HTC One ME Is World’s First Smartphone Running Helio X10 SoC

Taiwanese smartphone manufacturing firm HTC is not letting up from releasing more smartphones. Despite facing overwhelming odds from rising Chinese tech companies such as Xiaomi (http://wccftech.com/xiaomi-holds-25-percent-wearable-market-share-reports/), HTC has just managed to announce another handset called One ME. The primary difference separating this smartphone from the others is that One ME features MediaTek Helio X10, effectively making the device the first ever handset to sport the company’s octa-core SoC. In case you are not familiar with what Helio X10 is running inside, the chipset features ARM’s Cortex-A53 octa-core CPU that is running at a clock speed of 2.2 GHz. The handset also packs additional goodies underneath its hood, if you care to read on.

HTC One ME Is Loaded With 3 GB Of RAM, 5.2 Inch QHD Display And Provides Support For A 2 TB MicroSD Card Helio X10 shortens the performance gap created between MediaTek’s Helio P10 (http://wccftech.com/mediatek-announces-helio-p10-octacore-processor-malit860-gpu/) and Helio X20 (http://wccftech.com/mediateks-helio-x20/). The chipset might be void of ARM’s Cortex-A72 (http://wccftech.com/16nm-finfet-4k-120-fps-arms-latest-cortex-a72/) cores, but it is still able to hold its own against the raging competition by having all eight of its Cortex-A53 cores clocked up to 2.2 GHz. Cortex-A57 (http://wccftech.com/huawei-details-performance-kirin-930-cortexa53e-cores-superior-performance/) cores were omitted from Helio X10, which isn’t surprising at all.
While Cortex-A53 will be the primary contributor in the performance department, One ME is also assimilated with 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of on-board storage and a 5.2 inch screen that radiates a crisp 1440p display.
HTC has upgraded its MicroSD storage expansion flexibility in comparison to devices such as One M9 and One M9+ (http://wccftech.com/htcs-m9-sales-suffer-snapdragon-810-blame/). Where the previous two handsets only limited to a 128 GB storage card, One ME can accommodate up to 2 terabytes, which is clearly an overkill, since the highest capacity present in a MicroSD card is 200 GB, courtesy of SanDisk (http://www.androidcentral.com/sandisks-new-200gb-microsd-card-brings-massive-storage-tiny-size).

Other components present in the smartphone include a 4G LTE modem, Bluetooth 4.0 module and an 802.11 ac Wi-Fi adapter. The 20 MP rear camera sensor can capture 4K videos, while the front facing panel is incorporated with a 4 UltraPixel camera. Similar to the company’s Snapdragon 810 running One M9, One ME runs a 2,840 mAh cell, and for added security, a fingerprint scanner is present in the home button right below the 5.2 inch panel.
Unfortunately, just like regionally exclusive handsets like Butterfly J (http://wccftech.com/htc-butterfly-j-confirmed-japan-snapdragon-810-20-mp-camera/), One ME will remain limited to the Chinese markets, unless of course HTC starts to witness a boom in sales, which we are certain is not going to happen anytime soon.
Availability and pricing details have not been stated on HTC’s website (http://www.htc.com/cn/smartphones/htc-one-me/), but you can rest assured that it will definitely be blowing a hole in your wallet should you decide to purchase it.
