AMD's High-End Radeon RX Graphics Card With Navi 21 GPU Rumored To Be Twice As Fast As Navi 10 - Features 505mm2 Die Size & GDDR6 Memory

The details were posted by a Chinese Forum member who lists down several key specifications of the upcoming high-end Navi GPU. We know that AMD's current Radeon RX lineup is based on the 7nm process node and is part of the first generation RDNA family. The 2nd generation RDNA family is expected to make use of the advanced 7nm+ process node which should offer leverages in the overall performance efficiency while allowing even more dense designs to be made possible.

The rumor states that AMD's high-end Navi GPU, which is being referred to as the Navi 21 GPU, has been taped out. The chip has a die size of 505mm2 which is twice as big as Navi 10 which has a die size of 251mm2. This is even bigger than AMD's Vega 20 GPU which had a die size of 331mm2, so it could mean that we are looking at a powerhouse of a chip which should definitely be faster than anything AMD has released yet. The AMD Vega 20 GPU featured 13.2 Billion transistors so the Navi 21 GPU could exceed 15-16 Billion transistors which would make the chip far denser than anything else on the market.

In terms of performance, the Navi 21 GPU is said to be at least twice as fast as the Navi 10 GPU. The Radeon RX 5700 XT is the best case for the Navi 10 GPU and it comes close to the GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER, so the Navi 21 GPU could exceed the RTX 2080 SUPER's performance and even end up coming close to the RTX 2080 Ti. This might explain why we were hearing rumors of NVIDIA's RTX 2080 Ti SUPER in the works.

With that said, the clock speeds have not been stated yet which would play a bigger role in determining the final performance of the card. Also, it should be said that a GPU of this size would consume a lot of power and a TDP around 275-300W is a given since the Navi 10 GPU has a TDP of 225W.

It is also stated that given the huge die size of the GPU itself, the card would end up not using HBM memory but would rather rely on GDDR6 memory. This would mean that we are likely to get a 384 or 512-bit memory interface which should either give us 12 GB or 16 GB memory. AMD could go one step ahead and offer 24 or even 32 GB of GDDR6 products since this would end up being their flagship 2020 graphics product. Some of the features to expect from 2nd Generation rDNA Navi GPUs would be:

    Optimized 7nm+ process node
    Enthusiast-grade desktop graphics card options
    Hardware-Level Ray Tracing Support
A mix of GDDR6 and HBM2 graphics cards
More power-efficient than First-Gen Navi GPUs

Nothing else is stated, but from the looks of it, this could be a very powerful graphics card, marking AMD's proper return in the enthusiast high-end desktop GPU space. We also know for a fact that AMD is planning to introduce hardware-accelerated ray tracing as a primary featured of their next-generation RDNA powered GPUs. With that said, the information is based on a rumor so treat it with a grain of salt, but if it is true, then we might get to hear at least some form of confirmation from AMD at CES 2020 aside from the expected Radeon RX 5600 XT announcement.

    Boas!

Hi, I'm the developer of the benchmark (OpenVR Benchmark), and since I was already asked on the OpenVR Benchmark Discord to comment on the AMD benchmark result everyone seems to be talking about, I guess I will also comment here to let people know what I think.
To be clear, I do not have access to any more information than you, I also just see the result in the leaderboard, beating all the 2080 Ti.
The CPU does seem to be a Ryzen 7 4800H and people generally seem to agree about that. Regarding the GPU, it is definitely some kind of unreleased high end GPU, as being 17% above the best performing 2080 Ti is quite a big step. It hasn't really been mentioned here, but that best performing 2080 Ti in the leaderboard is already a really good performing 2080 Ti. As usual, there's many GPUs that perform somewhere in the middle, with few being faster and few being slower. The majority of 2080 Ti actually perform more around ~80 fps in this benchmark, so the unnamed GPU we talk about here is around 29% faster than a regular 2080 Ti, while being 17% faster than the highest overclocked 2080 Ti.
I guess it might be just about possible to get a "30% higher than 2080 Ti" result by having a 2080 Ti with a world-record liquid nitrogen OC, but I think most likely people using engineering sample CPUs, especially a Ryzen 7 4800H, are not running liquid nitrogen OCs.
So this benchmark result is very likely done with some unannounced GPU. And since I would consider it very unlikely that someone has access to both an AMD engineering sample CPU and an unannounced Nvidia GPU, and is allowed to use both in the same system, I think it is most likely that this is an unannounced AMD GPU. So I do agree with most people here that this most likely seems to be a new AMD GPU that is quite a bit faster than a 2080 Ti, but I also think to not be disappointed if it ends up being something different, no one should feel 100% certain about this.

RX 5950 XT, RX 5950, and RX 5800 XT: New AMD Radeon SKUs Reach Regulators

Confirmation of four new Radeon RX 5000-series SKUs came to light as AIB partner AFOX pushed them to regulators at the Eurasian Economic Commission. EEC filings have been a reliable early-sign of upcoming PC hardware. All thee new SKUs are positioned above the Radeon RX 5700 XT launched last year. These include the Radeon RX 5800 XT, the RX 5900 XT, the RX 5950, and the RX 5950 XT. Going by AMD's convention of two SKUs per resolution serving up to differentiated experiences, the RX 5800 XT could be a step up from the RX 5700 XT in offering 1440p high frame-rate AAA performance. This could possibly put it in direct competition with the GeForce RTX 2070 Super. AMD took a similar 2-pronged approach to 1080p, with the RX 5500 XT serving up 1080p at up to 60 fps, while the RX 5600 XT topping it up with a 40-50 percent performance uplift.

The Radeon RX 5950-series is completely new. This could very well be a new large "Navi" silicon, since dual-GPU is dead. Just as AMD carved out the RX 5700 XT, the RX 5700, and the RX 5600 XT, it could carve out the three new SKUs from this silicon. AMD CEO Dr Lisa Su already confirmed that her company is working to upscale the RX 5000-series "Navi" family. The RX 5900-series could be competition for the likes of the RTX 2080 or even RTX 2080 Super. The RX 5950-series could target premium 4K gaming (RTX 2080 Ti). It remains to be seen if the three new SKUs are based on the existing RDNA architecture or the new RDNA2 architecture designed for 7 nm EUV, featuring variable-rate shading.
Elas já estão quase a chegar....

AMD Radeon 5800 XT (big NAVI) to get 80 Compute units?

The rumor mill on graphics cards news stops, today big NAVI is rumored to get 80 CS, that's double the 5700 XT. This would make the chip twice the size of the Radeon RX 5700 XT. Albeit AMD already confirmed the chip to be released this year, specs have never been mentioned.
Of course, specifications are derived from the rumor mill and should to be treated with caution. The new comes from Chiphell forum. That's 80 compute units with RDNA2 architecture and native ray tracing support, the chip: Navi 21.

The only question that arises, is whether this is realistic as doubling up CU count doubles up the die size, on the same 7nm fabrication node. AMD is keen to become a big player again in the enthusiast segment. To tackle a 2080 Ti they need something powerful, and Ampere/Hopper is lurking around the corner as well.
Como de costume com estes leaks, deitem muito sal...
