PlayStation Experience Happening Once Again In December 2015

Last year, Sony Computer Entertainment hosted a two days long event called PlayStation Experience in Las Vegas, taking the opportunity to make some fairly important PlayStation announcements and showcasing upcoming games (such as the first look at Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End gameplay).
A few hours ago, SCE confirmed that they are doing another PlayStation Experience in 2015. This time, the event will take place in San Francisco from December 5 to 6; the official PlayStation blog (http://blog.us.playstation.com/2015/08/14/playstation-experience-2015-comes-to-san-francisco/) teases major PlayStation announcements and of course, some hands-on time for the attendees.
“…the only conclusion is that there will be a lot of news coming from Sony before the year’s end”Those of you interested in actually being there might be happy to know that prices have been reduced slightly. While supplies last, registering before September 20th will get a two-day pass for $60. After September 20th, the same pass will cost $75, with one-day passes going for $45 (Saturday) and $40 (Sunday).

You can buy tickets already at this address (http://playstation.com/experience-tickets), and don’t forget to use your actual PSN IDs – the reason is not clear yet, but there might be some bonus for your PSN account in store.
Street Fighter fans might be even more keen to attend PlayStation Experience 2015, as the Capcom Cup will be held there on Sunday, December 6th. This competition will feature 32 of the world’s best players competing for the title of “Street Fighter World Champion”, which also grants the huge $250,000 prize pool.
Sony skipped Gamescom last week in order to focus on Paris Games Week, where it will host a press conference with potential game announcements. If we add this to the PlayStation Experience event, the only conclusion is that there will be a lot of news coming from Sony before the year’s end, so stay tuned.

Sony has revealed the full list (http://blog.us.playstation.com/2015/12/03/playstation-experience-2015-everything-you-need-to-know/) of what to expect at PlayStation Experience 2015 this weekend in San Francisco, and whether you are able to attend or have to watch from afar, Sony has plenty for you to take in at the event. The Playstation Experience Keynote will kick off the weekend at 10am PT on Saturday, December 5. For those hoping to attend in person, the auditorium will open at 8am, but Sony suggested lining up sooner than that as space will be limited. For everyone not in attendance, the keynote presentation will be broadcast live on Twitch, and Sony suggested sticking around after it concludes. The company has over 30 live game demos and developer interviews planned throughout the weekend, in addition to a handful of panels to take in on Saturday afternoon.

There’s far more than just PSVR games being shown off during PlayStation Experience this year, though. Sony revealed that there will be over 130 playable titles for fans to explore.
On Sunday, starting at 10am sharp, the Capcom Cup 2015 Street Fighter world championship will kick off and run throughout the day. At the end of it all, the world will have a new Street Fighter champion, and that talented player will take home $120,000. Sony said this is “an event everyone should experience at least once in their lives.”
Sony will be broadcasting Playstation Experience 2015 on Twitch (http://www.twitch.tv/playstation) and live.playstation.com (http://live.playstation.com/) throughout the weekend. The keynote starts at 10am on Saturday, and the official event stream is scheduled for noon and will run until 9pm. Sunday’s broadcast resumes at 10am Sunday and wraps up at 4pm that evening.

Yakuza Zero Is Coming To The West In 2016

Gio Corsi, Director of Third Party Production at Sony Computer America, just announced during the PlayStation Experience keynote that Yakuza Zero is finally coming to the West in 2016.
http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/yakuza_zero_smoking-635x357.jpg (http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/yakuza_zero_smoking.jpg)
Yakuza Zero, as suggested by the title, is a prequel to the Yakuza series (developed and published by SEGA), taking place in December 1988. The game originally released in Japan for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 on 12 March, 2015.
As in all franchise titles, the main protagonist is Kazuma Kiryu of the Tojo clan. Gio Corsi also announced that Yakuza 5 will be available for PlayStation 3 on December 8 via PSN.

