Galaxy Note 5 Reported To Be Codenamed ‘Project Noble’; Project Zen To Be A Variant Of Galaxy S6

Before Samsung decided to roll out its flagship duo, Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge were placed under the Project Zero (http://wccftech.com/samsung-galaxy-s6-dualedge-screen/) codename, which was the very first time that Samsung actually used a proper word to be placed next to the word ‘Project’. Now, the South Korean phone giant’s upcoming flagship phablet, Galaxy Note 5 is going be placed under Project Zero, according to the information posted by Sam Mobile (http://www.sammobile.com/2015/04/29/exclusive-samsung-project-zen-and-project-noble-details/). To give your memory a nice little jolt, Galaxy Note 5 is rumored to sport a 4K resolution, since incorporating a 1440p one would just look mainstream now wouldn’t it?
http://cdn4.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/asdasdsadsa-635x432.png (http://cdn4.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/asdasdsadsa.png)
Alongside Project Noble, Samsung Is Also Rumored To Be Working On Project Zen, Which Will Be A Variant Of Its Galaxy S6 Just when we thought that Samsung was through releasing Galaxy S6 variants, we have received news that in addition to Samsung’s Project Zero, the company is also busy at work with Project Zen, which involves a variant of its Galaxy S6 smartphone. The upcoming variant is allegedly bearing the model number SM-G928, which is very similar to the SM-G920 model number stamped on Galaxy S6. According to the information provided by the source, Samsung will be developing several region-specific variants. These variants will fall under the following regions:

European
South Korean
US (AT&T and Verizon)

Given below is a list of all the model numbers of Project Noble and Project Zen:

Noble – SM-N920F EUR XX
Noble – SM-N920S KOR SKC
Noble – SM-N920K KOR KTC
Noble – SM-N920A NA ATT
Noble – SM-N920V NA VZW
Zen – SM-G928A NA ATT
Zen – SM-G928S KOR SKC
Zen – SM-G928F EUR XX
Zen – SM-G928V NA VZW

So far, there is absolutely no word on the hardware specifications of devices falling under the aforementioned codenames. For all we know, the new Galaxy S6 will finally feature an expandable storage slot, which is a welcome addition that is void on the company’s current flagship tag team. As for Project Noble, the only information that we know of is that it will be rendering the 4K resolution, which is a downright overkill feature, to say the least.
It is possible that Galaxy Note 5 and the variant of Galaxy S6 will be running Samsung’s custom core named Exynos M1 (http://wccftech.com/samsungs-custom-core-received-software-support/), but since word is going around that the particular SoC will be present in the company’s Galaxy S7, we are going to have to ahead and debunk that rumor. Still, it would be nice to witness what Samsung has got concocted in the mobile processor department.
Unfortunately, that is all the news that is available concerning Project Noble and Project Zen. As soon as additional information becomes available to us, you all know where it is going to be published.

Galaxy Note 5 Rumor; Features Type-C USB Port, 5.9 Inch Screen And 4,100 MAh Battery

While we all know how eager Samsung wants to raise the bar with every smartphone it releases, the latest rumor revolves around Samsung’s upcoming phablet sized wonder, Galaxy Note 5 and its beautiful 4K resolution (http://wccftech.com/galaxy-note-5-uhd-resolution-2160p-pure-goodness/) being rendered on a Super AMOLED type display. In addition to the dense resolution, Galaxy Note 5 is expected to pack all the goodies that you should expect from a higher-tier smartphone, and more. Now, according to the latest leak (http://www.concept-phones.com/samsung/samsung-galaxy-note-5-already-rendered-has-a-4k-5-9-inch-super-amoled-screen-video/), Samsung is expected to increase the screen size from 5.7 inches (both Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Note 4 possessed the aforementioned screen size) to 5.9 inches. In short, that will reduce the ppi density of the smartphone, leading to a less deleterious effect on the overall battery life.
http://cdn4.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/Samsung-Galaxy-Note-5-concept-1-635x468.jpg (http://cdn2.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/Samsung-Galaxy-Note-5-concept-1.jpg)
Galaxy Note 5 Expected To Come With A USB Type-C Port, 4,100 mAh Battery And Dual-Curved Edge Display Now that Samsung has discarded incorporating an inexpensive plastic exterior to its flagship lineup, we should expect no less than a premium chassis that the Galaxy S6 flagship duo are sporting. Galaxy Note 5 is also expected to come stacked with a 4,100 mAh lithium polymer battery, which is able to hold more charges compared to regular lithium ion batteries.
Seeing as how the Type-C USB port’s popularity will increase exponentially in the coming months, we should also expect that Galaxy Note 5 will be sporting the new port. While Samsung’s efforts of rolling out premium handsets were given significant amount of praise, the one area where the smartphone giant was severely criticized was not incorporating a microSD slot on Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge (http://wccftech.com/galaxy-s6-vs-iphone-6-vs-htc-one-m9-camera-comparison/). Perhaps Samsung will ameliorate this short-coming and allow users to expand their existing storage on the upcoming smartphone, up to a limit of 256 GB perhaps.

As for the amount of on-board memory that will be featured in Galaxy Note 5, we expect Samsung to begin shipment of capacity variants that exceed the 128 GB limit. After all, if you’re paying the price for a premium handset, then the least Samsung could do is provide the smartphone populace with all of the crucial features that simplify the mobile computing experience.
Last, but certainly not least, Galaxy Note 5 is being rumored to feature a dual-curved edge display. This will allow users to perform tasks on both side of the screen rather than be limited to just one. Hopefully, during the month of September, Samsung will not disappoint its loyal confederacy of Galaxy smartphone consumers. As for us, we are just as excited as you are.

Exynos 7422 SoC Rumored To Be Present Inside Galaxy Note 5

Previously, it was reported that Samsung’s Galaxy Note 5 was going to be placed under Project Noble (http://wccftech.com/galaxy-note-5-reported-codenamed-project-noble-project-zen-variant-galaxy-s6/), along with another Galaxy S6 variant that was in the pipeline and had been placed under Project Zen. Now, according to the latest details, it appears that Samsung is indeed going to incorporate a much better performing chipset in its upcoming flagship phablet. The SoC is going to be named Exynos 7422 and information on whether or not it belongs to the company’s custom core is currently unavailable.
http://cdn4.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/asdasdsadad-635x244.png (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/asdasdsadad.png)
Exynos 7422 Is Expected To Be The Company’s First Ever All-In-One Solution, Combining The CPU, GPU, RAM, Storage And Modem In A Single Chip It has been reported that Samsung has begun working on displays that are rendering the 4K resolution. (http://wccftech.com/latest-galaxy-note-5-leak-states-smartphone-feature-behemoth-screen-size-59-inches-4k-resolution-beefy-4100-mah-battery-usb-typec-port/) What this means is the Galaxy Note 5 could be the first ever smartphone to incorporate such a high resolution. Unfortunately, we are all aware of the rapid battery depletion that comes with running a highly dense resolution so in order to help with that, it is rumored that the high performing phablet is going to be featuring a 4,100 mAh battery.

As for Exynos 7422, it is going to be Samsung’s first ever AIO solution. More commonly known as ePoP, it will combine the CPU, GPU, RAM, storage, and modem on a single chip. Just to jog your memory, Samsung’s Galaxy Alpha also featured a similar solution, with the only difference being that it combined just the RAM and storage in a single package. Additionally, Samsung happens to be far ahead of the trend, as there are rumors (http://www.sammobile.com/2015/05/07/rumor-samsung-galaxy-note-5-project-zen-details-emerge/) that the smartphone giant is testing out its Galaxy Note 5 units with a new Exynos 7430 chipset. Before you jump in exciting, we are confident that Exynos 7430 is most likely going to be an engineering sample and it appears that it might be incorporated in the company’s Galaxy S7.
As for Project Zen, the handset is rumored to feature a 5.4 inch/5.5 inch Super AMOLED dual-edge curved display, along with an S Pen, and surprisingly, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 808 SoC. While the rumored hardware specifications of the smartphone are thoroughly disappointing, we hope that Samsung packs far more arsenal it the handset than we are being led to believe. When we concern ourselves with Galaxy Note 5, the flagship phablet is looking to be one heck of a mobile powerhouse, and come September, we will finally be able to witness just how high Samsung has raised the bar.

Samsung Executive Confirms September Note 5 Launch with Samsung Pay

There have been rumors indicating that Samsung is looking for an early Galaxy Note 5 launch this year. While these rumors were trashed by Shin, a latest slip-up coming from Samsung executive further confirms that Galaxy Note 5 (http://wccftech.com/galaxy-note-5-edge-and-galaxy-note-5-specs-list-leaked/) won’t come anytime before September.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/gsmarena_0021.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/gsmarena_0021.jpg)
Galaxy Note 5 launch at IFA: Samsung has usually launched its Note series around IFA, however, many sources expected an early release this year for the company to be ready against iPhone 6s (http://wccftech.com/iphone-6s-plus-will-feature-2k-display/) duo launch. Sammy is though sticking with the tradition this year as well. Samsung’s Executive Vice President Rhee In Jong revealed accidentally that the Note 5 launch will happen in September.
This slip-up happened as the executive was talking about Samsung Pay mobile payment system. Rhee was talking to investors in a conference call on Wednesday sharing that Samsung Pay will be delayed. Earlier it was expected to launch in July firing up the Note 5 launch rumors too. However, Rhee confirmed that now it will debut with the high-end Samsung Galaxy Note 5 in September.

Samsung Pay is going to be launched in United States, South Korea, China, and Europe. Rhee added that the company expects up to 20% of the smartphone owners using this payment services. This comes a year after Apple announced its Apple Pay mobile payments system:
“Google, Apple and PayPal are among the companies seeking to capture a piece of the mobile-payment market as customers seek to use their smartphones to buy coffee, clothing and food at stores and restaurants. The market will top $142 billion by 2019, compared with $67 billion this year, according to Forrester Research Inc.” – Bloomberg (http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-06-03/samsung-delays-planned-start-of-new-smartphone-payments-service).
IFA 2015 starts on September 4th giving us the Note 5 launch date too. As far as Note 5 release is concerned, Samsung is highly expected to release the Note right after the launch possibly at the end of September.

Auto-Eject S Pen Function To Be Present In Galaxy Note 5

A flagship smartphone will always have a boatload of rumors uprooted and will be related to its hardware specifications and features. Such is the case with Galaxy Note 5 (http://wccftech.com/exynos-7422-soc-rumored-present-galaxy-note-5/), which is expected to sport a 4K resolution (http://wccftech.com/galaxy-note-5-uhd-resolution-2160p-pure-goodness/), a gigantic 4,100 mAh battery, and the innovative Type-C USB port (http://wccftech.com/latest-galaxy-note-5-leak-states-smartphone-feature-behemoth-screen-size-59-inches-4k-resolution-beefy-4100-mah-battery-usb-typec-port/). Now, an auto-eject S Pen function has also been added, where the device will eject the stylus on its own accord rather than you attempting to pull it out.
http://cdn4.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Galaxy-Note-Edge-5-1280x960-635x476.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Galaxy-Note-Edge-5-1280x960.jpg)

Galaxy Note 5 Expected To Use Reverse Polarization To Automatically Eject the S Pen According to Sam Mobile (http://www.sammobile.com/2015/06/08/s-pen-auto-eject-feature-reportedly-making-its-way-to-the-galaxy-note-5/), Samsung has already filed the patent that will be incorporated inside Galaxy Note 5. The source states that the S Pen and smartphone will both feature a magnet, which will allow the stylus to be held in position firmly. In order to eject the accessory automatically, it is possible that Samsung will employ the use of reverse polarization, which will push the S Pen out of its housing without any effort.

In order to make the function of S Pen come to fruition, users could use a hand gesture, voice command or a button function in order to release it. Using any one of the aforementioned techniques, the pen will automatically be ejected from it, and allow the user to perform a boatload of functions, which we expect should obscure the capabilities of Galaxy Note 4 (http://wccftech.com/galaxy-s6-vs-iphone-6-vs-htc-one-m9-camera-comparison/).
http://cdn2.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Samsung-Galaxy-Note-Auto-Eject-S-pen-patent-377x700.png (http://cdn2.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Samsung-Galaxy-Note-Auto-Eject-S-pen-patent-377x700.png)
Currently, that is all the information available concerning the stylus and its auto-eject function. It is highly likely that we will find out more about this function in the coming weeks. Samsung is also gearing up to release a large screen version of its Galaxy S6 Edge, which has been named Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, and will be announced in August (http://wccftech.com/5-7-inch-galaxy-s6-edge-expected-in-august/). That timeline is exactly one month before the expected announcement of Galaxy Note 5. Whatever goes down in the coming months, we will definitely keep you updated on the latest.

Galaxy Note 5 to Feature USB Type-C, Thinner Form Factor and Huge Battery

We have finally come so close to the launch of the iPhone 6s (http://wccftech.com/iphone-6s-plus-will-feature-2k-display/) duo and Samsung’s beloved Note 5 (http://wccftech.com/galaxy-note-5-edge-and-galaxy-note-5-specs-list-leaked/) smartphones. It may still be more than a couple of months to the actual release date, but we are certainly entering into that pre-release rumor-quarter. Expect the onslaught of leaks, rumors and analysts’ predictions as we inch towards September. Today comes another leak surrounding Samsung Galaxy Note 5.
http://cdn4.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Galaxy-Note-Edge-5-1280x960-635x476.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Galaxy-Note-Edge-5-1280x960.jpg)
Galaxy Note 5 features USB Type-C: This latest Galaxy Note 5 rumor claims that the device will feature USB Type-C port (http://wccftech.com/12-inch-macbook-unboxing-video-photos/) making it the first from Samsung to support faster data transfer. Type-C connector is the trendiest feature right now making the connector being able to plug at any side – similar to Apple (http://wccftech.com/download-os-el-capitan-ios-9-wallpaper/)‘s Lightning port.
USB Type-C port is also famous for allowing streaming of 4K videos smoothly and of course, the fast charging capabilities are a no hidden secret. Type-C offers 10 Gbps transfer rate which is double of the usual USB 3.0 port. Data transfers and charging both get super fast with the port making it one of the most wanted feature of the year.

While Samsung Galaxy Note 5 feature might not include a 4K display – as many have alleged – the device is certainly going to get fast UFS 2.0 internal storage technology that debuted with the popular Samsung Galaxy S6 duo earlier this year. Here are some of the rumored Note 5 features:

Codenamed Project Noble
Featuring a 5.9-inch 2K or 4K Super AMOLED flat display
Thinner 7.9mm frame
USB Type-C port
Octa core, Exynos 7422 (http://wccftech.com/exynos-7422-soc-rumored-present-galaxy-note-5/) processing chip
Auto-Eject S Pen
4,100 mAh battery

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is expected to be released in September with Samsung Pay as was confirmed by Sammy executive. The launch will happen in Berlin at IFA 2015.

Galaxy Note 5 to be Released with Galaxy S6 Plus – No Note Edge This Year

Samsung introduced curves to the tech world with its Samsung Galaxy (http://wccftech.com/samsung-and-apple-working-on-dual-lens-camera/) Note Edge last year. It was followed with an dual-curved Galaxy S6 Edge which instantly became a favorite of many tech enthusiasts. Samsung was now expected to launch Galaxy Note 5 and Note 5 Edge keeping the tradition going. Seems like that’s not exactly what Sammy has planned.
http://cdn4.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Galaxy-Note-Edge-5-1280x960-635x476.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Galaxy-Note-Edge-5-1280x960.jpg)
No “Edge” variant for Galaxy Note 5: We have seen plenty of rumors time and again about a Plus version of the Galaxy S6 Edge (http://wccftech.com/root-g925fxxu2bofj-android-5-1-1-galaxy-s6-edge/). Rumors claim that Samsung will release this product before the launch of Note 5 at IFA. Today’s report claims that Samsung will not be releasing a Galaxy Note 5 Edge this year but would keep the Galaxy S6 Plus as its partner. This definitely sounds in line with earlier rumors of Galaxy S6 Plus (http://wccftech.com/galaxy-s6-edge-plus-images-and-video/) which sounded as a device fitting nowhere between different products. However, it has started to look as if Samsung is treating the Plus version of S6 as a phablet device. While we haven’t seen any rumor around the stylus for this phone, Sammy might decide to include the signature S Pen with Galaxy S6 Plus as well.

This latest rumor comes from a Chinese site (http://cq.qq.com/a/20150623/011430.htm) that has aggregated its rumors from Eastern media sources. It confirms, citing various sources, that Note 5 will be given all the prominence this year with an expected release of dual-curved Galaxy S6 Plus alongside it. It seems logical from Samsung’s point of view as Note Edge didn’t do well in sales. Galaxy S6 Edge, however, was taken with much love and appreciation by the consumers. Keeping the dual curves of S6 Edge and increasing the size, Samsung will ensure that consumers get two high-end phablets with tested shapes and sizes.
It is still unknown if Samsung would just keep the curves of Galaxy S6 (http://wccftech.com/galaxy-s6-vs-iphone-6-camera-battles-continue/) in this Plus Note with no extensive features or add in the functionality that Note Edge had brought in. In our point of view, it would be a strong selling point for Samsung to bring in all the features that Note Edge’s curve had featured adding in a new layer of functionality to the larger smartphone. It is still to be seen if Samsung would be able to drive inspiration in developers for creating edge-specific functionality in their apps.
Samsung Galaxy Note 5 (http://wccftech.com/note-5-features-usb-type-c-huge-battery/) is expected to be released at IFA in September. Rumored Galaxy S6 Plus has seen many reports citing a release date for August before IFA.

