Crackdown 3 To Have Revolutionary Multiplayer With 100% Destruction Thanks To Cloud Tech

Crackdown 3 has been demonstrated for the first time today at Microsoft’s Gamescom 2015 Media Briefing. The long awaited sequel in the open world series is powered by special cloud tech (Cloudgine (http://www.cloudgine.com/)), and it has been announced that the game will have “revolutionary multiplayer” with 100% destructible environments. Microsoft is definitely trying to deliver on its original promise – they also added that by connecting to the cloud, Crackdown 3 will harness 20 times the computational power of the Xbox One hardware.
It seems that the game will retain both its signature graphics style (cel-shading) and the classic gameplay, which looks very familiar to what we’ve seen and played in the first two Crackdown games. In terms of pure detail, there’s still a lot of room for improvement with many graphical aspects looking quite rough at the moment.
According to the narrating voice of the trailer, the developers of Crackdown 3 are striving to create the “ultimate sandbox” game, with players taking once again control of an Agent fighting crime syndicates all over the city.
The very last frames of the video hint that the multiplayer mode will begin (likely with a beta) in Summer 2016, obviously as an Xbox One exclusive.

Crackdown 3 Full Destruction Limited To Multiplayer; Co-Developed By Sumo Digital

Crackdown 3 was definitely one of the highlights of Microsoft’s Gamescom 2015 Media Briefing, with its unprecedented destructible environments powered by cloud technology.
Even as we reported it (http://wccftech.com/crackdown-3-revolutionary-multiplayer-100-destruction-cloud-tech/) a couple of days ago, an implication seemed to be obvious – in order to access the “power of the cloud”, gamers have to be connected online, which is fine for multiplayer. However, where does that leave a campaign that needs to be playable offline as well?

Crackdown 3 to use Microsoft’s cloud technology Crackdown 3 is scheduled for a release in 2016, and was officially announced at the E3 of 2014. The games’ multiplayer mode makes use of the Microsoft’s cloud technology to power real time destruction in the game.

Enter Crackdown 3’s sandbox of mayhem and destruction and become a Super-Powered Agent dedicated to Justice by any means necessary. Explore the heights of a dangerous futuristic city, cut through gang-infested streets in a transforming vehicle, and wield amazing abilities to dismantle a ruthless criminal empire. Developed by original creator Dave Jones, Crackdown 3 will deliver cooperative chaos and an all-new multiplayer mode where destruction is your ultimate weapon against friends and rivals online. The game’s official title was revealed during Gamescom 2015, where the game’s cloud tech was shown off for the very first time. Because the game makes use of the cloud, full-scale destruction will be exclusive to the game’s multiplayer mode. The game’s campaign (singleplayer) will feature destruction as well, but to a limited degree.
Crackdown 3 is to be the sequel to Crackdown 2, which was released back in 2010 for the Xbox 360.

Explosions Take Center In Crackdown 3 Development Blog

The upcoming Crackdown 3 is all about massive destruction, and in a new developer blog, the game’s narrative designer talks about taking “destruction to a whole new level”.

The sequel to Crackdown 2 was announced during Microsoft’s E3 2014 press briefing. One year later, at Gamescom 2015, Microsoft officially announced revealed to game to be called Crackdown 3. During the event, Microsoft showed off the game’s massive real-time destruction via Microsoft’s Azure Cloud engine.

News on Crackdown 3 has been sparse since Gamescom 2015, and while the development blog doesn’t really reveal any new information, the post does include some interesting animated images showcasing the game’s explosions.

We start by looking at explosions as science experiments, cause and effect on clear display. No matter if it’s born from a rocket, a grenade, a limpet mine, or a breaching charge, something detonates and damage spreads — and in the world of Crackdown, that’s when opportunities arise.
Sometimes it starts with a devastating shockwave that explodes out and shatters the glass face of a nearby skyscraper — revealing the enemy that’s hiding inside, just waiting for your long-range kill-shot.
Some explosions spark and catch fire, sending opponents rushing from the blaze and right into your sights — or better yet, right into the path of the burning building as it crashes down from complete structural collapse.

Sometimes it’s all about “impulse” and using a precisely-timed blast to send things flying: launching cars into the air (and keeping them suspended there with a bevy of rocket shots); knocking enemies through walls — or catapulting them across rooftops — or hurling them into explosive barrels that have been daisy-chained around the city and triggering a pyrotechnic chain reaction big enough for all to see.

Crackdown 3’s multiplayer mode is scheduled for a release this summer on Xbox one. The game’s campaign will follow later on.
