupy as much space in the front as before (a welcome improvement, as nobody likes wasted space, especially on a small device such as a smartphone), and most of the specifications have been upgraded.
Processor http://media.bestofmicro.com/9/P/482461/gallery/HTC-One-M9-Hands-on-12_w_600.jpg (http://www.tomshardware.com/gallery/HTC-One-M9-Hands-on-12,0101-482461-0-2-12-1-jpg-.html)The HTC One M9 is powered by a rather controversial SoC: the Snapdragon 810 from Qualcomm. That's the same chip Samsung allegedly dropped (http://www.tomshardware.com/news/samsung-galaxy-s6-snapdragon-810,28433.html) from its Galaxy S6 flagship because it overheated. There could have been other reasons for the decision as well. However, the fact that the Exynos 7420 inside the Galaxy S6 is made on Samsung's 14nm FinFET process, while the Snapdragon 810 was built on a TSMC 20nm planar process, gives some credence to the notion that for that level of performance, the chip couldn't be made very efficient. It was also Qualcomm's first time building SoCs using ARM's stock CPU design, and the company may not have had enough time to properly optimize it.
Displayhttp://media.bestofmicro.com/9/J/482455/gallery/HTC-One-M9-Hands-on-2_w_600.jpg (http://www.tomshardware.com/gallery/HTC-One-M9-Hands-on-2,0101-482455-0-2-12-1-jpg-.html) The HTC One M9 keeps the same 1080p resolution that we saw on the HTC One M8. That's not necessarily a bad thing on its own, as a lower resolution on a certain display panel technology can save battery life. The issue here is that HTC is apparently using the same Super LCD3 panel technology as it did in the HTC One M8. That means there have likely been no improvements in battery life on the display side, compared to the HTC One M8.
When other companies adopt higher resolutions, such as the 2560 x 1440 resolution we've been seeing in some high-end phones lately, they usually go with a more efficient and more modern display panel technology to offset that increase in resolution. Then they end up with a 2560 x 1440 display that might not use any more energy than the last-generation 1080p panel used, while at the same time bringing a sharper screen to consumers.
Here, HTC brought no improvement in display quality, nor in power consumption. The company simply used last year's panel to save cost, which is a benefit to HTC, but not necessarily to consumers. When deciding between their options, most consumers may still go with the higher-resolution panel.
http://media.bestofmicro.com/9/R/482463/gallery/HTC-One-M9-Hands-on-3_w_600.jpg (http://www.tomshardware.com/gallery/HTC-One-M9-Hands-on-3,0101-482463-0-2-12-1-jpg-.html)There's still one reason why using a lower-resolution display can still be a better choice than using a more modern higher-resolution one, though. When the resolution increases, it also puts a stress on the GPU, which now needs to expend more performance to handle that higher resolution.

For years, this hasn't been much of an issue, because mobile GPUs could double in performance in every annual generation. Lately, that rate of improvement has dropped to somewhere around 50 percent or less for a 12-month generation. It's also likely to drop to a 20-30 percent rate of improvement in the near future, just as we've seen with PC GPUs. That means we won't be able to keep doubling the pixels in our phones every year (it's a 1.8x increase for 2560 x 1440 vs 1920 x 1080).
Many could also argue that a 1080p resolution is already more than enough for an LCD-based 5” screen. The benefit of having a higher resolution screen is much less than it used to be in the early days of touchscreen smartphones, while the downsides are getting larger with each new generation as the mobile GPU progress rate lowers.
Cameras http://media.bestofmicro.com/9/S/482464/gallery/HTC-One-M9-Hands-on-15_w_600.jpg (http://www.tomshardware.com/gallery/HTC-One-M9-Hands-on-15,0101-482464-0-2-12-1-jpg-.html)One of the bigger changes in the HTC One M9 is represented by the new 20 MP camera from Sony. For its "One" series, HTC has been using its 4 MP "Ultra Pixel" camera, which was great for low-light photography but couldn't capture too much detail in its photos. In a way, HTC went from one extreme to the other with the M9, going from a low-resolution camera to one that has among the highest resolution on the market. The new camera can even do 4K recording at 30 fps as well as 1080p recording at 60 fps, and 720p recording at 120 fps.
HTC moved its 4 MP "Ultra Pixel" camera to the front where it can record 1080p video at 30 fps and is cable of HDR.
Other specs http://media.bestofmicro.com/9/Q/482462/gallery/HTC-One-M9-Hands-on-13_w_600.jpg (http://www.tomshardware.com/gallery/HTC-One-M9-Hands-on-13,0101-482462-0-2-12-1-jpg-.html)The HTC One M9 comes with 32 GB of storage out of the box and still supports microSD expansion (unlike the Galaxy S6) up to 128 GB. It also has 3 GB of RAM, which seems to be a common spec among the high-end flagships right now. The M9 supports LTE, dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi, DLNA, and Bluetooth 4.1 in terms of connectivity. The device runs Android 5.0 Lollipop with the Sense UI 7.0 customizations on top.
The HTC One M9 will be available at all four major U.S. carriers starting April 10, including AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon. It will also sell at Amazon, Best Buy, Best Buy Mobile specialty stores, Costco Wholesale and Target.
The device will include HTC's recently announced "UH OH" Protection (http://www.tomshardware.com/news/htc-uh-oh-protection-program,28774.html), which allows customers to replace their HTC One M9 for free, if they suffer from cracked screens or water damage, in the first 12 months after purchasing it. Those who can't wait until it arrives in stores can also order it from HTC's website (http://www.htc.com/) for $649, after 12.01 AM tonight (March 27).
Update, 3/26/15, 9:01 AM PST: The HTC One M9 will be available in Canada on April 17 starting at $199 on a 2-year term from Bell, Koodo, Rogers, SaskTel, Telus, Wind Mobile and Videotron. The unlocked version being sold directly by HTC is not available to Canadians.