Galaxy Note 5 Vs The iPhone 6s: What We Know So Far

There have been several hardware and feature leaks surrounding two of the most anticipated and powerful handsets to be released in the smartphone market; Samsung’s Galaxy Note 5 and Apple’s iPhone 6s. Before these two smartphones are officially launched, let us bring you guys closer to what these mobile computing powerhouses are going to be capable of doing once they set foot in the ever proliferating market. Let us begin.
http://cdn2.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/samsung-galaxy-s6-9349-635x357.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/samsung-galaxy-s6-9349.jpg)
Galaxy Note 5 Vs. iPhone 6s: Chipset Configuration Thanks to Samsung’s 14 nm FinFET, Exynos 7420 present in the Galaxy S6 duo has displayed remarkable performance, even in leaked benchmarking tests against Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 (http://wccftech.com/snapdragon-820-benchmarking/). The performance showcased thanks to Samsung’s superior architecture is probably the reason why Apple tapped the South Korean giant to mass produce the company’s A9 SoC.
Earlier, there was a rumor suggesting that Galaxy Note 5 was going to feature the Exynos 7422. (http://wccftech.com/exynos-7422-soc-rumored-present-galaxy-note-5/) Since Samsung has to raise the performance bar and find a way to beat Apple A9, we expect Exynos 7422 should deliver far better performance compared to Exynos 7420. Just like its predecessors, Apple will most likely incorporate a dual-core processor in the A9 and just like we have seen in the past, software optimizations and tweaks are also responsible for performance enhancements, as Apple likes to keep on reminding us, it is not just a matter of processor cores that make or break performance (Apple iPhone 6 Vs Samsung’s Galaxy Note 4 (http://wccftech.com/iphone-6-samsungs-galaxy-note-4-galaxy-note-edge-ultimate-showdown/)).
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Samsung-Wins-iPhone-6S-Chip-Orders-from-Apple-472235-2.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Samsung-Wins-iPhone-6S-Chip-Orders-from-Apple-472235-2.jpg)
We are confident that Apple A9 will be far more capable than Apple A8X (which as able to thwart NVIDIA Tegra K1 (http://wccftech.com/initial-apple-a8x-gpu-benchmarks-beats-tegra-k1/)) and Samsung will try to do everything in its power to make sure that Galaxy Note 5 takes the crown in the performance category.
Galaxy Note 5 Vs. iPhone 6s: Pixel Count In a previous leak, it was stated that Galaxy Note 5 will exude a 4K resolution (http://wccftech.com/galaxy-note-5-edge-and-galaxy-note-5-specs-list-leaked/). In an effort to raise the bar in other features besides its chipsets, Samsung is expected to increase the total pixel count in its upcoming flagship phablet, since its Galaxy S6 duo already renders the 1440p resolution. As for iPhone 6s, Apple too is expected to increase the pixel count, but its plans do not appear to be as ambitious as Samsung’s. According to some sketchy rumors that go against Apple’s closely held tradition, the company is to incorporate a 1080p display on iPhone 6s (http://wccftech.com/iphone-6s-plus-will-feature-2k-display/) and a 1440p one on its iPhone 6s Plus.
http://cdn4.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/aw.png (http://cdn4.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/aw.png)
While both handsets are expected to feature impressive processors, we cannot help but wonder that Galaxy Note 5 twill be left behind in the benchmarking results thanks to its UHD resolution. Not only will 4K have an adverse effect of battery life, but it will also require additional firepower when benchmarking tests are being conducted. This is where iPhone 6s will be able to gain the upper hand. Since 1080p is a mainstream resolution that even mid-ranged smartphones possess, you can expect this iPhone to strike hard and obtain impressive results. Let us hope Samsung knows what it’s doing by cramming a large number of pixels in a small screen.
Galaxy Note 5 Vs. iPhone 6s: Screen Size Just like its iPhone 6 duo, Apple plans on maintaining the same screen sizes for its upcoming handset duo (iPhone 6s to feature a 4.7 inch screen size while iPhone 6s Plus will feature a 5.5 inch one), which should be expected, given Cupertino’s propensity to combat change. Samsung, on the other hand, believes in the popular adage ‘Bigger is Better’, and abides by it religiously.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Samsung-Galaxy-S6-review-34-635x357.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Samsung-Galaxy-S6-review-34.jpg)
That being said, we can expect a 5.9 inch screen present on the Galaxy Note 5, which is going to be about 0.2 inches larger compared to Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Note 4.
Galaxy Note 5 Vs. iPhone 6s: RAM Count Seeing as how Galaxy S6 is armed with 3 GB of RAM, we should expect no less than 4 GB of LPDDR4 RAM present in Galaxy Note 5. As for the upcoming iPhone 6s, the latest rumor suggested that 2 GB of LPDDR4 RAM (http://wccftech.com/iphone-6s-features-2gb-ram-force-touch-dual-led-flash/) will be present underneath the hood of the device, which should provide sufficient performance as far as multitasking and gaming is concerned.

http://cdn3.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/terabyte-ram-smartphone-635x277.jpg (http://cdn2.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/terabyte-ram-smartphone.jpg)
Those that consider 2 GB of RAM far too low for a high-end device like iPhone 6s should take a stroll down memory lane and see how a dual-core processor present in Apple’s mobile gadgets are able to make short work of those that feature twice the amount of RAM and processor cores. Like always, half the magic comes from an optimized mobile platform.
Galaxy Note 5 Vs. iPhone 6s: Camera Resolutions While there is no information on the rear and front camera resolutions that Galaxy Note 5 will be sporting, we do know that Apple is going to be implementing a very significant upgrade as far as the rear camera sensor on iPhone 6s is taken in to account. According to the latest report, iPhone 6s is expected to sport a 12 MP Sony RGBW Sensor (http://wccftech.com/iphone-6s-sony-camera-sensor/).
The sensor will help the device capture better images in low light scenarios as it ends up reducing overall image noise, allowing for better quality images. What’s more is that if we consider it in light of earlier news that the iPhone 6s will be employing smaller pixels, then it could end up compensating for loss of quality in low light scenarios, which is a result of pixel size decrease.
http://cdn2.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Camera-Sensor-Flickr.jpg (http://cdn2.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Camera-Sensor-Flickr.jpg)
Coming to Galaxy Note 5, we expect the upcoming phablet to be armed with a rear sensor that has an image capturing resolution exceeding 16 MP (present on Galaxy S6). Unfortunately, there is no other information regarding this front, so unless more leaks become available, we cannot comment on this particular specification.
Galaxy Note 5 Vs. iPhone 6s: Operating Systems Not only are the Galaxy Note 5 and iPhone 6s going to feature the best of what mobile computing components have to offer, but both devices could also be running the latest mobile operating systems when they officially make their way to retailers and market shelves. As you all know, Galaxy Note 5 is going to be running Android M (http://wccftech.com/android-m-vs-android-lollipop-comparison/), while iOS 9 will be running on iPhone 6s (http://wccftech.com/android-m-vs-android-lollipop-comparison/). In order to make update downloading processes simpler, iPhone 6s will no longer be shipping out in 16 GB as the base capacity models. Instead, the base storage has been upgraded to 32 GB.
http://cdn3.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/adadadadadadad-635x324.png (http://cdn2.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/adadadadadadad.png)
Samsung Galaxy Note 5 will most likely feature a MicroSD card slot, where users will be able to upgrade their existing storage up to 256 GB. Let us hope that the company does not use the same approach as it did with its Galaxy S6 duo, which are currently void of an expandable storage.
Galaxy Note 5 Vs. iPhone 6s: Release Dates It is expected that Galaxy Note 5 and iPhone 6s are both going to be showcased during the month of September. There was an earlier rumor which stated that iPhone 6s is slated for a September 8 release (http://wccftech.com/latest-leak-suggests-september-8-release-date-of-iphone-6s/), but looks like we can only confirm this when the aforementioned date approaches. For now, we will just stick to the month of September.
Furthermore, both devices being released during the month of September will also allow critics to setup a proper comparison chart between both smartphones instead of having to wait a millennia to compare Galaxy Note 5 and iPhone 6s.
Well there you have it folks; all the necessary information that you needed to know before the imminent release of the Galaxy Note 5 and iPhone 6s. The two biggest smartphone giants in the industry will be battling it out with their flagship offerings to see which one will be crowed the 2015’s top smartphone. Are you guys excited for the release? Do you feel that we missed out any detail? Do let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

Galaxy Note 5 Will Feature A ‘Write To PDF’ Function

We are just two months away from the monumental release of Samsung’s upcoming flagship phablet, Galaxy Note 5. The handset, which is said to feature a 4K display (http://wccftech.com/galaxy-note-5-uhd-resolution-2160p-pure-goodness/), and is expected to be powered by an Exynos 7422 SoC (http://wccftech.com/exynos-7422-soc-rumored-present-galaxy-note-5/), will also possess another feature, which is being referred to as ‘write to PDF’. Samsung had requested the feature in the form of a patent, and it appears to be a very handy one, particularly for those who carry out important tasks on their handsets.
Recommended: Galaxy Note 5 Vs The iPhone 6s: What We Know So Far (http://wccftech.com/galaxy-note-5-vs-iphone-6s/) http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Galaxy-Note-5.png (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Galaxy-Note-5.png)
Galaxy Note 5 And Its ‘Write To PDF’ Feature Can Be Executed With Both Fingertips And The Bundled Stylus According to Galaxyclub (http://www.galaxyclub.nl/2015/07/samsung-galaxy-note-5-krijgt-write-on-pdf-feature/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter), Samsung had requested a patent to be filed in a United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The application was filed on June 30, 2015, with the details of the feature are stated below:

“Computer application software for mobile phones, smart phones, tablet computers, portable media players and handheld computers enabling users to annotate and save PDF documents, images and files.”
For all those who have been in possession of a Galaxy Note smartphone, they do not need to be debriefed on one of the most popular features present in the large screen smartphones. ‘Write on PDF’ is going to be a completely new feature. While we have yet to see what the function will be capable of, our guess is that it will most likely allow you to write on the screen directly, without going through the tedious process of taking a screenshot or activating the ‘Screen Write’ function to do so.

Additionally, this function might also allow an extended amount of freedom, granting users the ability to actually write on PDF files. While that is all the info that we could gather, we are confident that more details will be made available once the device makes its way to the market. Samsung had earlier upgraded its Galaxy Note 3 with Smart Select, which is a feature that allows you to ’clipboard’ texts and images simultaneously.
While Samsung has been criticized for its TouchWiz interface, the company has come a long way in improving, providing the company’s loyal consumers have another reason to rant on why the South Korean tech giant always produces the best products, not just at the hardware level, but software too.
Once we get more details concerning the feature, we will update you accordingly.

Is That An External SIM Slot? Leaked Galaxy Note 5 Schematics Paint Good Picture

With September fast approaching, seems like flagship devices from the industry;s top manufacturers are in a rush to be leaked and provide us with their specifications. After we’ve seen numerous leaks about the iPhone 6S Duo, Samsung doesn’t want to disappoint us either as the Galaxy Note 5 becomes the feature of yet another leaked today. Samsung’s upgrade for the popular Note series has been in the news for quite a while now, and today we get to learn more details about it.
http://cdn2.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Galaxy-Note-5-schematics-and-concept-renders-635x393.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Galaxy-Note-5-schematics-and-concept-renders.jpg)
Samsung’s Galaxy Note 5 Becomes Feature Of Several Leaks Showcasing Design Details Courtesy of Onleaks (https://twitter.com/OnLeaks), who has been quite active over the past couple of days, whether it be the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus or the Galaxy Note 5, we get to take a look at what the notorious leaker from France claims are some blueprints of the Galaxy Note 5. The left side of the device, as can be seen in the image above features the volume up and down buttons, coupled with a SIM card slot. The protruding camera, coupled with the sleep/wake button is also visible in the drawings, complete with a flash on the device’s rear,, as can be seen below.

The bottom of the device is equipped with two rows of speakers, a USB connector port and a headphone jack. Unless Samsung chooses to do something amazing with the device’s speakers, the Note 5 can be expected to have slightly above than average audio performance. If you’re not interested in the just the technical details, and would rather prefer your devices looking more realistic, don’t worry, we’ve got you covered there as well. HDBlog has produced some renders of the Galaxy Note 5, which starkly resemble the sets of images released today by Onleaks, with the only difference being that they look more realistic. So enjoy the renders below and let us know what you think in the comments section below.

Samsung’s Looking For Premium Builds With Note 5 Not Coming With MicroSD

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 5 has seen almost every aspect about its details leak so far. We’ve seen performance specifications, renders, cases and more leak related to Samsung’s upcoming flagship and today, more details have caught our eye. The device is rumored to be launched by the end of July by Samsung, with the Korean manufacturer allegedly looking to gain a good momentum before Apple’s annual iPhone upgrade, expected in September.
http://cdn4.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Galaxy-Note-5-schematics-and-concept-renders15-635x294.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Galaxy-Note-5-schematics-and-concept-renders15.jpg)
Samsung’s Galaxy Note 5 Edge To Completely Skip Out On MicroSD Port After a decrease in share prices and market share last year, that seemed to have caused quite a scare for investors and management of Samsung’s mobile division, the Korean electronics giant has seem a major turn around in the manner it approaches devices. The launch of the Galaxy S6 Duo this year, preceded by the Note 4 Edge and the Galaxy Alpha series last year showcased a change in the way Samsung has started to look at its mobile devices. And now fresh rumors surrounding the Galaxy Galaxy Note 5 indicate a solidification of this trend.

Folks over at Sammobile (http://www.sammobile.com/2015/07/07/expecting-the-galaxy-note-5-to-have-a-microsd-slot-dont/), known for their well placed insider sources now claim that Samsung’s looking to go completely metal when it comes to the Note 5 Edge this year. After renders of the device surfaced earlier that showed off a unibody metal design, today’s news claims that Samsung’s looking to do away with an external MicroSD slot on its upcoming phablet as well. The Galaxy S6 Duo eliminated external storage on Samsung’s flagships for the first time, and the Korean tech giant, like Apple, is allegedly looking towards metal unibodies and minimum thickness on its devices.

Not only this, but Samsung’s UFC Storage delivers twice the speed when compared to traditional eMMC 5.0. Not only will a Micro SD be highly misplaced with UFC, but it’ll also offer different data speeds as well. This, combined with the design benefits that a metal unibody offers, might just make Samsung choose to do away with the feature completely on the Note 5. We’ll know more in the coming days. Till then, stay tuned and let us know what you think in the comments section below.

Watch Out Apple; Samsung Is Said To Launch The Note 5 In Mid-August

We’ve been hearing quite a lot about Samsung’s Galaxy Note 5 over the past couple of days, with the Korean manufacturer expected to launch the device later this year. The Note series has generally seen an upgrade at the annual IFA show held in Germany, which takes place in September every year. But, like we see every year, once more some sources have started to speculate that the Note 5 might actually be coming earlier this year.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Galaxy-Note-5-schematics-and-concept-renders1-635x393.jpg (http://cdn2.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Galaxy-Note-5-schematics-and-concept-renders1.jpg)
Samsung Said To Be Moving Galaxy Note 5 Launch Date To August This time, its the Wall Street Journal which claims to have some information about Samsung’s plans for the Galaxy Note 5 this year. According to the Journal (http://www.wsj.com/articles/samsung-aims-to-pip-apple-to-the-post-with-earlier-launch-1436511139), the Korean manufacturer is looking to expedite the Note 5’s launch schedule, for reasons that we all know quite well now. Apple’s launch of the iPhone 6 Plus last year was a game changer, since the Cupertino manufacturer had not brought its unique device formula to larger screened devices. But with the iPhone 6 Plus, things changed and the market responded very favorably indeed.

In fact, Apple is so much confident in its device reception that its already placed orders for a record number of iPhones from its manufacturing partners. All of this has perhaps gotten folks over at Samsung a tad bit nervous, if the Journal’s reports today are correct. Samsung’s now looking to launch the Galaxy Note 5 in August this year, so that it will have a better chance against the refreshed iPhone 6 Plus launch expected to take place in September.
An early Galaxy Note 5 launch will do wonders for the device’s fans, as they’ll be able to enjoy all of its latest features, including an all in one Exynos 7422 SoC, which combines all the components of a device’s hardware in one single, compact package. It should also help Samsung gain a stronger foothold in the mobile hardware industry as well. Sounds interesting, but nothing’s for sure until Samsung officially sends out invites for its event. Stay tuned and let us know what you think in the comments section below.

