    http://www.tweaktown.com/news/40523/...rld/index.html

Apple is No. 1 and Google No. 2 on the most valuable brands list, both above $100 billion (NASDAQ:AAPL, NASDAQ:GOOG)

Apple has been awarded the most valuable brand in the world for a second consecutive year, worth an estimated $119 billion, according to the Interbrands 2014 Best Global Brands list. There are four technology companies in the top 10 this year, though tech remains extremely fickle, forcing companies to try to adapt to changing customer demands.

"A lot of our thinking about this year's report is really around the 'Age of You,'" said Alfred DuPuy, Interbrand Executive Director.

Trailing behind Apple is Google ($107.4 billion), a 15 percent increase year-over-year, and Coca-Cola round out the top three - with IBM, Microsoft, General Electric, Samsung, Toyota, McDonald's, and Mercedes-Benz round out the top 10 overall most valued brands in the world. As an honorable mention, Facebook's value increased 86 percent, and the company jumped up to No. 29 on the list - and will likely continue to rise.

Google could beat Apple to be the world's first $1 trillion company

By: Anthony Garreffa | More News: Business, Financial & Legal | Posted: 6 hours, 47 mins ago
It was only April of 2014 where most, ourselves included, thought Apple were well on its way to be valued at over $1 trillion. But, it looks like Google will beat Apple to this milestone, but it would have to more than double Apple's stock performance before 2020.

While Apple makes consumer electronics and online services, like the iPhone, iTunes, and more, Google steps right out of those boundaries. It has a massively used search engine, mobile OS and hardware, partnerships with virtually every player in the technology and manufacturing industry, artificial intelligence, robotics, health technology, the list truly goes on.

Colin Gillis, an analyst with BGC Capital, wrote in a research note to clients on Friday: "If you look at the range of [projects] Google is attacking, it represents opportunities on a much more massive scale than Apple is addressing". He added: "What are we going to get from Apple - a thinner iPad?". Right now, Apple is the most valuable US company, with a market capitalization of $599 billion, compared to Google's $372 billion.

A Microsoft paga obviamente...

Enfim, eu fico parvo.

Finnish Prime Minister claims Apple ruined its two key exports

There’s no shortage of explanations as to the cause of the recent global recession as many economies have struggled in recent years. Finnish Prime Minister Alexander Stubb has taken a different approach, however, as he has accused Apple of single-handedly ruining two of the country’s largest exports.During a recent interview with CNBC, Stubb blamed the iPhone for killing Nokia and the iPad for the decline of the Finnish paper industry. It’s not the first time that Stubb has called out Apple for eliminating jobs in his country and depending on your view, his comments aren’t entirely off-base.

Nokia was a household name in the late ‘90s and early 2000s as it was responsible for about a third of all mobile phones at one point. Seemingly content to rest on their laurels, the Finnish handset maker failed to keep pace with the rapidly-advancing wireless industry and ultimately ceded virtually their entire market share to Apple and Samsung.
While smartphones were responsible for adding more functionality on top of an already existing cell phone market, Apple’s iPad created an entirely new industry at the expense of established markets and largely shifted reading to tablets. As the LA Times points out, Finland’s production of paper for printing and writing has been on the decline since the arrival of Apple’s slate.

Stubb wasn’t all doom and gloom, however, as he promised his country would make a comeback as dire times lead to innovation.

Apple on Tuesday revealed that sales of its Mac personal computers set all time record in the fiscal 2014 fourth quarter ended September 27, 2014. The company noted that the most popular Macintosh personal computers were the MacBook Air and the MacBook Pro laptops.
“We established an all-time quarterly record for Mac sales with revenue growing 18% year-over-year, thanks in particular to the very strong performance of our portables,” said Tim Cook, chief executive officer of Apple. “We are especially proud of our Mac results considering the overall contraction of the global PC market this year and we achieved our highest quarterly market share since 1995.”
For the second time in the history of Apple, sales of Macs exceeded five million units per quarter and totaled 5.52 million units. It is especially remarkable that Apple has not released any all-new Macintosh computers during the quarter. Still, this year it made the entry-level MacBook Air, MacBook Pro (with retina screen) and iMac 21.5″ models more affordable, added muscle to its MacBook Pro and MacBook Air laptops and introduced its all-new Mac OS X “Yosemite” operating system.

“We saw great demand in the back-to-school season for both desktops and portables with especially strong growth for MacBook Pro and MacBook Air,” said Luca Maestri, chief financial officer of Apple. “We achieved double-digit Mac growth across most markets around the world, with particularly impressive performance in emerging markets where Mac sales were up 46%.”

Based on Apple’s revenue report, average selling price (ASP) of a Mac PC during the quarter was $1200, which is generally in line with the ASP of $1255 in the previous quarter and $1229 during the same quarter a year ago. The release of the iMac 27” with 5K retina-class screen will help Apple to drive its ASPs up in the coming quarters.
