Uncharted 4 story trailer released, Drake is in serious trouble here

The actual underlying story for Uncharted 4: A Thief's End has finally been revealed in a new trailer released by Sony. Retirement didn't quite work out so well for Nathan Drake it seems.

If you're good at your job, then you might not be able to retire at all, and in Drake's case, you could be called to action again by the very nature of your expertise. Treasure, especially the kind of haul that seems to be at stake here, is a dangerous motivator. And Drake was born for this, so why wouldn't he want to get involved?

The blurb below the video reads: "Several years after his last adventure, retired fortune hunter Nathan Drake is forced back into the world of thieves. With the stakes much more personal, Drake embarks on a globe-trotting journey in pursuit of a historical conspiracy behind a fabled pirate treasure. His greatest adventure will test his physical limits, his resolve, and ultimately what he's willing to sacrifice to save the ones he loves."

It all seems pretty exciting, but it also somewhat mirrors the story of a somewhat unsuccessful Indiana Jones movie, where Indie comes back from retirement to recover a rare treasure, uncovering a conspiracy at the same time. It remains to be seen if the action, and spirit of Drake has been captured properly. In the game there's a lot at stake for Nathan Drake, but for Sony, there's a lot at stake for Uncharted 4.

Uncharted 4 Story Revealed in New Trailer

Uncharted 4 is painfully close. It’s only about two months until it hits store shelves, which in terms of game development is about as long as – well, let’s just say we could insert a rather topical joke about Hitler right here.
Unfortunately for us, it feels much, much longer, and that’s partly because this is the moment when marketing gets put into overdrive. Barely a day will go by without some mention of A Thief’s End.
The hype, or at least this latest wave of hype, begins now, with the release of a brand new story trailer.

The two and a bit minute video finally reveals what we can expect from the plot of Uncharted 4, and while there’s still plenty to learn, it’s the biggest info dump for quite some time.
Of course, that’s not the only advantage to this latest look. We also get a glimpse at some absolutely gorgeous visuals.
We’ve seen most of these characters before, but it’s nice to be able to see them in new environments, and for longer. Naughty Dog have definitely pushed themselves, and the landscapes are stunning too.
Uncharted 4 will be available to buy on April 26th in America, and April 29th in Europe.

Naughty Dog Apologizes For Stealing Assassin's Creed Artwork

If you are going to steal art assets from another game for your new trailer, you should probably make sure the pilfered artwork isn't from an Assassin's Creed game. No big deal, someone is probably fired and Naughty Dog has apologized already.

In our eagerness to get the story trailer out we made a regrettable mistake and didn’t thoroughly vet the art work used for an in game painting. We’ve already updated the trailer. We hold all artistry in high regard and take full responsibility for having allowed this to happen. We want to sincerely apologize to everyone at Ubisoft, the Assassin’s Creed team, the original artist, and our fans.

Uncharted 4 Story Changed "100 Percent" After New Directors Came On

"We want it to be a mind-blowing, eye-popping, sweaty-palms adventure."

The story for action-adventure game Uncharted 4: A Thief's End changed "100 percent" when Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley came aboard the project, Druckmann revealed in a new AP interview.