Galaxy Note 5 Has Been Confirmed With 4 GB RAM

While this was always on the cards, Samsung’s upcoming flagship phablet Galaxy Note 5 has been confirmed to be sporting 4 GB RAM, which is a whole gigabyte compared to the amount that is present on all variants of Galaxy S6. In addition to featuring 4 GB of RAM, it is also expected that the upcoming mobile powerhouse is going to feature the company’s homegrown Exynos 7422 SoC (http://wccftech.com/exynos-7422-soc-rumored-present-galaxy-note-5/), which will most likely feature an octa-core processor running at higher frequencies compared to the processor present in Exynos 7420.

4 GB RAM Present In Galaxy Note 5 Will Be Running At DD4 Speeds According to the latest report (http://www.sammobile.com/2015/07/13/exclusive-samsung-galaxy-note-5-confirmed-with-4gb-ram/), Galaxy Note 5 will have 4 GB of RAM running at DDR4 speeds. In order to remind you, this is the same type of RAM that is going to be present in OnePlus 2 (http://wccftech.com/oneplus-2-will-not-be-a-popular-smartphone/). Additionally, it is also expected that Galaxy Note 5 will be sporting a 5.67 Super AMOLED display that is going to be rendering the QHD display (1440p). While there were earlier reports stating the handset was going to feature a 4K resolution (http://wccftech.com/latest-galaxy-note-5-leak-states-smartphone-feature-behemoth-screen-size-59-inches-4k-resolution-beefy-4100-mah-battery-usb-typec-port/), it appears that Samsung has finally come to its senses.
The phablet sized smartphone is expected to feature a Type-C USB port, along with a beefy battery pack that will possess a capacity of 4,100 mAh. The smartphone is also going to be the first out of the Galaxy Note lineup that will feature a ‘Write to PDF’ function (http://wccftech.com/galaxy-note-5-feature-write-pdf-function/). Coming back to the internals of the upcoming device, Galaxy Note 5 is also expected to feature the company’s first ever true single-chip solution (ePOP).

This solution will be combining all of the components, which includes the octa-core 64-bit CPU, GPU, RAM, storage, and the Shannon 333 LTE modem on to the same package, which will be really interesting to view after the smartphone gets torn down. Additionally, like all previous Galaxy Note handsets, Galaxy Note 5 will be featuring an S Pen, but with a unique feature, where the stylus will automatically pop out of its housing (http://wccftech.com/autoeject-pen-function-present-galaxy-note-5/) when a command or sensor has been executed by the user.
While there are no pricing details currently available, it is expected that Galaxy Note 5 is going to be officially announced during the month of August. We can’t tell you how excited we are to see how it performs in benchmarking tests, but unfortunately, this is all the news that we have at this current time. Like always, we will keep you updated with what will be coming next.

Expedited Note 5 Launch With 5 MP Front Camera On The Cards – With The S6 Edge Plus

Things have definitely started to get interesting in Samsung’s Galaxy Note 5 territory. After being done with its flagship smartphone launches for the year 2015, the Korean electronics giant should now have all its attention focused towards its premium phablet category. The Galaxy Note 5 has been the feature of countless leaks, rumors and speculations so far, and today we add two more to the mix. Not only has word of an expedited Note 5 release started to become more frequent, but we’ve now started to hear some word about its front camera as well.
http://cdn4.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/galaxy-note-5-635x378.png (http://cdn3.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/galaxy-note-5.png)
Samsung’s Galaxy Note 5 To Get 5 MP Front Camera Coupled With An August Launch Date Starting from its front camera, folks over at techtastic.nl (http://www.techtastic.nl/samsung/samsung-galaxy-note-5/) have made a rather interesting discovery today. While digging around the HTML file for the Galaxy S6’s support page, the front camera on the device apparently appears to support more devices than just the S6. As you can see in the snapshot above, support for two more devices, with internal codenames N925 and N920F. These have been said to represent Samsung’s internal language for the Galaxy Note 5 so things do seem to be pointing towards an increasing front camera resolution for Samsung’s phablet.

We also saw the Wall Street Journal report earlier that Samsung’s going to bring the Note 5’s launch ahead of the IFA this year, in order to better counter the iPhone 6 Plus. However, Samsung’s very own JK Shin was quick to counter this piece of information, which left little doubt in the minds of any one. But, sources (http://www.koreaherald.com/view.php?ud=20150713000870) have started to speak up again, and this time word on the street is that Samsung’s looking to launch both the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, its larger screen variant of this year’s Galaxy S6 Edge and the Galaxy Note 5, in August. If these sources turn out to be correct, which sounds unlikely given such a strong reply from Samsung, then users might have more than one Samsung device to choose from in less than a month.
Both the devices are expected to come in the same screen size category, and have little differences between them except the usual processor and design details. While Samsung users might be in for a good bit of luck, as the Korean manufacturer launching two very high end devices at the same time will help its popularity, the question of both of them performing equally well simultaneously still remains. Our bet is that the Galaxy Note 5 will end up largely outperforming the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, given that its the next in line for the Note series and that it features Samsung’s very own, one of a kind processing chip. Thoughts? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.

Your Next Samsung Smartphone Might Feature Near Invisible Controls

Samsung keeps raising the bar with each and every of its released handsets. With Galaxy Note 5 about to be released, the handset will feature an Exynos 7422 SoC (http://wccftech.com/exynos-7422-soc-rumored-present-galaxy-note-5/) coupled with 4 GB of LPDD4 RAM (http://wccftech.com/galaxy-note-5-confirmed-4-gb-ram/). The South Korean tech giant has also filed a patent application that was recently published recently by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. In short, this patent describes that the company’s future mobile devices will either have transparent or invisible buttons, which the company is referring to as sensor pads.
Recommended: Galaxy Note 5 Vs The iPhone 6s: What We Know So Far (http://wccftech.com/galaxy-note-5-vs-iphone-6s/) http://cdn4.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/ir1pHOpzXgPw-635x413.jpeg (http://cdn4.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/ir1pHOpzXgPw.jpeg)
The New Patent From Samsung Will Allow Users To Configure These Buttons In Any Way To Carry Out Different Tasks According to patentlyapple (http://www.patentlyapple.com/patently-apple/2015/07/samsung-invents-near-invisible-controls-for-mobile-devices.html), the new patent filed by Samsung will allow users to configure these buttons at their accord in order to fire up any application or complete a task that is considered most paramount to the user. For example, if the smartphone happens to be configured in portrait mode, then a simple tap of a button will allow users to change the camera button for selfie taking purposes.
In this way, individuals will not have to press just a single button (which we might add is not conveniently located to perform such tasks) and will be able to complete this task using their own configured buttons. This will be helpful to both right and left handed users. Additionally, since mobile gaming applications also have pre-configured buttons placed on the screen to perform a variety of functions, the new patent will allow users to set their own gaming controls for a comforting mobile gaming experience.

Samsung had filed the patent back in January 2015, and it just got published recently. Neither Samsung, nor the source has disclosed if this particular tech will be showing up in future smartphone or tablets, but since the company’s forte lies in making such handsets, we are confident that we will be looking at such features in future mobile devices.

Galaxy Note 5 Reported To Launch On August 12; Alongside Galaxy S6 Edge Plus

Looks like Galaxy Note 5 will be coming to us much sooner than expected. According to Korean media reports, both Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus are going to be unveiled on the same date, which will definitely give Apple something to think about when the tech giant starts rolling out its iPhone 6s duo. That’s not all. The flagship phablet is also going to be available to purchase just nine days after it gets officially launched. That’s right folks; Galaxy Note 5 will be available to purchase from August 21, so start saving up as much as you can, otherwise you will not be able to experience the next level of performance from a mobile computing device.

Galaxy Note 5 Will Be Sporting 4 GB Of RAM, Along With An Exynos 7422 SoC According to the latest reports (http://www.sammobile.com/2015/07/14/exclusive-galaxy-note-5-and-galaxy-s6-edge-coming-august-12-on-sale-from-august-21/), Samsung’s Galaxy Note 5 is going to feature 4 GB of LPDDR4 RAM (http://wccftech.com/galaxy-note-5-confirmed-4-gb-ram/) coupled with an Exynos 7422 SoC (http://wccftech.com/exynos-7422-soc-rumored-present-galaxy-note-5/). While we know that Galaxy Note 5 will be launching alongside Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, it can be considered to be a very risky move on the company’s part since the launching of both handsets might end up eating the sales of the other smartphone.
After both devices have been officially launched, they will also be accompanied by the official launch of Samsung Pay, which is expected to be branched out to the US market, and then the remainder of the regions. The remaining features that will be present on the phablet sized smartphone will be a 2K display, which is going to be rendered on a 5.67 inch screen size. There were earlier reports stating that Galaxy Note 5 would be incorporated with a 4K display (http://wccftech.com/latest-galaxy-note-5-leak-states-smartphone-feature-behemoth-screen-size-59-inches-4k-resolution-beefy-4100-mah-battery-usb-typec-port/), but thankfully, Samsung does care about the battery life of its handsets.

Moving on, the handset is also expected to feature a Type-C USB port, but there are speculations that Galaxy Note 5 will not be featuring a MicroSD slot. Samsung plans on going with the same approach as it did with its Galaxy S6 duo, which is terrible idea in our opinion, since it will most likely effect the overall sales figure for the company.
However, the handset will be offered in several color schemes, which are as follows:

Silver
Gold
Black
White

While we already know the availability details, pricing information still elude us, which we are sure will be available at the aforementioned date. Are you guys excited about the imminent launch of Galaxy Note 5? Tell us right away.

It won’t be too long until we get to take a final look at the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 since Samsung’s been rumored by several quarters now to set a launch date of August 12 for the Galaxy Note 4. The device is also rumored to be coming with 4GB of RAM on board, coupled with a one of a kind Exynos 7422 SoC under the hood, which should prove sufficient for most users.
As can be seen above, the cases come with five color options, to cover a variety of tastes. Samsung’s Galaxy Note 5 is expected to further boost the manufacturer’s strong start for 2015 with the launch of the Galaxy S6 Duo earlier this year. Samsung’s also expected to launch a Galaxy S6 Edge Plus in the coming months, which will most likely be featuring Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 808 on board, patching things up between the US chipmaking giant and the Korean electronics manufacturer. All in all, a good couple of months are in store for Samsung fans all around and we’ll be updating you as things develop. Stay tuned and let us know what you think in the comments section below.

A Very Dull Looking First Testbed Of The Galaxy Note 5 Has Leaked

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 5 should be with us soon, in less than a month. And as has the trend started with mobile devices over the past couple of days, we’ve seen nearly every aspect of the device leak with several bits of information surfacing sporadically. We’ve got more to add today as well, as apart from the case renders and leaked dummy models that we’ve seen earlier, today a test variant of the Galaxy Note 5 has also been spotted.
http://cdn3.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Galaxy-Note-5-allegedly-testbed-pops-up.jpg (http://cdn3.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Galaxy-Note-5-allegedly-testbed-pops-up.jpg)
Samsung’s Galaxy Note 5 Surfaces In Testbed Today For First Time Before you start to give up hope on the Galaxy Note 5 completely by looking at the image (http://samsungmania.mobilmania.cz/bleskovky/exkluzivne-prvni-ziva-fotografie-samsungu-galaxy-note-5-v-cr/sc-310-a-1331376/default.aspx) above, keep in mind that the image merely represents a testbed of the device, rather than the actual Galaxy Note 5. Given that we’re so far ahead into the Galaxy Note 5’s alleged launch period, Samsung should be eager to iron out any nooks and crannies on the device, and the Korean manufacturer seems to be doing just that.

We wouldn’t expect the Note 5 to come looking anything like the device in the image above, if Samsung wants to keep any shred of respectability in the smartphone world. Rather, the Galaxy Note 5 is expect to follow a thin form factor, not feature any removable internal components and come with a complete metal package as was the case with the Galaxy S6 Duo launched earlier this year.
Hardware wise, Samsung’s Galaxy Note 5 is expected to come with 4 GB of RAM, the Exynos 7422 and a 5MP front camera, which will be the same sensor employed by the manufacturer on its flagship smartphones. Aside from the Galaxy Note 5, the Korean electronics giant is also expected to launch the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 808 on board. Some interesting times are up ahead indeed. Stay tuned and let us know what you think in the comments section below.

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 launch date revealed (http://www.kitguru.net/laptops/mobile/matthew-wilson/samsung-galaxy-note-5-launch-date-revealed/)

Last week we learned that Samsung may be looking to beat Apple to the punch by launching its upcoming Galaxy Note 5 phablet ahead of schedule in August, rather than September. Now new reports have tipped us off with the launch date for Samsung’s new phone, alongside the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus.
According to reports from Korean Media outlets, Samsung is set to hold an event for the Galaxy Note 5 on the 13th of August. The event is set to take place in New York and will bring us both the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus.
http://www.kitguru.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Samsung-Galaxy-Note-4-e14080185302071.jpg (http://www.kitguru.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Samsung-Galaxy-Note-4-e14080185302071.jpg)
According to Business Korea, (http://www.businesskorea.co.kr/article/11485/ahead-schedule-samsung-release-galaxy-note-5-one-month-ahead-schedule) Samsung’s re-scheduled Galaxy Note 5 launch is all in an attempt to beat Apple to the market, as the Cupertino based company has found great success over the last year with its 5.5 inch iPhone 6 Plus.
As far as specs go, the Galaxy Note 5 is set to feature a 5.7 inch 1440p display and an eight core Exynos processor alongside 4GB of RAM, the S Pen and a 16 megapixel rear facing camera. The Galaxy S6 Edge Plus on the other hand will pretty much be exactly the same spec-wise.

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 From Verizon Gets Benched; Exynos 7420 And 4 GB RAM Present

While earlier reports indicate that Galaxy Note 5 was going to sport an Exynos 7422 SoC (http://wccftech.com/exynos-7422-soc-rumored-present-galaxy-note-5/), the latest benchmarking results reveal that the upcoming flagship phablet is going to sport the same SoC that is present in the Galaxy S6 family, Exynos 7420. While this is disappointing to see, all hope cannot be lost at this current time. Perhaps the chipset will be running the octa-core processor at a much higher clock speed as compared to the quad-core processors running inside Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.

Galaxy Note 5 Benching Charts Show That The Handset Is Also Running 4 GB Of RAMAccording to geekbench (http://browser.primatelabs.com/geekbench3/3035363), Verizon carrier running Galaxy Note 5 possesses the model name SM-N920V and according to the image details (image posted below), the handset is going to be running Exynos 7420 coupled with 4 GB of RAM. We expect that the 4 GB stacked inside the upcoming smartphone is going to be running at LPDDR4 speeds (http://wccftech.com/galaxy-note-5-confirmed-4-gb-ram/). The benchmarking results show that the smartphone obtains the following score:

1418 points (Single-Core)
4399 points (Multi-Core)

These are the same scores that Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge were able to obtain which means that our earlier hope of Exynos 7420 featuring a higher clocked octa-core processor has dwindled completely. Well, at least we have the Type-C USB connector and a large battery pack (http://wccftech.com/latest-galaxy-note-5-leak-states-smartphone-feature-behemoth-screen-size-59-inches-4k-resolution-beefy-4100-mah-battery-usb-typec-port/) to look forward to. For the first time ever, Galaxy Note 5 is also going to be the first smartphone from the lineup to feature a ‘Write To PDF’ function (http://wccftech.com/galaxy-note-5-feature-write-pdf-function/). We are going to get to know more about this function when the device makes its way during the month of August.

