Deep within the Shropshire countryside, the village of Yaughton stands empty. Toys lie forgotten in the playground, the wind blows quarantine leaflets around the silent churchyard. Down on Appleton’s farm, crops rustle untended, the early harvest abandoned halfway through. The birds lie where they have fallen. A pair of shoes hang from the overhead wires. The windmill continues to turn unobserved. Strange voices haunt the radio waves as uncollected washing hangs listlessly on the line. There is light in the wires. The televisions are tuned to vacant channels. Above it all, the telescopes of the Observatory point out at dead stars and endless darkness. And someone remains behind, to try and unravel the mystery.
Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture will release exclusively for the PlayStation 4 on August 11 from The Chinese Room and Santa Monica Studios. The game is using the CryEngine (http://wccftech.com/crytek-preparing-demo-e3-good-people/). We will bring you any new information on the game as soon as it becomes available.

Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture Dev: Loved Working On PS4, Would Love To See The Game On PC

Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture just released on PlayStation 4 and so far, both critics and the general public have praised the game created by British developer The Chinese Room.
Co-Studio Head and Creative Director Dan Pinchbeck has been answering questions on the PS4 subreddit (https://www.reddit.com/r/PS4/comments/3glt1z/the_chinese_room_official_ama/) this afternoon, and he dropped a few interesting replies here and there. For instance, he said that while the decision is ultimately Sony’s, he would love to see the game on PC.

That’s not going to be our decision. I’ve love it to come onto PC, I think it’d fit really well
He also confirmed that the team is already at work on a new and “different” game concept.

Yeah, we’re already in concept development for a new game. It’s going to be something pretty different for us.

There’s also a chance to see Dear Esther on PS4 and other platforms, apparently, and The Chinese Room is currently switching engine for that purpose.

Would love to. We’re still working on the port over from Source to Unity. Once that’s done, ports to PS4 and potentially other places becomes a real possibility
Finally, Pinchbeck said that he really enjoyed working on PlayStation 4 for Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture, but he also doesn’t want to abandon PC (all previous games of TCR were released on Windows, Mac & Linux).

loved working on the PS4, lovely bit of hardware that. yep, all good, yep, would do it again, but also keen to not leave PC – we’d definitely like to be working on both console and PC in the future
You can get Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture now from the PlayStation Store (https://store.playstation.com/#%21/en-us/games/everybody%27s-gone-to-the-rapture/cid=UP9000-CUSA02405_00-RAPTURE000000001) for $19/€19 (depending on where you live).

Review: Everybody's Gone To The Rapture

http://images.bit-tech.net/content_images/2015/08/everybodyhasgonetothevelociraptor/everybody-s-gone-to-the-rapture-press-demo_20150810200422-614x250.jpg

Price: £15.99
Developer: The Chinese Room
Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment
Platform: PS4

Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture is stunning. There’s a beauty to the mundane village of Yaughton that has stopped me dead several times and caused me with alarming frequency to spend several minutes trying to position myself just right to catch the perfect screenshot.

I’ve taken nearly a hundred as I’ve traipsed through the sleepy valley that makes up The Chinese Room’s latest walking simulator.

Let’s get one that out of the way: it is a walking simulator, and your interactions are limited to opening doors, looking at stuff, listening to audio logs and occasionally manipulating glowing balls of light to show a scene from shortly before the rapture. That last part is the most awkward interaction in the game with you having to twirl the Sixaxis controller like a baton to get the glowing orbs to spill their secrets, but otherwise it’s a meditative experience.

http://images.bit-tech.net/content_images/2015/08/everybodyhasgonetothevelociraptor/everybody-s-gone-to-the-rapture-press-demo_20150814110800-7--614x250.jpg

If the idea of a walking simulator leaves you cold, this won’t be helped by the games incredibly slow walking speed, which does a good job of forcing you to look at the world around you. I didn’t really encounter any problems with it and there is a gradual sprint button mapped to R2 that didn’t seem to be on any of the controller mappings, but I found myself only using it when I wanted to backtrack. You do move slowly through the world, but I feel it fits with the pacing.

You’ve got all the time you need, though, the village is totally deserted. If not the rapture, everybody has gone somewhere. The game doesn’t ask you to decipher the mystery, or ask you to do anything at all, but there’s a bouncing trail of light coyly floating around on the highway that’ll slowly take you where you need to go to in order to pick up a few hints. If you want to run down the first alley you can see, that’s an option too. This kind of fragmented storytelling reminds me somewhat of Her Story although instead of searching lists of words you’re sneaking through woods and into houses.

