Indiegogo Campaign For An Apple Watch Protective Case

As dumb as a "protective case" for any watch sounds, I bet this thing is funded in no time. Kinda makes the watch look a little manlier though.

Swatch Co-Inventor Predicts Apple Watch Will Bring ‘Ice Age’ To Swiss Watch Industry

It seems that these days everything Apple touches turns to gold, hence why the company was able to post an $18 billion profit for its fiscal first quarter of 2015. Be that as it may, can Apple popularize the smartwatch market as others have been unable to do so far? Not only is that the expectation, but according to Swatch watch co-inventor Elmar Mock, Apple is going to bring about an "Ice Age" to the Swiss watch market.

Elmar told Bloomberg that he expects the Apple Watch to quickly reach sales of 20 million to 30 million units per year. For the sake of comparison, Switzerland exported 28.6 million watches in 2014, none of them with smart capabilities.

"Apple will succeed quickly. It will put a lot of pressure on the traditional watch industry and jobs in Switzerland...I do expect an Ice Age coming toward us," Elmar said.

He doesn't seem concerned with Apple's pricing, which has raised some eyebrows in the media. The least expensive models -- Apple Watch Sport -- will start at $349. If you want a stainless steel model, you'll have to shell out at between $549 and $1,049 for the 38mm version and $599 to $1,099 for the 42mm version. And if you have money to burn, the Apple Watch Edition will set you back $10,000.

Neither are analysts for Barclays. They wrote in a note to investors that the Apple Watch launch could result in a 6 percent annual decline in Swatch Group AG's revenue.

To keep up with the times (and help fend off competition from Apple), there are at least three Swiss watch companies planning to make smartwatches, including Swatch Group, which will unveil a smart model sometime this year.

Limited Space Usable on Apple Watch despite 8GB Capacity

On the heels of Apple’s big event the other day, they have told 9to5Mac that only limited amounts of the Apple Watch’s 8GB will be usable, for now. When it comes to music, Apple has allocated 2GB of space, which roughly translates to about 200 to 250 songs at 256Kbps quality from the iTunes store. By comparison for photos you only get 75MB, but that isn’t as negative a point with the Watch limiting users to favorite photos and re-sizes them to match the display, although personally I wouldn’t be showing off photos on a screen that size.
This begs the question, if the phone comes with 8GB, which is more than most Android Wear devices to boot, how is the other 6GB allocated? Like any mobile devices, a portion is used for the operating system and app caches, the rest is yet to be determined. Since the device is so new, and apps currently act more as an extension of an iPhone that an independent device, storage isn’t too big an issue. As we see more native apps developed, the storage design will most likely see changes.

Rent an Apple Watch For $45 a Day

If your rent is too darn high, you're unlikely to be shelling out $350 for the Apple Watch before you get a chance to test it out. But if you're on the fence, a new service is letting you rent the Sport version of the wearable for $45 a day to help you decide. The pricier Watch model is also available as a $55 daily rental.
The service comes from Lumoid, a startup that offers try-before-you-buy device rentals, including cameras and wearables. You can already sign up to try the Apple Watch when it's available. If you eventually decide to buy the product, Lumoid will count $20 from your daily rental fee for the Apple Watch Sport toward your purchase (and $30 if you're buying the Watch model you've rented).
MORE: Apple Watch FAQ: Everything You Need to Know
According to Mashable, Lumoid will not offer the Apple Watch Edition for rent, which starts at $10,000.
Lumoid's service promises to let people take new products to test in real life, giving shoppers a more personal experience than they can get in a store demo. The startup said it has already shipped thousands of devices for people to test out, and wearables such as the Pebble and the Basis Peak are already available to loan out right now. The company said it is adding the Motorola Moto 360 smartwatch to its site later this week.
Typically with Lumoid, you specify when the rental period begins and ends when you sign up for a device. The company lets you extend your rental, provided the device you're trying out hasn't been reserved by another tire-kicker.
You can pre-order the Apple Watch starting April 10, and the wearable will hit store shelves on April 24.

Reuters: 69% of American consumers not in big rush to buy Apple Watch

The Apple Watch may have garnered significant attention ahead of launch, but 69 percent of Americans don't have an interest in actually buying one, according to a recent Reuters/Ipsos survey. Consumers will be able to purchase an Apple Watch starting on April 24.

Not surprisingly, the Apple Watch requires an iPhone to utilize all functionality, and 13 percent of survey respondents said they would think about purchasing the smartphone so they can use the watch. The product's launch is a major test for Apple CEO Tim Cook, as this is the first new product from Apple in more than five years.

