Intel prepares to launch its next CPU microarchitecture in two months, with the first products being offered for desktop, mobile, server and embedded markets. Desktop CPUs will be available in LGA1150 package, compatible with socket 1150. In addition to LGA1150 desktop microprocessors, Intel will eventually release BGA processors, aimed at All-in-One systems, that will boast lower power consumption and have beefed up graphics. According to VR-Zone Chinese edition, model numbers of these processors will have suffix "R" to differentiate them from socket 1150 CPUs. VR-Zone also published detailed specifications of three BGA SKUs, Core i5-4570R, i5-4670R and i7-4770R."R" series BGA chips have rather different feature-set from other desktop Haswell microprocessors. First and foremost, the parts integrate HD 5200 graphics, which is supposed to be up to 2 times faster than the HD 4600 GPU on LGA1150 CPUs. The graphics core runs as high as 1.3 GHz on the i5-4670R and i7-4770R, and up to 1.15 GHz on the i5-4570R SKUs. The size of L3 cache on "R" series parts was reduced to 6 MB on Core i7 part, and down to 4 MB on Core i5s. Like energy-efficient "S" processors, the BGA chips have 65 watt TDP. Clock speeds of "S" and "R" microprocessors are also close. Specifically, the Core i7-4770R is clocked at 3.2GHz, and has 3.9GHz maximum Turbo Boost frequency. The Core i5-4570R and i5-4670R have 2.7 GHz and 3GHz stock speeds, that can be increased up to 3.2 GHz and 3.7 GHz respectively:

Remaining features on BGA processors are standard for Haswell-based SKUs: 4 CPU cores, VT-d virtualization technology, support for AES instructions and DDR3-1600 memory. Core i7-4770R also has Hyper-Threading technology enabled. Launch date of "R" series processors is not known.

E isto é só o início. O BGA vem aí para ficar.

Boas!
É claramente mais pensado para o mercado de laptops e outras plataformas monolíticas onde o cpu não poderá ser mudado...

Cumprimentos,
