Star Wars 1313 Might Have Been Resurrected

StarWarsHQ has reported that the Star Wars game being penned by Amy Hennig, is actually Star Wars 1313. Hennig in an interview with GameInformer, she rejected the rumor that they are working on an open world Han Solo/Boba Fett game. GameInformer believes that Hennig is indeed working on a game based on Star Wars 1313.

Star Wars 1313 was announced in 2012, and was cancelled a year later, resulting from Disney’s buyout of Lucasfilm Games. The game was supposedly an open-world adventure set in Level 1313, an underground den found in Coruscant. It was confirmed after the cancellation that the protagonist of the game was indeed non other than Boba Fett.
Hennig was the lead writer behind the critically acclaimed, Uncharted series. EA could have very well changed their mind after Hennig left Naughty Dog, and resurrected the project.
The description for Star Wars 1313, was as follows:

Star Wars 1313 will feature epic action adventure game play including exotic weaponry and gadgets that bounty hunters depend on for survival. In addition, the game will feature a combination of agile cover-based combat, epic platforming and seamless playable cinematic game play. Players will experience awe-inspiring and action-packed cinematic sequences, constantly staying engaged through the threat, pressure and tension of this criminal underworld.

Star Wars 1313 gathered a huge amount of fans Star Wars 1313, created an extremely large amount of buzz, when it was first revealed, with an exemplary amount of visual fidelity for the time, and a look and gameplay style reminiscent of Uncharted. Who better to create an Uncharted Star Wars game than the actual person who wrote Uncharted?
Rumors can be wrong, and Amy Hennig could be working on an entirely different project, completely unrelated to Star Wars 1313. It would be quite a shame though, as the concept does sound extremely promising. Disney/EA would be smart to bring the game back, given its positive buzz, already in-progress development and as a handy marketing tie-in to the Christmas release of the new Star Wars movie, The Force Awakens.
Regardless, Amy Hennig is an incredibly gifted writer, and whatever project she is involved with, it will likely turnout to be great. We will bring any more information regarding EA’s Star Wars projects, as soon as it becomes available.

Unnamed Star Wars Project Going To Be Like Star Wars 1313 and Uncharted

Nolan North, the actor that voices Nathan Drake in Uncharted, was confronted about the departure of Amy Hennig to Visceral at MetroCon and was able to shed some light on not only that, but also on the mysterious Star Wars game supposedly in development.
http://cdn4.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Starwars1313_4-635x357.jpeg (http://cdn3.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Starwars1313_4.jpeg)
Nathan Drake gives away a little treasure, tells us about the unnamed Star Wars game from Visceral. At the Q&A panel at MetroCon a fan asked a pointed question about Amy Hennig leaving and how that effected the script and story of Uncharted. Apparently they had to completely discard the eight months of production with her script. After Amy left, Bruce Straley and Neil Druckmann took the lead with a slightly different tone than before, though the overall dream was said to be the same.

It’s just that they’re different styles. But it’s true to the story.
– Nolan North via NeoGaf (http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1072088)

The really great information that came from this panel talk is about the secretive Star Wars project that Amy Hennig was supposedly hired for at Visceral Games. Nolan North was very quick to reassure fans that she’s definitely going to be bringing her distinct story-telling style to Visceral, and thus integrate it into this Star Wars game we keep hearing about.

“If you’re a big fan of Amy Hennig with her styles of stories, the big thing bout her is that she’s gone to EA and is going to reboot a brand new Star Wars franchise in the style of Uncharted and I happen to know a lot about it and it’s gonna be awesome,”
– Nolan North via NeoGaf (http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1072088)
Reboot a brand new franchise? That’s an interesting choice of words to use when describing what Amy wants to do. In fact it speaks to our previous assessment (http://wccftech.com/star-wars-1313-resurrected/) that Star Wars 1313 was going to be continued (or that it definitely should be (http://wccftech.com/petition-bring-star-wars-1313/)). The only open-world Star Wars game that exists, but was never completed, is Star Wars 1313, so it’s the only reboot possible in this scenario.
There really is no reason to doubt his appraisal of the state of Amy’s new project. He’s certainly in a position to be privy to at least some slivers of information. EA and Visceral would be remiss if they didn’t capitalize on an already fascinating game concept.

Apparently Visceral’s Star Wars game resembles cancelled 1313 (http://www.kitguru.net/gaming/matthew-wilson/apparently-viscerals-star-wars-game-resembles-cancelled-1313/)

One of the most anticipated Star Wars games a few years back was 1313, unfortunately once Disney took over the franchise and shut down the Lucas Arts game studios, Star Wars 1313 was cancelled. However, EA has since taken the reigns on games in the franchise, with Battlefront coming out this year and perhaps more exciting, Visceral Games has a secret Star Wars game in the works, with Uncharted writer, Amy Hennig, directing it.
Now according to Uncharted actor, Nolan North, who remains friends with Amy Hennig following her departure from Naughty Dog last year, Visceral Games’ new Star Wars project will bring back elements of the cancelled 1313 project and throw some Uncharted style in to the mix.