The game was originally in development under the direction of Amy Hennig and Justin Richmond, but they left the studio in early 2014. Though it was not confirmed, reports indicated Hennig was allegedly "forced out" by Druckmann and Straley, a point that the studio has denied.
Druckmann and Straley, who worked on the first Uncharted and its sequel before moving on to The Last of Us, were named co-directors of Uncharted 4 in June 2014, according to Game Informer.
No information was provided as to the specific changes Druckmann and Straley made to the Uncharted 4's story. However, Nathan Drake actor Nolan North shared some insight in an interview last year, saying a lot of work was thrown out after Hennig left Naughty Dog.
The development team "shot eight months of her story and it was all thrown away," he said. "Amy is still a very dear friend of mine and she's brilliant. But the Last of Us guys were the next team there, so they took over and they just wanted their own flavor. They got rid of some of the other people that were involved and just redid their thing."
North said Uncharted 4's overall tone is going to be "slightly different" than Hennig's vision.
"It has to be, you know," he said. "You can't have a Robert Ludlum novel that's going to be the same as Stephen King. It's just that they're different styles. But it's true to the story."
In the AP interview, Straley said Uncharted 4 is the "biggest, most ambitious" game Naughty Dog has ever made.
"We want to do this justice," he said. "We want it to be a mind-blowing, eye-popping, sweaty-palms adventure. Everybody is bleeding out of their eye sockets to make it come together. We want to make sure Drake is sent off properly."
Uncharted 4 is the final entry in the Uncharted series that Naughty Dog plans to develop (but not necessarily the final game in the series) and the last game to star Nathan Drake.
"It's time," Druckmann said. "Sometimes, a character just lets you know it's time to move on. For me, that was part of the intrigue of coming back to this world. You never see something successful in the industry end. It usually just fizzles out."
After multiple delays, Uncharted 4 launches exclusively for PS4 at the end of April.
Just this week, a thrilling new story trailer was released. It was great, but it had a problem, too--it used concept art from Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. Naughty Dog has since apologized for the "regrettable mistake" and released a new version of the video with the art in question removed.

Thankfully, it seems like players in Europe will soon be able to get a taste of the game later this weekend.

A few hours ago an Uncharted 4 Multiplayer Open Weekend has been detailed by the European PlayStation Store. According to the description, this open weekend will be held from March 4th until March 6th. Players will be able to play team deathmatch on three maps based on the locations from the single player campaign.
Get a taste of the Uncharted™ 4 multiplayer action ahead of Nathan Drake’s upcoming adventure, exclusive to PlayStation®4.
During the Open Weekend, which runs from 17:00GMT 4 March and finishes on 6 March, you’re invited to play team deathmatch on three maps based on stunning locations from the single player campaign.

This Uncharted 4 Multiplayer Open Weekend has only surfaced on the European PlayStation Store as of now, but it’s quite likely that it will be held in North America as well. We’ll let you know more as soon as an official announcement comes in on the matter.
Before this Uncharted 4 Multiplayer Open Weekend, fans of the series developed by Naughty Dog have had the chance to try out the game’s multiplayer mode in the beta which has been held back in December. This older multiplayer beta, which could only be accessed by those who pruchased Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, allowed players to play Team Deathmatch on two different maps. Considering that some time has passed since this beta, it will be interesting to see how the team has tweaked the experience for the Multiplayer Open Weekend.
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will launch this April on PlayStation 4 in all regions.

Uncharted 4 Delayed Again, Arriving In May

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End has encountered yet another delay, pushing the game’s anticipated release into May 2016. The game was previously delayed to March and then to April. A post from SCEA CEO Shawn Layden explained the delay lets the Uncharted team receive “extra manufacturing time.”

In an effort to meet the considerable worldwide demand, and to ensure that all gamers worldwide have the opportunity to play the game on day one, we have chosen to postpone the launch of the game by two weeks to allow for extra manufacturing time.
As long as there isn’t another delay, the game will be coming out on May 10, 2016.

    Uncharted 4 Goes Gold

Naughty Dog have announced that their next action adventure title Uncharted 4 has gone gold.

Any work from this point on will go into the inevitable day one patch, rather than onto the disk.

Very glad to say #Uncharted4 has gone gold today!
    Congrats to the team!!!

And although that means the game is now officially finished for all intents and purposes, it absolutely doesn’t mean Naughty Dog’s work is done. They’ll be polishing, fixing bugs and, dare we say it, perhaps even starting to plan DLC. Yeah, probably not.
Of course, this is the kind of news that gets decent reaction, not just from fans of the franchise but from other developers too. It’s hard to beat the offering from the official PlayStation account, which mimics how many of us probably feel.