HTC One E9+ Phablet Delivers Impressive 5.5-Inch QHD Display And MediaTek SoC

HTC (http://hothardware.com/tags/htc) just released its flagship One M9 (http://hothardware.com/news/htc-one-m9-shows-up-on-online-5-inch-1080p-display-and-snapdragon-810-confirmed) smartphone in the U.S., priced at $649 unlocked (http://hothardware.com/news/att-opens-htc-one-m9-online-orders-on-march-27-will-ship-same-day). But that isn’t the only new smartphone coming from the HTC camp these days; the company just officially announced the One E9+ phablet for the Chinese market.
Whereas the 5-inch One M9 (http://hothardware.com/tags/one-m9) makes do with a 1080p display, the One E9+ ups the ante with a 5.5-inch QHD (http://hothardware.com/tags/qhd) display (535 PPI). Powering the phone is MediaTek (http://hothardware.com/tags/mediatek-) MT6795M SOC, which is comparable in layout to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 (http://hothardware.com/tags/snapdragon-810) (two Cortex A57 cores, two Cortex A53 cores). The smartphone is equipped with 2GB of RAM, and has 16GB of internal storage (expandable to 128GB via microSD).

image: http://hothardware.com/ContentImages/NewsItem/33118/content/small_onee9plus.jpg (http://hothardware.com/gallery/NewsItem/33118?image=big_onee9plus.jpg)
http://hothardware.com/ContentImages/NewsItem/33118/content/small_onee9plus.jpg

Since the One E9+ caters to the Chinese market, you’ll also find dual nano SIM slots in addition to the standard fare 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, and dual front-facing BoomSound stereo speakers (like the One M9). As for photography geeks, you’ll find a rear-facing 20MP camera and a 4MP UltraPixel camera up front (we’re assuming they’re the same cameras from the One M9).
When it comes to the battery in the One E9+, we have some concerns. Not only does the One E9+ have a physically larger display to power, but there’s also the power-hungry QHD resolution to consider. But inexplicably, the One E9+ actually has a smaller battery than the One M9 (2800 mAh versus 2840 mAh) despite having larger physical dimensions. We’ll likely have to wait until real world benchmarks are released, but I'm hoping the battery figure is a typo in HTC’s detailed specs sheet (there are a couple of other inaccuracies listed there as well).

http://hothardware.com/ContentImages/NewsItem/33118/content/onee9plus.jpg

One the software side of things, there are no surprises — you’ll find HTC Sense 7 running atop Android 5.0 Lollipop.
We don’t have any information yet on pricing or availability, but the phone is supposed to make its live debut in Beijing next week — details will most definitely be revealed at that time.

HTC One E9+ has 2K screen, live in China

http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/b4f4c29b0065edd660f59741a3699885_L.jpg (http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/b4f4c29b0065edd660f59741a3699885_XL.jpg)

5.5-inch phablet with MediaTek Helio X10 MT6795M
The world is still buzzing about the HTC One M9, but it looks like some of HTC's divisions are ready to move to a new adventures.

HTC China has released the HTC One E9+ (http://www.htc.com/cn/smartphones/htc-one-e9-plus/), which is a successor to the quite nice HTC One E8. As the plus moniker indicates this is a bigger version than the standard 5-inch form factor HTC uses for many of its phones, the HTC One E9+ is a now 5.5-inch device with Quad HD 2560x1440 resolution.
The E series are made from high quality plastic and the new phone comes in three colours - meteor grey, classic rose gold and gold sepia, which is similar to colours on the HTC One M9.

http://www.fudzilla.com/images/stories/2015/March/htc-phablet.jpg
The SoC behind this 5.5-inch phone is new MediaTek Helio X10 (http://www.fudzilla.com/news/processors/37238-mediatek-s-new-soc-brand-is-helio), also known as MT6795M. This SoC has eight cores running up to 2.2GHz, all based on the Cortex-A53 design, boosted by CorePilot technology.
5.5-inch 2560x1440 screen for the win The phone has 2GB or RAM, a 20-megapixel rear camera as well as an Ultrapixel camera for selfies. It comes with Lollipop out of the box and it also comes with HTC's Sense 7.0 user interface.
We meet with HTC yesterday to see what is new and had a chance to see the new mainstream HTC Desire 626G Dual SIM phone for the first time. Company representatives told us that the E series was usually more focused on Asian markets, while Desire is the brand that the company has been pushing in Europe.
There is no official word about the pricing or availability but it is quite obvious that it starts in Asia, in particularly China, with some chance of launching in some other parts of the world too.