Speaking at Metrocon 2015 (Via NeoGAF (http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1072088)), Nolan North said: “If you’re a big fan of Amy Hennig and her styles of story: the big thing about her is that she’s gone to EA and is going to reboot a brand new Star Wars franchise in the style of Uncharted. And I happen to know a lot about it, and it’s gonna be awesome.”
The game isn’t a revival of 1313 but it is “along the same lines”, the actor then went on to say that he actually did the original mocap tests for that particular game.

Jade Raymond Announces Motive Studios, Working On Hennig Star Wars Project

Jade Raymond, the producer for the better Assassin’s Creed games (one & two), has announced that she’ll be creating a new game studio called Motive that’ll be handling Amy Hennig’s untitled open-world Star Wars project.
http://cdn4.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/jade-raymond-635x357.jpg (http://cdn3.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/jade-raymond.jpg)
Motive Studios, a new game development studio, also promises new franchises. The result of Jade Raymond leaving Ubisoft in October of 2014 is her creation of Motive Studios. The new studio will be based in Montreal and the first project that will be tackled will be the much anticipated Star Wars project that may be a revival of Star Wars 1313.
In addition, Jade wishes to work closely with BioWare on Mass-Effect Andromeda to ensure the direction is in line with what Mass-Effect fans expect and want. What else will come from her new studio? New IP of course, though nothing has been announced quite yet.

“I’m a huge fan of the games that have come out of Visceral and I feel honoured to be working with such a talented team led by studio GM Scott Probst,” she writes. “I’ve also known Amy for years and have admired her work on the Uncharted games! I’m thrilled that the first big project that we will work on in Montreal will have Amy as Creative Director. An opportunity to work with her and the Visceral team, and to play in the Star Wars universe, is once-in-a-lifetime stuff.”

– Jade Raymond
Jade Raymond has had a very successful career, helping to realize the initial Assassin’s Creed idea that launched a world-wide phenomenon. The Splinter Cell series was also revived as a result of her direction as the executive producer of Splinter Cell: Blacklist, arguably one of the best entries in the series. Jade also is on the board of directors at WIFTI, which is dedicated to the advancement of women in the entertainment industry.
Her previous accomplishments means that she’s a great fit for helping to produce the Star Wars game that we all want. Her direction should hopefully help to create a game with fresh ideas, great gameplay and a compelling plot.

Star Wars 1313 Still Being Looked At By Lucasarts; “We definitely want to”

Star Wars 1313 hasn’t been forgotten by producer Lucasfilm. According Lucasfilm producer and president Kathleen Kennedy, the studio is spending a lot of time looking at the game’s concept art, and they might very well develop things further. In any case, the studio definitely wants to.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/13131-635x404.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/13131.jpg)
Website Slashfilm reports (http://www.slashfilm.com/star-wars-tv-show/) that, they walked into Kennedy at the Star Wars: The Force Awakenspress junket, after which they had a chat with the president of Lucasfilm. During their conversation, Kennedy suddenly mentioned Star Wars 1313 – a game that was seemingly cancelled when Disney bought Star Wars maker, Lucasfilm.
Kennedy was asked about the live-action Star Wars TV show, Star Wars: Underworld, when she mentioned Star Wars 1313 in her answer.

No. No, interestingly enough, thats an area we’ve spent a lot of time, reading through the material that he developed is something we very much would like to explore. And there was 1313 the game, where there was…

Star Wars 1313 Star Wars 1313 was trademarked back in 2012, and officially announced during the E3 of 2012. Unfortunately, the game was later shelved when Disney acquired the Star Wars rights.

Named for Level 1313, a ruthless criminal underground deep below the surface of the planet of Coruscant, the game puts players in control of a deadly bounty hunter as he uses an arsenal of exotic weaponry to hunt down his marks and uncover the truth surrounding a criminal conspiracy. Star Wars 1313 emphasizes epic set pieces and fast-paced combat with a hero who uses human skills and gadgets, rather than supernatural Force powers, to make his way through this dangerous world.

Some promising screenshots from the game was also released, which can be seen below.

Kennedy continued when being asked about the game’s concept-art.

Unbelievable. So our attitude is, we don’t want to throw any of that stuff away. It’s gold. And it’s something we’re spending a lot of time looking at, pouring through, discussing, and we may very well develop those things further. We definitely want to.
From the looks of it, Lucasfilm still wants to develop the game further. Hopefully, upgraded to current-gen or possibly next-gen though, since the game was build with the help of DX11 running on the Unreal Engine 3. I guess only time will tell.
