    Fire Emblem Fates [3DS]

Fire Emblem Fates To Get Controversial Support Conversation Changed In The Western Release

In the past few months a few Nintendo published games have received some noticeable changes in their Western release, such as Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water and Xenoblade Chronicles X. While the changes weren’t anything truly major, some definitely didn’t like the company altering these games. Unfortunately it seems like Nintendo will continue doing so with some of its upcoming games, according to a report that has surfaced online a few hours ago.

According to Nintendo World Report, the Western release of Fire Emblem Fates, the new entry of the series created by Intelligent Systems launching next month , is not going to feature what has been deemed by Nintendo as a controversial support conversation.

“In the version of the game that ships in the US and Europe, there is no expression which might be considered as gay conversion or drugging that occurs between characters.”
This controversial conversation involves female character Soleil, who is attracted by women. During one of the support conversations with the male variant of the main character, the game’s protagonists spikes her drink with magic powder so that Soleil sees men as women and vice versa. This was done so that she would no longer get flustered when interacting with other women. Once the effect of the magic powder wears off, Solei founds herself attracted to the male main character, ending up proposing to him. This whole conversation is deemed controversial for a few reasons: the drink spiking could be interpreted as drugging, the whole situation as a means of gay conversion therapy. You can judge for yourself by checking out the conversation from the Japanese version.
Fire Emblem Fates launches next month in North America exclusively on Nintendo 3DS as two different versions featuring two different story paths, maps, characters and more. A third story path will be released as DLC.

Nintendo Comments On Fire Emblem Fates Changed Support Conversation

Yesterday it’s been confirmed that a controversial support conversation included in Fire Emblem Fates, the new entry of the series developed by Intelligent System launching next month in North America, is going to be changed in the Western release of the game. A few hours ago Nintendo has released another statement on the matter, also confirming that same-sex marriage will be in in the North American and European release.

In the new statement sent to Siliconera, Nintendo confirmed the change to the controversial support conversion, confirming that it has been made to make the game appropriate for the particular territory. All changes made during localization are done from this point of view.
Making changes is not unusual when we localize games, and we have indeed made changes in these games. When we localize a game we do so in order to make it appropriate for that particular territory. All our choices were made from that point of view.
As mentioned above, Nintendo has also confirmed in the statement that same-sex marriage will be included in the Western release of Fire Emblem Fates, with same-sex couples will enjoy the same stat boots as married couples of opposite genders.

In the Conquest edition a male main character created by the gamer can pair up with another male character (Niles) which ultimately leads to marriage. Similarly, in the Birthright edition, a female main character created by the gamer can pair up with and eventually marry another female character (Rhajat). Like married couples of the opposite gender, these same-sex couples enjoy the stat boosts that come with marriage, which means when they are paired up in battle they are stronger than when they are apart or paired up with another character.
In the third edition, Revelation, that will be released as DLC in the eShop on March 10, a same-sex marriage is possible regardless of the sex of your main character, as both Niles and Rhajat can be encountered in this edition.
Fire Emblem Fates will be released next month in North America exclusively on Nintendo 3DS.

Fire Emblem Fates North American Release Gets An Entire Support Conversation Cut

The Nintendo 3DS exclusive role playing game Fire Emblem Fates is finally available in North America, but both versions of the game, Conquest and Birthright, are currently under fire due to the many changes that have been made to the game during localization. We aren’t just talking about dialogue getting heavily reworked, but also features that have been changed or completely removed in the North American release. A few hours yet another huge change from the Japanese version of Fire Emblem Fates has been spotted, a change that really makes no sense at all.

A few hours ago a Fire Emblem Fates video, showcasing a support conversation between two characters, has emerged online. This conversation, however, isn’t exactly a wordy one, as the two characters don’t talk to each other. This isn’t the case in the Japanese version of the game, as the two characters actually talk about their personal histories, and how they deal with being assassins.

While two cold blooded assassins glaring at each other might make sense, this is still no reason to cut dialogue which lets players know more about the two characters, considering that character development is what support conversations are all about.

This cut, however, may be accidental. One user has reported that the following conversations happen as if the cut one hasn’t been removed at all. If this is indeed the case, it may be fixed in the future.
So i married these two, Dat S-Support Tho.Its kinda curious that the B-A-S supports continues like if original C support actually happen (in the Japanese conversation the C support is about Saizo and Beruka talking about their killcounts).Who know maybe is a glitch and would be fixed in the launch of Revelations( 10th march) or the translator team ruined it trying to make a Dank Meme
This specific support conversation isn’t the only one that has been changed for the Western release of Fire Emblem Fates. Last month, it’s been revealed that another support conversation, which has been deemed as controversial, has been completely changed in the North American release. Nintendo apparently decided to change this conversation so to “make it make it appropriate for that particular territory”
Fire Emblem Fates is now available in North America exclusively on Nintendo 3DS. The European release date has yet to be confirmed officially.
