Asustek kicks Apple to death
While Apple users have to charge their watches before they get home from work, the Asustek Zenwatch 2 is boasting a four day battery life.

The Taiwanese electronics maker has been showing off a prototype of what will be the follow-up to its $199 ZenWatch. It did not mention specs, pricing and availability, saying the device hasn't been finalised yet.
It is a better looking version of the Apple iWatch but has a metal crown and is designed to be a fashion accessory and has a 49mm version for men and a slightly smaller version for women,
There will be three stainless steel case colours with 18 different strap and colour combinations. The swipeable touch display is made from scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass 3 and the entire device is water-resistant.
Powered by Android Wear, the ZenWatch 2 will have a magnetic cable charger that locks into the back of the case, much like an Apple MagSafe power connector.
The watch, which already far outlasted the iWatch will have roughly double the battery life of its predecessor, and a charge will power the device for three to four days.
There is also an optional battery which attaches to the back of the case, fitting between the watch's underside and the user's wrist. This add-on could give the watch another half-day of juice.
The remote camera function of the first-generation watch, which shows the camera view from a paired smartphone, now works faster and can switch from the phone's front and rear cameras. It can also zoom in and out.
We are expecting the new watch out in the third quarter.

ASUS’ Android-Wear Powered ZenWatch Sees Hefty $50 Price Cut And $10 Promo Gift At Newegg

One of the more elegant looking smartwatches (http://hothardware.com/tags/smartwatch) on the market is the ZenWatch by ASUS (http://hothardware.com/news/asus-unveils-stylish-zenwatch-memo-pad-7-core-m-zenbook-ux305-eeebook-x205-at-ifa). At this point, the first generation model isn't long for this world as ASUS (http://hothardware.com/tags/asus) preps a ZenWatch 2 (http://hothardware.com/news/asus-zenwatch-2-unwinds-with-two-sizes-more-colors-and-digital-crown), but if you favor price and bang-for-buck over cutting edge features, now is the time to strike -- Newegg just knocked $50 off the price of the original ZenWatch, bringing the cost of ownership down to $150.

That's $200 less than the least expensive Apple Watch, and while that's a bit of an apples to oranges comparison (or Apple to Android), it's something to think about if you're platform agnostic. Yes, the original ZenWatch is about to become a last generation product, but it's also a solid offering that's not even a year old in the smartwatch space (ASUS unveiled the wearable in September 2014).

The ZenWatch runs Google's Android Wear, a customized version of Android built specifically for wearable devices. It can pair with any smartphone running Android 4.3 or later. It has a 1.63-inch display (320x320) protected with Gorilla Glass 3, 2.5D curved glass, Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.2GHz, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, a nine-axis sensor, biometric monitor, Bluetooth 4.0, and a 1.4Whr battery.

So, what do you give up by going with a ZenWatch rather than waiting for a ZenWatch 2? The next generation model will look similar to the original but have a slimmer frame, a magnetic charger, and a new digital crown. It's also likely to have upgraded hardware, though ASUS hasn't revealed the full spec sheet yet.

If you're interested in the ZenWatch at $150, just head to Newegg (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16886320001) and add it to your card. As a bonus, you'll also receive a $10 Newegg gift card.
