If you're running a previous generation console and are looking for a few cheap titles to place in your collection before the new year rolls around, Xbox are offering up a plethora of deals running right until the clock hits 12:00 am on the 1st of January.

Whether you're interested in FIFA 15 for only $29.99 or Game of Thrones for $2.49, this comprehensive list has games on offer for almost any console fan.
Xbox 360 deals are running rampant until 2015

There are a few 'filler' titles on the list, however Microsoft have done a fairly good job of offering up some solid gaming offerings at reasonable prices. If full games aren't you thing however, you can purchase things like the World of Tanks Currency Mega Pack and other similar items.

Designed to confuse - a full PC system in an Xbox 360 shell

If you're really looking to confuse the console lover in your family, you really need to wrap up this device and present it to them on their birthday.

A modder by the name of Draelren has reached out to us, explaining the process behind his crazy Xbox 360/PC build set to confuse console lovers and haters alike.

Featuring an AMD A10-7850K CPU and a 128GB SSD, Draelren uses this system as one of his dedicated LAN rigs, however it's not quite finished - yet. "There are some things that still need to be done to it - but it's mostly there," he explains. "I'm needing to do some custom wiring to get the Xbox's power button to turn the computer on, and then the eject button for the optical drive to reset the computer."

With only these small changes being needed to finalize the system, it surely is an impressive project. Releasing this build originally to Reddit's PC Master Race community, it was received with much admiration and a positive outlook.

The full specification list is as follows:

    • Microsoft Xbox 360
    • A10-7850K
    • ASRock FM2A88X-ITX+
    • AMD Radeon R9 Gamer Series 2x4gb 2133MHz
    • Noctua NH-L9a
    • 128GB Samsung mSATA
    • HDPLEX Hi-Fi DC-ATX 250W
    • 1x Scythe Mini KAZE ULTRA 40mm, 2x Rexus DF126010PH

A little different to the Xbox 360 and One combined mod that we posted recently, but impressive nonetheless. Do you have any similar stories or projects to share? Please feel free to comment below or submit it on our Facebook page.

GameStop Allegedly Sold Refurbished Red Ring of Death Xbox 360s to Unsuspecting Gamers

The dreaded Red Ring of Death is one of the most well known legends of console culture. The three quadrant indicator or RRoD as it’s more affectionately called was the Xbox 360’s way of letting users know of a hardware malfunction, usually irreparable. However, if new reports are to be believed, then GameStop found a way to repair the RRoD and sell the consoles as refurbished. The worst part is, the fix was most probably non-permanent and could have contributed a lot to the high failure rate of the Xbox 360, assuming the report is accurate.
A photo showing the familiar quadrant configuration of the Red Ring of Death. @unknown
GameStop resold Xbox 360s with temporarily repaired red ring of death

According to a report published by the Business Week, GameStop figured out a way to fix the read ring of death back in 2009 and made a homebrew machine to mass produce the fix. One of the most common reasons for the red ring of death was a connection being broken between the motherboard and the processor. A common fix (that most of you will remember) was one that required a towel – a crude attempt to bake the solder again and reset it, hopefully reconnecting the circuit; which might or might not work. The exact procedure involved wrapping the console in a towel, letting it run for 20 minutes, then letting it cool for another 20 minutes, after which the console will hopefully run.
Since this isn’t something completely reliable, back in 2009, GameStop apparently devised a method in which the top part of the console was heated and the lower part was cooled allowing the solder to reset more precisely. This was done using an in-house machine that was operated by a Gamestop employee. The result was that Gamestop was able to turn scrap consoles into refurbished pieces with an absolutely huge profit margin. While I am sure it was more reliable than the towel fix, the fact remains, that even this was temporary and with the correct ambient conditions, bump or plain aging, the Xbox would revert to its critical failure state.

A recent survey estimated that around ~50% of Xbox Users have experienced a hardware malfunction of some sort and statistically speaking that is a very high number. The next obvious question is just how much of this 50% was the result of retailers such as GameStop reselling broken consoles with temporary fixes and how much, genuine failure. It would be interesting to see how the retailer responds to this new revelation. GameStop has been facing financial difficulties and has spent these past few years trying to stay relevant.

Isto é muito mau para os consumidores.
Andarem a vender consolas avarias é muito mau, especialmente nos EUA onde as garantias duram pouco tempo.
Imagino quantos jogadores não perderam centenas de dólares com esta aldrabice.

Xbox 360 gamers get Preview program; can now reserve their Xbox One Games with Gold

Starting in early March select invitees will be able to join the Xbox 360 Preview program. This will work much like the Xbox One preview – and selected customers will be able to sign-up directly from their Xbox 360. Look for a special Xbox Live message then head to Settings, then account then under account management if you’ve been selected, you’ll see Xbox 360 Preview Registration. Sign up there and enroll your console. Nothing will happen yet, but we’ll let you know when the Preview is ready to begin through a Xbox Live message.
In our upcoming release will be addressing common customer issues including improving the ability to troubleshoot common network issues from the 360 and adding a Network Connectivity test including Download and Upload speed tests.
There will be even more changes coming later this year – so sign up to be a part of the Xbox 360 Preview Program.

Microsoft Launches Xbox 360 Preview, Plus Free Xbox One Gold Games Through 360

On Monday, Microsoft launched two new features that should appease neglected Xbox 360 owners. Most notable is giving Xbox Live Gold users the ability to grab free Xbox One games through their 360. So, any users who are intending to upgrade, but feel like they’re missing out on the monthly gift of a free game, can opt into a game now and download it once they purchase an Xbox One console.
The other release is an Xbox 360 preview program, which, according to Microsoft’s Larry Hryb, “will work much like the Xbox One preview.” The program is available to “select invitees” and will include connectivity tests to deal with “common network issues”.