Even if the majority of American consumers don't have a high interest in the Apple Watch, investors are expecting the long-awaited wearable to be a financial success. Unfortunately for Apple, 52 percent of consumers believe smartwatches are just a "passing fad."

5 Cydia Tweaks That Could Use An Apple Watch Jailbreak

Apple’s first smartwatch effort is now upon us, and the question nagging many fans of Cydia tweaks for iPhone and iPad is whether there will be a jailbreak for the smaller-displaying gadget. At this point, it’s perhaps a tad premature to even speculate, but it’s an exciting prospect nonetheless, and here, we look at five tweaks that could work wonders on the gadget everybody’s talking about.

    F.lux

For those unfamiliar, the F.lux tweak is one that can adjust the warmth of an iOS device’s display for more comfortable viewing. With subtle, warm system-wide tones that can be adjusted automatically or at the discretion of the user, it’s a must-download for almost every jailbreaker, and since the Apple Watch is designed to be interacted with at regular intervals, we think it’d be a neat little feature to have as a tweak for the device.
    Winterboard

Sure, it gets a bit of stick for being rather heavy on resources at times, but Winterboard’s ability to customize the appearance of iOS is still unmatched. The Apple Watch interface, revered for its beauty, is not necessarily in need of any major aesthetic adjustments, Winterboard-level customizability is something we would not turn our noses up at.
With Winterboard in your Apple Watch jailbreak repertoire, you could feasibly modify any of your icons for a more (or less, if you please) uniformed appearance, and with so many talented designers lurking in and around Cydia, we’d relish the chance to see what alternative themes could be dreamed up.
    No Tracking

In this day and age, we should all be conscious of how our digital data is being tracked, sold, and generally used — often without our explicit consent. No Tracking is a tweak that lets users block apps from keeping tabs on data, protecting privacy and security, and as an added trump card, it also helps to conserve battery.

    Advertisements

Apple Watch does manage a full day’s mixed usage, which is sufficient for most users, but any tweak that can help to dredge even a few extra minutes is definitely worth having installed.
    Springtomize

The all-in-one tweak that lets you adjust and modify almost every facet of iOS, it’s hard to imagine using Apple Watch without the same level of jurisdiction over functions, transitions and UI elements in general. From removing little bits of iOS that you don’t like to completely altering those that you do, there’s very little that Springtomize cannot infiltrate, and should Apple Watch ever see a jailbreak, a large portion of jailbreakers will be hoping that developer Filippo Bigarella ports his iconic tweak to the smaller-displaying gadget.
    Activator

Saving perhaps the most important until last, Activator is the workhorse behind many of your favorite tweaks. Enabling you to invoke certain actions using shortcuts, button presses and swipes, it could, for example, be used to decide what happens with a double press of the Digital Crown or a two-finger swipe from one side of the device to another.
If a jailbreak for Apple Watch were to manifest itself, Activator would need to be at the very top of the list, and with many having become so accustomed to its presence over the past few years, any jailbreak would feel bereft without Activator working its magic.
So, that’s our top five, but what would you love to see from an Apple Watch jailbreak? Since there’s no real indication that any work will be done to exploit the software — save a little speculation from the Evad3rs jailbreak team — we shouldn’t get too carried away. But still, it’s okay to dream, right?
We’d love to hear your thoughts on the matter, so please do leave a comment below!

Tim Cook: Apple Watch Will Be First Smartwatch That Matters

You have to hand it to Apple, it thinks big. Apple executives are confident in their products and have seems to have a pretty good idea about what its customers want. The “Apple Way” has also allowed Apple to become the world’s largest listed company.

However, with Apple’s success comes more than a bit of arrogance. This time around, CEO Tim Cook is wagging his finger at the competition with regards to the upcoming Apple Watch (which will retail from $349 to $17,000). In a new interview with Fast Company, Cook describes why his competitors have “gotten it wrong” with the current crop of smartwatches.
“The inputs that work for a phone, a tablet, or a Mac don’t work as well on a smaller screen,” Cook explains. “Most of the companies who have done smartwatches haven’t thought that through, so they’re still using pinch-to-zoom and other gestures that we created for the iPhone.”

