World's first Wii U emulator can run Mario Kart 8

Current-gen console emulation hasn't hit its stride just yet, but tweakers and coders are making significant progress on the world's first Nintendo Wii U emulator, which can now run Mario Kart 8.

As you can see in the footage above, the emulated Mario Kart 8 doesn't fully mirror its console counterpart. Despite the slower frame-rates and lower graphics, the game is still indeed playable. The current build of Cemu 1.1.2b is much more stable than the glitchy mess that was showcased back in October, showing how far the emulator has come in just two months. The Wii U emulator Cemu is far from finished and we won't see PC gamers whizzing around the Rainbow Road during the holidays, however the day might come sooner than later with proper community support.

It'll be interesting to see how Cemu takes shape in the coming months, and if Wii U games will actually join the roster of emulated systems on the PC. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One have yet to be emulated, but a hacker claims to have jailbroken the PlayStation 4 to allow system function tweaks and open the doors for custom homebrew firmware.

Below we have a spec sheet of the PC test build that was used to capture the footage. The Cemu emulator traditionally favors AMD video cards over NVIDIA, most likely because the Wii U's APU was tailor-made by AMD. The Wii U emulator doesn't play well with Intel integrated HD graphics, but will run on OpenGL.

    PC Specs:

    • i5 3570k @ 4.4Ghz
    • GTX 770 2GB
    • 8GB DDR3

    Graphics Card Compatibility:

    • NVIDIA GPU: Runs as expected on most recent driver.
    • AMD GPU: Runs as expected on most recent driver.
    • Intel GPU: Visual glitches but runs if OpenGL version is supported.

Exactamente as mesmas specs que o meu PC actual. Que grandes avanços, muito bem.

Mario Kart 8 is now 'fully playable' on CEMU, the Wii U emulator

The latest version of CEMU, the popular Nintendo Wii U emulator, promises some great performance increases and working sound in Mario Kart 8.

CEMU v1.2.0 features a 9-12FPS performance boost, with the video above showing Mario Kart 8 running on the latest version of the Wii U emulator.

2016 For Nintendo Fans, Between The WiiU & The NX

It’s been tough recently for Nintendo fans. At the beginning of each year since the Wii U’s launch, the dedicated have all echoed the same thing: “This is the year. This is the year Nintendo has a fantastic line-up and the Wii U comes into its own.” Unfortunately, the dawn of 2016 seems to bring about a different story, with the Nintendo faithful instead worriedly whispering “Will the Wii U die with dignity?”
It’s easy to understand why. There is, in fact, an amazing range of titles available for Nintendo’s little console that could, but to say it’s a bit of a disappointment is an understatement. Titles like Yoshi’s Woolly World and Kirby and the Rainbow Curse offer great distractions, but these titles aren’t the blockbusters the Wii U needed, nor the essentials the fans wanted.
Having said that though, it’s not over yet. 2016 might be the year the Wii U dies, but it’ll die with the dignity and grace it so rightfully deserves.
First off – support for the Wii U games you already know and love isn’t over yet. It was only last month that the impossible became reality and Cloud Strife was released in Super Smash Bros., along with the announcement for Fire Emblem’s Corrin and the infamous Umbran Witch Bayonetta. Both are predicted to land on Wii U in February, finding a place in an otherwise pretty barren line-up for Q1.
Splatoon is still getting DLC support too, at least for the remainder of January! We can hope for some support past this, but unfortunately Nintendo isn’t offering any promises, leading me to believe that January will likely see the end of regular Splatoon DLC, with perhaps some sporadic weapons and maybe a stage releasing in the months following.
That’s not the end of the Wii U in 2016 though – by my reckoning there’s at least five brand new titles that are looking to be Wii U essentials, with the first of those being The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD, coming out in March. Twilight Princess has always been judged a bit harshly, with many claiming it to be the weakest in the series – those people have forgotten that, while Twilight Princess may be a low-point in the series for visual design, some of the dungeons are the best the series has ever had. It even has a Water Temple that won’t cause an aneurysm.
Yeah, I know, an HD remaster is hardly cause for celebration – so it’s a good thing we have Star Fox Zero coming just a few months later. Star Fox Zero is being made by action game veterans Platinum. The game has already received a bit of criticism for heavy use of the GamePad – which many gamers still believe to be entirely unnecessary – but the minor delay the game received from 2015 has hopefully sharpened the controls to a fine point. In Platinum We Trust.

