    Não se notam diferenças nenhumas no dia a dia entre SSDs modernos. Já tive muitos, uns comprados por mim e outros para reviews e tirando os benchmarks sintéticos, não se consegue dizer qual é qual ao trabalhar normalmente no PC.

    Portanto, a não ser que seja para algo em específico, como por exemplo usar em servidores, o segredo está na qualidade/preço. E nessa vertente, os Crucial MX100 estão imbatíveis como referi anteriormente.

    Procurem o melhor valor em termos de durabilidade e garantia, de resto...

    Boas!
    Para mim é importante os IOP´s, pois é esse valor que define a rapidez do ssd.

    Por exemplo para os servidores usamos os 840 pro, mas temos que ver que aquilo tem que processar milhares de ficheiros e mini ficheiros a toda a hora...

    Tinha visto tb uns hitachi ou toshiba á tempos...

    Eu acho que o LPC nao deve ter melhor escolha que os MX para o que ele quer.
    As reviews mostram que sao excelentes ssd.

    SSDs with series SanForce SF3000 controller delayed

    SandForce previously owned by LSI and now Seagate seems to have big problems. Their SandForce SF3000 controller has been announced ever since 2013, yet it is delayed once more, now to the first half of 2015. The initial plan was to get this product out as we speak already.

    There isn't much known on what exactly is going on but sources within the component industry state that there are issues with the PCI-E based end products that make use of that SF-3000 series controller. It is unknown if it is a chip design issue or something that can be fixed on the firmware side of things. And the PCI-E based SSDs are a huge focus for the manufacturer as by using that bus, they can maximize the potential of the series 3000 controllers.

    The SF3000 should be a significant step forwards in the SSD industry when it comes to performance, the controller is optimized for a bandwidth equal toi PCIE 2.0 4.x

    By using the PCIe bus SandForce can achieve sequential read and write performance of up-to 1800 MB/sec whilst the IOPS performance would be 150K for reads and 81K for writes.

    Review Samsung 850 Pro SSD

    It took a while but we finally got our hands on the Samsung 850 Pro SSD, not a small one either, it's that nicely sized 1 TB version. It is Samsung's first SSD with innovative 3D vertical NAND (V-NAND) flash memory, which ensures top performance and good endurance. The SSD drive brings 3D Vertical NAND Flash memory to SSDs, also known as Samsung 2nd Gen 86Gbit 40nm MLC V-NAND. Combined with Samsung's MEX controller and customized firmware the product is fast, very fast.
    We've been testing NAND Flash based storage ever since the very beginning, and it is surprising to see where we have gotten. The SSD market is fierce and crowded though and one brand quite popular in Europe has now also introduced a line of SSDs. While stability and safety of your data have become a number one priority for the manufacturers, the technology keeps advancing at a fast pace as it does, the performance numbers a good SSD offers these days are simply breathtaking. 450 to 500 MB/sec on SATA3 is the norm for a single controller based SSD. Next to that, over the past year NAND flash memory (the storage memory used inside an SSD) has become much cheaper as well. Prices now roughly settle at just under 1 USD per GB. That was two to threefold two years ago. As such, SSD technology and NAND storage has gone mainstream. The market is huge, fierce and competitive, but it brought us to where we are today... nice volume SSDs at acceptable prices with very fast performance. Not one test system in my lab has a HDD, everything runs on SSD while I receive and retrieve my bigger chunks of data from a NAS server here in the office. The benefits are performance, speed, low power consumption and no noise. You can say that I evangelize SSDs, yes Sir... I am a fan.
    So I'm happy to report that we can finally put the Samsung 850 Pro drive to the test. Samsung’s new 850 SSD Pro product line is powered by the company’s new MEX controller. A 3-core controller based off the older MDX controller, this drive will be amongst the fastest we have ever tested. It’s not just about performance though, it is about endurance as well. In a nutshell, endurance is the number of program-erase cycles an SSD has before you can't write onto it anymore. Samsung claims you can write at least 150TB of data to the 850 Pro before it runs out of P/E cycles. This means most of us won't use up the drive's endurance in our lifetime at normal usage.
    IOPS numbers are now reaching the 90,000 ~ 100,000 mark. Overall, for the 850 series performance has increased as well. Sequential reads for example performance wise are 550 MB/s for the 850 Pro. Write performance has jumped to 520 MB/sec. Samsung also gives the SSD a nice 10-year warranty and it has a RAPID cache mode that further boosts its performance.