Uncharted 4 Actors Had Their Facial Expressions Recorded; Environments Have 100s of Destructible Objects

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End recently reached the GOLD status, ending any debate on further delays from the current and final May 10 release date.
Naughty Dog’s first PlayStation 4 game (unless you count The Last of Us Remastered, of course) is certainly late to the party, launching about two years and half after the launch of Sony’s latest console. However, because of this the anticipation is perhaps even bigger and Sony is fostering it with a series of Making Of videos, among many other things.
Today’s episode lets us take a look at how Naughty Dog pushed technical boundaries with Uncharted 4. The eight minutes long footage is well worth a look, but we’ve highlighted two particularly interesting details.
The first one is that, for the first time in the series, the actors didn’t just provide motion capture with their body movements but they also got their facial expressions recorded. According to Nolan North, who plays Nathan Drake as usual, this will be quite the big change.
The biggest change we’ve had in Uncharted 4 would be the use of the head cameras and the facial markings for animations. For the first three games, this has always been hand animated.
Lead Cinematic Animator Eric Baldwin added:
    Advertisements

Now we’re in a unique situation in that we’re now capturing those actors’ faces, and we’re getting all the great detail that that brings in and then we inject the look and feel that we’ve come to expect from the characters that we know.
The PlayStation 4 will also allow environments to be much more interactive than in past Uncharted games. Lead Programmer Christian Gyrling said:
Just the quantity of interactive things in the environment. I mean, we really want our jungles and our environments to feel alive, and being able to have hundreds upon hundreds of objects that can be destroyed and moved around…
Lead Programmer Sandeep Shekar finished the thought:
…it impacts gameplay in that, you know, your cover can be destroyed and you have to move around more. But even outside of that, just seeing all the stuff happening, the screen is so much more alive, the world is so much more alive.
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will probably be the most technically advanced game on PlayStation 4 upon release. Let’s hope it also proves to be one of the best.

Uncharted 4 New Trailer Running Before Batman VS Superman Detailed, New Gameplay Ad Surfaces Online

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, the latest entry of the series developed by Naughty Dogs, is getting closer to release, especially now that the game has gone gold, so it’s not surprising to see Sony and Naughty Dog to promote the game as much as they can. A couple of recent reports have revealed that a new trailer is being shown before the highly anticipated movie Batman VS Superman.

According to NeoGAF user william_557, the new Uncharted 4 trailer has been shown in Australia at a midnight screening of Batman VS Superman. The trailer is made up of several different scenes, some of them already shown in previously released trailers.
I went to the midnight screening of batman vs superman in Aus and flipped out when i saw it
(Ill be going to the movies on monday hopefully it shows up again which ill film on my phone if thats the case)
Pretty sure it was cgi (not the one of him diving for his brothers hand) hes sitting in a burning buildig can’t remember what he says and he flicks a coin towards the screen then there are quick cuts and hes hanging of a car on that waterfall
Another user called jett has reported he watched the new Uncharted trailer before Batman VS Superman. According to jett, however, the trailer didn’t feature any CGI.

I saw a trailer for this game at the movie theater when I went to watch Batman Bin Suparman. First time I see a video game ad at the movies in my country.
It wasn’t CGI, it was a bunch of scenes from the game, mostly cut-scenes from the latest trailer. I think I remember seeing a coin flip.
On a related note, some new small glimpses of Uncharted 4 gameplay have surfaced online in a new video ad. Reddit user Askiles has managed to capture a screenshot of the ad, which you can find below.

Uncharted 4 to Include Stealth Features Borrowed from The Last of Us

Those of you who played and maybe finished The Last of Us should be very glad to hear that Naughty Dog’s upcoming Uncharted 4 title will actually borrow certain stealth features from The Last of Us. Obviously, nobody wants to play an action game in which the enemies are ridiculously easy to take down, which is why the developers have implemented smarter AI-controlled enemies in Uncharted 4, all in the effort of giving gamers a proper challenge. This “smart” factor relies on a series of stealth elements originally seen in The Last of Us, elements that definitely add a touch of realism. Actually, it looks like Uncharted 4 will feature the most reactive and precise AI seen in a video game so far, which sounds very promising.
Apparently, the developers don’t want players to just sit around and wait for the action to come to them, which is why some of the game’s mechanics and AI behaviours will force them to innovate their playing style as they progress. Uncharted 4 Lead Animator Jeremy Yates has stated the following:
“We didn’t want a game where you sit behind one piece of cove and sit there with the ‘stop and pop,’ you’re shooting. We really want you to move through the environment, to outsmart them, to flank them, for them to be able to chase you around and just have that constant motion.”
Overall, Uncharted 4 is shaping up as a very promising title, and I definitely can’t wait to see what it has to offer on May 10 when it is scheduled for an official launch on PlayStation 4 consoles.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End Gets Beautiful Leaked Screenshots

