Behind the Scenes of World of Warcraft Movie in Virtual Reality
The bigger a project is, the tougher it is to keep the details a secret. Some manage to do so and one of the most prominent examples is probably Lord of the Rings. But the same thing also goes for the Warcraft movie directed by Duncan Jones. We know that it is in the making and that it is scheduled for a June 10th 2016 global release in 3D, but that is about it.
Now we’ve finally got a little inside view into the new movie, although it isn’t actual movie footage. Legendary Pictures released a little teaser in the Legendary VR app that is available on both iTunes and Google Play (465MB). Warcraft: Skies of Azeroth is one of three VR experiences that throws you on the back of a virtual gryphon for a flight over the city of Stormwind.
As Duncan Jones notes, it is part of the movie’s worldbuilding and it is certainly the first opportunity for anyone to see what Stormwind looks like.
“The city is laid out the same way it is in the movie,” Jones says. “We spend a little bit of time in the movie in Stormwind and in the VR experience you’ll actually get a chance to get a good look at everything.”
The launch of this demo is timed well with Comic-Con in San Diego where Google is giving away 50 thousand Google Cardboard units to give you a better experience. The other two VR experiences Legendary released are Beware Crimson Peak, a VR trip into the creepy residence in Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming Crimson Peak, and Pacific Rim: Jaeger Pilot, which puts you inside a kaiju-fighting mech.
Despite the lack of a new trailer at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, J.J. Abrams and crew were able to treat fans with behind-the-scenes footage of Episode VII that includes a glimpse of a legacy favorite.
Paramount Movies Going From Cinema to Streaming in 17 Days
I love going to the cinema, but not really for every movie that gets released. Sometimes I’d rather just kick back in my own home and watch it with a few friends. The wait for movies to go from cinema to disc, streaming or cable services can be huge and while efforts have been made to cut this shorter in recent years, it’s always held back by cinemas who want to keep the movie on the big screen for as long as possible, thus maximizing their profits.
Paramount may have the solution. They’ll be pushing some of their smaller movies, the kind that only have 300 national showings, to streaming services within just 17 days of the theatrical release. Cinemas will get a cut of the profits from streaming, helping keep all parties involved happy. It also means that building hype for the big screen becomes a dual marketing move, as people will be able to watch at home while the movie is still being talked about.
Will this move be successful? Who knows, only time will tell, but with AMC and Cineplex, others are likely to follow suit and if it makes money, we’d expect more and more blockbuster movies to be streamed after a shorter time too; it may even help combat illegal downloads from those who simply cannot wait.
The first two movies will be Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension and Scout’s Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse, which launch on October 23rd and October 30th respectively. Thank you Geek for providing us with this information.
The Goonies 2 has been a rumored sequel floating around Hollywood for years, but it never got off the ground and most just assumed it would never be. Recently, during an off-handed TMZ interview taking place in the street, original director Richard Donner confirms that the sequel is happening and that the entire cast will return!
He made the announcement after answers about Hollywood’s reliance on superhero movies, when asked if he’d ever return to the genre he helped created with 1978’s Superman, he says ”if you called Goonies a comic book.
Below is the following video where Richard Donner confirmed that Goonies 2 will be coming.
A script for Goonies 2 had been written a few years back, which follows a new group of kids, the sons and daughters of the original Goonies who all go off on their own adventure, just like the original gang. Most of the original cast including Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, Corey Feldman, Kerri Green, and Martha Plimpton have all expressed an interest in returning in the past few years to be part of the sequel.
Warner Brother even considered turning the title into a direct-to-video franchise much like what they did with Corey Felsman’s The Lost boys.
In 2008 it was rumored that a new writer had joined the project but this was never confirmed by the studio and it’s certainly a very odd way to announce a sequel that many eagerly awaited.
So, are you excited for The Goonies 2?
Pacific Rim is an action movie with giant robots (jaegers) fighting giant monsters (kaiju) it was released for the summer back in 2013 it had a soft opening at the U.S box office, but the feature did well enough at the international box office to earn itself a sequel more giant metal elbow rocket punching fun for all.
During an interview with yahoo, Guillermo del Toro revealed that things are quickly moving forward with the sequel and Del Toro said Pacific Rim 2 is starting shooting in November. Del Toro added, “We are deep into designing the robots, the kaijus…having fun planning the battles. Very exciting news, it’s good to see they’re putting extensive dedication into the designs of monsters and robots to hopefully make them as memorable as the first wave of monsters and mechas.
