Unreal Engine 4.6 NVIDIA VXGI – New Real-time Screenshots Show Amazing Visuals

NVIDIA had recently introduced to the public its new Dynamic GI called VXGI. VGXI has been integrated in a separate branch of Unreal Engine 4, and 3D artist “Byzantos” experimented with it. Below you can find some screenshots captured with this new Global Illumination technique in full effect. As Byzantos claimed, this is the most accurate solution available to date (especially when it comes to the performance/visuals ratio). Enjoy!

    Mais um demo fantástico.

    Excelente...

Epic Games Releases Assets from Its Open-World Tech Demo, Included 138 Textures from 2048 up to 8192

Epic Games has released assets from its GDC 2015 open-world tech demo. As always – and while this pack is given completely free – those interested using them will have to register for an Epic Games account. As Epic Games suggested, this is a collection of realistic assets from its tech demo shown at GDC 2015. Developers can use them to create new levels or add them to existing ones.
“For larger assets such as rocks, ground tiles, cliffs faces and tree trunks, reconstruction was performed directly from photographs using a process called photogrammetry. These assets were then put through a proprietary ‘de-lighting’ process to make them suitable for use in any lighting scenario. Specular and roughness maps where then created to take full advantage of Unreal Engine 4’s Physically Based Rendering architecture. Finally game-optimized assets were generated with normal maps, LODs and collision meshes.
For vegetation such as flowers, bushes and grass we used color calibrated reference photography shot in the field to more accurately model and texture these assets.”
This pack weights around 6.3GB and here are its key features:
    -42 Photo-realistic meshes with LODs
    -17 Foliage
    -21 Rocks
    - 4 Trees
    -138 Textures from 2048 up to 8192
-14 Tiling Ground Materials with Normal and Displacement maps
Those interested can download it from here.

Red Dead Redemption style saloon recreated in Unreal Engine 4

We know that Red Dead Redemption 2 should be unveiled at E3 2015 for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC, but this recreation in Unreal Engine 4 is looking seriously nice. Check out some screenshots below.

The screenshots are courtesy of Polycount member 'Matt_Billeci', with a Red Dead Redemption inspired look at a saloon environment using Unreal Engine 4. He explains: "For a while now I have been working on a saloon interior that is inspired by the Red Dead series. I am going for a bit of a high-end saloon and I still have loads of work left to do. With this project, I really wanted to dive into the PBR workflow and UE4. Probably around 60 % of the textures in here have place holder textures. I had used some of Unreal's textures just to make sure that my lighting would bake out correctly. Most of everything is UVed/Lightmap UVed. The goal is to finish the rest of the those and get to texturing and creating a more dynamically lit scene. Any comments or critiques would be much appreciated!"

Unreal Engine 4 Beautiful Rainforest Environment

FlickR’s member ‘Techuser/2′ has shared a number of screenshots from his realistic rainforest map that was created in Unreal Engine 4. The rainforest certainly looks amazing and while some may argue that it might not look as realistic as in CryEngine, it looks absolutely beautiful.

Falling leaves blueprint and grass prop by Philipp Nasahl
3 kinds of leaf textures by Paramecijs
Music by FlybyNo (Dungeon of the Endless OST)
Even though this looks quite nice it’s by no means indicative of the full capabilities of Unreal Engine 4 in recreating foliage or gorgeous environments as it’s all about the texturing and lighting, that really brings a scene to life, something that could improve the quality and realism immensely.
It’s quite exciting to see what developers create with the great possibilities of the Unreal Engine 4, and when we might get a AAA title taking full advantage of the huge potential of the engine.

A few weeks ago a gorgeous Unreal Engine 4 demo was made available for download, that truly showcases the huge potential of the Unreal Engine 4 engine. Additionally Epic’s own “A Boy and his Kite” demo was also made available for download, which perfectly demonstrates the engine’s potential in recreating intricately detailed open world environments.
Ninja Theory’s upcoming PlayStation 4 and PC hack ‘n’ slash title Hellblade is another example of how amazing Unreal Engine 4 can look in the right hands. More on the absolutely gorgeous game will be revealed at E3 2015 in June and we will bring you all the new information and media for the title.
NVIDIA has recently introduced its new Dynamic GI called VXGI. VXGI has been integrated in a separate branch of Unreal Engine 4, and 3D artist “Byzantos” shared his results after experimenting with the new solution.

Byzantos claims that NVIDIA VXGI is the most accurate solution available today. you can view some screenshots and a video of his work, here.
A Beautiful Red Dead Redemption inspired saloon was also recently revealed, created by Polycount’s member ‘Matt_Billeci‘, which gives us a taste of what a current gen Red Dead title could potentially look like. Lets hope that we get to experience a new adventure in the beloved franchise soon enough.
We will bring you any new information on Unreal Engine 4 projects as soon as it becomes available.

Epic Games provides support for SteamVR in Unreal Engine 4.8

Epic Games has been making waves with its new iterations of Unreal Engine, with the latest version including integrated support for Valve's SteamVR platform.

Unreal Engine 4.8 is available right now, with the team at Epic explaining: "Virtual Reality technology is evolving rapidly and becoming more powerful and immersive by the day. Even if you're starting with a simple project to learn VR or AR, build your team, your assets and your workflow around a technology that can deliver on your creative vision - now and in the future. From students just starting out and small teams of veteran developers, to world renowned VFX houses and Hollywood storytellers, you'll never outgrow Unreal Engine 4".

The team continues: "To create immersive experiences that are believable to the human mind, VR requires scenes to be complex scenes rendered at very high framerates. There are no shortcuts. Because it was designed for demanding applications such as AAA games and photoreal visualization, at its core Unreal Engine 4 meets these requirements and provides a solid foundation to build upon".

    • Rendering pipeline that gets you to 90 Hz stereo framerate or faster at high resolutions, no code changes required.
    • Tools that scale from simple to extremely complex scenes, environments and characters.
    • Advanced cinematic, post processing and PBR capabilities out of the box.
    • Plug in your dev kit and go. Low friction startup and rapid iteration.
    • Frequent updates that take advantage of rapidly evolving hardware.
    • Support for all the latest VR hardware including Oculus Rift,Samsung Gear VR, Steam VR, Leap Motion, and Sony Project Morpheus

    Boas!

    Cumprimentos,
