Heroes of the Storm Goes Gold, Releases on June 2nd

Blizzard’s much awaited MOBA with a hint of fanfiction is about to become official (http://us.battle.net/heroes/en/blog/18813884/heroes-of-the-storm-launches-june-2-4-20-2015). June 2nd marks the day that Heroes of the Storm finally makes its exit from a two week beta test and out into the open world. The best part about it, is that Heroes of the Storm will be completely free.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=ZI5NlUEXLpM

Heroes of the Storm will make its official debut on the PC on June 2nd 2015, and has a fantastic trailer to show you why you want to play it. In Heroes of the Storm you can assume control of one of thirty different characters from the various Blizzard franchises to fight in up to a 5v5 match in a very MOBA style atmosphere. You can find characters from the Diablo, StarCraft, and Warcraft franchises that can be purchased with in game currency or real money.

The best part is that there is no price of entry. Characters can even be used based on a weekly rotation, so you’ll eventually be able to enjoy all the characters anyway. So the game is truly free, if you want it to be. Of course there are plenty of opportunities to spend money, just like in any freemium game.
Blizzard has been throwing around the idea of their own MOBA genre game for quite some time, though nothing has quite come to fruition. The original idea stemmed from a custom map called Blizzard DOTA that debuted (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AAgUx0nmgRc) at BlizzCon 2010, and allowed players to follow the basic premises of DOTA type gameplay as a mod within StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty.
After the relatively positive reception of that map, Blizzard decided to commercialize on that response by creating their own, and thus the idea evolved from being an expansion of StarCraft II to becoming it’s very own game as Heroes of the Storm.

Heroes Of The Storm Review: Easy to get into and fun to play (http://www.techspot.com/review/1020-heroes-of-the-storm/)

“We’re closing the gap,” the Nova standing next to me shouted through her radio. “Keep your eyes on the prize!” But it was only the character saying that. The person playing Nova had already accepted defeat. We all had. Except for the computer. “It’s over,” one of my teammates typed a moment after Nova tried to rouse our spirits. “Yup,” another responded. They didn’t want to keep fighting. But we couldn’t surrender, either. So instead we all just wandered idly around the map for a final few minutes, waiting for the enemy team to make one last push into our base.
Blizzard, the company that made Heroes of the Storm, defines the game as a “hero brawler.” But really, it’s a MOBA—an idiosyncratic and sparsely populated genre of games that mix together bits and pieces of real-time strategy and fighting games in fiercely competitive five-on-five matches. At face value, Heroes has a lot in common with its popular predecessors League of Legends and Dota 2—games that, ironically enough, were inspired by heavily modified versions of the classic RTS games StarCraft and Warcraft III. Like League and Dota, Heroes pits two teams of fantastical creatures against each other to see who can destroy the other’s base first. One building specifically. In Heroes, it’s called the core:

Blizzard did its best to differentiate Heroes of the Storm from the rest of the MOBA pack, though. One of the most curious details I noticed early in my time with the game is the way it always tries to cheer you on, no matter how bad the battle at hand is looking. The characters fighting next to you will shout things like, “don’t give up!” or, “keep fighting, the tide is turning!” The fact that Heroes doesn’t actually allow teams to surrender (http://kotaku.com/hey-blizzard-not-having-a-surrender-option-in-heroes-1695502870) shows that Blizzard really means it when it has the game say: don’t give up.
It can be nice to hear the game deliver a reassuring message—one that doesn’t usually come so easily to your human teammates. When a game is going really badly, though, it starts to sound out of touch with reality. As if the game itself is behaving like that one strong-headed teammate who just won’t accept the fact that he’s losing until the word “DEFEAT” is plastered across the screen.

King Leoric makes an entrance to Heroes of the Storm

Explained as having an "odd mixture of damage, control and mobility" by Curse in a spotlight video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ufUFK6tAbpY), the Skeleton King is shaping up to be a formidable force on Blizzard's Heroes of the Storm battlefield.

<iframe width="781" height="469" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/ufUFK6tAbpY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Set as a warrior and team tank, this extra-tall hero comes with a trait which enables him to still partially function even after death, a 'skeletal swing' which deals damage and slows enemies, 'Drain Hope' which serves to drain a foe's hit points over a four second period and 'Wraith Walk' which enables you to travel as a ghost for a short time, allowing you to teleport to it before the time runs out - similar to an ability as seen in Sylvannas. Finally, his first ultimate allows you to create a medium-range barrier in order to lock all friends and foe within for a few seconds.

The other ultimate on offer is named 'March of the Black King' and puts your Leoric on a rampage, marching forward and swinging his weapon. If these abilities interest you, Heroes of the Storm is a free to play multiplayer online battle arena game and can be found here (http://us.battle.net/heroes/en/).

Blizzard had a very long and impressive success with World of Warcraft and while that is declining, they haven’t really found the next big thing to capture the users on the same level. Heroes of Storm has been off to a relatively good start, but nothing compared to World of Warcraft. That means that the marketing has to change and we see a lot of promotions lately with Heroes of the Storm packages bundled. The latest in this series is MSI that now bundles limited edition versions of Heroes of the Storm with select gaming systems.
While the game in itself is free, there are many items to get and these bundles include downloadable limited edition items for Heroes of the Storm. MSI’s bundle comes with their desktops and All-in-One PCs that are officially authorized and recommended by Blizzard Entertainment. While we have seen other bundles in the past, this is the first time that Blizzard teamed up for full systems.

Most people should know Heroes of the Storm by now, even if they haven’t played it themselves. It is a multiplayer online battle arena game that features heroes from Blizzard’s other games such as Diablo, Warcraft, and StarCraft. The game uses both free-to-play and freemium models and is supported by micropayments, which can be used to obtain heroes, visual alterations for the heroes in the game and mounts.

The limited edition MSI GAMING 24 and GAMING 27 all-in-one PCs have been engraved with Blizzard’s Heroes to make it remarkable. Users will find an exclusive voucher with the Hero character named Valla inside. The Nighblade MI2 system comes with an exclusive voucher with Hero character, Diablo with a Kaijo Skin while the MSI Nightblade X2B comes with a voucher for the Hero character Gazlowe and a Big Top skin.

These MSI systems might be compact and small, but they still pack great power that is backed by Intel i7’s and Nvidia 900 series graphics cards, among other things. If you just want something simple that works right out of the box, then solutions like these could be perfect. If you also play Heroes of the Storm or want to start it, then they might be perfect.