Cook goes on to describe how technologies like Force Touch makes more sense for a wearable platform, and allows the user to accomplish more on such a tiny display. Cook also states that being the first to the market is not often admirable, and that putting out a fully functional product that “[gets] its right” is paramount.
And then Cook lays it on thick, throwing all of the smartwatches that have been released up to this point under the bus. “We weren’t first on the MP3 player; we weren’t first on the tablet; we weren’t first on the smartphone,” Cook continues. “But we were arguably the first modern smartphone, and we will be the first modern smartwatch—the first one that matters.”
Them’s fightin’ words where I come from and actually pretty bigheaded, but that has been par for the course for Apple over the past month. In February, Jony Ive took Motorola to task for daring to offer customers the option of customizing their smartphones using the Moto Maker tool. Ive said that the Moto Maker “[abdicates] your responsibility as a designer.” Ive caused a few more eyes to roll earlier this month when he declared that customers prefer thinner smartphones over thicker devices with longer battery life. According to Ive, larger batteries make for a device that is not as “compelling.”

Poll: 40% of current iPhone owners interested in Apple Watch

The Apple Watch has gained a lot of attention from consumers, and around 40 percent of adult US Apple iPhone owners are interested in possibly purchasing the device, according to a poll by Reuters/Ipsos.

A previous Reuters/Ipsos survey found that 69 percent of American consumers aren't actually in a big rush to purchase the Apple Watch - but Apple hopes its first new product in years will be popular among iPhone owners.

There are more than 100 million iPhone owners in the United States, and almost 500 million across the world, so there is a huge base of potential customers.

Even if the Apple Watch isn't an overall hit, the device has attracted a lot of attention to the growing smartwatch and wearables market.

Apple Watch: A Buying Guide For All Price Classes

Pre-orders of Apple’s highly anticipated wearable, the Apple Watch will begin from April 10, 2015 while its official release date is April 24, 2015. Apple is known for stamping ridiculous price tags to its products, the tech giant has managed to cater to almost all financial classes, when it comes Apple Watch. While US$349 for the base model is not to be considered cheap by any means, seeing how a fully capable smartphone can be purchased for the aforementioned amount, there still are Apple Watch models that carry a much higher price tag. In order to ease your purchasing woes a bit, here is a detailed guide on how you can be a proud owner of Apple’s first ever wearable.

    Case sizes

When you will eventually go on to buy an Apple Watch, you will be presented with an option to choose between two sizes of the Watch models. Both models will differ in both dimensions and display quality. I have described details of these models below:

    38 mm Watch

    Dimensions and specifications

    • 6 mm in height
    • 3 mm in width
    • 5 mm in depth
    • 5 inch display with expected resolution of 272 x 340 pixels

    42 mm Watch

    Dimensions and specifications

    • 42 mm in height
    • 9 mm in width
    • 5 mm in depth
    • 7 inch display with expected resolution of 312 x 390 pixels

Naturally, the 42 mm variant will carry a larger price tag compared to the smaller form factor watch.
    Watch color and band combos

Are you the kind of consumer who displays an affinity towards a particular color combination? If the answer is yes, then you should know that Apple Watch has three basic material models:

    • Gold
    • Aluminum
    • Stainless steel

In addition to this, each material can be combined with either one of the two colors presented below in order to provide a diversified color combination for the wearer.

    • Watch Sport: Available in either silver or space gray aluminum
    • Basic Stainless Steel Watch: Available in either matte black finish or polished silver
    • Watch Edition:Available in gold casing in yellow or rose

    Choosing a band

Apart from the color combination, consumers will also be able to choose a matching band. Each band will possess a different price tag but will bring a whole new level of aesthetics to the table. Color options and prices of the bands have been given below:

    Sport Band ($49)

    • White
    • Black
    • Blue
    • Green
    • Pink

    Classic Buckle ($149)

    • Black
    • Midnight Blue

    Modern Buckle ($249)

    • Soft Pink
    • Brown
    • Blue
    • Bright Red
    • Rose Gray

    Leather Loop ($149)

    • Stone
    • Bright Blue
    • Brown

    Link Bracelet ($449)

    • Stainless Steel
    • Space Black Stainless Steel

    Milanese Loop ($149)

After you have selected the casing and band color schemes, you are ready to choose the most important part of the wearable, the watch itself. The Apple Watch is comprised up of three different models, with each mode possessing a different price along with a unique set of materials incorporated in to it.

