    Analise do TechSpot

Dying Light takes place in an expansive urban environment where players navigate using free running 'parkour' mechanics while scavenge for supplies to craft weapons and defend against the city's growing infected population. It's the first game built with the Chrome Engine 6, which is a proprietary 3D game engine developed by Techland that was first used over 10 years ago in Speedway Grand Prix and sci-fi shooter Chrome.

Techland now hates modders and will abuse the DMCA to stop them

In the v1.2.1 patch, Techland severely hindered our ability to create mods for Dying Light. The patch notes state that they:That's an awfully rosy way of looking at things (i.e., spin.) Among other things, we can no longer create or edit items for the single-player campaign.
If that wasn't bad enough, Techland, via their publisher Warner Bros (an ESA member), is using the ESA's partnership with MarkMonitor to file DMCA claims against mods. Yes, they're abusing the DMCA to fight modders. They're not fighting software piracy; they're fighting customers, enthusiasts, fans.
One example: two Redditors (/u/drogean2 and /u/Descatusat) uploaded mods that disable the film grain effect to MediaFire and TinyUpload. These 523-byte mods were promptly taken down for terms of service violations. If disabling the film grain effect warrants a DMCA claim, what would something more involved merit?
Remember when Dead Island mods were featured on PC Gamer and other major websites?
Remember when the Dead Island modding thread was stickied in the Steam forum?
Remember when Hellraid was just a weapon mod for Dead Island made by one of Techland's own developers?
Techland's approach to Dying Light mods radically departs from how they handled, and even supported, Dead Island mods.
If this is an issue you care about, don't be a zombie; voice your displeasure! Maybe someone will hear you.
Dying Light is filing DMCA claims on mods; and adding more DRM to block these mods in an upcoming patch.

In an upcoming patch (v.1.2.1), Techland is initiating DRM that will be strangling the modding community from making any changes to their game in an attempt to prohibit mods becoming hacks. Although This will affect singleplayer; and multiplayer gaming, not just the latter.Techland also began using MarkMonitor to file DMCA's against mods such as removing the always active film-grain. made by two redditors who uploaded those tweaks to MediaFire and TinyUpload. Both 523-byte mods soon had claims filed against them, and were removed. If disabling the film grain effect warrants a DMCA claim, what would something more involved merit?
If this an issue you care about, please talk about it! Maybe someone over there will hear you from this corner of the web.

    Dying Light update kills mods

In a move that should be a surprise to no one at this point, the first few days after Dying Light’s launch have seen an update released to fix performance and compatibility issues. What is a little more surprising however, is the fact that the patch also blocks “cheating by changing the game’s files,” which makes it harder to mod the game. Also bizarre is the fact that either the developer or publisher has issued a DMCA takedown request for a particular mod file that removes the game’s film grain effect.
Considering a few people have had frame rate issues with the game, one quick method of improving their lot, as well as the overall visual clarity of the game, was to remove its baked in film-grain effect. This required just the modification of a single file, but for some unknown reason, the latest patch for Dying Light has sealed off that method of removing it. The wording of the patch notes suggests that modding the game at all is now frowned upon by the developers.

As Eurogamer reports though, the DMCA takedown request is the strangest, as there’s nothing illegal or copyright infringing about a modification. Still, the original mod is no longer available and even if it were, applying it wouldn’t work if you’ve already patched the game to its latest 1.2.1 version.
It’s a bit like calling the undead kettle black though, as upcoming slasher Hellraid, from the same developer, was based on a Dead Island weapon mod.
For anyone that owns Dying Light and still wants to remove the film grain, you can do so with this mod that’s still up and purportedly still works. Get it now, while you can.

Dying Light PC Mod blocking Patch was a mix-up.

Last weeks patch, version 1.2.1, was released for Dying Light which among other things restricted the ability for players to mod the game, this has been confirmed to be a "mix-up" by Techland. The patch was intended to stop cheating in the games multiplayer mode, which unfortunately prevented the use of game mods and tweaking of some of the game files. The polish developer now plans to quickly make up a patch that will allow users to make edits or tweaks while also preventing cheating in the games multiplayer mode. In other words re-enable modding.

"With the recent patch (1.2.1) on Steam we blocked cheating to make sure the game's PvP system (Be The Zombie) would not be abused. This, however, had the side-effect of hindering mod-makers from making changes to the game."
"Creating obstacles for modders has never been our intention. We are now working on a quick patch that will re-enable common tweaks while stopping cheating in the game’s multiplayer mode."
"At Techland, we have always supported the mod community, and loved seeing how our own game can be changed by the players. A big part of the original Dead Island's success was the passion and creativity of mod-makers from our community. We want the same for Dying Light."

We all know that mods can be a very important part of a games longevity, just ask the many thousands of people who still play Skyrim. Hopefully Techland will continue to embrace modding like they have in their previous games like Dead Island.
Being a single player game, it is hopeful that Techland will allow further modding of Dying light in the future, perhaps by disabling the games online features while playing a modded version of the game.

Dying Light racks up more than 1.2 million gamers in one week

Since being released last week, more than 1.2 million gamers have tried out Dying Light, according to the game's official Twitter feed.

The game was released on January 27 and tallied gamers until February 2.

The gaming total includes PC, Microsoft Xbox One and Sony PlayStation 4 gamers - though physical copies of the game have been delayed, and should boost sales figures in Europe, Asia, Australia and the Middle East by the end of February.

Techland Will Release Official Modding Tools For Dying Light

“Modders were a massive part of our gaming community since Call of Juarez 2 and Dead Island – and we wish to continue that with Dying Light. This invitation is only the first stage of our cooperation with the gaming community. After the modding tools are released, we plan to actively support the coolest mods created by players.”

“We want to give creative freedom to the players to help keep Dying Light fresh and interesting even many years after their release. We want to thank players for the support they have shown us and are looking forward to their ideas where Dying Light can go from here.”
