Chrome will finally support native notifications on OS X

The Mac OS X notification center has been available to developers for some time, but Google's Chrome browser has historically ignored it in favor of a custom solution that's both clunky and lacklustre.
It seems Google has realized this isn't the best way to deliver notifications to users, and has implemented a new, experimental feature in the latest builds of Chrome that uses the OS X notification center instead. This is the first time Chrome has been able to push notifications to users through Apple's native solution, and it certainly improves the user experience.
With Chrome using native push notifications, you'll no longer run into issues like Chrome popping up over other apps when you receive a message, even if the window is hidden or in another workspace. It also makes Chrome's notifications cohere with the rest of OS X's design.
Google hasn't enabled native OS X notifications by default yet, but there is an experimental flag you can enable if you really want to try it out. To get native notifications, head to about:flags, turn on 'enable native notifications', and restart your browser.

Apple’s Free App Of The Week Is A Stunning Cut The Rope Title – $2 Value

Every week on Thursday, Apple updates its App of the Week promotion in iTunes. This week, the company’s in-house editors have selected Cut the Rope: Time Travel, which will be available to users absolutely for free. This suggests that until next Thursday, you can install the game free of charge. Normally, the app would cost $0.99. Since the is game free on both, iPhone and iPad, it’s a solid $2 worth of saving. If you’re willing to save some extra bucks, head to the App Store and download your free game.

Cut The Rope: Time Travel Goes Free As Apple’s App Of The Week

Cut The Rope: Time Travel is one of the many titles of the game. Players are advised to cut the rope (obviously) and feed Om Nom candy as the journey continues across various locations. The theme of the game has been set in different locations like Middle Ages, Egypt, Pirate Ships, Renaissance, Stone Age, Greece, Disco Era, Wild West, Industrial Revolution and many others.

    The App Store Editors’ Note:
If we had a time machine, we’d probably use it to zip back to last week and buy that winning lottery ticket. But in this centuries-hopping Cut the Rope sequel, Om Nom just wants to hang out with his ancestors and eat candy. Whether we’re flipping ancient switches, deflecting laser beams with ’80s disco balls, or lassoing tasty treats in the Wild West, we love the new elements of brain-twisting challenge. Completing each set of sugar-seeking puzzles is nearly as satisfying as hitting the jackpot–and definitely sweeter.

Basically, the game is a physics puzzler that involves basic know-how. It’s a great adventure game with traveling, candy-crunching, physics based action game that both, kids and grownups can enjoy. If you have played any Cut The Rope Title, the Time Travel experience is pretty much similar. If you’re still not sure, be sure to check out the video below for more details.

If you’re into puzzle games, there might be plenty on the App Store. However, some puzzle titles are either not fun to play or pleasing to the eye. With Cut The Rope, this isn’t the thing. It’s a puzzle game and it carries all the good looks to hook the player for a more immersive gameplay experience. So if you’re interested Cut The Rope: Time Travel is available absolutely free of charge from the App Store as Apple’s App of the Week promotion. The game is available as a free download for both iPhone and iPad.

This is it for now, folks. Be sure to share your thoughts about the game in the comments.

Microsoft’s Hub Keyboard Is Now Available For iPhone

The stock iOS keyboard is great and all, but it does not seem to offer as much services as other third party keyboards on the App Store. Living in the hype for a long time, Microsoft’s Hub keyboard debuted on Android in February. Now, the Keyboard has finally landed on iOS. To be sure, it’s not the same keyboard as you would find in a Windows phone. The ported keyboard has been altered a little to match the working of iOS. Let’s see Microsoft’s keyboard in a little more detail and what makes it different than other keyboard apps on the market.

Hub Keyboard For iPhone Let’s You Accomplice Tasks From Within The Keyboard

Microsoft’s keyboard for iPhone is designed to minimize the efforts of switching between apps as to get the job done. With Microsoft’s keyboard the tasks have been centralized so you don’t have to go through all the app switching. There are some pretty handy tricks that the Hub keyboard has in store for users.

You will be able to quickly share URLs that are collected from the Office 365 documents stored within OneDrive or PowerPoint. Moreover, copy pasting text into messages have never been this easy. Contact information can also be shared very quickly. However, be sure that the information is stored in your office 365 account or the device itself. This is the functionality that not all third party keyboards offer.
Isn’t it painful to switch between apps just to complete your routine on-the-go tasks?
Hub Keyboard, a Microsoft Garage project, lets you stay in context by bringing information from different services to your fingertips and help complete your tasks faster. Sign in with your Office 365 work or school account to unlock access to more information.

The Office 365 integration is indeed an important aspect of the Hub keyboard. Currently, the keyboard functions in the English language alone, but Microsoft is working on other languages as well. The Hub keyboard can be easily installed on your iPhone, just like any other third party keyboard. Simply head to Settings > General > Keyboards > Add New Keyboard and then select Hub from the given list.

Even though it isn’t anything like Microsoft’s WordFlow keyboard, users would still find it pretty helpful in their day to day working. If you’re an Office 365 user, Hub keyboard is definitely worth a try. The keyboard is available for free on the App Store.
This is it for now, folks. Will you be giving Microsoft’s keyboard a whirl? Let us know in the comments.

Love Downloading Paid iOS Apps For Free? Here’s A Massive Bunch Of Them!

If you’re an iOS user and spare no moment to download a paid app or game for free, then you’ve come to the right place, as we have a boatload of premium titles which you can download without spending a single dime!

We Have A Great Bunch Of Paid Apps And Games That You Can Download For Free – Limited Time Offer!

Apps and games go free on a regular basis on the App Store, but good titles do so on a very occasional basis and tend to slip under the radar in a lot of cases. But don’t worry, today we went out on a massive hunt just for our dear readers and came back with a massive bunch of apps and games that usually command a premium price tag. But for an extremely limited period of time you can grab all of these titles for free, so pick up your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and hit that download button before the developer changes their mind!