    Apple Watch Sport

    Price: $349
This particular model is the cheapest that you can get your hands on. Starting at a price tag of $349 for the 38 mm model, the Sport offers an ION-X glass covering which delivers durability and aesthetics, not to mention the aluminum casing which ends up making the product almost 30 percent lighter compared to the remaining Watch models. If you are looking to become the newest member of Apple’s product club, but do not have the capacity to spend exorbitant number of funds on a premium device, then this model has been made just for you.
    Apple Watch

    Price: $549-$1099
A step up from the basic mode, the Apple Watch features a sapphire glass that reinforces the display of the wearable, along with a polished silver or matte black stainless steel construction and a variety of fashionable bands and buckles. Due to its premium quality, you can rest assured that you will be paying far more for this particular type of wearable because its price will range between $549-$1099, depending on the size and band options. However, the higher price will also give you additional freedom to choose up to 20 different case and band combinations.
    Apple Watch Edition

    Price: starts from $10,000
The Apple Watch Edition is aimed at the ‘one percenters’, but that in any way does not refrain you from purchasing one, that is of course if you are able to live the remainder of your days without an arm and a leg. The base model of this particular watch starts from $10,000, and is for the white sports band model. The most expensive model will shoot up all the way to $17,000. The Watch Edition will ship out in one of the 8 models that will either include a sports band, modern buckle or classic buckle. Given below are all the pricing, size and band details that you need to be informed about concerning the most expensive model of the Apple Watch.

    • 38 mm 18-Karat Rose Gold Case with White Sport Band: $10,000
    • 42 mm 18-Karat Rose Gold Case with White Sport Band: $12,000
    • 38 mm 18-Karat Yellow Gold Case with Black Sport Band: $10,000
    • 42 mm 18-Karat Yellow Gold Case with White Sport Band: $12,000
    • 38 mm 18-Karat Rose Gold Case with Rose Gray Modern Buckle: $17,000
    • 42 mm 18-Karat Yellow Gold Case with Black Classic Buckle: $15,000
    • 38 mm 18-Karat Yellow Gold Case with Bright Red Modern Buckle: $17,000
    • 42 mm 18-Karat Yellow Gold Case with Midnight Blue Classic Buckle: $15,000

With all the information that has been placed at your fingertips, we are confident that we have brought you one step closer to choosing the Apple Watch model that you feel fits the description of your requirement, as well as the price tag.

Roundup Of The 5 Apple Watch Apps So Far

In the lifespan of the Apple Watch, it’s still very early doors, but while we fully expect the selection of apps for the wearable to improve considerably during the next weeks and months, there’s actually quite a varied and impressive range on offer right from the start. Here, we take a look at our five most eagerly-awaited apps available from launch, which should, in turn, help you to decide what to download when you’ve acquired the Apple Watch.
In this little round-up, we’ve tried to keep things as varied as possible, so whether you’re looking to be sociable, productive, or simply kick back to a puzzle game, there’s an (Apple Watch) app for that!
    Top 5 Apple Watch Apps

    Instagram

Instagram, the iconic photo-sharing service, is ready for Apple Watch users to dive straight into. It’s a neat, convenient way for users to keep updated on what’s going on in the world of Insta, with a content feed as well as the ability to like and post emoji comments, plus there’s also support for interactive notifications on the watch, keeping you in the loop with any comments or likes coming your way.

The only real downside of Instagram, as with any other app based on photo-taking, is that it’s unable to take advantage of Apple Watch’s not-existent camera. In future generations, we’d like to think that Watch might offer its own in-built shooter, but for the time being, Instagram for Apple Watch is a supplement to the experience rather than a replacement.
    Shazam

Despite the presence of SoundHound and others, Shazam is considered the de facto king of the music-tagging applications, and having established itself on Apple’s iOS, now takes its robust feature set to the Watch.

All you have to do is tap on the Shazam app icon, and it’ll listen out for that song on the radio that you like, but do not know the name of. From there, you get the name of the song, who it’s by, and even the lyrics, allowing you to enjoy the rest of your newly-discovered tune without messing up the lines.
    Mint Personal Finance

This app will help you to keep track of your spending, and if you find it difficult to manage your monthly expenditure, Mint Personal Finance should be of assistance.

The interface is laid out simply, with info relating to how much you have spent and what funds, if any, you have free, and you also get weekly notifications to inform you on whether you’re sticking to your targets.
    Evernote

The mobile world’s go-to note taker graces almost every other platform, so it was only right that Apple Watch would be supported right from the off.