HTC One M9 Plus Renders Show the Spectacular Device in High-Res

HTC One M9 Plus sees another leak today which comes with a bunch of a few other leaks we have been receiving in the past few days. HTC has its marketing game on high this year with celebrities coming in the HTC One M9 ad videos (http://wccftech.com/htc-one-m9-specs-videos/), interwebs becoming flooded of leaks before the One E9+ launch, and now the leaks are unilaterally focusing on the upcoming One M9+.
HTC One M9+ renders in high-res: The latest HTC One M9 Plus leak is actually carrying some high res renders of the oversized smartphone. Taking in the details of HTC One M8 and this year’s M9, HTC One M9 Plus (http://wccftech.com/htc-confirms-launch-date-m9-device-images-specs-pop/) has the audience enthralled with the curiosity of what this device will actually look like. These latest HTC One M9 Plus renders show the device with a physical home button very similar to Samsung’s (http://wccftech.com/samsung-galaxy-s6-vs-galaxy-s5/) oval shaped button possibly to have fingerprint scanning capability on its device.
One M9+ gets the same Duo camera setup of the earlier devices and the dual-tone finish on the body. Considering the number of leaks keeping the focus on HTC One M9 (http://wccftech.com/snapdragon-810-htc-one-m9/) Plus, it seems evident that the official release is not too far. In such circumstances, here is a quick glance on the specs we so far know about:

5.2-inch display with 1440 x 2560 pixels resolution
Octa-core MediaTek MT6795T processing chipset
3 GB of RAM
20.1 megapixel primary shooter
Fingerprint sensor

Golden HTC One M9 coming to EU in Q2

http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/b063eeea94e648b59e519e5154104ab3_L.jpg (http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/b063eeea94e648b59e519e5154104ab3_XL.jpg)

Same official price, looks more expensive
We had a chance to chat with HTC representatives and learn a bit more about the company's high-end devices and the high-end strategy in general.

The HTC One M9 has just started selling across Europe and despite the suggested retail price of €749 at launch, we saw the HTC One M9 shipping in the etail market for less than €700. Since the market determines the price, you can expect that the price will drop further with time, especially if pressured by the competition.
HTC is shipping the Gold on silver version with the gold middle part as well as a Gunmetal gray version of the phone. The company's representative told Fudzilla that the "gold on gold" version is coming in Q2 2015, too. Since the second quarter officially started yesterday, the company has some three months from now, with a big chance to see the golden M9 much sooner than late June, the last month of the Q2 2015.
It turns out that HTC One M8 in gold did much better than the company expected. They shared with us that the gold M8 was doing really well in Europe and exceeded internal projections, and therefore it was a no brainer to keep the line going with a gold HTC One M9 too.

http://www.fudzilla.com/images/stories/2015/March/HTC_One_M9_Gold_Back.jpg
The HTC One M9 looks really expensive, the finish is a bit more polished than on last year's HTC One M8 metal finish. Since the golden iPhone did better than people expected, we are not surprised that HTC and others are continuing this trend.

HTC One M9 leaks were right on the money

http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/60d0fe6e31dcfa128eaccce618f895a0_L.jpg (http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/60d0fe6e31dcfa128eaccce618f895a0_XL.jpg) Leaked pictures everywhere

We were looking at real snaps
For a while there have been leaked images of the upcoming HTC One M9 Plus and it has turned out that they are mostly right.

Pictures which came out of China (http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/04/02/htc-one-m9-plus-promotional-pictures-leaked-confirms-physical-home-button/)show that the leaked images were right.
It seems that the images confirm that there will be a home button included on the HTC One M9 Plus, which is something that HTC has avoided on its flagship gear. However a home button fuels speculation that the HTC One M9 Plus could come with a built-in fingerprint sensor inside the thing.
The HTC One M9 Plus is rumoured to feature a 5.2-inch QHD display and will be powered by a MediaTek SoC. Under the bonnet will be 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of onboard storage.
Based on the Teaser pictures it will have BoomSound speakers and Android 5.0 Lollipop at the very least.
The handset is also said to sport a 20MP rear-facing camera and it is also expected to come with either a 13MP front-facing camera or a camera of the UltraPixel variety. We are expecting an announcement next week so then all will be revealed.
However it does mean that when you get a leaked picture (http://www.ubergizmo.com/2015/04/leaked-renders-point-to-silver-gold-htc-one-m9-plus/) from a Chinese news site you have to pay a bit more attention as chances are it is probably not photoshopped.

iFixit’s Verdict Of HTC One M9: Low Repair Score And QC Issues

For HTC, rolling out a flagship handset would mean that the company would have to invest a large amount of effort in order to make sure that the device is fitted with world class hardware components. Now, we can either take the company’s word for it, or we can leave it to the big guns to deduce whether or not HTC One M9 is incorporated with the finest components that can be placed in a smartphone. From the valley of teardown experts, comes the squad from iFixit (https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/HTC+One+M9+Teardown/39166), who were able to get their hands on a fully functional HTC One M9 and tear it down in order to see where the company’s effort lie and where did they manage to start cutting corners. Here are the results.

HTC One M9 Gets 2/10 Reparability Score Along With QC Issues According to iFixit, when they got their hands on the device, the teardown experts revealed a tiny scratch already present on the display, and keep in mind that the device was taken right out from the box. While the packaging was not up to the mark (which should not be worrisome as long as the smartphone is in top notch condition), iFixit did manage to find a defective pixel present towards the center of the screen, which can be speculated that the team might have gotten their hands on a defective unit. In order to confirm, HTC One M9 was further dismantled.
Carefully removing bits and pieces of the smartphone revealed a pleasant surprise; the tech firm did not end up using glue to stick the exterior of the One M9, which is the completely opposite to the approach that the company used with the original One handset. If a user ends up following the same methods that the iFixit team did for tearing down HTC One M9, they will be appalled to find that the motherboard is glued over the battery. In order to replace the battery, due to any reason whatsoever, the individual is going to have to pay close attention to the motherboard, because prying that off will be necessary to replace the battery.