We’re pretty certain that you’ll find something in there that will prove to be extremely useful for you. And while the list has a majority of games in there, the app selection is not to be taken lightly either with titles like Defocus etc.

It’s worth noting at this point that these offers might not be available in every region, so make sure the app / game is not carrying a price tag before you tap that download button. If there’s a price tag right next to the app’s name instead of ‘Get’ then the offer is not available to you and you have to pay for that specific title.
There’s also a possibility that the app and game will regain its original price tag without any prior notice, so be vigilant when you go ahead with your downloading spree. Also be on a lookout for more offers like these, so stay tuned to our coverage in the future.
Which app or game did you download first from the bunch? Be sure to let us know about it in the comments section below.

This Mac App Lets You Drag And Drop Videos To Instantly Create GIFs

If you’re a GIF fanatic and happen to have a Mac with you, then you’ll be pleased to learn that there exists an app in the wild that lets you drag and drop videos into it to instantly create GIF files.

Creating GIFs On A Mac Has Become A Drag & Drop Affair With Drop To GIF App

Given the current state of the Internet, it’s safe to assume that GIFs have finally taken over and have become the go-to luxury to express one’s feeling in the most elaborate manner possible. But while there are hundreds of millions of GIF images floating in the wild which you can make use of, wouldn’t it be great if you could create your own in the simplest way ever? Sure you can with the likes of GIF Brewery, but the process is a tad bit complicated, given you like to keep things as simple as possible.
Enter Drop to GIF app for the Mac which allows to simply drag and drop a video file and it will be instantly turned into a GIF image. It absolutely doesn’t get any more easier than this and we’re sure many of you out there are going to have a ton of fun getting to grips with it as well.

    Advertisements

Once downloaded and installed from GitHub for free, simply launch it and you’re ready to convert videos into GIF files. And in case you’re wondering, you do get a bunch of settings to play around with, allowing you to alter the frame rate as well as the quality of the GIF.
Parallels Desktop 11 With Windows 10 Support, El Capitan, Always-On Cortana Released

We recommend that you experiment with short video clips at first before you make the giant leap of converting something big. You want the right blend of frame rates and quality before signing off the GIF. After all, you don’t want to end up something that’s either too big to send, or a complete mess in terms of quality. You need to get things ‘just right.’
As we mentioned before, Drop to GIF is absolutely free to download and is available over at GitHub. While the app does have some tradeoffs, but its ease of use is absolutely an icing on the cake. But, if you’re looking for something a bit more kick and something that’s loaded with features and whatnot, then look no further than GIF Brewery on the Mac App Store, which currently commands a price tag of $4.99.
The choice is extremely yours which app you want to stick with. But since Drag to Gif is free, therefore look into its prowess first before going ahead with anything else.

Apple pulls multiple Reddit apps from App Store, dislikes NSFW options

Apple recently pulled multiple Reddit apps from the App Store, apparently due to its wariness of not safe for work (NSFW) content. Narwhal, Eggplant, and Antenna -- among many other apps -- were pulled.

Many apps have since been restored after removing their NSFW options; the official Reddit app doesn't seem to have ever been removed, although it was required to axe its "Safe for Work Browsing" toggle. With this, it's clear Apple wants Reddit app makers to avoid custom options on that front and to leave it up to Reddit account settings instead, possibly because having such a toggle implies said NSFW content exists.

"This is a feature we previously refined with Apple's help. We were surprised by the notice," said a Reddit employee under the username ggAlex. "We just resubmitted our build. We were not informed that Apple would be removing other apps. We were very upset to see that they did. Honestly, if we were interested in getting rid of 3rd party apps (which we're not), this would be the stupidest possible way to accomplish it."

"We suggest all 3rd party apps similarly remove settings for safe for work browsing."

Apple App Store To Get A Massive Revamp, Paid Search Results In Tow As Well

The App Store is somewhat of a mess right now, specially when it comes to search. But this whole fiasco could become a thing of the past, as a new report has surfaced, claiming that the Cupertino outfit is working tirelessly behind the scenes to revamp the App Store while also bringing other features to the table that will benefit developers.

Apple Is Working To Revamp The Search Capabilities Of The App Store

According to a report published by Bloomberg, Apple has a secret team of 100 people, headed by Apple Vice President Todd Teresi, who used to lead the iAd initiative from Cupertino itself. The team is working to enhance the search capabilities of the App Store giving users more relevant results when they type certain keywords.
But that’s not all, the company is even looking into the possibility of allowing developers to buy certain keywords so that their apps or games are more prominent in search results whenever a user types in a certain keyword. For example, Instagram could buy the keyword ‘image editing’ and their app would come out on top every time a user searches for it on the App Store.
It’s absolutely unknown at this time when these changes will be made live for everyone to use. But if the amount of effort Apple is putting into this is anything to go by, then our gut feeling tells us we should see it roll out with the introduction of iOS 10 at WWDC 2016.

Feedly for iPhone Brings RSS Loveliness To Apple Watch

While we do support the idea, we really wish Apple works on revamping the search feature of the App Store in such a way that new and latest iOS supporting apps come out on top every single time when a search is kicked off. At this point in time there are hundreds of thousands of apps in the App Store that haven’t been updated to even support the newer iPhones or iPads. Heck, they haven’t been updated to support even iOS 7, but they still come out on top whenever a search is initiated in a lot of cases. This is something which Apple should be working on the most.
We have a good feeling that Apple will eventually listen to our cry for help in the days and months to come, but till then we have this good news of the incoming search feature of the App Store to drool over.
Do leave your thoughts and opinions about this report in the comments section below.