Quirks including the ability to dictate notes and set reminders, and Evernote for Apple Watch also lets you check notes related to upcoming meetings at a glance.
    BoxPop

Although the small display of Apple Watch means that gaming will never quite live up to the heights as compared with, say, an iPhone or iPad, it can still be done, as this neat little puzzler proves.
It’s called BoxPop because the goal is to pop through boxes, and there are 40 levels’ worth in total. Since it gets increasingly difficult as you pass through said levels, you’ll likely be hooked in to time, and where Angry Birds’ charming simplicity saw it dominate the iOS App Store early on, BoxPop may well be another quick-starter destined for greatness.
As noted earlier, there’ll surely be tens of thousands of Apple Watch apps available in the not-so-distant future, and if we come across any of particular interest, they’ll be covered in detail here at WCCFTech!

How To Unlock iOS 8.2 ‘Activity’ App Without Jailbreaking

Buried within iOS 8.2 interface is the Activity app, which will allow future Apple Watch owners to track their daily movements and gauge how much their fitness is improving as a result. It’s one of the many cool features of Apple’s forthcoming wearable, although it does require an Apple Watch to be connected to an iPhone before it will stand to attention. Luckily, there’s a simple little workaround at hand that enables you to check it out without an Apple Watch or indeed a jailbreak, and below, we’ve got a step-by-step tutorial.

Apple is certainly looking to increase its stake in the lucrative fitness market with iOS Health and the Apple Watch, but rather than focusing purely on the fitness fanatics, it cleverly elaborates on the Nike FuelBand and allows every user to passively track and improve activity.
The Activity app has a real FuelBand-esque feel about it, which isn’t surprising given the close ties between Apple and the fitness giant, and when you consider that some of the Nike staff formerly behind its popular gadget are now a part of Team Apple Watch, it’s even less of a shock. The FuelBand made exercise feel fun and cool by allowing users to attain NikeFuel as they went about their daily routine, and this is about the crux of Activity’s feature set.
Sounds good, right? And thanks to the guide below, you don’t need to wait for your Apple Watch to arrive before you’re able to unlock iOS 8.2’s worst-kept secret.
    Prerequisites

    • iOS device running iOS 8.2.
    • iTunes installed, preferably the latest version.
    • Additionally, you’ll also need to back your device up locally via iTunes. Using iCloud is ordinarily fine, but not for the purpose of this tutorial.

How To Unlock iOS 8.2 Apple Watch Activity App (No Jailbreak Required)

    Step 1:

First and foremost, you’ll need to grab a certain Fitness.zip file, which can be found by clicking here.
    Step 2:

Download iBackupBot for Windows / Mac.
    Step 3:

Launch iBackupBot, and navigate to the backup that you created before starting.
    Step 4:

Next, navigate through System Files –> Home Domain –> Library –> Preferences

    Step 5:

Provided that you’ve extracted the Fitness.zip file you grabbed in Step 1, click Import within iBackupBot, navigate to the System Files folder that appeared after extraction. Then, select the com.apple.Fitness.plist file.
    Step 6:

Next, navigate through App Files –> com.apple.Fitness –> Library –> Preferences.
    Step 7:

Click Import once more, and this time, you’ll be looking at the User App Files folder that you extracted in Step 1. Therein, you’ll find another com.apple.Fitness.plist that you’ll need to select.
    Step 8:

Finally, close iBackupBot down, and within iTunes, select the Restore Backup option, before opting for the backup that you just modified.
Once the backup has been restored, you should notice a shiny new Activity app on your device, one that you haven’t had to wait for Apple Watch’s release to check out. Seeing as the wearable is still over one month from reaching the end user, though, it’s as close as you’re going to get for now, so follow the steps, give the app a whirl, and do let us know how you get on by dropping a comment below.
If you need any additional assistance, my buddy Jeff at iDB has a very neat video guide that’ll help you along:

Apple sucks up to gold iwatch buyers

Always believe in your soul, you've got the power to know, you're indestructable

Fruity cargo cult Apple is apparently planning to butter up those people who are so stupidly rich they think that a £13,500 gold iWatch is a good idea.