Pokkén Tournament is another new contender this year. Already released as an arcade game in Japan, Pokkén is making its way onto the Wii U worldwide, and with Tekken veterans at the helm the game is setting up to be pretty great. Ever since I was a child, I just wanted to have a Pokémon battle like they do in the anime and this game might just deliver that promise. I personally can’t wait to rumble with Lucha Pikachu!
RPG fans are catered for too (finally!) with the game formerly known as Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem, also known as Genei Ibun Roku #FE – or as I like to call it, Persona U #FE. It’s true, the game looks to have much more in common with the lighthearted Persona series as opposed to the darker Shin Megami Tensei, especially with its focus on teen idols, but with Atlus paving the way forward I’ve no doubt that the fundamentals of this title will still be hardcore RPG battles – with a few Fire Emblem influences in the form of summons and the series’ staple weapon triangle.
And then, after all of that, we get what we’ve all been waiting for. The game that will truly decide the Wii U’s fate – will it be the Nintendo’s most successful masterstroke, with The Legend of Zelda U creating a new precedent in open world design, or will the new Zelda be a bit of a flop? Only time will tell. All I can promise is that you’ll likely hear a very loud, painful scream coming from Middle England should it be delayed or moved to the NX…
And on that note… The NX is definitely on its way, or at least that’s what all the rumors are telling us. If what everyone’s saying is true, then we’ll have a full NX reveal in the first half of this year (perhaps at E3 2016) and a full retail release before Christmas. It almost seems a little too much, honestly – it would be a lot of work for Nintendo to get it out and have a half-decent game library at launch. Not to say it’s impossible, but it seems like a stretch. But what exactly will the NX be, anyway?
If patents and the way the industry is changing is any indicator, then the NX is likely to be a handheld and home console hybrid, with games that you can both take with you on the go and then continue playing by plugging your handheld into a dock at home, giving the system a performance boost, enhancing the graphics for your big HDTV. And of course, some games will be designed to play solely with the enhanced power of the two devices working together, and some solely with a handheld experience in mind.
It makes a lot of sense when you consider Nintendo’s continued success in the handheld market, and with their DeNA partnership (which we’ll also see for the first time this year) providing more visibility for the Nintendo IPs and brands this could be the year that Mario, Zelda, Pokémon and more reclaim the spotlight.
Or it might be a Wii 2 that does nothing differently. But I’d doubt it. There have also been leaks about patents detailing a cloud based system to increase performance – in that regard, the Nintendo NX could actually be an innovative platform.
This feels like a make-or-break year in the gaming industry for Nintendo, but one thing we can be certain of is that while other game companies will focus on VR and higher definitions, Nintendo will be doing something different entirely. And that’s reason enough to keep your eye on them.

Estou curioso para ver que novidades eles vão apresentar num aparalho que só faz 900p, que vai ser altamente cativante e ser um sucesso de vendas.

Curious about the Nintendo Direct Wii U/3DS event? Watch it here

Nintendo is holding yet another Direct presentation today that's supposed to be all about the future of the Wii U and the 3DS, their beloved consoles. And if you'd like to take a peek at what they'll announce during the event, you can watch it below. It'll kick off today at 2PM PT/5PM ET.

    Watch live video from Nintendo on http://www.twitch.tv;

It's no secret that development on the Wii U has slowed down since Nintendo starting talking about their next generation console. The NX has taken up the spotlight, and even some of this years most anticipated games have been delayed. The next Legend of Zelda might even end up being a launch game due to its release window.

But their machines aren't done quite yet, and we're still expecting a few good games still for the Wii U this year. Star Fox Zero, Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and even Pokken Tournament are all expected through the summer of this year. The Wii U might not be the best selling console, but Nintendo is still very commited to their ecosystem.

Nintendo Wants Us To Download More And Move On From Discs

I’m out of the loop in regard to all the little ways Nintendo is incentivizing things these days, but this article suggests the company is making some effort to get people to go digital. If you prefer physical copies of games, what would it take to convince you to go digital?

When we broke down the My Nintendo economy - as it is in Japan so far - it was immediately clear that the Platinum rewards are more universal, engaging those that may dabble in Miitomo, for example. As mentioned above the Gold rewards require plenty of hard cash to be spent on games, be they smaller 'Nindie' efforts or full-blown retail titles. That's how loyalty programmes work, of course, providing occasional treats after plenty of commitment and spend, but the equivalent of around four retail downloads for a free $20 Wii Virtual Console game gives an idea of how much Nintendo wants us to shift to the eShop.

    Boa noite,

Nintendo is reportedly ending Wii U production this year

Nintendo's Wii U went on sale in November 2012, but sales of the device since then have been far lower than its PlayStation and Xbox rivals, and lower too than its own predecessor, the hugely popular Wii. The tepid market reception to the console eventually forced the company to slash its sales forecast for its 2013 fiscal year from a projected 9 million units down to just 2.8 million.

It looks like the Wii U's days are now numbered, as Japanese financial journal Nikkei reports that Nintendo is preparing to end production of the console sometime this year. The report also claims that Nintendo has already stopped production of various accessories for the Wii U.

We've known for some time that Nintendo is already working on its next-generation console, under the development codename 'Project NX'. Earlier this year, the company's president said that it won't be a 'successor' to the Wii U, saying that the NX is "something that is based on an entirely new idea".

However, the end of Wii U production - assuming that Nikkei's report is accurate - cannot be taken as implicit confirmation that the NX will go on sale this year.

Nintendo won't stop making the Wii U in 2016

With the Nintendo NX on the way, Japanese news outlet The Nikkei delivered not-so-surprising reports that Nintendo would cease production of the Wii U console in 2016. The Japanese games maker stepped in to squash these reports, putting Wii U fans at ease.

"That's [Nikkei's report], not an official announcement. We plan to continue production through the rest of the year," Nintendo said in a statement to ITMedia. The company's response was quite vague and only confirmed that the Nintendo NX isn't going to instantly kill off the Wii U when it launches in 2016.

Given that the NX will be compatible and interact with the Wii U and existing Nintendo hardware, it makes sense that the current console would still be in production. That being said, the NX will be a "very different experience" than the WIi U. Nintendo continues to push out new Wii U games regardless of extremely underwhelming sales, but big upcoming hits like Zelda Wii U have been delayed to coincide with the NX's 2016 launch.

"As far as NX goes, I've said it's different and obviously a new experience," Nintendo's new president Tatsumi Kimishima said. "That being said, I can assure you we're not building the next version of Wii or Wii U. It's something unique and different. It's something where we have to move away from those platforms in order to make it something that will appeal to our consumer base."

Official news on the next-gen Nintendo NX has been vague, but reports say that it'll support 4K video and game at 900p 60FPS, that it'll have cartridge-based games, and we've even seen possible leaks of the bizarre buttonless touch-screen controllers.

Penso que devem continuar a produção até bem perto do lançamento da nova consola, será a decisão mais correcta.
