Warhammer: 40,000 Inquisitor – Martyr, A New ARPG From NeocoreGames

After all these years we finally (http://www.neocoregames.com/w40k-inquisitor/) have a Warhammer: 40,000 action RPG on the way. NeocoreGames will be working very closely with Games Workshop to ensure that this stays true to the original tabletop universe.

Warhammer: 40,000 Inquisitor – Martyr lets you explore the dystopian and violent 41st millennium from a more personal perspective. In true action-RPG fashion, the massive single-player campaign will let players become agents of the ever-vigilant Inquisition, carrying out missions within a secret war among the stars. But the game doesn’t end when you complete the initial campaign. You’ll be able to continue playing in the same secluded sector of this vast universe. This should allow for years of constant entertainment, gradual development and a continuous flow of content that’s the hallmark of the genre.
NeocoreGames is incredibly excited to be able to bring the lore of Warhammer: 40,000 to life in this fashion. They’re committed to creating a vivid characterization of the tabletop RPG.

“There’s a reason why we chose the world of Warhammer 40,000: it’s intense, brutal, visceral – a perfect material for an action RPG. Working with Games Workshop, we’re doing our best to bring a high quality game to the community. We’re huge fans as well, so we care deeply about this game.”
– Zoltán ‘Pozs’ Pozsonyi, Producer, NeocoreGames

Bringing the Warhammer universe to life has never been an easy task with such a large and dedicated fan-base. Games Workshop won’t deny that it’s going to be a monumental task, but it’s one that they’re glad to assist with. This universe is perfect for an action-RPG.

“A Warhammer 40,000 action RPG has been notably absent from our portfolio of video game licenses so far and it’s great to finally be able to talk publicly about this wonderful game that the guys at Neocore have been working so hard on for some time now. Their previous action RPGs are very impressive and we feel privileged to be partnering with them on this game.”
– Jon Gillard, Head of Licensing, Games Workshop
Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr will be coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Mac sometime in 2016.

DX12 Will Allow Game Code to Run Faster for PC/Xbox One, Better Post Processing Effects

Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr is a “persistent sandbox action-RPG” that will set players off “into a grim and secret war among the stars as the agents of the ever-vigilant Inquisition.”
NeoCore Games, the development studio behind The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing, and the upcoming Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor Martyr, in a recent interview with GamingBolt (http://gamingbolt.com/dx12-will-allow-game-code-to-run-faster-on-xbox-onepc-better-post-processing-effects), shared their thoughts on DirectX 12 and the impact it will have in enhancing visuals on both the PC and Xbox One.

“Direct X 12 is not something that allows you to play around with new shiny effects during the development. It’s more of a big, structural development that gives the programmers a lot more opportunity by providing them easier access directly to the GPU,” Producer, Zoltán Pozsonyi explained to GamingBolt. “This means that they’ll have a lot more wiggle room for performance optimization and making the code run faster; if you’re able to squeeze out higher performance out of the GPU, that can be translated into framerate or more beautiful content in the game. DX12 supports asynchtonous compute shaders, which for example allows you to use more and better quality special effects and post process stuff, a lot faster (screen space ambient occlusion, screen space reflection, better quality shadow mapping, transculency, tone mapping).”

Lead Narrative Designer, Viktor Juhász explains the development team’s decision to launch the game on consoles alongside the PC and Mac and the challenges they faced with revamping the engine.

“Consoles have always been on our radar, as you might have heard The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing trilogy is also coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4,”
“The new console generation’s architecture is very similar to the PCs and the machines are also powerful enough, so our biggest challenge is to make the controls feel just as intuitive with controllers, as it is with a keyboard and mouse setup.
In both the PC and console versions we wanted to find the balance between being faithful to the lore and to the requirements of a great ARPG. We had to overcome some serious technological challenges when we decided to revamp the engine. We still have a long way to go, like the creation of the persistent open world.”
NeoCore Games haven’t revealed much in the way of specifics about the game yet, they did state however, that a sandbox mode will be available after the completion of the campaign.

“The single player campaign pitches players into a grim and secret war among the stars as the agents of the ever-vigilant Inquisition. After the end of the campaign the story continues in a colossal sandboxed game set in the same secluded sector of this vast universe. This persistent setting grants years of constant entertainment, gradual development and a continuous flow of content that enriches the Action-RPG gameplay.”

ARPG Warhammer 40K Inquisitor – Martyr Delayed to 2017

http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/warhammer-40k_inquisitor_martyr-635x357.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/warhammer-40k_inquisitor_martyr.jpg)
Among the many games in developments under the Warhammer IP, Warhammer 40K Inquisitor – Martyr might be one of the less known to the public.
This Action RPG is being crafted by Hungarian developer Neocore Games, which has a certain experience with the genre after The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing I, II and III. First announced in July 2015 with a planned release in 2016, we just learned that the game has been delayed to next year: Narrative Designer Viktor Juhasz confirmed as much to Angry Joe at the very end of his video preview (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=if3F_HQgjzU). Juhasz also added that the PC version will launch first, with PlayStation 4 and Xbox One ports due later.
Warhammer 40K Inquisitor – Martyr, as suggested by the title, will allow players to become an Agent of the Emperor’s Inquisition. There will be a full single player campaign with a horror vibe (the protagonist will be on a ghost ship trying to figure out what happened to it), but even more interesting is what the developer is planning beyond the single player.

After the end of the campaign the story continues in a colossal sandboxed game set in the same secluded sector of this vast universe. This persistent setting grants years of constant entertainment, gradual development and a continuous flow of content that enriches the Action-RPG gameplay.
In this sandbox mode of Warhammer 40K Inquisitor Martyr you’ll be able to join up with up to seven friends (for a party of eight players in total) to take on harder challenges, which obviously will yield better loot. While there won’t be a direct PvP mode since Inquisitors don’t really attack each other, Neocore wants to represent the ongoing schemes within the Inquisition by allowing Inquisitors to attack each other’s stronghold. Each Inquisitor will be able to set up challenges (and, we assume, various kinds of traps) for potential invaders.
