NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 AotS Benchmarks Surface—Trades Blows with RTX 2080 Ti
Ashes of the Singularity (AotS) Benchmark numbers for the upcoming GeForce RTX 3070 graphics card surfaced, strengthening NVIDIA's performance claims for the card being "faster" than the previous generation flagship, the RTX 2080 Ti. According to the benchmark numbers dug out by _rogame and compiled by VideoCardz, the RTX 3070 ends up being 1% faster than the RTX 2080 Ti at 1080p with the "Crazy" preset. This lead extends to 2.3% at 1440p, albeit with a custom preset of which details aren't known.

At 4K UHD with the "Crazy" preset, however, the RTX 3070 ends up about 2.4% slower than the RTX 2080 Ti. These numbers suggest that the RTX 3070 should still be a formidable 4K UHD gaming option, with moderate RTX effects. It should allow you to game at 1440p with RTX maxed out; and should enable 1080p high refresh-rate AAA gaming; but for those seeking 4K UHD with RTX maxed out, the RTX 3080 should be the one to buy. Then again, AMD's Radeon RX 6000 series is just around the corner, and could take a swing at this segment, with a full DirectX 12 Ultimate feature-set, and plenty of muscle.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 3DMark performance
The 8nm Ampere GA104-based NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 graphics card will be a close match to GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, the last-gen, Turing-based flagship. We have been in contact with many reviewers and it seems that the newer model is just slightly faster than 2080 Ti in gaming, while offering similar performance in synthetic benchmarks.

Many GPU enthusiasts do not like 3DMark, but this tool is the simplest and fastest way to compare performance between the cards. The 3DMark team has been adding more and more feature tests that could probably paint a bigger picture. In this article, however, we will be sharing the results from the most popular ones.

The margin of error is too small to make any direct comparisons, hence we chose not to make any charts based on this data. Feel free however to use this data to compare the RTX 3070 graphics card to your Turing and Pascal-based models.

The RTX 3070 scores 8,749 points in Fire Strike Ultra (Graphics) test with 17,115 points in Fire Strike Extreme. In Time Spy Extreme the card scores 6,907 points and 13,945 in the ‘performance’ preset. In ray tracing DX12 benchmark called Port Royal, the RTX 3070 scores 8324 points.

All tests were performed on an AIB card with NVIDIA reference clocks and default TDP (220W).

    Boas!
Realmente parece-me pouco...

Assim parece-me pouco...

    https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comm...d_we_answered/

One of the key design goals for the Ampere 30-series SM was to achieve twice the throughput for FP32 operations compared to the Turing SM. To accomplish this goal, the Ampere SM includes new datapath designs for FP32 and INT32 operations. One datapath in each partition consists of 16 FP32 CUDA Cores capable of executing 16 FP32 operations per clock. Another datapath consists of both 16 FP32 CUDA Cores and 16 INT32 Cores. As a result of this new design, each Ampere SM partition is capable of executing either 32 FP32 operations per clock, or 16 FP32 and 16 INT32 operations per clock. All four SM partitions combined can execute 128 FP32 operations per clock, which is double the FP32 rate of the Turing SM, or 64 FP32 and 64 INT32 operations per clock.
    Aqui fica a teoria:

So, Turing GPU can execute 64INT32 + 64FP32 ops per clock per SM.
Ampere GPU can either execute 64INT32 + 64FP32 or 128FP32 ops per clock per SM.

Which means if a game executes 0 (zero) INT32 instructions then Ampere = 2xTuring
And if game executes 50/50 INT32 and FP32 then Ampere = Turing exactly.

    Some math: 36 / (100+36) = 26%, i.e. in an average game instruction stream 26% are INT32

So we can now calculate what will happen to both Ampere and Turing when 26% INT32 + 74% FP32 instruction streams are used.
I have written a simple software to do that. But you can calculate an analytical upper bound easily: 74%/50% = 1.48 or +48%
My software shows a slightly smaller number +44% (and that's because of the edge cases where you cannot distribute the last INT32 ops in a batch equally, as only one pipeline can issue INT32 per each block of 16 cores)
So the theoretical absolute max is +48%, in practice the absolute achievable max is +44%

Thus each 2TF of Ampere have only 1.44TF of Turing performance.