There is also a possibility that Samsung might have learned its lesson from not incorporating a MicroSD slot and actually assimilates one to its Galaxy Note 5. Like always, we will have more updates for you in the foreseeable future so stay tuned. As for the hardware specifications of Galaxy Note 5, are you guys impressed or are you let down by the company? The Note 5 To Be 6mm Thick – Massive Render Leak Details Nearly Every Feature

Wondering about how the Galaxy Note 5 could end up looking like? Samsung’s upcoming phablet has been the center of mobile news for the past couple of months and rightly so. The annual Galaxy Note upgrade from the Korean electronics manufacturer is seeing several interesting twists this time, starting from oft repeated claims of an earlier launch. This is also coupled with a one of a kind processor which should help Samsung reduce it’s thickness even more. But today’s post is about the Note 5’s design, as it sees coverage from every angle courtesy of some new case renders.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Galaxy-Note-5-case-images-635x635.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Galaxy-Note-5-case-images.jpg)
Samsung’s Galaxy Note 5 Leaks In Some Of Its Best Looking Renders To DateAs we’ve been telling you for quite a while now, case manufacturers often get the best inside scoop on upcoming devices owing to the need of manufacturing and designing their offerings earlier on. And just as has been the case (no pun intended) already, some more images of the Galaxy Note 5 in case renders have surfaced (http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/blog/2015/07/galaxy-note-5-case-photos-reveal-dimensions-missing-features/) today, but they’re some of the best looking device renders that we have seen so far.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Galaxy-Note-5-case-images1-635x594.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Galaxy-Note-5-case-images1.jpg)

As you can see in the image above, this year’s Galaxy Note will come with a remarkably thin form factor. Samsung’s 2015 flagship phablet has been rumored to come with an all metal design this time given the launch of the Galaxy S6 flagship duo earlier this year, and this ends up giving it a much needed top of the line, premium look. Aside from the thinner form factor, the days of removing and replacing your battery on the Note also now seem to be a thing of the past. On the bottom of the device, you’ll be getting a headphone jack, a stylus bay, a usb port and speakers, while the volume buttons make it on the left and the sleep/wake button makes it on the right.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Galaxy-Note-5-case-images2-635x635.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Galaxy-Note-5-case-images2.jpg)If we’re correct, then what appears to be a SIM card slot has made it on the top of the device as well. The rear of the device features no changes this time, with the regular camera lens and flash being in place. But all in all, if these renders are correct, then the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 will be one impressive device indeed, when it comes to its overall form factor and design. Rearth’s case images also inadvertently manages to highlight the Note 5’s thickness, which if the measurements in the image below are correct, would turn out to be 6.33 mm, making the Galaxy Note 5 an incredibly thin device.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Galaxy-Note-5-case-images3-635x537.jpg

http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Galaxy-Note-5-case-images5-635x635.jpg

http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Galaxy-Note-5-case-images4-635x422.jpg

And if Samsung manages to keep it heavy on the specifications end as well, then it should see a very favorable market response. Stay tuned, and let us know what you think in the comments section below.

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 to feature 8-core processor, 4GB of RAM

Thanks to a leaked benchmark, we now know that Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Note 5 will feature an 8-core processor and 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM. Samsung will be using its own octo-core Exynos 7420 SoC inside of the Galaxy Note 5.

image: http://imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/4/6/46606_02_samsung-galaxy-note-5-feature-8-core-processor-4gb-ram.png (http://www.tweaktown.com/image.php?image=imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/4/6/46606_02_samsung-galaxy-note-5-feature-8-core-processor-4gb-ram_full.png)
http://imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/4/6/46606_02_samsung-galaxy-note-5-feature-8-core-processor-4gb-ram.png

The Geekbench result was used on a Verizon-powered Galaxy Note 5, with the model name of 'SM-N920V'. The benchmark has the Galaxy Note 5 has a single-core result of 1418, while the multi-core result was 4399. These scores are very similar to that of the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge, so we should expect the same performance on the Galaxy Note 5 that we had in the S6 and S6 edge.

Samsung is expected to unveil its new Galaxy Note 5 next month, with rumors pointing to August 12 (http://www.tweaktown.com/news/46446/samsung-reportedly-eyeing-down-august-12-date-galaxy-note-5-launch/index.html). The Galaxy Note 5 should feature a 5.67-inch 1440p Super AMOLED display (http://www.tweaktown.com/news/46393/samsung-rumored-launch-galaxy-note-5-early-beat-new-iphone/index.html), the aforementioned 8-core processor, 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM and Samsung's new Shannon 333 LTE modem.

The Galaxy Note 5 In The Flesh; Live Images Leak Of Device In Gold

Its been a good week when we talk about Samsung’s Galaxy Note 5. Samsung’s upcoming flagship phablet has seen nearly every feature pop up when it comes to leaks, and today, we have a live image of the device for you. While leaks surrounding the Galaxy Note 5 have been limited mostly to benchmarks, renders and what not so far, images depicting the device in its full glory have rarely hit the rounds. That changes today folks, and you can take a look at the Galaxy Note 5 in none other than gold in the image below.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Samsung-Galaxy-Note-5-will-come-in-gold.png (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Samsung-Galaxy-Note-5-will-come-in-gold.png)
Samsung’s Galaxy Note 5 Has Surfaced – Several Design Details ConfirmedWe’ve seen plenty of leaks surrounding the Galaxy Note 5 so far. Samsung’s upcoming device is said to feature a SIM card slot on the top, coupled with a remarkably thin form factor; and a non removable battery to the dismay of many. But that’s the cost of having a premium metal design for your Galaxy Note, and after the S6 launches, Samsung just doesn’t want to seem to turn back. Oh and talking about premium, the images that have leaked today show the device in gold, which is as good as it gets if you prefer finesse in your devices.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Proto-Samsung-Galaxy-Note5-02-635x847.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Proto-Samsung-Galaxy-Note5-02.jpg)

Courtesy of Steve of NWE (http://www.nowhereelse.fr/galaxy-note5-photos-prototype-108772/), we’ve been able to take a look at several devices before their intended launch date. And as we get to sink into this year’s summer device launch cycle, there seems to be no rest for him either. You’ll be ejecting the Note 5’s S Pen manually for now, contrary to earlier reports that claimed an auto-eject patent being filed by Samsung for these purposes.
The bottom of the device is adorned with a USB port, a speaker grille and a headphone jack just like we told you earlier. When it comes to the processor side of things, we’ve heard a bit of disappointing news lately. While earlier reports claimed that Samsung would be employing the Exynos 7422 on its latest device, which would drive down thickness considerably owing to a compact arrangement of various hardware components, recent reports suggest that the Note 5 will be coming with the good old 14 nm Exynos 7420 on board.
It’ll also be coming with 4 GB of RAM, and camera sensors similar to the Galaxy S6 Duo according to the latest. While earlier reports of a Note 5 Edge have failed to gain any traction so far, the device is coming in August, so its not long until we get to take a final look at what Samsung has to offer in the phablet sphere this year. Rest assured, according to the sound of things so far, the Korean smartphone giant seems to be on the right track so far. Stay tuned and let us know what you think in the comments section below.

The Note 5 And S6 Edge Plus August 13 Unpacked Confirmed ; Here’s Everything You Need To Know On Both So Far

Looks like all that speculation surrounding Samsung’s strategy to try and counter iPhone launches by holding its Galaxy Note and S6 Edge Plus launches earlier was right on target. The Korean manufacturer has just sent out invites for its next Unpacked event, and just like we’ve been telling you, Samsung next big event will be held on August 13th.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Samsung-Galaxy-Unpacked-August-S6-Edge-Plus-Note-5-01-635x427.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Samsung-Galaxy-Unpacked-August-S6-Edge-Plus-Note-5-01.jpg)
Samsung Sends Out Invites For Next Unpacked Event To Be Held On August 13th

Samsung’s invite for its August 13th event, which can be seen above is rather simplistic in nature. If our guess is correct, then the invite above confirms that August 13th should see the launch of the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus by Samsung. The device has been the feature of several news pieces for quite a while now and looks like we’ll see it sooner than later. We’ve seen numerous case render (http://wccftech.com/galaxy-note-5-and-s6-edge-plus-cases/) leaks of the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus (http://wccftech.com/samsung-galaxy-s6-edge-render-leaks/) so far which give us a fair idea of what to expect on the device (http://wccftech.com/samsung-galaxy-s6-edge-leaks/) as well.
Aside from the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, Samsung’s also expected to unveil the Galaxy Note 5 this August. The Note 5 is expected to see quite a few changes from previous Note launches. The first and most evident of these is that Samsung just might launch the device before IFA takes place in Berlin this year, which would be a departure from the company’s previous traditions.
Besides this, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is also expected to come with an all metal body, which will eliminate the long held removable battery feature found on the device, which many users have grown to love. But since the launch of the Galaxy S6 Duo earlier this year, Samsung’s gone fully metal folks, and this change appears to be here to stay. You can take a look at some freshly leaked images of the Galaxy Note 5 (http://wccftech.com/samsung-galaxy-note-5-appears/) which show the stylus and other ports on the device’s bottom.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/galaxy-note-5-leaked-4-1-635x476.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/galaxy-note-5-leaked-4-1.jpg)Some images allegedly depicting the Galaxy Note 5.

Specifications wise, both the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus and the Galaxy Note 5 are expected to be similar in a lot of ways. Starting from the processor, both are expected to be powered by the company’s home grown Exynos 7420 (http://wccftech.com/galaxy-note-5-verizon-exynos-7420-and-4-gb-ram/) Octa, which can rightly be said to be one of the mobile industry’s top performing SoCs, partly due to the fact that its the first mobile processor to be manufactured on the 14nm FinFET process.

Both the devices are also expected to come with 5.7 inch screens, 4 GB of RAM to support the Exynos and 16 MP rear cameras. But unlike some rumors which surfaced early on, the Galaxy Note 5 will not be coming with Samsung’s unique curved display. This feature seems to be reserved for the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus only, which is funny given the fact that last year’s Note 4 Edge was the first Samsung device to introduce the feature to its customers.
Aside from these differences, and the fact that the Note 5 will also be coming with a stylus, its also expected to come featuring a 5MP front camera. This camera sensor is in fact the same sensor already found in the Galaxy S6, as we have told you earlier (http://wccftech.com/coming-august-5mp-front-camera-galaxy-note-5/). The Note 5 is also expected to be just 6mm thick, which will make it one of the thinnest Note device which Samsung has unveiled. The source of this information are some really authentic looking (http://www.wccftech.com/galaxy-note-5-glory/) renders, one of which you can see below.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Galaxy-Note-5-case-images31-635x537.jpg

http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Galaxy-Note-5-benchmark-geekbench-leak-635x6561-635x656.jpg

Coming towards the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus (http://wccftech.com/galaxy-note-5-galaxy-s6-edge-images-hardware-specifications/)‘ design, Samsung’s larger variant of the Galaxy S6 Edge launched earlier this year has seen lesser attention when compared to its Galaxy Note cousin. Starting from its design, the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus (http://wccftech.com/samsung-galaxy-s6-edge-render-leaks/) is not expected to feature any major design departures from the S6 Edge. This comes courtesy of some case renders as mentioned above. In fact, aside from some slight dimensional changes, the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus (http://wccftech.com/galaxy-note-5-and-s6-edge-plus-cases/) will be almost identical to the S6 Edge, which should be given since its a larger iteration of the same device.
But while we have seen little on its design so far, that does not mean the S6 Edge has not seen its fair share of rumors and speculations either. The majority of information which has surfaced about the device has been related to its performance and benchmarking results; and its quite a lot. In fact, from early on the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus (http://wccftech.com/samsung-galaxy-s6-edge-leaks/) was reported to be coming with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 808, the same processor adopted by LG for its G4.
This was expected to bridge some of the gaps which had started to occur between the two manufacturers after Samsung launched the Galaxy S6 Duo with its own Exynos 7420, and chose to skip Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810; an SoC now notorious for its overheating issues. The device is also expected to come with a hefty battery of 3000 mAh (http://wccftech.com/galaxy-s6-coming-3000mah-battery/), which should already help those who require the most out of their devices. The Galaxy S6 Edge Plus is expected to measure 151 mm tall and 73 mm wide, with a display measuring either 5.4 or 5.7 (http://wccftech.com/5-7-inch-galaxy-s6-edge-expected-in-august/) inches, 32 GB of internal storage and rear and front cameras of resolutions 16 and 5 MP. But as of now, we’ve started to see some benchmarks showcasing the Exynos 7420 (http://wccftech.com/galaxy-s6-edge-plus-will-feature-exynos-7420/) on the device.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/CH9H1WjWsAIjqAM.jpg

http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Galaxy-S6-Edge-Plus-Specs-635x8481-635x848.jpghttp://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Galaxy-S6-Edge-Plus-Specs-635x8481-635x848.jpg

So which device takes the crown? Our vote goes to the Galaxy Note 5, since its the latest version in Samsung’s much coveted phablet series. And with a metal design, the Exynos 7420, reduced thickness and improved rear camera, we really couldn’t ask for anything more on the Note 5. That is, except the Exynos 7422 (http://wccftech.com/exynos-7422-soc-rumored-present-galaxy-note-5/) that the device was expected to come with earlier. The Exynos 7422 was rumored to be Samsung very own All In One processing solution, and combine the GPU, CPU,RAM and Storage onto a single chip. But we guess that was just some wishful thinking.
Both the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus offer some great upgrades to Samsung’s devices. And if the Korean manufacturer chooses to launch the GalaxyS6 with the Snapdragon 808 after all, then it’d be interesting to see its performance compared to the Exynos 7420; though we’d expect the Exynos to take the higher place anyways. It would however mean that next year’s Galaxy upgrades could come with the Snapdragon 820, as it’s already been rumored that the Galaxy S7 (http://wccftech.com/galaxy-s7-snapdragon-soc/) is being tested with the Snapdragon. So stay tuned folks, Samsung’s unpacked event will be with us soon and let us know what you think in the comments section below.

Fresh Multiple Galaxy Note 5 Images Leak Showing Device From All Angles

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 5 has been the talk of the town recently. The Korean manufacturer is expected to launch the device in August, with exactly two weeks left until its launched. So far, the Galaxy Note 5 is expected to be a massive upgrade over last year’s Note 4, in terms of design and specifications both. Sadly though, we won’t see an edged display on this year’s note, as some latest leaked images further testify to.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/galaxy-note-53-635x423.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/galaxy-note-53.jpg)Samsung’s Galaxy Note 5 Sees Another Image Leak Confirming Several FeaturesAs we’ve already showed you in several image and case leaks of the Galaxy Note 5, the device will be coming with a similar assortment of controls and other key areas. Taking a look at the bottom of the device, we see the speaker grille, the USB port, the headphone jack and the S Pen nested comfortably in its holder, at the bottom of the device.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/galaxy-note-5-2-635x499.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/galaxy-note-5-2.jpg)The power On/Off button is on the right side of the device, and the volume buttons are on its left side. We can’t tell you about the SIM card holder in this set of images, as its being said to be located on the device’s top, which isn’t visible in either of the three sets of images that we’ve received today, courtesy of Sammobile (http://www.sammobile.com/2015/07/30/galaxy-note-5-pictures-released-in-anticipation-of-unpacked-event/). Overall, the Note 5 appears as elegant as ever, given Samsung’s choice of making the device completely of metal this time around.

http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/galaxy-note-5--635x387.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/galaxy-note-5-.jpg)
The rear camera will be protruding outside as well, and the Note 5 appears to have some very thin bezels if you take a look at the device in white. Right now, Samsung’s 2015’s phablet is expected to come running the Exynos 7420 or the Exynos 7422, 4 GB of RAM and a 5.7 inch display with resolution 2560 x 1440. The camera sensor on the device is said to be the same one as found on Samsung’s Galaxy S6 Duo, which is something that has been corroborated by multiple sources as of now. Galaxy Note 5 Codenamed Noble Has Its Specification Details Leaked

When we last spoke about Galaxy Note 5 and its hardware specifications, we had reported that the upcoming smartphone, had been codenamed ‘Project Noble’ (http://wccftech.com/exynos-7422-soc-rumored-present-galaxy-note-5/), and had been leaked to sport an Exynos 7420 SoC, along with 4 GB of RAM (http://wccftech.com/galaxy-note-5-verizon-exynos-7420-and-4-gb-ram/). Well, turns out that those leaks have yet to be changed by another other source because the upcoming flagship phablet is going to be sport the aforementioned hardware specifications, coupled with others that would actually have made the device a bitter disappointment.

Galaxy Note 5 Will Be Running Android 5.1.1, Along With 32 GB Of Internal Memory, But Sadly No MicroSD Card SupportAccording to popular leakster Evleaks (https://twitter.com/evleaks/with_replies%27), we have got a glimpse of what to expect from Galaxy Note 5. The details presented in the image below state that the phablet sized smartphone is going to sport a 5.66 inch screen size that will be radiating the 1440p resolution. The screen size is slightly smaller as compared to Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note 3, so let us hope that the device is stacked with a large battery pack. According to our previous report, we stated that Galaxy Note 5 was going to sport a 4,100 mAh battery (http://wccftech.com/latest-galaxy-note-5-leak-states-smartphone-feature-behemoth-screen-size-59-inches-4k-resolution-beefy-4100-mah-battery-usb-typec-port/). Let us hope that this information turns out to be true.
On a sadder note, the information states that the device is not going to sport a MicroSD card slot, and will come with 32 GB of on-board storage. Looks like Samsung is going to replicate the same act that it did with its Galaxy S6 family. Samsung, in the end, do not blame us when you have a reduced smartphone fan base wanting to purchase your products. As for the operating system update, Galaxy Note 5 is going to be running Android 5.1.1 out of the box.

http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/adadadaadadad.png (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/adadadaadadad.png)
A more delightful sight would have been the smartphone running Android M (http://wccftech.com/android-m-device-compatibility-list/), but its official release will be taking place later in the year. As for the rear and front camera sensors, Galaxy Note 5 is going to feature a 16 MP rear one and a 5 MP front one. Details on which company the camera sensors would belong to have not been stated but in order to reduce dependency on other firms such as Sony, we expect that a later batch of Galaxy Note 5 would be arriving sporting Samsung’s own camera sensor tech.
Like always, you guys should take this information with a grain of salt and wait for details to come in for the specification details of Galaxy Note 5. Stay tuned for more updates.