    Samsung SSD 850 EVO Price Leaked

    Prices of Samsung Electronics’ solid-state drives based on triple-level cell (TLC) 3D V-NAND memory have leaked online. As expected, the new SSDs are among the most affordable in the industry. Performance of the drives based on the most cost-efficient NAND flash memory to date is on par with mainstream solid-state drives by Samsung and other manufacturers.
    The Samsung 850 Evo SSDs will be available in 120GB, 250GB, 500GB and 1TB storage capacities. Sequential read performance of the 850 Evo is expected to be up to 550MB/s, while write performance is projected to be up to 520MB/s, according to a description located at Fry’s Electronics, a major U.S. retail chain that also sells devices online. The new SSDs will use Serial ATA-6Gb/s interface and will come in 2.5”/7mm form-factor.
    The most important aspect of the Samsung 850 Evo family is its current pricing. At Fry’s, 1TB version of the 850 Evo SSD is listed at $499, whereas at Antares Pro the same solid-state drive can be pre-ordered for $477. Antares Pro is also taking pre-orders on 120GB, 250GB and 500GB models, which are going to cost $100, $146 and $258, respectively.

    While the initial prices of the Samsung 850 Evo solid-state drives can be slightly higher when compared to models that have been available on the market for some time now, the fact that the prices are relatively low means that Samsung could eventually further decrease them. Moreover, since Samsung has not formally introduced its 850 Evo family of SSDs, actual recommended prices could become even lower than those listed today.
    The Samsung 850 Evo family of solid-state drives is expected to become available in late November.
    Samsung did not comment on the news-story.

    Samsung Germany acknowledges '840 Basic' performance slow down, promises fix

    If you own a Samsung 840 SSD, it appears that after much repeated and vocal pressure, Samsung has acknowledged the slow down also affects your drive. We're not talking about the EVO or the Pro, this is the original pure TLC model that launched (the EVO is a TLC+SLC cache hybrid while the Pro is all MLC). Here's the quote from Samsung, via Computer Base:
    Uns ist durch das Feedback, das uns erreicht hat, bekannt, dass es auch beim Zugriff auf bestimmte Daten bei Modellen der SSD 840 zu niedrigeren Leseleistungen als angegeben kommen kann.
    Im Moment untersuchen unsere Produktexperten systematisch die betreffenden SSD-Modelle innerhalb verschiedener Systemumgebungen und arbeiten an einer schnellstmöglichen Lösung.
    Aufgrund der unterschiedlichen Technologien sind die Modelle der PRO-Serie (840 PRO und 850 PRO) nicht betroffen.

    What? You can't read German? Neither can we, but paraphrasing from the poor quality translation from several online tools, we deduce that Samsung has acknowledged the issue on the 840, and is working on a solution as quickly as possible. This is similar verbiage to the statement issued for the 840 EVO acknowledgement.
    ** Update **
    Thanks to Zyhmet, who commented shortly after posting, here's a human translation:
    Because of the feedback we got, we realized that, accessing specific data with units of SSD 840 could lead to lower reading performance.
    For the moment our experts are systematically examining the SSD-units with different system environments and we are working on a solution as fast as possible.
    Due to different technologies the PRO-series (840 PRO and 850 PRO) are not affected.

    Side note - of those who have used the 840 EVO Performance Restoration Tool, a few have reported an issue cropping up. The error manifests as a SMART data misreporting error:
    What's odd about this error is that it was present on some of our pre-production test samples (firmware EXT0AB0Q), and was corrected once we updated those samples to the first retail build (EXT0BB0Q). The image above was an actual screen shot taken during our temperature-dependency testing of the slow down issue. While none of our samples had the issue return when updating all the way to the performance restored firmware, one of those updates did corrupt the Master File Table, rendering the majority of the SSD inaccessible. While we have seen no other reports of corrupted partitions, severalusers noticed the SMART reporting issue after updating. It's odd to see this sort of a regression with firmware updates, in that a bug fixed in the initial shipping firmware has returned (for some) in a subsequent update. If you've updated your 840 EVO with their Performance Restoration Tool, it may be a good time to check your SMART attributes. If you see the error above, please leave us a note in the comments.
    Circling back to the slow down issue - given that it is present in two TLC-based SSDs from Samsung, one has to wonder if this issue exists in other Samsung TLC SSDs as well. Here's the list of potentials (thanks to an anonymous comment on a prior story):

    • 840 EVO - 19nm TLC
    • 840 - 21nm TLC
    • PM841 - 21nm TLC
    • PM851 - 21nm TLC (some SKUs)
    • 845DC EVO - 19nm TLC
    • PM843 - 21nm TLC
    • PM853T - 21nm TLC

    We have several questions out to Samsung on these issues, but to date they have not been answered. More to follow as we wait for an official (English) response.
