Huawei Kirin 950 SoC Specs Officially Confirmed; Launching Very Soon
With 2015 already going in to its second half, we have received more information concerning Chinese phone maker Huawei’s homegrown mobile flagship chipset, Kirin 950 (http://wccftech.com/huaweis-kirin-helluva-phone/). From the looks of it, the chipset looks to be an absolute power house and the details presented below will indicate why we believe that way.

Say Goodbye To Cortex-A53, Say Hello To Cortex-A72 On Kirin 950 According to Chinese tech website Mobile-Dad (http://www.mobile-dad.com/a/285/13960.html), Kirin 950 is going to be loaded with Cortex-A72. Cortex-A72 will deliver much needed performance as compared to Cortex-A57, and from what we have seen from Snapdragon 620 in leaked benchmarking results (http://wccftech.com/cortexa72-running-snapdragon-620-scores-impressive-results/), Cortex-A72 is not something to be trifled with. Kirin 950 will comprise up of one quad-core Cortex-A72 and one Cortex-A53. According to the specification sheet, the clock speed of the higher performing processor will go up to 2.4 GHz.
However, the sheet left out one important detail; if all four cores are going to be running at the same clock speed or only selective ones. If it is the former, then you can say goodbye to Exynos 7420, because the performance bar will automatically be raised thanks to Kirin 950 and its quad-core chips. Moving on, an ARM Mali-T880 GPU is going to be responsible (http://wccftech.com/arm-cortex-a72-unveiled/) for mobile gaming performance.

Similar to iPhone’s co-processors, Kirin 950 will feature not one, but two of them:
A dedicated DSP audio co-processor called a Tensilica Hi-Fi 4 DSP, to satisfy audio quality and performance.
i7 (not to be confused with Intel’s Core-i7), which will act as a sensor, connectivity, and security hub, and will take care of the less intensive tasks in order to provide more breathing room for the primary octa-core CPU.
Kirin 950 will also be providing support for dual-channel LPDDR4 RAM, UFS 2.0, and eMMC 5.1 storage, and just so you know, these happen to be the latest version amongst their respective categories. Before we forget, smartphone camera aficionados are going to have the time of their lives with future Huawei handsets because Kirin 950 will also support up to a 42 MP camera sensors. Additionally connectivity options include a Category 10 LTE modem, USB 3.0 and last but certainly not least, Bluetooth 4.2.
It is expected that Kirin 950 is going to land during Q4, 2015 and while there is no information on which smartphone is going to sport the chipset, our money will be on Huawei Mate 8. Like always, we will be providing timely updates, so stay tuned for more.
