After several delays, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s release stands more than three months away, but the hype for the third and concluding installment in one of the best action role-playing video game series is only growing huge. CD Projekt RED is currently working to eliminate optimization issues that are affecting the PC and console versions of the game, and to finalize and polish the game’s vast open world, to view which in all its glory at ultra settings on PC, you will need more than what the recommended system requirements of the game suggested.
Players Will Need More Than the Recommended Hardware to Max Out The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on PC – PlayStation 4 Version Needs More Optimization Now that the development work on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is almost complete, and it is only the optimization and elimination of bugs and glitches that is currently in progress, CD Projekt RED is showing off the game to the eagerly awaiting fans. The developer recently
conducted a preview event for the game, allowing gaming publications and online reporters to test the current build of the game running on PC and the latest PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles. Previews of the game suggest that the new installment in the most critically acclaimed RPG series is turning out to be great, however there are some optimization issues that need to be resolved.
Poland based games publication known as
Witchersite also got a chance to preview the game, and it recently published a huge hands-on impressions of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt running on PC and the PlayStation 4 console. The preview comes to light with a word count of well over 58000, and it reveals a truckload of new information about the two of the three versions of the game. If you are interested in going through the preview, you can check it out in English on
CD Projekt RED’s forums, courtesy of user gregksi.
According to the report, the recommended PC hardware for the game won’t allow players to run it on ultra settings, meaning players will need more horsepower to max out the game and play it with all the graphical features enabled. When asked whether players would be able to max out the game with the recommended hardware, CD Projekt RED told
Witchersite that the recommended specifications are only for playing the game on mid-high settings in 1080p.
“No, recommended specs are supposed to let you play on mid-high settings in 1920×1080(Full HD)”
The author mentioned that it is quite hard to describe graphical settings of the console versions of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, as there are many similarities between the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions. According to him, in some places during the gameplay, players might notice that the developer had to make some compromises to keep the game balanced, but there are scenes that will knock players over with mind-boggling visuals.
The report suggests that the despite being perfect in several aspects, the PlayStation 4 version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt suffers from slight frame rate drops, as well as texture pop-in issues that usually appear when the quick action sequence is initiated after a cutscene. But of course, for all that, the game is still being polished and optimized for the latest platforms, and the developer itself asserts that there is still a lot that needs to be fixed and put in place before the final release date. Currently, the game is fully playable on the PlayStation 4, but for real smooth gameplay experience, a little more optimization is required.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will hit PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this year on May 19.