In my very first interview as a journalist I was talking to a former town mayor, looking around I saw that he had a full collection of Jeffrey Archer books on a shelf and that he unplugged his TV at the wall when he wasn’t using it. Those details felt like secrets I shouldn’t know, somehow illicit. Traipsing through this abandoned village gives me that same feeling: From discovering the hospital bed with a comfy chair next to it secreted in a character’s spare room. Later I seeing the rock where as a teenager he scratched his initials alongside those of his future wife, there’s an intimacy here, a relationship with this now-vanished characters that goes deeper than a couple of audio logs.

Toda a review:

PS4 Exclusive Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture’s PC Port Leaked In AMD Crimson Driver Update

It seems like the well-received PlayStation 4 exclusive title Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture may soon not remain an exclusive after all. Following rumors that took off back in January when the game cropped in a Steam database, AMD may have just confirmed the PC port of Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture first-person adventure video game via the release notes for its latest Radeon Software Crimson Edition 16.3.2 graphics drivers. (http://wccftech.com/amd-crimson-16-3-2-vr-driver/)

Graphically-Stunning PS4 Exclusive Everybody’s Gone to Rapture Finally Coming to PC, According to AMD Crimson Driver Update If the release notes for AMD’s newest graphics drivers are without any error, we should all rejoice. The graphically-stunning indie game Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture, which was originally developed and released exclusively for PlayStation 4 console by British Independent video game developer called The Chinese Room in collaboration with Sony Santa Monica Studio, is finally coming to PC. The graphics card manufacturer has added “Updated Crossfire Profiles” for the game in release notes for the latest AMD Radeon Software Crimson Edition 16.3.2. About a week ago when a fan asked The Chinese Room on Twitter (https://twitter.com/DerpIsNotHerp/status/712620784905228288) if the team had any plans to bring Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture to PC, the developer replied by saying (https://twitter.com/DerpIsNotHerp/status/712620784905228288) that they didn’t have anything to announce on the matter, but they “would love to make it happen.” While there is no official word on the game’s PC port so far, it is quite unlikely that AMD would name the title in the release notes if it wasn’t happening. The developer has been contacted for a statement on the topic. It is expected that we’ll get to hear an official announcement in the coming days.

Developed using Crytek’s CryEngine 3, Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture acts as a spiritual successor to Dear Esther, and takes place in a large open-world environment. The story of the game revolves around six in-game characters, with each one having its own story to tell that is connected to landmarks present in the game’s world. Players, playing the role of a scientist, interact with objects, places and people to progress through the game and put together the real story.

Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture Confirmed For PC, VR Support Not Being Considered At This Point

Earlier this week, we have reported (http://wccftech.com/everybodys-gone-to-rapture-pc-amd-crimson-driver/) that the PlayStation 4 exclusive game Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture was mentioned in the release note for the latest AMD Radeon Software Crimson Edition 16.3.2. This wasn’t the first time a PC release of the game developed by The Chinese Room was mentioned, as it surfaced on Steam database earlier this year, but an official confirmation had yet to come in. Today, however, it’s been confirmed that Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture is indeed coming to PC.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/Everybodys-Gone-To-The-Rapture-635x357.jpg
In a new interview posted on PC Gamer, (http://www.pcgamer.com/everybodys-gone-to-the-rapture-confirmed-for-pc/) The Chinese Room creative director Dan Pinchbeck has confirmed that Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture is coming to PC, also revealing what players should expect out of the new version of the game, such as improved performance, new accessibility options and more.

PCG: Can players expect any visual enhancements exclusive to the PC version of Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture?
DP: It’s mainly performance—there’s a framerate cap you can turn off, and with a good rig you can push up to 60fps, and obviously you’ve got scope for much higher resolutions. To be honest with you, we were pushing the PS4 about as far as it will go graphically, so it’s not like there’s massive space for improvement anyway.
Advertisements

What we’re really excited by is the addition of some accessibility features, like a crosshair option for people susceptible to motion sickness; visual assist for hearing-impaired players; and a ‘one button tilt’/simplified event-triggering feature for users with mobility issues. It’s also fully compatible with most controllers and keyboard/mouse, so the core thing for us is that it’s as accessible to as many players as possible.
Mr. Pinchbeck has also talked about possible VR support for this new version of the game, which is not coming at this time due to some issues.

PCG: Have you guys considered VR support for the PC version?
DP: Not at this point—that would be really complicated given Playstation VR is out later this year. It’s a tough call anyway as Rapture’s just one large open world, so it’s very challenging to cram all that into the kind of performance specs you need. An official VR port would have to be led by Sony of course, but it’s here on PC so you never know.
Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture is now available on PlayStation 4 in all regions. The PC version of the game has been submitted to Sony (which will publish the game on Steam as well) and should be released soon.

Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture Launching On Steam Next Week, Pre-Orders Now Open

Last week, it’s been confirmed (http://wccftech.com/everybodys-rapture-confirmed-pc-vr-support-considered-point/) that Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture, the unique adventure game developed by The Chinese Room for PlayStation 4, is going to be released on PC soon. A release date had yet to be confirmed, but today we finally know when this excellent adventure game will become available on Steam.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/Everybody%E2%80%99s-Gone-To-The-Rapture-PC-635x357.jpg
A few hours ago, Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture surprisingly became available for purchase on Steam (http://store.steampowered.com/app/417880/), with an April 8th release date. This was clearly a listing mistake, as the game is now only available for pre-order with an April 14th release date.
Advertisements

Alongside the game’s PC release, The Chinese Room creative director Dan Pinchbeck has confirmed some of the enhancements the new release of Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture will sport, such as a frame rate cap that can be turned off, allowing players to enjoy the game at 60 FPS, and higher resolution options. The game, however, won’t feature any other major enhancement, as the team pushed the PS4 as much as possible in the original version. Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture PC will also sport new accessibility features, visual assist for hearing-impaired players and more. The game will also be compatible with most controllers, so Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture on PC will be accessible to as many players as possible.
Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture would definitely benefit from VR support due to the nature of the game, but it seems like it won’t be coming anytime soon. The door hasn’t been closed completely, so things might be changing in the future.

Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture is an enthralling adventure game set in the idyllic Shropshire countryside. Developed by The Chinese Room, the game was well received and praised for its gorgeous visual design. Furthermore, the accompanying soundtrack is sublime and greatly enhances the tense experience. Initially, Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture launched as an exclusive PlayStation 4 title and is now making it’s way to the PC platform. Here’s a brief synopsis of what the game entails in the developer’s own words:

“Deep within the Shropshire countryside, the village of Yaughton stands empty. Toys lie forgotten in the playground, the wind blows quarantine leaflets around the silent churchyard. Down on Appleton’s farm, crops rustle untended. The birds lie where they have fallen.
Strange voices haunt the radio waves as uncollected washing hangs listlessly on the line. The televisions are tuned to vacant channels. Above it all, the telescopes of the Observatory point out at dead stars and endless darkness. And someone remains behind, to try and unravel the mystery.
Immerse yourself in a rich, deep adventure from award-winning developer The Chinese Room and investigate the last days of Yaughton Valley. Uncover the traces of the vanished community; discover fragments of events and memories to piece together the mystery of the apocalypse.”
As with any new release on Steam, the developer has listed the game’s requirements listed below:
MINIMUM:

OS: 64-bit Windows 7, 64-bit Windows 8 (8.1) or 64-bit Windows 10
Processor: Intel Core i5-4570T 2.9 GHz / AMD FX-6100 3.3 GHz

Everybody's Gone to the Rapture arrives on PC/Steam tomorrow

While Fallout 4 won the highest accolade at the recent BAFTA games awards 2016 (http://www.bafta.org/games/awards/games-awards-winners-in-2016), simply for being the 'Best Game', some less well known titles did pretty well too. One such game, a fellow post-apocalypse title, is 'Everybody's Gone to the Rapture' by The Chinese Room, which remains a PlayStation 4 exclusive title until tomorrow…
http://hexus.net/media/uploaded/2016/4/b9eff460-7106-4b25-b1fa-ccf5c5765226.jpg
Everybody's Gone to the Rapture won two BAFTAs for the different but related aspects of 'Audio achievement' and 'Music', though it also boasts enchanting open-world post-apocalypse Shropshire imagery, and has won high praise (http://kotaku.com/everybodys-gone-to-the-rapture-the-kotaku-review-1723137676) in reviews in its PS4 outing for the rich, investigative, non-linear gameplay on offer. Incidentally one of the actors in the game, Merle Dandridge, won a BAFTA for her performance as 'Kate Collins'.
http://hexus.net/media/uploaded/2016/4/4ca2e000-7891-4f49-ba17-28c580166620.jpg
The story of Everybody's Gone to the Rapture (http://www.thechineseroom.co.uk/games/everybodys-gone-to-the-rapture/) begins at 06:37am on 6th June 1984, in Yaughton, Shropshire, England. Unfortunately you awake discover that "The world ended 37 minutes ago." The whole village is empty and eerily quiet with toys laying forgotten in the school playground, empty abandoned streets, and birds lying where they have fallen.
You will notice TVs and radios can pick up strange voices and your explorations will slowly uncover traces of the lost community, thereby piecing together the mystery of the apocalypse.

<iframe width="700" height="394" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/w1tBl7upgDU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Everybody's Gone to the Rapture can now be pre-purchased by PC/Steam (http://store.steampowered.com/app/417880/) users for £15.99. The game will unlock tomorrow at 7pm UK time. It is a single player title which requires a minimum of 64-bit Windows 7 or newer, 4GB of RAM, an Intel Core i5-4570T 2.9 GHz / AMD FX-6100 3.3 GHz, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 Ti / AMD Radeon HD 6850, and 8GB of disk space.
