YouTube rolls out refreshed web playerNoticia:If you’ve visited YouTube today and noticed something different, you aren’t alone. The Google-owned company has given its web-based video player a sleek new makeover that scores high in the aesthetics department.
The first thing you’ll notice is the transparent control bar which disappears completely after a few seconds of inactivity on your part, just like on mobile. The timeline bar is thin until you mouse over it, making it slightly larger and easier to manipulate.
The settings menu has also been reworked slightly, again, giving it a more mobile-like feel.
Astute viewers may also notice that the “watch later” button has vanished; that’s only partially true. To get to the old feature, enlarge a clip to fullscreen view and look for it in the top right of the video.
YouTube first unveiled its new video player back in April albeit only to a limited number of users. It didn’t take long before someone figured out a simple hack to force the new UI to appear. YouTube eventually rolled the feature out to a larger audience via its TestTube beta experience.
Now, it appears the new UI has been rolled out to everyone on a global scale. I’ve tried the site locally using a couple of different browsers and was able to see the revamped layout each and every time.

Google is trying to make 4K video less demanding on your connection
Noticia:With 4K video becoming more of a 'thing', Google is wanting to get the amount of data it consumes through your Internet connection down to a more acceptable level.
The company is developing a more efficient video compression codec called VP10, which has been in development for over a year now. Compared to H.264, VP9 uses half the bandwidth to provide users with the same quality video, while VP10 halves that again. VP10 will also feature sharper images, better colors, and a better dynamic range between lights and dark.
Google is hoping to reach its performance targets for VP10 by the end of 2016, so we're a little while away yet.

YouTube planning livestreaming 360-degree video supportNoticia:It looks like Google is going to be jumping on the 360-degree video bandwagon, with reports surfacing that YouTube will soon include support for live 360-degree videos.
YouTube already supports 360-degree videos, but not live broadcasted 360-degree videos, which is the big change here. BuzzFeed's report says that YouTube has been having meetings with multiple 360-degree camera manufacturers, as they want to have partners who will build 360-degree livestreaming into their products.
YouTube has plans of creating a new platform that is capable of high-quality, live 360-degree videos, no matter who is shooting them, or what camera they're using.