It’s exciting news for pacific rim fans although the gap between the first film and the sequel seems very big 2013 release and a 2017 release seems like a very large time to plan a sequel lets just hope Del Toro can deliver an interesting story and plenty of mecha fighting.
Are you excited for Pacific Rim 2? Pacific Rim 2 is scheduled to be released on August 4th 2017. Thank you comicbook.com for providing us with this information.
As you can see in the trailer, it looks damn good. Director David Ayer has nailed the look and style of the Suicide Squad, with Will Smith as Deadshot, Margie Robbie as Harley Quinn, and we get a quick tease of Jared Leto as The Joker. Surprisingly, it looks like the official Comic-Con trailer was released because Warner Bros couldn't contain the smartphone-quality leaks of the Suicide Squad trailer.
In a statement, Warner Bros Pictures' President of Worldwide Marketing an International Distribution, Sue Kroll, said: "Warner Bros. Pictures and our anti-piracy team have worked tirelessly over the last 48 hours to contain the Suicide Squad footage that was pirated from Hall H on Saturday". She continued: "We have been unable to achieve that goal. Today we will release the same footage that has been illegally circulating on the web, in the form it was created and high quality with which it was intended to be enjoyed. We regret this decision as it was our intention to keep the footage as a unique experience for the Comic Con crowd, but we cannot continue to allow the film to be represented by the poor quality of the pirated footage stolen from our presentation".
Sorry Warner Bros, but I'm just glad we have a proper quality trailer now. Suicide Squad was something I was already excited for, but this trailer has cemented that.
New 'Mission Impossible' video reveals Tom Cruise risking life & limb
With the launch of the upcoming fifth entry in the long running 'Mission Impossible' franchise later in the month, and Paramount has been working hard to convince fans and casuals to get out and see the film. One thing we don't need to be convinced of is Tom Cruise's commitment to authenticity, which sees the veteran perform many of his own stunts. But one upcoming stunt in 'Rogue Nation' raises the stakes even further, which is explored in a new featurette released today by the studio.
Helmed by Christopher McQuarrie (who previously directed Cruise in 2013's 'Jack Reacher'), the film reprises Jeremy Renner as Agent Brandt, Simon Pegg as Benji and Ving Rhames as Luther Stickell. New to the film are Alec Baldwin, Simon McBurney and Rebecca Ferguson.
It is hard for companies to keep secrets these days, something that Warner Bros learned the hard way during Comic Con last week when the trailer for Suicide Squad was posted to the internet and spread around like wild fire in all of its blurry, pixelated glory. This has caused quite a stir, since many go to Comic Con’s famous Hall-H to see exclusive film footage before the rest of the world but more often than not, that footage does not remain exclusive for long.
It would seem that the era of con exclusive footage is over and it is clear that Warner Bros isn’t all that happy about it. After failing to contain the Suicide Squad leak, the studio gave in and posted the HD version of it online, although it came accompanied by a rather begrudging message: “Warner Bros. Pictures and our anti-piracy team have worked tirelessly over the last 48 hours to contain the Suicide Squad footage that was pirated from Hall H on Saturday. We have been unable to achieve that goal. ”
“Today we will release the same footage that has been illegally circulating on the web, in the form it was created and high quality with which it was intended to be enjoyed. We regret this decision as it was our intention to keep the footage as a unique experience for the Comic Con crowd, but we cannot continue to allow the film to be represented by the poor quality of the pirated footage stolen from our presentation.”
This strongly worded statement comes from Sue Kroll, President of Worldwide Marketing and International Distribution at Warner Bros Pictures.
In contrast, when the Avengers 2 trailer leaked last year, Marvel seemed to take it in stride, putting the HD version on YouTube almost immediately and tweeting out “Dammit, Hydra”, rather than moaning at fans for being excited about an upcoming blockbuster.
A far cry from the original teaser trailer, and rumours of behind the scenes tumult, the final trailer for the upcoming 'Fantastic Four' reboot looks to be taking fine form indeed.
Based on the long-running Marvel comic series, the new vision of 'Fantastic Four' looks to right the wrongs of the 2005 feature film, with a darker, more serious tone from director Josh Trank, who previously helmed the acclaimed found film superhero movie 'Chronicle' and stars Michael B. Jordan, Miles Teller, Kate Mara and Jamie Bell.
