Opera Browsers Now Support Synchronized Bookmarks

On Tuesday, Opera Software released Opera 28 beta for the desktop and Android, as well as a new version of Opera Mini for iOS. The big deal with this release is that users can now access their bookmarks on any device on which Opera is installed. The only catch is that users will need to create or sign into an existing Opera account, which can be accessed here. "So, despite the hype about the dominance of mobile and the rapid decline of computers, we're seeing people browsing the web in remarkably similar ways across their favorite devices," read the company's blog. "That's why we're giving you a more seamless, multi-screen experience, with bookmark synchronization."
According to the blog, Opera Software performed a study and discovered that Opera users surf the same sites on all devices. Further, 40 percent of the mobile Opera users surf the Internet at least five days a week, while 45 percent of the Opera desktop crowd wander around the World Wide Web in the same timeframe. Even so, the Opera team found it important to synchronize the user's bookmarks across all devices to make browsing fast and super convenient.
"The most popular Discover categories among mobile users worldwide are News, Entertainment, Technology, Sports, Lifestyle, Science, Business, Motoring, Health and Art," the blog stated. "Think people browse different content on their computer vs handset? Think again! The top-ten list for computer users looks exactly the same, except for Sports, which moves up from 4th to 3rd position."
According to StatCounter, Opera commanded just 1.63 percent of the browser market in February 2015, keeping a slow but steady pace for the past year. The browser trails behind Apple's Safari (10.21 percent), Mozilla's Firefox (16.53 percent), Microsoft's Internet Explorer (18.91 percent) and Google's Chrome (48.71 percent). These numbers include the desktop, tablet and console browsers.
In the "mobile" market (smartphones), Opera performs slightly better, owning 8.66 percent of the market in February 2015. However, Opera has seen a decline over the past year, commanding 13.68 percent of the market in February 2014 and dipping down to 8.74 percent in October 2014. The closest competitor is the UC Browser, which currently controls 11.65 percent of the market.
Back in October 2014, Opera Software introduced visual bookmarking, providing a thumbnail of sites similar to what Google does with the Chrome browser. The company also introduced easy bookmark sharing, which provides a big red button that allows users to share an entire bookmark folder with others.

Já fazia muito tempo que não usava o Opera e por isso decidi experimentar para ver como está.
Instalei e o browser parecia bem rápido.

Opera 30 Released, Adds Easy Tabs Management, Defense Against Logjam

The official Opera blog has been updated with news that Opera 30, the latest version of the company's desktop browser, is now available to download. This version aims to make browsing and interacting with the World Wide Web much easier than before by introducing new features like sidebar extensions and a neat Tabs tool. The biggest feature making its debut in Opera 30 is the new sidebar extensions. There are already a large number of extensions that can be installed right now including TweetDeck, Classic Notes, Side Calculator and more. These are installed in the bar on the left side of the browser, appearing as shortcut icons. Once clicked, the "app" opens up within the browser window and can be resized when needed.
For example, click on the TweetDeck icon, and the app loads up on the left side of the Opera window. Because of the size of TweetDeck, which has its own sidebar, the user must enlarge the window by dragging TweetDeck's right side to the right to show at least one column. Of course, the drawback is that the main browser window grows smaller, but having TweetDeck within Opera is rather cool and is worth the space.
Don't want the sidebar to appear at all? No problem. Simply right-click on it and choose "Hide Sidebar." To get it back, type in CTRL+SHIFT+S.
In addition to the sidebar extensions, this new Opera release provides a little tool to help users manage their tabs. Sitting between the "Close" button and the "Synchronization" button on the right, this tool is in the shape of two lines and a down arrow. Click on it and users can see all their open tabs in a chronological list. When hovering over a specific tab on the list, the contents in that window appears. This should be helpful for those who typically have a lot of tabs open and want to quickly switch between them.
Another new feature introduced in Opera 30 is the trash folder in the Bookmarks section. Did you accidentally delete a bookmark? No problem, as the bookmark should be available for retrieval in this new feature. In other words, bookmarks aren't totally deleted when they're sent to the trash bin, allowing users to make sure the bookmarks aren't worth saving before they're gone for good.
Finally, the new Opera 30 will protect users against the recent logjam attack that was targeting Web browsers. According to Opera's Håvard Molland, the new browser will block browser/server exchanges using less than 1024-bit DH (Diffie Hellman), which is a technique used by the browser and the server when passing a cryptographic key back and forth. The average hacker can attack if the exchange is 512-bit DH, whereas organizations can attack with a super computer if the transaction is using 768-bit DH.
For more information about the logjam attack and how it affects the browser, Opera has the details here. The latest version of Opera for the Windows platform can be downloaded here.

Opera 35 adds tab muting, overhauls download manager

Opera 35 for desktops and laptops is out, and with it comes a couple new juicy features as well as some small but appreciable tweaks.

First, the now standard tab muting feature has been added. This is very handy for when a tab plays sounds unexpectedly, or when you want to silence a tab to listen to something else or just to have quiet. Simply click the volume icon and the sound is immediately off.

Next is the overhauled download manager. The new interface looks very slick with functionality to match. The categories menu on the left will prove very useful for when you've been downloading a lot on a given day or if you're the lazy type and don't clear your download history much or at all. Additionally, there's now a warning in place when exiting the browser while downloading something.

As for tweaks, these can be collectively found in a new section that houses options for start-up behaviour, downloads, bookmarks bar, cookies, and themes.

Download the update through Opera now, or if you've never used it before, here.