PlayStation Experience Shows Off More PlayStation VR Games And Classic Remakes; Third-Party Titles Headed To PS4 and Vita, Too (Updated)

http://media.bestofmicro.com/N/P/543877/gallery/Shawn-Layden-PSX_w_600.png (http://www.tomshardware.com/gallery/Shawn-Layden-PSX,0101-543877-0-2-12-1-png-.html)
San Francisco played host to PlayStation Experience for the second year in a row. The two-day event kicked off with a keynote highlighting some of the upcoming projects coming to the PlayStation brand in 2016.
Updates The show started with a crowd favorite and franchise staple. A new scene from Uncharted: A Thief’s End showed Nathan Drake reuniting with his older brother Sam. After some catching up, Sam reveals that he is in trouble and seeks the help of his younger brother. One part of the conversation asks for player input. You can choose from one of three options to answer Sam’s question, and each of the answers correspond to each of the three previous games in the series. However, it’s unsure if we’ll get the same feature in other conversations for the rest of the game.
Initially revealed at E3 (http://www.tomshardware.com/news/sony-last-guardian-more-e3,29383.html), Final Fantasy fans had another, and more extensive, look at Final Fantasy VII Remake. This time around, we get to see Cloud and Barret talk and fight their way through the game’s early levels. The updated game won’t be out for quite some time, but a surprise announcement from Square Enix’s Yoshinori Kitase and Tetsuya Nomura revealed that the PC version of Final Fantasy VIIis now available on the PS4.

<iframe width="550" height="310" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/A3sBZ5Nr4hc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Gameplay - PlayStation Experience

Gearbox’s upcoming shooter Battleborn also made an appearance. There will be a total of 25 characters in the game, but the full roster has yet to be revealed. However, the team continues to reveal more characters with each appearance. This time around, fans were introduced to Toby, a penguin that sits inside a giant robot and unleashes a volley of gunfire and missiles to take down enemies.
Street Fighter V is coming in two months, but producer Yoshinori Ono showed off F.A.N.G., the final revealed character in the fighting game’s list of combatants. Ono noted that six more characters will be added after the game’s release. Players can unlock them for free as they play the game, but for those who want to use them immediately without the extra work, a season pass is also available at $29.99.
Destiny continues to lure players in, especially with its new expansion, The Taken King. Bungie continues to add more content for the expansion, and its latest update isn’t targeted for combat at all. Instead, players will be introduced to the Sparrow Racing League, where players compete with the game’s hover vehicles and become the fastest Guardian around. The event is free for owners of The Taken King and starts on December 8.
The Ratchet and Clankseries has been an integral part of PlayStation since its first release in 2002. Fourteen years after the first game, a movie based on the title is finally coming out April 28, 2016. However, a game based on the movie (based on the game) was also announced last year, and fans were able to see more gameplay at PlayStation Experience. The new release date of April 12 means that fans can play the new game a few days before they see the movie.
Smaller Titles, Big Releases (Japanese Games, Too) Aside from the big-budget titles, PlayStation also helps bring smaller and third-party titles to players. The company worked with partners such as Adult Swim Games, which has six games coming next year to the platform; Double Fine, which announced a remastered version of both Full Throttle and Day of the Tentacle; and Klei, which is bringing Invisible Inc. and the cooperative gameplay of Don’t Starve Together to the console.
Square Enix initially had Hitman Go on mobile devices, but now it’s coming to the PS4 and Vita. Vlambeer’s hit game Nuclear Throne, as well as Supergiant Games’ Bastion and The Bit.Trip(a collection of the first six Bit.Trip titles) are all making their way to both the living room console and its handheld counterpart, as well. This means that most of these game will support the Cross Buy feature, where a purchase on either device means you can play it on both the PS4 and Vita.
http://media.bestofmicro.com/N/Q/543878/gallery/Yakuza-Zero_w_600.png (http://www.tomshardware.com/gallery/Yakuza-Zero,0101-543878-0-2-12-1-png-.html)The Tokyo Game Show (http://www.tomshardware.com/news/sony-event-tokyo-game-show,30090.html) presentation in September featured some new titles, but a majority of them will see a release only in Japan, leaving Westerners out of the loop. However, a few of them will see a release in North America. This includes Yakuza 5, which is coming to the PlayStation 3 (yes, the PS3) on December 8, and Yakuza 0, which came out in Japan earlier this year for the PS4. Another installation of The King of Fighters, specifically The King of Fighters XIV, is on its way as well, featuring a 50-character roster. Ni-Oh was revealed as a PS4 title at Tokyo Game Show, but it looks like it’s coming to North American audiences, too. As a final treat, The Last Blade 2, an arcade fighting game from 1998, is making a comeback on both the PS4 and Vita.
PlayStation VR The countdown continues to the launch of PlayStation VR, and Sony continues to show off more titles for it. This includes Ubisoft, which is making Eagle Flight, where you fly above the streets of Paris in single- or two-player modes. Santa Monica Studios, well-known for creating the God of War series, is making a new VR title called The Modern Zombie Taxi Co., which has the player drive zombies around in their new town. Think Crazy Taxi meets zombies.
Rez, which initially came out in 2002, is finding new life through VR. The psychedelic shooter with a digital theme will be remastered to bring back old fans and attract newcomers. Development team No Goblin is perhaps making the most interesting game of all time by combining large robots and golf to create 100ft Robot Golf. It’s safe to say we’ll be keeping a close eye on this one. Fresh off the announcement of Psychonauts 2 at The Game Awards (http://www.tomshardware.com/news/game-awards-2015-show-recap,30693.html), Tim Schafer announced a Psychonauts game for PlayStation VR titled In the Rhombus of Ruin.