The display panel was fixed in place with a very sticky substance so the team had to put in a fair amount of effort in removing that. As for the final score, the iFixit team gave 2/10 for reparability which is not unusual seeing as how the original One smartphone received a 1/10 rating. However, consumers who have intended to purchase HTC One M9 should be grateful that the company has introduced its HTC UH OH replacement program (http://wccftech.com/htc-uh-oh-to-be-available-for-one-m9-as-well/). Whatever QC issues the team experienced with the company’s flagship offering, we are still wondering whether or not the same ones will be present inside HTC One M8s (http://wccftech.com/htc-one-m8s-is-a-budget-handset-carrying-qualcomms-snapdragon-615-soc/).

HTC One M9 Ad Campaign Derails With Cringe-Worthy Assault On Apple, Samsung
What is it with big technology companies putting out horrendous advertisements? Microsoft has a long history of ads that miss the mark, everything from signing up Jerry Seinfeld to go shopping for shoes to the downright bizarre (http://hothardware.com/news/Microsofts-Windows-8-Ads-Go-From-Obnoxious-To-DownRight-Weird) that defy explanation, and it looks like HTC is trying hard to follow in Microsoft's footsteps. HTC's latest attempt at marketing its flagship phone, the One M9, is a fictional drug called Cellami, or metalidone boomsoundide. No joke.

Cellami is for people who struggle with afflictions known as bi-phonal displeasure disorder, SAD (Samsung Affective Disorder, or iOS (irritable operating system), not to be confused with bipolar disorder, the other SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder), and irritable bowel syndrome. It's a nearly two-minute spot that mimics any of the several drug commercials that frequently air, complete with softly played background music, disclaimers ("Cellami is not approved for use by patients aged 42-44" -- what?), and side effects.

image: http://hothardware.com/ContentImages/NewsItem/33465/content/Cellami_Ad.jpg
http://hothardware.com/ContentImages/NewsItem/33465/content/Cellami_Ad.jpg

At best, it's an off-putting video that tries a little too hard to be funny but both misses the mark and goes on for too long. And at worst, it's an offensive or at least insensitive parody to those who suffer from depression and other mental diseases, complete with suicide jokes.

"Call your doctor if you experience frustration, anger, or thoughts of cellucide after using Cellami," the ad says.

Growing up in a home in which both my parents worked as counselors and social workers, I'll admit I may be a little sensitive to poking fun at mental health issues in order to promote a smartphone, but it just seems in poor taste to use a suicide joke. And for one reason or another, I'm not the only one who's turned off by HTC's attempt at humor -- at the time of this writing, the video has 559 dislikes compared to 486 likes on YouTube.

"That's it, it's official. HTC makes the worst phone ads in history!!!," one user commented.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=F3LBOqXTvM0

The punchline comes at around the 1min19sec mark in it's revealed that if you're currently taking HTC One M9, you don't need Cellami. "You're totally fine. Seriously. Your phone is the best. Go enjoy your life," the ad's narrator says.

You're better than this, HTC.

The HTC One M9 is getting RAW photo support (http://www.kitguru.net/laptops/mobile/matthew-wilson/the-htc-one-m9-is-getting-raw-photo-support/)

HTC is hoping to beef up its One M9 camera software a bit more by adding in support for RAW photos. Since its release, reviewers have picked up on the HTC One M9’s slightly lacking camera so the company has been at work making software updates to try and bump things up a bit.
The latest camera update adds the ability to save photos in the RAW file format, which is often used by many professional photographers. RAW uses very little image processing and features no compression, which results in larger file sizes, it also leaves room to play around with editing software.
http://www.kitguru.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/maxresdefault-e1425739398739.jpg (http://www.kitguru.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/maxresdefault-e1425739398739.jpg)
Not many flagship devices support shooting in RAW, the Galaxy S6 for instance does not make use of the file format. The update to the HTC One M9 comes in the form of a Play Store update to the camera app so there is no need to update your firmware or check for an Android version upgrade.
Once your camera app is updated, HTC One M9 users can set up RAW shooting mode and start filling up their memory.

HTC’s One M9 Sales Suffer; Snapdragon 810 To Blame?

HTC was able to bounce back quickly with the release of its previous flagship handset, One M8. The Taiwanese phone market was expected to catch a rerun of its sales performance with its current flagship handset, One M9, but not everything works out the way everyone thinks it would, even for phone giants like HTC. According to The Tapei Times (http://www.taipeitimes.com/News/biz/archives/2015/05/05/2003617484), an analyst has stated that despite the fact that One M9 packs impressive hardware, revenue generation fell 38.66 percent to NT$13.54 billion (which is translated in to a whopping $439.95 million USD). Keep in mind that revenue generation was reported at NT$22.07 billion in 2014.
http://cdn4.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/HTC-One-M9-design-c2-635x336.jpg (http://cdn3.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/HTC-One-M9-design-c2.jpg)
HTC Has Underestimated Snapdragon 810’s Thermal Issue, Which Has Led To Poor Performance Sales According to an analyst belonging to Yuanta Securities Investment Consulting Co:

“Revenue for last month was weaker than expected, which was due to poor M9 demand. HTC might have underestimated the Qualcomm Inc S810 processor’s thermal issue (http://wccftech.com/lg-g4-benchmark-snapdragon-808-vs-snapdragon-810/), and this has resulted in poor reviews and concern from carriers.”
Additional statistics displaying the poor sales performance of HTC’s One M9 have been highlighted by the analyst below:
Estimated One M9 shipments this year will only reach 4.5 million units, which is egregious compared to the 7 and 8 million units sold of the company’s One M7 and One M8 handsets respectively. During a recent investors’ conference, HTC had stated that the firm would be able to generate revenue falling in between the NT$46 billion and NT$51 billion mark for this exact quarter. However, with that assessment, HTC’s ‘work has been cut out for it’ will be considered as a huge understatement, because the company’s climb to the top of the mountain just got bombarded with a ton of obstacles.