All Metal Adorns The Galaxy Note 5 And S6 Edge Plus In Latest Leak

With less than two weeks left until we see the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 with us, leaks have started to occur on Samsung’s phablet on a regular basis. After we saw the device’s specs leak earlier today, courtesy of evleaks, now we have some very official looking press renders of both the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus get posted by him as well.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/Samsung-Galaxy-Note-5-press-render-635x397.png (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/Samsung-Galaxy-Note-5-press-render.png)
The Galaxy Note 5 Sees Its Official Press Renders SurfaceAfter we saw Onleaks provide us with details about several devices yesterday, looks like his counterpart evleaks (https://twitter.com/evleaks/status/627285492409761797) is eager to be not left behind at all. He’s managed to get his hands on what appear to be some official press renders of the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, both of which are expected to be launched by Samsung on August 13th, in less than two weeks.

Both the devices, as we’ve been telling you so far, come with identical screen sizes and a nearly identical design as well, if we take a look at the images above. The proximity sensors and the front camera are in identical positions on both the devices’ front, and the metal design that we saw the Galaxy S6 Duo get launched with earlier this year also seems to have been retained.
Other than this, there’s nothing more than we can learn from today’s leaks, given that they only show one angle of the device. The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus are both expected to come with 16 MP rear cameras and 5.7 inch screens. In terms of launch availability, both the devices are expected to make a debut here in the US, so you’re covered there. As for users around the globe, there’s nothing for sure yet, so keep your fingers crossed. Processor wise, the Note 5 is turning out to be the more interesting option so far, with the Exynos 7422, while the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus has seen both the Snapdragon 808 and the Exynos 7420 mentioned. Stay tuned and let us know what you think in the comments section below.

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 specs all but confirmed in the latest leak

The specs of Samsung's Galaxy Note 5 haven't been much of a secret, but now notorious leaker @evleaks has dished the specs on Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Note 5.

image: http://imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/4/6/46833_01_samsung-galaxy-note-5-specs-confirmed-latest-leak.jpg (http://www.tweaktown.com/image.php?image=imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/4/6/46833_01_samsung-galaxy-note-5-specs-confirmed-latest-leak_full.jpg)
http://imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/4/6/46833_01_samsung-galaxy-note-5-specs-confirmed-latest-leak.jpg

We should expect Samsung to be using an 8-core Exynos 7420 processor, a 5.66-inch 2560x1440 QHD display, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of on-board storage (with 64GB and 128GB models, too), a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera backed up by a 5-megapixel selfie shooter, Android 5.1.1 and no SD card slot. The last bit is going to have Galaxy Note fans up in arms, as it was one of the more powerful features of the previous generation handsets.

Samsung should include some updated, and new pen-orientated apps that the S Pen can be used with, but here's hoping there's more in store for the Galaxy Note 5 ahead of its unveiling later this month.

AnTuTu Reports That Galaxy Note 5 Scores Slightly Over 69,700 Points

With Galaxy Note 5 (http://wccftech.com/galaxy-note-5-no-sd-card-slot/) to be unveiled August 13, more leaks are definitely going to come through. On the aforementioned date, we will get a chance to marvel at the device developed by Samsung, but for now, let us focus on the latest benchmarking score leak. Popular benchmarking application for smartphones, AnTuTu has reported that Galaxy Note 5 was able to obtain a phenomenal score of 69,700 points. That’s not all; the scores of Samsung’s Galaxy Edge Plus were also revealed, but we will get to that later.
Recommended: Galaxy Note 5 Vs The iPhone 6s: What We Know So Far (http://wccftech.com/galaxy-note-5-vs-iphone-6s/)http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/samsung-galaxy-note-5-concept.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/samsung-galaxy-note-5-concept.jpg)
Galaxy Note 5 Comes Close To 70,000 Points, While The Company’s Galaxy S6 Duo Manages To Pull Off 64,474 PointsAccording to the results posted on AnTuTu (http://www.antutu.com/view.shtml?id=8104), Galaxy Note 5 was able to obtain a score of 69702 points in the taxing application. While Both Galaxy Note 5 and all models of Galaxy S6 feature the same chipset, (Exynos 7420), it is a matter of screen sizes, and amount of RAM that comes in to play. Starting off, both Note 5 and Galaxy S6 resonate a resolution of 1440p, but since Samsung’s upcoming large screen flagship offering is much larger in dimensions, it automatically reduces the pixel per inch density of the handset, leading to a higher score as compared to the one obtained by Galaxy S6.
Another reason Galaxy Note 5 is able to gain a comprehensive lead against its smaller screen sized cousin is because it features a whole gigabyte of RAM higher than Galaxy S6. That is reason enough as to why the handset was able to get a much higher score. As for Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, the smartphone was able to obtain a score 68,345 points. On this occasion, Galaxy S6 Edge Plus possesses the exact same specifications as Galaxy Note 5, except for being 0.2 inches shorter, and possessing a smaller capacity battery.

The difference in screen sizes automatically led to a difference of pixel per inch densities, which accounted for Galaxy S6 Edge Plus receiving a lesser score than Galaxy Note 5.
Given below is a difference of scores obtained by all three handsets:

Galaxy Note 5: 69,702 points
Galaxy S6 Edge Plus: 68,345 points
Galaxy S6: 64474

Like always, we will have more updates for you in the coming days so stay tuned.

Leaked In Its Glory; Hands On Galaxy Note 5 Images Show Elegant Design

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus launches are all that anyone can talk about these days lately. The Korean manufacturer made quite an impact with the launch of the Galaxy S6 Duo this year, and considering what we’ve been seeing and hearing about the two new devices so far, looks like Samsung’s in for quite a strong year as well. Don’t believe us? Take a look at some fresh Galaxy Note 5 hands on images that have popped up today.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/gsmarena_001-635x440.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/gsmarena_001.jpg)
Latest Galaxy Note 5 Images Show Thin Form Factor And Smooth CurvesWhile its common news by now that the Galaxy Note 5 will indeed be coming with an all metal design, which most likely means no more removable batteries for Samsung fans, its still somewhat rare to see the device fully in the flesh. But with the Note 5 set to be launched in less than two weeks, we suppose the device has taken final shape after all, otherwise Samsung should be in quite a bit of trouble indeed.
Now, folks over at DroidLife (http://www.droid-life.com/2015/08/04/samsung-galaxy-note-5-pictures/) have managed to get their hands on some hands on photos of the Galaxy Note 5 that appear to be quite authentic if we take into account everything that we’ve been hearing over the past couple of months. Samsung’s phablet is quite similar in design language to the Galaxy S6 Duo and comes with a speaker grille, a USB port and the S Pen slot at the bottom, which is everything that current render leaks have also detailed on the device.

http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/galaxy-note-5-2-635x461.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/galaxy-note-5-2.jpg)
Speaking on its overall design, as that’s all that we can decipher from these images, the Note 5 will be quite a good looking device indeed. An all metal form factor for Samsung’s flagship does give it an elegant and premium look, which is undoubtedly what Samsung intends for it as well. In terms of specifications, we’d expect to see 4 GB of RAM, the Exynos 7420 or if you’re lucky, the Exynos 7422 and rear/front cameras of 16 and 5 MP respectively.
All of this will be topped off by a 5.7 inch screen, which should make the Note 5 a serious consideration for anyone looking for a phablet upgrade this year. Or, you could also wait for the iPhone 6S Plus, which is due from Apple in September and said to come with several upgrades and features such as Force Touch on board. Thoughts? Let us know what you think in the comments section below and stay tuned for more.

Galaxy Note 5 and S6 Edge Plus Posted By Retailer As Samsung Seemingly Confirms Device

With just a week left until we get to lay our eyes on the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, the handset seems very eager to make as many appearances as possible prior to its official unveiling in New York this 13th. Samsung’s larger screened Edge has been in the news for quite a while, and with the latest teasers the Korean electronics giant has posted, the device is almost confirmed by now. Today we get to see more postings of the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, and you can take a look at them below.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/e-a-635x250.png (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/e-a.png)
Samsung Netherlands Seeming Confirms Galaxy S6 Edge Plus As Its Specifications Get PostedSamsung Netherlands seems to have understood that the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus’ existence is no longer a secret. They’ve started a competition through which those who register will be able to witness a local unpacked event from Samsung that will also be showcasing the device. While we trust our sources when it comes to upcoming device information, a confirmation directly from the manufacturer of said device in question is always great to see.

Apart from seeing its name confirmed, Samsung’s Galaxy S6 Edge Plus has also been listed on a Middle Eastern store, alongside the Galaxy Note 5. Spotted by folks over at Unlimit-tech (http://www.unlimit-tech.com/blog/?p=143974), both the devices get listed with what we’ve been telling you so far. The processor for the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus has been listed as the Exynos 7420, RAM has been listed at 4 GB, rear and front cameras at 16 and 5 MP.
The Galaxy Note 5 has been listed with micro SIM slot as well, while the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus will be coming with nano SIM support. The Galaxy S6 Edge Plus is listed with a battery of 3000 mAh and the Note 5 fares much better with a 4100 mAh one. It won’t be long until Samsung launches both the devices. Till then, stay tuned and let us know what you think in the comments section below.

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Announced: Specs, Features, Price, Release Date

After months of anticipation and hype, Samsung has officially taken the wraps off the Galaxy Note 5 today. The phablet has been in the news for quite a while before its launch and we’ve known several details about the device already. But that’s all in the past and today we get to take a look at what all the hype surrounding Samsung’s latest device was really about. So let’s start.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/CMTC4AlWgAAp9wt.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/CMTC4AlWgAAp9wt.jpg)
Samsung Launches The Galaxy Note 5 With 5.7-inch Screen And Exynos 7420At its Unpacked event in New York today, Samsung was eager to show off a lot of devices. We’ve covered each of these separately, so head over to the links at the bottom of this post to find out more. The Galaxy Note 5 is here with us today and it comes with an all-metal design, and no Micro SD card slot as had been expected so far.
The device follows the Galaxy S6 range of handsets in overall design language, apart from some features of course, such as the S Pen being clickable so you can get it out of its holder much easily. Also, once you take the pen out of its holder, you can immediately start taking notes even if the device is off, and if it’s on, then interaction with the screen brings up an all new Air Command feature, that should allow you to place apps in easily accessible shortcuts.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/CMTDHjqWIAA7Cwq.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/CMTDHjqWIAA7Cwq.jpg)
A sleek metal design, combined with two color options give Samsung’s phablet a premium look that has often been found missing from the Korean manufacturer’s devices. On the left side of the Galaxy Note 5 we have the volume buttons and on its right side we see the power button. On the front we have the usual capacitive buttons for multitasking and going a page back, and as expected, a home button coupled with a fingerprint sensor.
On the bottom right of the Note 5 lives the S Pen, which we mentioned before, now features a spring loading mechanism for easier access than before. This is followed by two rows of the speaker grille and the USB connector port in the center, which sadly isn’t Type C. Finally we have the headphone jack on the bottom and all of this is topped up with the customary antenna bands. But before you get too disappointed on the Note 5’s data capabilities, the device comes with the faster, all new UFS 2.0 standard, but there’s no expandable storage, with the two storage options that the Note 5 will be available in being 32 and 64GB.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/gsmarena_0011-635x635.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/gsmarena_0011.jpg)
Coming towards camera specifications, the Galaxy Note 5 comes with a 16MP rear-facing camera with an aperture size of f/1.9, optical image stabilization and real-time HDR. Also, according to Samsung, the Galaxy Note 5’s camera will be able to live stream 1080p videos directly to YouTube, so there’s a nice little feature for aspiring vloggers out there.
The front camera of the device comes with a resolution of 5MP with an aperture of f/1.9. Expanded apertures for both the cameras should improve camera results, particularly those involving low light scenarios drastically.

The Galaxy Note 5 has a screen size of 5.7-inches and features Quad HD resolution; that’s 2K for those who know their tech lingo. It’s also Super AMOLED, so you can rest assured that your photos and videos will pop right out of the display.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/CMTEDiCXAAAx6SQ.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/CMTEDiCXAAAx6SQ.jpg)
Now coming towards perhaps the most anticipated feature on the Samsung Galaxy Note 5. While we heard several reports surface prior to today’s launch about the Exynos 7422, Samsung’s very own SiP for the Galaxy Note 5, looks like the Korean manufacturer isn’t quite ready to show us the Exynos 7422 just quite yet. But the current 14nm Exynos 7420 isn’t that bad either, and until we get to see upgrades from either Qualcomm or Samsung’s end, an upgraded 4GB of RAM on Samsung’s latest should prove very sufficient to even those with the most performance intensive needs.
Oh and the battery on the Note 5 isn’t what we’ve been expecting so far and the device will be coming with a battery capacity of 3,000mAh. Samsung has reduced the battery capacity on the Galaxy Note 5 but promises that you won’t feel the difference through fast charging. You’ll also be getting wireless fast charging on the Galaxy Note 5, so that’s another nice little upgrade from Samsung’s end.
The complete set of detailed tech specs of the Galaxy Note 5, as well as the Galaxy S6 Edge+ are as follows. Remember, we have a separate post for the S6 Edge+ so be sure to check that out as well.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/Screen-Shot-2015-08-13-at-9.00.25-PM-635x775.png
You can start pre-ordering the Galaxy Note 5 starting today and the device will be available in the US starting August 21st. You can also expect the Note 5 to be available on almost all major US carriers, with price starting at $250 for the 32GB model and a hundred dollars more for the 64GB iteration. Samsung’s official website’s also displaying information about a 128 GB variant of the device, so we might be in for some good luck as well.
Thoughts on the Galaxy Note 5? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.

Check Out Samsung Galaxy Note 5 In Official Press Images

Its official folks. One of 2015’s highly anticipated smartphones is being showcased to you in all its glory; the Samsung Galaxy Note 5. Even though there were myriad of images and specification leaks concerning the upcoming handset, we have finally seen what Samsung was working so hard to achieve. In addition to all the impressive hardware stacked inside the flagship phablet, Galaxy Note 5 also comes with a physical keyboard cover can be attached or detached at will. After all, Samsung does not want to get rid of the tactile feeling when you press a button.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/asdasdsadsada-635x286.png (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/asdasdsadsada.png)
Galaxy Note 5 Comes With A Physical Keyboard And Sports A Cat LTE 9 Modem; See All The Images Of The Handset HereWhile it was disappointing to see that Galaxy Note 5 did not sport Exynos 7422, the handset still features the next best thing; Exynos 7420, Samsung’s 14nm SoC that debuted with the Galaxy S6 Duo earlier this year. What is even more exciting is that Galaxy Note 5 comes with an S Pen that possesses a clicking mechanism. This mechanism allows the stylus to pop right out, which gives the user a very satisfying feeling when using their large screen smartphone.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/201508145QAC0XA94YE53EHURXOH5VG5-635x635.jpg

In order to keep the spirit of physical keyboards alive, Galaxy Note 5 will also provide support for a physical keyboard cover. Additionally, since it is a flagship handset, it will be sporting a Cat 9 LTE modem. One Other real nifty feature coming from the smartphone is that Galaxy Note 5 lets you scroll while capturing a screen shot, so it is one image at the end of the day.

http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/20150814H9EYTQ3C8Y6AAV0II4VRZWAI-635x635.jpg

http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/20150814MMU3R1VNK4SINUTJLKDIIKZW-635x635.jpg

Apart from possessing 4 GB of RAM underneath its hood, Galaxy Note 5 also provides support for 4K video recording, which is a feature that has become a regular entry in flagship smartphones. However, what most handsets do not feature is VDIS + OIS, which not only stabilizes the camera sensor while snapping images, but the same function is carried out while recording videos, regardless of what resolution they might be.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/bandicam_2015-08-13_11-31-22-739-635x354.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/bandicam_2015-08-13_11-31-22-739.jpg)
While wireless charging has yet to surpass hardwire charging, Samsung has reduced the overall charging gap between these two methods. Now, Galaxy Note 5 will charge from 0-100 percent in matter of two hours through wireless charging. As for the launch date; officially, Galaxy Note 5 starts getting sold from August 21, but US pre-orders start today at 3 PM, which is great news for those living in the boundaries of the United States. Apparently the Galaxy Note 5 won’t launch in the UK (http://www.kitguru.net/laptops/mobile/matthew-wilson/apparently-the-galaxy-note-5-wont-launch-in-the-uk/)

Samsung held its Unpacked event today, revealing two phones we have been reporting on for weeks: The Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge+. While traditionally the Galaxy Note devices have sold very well, it seems Samsung has a plan to divide these two new phones up depending on the market in each country.
Unfortunately for those in the UK, this means that the Galaxy Note 5 is only launching in the US and Asian markets for the time being. However, the Galaxy S6 Edge+ will be launching in the UK, though it won’t be available until some time in September.
http://www.kitguru.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/phone-right.png (http://www.kitguru.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/phone-right.png)
TrustedReviews attended the event (http://www.trustedreviews.com/news/samsung-galaxy-note-5-uk-release-date) and managed to get this explanation out of a Samsung spokesperson:”The market availability of the Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Galaxy Note 5 will vary according to consumer needs and the specific market situation. The Galaxy Note 5 will be introduced in the US and Asian markets in August, and Samsung will look at further opportunities to launch Galaxy Note 5 in other markets.”
The last part of the spokesperson’s statement suggests that we may see the Galaxy Note 5 in the UK eventually, possibly when there is a bit more stock kicking around that Samsung needs to shift. However, if you are in the UK and were hoping to upgrade from an older Galaxy Note device this year, then it doesn’t look like that’s going to be an option.