<iframe width="550" height="310" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/_zuBSUJfpBk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Ace Combat 7 Announcement - PlayStation Experience

As a final surprise for PlayStation VR, a new Ace Combat is coming. The popular flight arcade/simulation series is coming out with Ace Combat 7, and this time around you’ll be able to step into a cockpit with the help of virtual reality.
The Future Of PlayStation Sony also teased a handful of new games. A new Ni No Kuni game titled Ni No Kuni: Revenant Kingdomwas announced, as well more details on Paragon, Epic Games’ new multiplayer online battle arena (http://www.tomshardware.com/news/grux-final-hero-paragon-game,30691.html). Finally, PlayStation’s own baseball franchise, MLB The Show, will be back next year with some new features.
In two hours, Sony was able to pack in as much content as possible, both for some of its more well-known PlayStation franchises and for its lesser-known games. Fans loved the nostalgia of a few re-released titles and remastered versions but were also excited to see some new projects in development.
More importantly, the company showed off more of PlayStation VR. In a field that will undoubtedly grow in the next few months in terms of content, PlayStation wanted fans to know that with a new device comes new ways to experience games. All of these announcements and releases should keep fans excited for a few months, until we hear more from the company at shows such as GDC, PAX East, and E3, just to name a few.
Update, 12/5/2015, 3:15pm PST: Another PlayStation VR game called Golem was also shown. The trailer depicts a giant monster roaming the area, but it's being controlled by a woman through the power or telekinesis. It seems that you'll most likely be taking her spot in controlling the giant creature.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with it, the SHAREfactory app (https://www.playstation.com/en-us/explore/ps4/sharefactory/) lets PlayStation 4 users edit their videos. It’s possible to combine videos, to add commentary or music, themes, stickers, text and even a picture-in-picture video (provided that you own the PlayStation camera).
Once you’re done, you can share everything directly from the PlayStation 4 or just copy the edited video to your USB drive and upload it via PC. The PS4 SHAREfactory already received many updates from its release and it seems like new features like slow motion and time lapse are just the beginning; what would you like to see in the future?

Check out these trailers from the first PlayStation VR 'games'

Sony held its second annual PlayStation Experience event this past weekend in San Francisco, showcasing to the industry (and the public) what it has in store over the coming months.
With the company’s first-ever virtual reality headset (http://www.techspot.com/news/62114-sony-project-morpheus-becomes-playstation-vr.html) slated to arrive sometime next year, this year’s PlayStation Experience served as the perfect place to showcase a handful of early VR games (http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/136104-sony-playstation-vr-game-trailers-sony-reveals-the-ps4-gaming-future-for-2016).

The trailer for Golem depicts a young girl wearing what appears to be VR goggles – so yeah, it looks like a VR game within a VR game. Rez Infinite, lauded by some as the best VR game of the bunch, is a remake of the original rail shooter from the early 2000s. If you suffer at all from motion sickness or epilepsy, this one might be worth avoiding as there’s a lot of fast-paced, nausea-inducing action going on at once.

Ace Combat 7 is a flight simulator game based on the original Ace Combat franchise that debuted way back in 1992. A title like this seems perfect for VR as you can freely look around the cockpit sans clumsy joysticks or other controls. This might be the game I’m most impressed with, at least based on the trailer.

Eagle Flight reminds me a lot of Pilotwings, the first of which I played on the Nintendo 64. In Eagle Flight, you assume the role of an eagle – free to fly around Paris some 50 years after humans have abandoned the city. While the purpose of the game wasn’t made clear, we do know that it’ll offer single and multiplayer modes.

Job Simulator is a quirky experience in which you tool around in an office environment. This seems like it’d be neat for all of five minutes. The same could be said about The Modern Zombie Taxi Co., a cartoonish game in which you drive zombies around town in a taxi. Think of it as Uber for the undead.

As you’ll no doubt conclude, many of the “games” amount to little more than tech demos of what’s possible in the VR world. That’s fine at this point, so long as pricing (assuming each project is developed into a full-on game) reflects this.