Based on the firm’s sales for last month, HTC still has to make NT$32.46 billion in the remainder of the quarter to reach the low end of its sales guidance. For conversion purposes, that is equivalent to USD $1.06 billion, which is going to be more than just an ordeal for the struggling company. Even with HTC’s ‘Uh-Oh’ service (http://wccftech.com/htc-uh-oh-to-be-available-for-one-m9-as-well/), which replaces your One M9 should its screen crack or receive water damage, the company is having a tough time snaring customers. According to a KGI Bank analyst, whose identity has not been disclosed has stated that:

“Based on our channel checks, retailers have been lowering the M9’s price in order to attract consumers’ attention. This reflects a negative market reaction to the flagship.”
While the company’s One M9 running Snapdragon 810 is not bringing any favors to HTC, perhaps its One M9 Plus (http://wccftech.com/htc-confirms-launch-date-m9-device-images-specs-pop/) will succeed where the flagship failed. 2015 is yet to be over so let us see what surprises the future holds.

An analyst has predicted that HTC has only managed to shift 4.5 million units of its latest flagship, the HTC One M9, shrinking the company’s first quarter revenue by close to 40 per cent. S0 why is the M9 not selling as well as it should? Well apparently it’s because of the Snapdragon 810.
HTC has already admitted that its first quarter revenue results were much lower than last year, shrinking by 38.4 per cent year-on-year. While HTC considers the M9 a success so far, analysts have a different view. An analyst working for Securities Investment Consulting Co, told the Taipei Times (http://www.taipeitimes.com/News/biz/archives/2015/05/05/2003617484) that the low sales could be down to problems with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chip.
http://www.kitguru.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/maxresdefault-e14257393987391.jpg (http://www.kitguru.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/maxresdefault-e14257393987391.jpg)
“HTC might have underestimated the Qualcomm S810 processor’s thermal issue, and this has resulted in poor reviews and concern from carriers”.
Recently, Qualcomm came out to deny that there were any issues with the Snapdragon 810 (http://www.kitguru.net/channel/generaltech/matthew-wilson/qualcomm-denies-that-lg-ditched-snapdragon-810-over-heat-issues/), despite what the evidence says. Reviewers have pointed out that the HTC One M9 does get quite warm even under light load and a thermal image taken before the release of the smartphone revealed it running much hotter than the competition.
While the Snapdragon 810’s poor reputation could be impacting sales, it is more likely that HTC is starting to suffer from brand fatigue, as the last three HTC One flagships have basically looked exactly the same. Samsung began suffering from a similar problem prior to the launch of the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.

HTC scores own goal

Gold always believe in your soul
The Tame Apple Press is mocking a PR own goal commented by HTC during the launch of its football themed gold smartphone.

HTC has revealed a 24 carat gold version of their 2015 flagship HTC One M9. to celebrate the end of the UEFA Champions League and the finals.
It is decked out in gold plating from top to bottom, and the back will be etched with commemorative logos, dates, venues and finals participants and thus be completely dull and uninteresting to those who actually have a life.
It was however very pretty and someone at HTC was moved to snap a picture of it for their Twitter campaign. However sharp eyed Apple fanboys notice that the shiny phone reflected everything back at it including what the PR person used to take the picture.
As you can see the poor PR/Marketing person has an iPhone.
The picture was swiftly taken down from Twitter, but not before the Tame Apple Press could mock it. The implication is that HTC staff would not touch their own company's product.
The only thing the leaked picture says to us is that PR/Marketing people aren't the brightest people in a company and have a tendency to fall for marketing. After if it were a choice between HTC and Apple flagship who would opt for an iPhone?
To be fair, if it came to a choice between shattering any sense of technological, or intellectual credibly and heling to lower the standards of the world by owning an iPhone and getting root canal work I would pop to the dentist straight away.

HTC Rolls Out Global One M9 Update Addressing Battery And Camera Performance

HTC (http://hothardware.com/tags/htc) is patting itself on the back for working to improve various aspects of its flagship One M9 after its release. We we recently reviewed (http://hothardware.com/reviews/htc-one-m9-review) the One M9 and had mostly good things to say about the device, and following the newest update, One M9 owners can expect the built-in camera to take better pics, improved battery life, and less heat generated while charging.

In regards to the camera, HTC says the update tweaks the auto-exposure balance algorithm to improve overall dynamic range, resulting in images that come to life with more detail and color balance, particularly when snapping photos in bright light environments. HTC also introduced improvements to low light performance for clearer and more detail shots when lighting is less than ideal.

http://hothardware.com/ContentImages/NewsItem/34005/content/HTC_One_M9.jpg

As for the battery, the update brings about "overall improvements to battery life." Part of that entails reducing power consumption by YouTube, Facebook, and other social apps like Skype and Google Hangouts. The end result is that you should be able to watch more videos and have more video chat for longer periods of time.

Lastly, HTC made changes to its smart charging formula so that the One M9 stays cooler while it's being charged.

"In many ways, our products’ lives are just starting when they’re released into the market; we don’t just stop working on a device once people have purchased it but are constantly striving to improve the user experience and listen to customer feedback," HTC said in blog post.