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is finally about a month away from its release, after numerous delays. As usual before major releases, Sony Computer Entertainment allowed the press to go hands-on with the game and the embargo expires tomorrow.
However, Italian website Spaziogames.it broke the embargo by publishing their hands-on preview a couple of hours ago. The article has been taken down now, but not before the screenshots have leaked on the Web; obviously, we’ve gathered them in the gallery below.

If the images above are any indication, it appears that the folks at Naughty Dog once again mastered the hardware at their disposal. It’s likely that Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will be the best looking game on PlayStation 4, between its technical prowess and the stunning artwork.
The game will be the final adventure of beloved protagonist Nathan Drake (once again voiced by Nolan North), who unexpectedly finds out that his brother Sam (voiced by Troy Baker) is actually alive. Sam asks a retired Nathan for help and the two embark once again on a globe-trotting journey in search of a fabled treasure.
We’ll be covering anything relevant on Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, one of the biggest releases due in 2016, as the game approaches its May 10 release. Stay tuned.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End New Gameplay Preview Video Showcases Massive Area

Late last month, another short Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End trailer has been shared online. Uncharted 4 Is the Series’ Longest Game & the Most Varied in Terms of Locations, Says Druckmann

The press embargo for Uncharted 4 previews is up, though we had already brought you some stunning leaked screenshots yesterday.
In particular, a lengthy interview posted by Gamespot contains interesting tidbits of information regarding the game. Creative Director Neil Druckmann (who worked in the same position on The Last of Us) explained that Naughty Dog had the option to either cut a gameplay sequence or delay the game, which is what finally happened. He also mentioned that Uncharted 4 will be the longest game in the series and also the most varied in terms of locations.
When we realised we weren’t going to hit 2015, it was sequences that were just coming online. There’s an option on the table to cut that sequence out and see if you can stitch the game together without it, but you risk hurting pacing and story when you do that. Everything we put in there we felt was necessary to tell the story. It’s very ambitious, it’s the longest Uncharted in the series, and the most varied as far as locations.
I don’t know if it’d be any different with another game, but this being the last one, we don’t want feel like there was a missed opportunity here. We want to know we went out on top with a bang and do everything we intended to do, realise our vision. Like it or not, who knows, but for us, this is the game we wanted to make.

Sony Computer Entertainment also released a brand new 18 minute long gameplay video preview; you can check it out below. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will release on May 10 exclusively for PlayStation 4.
See Nathan, Sam, and Sully explore the plains of Madagascar in this gameplay video.
Several years after his last adventure, retired fortune hunter Nathan Drake is forced back into the world of thieves. With the stakes much more personal, Drake embarks on a globe-trotting journey in pursuit of a historical conspiracy behind a fabled pirate treasure. His greatest adventure will test his physical limits, his resolve, and ultimately what he’s willing to sacrifice to save the ones he loves.

Doughnut Drake Dropped from Uncharted 4

Doughnut Drake, the fat version of Nathan Drake that has been an unlockable bonus since the very first Uncharted game, will not be making an appearance in the next title.
The bonus has been around since the franchise began, but, despite being modelled and ready to go in the first original PlayStation title, the character skin was removed because the developers felt they’ve moved beyond it.
GamesRadar reported that Neil Druckmann felt he no longer wanted to laugh at someone else’s expense, adding that he thought the company had matured beyond that stage.
    He said:
“We actually had the whole thing modelled and in there.
“We had a big debate about it and kind of approached it from all kinds of angles and decided we weren’t comfortable having it in our game.”
The decision has led people to wonder if the skin could be added in as DLC at a later date, so that only those that want it have to deal with it. Of course, that sort of thing will be revealed at a much later date.
If the studio has decided this sort of thing is on the way out, it’ll be interesting to see what bonuses still remain when the game is released over the next month or so.
