    Tópico Oficial Wii U

    Site Oficial: http://www.nintendo.com/wiiu

The Wii U (Japanese: ウィー ユー Hepburn: Wī Yū?, pronounced /ˌwiː ˈjuː/) is a home video game console from Nintendo and the successor to the Wii.[9] The system was released on 18 November 2012 in North America; 30 November 2012 in the PAL regions, and on 8 December 2012 in Japan.[10][11] As the first entry in the eighth generation of video game home consoles,[12][13][14] it competes with Sony's PlayStation 4and Microsoft's Xbox One.
The Wii U is the first Nintendo console to support high-definition graphics. The Wii U's primary controller is the Wii U GamePad, which features an embedded touchscreen. The screen can be used either as a supplement to the main display (either providing an alternate, asymmetric gameplay experience, or a means of local multiplayer without resorting to a split screen), or in supported games, play the game directly on the GamePad without using a television. Games can support any combination of the GamePad, Wii Remote, Nunchuk, Balance Board, or Nintendo's more traditionally-shaped Wii U Pro Controller for input. The Wii U is backwards compatible with most games released for the Wii. Online functionality on the Wii U centers around Miiverse, an integrated social networking service which allows users to share content in game-specific communities.

Iwata: Exchange Rates Preventing Wii U Price Cut

Nintendo President and CEO Satoru Iwata has told Time that the high price of the Wii U has hurt its sales. The Wii U price has remained high due to the current exchange rates between the yen and the dollar and the yen and the euro.
"I think, to be honest, we were in a difficult situation," said Iwata. "Because for the home console our biggest market opportunity was in the overseas markets in the U.S. and Europe, but because of the valuation of the yen and the exchange rates into dollars and euro, it made it a difficult proposition for us to capitalize on that, because of the cost that we were forced to sell the system at."
A Wii U neste momento tem o melhor line-up de exclusivos das consolas, mas mesmo assim, um corte de preços dava jeito para aumentar as vendas. Pena que isso não aconteça tão breve.

Top 5 Best Wii U Games You Can Play Right Now

The Wii U is the underdog, the little engine that could. It was released with a lot of hype, though it quickly fell by the wayside as just a tiny update to the original Wii. It didn’t offer anything substantial at the time of release, and certainly didn’t capture the hearts and minds of gamers alike until just recently, when we all seemed to catch on to the fact that Nintendo has some very ambitious, and well delivered, exclusives on their hands. Fantastically so. This console can be enjoyed by kids and adults alike, with a plethora of good games. But these are what I believe are the top 5 best Wii U games you can currently get your hands on.
Keep in mind that these aren’t necessarily in any particular order, but they all should be seriously looked at for the content and stories they deliver. Not to mention the downright amazing amounts of fun that can come from them.

Top 5 best Wii U games that will hopefully convert you to Nintendo

    5. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD

What a great surprise to have had this gem remade for the Wii U. It’s no Majora’s Mask, but the playful graphics and great control scheme help you to relive this 2003 GameCube classic in style. You’d be hard pressed to figure this game is as old as it is. The search for your kidnapped sister across vast oceans and through superbly rendered landscapes as you utilize a thoughtfully laid out combat system to slay Ganon’s minions. The characters are both whimsical and deep at the same time, belying the “kiddie” nature it was originally criticized for. You can easily get lost in the open world with plenty of side quests to keep you busy. Plus this’ll have to help tide you over until the new 2016 release date for the new Wii U Zelda entry.

    4. Mario Kart 8

What list wouldn’t be complete without Mario Kart 8? It was a smashing entry into the world of Mario Kart racing, and it more than deserves to be on this best Wii U game list. Aside from vastly improved graphics, the wacky gameplay elements were kept intact and the better aspects of the Mario Kart franchise were improved upon in ways that need to be experienced. Track design has take on another higher level of sophistication, giving plenty of options on how to complete them and win, the controls are even more improved than before giving the best arcade like experience of any racing game I’ve played yet. Not to mention the great characters whose banter and animations are absolutely fantastic. Luigi Death Stare has made the rounds as a meme I believe. The best part, though? The competition with real friends sitting next to you and over the Internet alike. It’s a great game to get together and play together. It’s wholly satisfying.