Anyone offering to buy one of Apple's overpriced toys will be allowed to skip all queues and see dedicated Edition sales staff immediately. They will get 30 minutes to try on the gold wearable - compared to just five to 15 minutes for buyers of the aluminium Watch Sport and stainless steel Watch.
Apple has not said that you will be allowed to use one of its geniuses as a personal body slave, but it would not deny it either (in fact we didn't ask them).
During this half-hour, customers will be allowed to compare two models of Watch Edition at a time, but to lower the risk of theft, sales staff will only offer a third comparison depending on how busy the store is.
Personally we are hoping that someone tries one on and attempts to do a runner, just to see what happens.
Not all Apple Stores will stock the Watch Edition range, but if they book online a customer can have the watches couriered to their local store for inspection.
A special station and chairs will be installed in each store selling the Watch Edition, separate from the rest of the shop.
The stations will include a demonstration kit holding the watches and a try-on mat, like those found in jewellery stores. Once the customer has spent up to 30 minutes trying on the Edition, they will be shown accessories and given the option of having their watch set up there and then, or via a new online service called Virtual Personal Setup.
The setup service will be available to both Watch and Watch Edition customers. It allows them to set up a video conference from home with an online Apple Store employee to learn more about the watch, either before or after they have made the purchase.
The entry-level aluminium Apple Watch Sport starts at £299, while prices run up to £13,500 for the most expensive gold Watch Edition.

Apple Watch Edition to come with 24/7 support, private hour-long appointments, more

While many of us question the logic behind paying thousands of dollars for a smartwatch, the reality is that there are plenty of technology and watch enthusiasts out there that have earned the ability to do so financially.
Apple’s upcoming Apple Watch Edition starts at $10,000, much higher than any other product the company has ever sold. This fact alone presents a number of challenges as well as opportunities during an in-store sale.
People familiar with the matter have told 9to5Mac, however, that Apple has pretty much thought of everything to ensure the safety of merchandise while simultaneously providing potential Apple Watch Edition buyers with an experience second to none.

For starters, those interested in Apple’s high-end smartwatch will be granted longer, private appointments that take place in special Apple Watch Edition try-on areas. Unlike the standard try-on table for Apple Watch and Apple Watch Sport which will range between five to 15 minutes in length, a Watch Edition try-on can take up to an hour.
To reduce the risk of theft, Apple will generally only allow two Apple Watch Edition models to be tried on at once. A third model may only be brought out once store conditions have been assessed. Furthermore, if a customer wants to compare a Watch Edition to the other models, their salesperson will summon them over via another employee.
Apple will be extending the experience after the sale as well through an optional at-home video conference with an online Apple Store employee to learn more about the device. Edition buyers will also get a phone number to a 24/7 technical support line for two years (extended to three years with AppleCare+).

First weekend Apple Watch sales could hit one million units

Although it will take some time before general public accepts smartwatches in general and Apple Watch in particular, financial analysts believe that the gadget from Apple will be rather popular from the very start.
Many loyal Apple fans prefer to get new gadgets from the company among in the first date of availability. The company usually uses its first weekend sales to show how successful its new devices are. Apple Watch will not be an exclusion, but it is hard to predict how many units will the company sell in the first weekend. According to Gene Munster, an analyst with Piper Jaffray, sales of Apple Watch could hit one million in their first weekend of availability.
“One million total Watch units in opening weekend would imply an attach rate of less than 1 per cent of total iPhone users (close to half a percent),” said Mr. Munster in a note to clients, reports Tech Trader Daily. “We believe given interest in the product and our prior survey work, a sub 1 per cent attach rate in the opening weekend is realistic.”

The analyst believes that Apple will sell 300 thousand pre-orders in the first 24 hours and a total of million in the first weekend of sales worldwide. While this is not a lot, the analyst notes that since Apple Watch will be sold only online and at Apple retail stores, their initial success will be relatively limited.
“One important dynamic for the Watch vs the iPhone opening weekend is that iPhone launches can benefit from channel fill as Apple sends units to channel partners,” noted Mr. Munster. “The Watch will likely not benefit from channel fill given the limited distribution at launch.”

The analyst from Piper Jaffray projects that Apple will sell eight million Watch devices this calendar year. Unfortunately, Apple is not going to reveal the exact sales numbers for its smartwatches as they will be included in “other” categories of products it ships to the market.
Apple Watch is based on the S1 system-on-chip that sports application processor, memory and various interfaces. The device is able to run various applications specifically designed for it as well as work as a health and fitness tracker. Two versions of Apple Watch – smaller (38mm) and (42mm) bigger – will be available. Apple Watch Sport will be priced at $349/£299 and $399/£339; Apple Watch, will be available from $549/£479 to $1,099/£949; and Apple Watch Edition, crafted from custom rose or yellow 18-karat gold alloys, will start at $10,000/£8,000 with more advance models costing $15,000/£12,000 and $17,000/£13,500.