Hands On With the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ (http://www.anandtech.com/show/9502/hands-on-with-the-galaxy-note-5-and-galaxy-s6-edge-plus)

http://images.anandtech.com/doci/9502/DSC_3569_678x452.jpg

Today, Samsung is announcing the next generation of their Galaxy-brand phablets, the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 edge+. Samsung’s phablets have been one of their greatest smartphone success stories, finding traction in a market when many thought there wouldn’t be a place for such a large phone. And while you will never see some competitors directly admit to it, products like the Note series have legitimized the phablet form factor and required that the competition catch up as well, making the phablet form factor as much of a home court for Samsung as there can be.
Starting with their 2014 models, Samsung introduced two different phablets, the Galaxy Note 4 (http://www.anandtech.com/show/8613/the-samsung-galaxy-note-4-review) and the simply titled Galaxy Note Edge (http://www.anandtech.com/show/8467/samsung-announces-galaxy-note-edge-hands-on). This year Samsung is retaining the dual phablet approach, however in the case of the Edge product Samsung has shifted gears on what they want to do. For 2015 Samsung seems to be going after a new audience in the form of the Galaxy S6 edge+, which is a more distinct derivative of the Note 5 platform with some greater feature changes than just a curved screen. To try and explain what I mean, I’ve included the specs below.

As one can see, the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+ share a lot in common. They have the same SoC, same amount of DRAM, almost identical displays, the same cameras, fingerprint scanners, and the same battery. Ultimately what differs between the two devices is not the underlying hardware, but the functionality and form factor of the devices.
There are really two important differences between the two, namely the removal of the S-Pen and addition of the curved display to the Galaxy S6 edge+. The result is that while the Galaxy Note 5 is a traditional Note phablet, the Galaxy S6 edge+ is closer to a very large Galaxy S6 edge, and this is why these two closely related devices are placed in very different product lines. In some ways, I suspect that this will be a litmus test for the S-Pen functionality in general, as sales may prove Note functionality has a relatively small effect on the desirability of a phablet.

Galaxy S6 edge+ Design Moving past the distinction between the two models, the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+ share very similar industrial and material design. The bezel surrounding the display and the back cover both continue to use the highly reflective patterning that we first saw with the Galaxy S6, and in the case of the Galaxy Note 5 the bezel surrounding the display has become even thinner than before. Like the Galaxy S6 edge, the plus variant has bezels that are effectively equivalent to the Galaxy Note 5 as the angle reduces the effective size of the technically larger bezel.

http://images.anandtech.com/doci/9502/DSC_3581_575px.jpg (http://images.anandtech.com/doci/9502/DSC_3581.jpg)
http://images.anandtech.com/doci/9502/DSC_3580_575px.jpg (http://images.anandtech.com/doci/9502/DSC_3580.jpg) http://images.anandtech.com/doci/9502/DSC_3582_575px.jpg (http://images.anandtech.com/doci/9502/DSC_3582.jpg) With the Galaxy S6, there was a noticeable distinction between the normal version and the edge variant when it came to in-hand feel as the standard version was significantly thicker on the left and right sides of the phone. With the Galaxy Note 5, this difference is lessened, but the difference in in-hand comfort definitely remains. The big driver for this is the use of 3D glass on the back cover of the Galaxy Note 5, which allows for a more ergonomic design in the hand. I can’t help but compare this to the first phablet that I’ve seen with a 3D glass back cover, namely the Xiaomi Mi Note line, which feels remarkably similar in the hand. At any rate, the Note 5 seems to remain more ergonomic than the edge variant, which has a flat back but a curved display.

http://images.anandtech.com/doci/9502/DSC_3575_575px.jpg (http://images.anandtech.com/doci/9502/DSC_3575.jpg) S-Pen One of the major updates changes to the Galaxy Note 5 is improvements on the S-Pen, which has a number of new changes to the design and software functionality. On the hardware side, the pen itself now has a changed mechanism that has a push button top that allows the pen to be completely flush inside the phone when not in use, but easily ejected by pushing on the top of the pen to make it protrude. The digitizer also has dramatically reduced latency. In my experience, this helps a lot with making writing more natural on the Note 5 as I don’t hesitate as much while waiting for the input to catch up.

http://images.anandtech.com/doci/9502/DSC_3586_575px.jpg (http://images.anandtech.com/doci/9502/DSC_3586.jpg) On the software side, Samsung has added a host of notable additions to extend the functionality of the S-Pen, namely PDF annotation, an Air command floating button, customizable shortcuts, and scroll capture. PDF annotation sounds exactly like what you might expect, which is the ability to write directly on a PDF and save the results. This has obvious utility in cases like signing documents, as the user experience involved in digitally signing a document is horrific and usually goes something like printing out a PDF, signing the PDF, and scanning the signed document. In the case of the Note 5, signing a document is pretty much as easy as opening the PDF with the right application, writing a signature with the S-Pen, and saving the changes.
Meanwhile the Air command floating button and customizable shortcuts are somewhat more mundane. The floating button just allows for one-tap access to what was previously hidden behind the button press of the pen, and customizable shortcuts in the Air command menu is useful but not exactly life-changing.

http://images.anandtech.com/doci/9502/DSC_3587_575px.jpg (http://images.anandtech.com/doci/9502/DSC_3587.jpg)
http://images.anandtech.com/doci/9502/DSC_3589_575px.jpg (http://images.anandtech.com/doci/9502/DSC_3589.jpg) Scroll capture is also arguably a “minor” feature, but I would argue that its value is significant when it comes to improving the user experience of the phone. In short, this screenshot mode makes it possible to screenshot a long list in an entire screenshot, so something like Google Maps directions can be taken as a single scrollable screenshot rather than 2-20 screenshots that might have overlapping information and potentially missing information from the ListView. However, as far as I can tell this capture mode is strangely hidden behind S-Pen functionality when it really should be integrated into the existing screenshot capture gestures that programmatically determines whether to present this scroll capture mode.
Camera
http://images.anandtech.com/doci/9502/DSC_3590_575px.jpg (http://images.anandtech.com/doci/9502/DSC_3590.jpg)
http://images.anandtech.com/doci/9502/DSC_3592_575px.jpg (http://images.anandtech.com/doci/9502/DSC_3592.jpg) Although the camera configuration is unchanged from the Galaxy S6 with an IMX240 or S5K2P2 camera sensor, f/1.9 optics and a 5MP FFC, there are some new and interesting features present in the camera application. One notable additional is improved pro mode, with extended ISO range down to 50 ISO and the addition of a shutter speed toggle for long exposures. However, manual white balance remains unchanged as far as I can tell with only a few presets rather than fine-grained color temperature adjustments. I was unable to get a RAW sample from the device, but it will be interesting to see if Samsung has properly implemented sensor and lens corrections into the RAW files.

Samsung Galaxy Note5 Phablet: Hands-On Video

http://media.bestofmicro.com/1/Y/518470/original/Samsung-Galaxy-Note5-5.jpg
Although we have already had a chance to check out Samsung's Galaxy Note5 and write a detailed preview (http://www.tomshardware.com/news/samsung-android-smartphone-note5-edge,29831.html) about it, we got another opportunity yesterday to play with one at the New York Unpacked event.
The Note5 is the successor to the Galaxy Note 4, a phone we really liked (http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/samsung-galaxy-note-4,4114.html). It is the fifth phone in Samsung's series of Note devices that started the whole large-screen phablet revolution back in 2011.
This year, though, Samsung has radically transformed the Note5 into a device that perhaps doesn't honor the tenets that made the Note series of phones great. The capitulation to market (and perhaps a little media) pressure made Samsung abandon a few of the core features of its Galaxy S series of phones this year. The Galaxy S6 and S6 edge (http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/samsung-galaxy-s6-s6-edge,4157.html) are crafted from premium materials – glass and metal – but by incorporating them, the battery became non-removable, and the microSD slot was removed.
http://media.bestofmicro.com/1/Z/518471/original/Samsung-Galaxy-Note5-4.jpg
The new Note has befallen the same fate. Its battery is fixed in place, and the microSD slot is nowhere to be seen. However, if these sacrifices were the only way to achieve what we saw today (which was a gorgeous device), perhaps we could learn to live with the omissions. We're sure, though, that some of you won't be able to.
One thing to keep in mind, even if you are unhappy with the changes, is that there are number of other improvements outside of its physical design that do make the Note5 somewhat of a worthy successor to the phablet throne.

Because we've already covered in detail (http://www.tomshardware.com/news/samsung-android-smartphone-note5-edge,29831.html) the specifications of the Note5, we won't go over them again here. Suffice it say that they are almost the same as the Galaxy S6's. While some may be disappointed with this news, you have to ask yourself: Is this really that big of a deal? Keep in mind that the Exynos 7420 SoC found in the S6 and Note5 is widely considered to be the best mobile chip on the market today.
Seeing that there is no better silicon available right now, what other choice did Samsung have, other than to duplicate much of the S6's internal specifications? There is no new Exynos chip coming in the near future, and Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 isn't coming in 2016.
Still, the Note5 does have 1 GB or more RAM, which should help a little when multitasking with many applications open at once. Further, because the Note5's chassis is roomier, the Exynos SoC should have more thermal headroom and be able to run at higher frequencies for longer. The bigger chassis should also dissipate heat better, making for a cooler phone.
When it comes down to it, Galaxy S6 specs or not, when you compare the Note5 to its current and former competition, it should still handily outperform all of them.
http://media.bestofmicro.com/4/2/518546/original/Samsung-Galaxy-Note5-17.jpg
The Note5's 5.7-inch Super AMOLED QHD display looks very impressive, which is to be expected because Samsung currently produces the best smartphone screens. The minimal side bezels also means the Note5 is quite compact for a phone with such a large display. What is not clear is if this is the same QHD panel as the Note 4, or if it has been upgraded to be brighter and have better color accuracy.
We do, however, continue to question the insistence that Samsung's 2016 phones don't need expandable storage. Yes, we know the internal UFS 2.0 NAND storage architecture is much better than any microSD card can offer, but at least give your users the option of adding extra storage.
What's perhaps the more egregious decision is to not equip the Note5 with a removable battery. While we do understand that to retain the S6's glass and metal design would have made adding this feature significantly challenging, surely Samsung could figure something out -- that, or just keep the new Note closer to its predecessors. (It is possible to have a back that is both made from a premium material and removable. Just ask LG.)
This decision would possibly not have been taken so badly if Samsung had given the Note5 a little more girth. We are sure most buyers wouldn't notice, and even a few millimeters would have allowed for a bigger internal battery. Prior to yesterday's event, many were expecting to see the Note5 with a 4,000 mAh battery. As it stands, the Note5's battery is bigger than the one in the S6 and S6 edge, which should translate to more battery life because there are so many similarities in hardware.
Samsung's solutions to all this battery size stress is to rely on new technologies to compensate for what are (on paper) essentially downgrades from the preceding Note.
http://media.bestofmicro.com/4/0/518544/gallery/Samsung-Galaxy-Note5-7_w_600.jpg (http://www.tomshardware.com/gallery/Samsung-Galaxy-Note5-7,0101-518544-0-2-12-1-jpg-.html)
The Note5 supports the WPC's (Wireless Power Consortium (http://www.wirelesspowerconsortium.com/)) new Qi-based 15-watt fast charging tech. Samsung claimed that the Note5 can be fully charged wirelessly in as little as two hours, but we'll have to test that ourselves when we can. Even if the preceding is true, fast charging is no substitute for the ability to swap out a dying battery and go from zero to 100 percent power in a matter of seconds.

Samsung Galaxy Note5 Smartphone Hands-On

Design Not only has the Galaxy Note5 adopted the same materials as the Galaxy S series, but it now also uses identical design language. Previous Note phones did stand a little more apart, having their own appearance that mirrored their name. The Note 3, for example, took design cues from paper notebooks, with its faux leather back and ridged sides that were inspired by a stack of paper.
http://media.bestofmicro.com/4/3/518547/original/Galaxy-Note5_Black-Sapphire_back.jpg
For this year, Samsung believes there is more value in having a unified language across all its (premium, at least) phones, so the Note5 is all glass and metal. One unique touch is that the sides of its back are curved, a feature that is both aesthetically pleasing and ergonomic. Essentially, though, we are still left with the fact that the Note5 has lost part of its identity. It now looks like a giant Galaxy S6, and while this may widen its appeal, it's likely to be seen as a negative by existing Note converts.

http://media.bestofmicro.com/4/4/518548/gallery/Samsung-Galaxy-Note5-11_w_300.jpg

</tbody>
At the top of the phone is the SIM card tray, and at the bottom the USB 2.0 charging port, headphone jack, speaker and the S Pen. On the Note5, Samsung continues only to offer a single speaker, when clearly there would be enough room on such a large phone to include front-facing stereo speakers. We continue to be baffled as to why Samsung thinks this isn't a feature that its users would find useful.
Camera As we discussed in our preview, the Note5 uses the same camera hardware as the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge. The sensor, optics and features are identical. This also means that the camera sensor lottery (http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/samsung-galaxy-s6-s6-edge,4157-5.html) issue will probably still apply to the Note5. When testing the S6s, we discovered that Samsung was including either a Sony or Samsung sensor, and the choice of sensor used wasn't made clear to the user prior to purchase. What you would get was almost random, depending on when and what factory the phone was produced in.
http://media.bestofmicro.com/4/6/518550/original/Samsung-Galaxy-Note5-12.jpg
Samsung said that in practice, there were no differences between the sensors because they had identical specifications and features. However, our testing revealed that the Sony sensor produced slightly better images. If this issue does persist, let's hope Samsung at least perhaps identifies which sensor a given phone has on its packaging.
Despite this problem, though, the Galaxy S6 still had one of the best cameras that we've ever tested on a smartphone. You can be sure that no matter the sensor you are dealt (if this issue persists), that the Note5's camera will perform very well.
At the Unpacked event, we did hear a little more about one new feature of the Note5's phone: It has improved stabilization in video mode, called Video Digital Imaging Stabilization, which works in conjunction with the OIS to produce even smoother videos. Although we weren't able to test it at the show, the sample videos shown were impressively stable.
Software And S Pen Updates http://media.bestofmicro.com/4/7/518551/original/Samsung-Galaxy-Note5-9.jpg
On the software side, we didn't get enough time with the Note5 to explore what is new this time round. It is still running Android 5.1.1, but the TouchWiz launcher's appearance has been updated and features new icons with a more rounded look. We can't say we like these new icons, though their shape does match the design aesthetic of the phone's hardware. But hoping that Samsung will adopt a more muted stock Android appearance for its default UI is a fool's errand.
http://media.bestofmicro.com/4/1/518545/original/Samsung-Galaxy-Note5-13.jpg
The main focus of the software improvements made to the Note5 has to do with its characteristic S Pen. On the Note5, the Air Command radial menu that is used to access the Pen's functions has been completely overhauled. On the Note 4, this menu would pop up when you removed the Pen from its slot, and on demand by pressing a button on the phone. However, it would quickly disappear, sometimes not giving you enough time to select an option.
http://media.bestofmicro.com/4/9/518553/original/Samsung-Galaxy-Note5-2.jpg
On the Note5, the Air Command menu is now an overlay over whatever screen you are currently viewing and persists until you select an option, or close it.
http://media.bestofmicro.com/4/A/518554/original/Samsung-Galaxy-Note5-3.jpg
A couple of other new features are the ability to scroll when doing a screen capture, allowing you to take a screenshot of a long web page or a long list of directions in Google Maps. You can now also write on the screen when the phone is sleeping, which appears as white handwriting on the blank display, and when you wake the phone, it saves this as a new note.
Accessories http://media.bestofmicro.com/4/B/518555/original/Samsung-Galaxy-Note5-19.jpg
At the Unpacked event, Samsung had a wall of accessories on display showcasing all the first-party and third-party options for the Note5. As can be seen from the image above, there are going to be a wide variety of options to choose from. Perhaps the most bizarre accessory on display, though, is the new keyboard cover.
http://media.bestofmicro.com/4/C/518556/original/Samsung-Galaxy-Note5-18.jpg
This mini-keyboard clips on magnetically over the front of the Note5, and turns it into essentially a BlackBerry Passport. When attached, the OS shifts everything up to accommodate the keyboard, which is a neat trick. Of course, this may play havoc with third-party apps. This accessory is certainly a novel approach to improving the typing experience on a big phone like the Note5, but we are not sure how many users would really want to use it.
We weren't able to test it out to see how well the keyboard performed, but we will say that it is definitely one of the most unattractive smartphone add-ons we've seen in recent memory. It turns your Note into a Frankenstein's monster of BlackBerry, old feature phone keyboard and phablet. Still, if it wasn't too expensive, we'd still want to own one, just to see the look on people's faces when we pull it out and attach it to our phone.