Let's check the actual data Nvidia gave us:
    3080 = 30TF (ampere) = 21.6TF (turing) = 2.14x 2080 (10.07TF turing)
Nvidia is even more conservative than that and gives us: 3080 = 2x2080
    3070
    = 20.4TF (ampere) = 14.7TF (turing) = 1.86x 2070 (7.88TF turing)
Nvidia is massively more conservative here giving us: 3070 = 1.6x2070
Actually if we average the two max numbers that Nvidia gives us (they explicitly say "up to") we get to even lower theoretical max of 1 Ampere TF = 0.65 Turing TF
Which suggests that maybe these new FP32/INT32 mixed pipelines cannot execute FP32 at full speed (or cannot execute all the instructions).
We do know that Turing had reduced register file access in INT32 (64 vs 256 for FP32) if it's the same (and everything suggests that Ampere is just a Turing facelift) then obviously not all FP32 instruction sequences can run on these pipelines.
    Ryzen R5 3700X / Noctua NH-D15 / B550 AORUS ELITE V2 / Cooler Master H500 Mesh / 16Gb DDR4 @ 3800mhz CL16 / Gigabyte RTX 2070 Super / Seasonic Focus GX 750W / Sabrent Q Rocket 2 TB / Crucial MX300 500Gb + Samsung 250Evo 500Gb / Edifier R1700BT

NVIDIA Readies New GeForce RTX 30-series SKU Positioned Between RTX 3070 and RTX 3080

Possibly unsure of the GeForce RTX 3070 tackling AMD's Radeon RX 6000 series parts, NVIDIA is designing a new RTX 30-series SKU positioned between the RTX 3070 and RTX 3080. This is not a 16 GB variant of the RTX 3070, but rather a new SKU based on the 8 nm "GA102" silicon, according to a reliable source with NVIDIA leaks, kopite7kimi. The SKU is based on the GA102 with the ASIC code "GA102-150-KD-A1." The silicon is configured with 7,424 CUDA cores across 58 streaming multiprocessors (29 TPCs), 232 tensor cores, 232 TMUs, 58 RT cores, and an unknown number of ROPs. According to kopite7kimi, the card is configured with a 320-bit wide memory interface, although it's not known if this is conventional GDDR6, like the RTX 3070 has, or faster GDDR6X, like that on the RTX 3080.

NVIDIA recently "cancelled" a future 16 GB variant of the RTX 3070, and 20 GB variant of the RTX 3080, which is possibly the company calibrating its response to the Radeon RX 6000 series. We theorize that doubling in memory amounts may not have hit the desired cost-performance targets; and the company probably believes the competitive outlook of the RTX 3080 10 GB is secure. This explains the need for a SKU with performance halfway between that of the RTX 3070 and RTX 3080. As for pricing, with the RTX 3070 positioned at $500 and the RTX 3080 at $700, the new SKU could be priced somewhere in between. AMD's RDNA2-based Radeon RX 6000 series GPUs are expected to feature DirectX 12 Ultimate logo compliance, meaning that there is a level playing ground between AMD and NVIDIA in the performance segment.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Reviewer’s Guide leaked

    • Programmable Shader: Increased to 2 shader calculations per clock versus 1 on Turing—20.3 Shader-TFLOPS compared to 7.9 TFLOPS.
    • 2nd Generation RT Core: Ray-triangle intersection throughput is now doubled so that the RT Core delivers 39.7 RT-TFLOPs, compared to Turing’s 23.8.
    • 3rd Generation Tensor Core: New Tensor Core automatically identifies and removes less important DNN weights and the new hardware processes the sparse network at twice the rate of Turing—162.6 Tensor-TFLOPS with sparsity compared to Turing’s 63 TFLOPS.

    Cumprimentos,