    3. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate

This is really in a genre that the Monster Hunter franchise created, and it’s a love it or hate it affair, usually. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is an action RPG that lets you do just as the name implies, hunt for gigantic monsters for resources and other things so that you can get more gear. The story takes a back seat in this third Ultimate edition, but that doesn’t mean it’s any less fun. The emphasis on quests, combat and the gloriousness of taking down some very impressively rendered monsters is amazing. It also has one of the best multiplayer experiences you’ll find on the Wii U. Even if you’ve never been a fan of the series, this is one that truly takes advantage of what the Wii U has to offer and shows just how amazing a console it can be. You can lose yourself in this for countless hours.

    2. Super Mario 3D World

Super Mario 3D World was another surprise in the waiting. At first glance it looks like any other open world Mario game from years past, but it ups the ante considerably from the Mario 64 days. The 3D world and the levels within are just fabulous. It’s challenging without being frustrating and the platforming is something that even I can get into. Combine forces with the characters you love to rescue the Sprixies from Bowser, and use those masterly designed levels to your advantage to do so. But it’s less about the silly plot and more about the silly gameplay that ensues. It’s crowd pleaser and something that you probably skipped over, but rest assured that it provides a surprising amount of fun in a well put together package.

    1. Bayonetta 2

The childlike image should stop with this game right here. Bayonetta 2 is a purely adult game that makes no pretenses as to the content therein. It’s an exotic game for what is usually such a gentle little console. Attach whatever weapons you like to our heroine as you participate in some of the most grisly action scenes since God of War. The combo system is plentiful, allowing for great animations to be displayed on screen and everything is gorgeously rendered. It’s a positively staggering experience. Take control of the heroine and witch Bayonetta once again as you attempt to reach the top of Fimbulventr, fighting for every meter. The story is engrossing and, of course, over the top, but it’s that extravagant story that really sets it above and beyond a lot of games, for any platform. It’s quite satisfying, and shouldn’t be missed whatsoever.
Like always, remember that this list is never all inclusive, but a list of games that truly show off the incredibly capabilities of the Wii U, and that are certainly some of the must haves for the system. But this best Wii U games list should at least provide a starting point for those that are looking to be a bit adventurous and delve into Nintendo’s newest console before they release their next one.

Let us know what games brought light into your life in the comments, we’d love to hear what you guys think should be the top 5 best Wii U games out there.

Virtual Console to get DS and N64 titles soon

During Nintendo Direct this year we have had quite a few small yet significant announcements, but one of them was very exciting indeed. The virtual console within the Wii U is going to be filled with DS and N64 titles in the near future.

Nintendo is planning on adding the DS and N64 as emulated options in the Virtual Console.

Nintendo is finally making good on the promise they made last year that they would be expanding on the library and capabilities of the Virtual Console. Right now on the Virtual Console of the Wii U you can find Yoshi’s Island DS and Super Mario 64, the first of many games to come. The next games we’ll see on April 9th and that day will see the release of Yoshi’s Touch & Go DS and WarioWare Touched DS, while on April 30th we’ll get to enjoy Paper Mario 64.
I think it’s great that they’re cornering the emulation market with legitimate and officially supported games and hardware. While emulators are certainly good options and work well enough, they are also of questionable legality (they are, but at times may not be). Who doesn’t want an officially supported Nintendo version anyway.

The following are the release dates that we’re aware of at the moment. And no, this isn’t an April Fools joke from yesterday, this is legitimate. So check out your Virtual Console to see the new titles and more great classics.
    April 1st

    • Super Mario 64
    • Yoshi’s Island DS

    April 9th

    • Yoshi’s Youch & Go DS
    • WarioWare Touched DS

    April 16th

    • Donky Kong 64

    April 23rd

    • Mario Kart DS

    April 30th

    • Paper Mario 64

Agora foi a vez da Nintendo ser apanhada a mostrar jogos da Wii U a correr em PCs.
Já não é só a Sony e a MS a tentar enganar os jogadores.

Nintendo Explains Why the Wii U Failed

While the Wii U has experienced strong, if not spectacular, sales figures over the last eighteen months, its early years are universally recognised as disastrous. Now, in a candid conversation with Polygon, the Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime has confirmed what many other people have speculated regarding the initial failure of the current-gen console: it didn’t have the games.
Speaking during E3, Fils-Aime told Polygon, “This industry is all about content. I can map out why the Wii took off at launch, it had two killer pieces at launch: Twilight Princess, Wii Sports. Look at our DS business. Our DS business was OK, but it was the launch of DS Lite, the launch of Nintendogs, the launch of the first New Super Mario Bros. where that system sort of dramatically took off.”
“So what happened with Wii U?” he said. “Once the software came that showcased the capabilities of the system, guess what happened? The hardware took off.”
“I think it began holiday of 2013 as we prepped those launches that gave us some momentum,” Fils-Aime added. “Then Mario Kart 8 hit, then it was Smash. I think it really was holiday of ’13, when we started to get the momentum.”
A cursory glance at the global sales figures of the console, from launch to present, confirms Fils-Aime’s assessment:

This lines up with a statement Nintendo President Shigeru Miyamoto made in 2013, admitting that the company spent too much time developing innovative hardware and not enough time producing games for it. “We’re really focused on delivering content that takes advantage of that GamePad interaction and makes that second screen something that’s very meaningful and so that’s where we need to put our focus,” Miyamoto said.
Thank you Polygon for providing us with this information.

