Eu quero ver um frente a frente entre FreeSyn e G-Sync, por isso é bom que tudo chegue na data que o Richard Huddy aponta.

AMD’s Richard Huddy provides FreeSync update

In late September we heard the exciting news that monitors equipping AMD’s FreeSync technology would start shipping from quarter one of 2015. However, information provided by AMD Gaming Scientist Richard Huddy, in a presentation at PDXLAN , suggests FreeSync monitors could arrive slightly earlier than scheduled.
Huddy claims that FreeSync monitors will start shipping from December and will be around $100 less expensive than equivalent G-Sync models. The lower cost comes from AMD’s decision to make FreeSync, like its name would suggest, license-free. Nvidia’s alternative, G-Sync, requires hardware vendors to license the technology, adding additional cost to a monitor’s retail price.
AMD’s Gaming Scientist also went on to elaborate that AMD will add driver support in December to fully support FreeSync monitors with compatible AMD graphics cards. Curiously, he also spoke of an unnamed display vendor that is shipping FreeSync -compatible monitors right now, although a firmware update is required to enable that compatibility when it is made publicly available.

Samsung to release first displays with AMD FreeSync technology next March

Samsung Electronics and Advanced Micro Devices on Thursday revealed that the former will release five displays featuring AMD’s FreeSync technology in March, 2015. Initially there will be five monitors from Samsung that will take advantage of AMD’s screen synching technology, but eventually a lot of Samsung’s displays will support AMD’s FreeSync.
In March, 2015, Samsung Electronics plans to launch the Samsung UD590 (23.6” and 28” models) and the UE850 (23.6”, 27” and 31.5”models) monitors with AMD’s FreeSync technology that dynamically synchronizes refresh rates of displays to the frame rate of AMD Radeon graphics adapters to reduce input latency and reduce or fully eliminate visual defects during gaming or video playback. Samsung did not reveal specifications of the monitors, but expect higher-end UD590 and UE850 models to support 4K UHD (3840*2160) resolution, whereas less advanced flavours to feature 1920*1080 or 2560*1440 resolutions.
Eventually AMD’s FreeSync (and, possibly, VESA’s Adaptive Sync) technology will be supported by all ultra-high-definition (UHD) displays from Samsung Electronics.

In a bid to support AMD’s FreeSync and VESA’s Adaptive Sync, monitors need to feature DisplayPort 1.2a input as well as a special scaler chip that supports appropriate technologies. Since three major makers of display scalers – Mstar, Novatek and Realtek – plan to release new chips that support AMD’s screen synching technology, it should not be a problem to build FreeSync-enabled displays in 2015.
“We are very pleased to adopt AMD FreeSync technology to our 2015 Samsung Electronics Visual Display division’s UHD monitor roadmap, which fully supports open standards,” said Joe Chan, vice president of Samsung Electronics. “With this technology, we believe users including gamers will be able to enjoy their videos and games to be played with smoother frame display without stuttering or tearing on their monitors.”

AMD Announces Major Technology Partnerships at Future of Compute Event

AMD today at its Future of Compute event announced the introduction of the consumer electronic industry’s first-ever ultra high-definition (UHD) monitors to feature its innovative, open-standards based FreeSync technology. Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., plans to launch the screen synching technology around the world in March 2015, starting with the Samsung UD590 (23.6-inch and 28-inch models) and UE850 (23.6-inch, 27-inch and 31.5-inch models), and eventually across all of Samsung’s UHD lineups. FreeSync will enable dynamic refresh rates synchronized to the frame rate of AMD Radeon™ graphics cards and APUs to maximally reduce input latency and reduce or fully eliminate visual defects during gaming and video playback.

Go Samsung!

AMD FreeSync Capable Monitors Revealed at ‘Future of Compute’ Event

As I am pretty sure you have heard by now, AMD recently held a ‘Future of Compute’ event in Singapore in collaboration with some major companies including Samsung and HP. The topic in focus for this particular post is their revelation of concrete information on FreeSync including upcoming models from Samsung. Availability of said SKUs will be around March 2015.
AMD FreeSync Demoed at ‘Future of Compute’ Event – Supported Samsung 4K UHD Models Revealed

Samsung has publicly expressed its intension to support FreeSync (Good luck to Nvidia trying to get G-Sync into Samsung monitors; now that they have started legal proceedings against the latter). The displays in question are the Samsung UD590 and UE850, and will come in variants of 23.6”, 28” and 31.5”. All are UHD (4K) displays so these will truly be beautiful to look at, even up close. AMD made sure to drive home the point that FreeSync is a completely free standard with no licensing fees and no closed source proprietary hardware. The monitors will support DisplayPort 1.2a. Our regular readers would realize why this particular property was a given anyways (DP 1.2a enables Adaptive-Sync which is a necessary requirement for FreeSync to function).

FreeSync monitors hit mass production, coming in Jan-Feb

Among other things, AMD's Catalyst Omega driver announcement has given us an update of sorts on the status of FreeSync. AMD told us in August that the first FreeSync panels would be out in early 2015, and the company looks set to keep that schedule.FreeSync displays have entered the mass production and validation stage, AMD tells us. The first commercial offerings are now scheduled for a launch in the January-February time frame. We'll still have to wait until March for Samsung's FreeSync-enabled UHD monitors, though.