It does appear that initially North America will lose out a little in the color choice department. We only get the black and white phone here. In other markets, there are also silver and gold Note5's, which can be seen below. The Note5 will be available on a wide variety of carriers in both Canada and the U.S.
http://media.bestofmicro.com/4/E/518558/gallery/Samsung-Galaxy-Note5-15_w_600.jpg (http://www.tomshardware.com/gallery/Samsung-Galaxy-Note5-15,0101-518558-0-2-12-1-jpg-.html)
In the U.S., the 32 GB Galaxy Note5 is $250 with a 2-year contract, and the 64 GB model is $350. Outright, the Note5 starts at around $700 for the 32 GB model and $800 for the 64 GB, depending on what carrier you choose.
In Canada, the Note5 jumps in price considerably. The 32 GB model is $360 with a 2-year contract, and the 64 GB model is expected to be $460. Outright, the Note5 starts at around $800 for the 32 GB model and $900 for the 64 GB, depending on what carrier you choose.
New Note, Big Disappointment? Overall, from the time we spent with the Galaxy Note5 at last week's preview and at yesterday's Unpacked event, we came away simultaneously impressed and a little disappointed. In many ways the Note5 is the best Note yet, incorporating the most powerful mobile hardware currently available along with useful advancements in how its signature feature, the S Pen, works. It is also one of the best-looking large-screen phones on the market, exquisitely crafted from premium materials. Samsung also produces the best screens in the business, and the gorgeous 5.7-inch display fits into a body that is smaller than the last year's model -- an impressive feat.
http://media.bestofmicro.com/4/F/518559/original/Samsung-Galaxy-Note5-16.jpg
Unfortunately, there is no getting around the fact that in order to achieve some its design goals, Samsung cut some of the features that make a Note, well, a Note. The battery is no longer removable and there is no microSD slot. For many people, these omissions are going to be unforgivable, and it seems odd that Samsung is almost turning on the fans that made the Note series of phones so popular in the first place. We also think that perhaps in Samsung's chase to offer the same level of craftsmanship and design as that fruit company's phones, it has produced devices that look perhaps a little too similar.
Still, we don't want to pass final judgement until we've been able to spend a real amount of time with the Note5, so stay tuned for more. Perhaps after using it for an extended period our concerns will dissipate.

Samsung Erroneously Adds 128GB SKUs For Galaxy Note 5 And Galaxy S6 Edge+ Phablets

It was only yesterday that we gave you a close-up look at some of Samsung’s hottest new gear at the Samsung Unpacked 2015 event. The Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ were stars of the show with sleek exteriors and high-end guts. Then, things got a little weird.

If you followed the coverage (http://hothardware.com/news/samsung-unpacks-galaxy-note-5-at-swank-new-york-event) yesterday, you know that both smartphones will be available with 32GB or 64GB of storage, depending on the size of your budget. Today, Samsung threw everyone for a loop by putting a 128GB model on its website. Speculation that the company was quietly rolling out 128GB models (after Samsung denied that 128GB models would be offered only yesterday) quickly swamped the Internet and probably caused some headaches for more than a few Samsung employees.

http://hothardware.com/ContentImages/NewsItem/34708/content/samsung-galaxy-error-1.jpg

Samsung sprang into action this morning, debunking stories that suggested Samsung was quietly rolling out 128GB models. It planned to update its website to reflect the availability of only the 32GB and 64GB models, though the Galaxy S6 Edge+ was still showing a 128GB model this afternoon (http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones/SM-G928TZKFTMB?CID=AFL-hq-mul-0813-11000170).

So, it looks like 64GB is still the best storage you’ll get with the Galaxy Note 5 or Galaxy S6 Edge+. As we noted earlier, that would be less of an issue if the devices had microSD slots, but Samsung didn’t put such slots in either device, apparently in an attempt to make the phones have more of an iPhone vibe.

That hasn’t been sitting well with customers, who liked the flexibility that came with being able to add storage cards. “If I’d wanted an iPhone, I would have bought one. You’ve lost me as a customer, Samsung,” wrote SkyBill40 in response to our coverage of the missing microSD slots yesterday.

Samsung Galaxy Note5 battery surprise

http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/d473d690fd2c6a273e8fa1b13bcd5dfb_L.jpg (http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/d473d690fd2c6a273e8fa1b13bcd5dfb_XL.jpg)

Better than you think
When Samsung revealed that the new-gen Galaxy Note5 would have only a 3000mAh battery, many of us wondered what it had been smoking.

After all there are few 2015 flagship which would dream of leaving the factory with anything less than, the 3220mAh battery than the Note 4 had. After all, 3000mAh is an eight per cent drop in battery capacity .
Now it seems that there is method in Samsung's madness. Battery tests conducted by PhoneArena (http://www.phonearena.com/phones/benchmarks) to compare the Note5 and the Note 4 show that the Note5 does better despite having a smaller capacity battery.
The tests also involve some other phones including the Sony Xperia Z3, the Galaxy S6 edge+ and more. The plus side of having a smaller capacity battery are lower charging durations, which also reflect in the benchmark tests.

Samsung Galaxy Note5 to have a dual-SIM version

http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/311df85c100377c6d305579961887306_L.jpg (http://www.fudzilla.com/media/k2/items/cache/311df85c100377c6d305579961887306_XL.jpg)

Already up for pre-order
While it might not get a microSD card support, the new Galaxy Note5 will have a dual-SIM version.

The info comes from Philippines, where the actual dual-SIM Note5 was E Price Taiwan (http://www.eprice.com.tw/mobile/talk/4523/4948884/1/rv/samsung-galaxy-note-5-64gb-review/) site and picked up by Androidcommunity.com (http://androidcommunity.com/leaked-pictures-show-galaxy-note-5-dual-sim-with-no-microsd-20150816/). A picture of the dual-SIM Galaxy Note5 with two standard nano-SIM slots ends the earlier rumors regarding a microSD card support on the Galaxy Note5. Samsung will be sticking to its integrated UFS 2.0 storage.
Earlier today there was some positive information regarding the Note5 battery, which while smaller than the one in that Galaxy Note 4, actually has a higher battery life.
Unfortunately, Samsung has decided to launch the Galaxy Note5 in North America and Asia regions while it is now looking unlikely that Europe will get it before next year.

Galaxy Note 5 Drop Test – Fares Worse Than iPhone 6, Better Than Galaxy S6

The Galaxy Note 5 is Samsung’s latest flagship phablet to make an entry into the market, and the company has high hopes that it would deliver in places where the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge failed to. While there are a ton of new features under the hood, coupled with an all-new design, the big question in everyone’s mind is: how well does the device fare when it comes face to face with concrete? A newly published video aims to answer that question and even compares the results with the Galaxy S6, iPhone 6 and the HTC One M9.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/Screen-Shot-2015-08-18-at-8.02.02-PM-635x354.png
If you’re thinking at this point that the Galaxy Note 5 is as tough as it looks, then you will be thoroughly disappointed to learn that it’s not, and by a huge margin, which makes it even more disappointing. In fact, it only just fares better than the Galaxy S6, but absolutely falls to shame when compared to the iPhone 6, and the HTC One M9. In fact, the HTC One M9 is the toughest of all these devices, all thanks to its solid aluminum construction.
The Galaxy S6 is no superman material phone, and upon hitting concrete, Samsung’s flagship from earlier this year died in an instant, with shattered front and back glass. But sadly, the same case follows with the Galaxy Note 5. If you’re thinking to buy the Korean phablet flagship then you have to very much promise yourself that you will never ever drop the phone on concrete. Either that, or always wrap your investment around a protective case.
The video by PhoneBuff is just over four minutes long, and we recommend that you check it out in its entirety and see how the device performs in a controlled drop test.

[video=youtube;Od3UWz9gdk8]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Od3UWz9gdk8

Long story short: if you’re getting a Galaxy Note 5 and have a knack for dropping your gadgets, then be sure to invest in a decent enough case to protect your investment, otherwise you’ll end up with a shattered piece of glass.
The Galaxy Note 5 is a big release for Samsung because the company has a lot riding on it, mainly because the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge failed to do wonders like the Korean giant hoped it would.
The Galaxy Note 5 goes on sale on August 21st and is available in multiple storage and color options and is packed to the rafters with a ton of great features, and if you want to read all about it, then be sure to check out: Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Announced: Specs, Features, Price, Release Date (http://wccftech.com/samsung-launches-galaxy-note-5/).

DisplayMate says Galaxy Note 5 has the 'best smartphone display' ever

Samsung has only just unveiled its new Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+ handsets (http://www.tweaktown.com/news/47030/samsung-announces-galaxy-note-5-s6-edge-smartphones/index.html), but DisplayMate has put them both under the test awarding the new Galaxy Note 5 with some serious praise for its display.

image: http://imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/4/7/47132_03_displaymate-galaxy-note-5-best-smartphone-display.jpg (http://www.tweaktown.com/image.php?image=imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/4/7/47132_03_displaymate-galaxy-note-5-best-smartphone-display_full.jpg)
http://imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news/4/7/47132_03_displaymate-galaxy-note-5-best-smartphone-display.jpg

Most people would think that the display on the Galaxy Note 5 being the same size and resolution, would not be that much of an upgrade, but DisplayMate says quite the opposite. President of DisplayMate, Dr. Raymond M. Soneria, said that the Galaxy Note 5 is the best performing smartphone display the company has ever tested.

The display in the Galaxy Note 5 breaks new records in various categories, including highest absolute color accuracy, peak brightness, and highest contrast rating in ambient light, and that's not even all of the categories the display in the Note 5 wins in. The new Galaxy S6 edge+ was also given some praise, with Soneira saying that the fact that the flexible plastic substrate used in the dual-edge display is now essentially the same as traditional glass substrate.

Upcoming OmniVision Camera Sensors Will Put Galaxy Note 5’s Camera Sensor To Shame

OmniVision, which is regarded as the second largest smartphone camera sensor maker in the world has announced two upcoming smartphone camera sensors. The better performing one might have a maximum image capturing resolution of 13 MP, but it will still be able to put your Samsung’s Galaxy Note 5 camera sensor to shame because of one primary reason.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/195_CMOS_Image_Sensor-635x477.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/195_CMOS_Image_Sensor.jpg)
OmniVision OV13880 Has The Capability To Record 4K Videos At An Astonishing 60 FPSAccording to Unifore (http://www.unifore.net/company-highlights/omnivision-launched-ov13880-and-ov5880-camera-image-sensors.html), both smartphone camera sensors from OmniVision will appear in handsets from 2016. While majority of high-end Android smartphones are able to capture 4K footage at an astounding 30 FPS, none of them have been able to cross that frame rate limit, until the efforts of OmniVision came in to play. The company had been confirmed to be acquired by a Chinese firm (http://wccftech.com/omnivision-acquired-by-hua-capital-management/), so it is highly possible that we will see more camera sensors from this tech firm in Chinese OEM’s handsets as compared to Sony’s camera sensors.

Coming to the specifications of both OmniVision OV13880 and OmniVision OV5880, they have been detailed below:
OV13880

1/2.4″ 13 MP Stacked PureCel-S Sensor
4-micron Pixels, 1/2.4″ sensor size (same size as other 21 MP camera sensors)
PDAF + 240Hz two-dimensional contrast AF
Buried Color Filter Array (similar to Samsung’s ISOCELL technology)
Capable of recording 4K videos at 60 FPS, along with recording 1080p vides at 240 FPS
OmniVision Clear Pixel 2.0 technology (Red-Clear-Blue-Clear Color Filter Array)

OV5880

1/4″ 5 MP Stacked PureCel-S Sensor
4-micron Pixels, 1/4″ sensor size (same size as other 8 MP camera sensors)
PDAF + 120Hz two-dimensional contrast AF
Buried Color Filter Array (similar to Samsung’s ISOCELL technology)
Capable of recording UHD or 1440p videos at 60 FPS, along with recording 1080p vides at 120 FPS
Optional EIS when capturing photos/videos in 16:9 instead of 4:3
OmniVision Clear Pixel 2.0 technology (Red-Clear-Blue-Clear Color Filter Array)

OmniVision has not stated as to when can we see these powerful sensors in smartphones, but it looks like Sony and Samsung; the only other two companies that have a fierce rivalry with OmniVision, will be looking very closely on how to top this. After all, it is not just about megapixels anymore, it also depends on the quality of the sensor itself.

Galaxy Note 5 Has A Serious Design Flaw As Far As Its S Pen Slot Is Concerned

Irrespective of the fact that Galaxy Note 5 is a very impressive mobile computing machine, future and current owners of the smartphone should be aware of how serious the design flaw of the S Pen slot of the device is. Several reports have unearthed information, stating that incorrectly placing the S Pen in to the stylus of Galaxy Note 5 will result in severe consequences.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/Galaxy-Note5_back-with-spen_Black-Sapphire-635x9941-635x994.jpg
Inserting S Pen Incorrectly Can Render Galaxy Note 5 Stylus Detection Feature And Functions UselessThat is correct, Android handset owners. According to the latest report, reinserting the Note 5’s S Pen back in to the smartphone’s housing the wrong way can permanently disable the handset’s stylus detection feature. For example, if you happen to be taking notes using the S Pen and if you insert it incorrectly, that function might no longer work for you. In addition, automatically accessing the S Pen’s radial menu might no longer work as well.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hehbSG3h3wU

There is a video in which an individual belonging to Android Police (http://www.androidpolice.com/2015/08/24/video-probable-note-5-design-flaw-can-cause-s-pen-to-break-pen-detection-when-inserted-backward-or-get-hopelessly-stuck/) carries out the process to show the public on how serious the issue is. We recommend that you watch this video a couple of times in order to see how you are not supposed to put the S Pen back inside the housing of your Galaxy Note 5. Despite the fact that smartphone is loaded with ‘top of the line’ hardware and features, it is disappointing that Samsung overlooked this part of its rigorous product testing phase.

This goes to show you that each and every company must test out each and every corner of the product in order to ensure that consumers are not going to suffer at the other end after spending a ridiculous amount of money on a flagship smartphone. To top all this, Galaxy Note 5 does not feature a removable battery, or a MicroSD card slot, both of which were present in the company’s Galaxy Note 4. We hope that Samsung speaks up regarding this issue and hopefully, provide their loyal phalanx of customers some compensation related to this flaw.

If you’ve ever bought a flagship Samsung Galaxy handset in the past, then you’ll be acquainted to the fact that the Korean company doesn’t shy away from giving away tons of freebies to its customers, that can be worth up to a few hundred dollars in market value. With the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge+ now on sale, Samsung is giving away a bunch of freebies yet again, and we have the complete list of what you’ll be getting this time around.

For instance, as part of its ‘Galaxy Gifts’ bundle, the company is giving away 100GB of OneDrive storage for two years absolutely free, which would otherwise set you back $48. And if you’re asking us, that’s a pretty killer deal, considering how users usually stick with a flagship smartphone for two years tops.
Apart from the OneDrive offer, Samsung is throwing in a bunch of goodies for readers and gamers alike. And instead of us going through what’s on offer, here’s the screen grab directly from Samsung’s Galaxy Gifts page.
Galaxy Note 5http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/Note-5-635x673.png (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/Note-5.png)

With the release of the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge+, it’s a clear sign that Samsung wants to push the boundaries of what it’s capable of doing. And with the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge not being the star hit the company had hoped them to be, there’s a lot riding on the two larger handsets to come out of South Korea.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/Screen-Shot-2015-08-25-at-9.57.22-PM-635x305.png
Samsung has been in hot waters for a long, long time, especially when it comes to using plastic as the material of choice in its flagship lineup of devices. With the release of the Galaxy S6, the company took a tight turn for the better, hoping to push things back to where they originally were. And to make sure that happens, Samsung is giving away a bunch of great goodies with its Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge+, to further entice customers towards its ecosystem.
Also keep one thing in mind, all of the above mentioned freebies are subject to change and may or may not be available in every region. So keep that in mind before you shower yourself in rage after buying Samsung’s flagship phablets.