Nintendo: Wii U failed because of the controller, and launch timing

Nintendo hasn't had the best run with the Wii U, with Nintendo's legendary designer Shigeru Miyamoto talking with Fortune recently, where he had some interesting things to say.

There have only been 9.54 million units sold, making the Wii U the slowest-selling Nintendo console of all time. During his interview with Fortune, Miyamoto said: "I feel like people never really understood the concept behind Wii U and what we were trying to do. I think the assumption is we were trying to create a game machine and a tablet and really what we were trying to do was create a game system that gave you tablet-like functionality for controlling that system and give you two screens that would allow different people in the living room to play in different ways".

It was all bad timing with the tablet-like controller with the Wii U, where Miyamoto added: "Unfortunately, because tablets, at the time, were adding more and more functionality and becoming more and more prominent, this system and this approach didn't mesh well with the period in which we released it. I still feel it was a very novel approach - and a very interesting idea".

But what about the next generation NX console from Nintendo? Miyamoto teased that he is stepping back from its development, where he said: "Of course I am observing and looking at the hardware, but I am not actively participating and making decisions".

Nintendo announces end of TVii service

Less than six months on from the announcement that Nintendo’s TVii service was not going to be localised for European audiences, the Japanese game maker has now let us know that it will be closing the service down entirely. Designed to make TV watching more of a communal experience, with commenting and doodling from those watching the same shows, the service will now end on the 11th August at 3PM PT.
The reason TVii was never launched in Europe and the UK, was because of the difficulty in localising the many different TV providers and services within the continent. Over in the US however, it came together quite well, offering people not only the ability to interact via their Wii U during TV shows, but also gave them the ability to control cable channels and other features with the Wii U gamepad.

It was also designed to give people access to their streaming services via one application. While that can still happen outside of TVii, users may miss the social element of viewing different streams and shows communally. In the announcement on Nintendo’s TVii community page, while some have been uncaring about the news, many others are saddened that one of the more unique features of the Wii U is being shut down.
However, this is all part of Nintendo’s revamping of the MiiVerse system this summer. It plans to make gaming much more social, with the ability for people to more easily take and store screenshots, share artwork with one another, look at game guides of people’s “gaming diaries,” to see where they are in the game and start discussions on community pages.

Nintendo's Wii U finally tops 10 million units sold

Nintendo has finally sold more than 10 million Wii U units, with the sales figure reached during its fiscal quarter that ended last month.

During its most recent quarter, the company sold only 470,000 units - a drop from 510,000 units year-over-year.

The Wii U publicly launched across the world in November, and has endured an incredibly slow growth rate - though Nintendo hopes that begins to change with games such as Splatoon.

As the Microsoft Xbox One and Sony PlayStation 4 continue to generate most interest among console gamers, Nintendo has struggled to carve out its own position in the competitive market. The company is looking ahead to its codenamed NX next-generation console, which is expected to be revealed in 2016.

Xbox boss says Nintendo has 'the best first-party' games on the planet

Xbox boss Phil Spencer has nothing but praise for Nintendo it seems, where he recently talked with Eurogamer at Gamescom 2015 saying that Nintendo has "the best first-party on the planet".

Spencer was asked if console-exclusive games can still be system sellers, where he said that the Wii U has the best exclusive games. But, the Wii U sales haven't been too strong, even with those kick ass first-party games, where Spencer deflected criticism over Wii U sales. He reiterated that publishers still can't beat "the strength of IP that Nintendo has". He added: "On the Wii U, I think people downplay how many units they've sold".

He continued: "I've got a Wii U, I think there's some great games on there. I think Splatoon's a really nice game and I don't think there's a first-party out there that has the strength of IP that Nintendo has. They're always a beacon to me when I look at what it means to build a first-party portfolio of products, they've done a great job".

