Gears of War Ultimate Edition PC Version Coming Out In Early 2016A month ago, we reported the words of The Coalition’s Director of Community Adam Fletcher, who urged fans not to worry about Gears of War Ultimate Edition PC.
According to Fletcher, the team had been working on polish and performance specifically for this version. The game was originally expected to hit the platform before the end of the year, but at this point it’s clear that fans will have to wait 2016.
Still, Xbox Head Phil Spencer mentioned yesterday that it should be released “not too far into 2016”.

Considering that Gears of War Ultimate Edition PC was announced alongside Killer Instinct, which will be debuting on PC in March (coinciding with the start of Season 3), there’s hope that it will launch within Q1 2016.
When it comes out it should be worth it, though. As reported three months ago from an interview with Eurogamer, the developer is making the game a proper showcase: Gears of War Ultimate Edition PC will support 4K, unlocked frame rate, DX12 and async compute.
We have put significant effort into making the Windows 10 version a showcase at 4K, geo and textures were re-authored with 4K in mind so the visual fidelity will really scale up on higher end hardware. We plan to uncap the frame-rate and will ship with a built-in benchmark mode. For anti-aliasing we’ll support MSAA and FXAA.Gears of War Ultimate Edition came out for Xbox One earlier this year. You can read Jeff’s review here and a list of features below.
We are still hard at work optimising the game. DirectX 12 allows us much better control over the CPU load with heavily reduced driver overhead. Some of the overhead has been moved to the game where we can have control over it. Our main effort is in parallelising the rendering system to take advantage of multiple CPU cores. Command list creation and D3D resource creation are the big focus here. We’re also pulling in optimisations from UE4 where possible, such as pipeline state object caching. On the GPU side, we’ve converted SSAO to make use of async compute and are exploring the same for other features, like MSAA.

Gears of War: Ultimate Edition update weighs a hefty 5GBNoticia:A new Gears of War: Ultimate Edition update is hitting the Xbox One today, and the 5GB of space it requires fixes the dreaded matchmaking issues that seemed to make for longer than usual wait times and includes other great bug fixes.
Chief among those is the improvement of hit registration against enemies that are behind cover. That means you won't be able to wall-bang, and also that your weapons will hit where you're aiming now. No wondering why they won't just stay dead. Another major bug they fixed was Boomshot hit registration, where it failed to damage an enemy at all when fired at their feet. It should do something, right? Now it does.
They've also made some changes to the multiplayer map playlists based on some of the feedback they've recently received. They've adjusted the rate at which you earn XP in Execution so it actually matches how you'll earn in other modes. A new competitive team deathmatch playlist has been added for those that enjoy that style of fast-paced mayhem. And Warzone has returned as a permanent member of the social playlist. It left for a short time, though fans were eager to see it return.

Gears of War Ultimate Edition PC Gets Screenshots, File Size & Requirements – Ideal Specs: 16GB RAM + 980Ti/R9 390X
Gears of War Ultimate Edition PC has been sneakily listed on Windows Store. You can’t search for it currently, but somehow Twitter user @M578Fury managed to catch the page, which features nine Gears of War Ultimate Edition PC screenshots. We have grabbed them for your viewing pleasure; they’re not rendered at 4K resolution, but they still give a pretty good idea of what we can expect.
There’s a lot more on the store page, though, such as the file size – a whopping 52.76GB, which will occupy a fair portion of any hard drive.

Of course, possibly the most important information is the one detailing the requirements for Gears of War Ultimate Edition PC. Interestingly, Microsoft has added another type of specs to the usual minimum and recommended: ideal specs. You’ll need Windows 10 and specifically the 1511 build to play the game, too, though that was expected since the game has been remade for DirectX 12.
There’s nothing about the release date, but Microsoft might reveal that information later this week in a press event, so stay tuned. In the meantime, you can check our review of the Xbox One version.
- MINIMUM SPECS: OS 64 bit Windows 10 (v. 1511), Processor: Intel Core i5 @ 2.7Ghz / AMD FX 6-core, Memory: 8 GB RAM (2 GB VRAM), GPU: AMD R7 260x / NVIDIA GTX 650 Ti, HD Space: 60GB, DirectX12
- RECOMMENDED SPECS: OS 64 bit Windows 10 (v. 1511), Processor: Intel Core i5 @3.5GHz+ / AMD FX 8-core, Memory: 16 GB RAM (4 GB VRAM), GPU: AMD R9 290X / NVIDIA GTX 970, HD Space: 60GB, DirectX12
- IDEAL SPECS: OS 64 bit Windows 10 (v. 1511), Processor: Intel Core i7 @4GHz+ / AMD FX 8-core, Memory: 16 GB RAM (6 GB VRAM), GPU: AMD R9 390X / NVIDIA GTX 980 Ti, HD Space: 60GB, DirectX12
- SUPPORTED OS: Windows 10 (64-bit version only) with Windows 10 November update installed (Windows 10 Version 1511)
Gears of War: Ultimate Edition is now available on PC
Noticia:Microsoft has been very tight-lipped on Gears of War: Ultimate Edition on the PC since its announcement last year. However, today the game finally launched completely out of the blue, with full DirectX 12 support and built to impress with 4K graphics.
Aside from that, the PC version of the game comes with an unlocked frame rate and mouse/keyboard support, as you would expect from a shooter on PC.
The game has some system requirements in place too, with the minimums calling for an Intel Core i5, 8GB of RAM and a GTX 650Ti or an AMD R7 260X graphics card. Those looking for a decent experience at 1080p will need an Intel Core i5, 8GB of RAM and a GTX 970 or an R9 290x. Those looking to game at 4K on the other hand will need an Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of RAM and a GTX 980Ti or an R9 390X.
In all cases, the game is only supported on Windows 10. On top of that, it is built using the universal app platform, which means no multi-GPU support so getting high frame rates at 4K may be a struggle at points depending on optimization. The game will also be stuck in Borderless Windowed mode with V-Sync on so that is worth keeping in mind.
Those on Windows 10 can grab the game from Microsoft’s Store App for £22.79.