Galaxy Note 5 Vs iPhone 6 – Apple’s Smartphone Crushes Samsung In Performance – Video

On paper, the Galaxy Note 5 (http://wccftech.com/samsung-launches-galaxy-note-5/) is one hell of a beastly smartphone. Packed to the rafters with the latest in mobile tech and topped off with 4GB of RAM, the device is an absolutely beast. But what happens when you pit Samsung’s latest flagship with Apple’s smartphone from 2014 – the iPhone 6? One YouTuber decided to do just that, and of course, Apple’s smartphone steamrolls Samsung’s phablet in the performance department quite miserably.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/Galaxy-Note5_left-with-spen_Silver-Titanium-635x953.jpg
Apple has an added advantage of forging its owning hardware and software so that both can work in perfect harmony, something which the Cupertino giant is absolutely proud of, and misses no chance to advertise the fact in a number of places, with its latest ‘if it’s not an iPhone, it’s not an iPhone’ campaign a big testament to that.
Samsung on the other hand, relies big time on massive numbers on the spec sheet. And this time around, the Korean giant went all out with the Note 5, packing it with a mighty Exynos 7420 chip topped off with an incredible 4GB of RAM. But does that make the Note 5 superior than the iPhone 6 from last year? The big answer to that question is NO.
Check out the video below and see how the iPhone 6 walks all over the Galaxy Note 5 in terms of performance.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymDVr1gMEIQ

Like we mentioned before, Apple has the advantage of optimizing its own software for its very own hardware. Both are designed in holy matrimony, and works like a charm even on older hardware. Samsung on the other hand has to make do with Android, which is an open source OS from Google, and matters are made worse when the Korean giant decides to throw some of its own customizations into the mix in the form of its custom launcher and UI alterations, something which takes a toll on the overall performance of the smartphone.
We really wished Samsung would release vanilla Android iterations of its flagship smartphones, giving users more choice in terms of the operating system which they would like to use. After all, Samsung is already known for gadget spamming the tech space by releasing a ton of hardware one after the other, but a stock Android running smartphone might just be the way to go if the company wants to properly utilize its epic hardware. But sadly enough, Samsung tried that as well, with the Galaxy S4 being offered as a Play Store Edition device running stock Android, and the device vanished from the shelves, signaling towards the fact that the consumer community does not want such a device.
What do you think about the performance video above? Do you think justice is done to the Galaxy Note 5? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.

Samsung Tells Users To RTFM To Avoid Damaging Galaxy Note 5 Stylus Silo

Earlier this morning, we brought you news that Samsung (http://hothardware.com/tags/samsung)’s brand new Galaxy Note 5 can be easily damaged (http://hothardware.com/news/samsung-under-fire-over-s-pen-design-flaw-that-could-break-your-galaxy-note-5) by the simple action of inserting the S Pen (stylus) in backwards. In previous iterations of Galaxy Note series (including the Galaxy Note Edge (http://hothardware.com/tags/galaxy-note-edge)), it was not possible to insert the stylus into the device backwards. However, the design of the Galaxy Note 5’s S Pen allows it to easily be inserted “blunt end” first, which causes it to become stuck.
Once this happens, one of two things is bound to happen: 1) the S Pen will become permanently wedged into the device or 2) if you do manage to retrieve the errant S Pen, removing it breaks Galaxy Note 5’s pen detection. This means the Galaxy Note 5 can’t tell if the S Pen is in or out of the device and it won’t make the nifty “swish” sound when the S Pen is ejected.

http://hothardware.com/ContentImages/NewsItem/34830/content/small_note-5-and-s6-edge-plus-3.JPG (http://hothardware.com/gallery/NewsItem/34830?image=big_note-5-and-s6-edge-plus-3.jpg&tag=popup)

We figured it wouldn’t be long before Samsung would issue a response given how quickly the story has gained traction. And despite what appears to be a real design flaw with the Galaxy Note 5, Samsung has issued a statement to the BBC which in a polite way says that users simply need to RTFM, “We highly recommend our Galaxy Note 5 users follow the instructions in the user guide to ensure they do not experience such an unexpected scenario caused by reinserting the S-Pen in the other way around."

http://hothardware.com/ContentImages/NewsItem/34830/content/small_galaxy_note_5_manual.jpg (http://hothardware.com/gallery/NewsItem/34830?image=big_galaxy_note_5_manual.jpg&tag=popup)

We decided to follow Samsung’s advice, and low and behold on page 25 (http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/UM/201508/20150821044210180/VZW_SM-N920V_Galaxy-Note5_EN_UM_LL_5.1_OGE_FINAL.pdf) [PDF] there’s a warning regarding the S Pen:

Warning: Be sure to insert your S Pen with the nib pointed inward. Inserting the S Pen the wrong way can cause it to become stuck and can damage the pen and your phone.
At least we know that Samsung was well aware of the issue before shipping the Galaxy Note 5, but it still doesn’t explain why the company allowed it to be so easy to damage the device with an improperly inserted S Pen.

Samsung Mocks iPhone In Its New ‘It’s Not A Phone, It’s A Galaxy’ Ad Campaign

Apple kicked off its ‘If it’s not an iPhone, it’s not an iPhone’ TV ad campaign a while back in which the Cupertino giant takes no shame in highlighting the fact that its smartphone and its underlying hardware and software are made for one another. And to counter Apple’s ad campaign, Samsung has launched a new movement of its own, which it calls ‘It’s not a Phone, It’s a Galaxy.’
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Screen-Shot-2015-09-11-at-8.40.43-PM-635x338.png
The new Samsung TV spot, which is meant to highlight the Galaxy Note 5 (http://wccftech.com/samsung-launches-galaxy-note-5/) and Galaxy S6 Edge+’s (http://wccftech.com/samsung-galaxy-s6-edge-2/) wireless charging capabilities, takes a jab at Apple’s iPhone for the lack of said feature.
Check out the ad below and see for yourself what Samsung’s new TV ad entails.

<iframe width="635" height="388" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/tgmhi0Vi9oo" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

We have to give Samsung an A+ for their effort though, as they’ve gotten their point across quite well. Admit it, having wireless charging capabilities on an iPhone can go a long way in saving us a lot of trouble, especially when it comes to caring for wires and whatnot. Simply rest your phone on a charging pad and voila, you’re done. No fiddling with cables whatsoever.
While Samsung’s marketing arm is always on the offensive side of the fence, it’s strange how the company has lost a lot of flair in the eye of the consumer lately. For instance, the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge were devices from the South Korean giant that broke the shackles of plastic and dived straight into the world of premium materials, but that didn’t help the company to boost sales at all. In fact, Samsung was forced to cut down the price of its flagship Galaxy devices in order to appeal to the consumer. And if that wasn’t enough panic from the company’s side, Samsung even rushed out and announced the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ way before Apple’s flagships, the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.
Will Samsung be able to take down Apple this time around? Given the company’s situation and how it has found itself in hot waters lately, we double that will happen. But that doesn’t mean that the Korean giant should give up on its efforts.
What is your take on Samsung’s new ‘It’s not a Phone, It’s a Galaxy’ ad campaign? Do you think the Korean giant’s new marketing strategy can turn the company’s fortunes around? Share your honest thoughts and opinions with us in the comments section below.

Android Marshmallow For Galaxy Note 5 Leaked, System Dump Available To Download

Samsung has jumped the gun, and has by mistake, pushed out Android Marshmallow to one Galaxy Note 5 user a bit early. Apart from that, the system dump of the leaked build is available to download immediately.

Samsung Pushes Out Android Marshmallow Early For One Note 5 User At this current point in time, there’s no clear word when Android Marshmallow would arrive for the Galaxy Note 5. But if a leaked timetable is anything to go by, then we should expect Google’s latest mobile goodness to arrive some time in December, but of course, that timeframe could change. However, Samsung might have pushed out things a little too early for one user, as Marshmallow arrived on his smartphone ahead of schedule. Strangely enough, the user didn’t even pull off any sort of trick to get the update either. It just arrived on its own.
But, the update arriving early for one user is not the interesting bit. Instead, the user was kind enough to post screenshots of the build itself on XDA as well as the entire system dump of the update. Now, while the system dump is available for everyone to download, we do not recommend doing anything with it just yet as flashing it onto your device may (possibly) brick it to smithereens. We suggest holding back for now, although we are aware how tempting it is to flash unreleased firmware onto a flagship device.
Here are the screenshots showing Marshmallow running on a Galaxy Note 5.

As you can see from the screenshots, Samsung made some tweaks to how TouchWiz actually looks. In some instances, it looks more refined, but you can’t ignore the fact that it is, after all, TouchWiz, at the end of the day. But still, it’s good to see that Samsung is taking steps in the right direction.
Apart from TouchWiz itself, the build screams Marshmallow in a lot of places, for example the permissions boxes, and of course, the Marshmallow logo itself.
Android Marshmallow will take a while to reach our devices depending on carrier and region. After all, Samsung has to squeeze in bloatware onboard, making sure that it doesn’t fall short in terms of junk software. Face it, that day is far off where we would be able to pick up a device directly from the carrier itself without any traces of bloatware on it. And when that day does come, we’re certain a new complication would arise.
If you’re looking to download the system dump of the firmware, then simply hit the source link below.

Samsung Brings The Bling With Note 5 In Gold Platinum, Now Available At All Four Major Wirless Carriers

If "gold is best," as we've been told in a hilarious skit that appeared on Conan O'Brien, then what is Gold Platinum? Whatever the answer, it's the new color option Samsung (http://hothardware.com/tags/samsung) splashed on its Galaxy Note 5 (http://hothardware.com/tags/galaxy-note-5) just in time for the holiday shopping season, and it's now widely available at AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon.

Previously the Galaxy Note 5 was only available in "Black Sapphire" and "White Pearl," at least in the U.S. Samsung's pitch for the new Gold Platinum version is that it "provides a stylish, sophisticated way to bring new, dazzling color into your mobile life." We won't argue that point.

http://hothardware.com/ContentImages/NewsItem/35774/content/Samsung_Galaxy_Note_5_Gold_Platinum.jpg

There are reports around the web that Samsung will also bring "Titanium Silver" and "Pink Gold" color options to the Galaxy Note 5 in the near future in the U.S., and a gallery of photos on the phone's product page seem to confirm this.

No matter which color you choose, the Galaxy Note 5 is a nifty phablet (check out our review (http://hothardware.com/reviews/samsung-galaxy-note5-and-s6-edge-reviews?page=8) for a thorough analysis). To recap, it wields a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a 2560x1440 resolution, Exynos 7420 Octa-Core SoC, 4GB of RAM, up to 128GB of built-in storage, 5MP front shooter, 16MP rear camera, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, NFC, and a capacious 3,000 mAh battery.

If the specs are the same, does color really matter? Not in terms of performance, but it does seem to be important to consumers. Apple's Rose Gold color option for its iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus proved especially popular (http://hothardware.com/news/with-apple-iphone-6s-pre-orders-underway-plus-and-rose-gold-models-prove-popular) among buyers and helped drive record sales. We'll have to see if the additional color choices for the Galaxy Note 5 lead to a bump in shipments for Samsung, too.

Galaxy Note 5 No Longer Breaks When S-Pen Is Inserted Incorrectly

We reported a long time back that despite Galaxy Note 5’s impressive hardware and updated TouchWiz features, the smartphone had a serious design flaw (http://wccftech.com/galaxy-note-5-has-a-serious-design-flaw-as-far-as-its-s-pen-slot-is-concerned/) when its S-Pen accessory was concerned. We have posted a video below showing how you could permanently disable the handset’s stylus detection feature. After taking note of the issue, it appears that the high-end phablet no longer suffers from this problem, as you will find out shortly.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/Galaxy-Note-5-635x994.jpg
Galaxy Note 5 Pen-Gate Flaw No Longer An Issue, As Shown In The Image Previously, if you were taking notes from your S-Pen accessory and you inserted the accessory back into the device incorrectly (incorrectly means inserting the flat head first with the tip sticking on the outside), that function might no longer work for you. In the video posted below, the user did manage to remove the S-Pen after using an excessive amount of strength and while his efforts did result in removing the accessory, it did render the handy feature completely useless. Now, according to Phandroid, Samsung started working on new PCB and incorporated a much safer detection mechanism in order to prevent users from running into this problem once more.

<iframe width="635" height="388" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/hehbSG3h3wU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

The switch, which you can will be able to see in the image below, has a greyish white tab has been designed to allow you to safely eject the S-Pen when it’s inserted backwards. According to the source, the feature now works flawlessly and despite the fact that the particular area is covered by a green adhesive tape, it definitely pays to be safe rather than sorry. The previous design, which featured a small black tab as you can see on the right circuit board did not offer users the much needed safety, which is the reason why the problem used to occur in the first place.

If Samsung had tested out such an issue in the first place, it would have prevented the company from wasting additional monetary resources in manufacturing a whole new bunch of new motherboards for Galaxy Note 5. Regardless, we are glad that Samsung has admitted that it was unaware of the issue and ensured that it would be taking responsibility and making amends. Several manufacturers do not offer after sales support that is required so dearly, but we are glad that the South Korean tech giant caters to the needs of its loyal consumer base.

After all, shelling out a ton of money of a flagship phablet is definitely not for the faint of heart, particular when the smartphone costs $600 for the 32GB model (http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=as_li_ss_tl?_encoding=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&field-keywords=Galaxy%20Note%205&linkCode=ur2&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3AGalaxy%20Note%205&tag=wwwxiaomitoda-20&url=search-alias%3Daps&linkId=X77EWLUBHZYC5YX3)https://ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com/e/ir?t=wwwxiaomitoda-20&l=ur2&o=1. It might feature one of the best smartphone displays for 2015, but for a premium priced smartphone, we hope that Samsung thoroughly checks its high-end products more carefully.

Samsung is changing the Galaxy Note 5's internal design to fix the stuck S Pen issues

http://www.techspot.com/images2/news/bigimage/2016/01/2016-01-19-image-2.jpg

In August last year, reports (http://www.techspot.com/news/61882-galaxy-note-5-design-flaw-could-cause-irreparable.html) surfaced about a flaw in Samsung’s Galaxy Note 5 that could permanently disable some of the smartphone's functions. The problem came when users accidently inserted the device’s stylus into its slot the wrong way round; a mistake that was easier to make with the Note 5 as, unlike earlier models, the S Pen offered the same amount of resistance no matter which way it was replaced.
Those who did insert their stylus’ into the Note 5 the wrong way round would find that the S Pen would get stuck once it passed a certain point. It could be freed with a little force, but doing so would likely physically damage the handset, meaning it would no longer be able to detect whether or not the stylus was attached.
Initially, Samsung advised owners to “read the manual,” before adding extra instructions to the Note 5’s packaging. But it seems that the company has now issued a simple but effective solution for all new Note 5s.
First spotted by an anonymous Phandroid (http://phandroid.com/2016/01/18/galaxy-note-5-s-pen-fix/) reader, the fix uses a piece of flexible plastic that covers an internal switch, acting as a ramp for the stylus. Now, instead of the incorrectly-inserted S Pen catching on the switch, the plastic will press it down as the thinner part of the stylus passes over it.
Samsung confirmed this design change to The Verge: "Samsung can confirm that the Note 5 internal S Pen mechanism has been changed to avoid the issue caused by inserting the S Pen incorrectly," said the company. "As always, we recommend following proper instructions for storing the S Pen."
While all new Note 5s will ship with this fix, Samsung not has said if it will be offering the solution to existing owners of the handset. So if you do currently own a Note 5, make sure you put the stylus back in the right way round.

Leaked Images Show Galaxy Note 5 Running Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow

Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge have started receiving the Android 6 Marshmallow (http://wccftech.com/top-marshmallow-custom-rom-choices/) updates. However, the more latest Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 edge+ are still to get the same love from Korean tech giant.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Galaxy-Note-5-635x374.png
Galaxy Note 5 Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow leaked images: There is no official word about when we’d be seeing Samsung’s Galaxy Note 5 and S6 edge+ receiving the latest firmware updates. Samsung was apparently working on the OS release for both these devices along with the Samsung Galaxy S6 duo (http://wccftech.com/android-6-0-for-galaxy-s6-and-s6-edge/), as leaked images show Galaxy Note 5 running Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. As you can see in the screenshots, the user interface looks similar to the Marshmallow looks on Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge. The minimal design, white and blue status bar are quite visible in these otherwise hazy images.
These Galaxy Note 5 Android 6 Marshmallow images have been posted by the folks at Sammobile (http://www.sammobile.com/2016/02/09/pictures-heres-a-samsung-galaxy-note-5-running-android-6-0-1/) who share that according to their source, “the phone feels smoother after the update.” While there is no news as to when we would be seeing this update finally rolling out to Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+ devices, several other Android devices are receiving the update.

In the good news for those in Poland, Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge (http://wccftech.com/fix-galaxy-s6-battery-issues/) will soon start receiving Marshmallow on their devices. Back in the United States, AT&T has started pushing out Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to LG G4. LG G4 users on T-Mobile already received the update earlier this month. If you are on these devices and haven’t received the OTA notification, you can always check which updates are available to you from About Phone > Update Center > System Updates > Check for Updates.
While Google is trying to push (http://wccftech.com/googles-passive-aggressive-trick-to-improve-android-security/) its manufacturing and carrier partners to roll out software updates soon, so far its efforts have met nothing but disappointment. Official usage statistics in January revealed a shocking adoption rate for the newest version of the mobile operating system. Android Marshmallow, after three months of its having been launched, is only on 0.7 percent of devices. These reports continue to make it clear that despite Google and manufacturer’s promises of sending out timely updates, users are still using outdated firmware versions on their Android devices. Looking at the fact that it has taken months for Samsung to release the latest OS version to the current high-end devices makes it clear that there are no signs of Android fragmentation abating.