    China wants to buy Opera

    Prepared to pay $1.2 billion
A group of Chinese investors are prepared to write a cheque for $1.2 billion to buy the Opera browser.

The Norwegian company has confirmed that it has recently received an acquisition offer from Kunlun Tech and Qihoo 360, backed by Golden Brick Silk Road and Yonglian investment firms.
Kunlun Tech has come far. It used to be a gaming company and has a bulky portfolio which includes the gay dating app Grindr in January. Qihoo is an antivirus- and browser-maker.
The price is 53 or so percent higher than Opera's closing price on February 4, before rumors of a buyout started going around. Oslo's stock exchange stopped trading its shares a couple of days ago, and the company has postponed its earnings calls scheduled for Wednesday morning.
Opera is unanimously recommending shareholders to approve the takeover, according to its chief executive Lars Boilesen.
"There is strong strategic and industrial logic to the acquisition of Opera by the Consortium. We believe that the Consortium, with its breadth of expertise and strong market position in emerging markets, will be a strong owner of Opera. The Consortium's ownership will strengthen Opera's position to serve our users and partners with even greater innovation, and to accelerate our plans of expansion and growth."
Opera has been looking for a buyer since 2015. Besides its desktop browser, it's also known for its mobile browsers that compress websites and videos before delivering them, as well as its mobile advertising business.

Opera receives $1.2 billion bid from Chinese consortium

Would you think Opera is worth $1.2 billion, especially against browser giants like Google and Firefox? Well, a group of Chinese technology companies have offered Opera the huge cheque, a 53% premium over what it was trading at prior to the news.

The Norwegian-based company's board of directors very quickly unanimously recommended that its shareholders take the offer, which was a very good decision. The buyout bid comes from mobile gaming company Beijing Kunlun Tech and Qihoo 360, which TechSpot reports as China's top mobile antivirus provider. On top of that, Golden Brick Silk Road Fund Management of China which also includes Yonglian Investment, are involved.

If the deal goes through, Kunlun and Qihoo have plans to sell their products to Opera users, and push Opera's mobile advertising platform to Chinese users. Opera says that its mobile ad network has a reach over over 1 billion users, which would make sense for Chinese companies to dive onto it.

Opera 37 almost finished, comes with a few good surprises too

Opera is almost at version 37.0 and is adamant about continuing to innovate in the browser realm despite the fact that a Chinese company is on the verge of buying the parent company, Opera Software. Version 37.0 is supposed to have a few fun surprises in the final version, things that aren't mentioned in any logs whatsoever.

The focus is on fixing a tremendous amount of bugs that have been found and adding in a few much needed changes to keep it competitve, such as smooth scrolling. But there'll be more too. "Now we are preparing small surprise for you, or actually, two, if we manage to fix everything on time. You will not find it in changelog, not even in the flags," Błażej Kaźmierczak said in an official blog post.

If you'd like to participate in the beta, with it's clean interface and rather quick browsing engine, you can download it here. Just know that it's not quite production ready yet, even though it's in great shape. The interface and intuitive way in which you interact with it is a surprise given the last time I played with it nearly three year ago. They've stepped up their game quite a bit!

Opera browser gets a built-in ad blocking engine

Opera's latest development release now comes with a built-in ad blocker, though the feature is disabled by default.

Browser-maker Opera has become the first mainstream desktop software vendor to directly integrated an ad-blocking feature into its software, starting with the latest development release.

Formerly an independently-developed paid-for browser and now an implementation of the Chromium branch of WebKit available to all for free, Opera's latest development release integrated a homebrew advertisement blocking engine which the company claims has a dramatic impact on performance compared to rival browsers using plug-in ad blocking extensions. From the company's own testing, a sample page took ten seconds to load in Microsoft Edge, 7.7 seconds in Google Chrome with AdBlock Plus, 6.4 seconds in Firefox with AdBlock Plus, and just 5.3 seconds in Opera with its built-in ad blocker enabled.

'Advertising fuels the internet, allowing for many services to be free for users. But, as our new research shows, most webpages today are significantly slowed down by bloated ads and heavy tracking,' explained Krystian Kolondra, head of Opera's desktop browser project. 'We don’t accept it - we want the web to be a better place for us all, as users. Growing demand for ad-blocking tools tells us that the current approach to advertising is damaging user’s online experiences. It interrupts your web-surfing, slows down your browser, and, at Opera, we want to fix it.'

While disabled by default, the in-browser ad blocker is quickly turned on by clicking on a shield icon located in the address bar. The system also tracks various statistics including the number of adverts blocked on a given day, week, or in total, and provides a built-in benchmark for checking to see how it affects page load times.

The ad blocker is available now in the development release, and is expected to appear in the stable releases in the near future.

Opera 36 features an interface overhaul, Windows 10 love

Opera 36 is out and marks a major release for the alternative browser, bringing with it a new look and some key new features.

First up is the overhauled start page, which is now better optimized for widescreen monitors, and includes a customize button that allows you to alter themes and your news section, among other things. More will come in version 37.

There's lots of love for Windows 10 users, too: colours will change depending on your OS theme and such, touch input is supported (and accommodated with UI elements that auto adjust in size, and a fullscreen icon), and native notifications are included.

Opera, in its blog post about the new release, takes the opportunity to throw a couple jabs at Mozilla and Microsoft browsers, noting the former's lack of Windows 10 and touchscreen love and the latter's lack of extension support.

VPN grátis e de uma grande empresa?

    I don't think so..

Só se for mesmo para, por exemplo, ver vídeos de Youtube que estejam bloqueados cá