The update has already been rolled out to select countries in Asia and is now deploying in Europe. One M9 owners in North America will see the update sometime later this month.

Download And Install Android 5.1 For HTC One M9 Right Here

Android 5.1 has started to roll out to a lot of devices recently and many users have already started to enjoy the update on their handsets. Users of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S5 have received their updates on select carriers over the past couple of weeks, and looks like another 2015 flagship is about to join that list. Android 5.1 for the HTC One M9 seems to be almost ready, with Custom ROM based Android 5.1 already available for the device to download.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/HTC-One-M9-Android-5.1-635x376.png (http://cdn2.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/HTC-One-M9-Android-5.1.png)
Download Custom Android 5.1 Firmware For HTC One M9 Here While HTC hasn’t started to roll out Android 5.1 for the One One M9, we’ve managed to get our hands on a custom firmware for the device developed by LlabtooFeR. Before you head over to the download link below, it would be relevant to see what changes can be expected. Android 5.1 for the HTC One M9 features primarily some battery performance upgrades, introduction for multiple users on the One M9 and a couple of color controls.

Other changes on Android 5.1 for the HTC One M9 include some UI upgrades and an all new look for the volume slider, that can be seen in the image above. Sense 7 also gets some new animations with quick access to Do Not Disturbed mode as well. There are a couple of things that you’re going to keep in mind before downloading the firmware below as well. Given that this ROM is custom made, you’re going to need custom recovery installed on the device alongside an unlocked bootloader. You’re also going to need to enable S-OFF on your One M9.
To enable S-OFF on your One M9, you’re going to need to gain root access after unlocking the device’s bootloader and then use Sunshine v3.1. You can download Sunshine here (http://theroot.ninja/download.html). So download Android 5.1 for your One M9 if you can’t wait for Google’s next update and let us know how it went in the comments section below. Since Custom Android 5.1 for the One M9 is already out, we should expect Android 5.1 to start rolling out for the HTC One M9 soon enough as well. Stay tuned for the latest updates.

HTC flagship at half mast

Only 4.72 million sold
HTC is facing a huge disappointment from its flagship HTC One M9.

The dark satanic rumour mill suggests that the outfit has only sold 4.75 million units of its new flagship smartphone since it the model launched in March.
According to the Chinese-language China Business Journal report this is a fall of 43.75 per cent as compared to shipments of the HTC One M8 during its initial three months.
HTC's market value has also declined to around $2 billion recently compared to its all-time high of 33.8 billion a few years ago, the paper added.
The journal quoted China-based iiMedia Research as saying the price of the M8 was too high as in that $258 are silly enough to think that an iPhone represents quality.
It is looking increasingly less likely that HTC will make any breakthrough in China market as the local smartphone vendors engaged in a round of price wars which are making HTC's position impossible

MediaTek Helio X10 based HTC One M9+ hits Europe

http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/01920739af39a600d3672812f46ff1c1_L.jpg (http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/01920739af39a600d3672812f46ff1c1_XL.jpg)

High resolution, decent performer
HTC has finally decided to bring some of its MediaTek powered phones to Europe.

The first of many to come is the HTC One M9+, and this phone has a few nice features that are even topping the company's flagship HTC M9 phone.
Let's start with the obvious ones; it has a 5.2-inch screen with 2560x1440 resolution, which is significantly better than the 1920x1080 that you get with HTC One M9. The screen uses a 24-bit Super LCD3 capacitive touchscreen. The second major difference is MediaTek MT6795T processor that is branded as Helio X10. It packs eight Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 2.2GHz. The same SoC comes with PowerVR 6200 GPU that is definitely not winning against Adreno 420. The HTC One M9+ comes with a 3GB RAM and 32GB storage as well as microSD slot.
The phone measures 151 x 72 x 9.6 mm (5.94 x 2.83 x 0.38 in) and weighs 168 g (5.93 oz). It packs a 20-megapixel rear camera and 4-megapixel camera for selfies. This 20-megapixel sensor will help you take 1080p videos at 60 FPS and 2160 aka 4K videos at 30 FPS.
The main camera has an additional 2.1 megapixel camera that can help the phone make better photos and change the focus on some pictures. This is not a bad thing to have.
One other thing that was not present on the HTC One M9 is the fingerprint sensor that you can use to unlock your phone.
The phone will be available in many markets across Europe including UK, German, the whole DACH area and a few other major markets. It will launch in gunmetal grey and HTC is still not comfortable sharing the retail price.
The phone marks the end of an era, an era of total domination of Qualcomm's Snapdragon processors in HTC devices. We heard that many higher end brand companies are embracing MediaTek processors as a good alternative to Qualcomm. The company offers Cat 4 LTE and decent performance with its SoCs and every market tends to be better with a bit of competition.

HTC M9 to get Android 5.1 in EMEA

http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/1384c1c6ef62457d92a5c7513ba40d66_L.jpg (http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/1384c1c6ef62457d92a5c7513ba40d66_XL.jpg)

US has had it for a month now
The tables have turned and the US got the Android 5.1 update for the HTC M9 flagship phone before Europe.

Most of the US carriers have released the over the air (OTA) update to their customers who are now enjoying the Android 5.1. HTC just announced that the customers in EMEA - Europe, Middle East and Africa, are about to start seeing the update on August 4th, or today.
As we already know, 5.1 doesn't bring major changes, but it would feel good to know that you have the latest and greatest Android version on the phone. Currently HTC offers Android 5.0.2 with Sense 7 on its phones. LG G4 has had Android 5.1 for a few weeks now and Samsung Galaxy S6 is slowly getting the update across many territories.
HTC has publicly said that it will update this phone to Android M, but we will be lucky if that happens before the end of 2016. Traditionally, the latest and greatest Android launches in Q4. Judging from Lollipop Android 5.0 launch, we might expect Android M to role out in late October or November for Nexus devices and later for everyone else.