Nintendo Direct Returns This Thursday With Wii U and 3DS News

Nintendo Direct, their own online presentations regarding future products, is indeed returning on the 12th of November at 5PM ET. There should be some exciting news regarding future releases for both the Wii U and the 3DS. You’ll be able to watch via their Twitch channel.

    Follow
    Nintendo UK @NintendoUK

[Shibata] I hope you will join me for a new #NintendoDirectEU with updates on upcoming #WiiU & #3DS games on 12/11!

Nintendo Direct is back after a short hiatus.

Ninendo Direct has always been a very lighthearted and fun way for Nintendo’s President, Satoru Iwata, to present the news. He always seemed to very much enjoy talking about and playing with his companies creations. It was also quite the joy to watch, being very entertaining.
The future of the Nintendo Direct series was somewhat unknown following the passing of Nintendo’s President, and the host of Direct, Satoru Iwata. The show took a brief hiatus as the company properly grieved, restructured and determined who would, if anyone, become the new host. On September 15th we learned that they’d continue, though no details had emerged as to when or who would take up the mantle of the host.
For this show we’re promised news about the Wii U and 3DS specifically, and Nintendo is insistent that there will be nothing shown or said about the NX console or even their mobile ventures.

Nicalis Founder Claims The Wii U Isn’t Much More Powerful Than The PlayStation Vita

Since the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Nintendo’s consoles haven’t been the most powerful systems on the market. However, in the wider scheme of things, this doesn’t necessarily matter given Nintendo’s incredible line-up of first-party exclusives. Even the Wii had a great selection of hidden gems, and iconic classics such as The Last Story. On another note, it’s easy to forget the Nintendo Gamecube is technically more powerful than Sony’s PlayStation 2.
Clearly, the Wii U is underpowered which resulted in a complete lack of third-party support. Arguably, this impacted on the system’s sales figures and made the console perform extremely poorly. On the other hand, Wii U owners are generally very happy with the console and purchased it for Nintendo’s core line-up. According to Tyrone Rodriguez, founder of Nicalis, the Wii U is only slightly more powerful than the PlayStation Vita:

Stop lying to yourself, the Wii U is not much more powerful than a PS Vita

This isn’t a shocking revelation given the Wii U’s fairly mediocre technical specification. To reiterate, this doesn’t really matter providing Nintendo’s core software line-up is strong. While the Wii U is lacking in games, the titles on the system are overwhelmingly fantastic from Bayonetta 2 to Mario Kart 8. It’s all well and good having a good specification, but on consoles, the software line-up is vital.
Currently, Rodriguez is working on the Binding of Issac: Rebirth for current generation consoles and struggling due to technical limitations:

Honestly, this is just another example of a developer making public outbursts on social media. While his point has some validity, the manner in which he’s voiced this opinion is only bound to cause unnecessary drama. Furthermore, Xenoblade Chronicles X is a Wii U exclusive which contains a map larger than Skyrim, Fallout 4 and The Witcher 3 combined! This really puts Rodriguez’s comments into perspective and outlines the importance of software optimization. While he might be a champion for the PlayStation Vita, Sony has pretty much abandoned first-party support for the system.

Standalone Wii U Gamepads Finally on Sale but Only in Japan!

Nintendo’s Wii U console is characterized by the tablet-style gamepad which allows you to keep playing while another family memory takes over the TV. Furthermore, certain games like Super Mario Maker can effectively use the device’s dual screen functionality to create a truly unique experience. However, the Wii U’s hardware is flawed as third-party support is non-existent and developers rarely invested the time to properly use the gamepad’s screen. This is such a shame as the gamepad has a great deal of potential. Nevertheless, most people purchase a Nintendo console to play first party titles such as Zelda and Mario. One problem is the Wii U gamepad can only be purchased with a console unless you buy a second hand unit from eBay. This is a nightmare as consumers have to buy a brand new console just to find a replacement.
Thankfully, the Wii U gamepad is pretty reliable and Nintendo hardware doesn’t fail very often. As of today, you can now buy a standalone Wii U controller directly from Nintendo Japan for ¥12,800 ($104). This isn’t just for replacement purposes as Engadget reports the Wii U will support dual gamepads in the near future. Unfortunately, there’s no indication if standalone gamepads will arrive in the west, but it’s a possibility. Please note, do not import the Wii U gamepad from Japan unless you have a Japanese console. Nintendo in their infinite wisdom have decided to region lock the gamepad, which means it will not work in western territories. Also in the UK, prepare to be stung with customs duty, and a Royal Mail handling fee.
Perhaps, Nintendo sees a future with the gamepad in their next console, but only time will tell.