AMD says that, from the point of view of display makers, there's "not much you need to do" to support FreeSync other than comply with the DisplayPort 1.2a standard's
Adaptive-Sync specification. Nonetheless, the chipmaker mentioned some "secret sauce" that we'll learn more about in January or February. Hmm.

First AMD FreeSync Capable Monitor Arrives – $170 Cheaper Than Nvidia G-Sync Equivalent

The first ever FreeSync capable monitor has arrived in UK stores. It’s a 4K model and is a whopping $170 cheaper than the G-Sync equivalent. This coincides perfectly with our exclusive report a month ago when we told you that FreeSync capable monitors will begin shipping this month and will be significantly less expensive than their Nvidia G-Sync counterparts.
The Monitor in question is iiyama’s 28″ ProLite B2888UHSU-B1 4K monitor and it’s already available for purchase on Overclockers.co.uk.
First AMD FreeSync Capable Monitor Arrives – Features 4K Resolution And Saves You $170 Over The G-Sync Equivalent

The FreeSync 4K monitor costs 390 British Pounds, which is equivalent to about $600 USD. It uses an identical panel to Acer’s 4K G-Sync monitor the Predator 4k2k XB280HK. Which costs 500 British pounds at the same e-tailer, roughly $770 USD. Both monitors also share functionally identical stands. As far as we can tell the only difference in functionality between both monitors is that one supports G-Sync while the other supports FreeSync. Even though the FreeSync monitor from iiyama actually ends up with a longer warranty of 3 years vs the 2 year warranty from Acer.

AMD had originally estimated that FreeSync monitors would cost $100 less than identical G-Sync enabled ones. As it turns out this estimation was actually fairly conservative as the difference at least on these two particular aforementioned models amounts to roughly $170. In fact from what we can tell the FreeSync enabled monitor from iiyama actually costs exactly the same as other 4K monitors of the same sort of spec that don’t support variable refresh rate.
There’s a small caveat however for this particular model. Iiyama claims that while the monitor is compatible with the FreeSync / Adaptive-Sync VESA standard it will require an update to enable this functionality. The company is currently offering a free of charge service to do this upgrade for you. However we suspect that the update merely requires a Firmware/BIOS update as AMD’s Gaming Scientist Richard Huddy has indicated before. So you may be able to update it yourself without taking/shipping it to the company.
In any case this is the first FreeSync capable monitor to arrive in the market, with many models shipping this month and arriving the next. The number of FreeSync compatible monitors will be quite large. So potential buyers will have a good variety to choose from. We’ll make sure to keep you updated as more models are released. We’re certainly hoping that the upcoming ones from Samsung, Acer, Asus, Dell and the rest will be just as good of a deal as the one we saw today.

LG Preparing Ultra Wide AMD FreeSync IPS Monitors For Early 2015

LG is working on two new ultra wide 21:9 flat IPS panels with full out-of-the box AMD FreeSync capability for introduction early next year.
Two days ago we reported on the first FreeSync capable monitor to arrive to market. Today we bring you exciting news of what LG is bringing to the market in the next couple of months.
LG Preparing Ultra Wide AMD FreeSync IPS Panels For Early 2015

The monitors in question will be 29″ and 34″ models and they will feature the best in class LG IPS display panels. The smaller 29″ monitor will feature a resolution of 2560×1080 while the 34″ model will feature a more visually satisfying 3440×1440 resolution.
Both models feature 10bit per channel color, which AMD’s Radeon lineup supports. In addition to an impressively low latency figure for IPS which comes at or slightly under 5ms.

As far as pricing goes, the numbers aren’t set in stone yet. However we’d be very surprised to see the new monitors carry any notable premium over their non FreeSync counterparts. If iiyama’s FreeSync monitor is any indication, adding FreeSync support to any monitor will prove to be very cost efficient.
AMD had already told us that adding FreeSync / Adaptive-Sync capability to a monitor would prove to be quite easy technically and financially. In fact the company stated numerous times that FreeSync monitors would end up considerably cheaper than their Nvidia G-Sync counterparts.
The company’s Chief Gaming Scientist, Richard Huddy, stated in November that he estimates the cost differential between two identical FreeSync and G-Sync monitors to amount to $100 less in favor of the FreeSync solution. This estimate has already been validated and was shown to be even quite conservative with iiyama’s FreeSync capable monitor that we talked about two days ago.
In relation to the new monitors from LG, these will only represent a couple of many FreeSync compatible monitors. So if you don’t particularly enjoy using ultra wide displays do not worry. We’re fairly certain that LG themselves will also introduce 16:9 monitors in addition to the ones we talked about today. As always stay tuned so we can keep you updated as we hear more news about upcoming FreeSync capable monitors.

Report: iiyama To Offer Free FreeSync Upgrade For 28" 4K Monitor

If you've been waiting to buy a FreeSync-enabled monitor, you may not need to wait anymore. Iiyama may enable it on an existing monitor with a free firmware upgrade.

Iiyama's B2888UHSU-B1 has already been on the European market for a while now, and it's gotten some good feedback, but a post on Overlockers UK makes it seem like an even better buy. From the looks of it, a free firmware upgrade to enable FreeSync on it may be coming in the future.

Bom sinal que até alguns modelos menos mainstream tenham suporte Freesync, quer dizer que vai haver muito por onde escolher. Esperemos é que a performance seja porreira VS G-sync.