HTC Releasing MediaTek SoC Variant Of One M9?

After the Snapdragon 810 version of HTC One M9 brought in less than the projected revenue (http://wccftech.com/htcs-m9-sales-suffer-snapdragon-810-blame/) for the Taiwanese company, it looks like HTC is finally doing something of worth, releasing a MediaTek version of its One M9 handset. The only question remains, which SoC from MediaTek will the latest version of One M9 be sporting?
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/m9fb-635x405.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/m9fb.jpg)
HTC One M9 MediaTek Version To Be Released During The Month Of October; Chipset Details Are Currently UnconfirmedAccording to ePrice (http://www.eprice.com.tw/mobile/talk/4542/4947896/1/), the MediaTek version of HTC’s One M9 is going to be released during sometime in October. While the source does state that the handset is going to be released in Taiwan, it does not mention if the device is going to be released globally. Releasing it globally will do the company more favors than keeping it limited to a single region. Throughout 2015, HTC performed very poorly (http://wccftech.com/htc-q2-financials-released/), and releasing a flurry of different high-end handsets did not turn the wheel of fortune towards the company’s favor. A sizable investment from Chinese security company Qihoo 360 (http://wccftech.com/qihoo-360-investing-in-htc/) was required so that HTC would have sufficient capital to work with when releasing improved handsets.
The reason for releasing a MediaTek version of One M9 is very straightforward; due to Snapdragon 810’s overheating attributes, the company is obviously through with Qualcomm momentarily while it searches for another alternative mobile chipset manufacturing firm. In order to rival the performance of Snapdragon 810, we suspect that the ‘system on a chip’ running inside the upcoming smartphone is going to be Helio X20 (http://wccftech.com/mediatek-helio-x30-details/), or in other words, MT6797.

For those of you unaware of this, Helio X20 is going to feature a deca-core processor, and will be void of Cortex-A57 cores. Instead, the chipset will have Cortex-A72 cores (two of them), and their performance will be supplemented by eight Cortex-A53 cores. In our opinion, this is the chipset that should be present in the company’s MediaTek version. However, we cannot help but feel that the handset will be incorporated with Helio X10 (http://wccftech.com/redmi-note-2-leaked-images-show-mt6795-soc/), which is no pushover when it comes to performance, but lacks the extra kick delivered by Snapdragon 810.
Are you guys looking forward to seeing an HTC One M9 sporting a Helio X20, or will a Helio X10 suffice? Let us know your thoughts.

HTC Releasing A Helio X20 One M9 October; Will This Finally End The Company’s Abysmal Run?

Less than 24 hours ago, we reported that HTC was going to release a MediaTek version (http://wccftech.com/htc-one-m9-mediatek-version-in-october/) of its One M9 handset, with the current one running a Snapdragon 810. In order to rival or exceed the performance level of the Snapdragon 810 variant, anything less than a Helio X20 (http://wccftech.com/mediatek-helio-x30-details/) will be severely discouraged from us. However, it looks like our prayers have been answered because One M9 will finally be sporting MediaTek’s Helio X20, a chipset that houses a 10-core processor.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/HTC-One-M9_camera-635x354.jpeg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/HTC-One-M9_camera.jpeg)
HTC’s One M9 Will Finally Be Rid Of Overheating Curse Of Snapdragon 810 As The Company Preps To Release A Helio X20 Version In The Month Of OctoberA leak coming out of Russia (http://mobiltelefon.ru/post_1439294786.html) reveals that HTC One M9 is going to be running MediaTek’s Helio X20 SoC, which comprises up of a 10-core processor that does not sport any of ARM’s Cortex-A57 cores, and for good reason. Huawei earlier stated (http://wccftech.com/huawei-details-performance-kirin-930-cortexa53e-cores-superior-performance/) that it did not want to incorporate Cortex-A57 in its future products because they consume too more power as compared to Cortex-A53.

Instead, Helio X20 will sport two Cortex-A72 cores, providing much more processing firepower and efficiency over Cortex-A57. Supplementing the performance of Cortex-A72 will be eight Cortex-A53 cores, and let us remind you that they are no pushovers either. After HTC made one of the worst choices to incorporate Snapdragon 810, the company recorded ‘lower than projected (http://wccftech.com/htcs-m9-sales-suffer-snapdragon-810-blame/)’ sales thanks to overheating issues that plagued its flagship smartphone.
With the release of the MediaTek version, HTC will be looking to put an end to its egregious financial run, which has all but exhausted the firm’s monetary resources. The other specifications of the upcoming smartphone will pretty much remain the same between both chipset variants. The only difference is that with the Helio X20 version, you will not feel the discomforting experience of a heated smartphone chassis while you are gripping the device.
Another aspect of the device’s success will also depend upon its pricing. Granted; premium devices should be stamped with a larger price tag, but when you are surrounded by the likes of Huawei, Xiaomi, ZTE and countless others, increasing the price of your high-end phone will do little to add to your success. Let us hope that HTC finally comes through with the MediaTek version of its One M9 handset.

Why the HTC One M9+ was pulled from Holland

http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/a209f08b52e3f3d46c95495861119657_L.jpg (http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/a209f08b52e3f3d46c95495861119657_XL.jpg)

Lack of 4G 20 band effected two carriers
Last week the HTC One M9+ was pulled from sales in the Netherlands, but not from rest of the Europe leaving many people puzzled.

Fudzilla investigated and found out that HTC has forgot to implement the band 20 in its 4G part of the phone. Band 20 is vital to Dutch carriers and two important ooperators in the Netherlands. HTC told its investors the M9+ phone wasn’t designed to support band 20 (http://investors.htc.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=148697&p=irol-newsArticle&ID=2079391).
We are unaware if this problem is limited to Holland or if any other country is using band 20.
Fudzilla played with HTC E9+ that comes with aHelio X10 chip from MediaTek with the same LTE modem. It worked well with Austrian carriers. We saw LTE speeds close to 80 Mbit a second download which suggests there was nothing wrong with it.
HTC has informed its board that the HTC M9+ was designed to run on the majority of popular networks in Europe, China, India and Asia but obviously they forgot to include all of the bands.
There are more than 30 different 4G bands and it is not easy to support them all. The loss of Holland is a major problem for HTC, which really does not need these sorts of woes.
The company insists that this is not going to affect the financial numbers as Holalnd represents a small portion of its world wide market.

HTC could definitely use a boost when it comes to smartphone sales (http://hothardware.com/news/htc-throws-in-the-towel-will-no-longer-issue-guidance-after-business-deemed-worthless). The company that was once a shining star for the Android movement has been surpassed by flashier competitors like Samsung (http://hothardware.com/tags/samsung) and budget Chinese rivals like Huawei (http://hothardware.com/tags/huawei) and Xiaomi (http://hothardware.com/tags/xiaomi). To help gets some of its mojo back, HTC is offering up some holiday promotions (http://hothardware.com/news/htcs-one-a9-pricing-see-saw-rebounds-with-limited-time-return-to-399) to entice buyers to embrace its products.

HTC One M9
One of the most attractive offers revolves around the company’s flagship One M9 smartphone (http://hothardware.com/reviews/htc-one-m9-review). 32GB internal storage/microSD expansion up to 2TB
5-inch 1080p display
20MP rear camera/4MP front-facing camera

HTC Spreads Holiday Cheer With One M9 Android 6.0 Marshmallow Update

While kids across the land are anxiously awaiting the arrival of Santa and wondering what gifts he'll bring, HTC (http://hothardware.com/tags/htc) has decided that every owner of an unlocked One M9 handset living in the U.S. made the nice list and will receive a special gift of their own -- an over-the-air (OTA) update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow (http://hothardware.com/tags/android-60).

HTC is making good on a promise it made earlier this month. Following that up, HTC's Vice President of Product Management, Mo Versi, announced the news on Twitter yesterday, saying the updates were being finalized for distribution in the next day (which is today). In addition, owners of HTC's unlocked One A9 handsets could expect an incremental bump to Android 6.0.1, which comes with extra emojis.

Happy Holidays! Updates to the Unlocked A9 6.0.1 and Unlocked M9 6.0 will be able to be downloaded within next 24 hours! Enjoy :-)

There's been no mention of when an upgrade to Marshmallow might arrive for HTC One M9 owners living outside the U.S., though if that's you, hang tight -- we can't imagine it will be far behind.

As for carrier versions of the One M9, Marshmallow is expected to arrive in early 2016. It takes a little longer for carrier versions because of the additional testing that's required, in part because of carrier specific tweaks.

The One M9 isn't the newest kid on the block, though it's still a decent flagship. You can read our full review (http://hothardware.com/reviews/htc-one-m9-review) for an expanded impression.

HTC M9 Android 6.0 doubles Antutu performance

http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/fbad2eaabbfa89ff37091761a4aedd37_L.jpg (http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/fbad2eaabbfa89ff37091761a4aedd37_XL.jpg)

Geekbench is much higher too
HTC is committed to updating most of its flagship phones within 90 days of the Google official OS release. Last year's flagship HTC M9 has been updated and we have noticed that most benchmark scores have significantly increased.

After the update installed we noticed that the Antutu score jumped from an average of 56000 under Android 5.1 software to a whopping 111411 that we are seeing now. Some of our German colleagues saw similar performance increases (http://www.inside-handy.de/news/38821-htc-one-m9-apple-iphone-6splus-benchmark-test-vergleich). When we saw the HTC M9 at the Mobile World Congress 2015, we scored 53852 (http://fudzilla.com/news/mobile/37197-htc-one-m9-scores-53852-in-antutu) and this figure partially increased over the time. At least until we received the Android 6.0 update.
Geekbench scores also jumped. Before the update we were seeing around 800 in single core test and 2430 in the multi-core test. After the Android 6.0 update, which took more than an hour to install, the single core score jumped to 1245 (close to a 50 percent increase) and the multi-core jumped to 3828 – a 63 percent increase.

http://www.fudzilla.com/images/stories/2016/February/M9AntutuMay2015.jpghttp://www.fudzilla.com/images/stories/2016/February/M9Antutu.jpg
The above scores are from May 2015 and February 3 2016 (with Android 6.0 update).

3Dmark GPU tests remained the same. The Basemark II score increased to 1668 from 1500. It is not as dramatic as the other scores.
Android 6.0 has a new compilerbut this is not the performance change you should normally expect from an Android OS upgrade. We are talking to HTC to get to the bottom of it, to see what might be the cause of such dramatic performance increase. Maybe HTC finally uncaged the Snapdragon 810. .
The battery life doesn’t seem to be affected and the phone doesn’t get hot, so users can only be happy.
