Apple’s New Patent Hints At Loud And Quality Speakers In Future iPhones

According to previous reports and rumors, Apple is looking forward to ditch the 3.5mm headphone jack from future iPhones. Considering these rumors to be true, it would make perfect sense for the company to equip future iPhones with better audio speaker. On that note, Apple has been granted a new patent that describes a way that future iPhones would have high quality speakers in terms of audio and loudness.

Future iPhones To Act As Chambers For Speakers?

Since we have a limited amount of space inside our smartphones, the current speakers used are of poor quality. However, Apple’s patent has a solution for this. The company states a workaround that propose the internal housing of the iPhone as a chamber for better sound quality. Getting into a little technicality, read the description below for more details:
A portable electronic device that provides compact configurations for audio elements are disclosed. The audio elements can be drivers (e.g., speakers) or receivers (e.g., microphones). In one embodiment, an audio element can be mounted on or coupled to an intermediate structure (e.g., a flexible electrical substrate) having an opening therein to allow audio sound to pass there through. In another embodiment, an audio chamber can be formed to assist in directing audio sound between an opening an outer housing and a flexible electronic substrate to which the audio element is mounted or coupled thereto. In still another embodiment, a barrier, such as a mesh barrier, can be provided in an opening of an outer housing so that undesired foreign substances can be blocked from further entry into the opening in the outer housing.

Even though the language adopted by the company’s proposal is a little tricky, it seems that Apple will use the internals of the smartphone to act as part of the speakers. Ultimately, this will allow the device to push out more air which will result in an increased volume. Along with this, the potential audio quality will be improved as well. The company might have to redesign some internals to act as part of the speaker.
This will be a viable choice for Apple if it considers ditching the audio jack for wireless headphones. What do you think about this patent? Since Apple files a lot of patents and some of them may not be implemented at once, what do you guys think about its implementation? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

Designer Brings Back The Headphone Jack In New iPhone 7 Concept Video

There have been a lot of news surrounding the upcoming iPhone 7 lately. Rumors and reports have flooded the internet for what the iPhone maker might be up to this year. Along with several feature speculations, there have been a lot of concept videos on YouTube, showcasing what the next iPhone might look like. True or not, these concepts do give an entire different and much appealing look to the smartphone. Similarly, this new iPhone 7 concept delivers a sleek and curvy touch to the much anticipated iPhone.

iPhone 7 Concept Shows A Thin Curved Metal Design

The video depicts a thin metal design that resembles that of the old iPod Touch. Henceforth, the design is curvy and gives a clean look to the iPhone. The curved metal back carries an embedded Apple logo, which seems to be a little bigger than the ones we’re used to. Nonetheless, it looks great. Moreover, we can also see a rear facing iSight camera with LED flash and a microphone. They seem to be positioned where they are supposed to be, just like the iPhone 6s and its bigger variant.

The sides of the iPhone 7 concept are flanked with volume rockers and a mute toggle switch on one side. On the other side of the iPhone is the Power button and the SIM card slot. The bottom of the iPhone is equipped with a similar speaker grill that we see on current iPhones, microphone and the Lightning port. Moreover, the concept maker has decided to put a 3.5mm headphone jack at the bottom of the phone despite of all the rumors that Apple is looking forward to ditch it. It sure felt good to see the headphone jack back!
The front of the iPhone looks familiar with the Home button or Touch ID placed in its rightful place. Do note how the concept video shows a slight increase in the size of the button. The iPhone 7 concept is pictured in four different colors that we all know. According to the concept designer, the iPhone brags an improved and efficient 3D Touch, an improved camera, faster processor and a Force Touch Home button. On the plus side, the iPhone 7 concept is said to be water resistant.
The iPhone 7 concept looks stunning even though it does not represent what the company has planned. This is it for now, folks. How did you guys like the iPhone 7 concept? Let us know in the comments.

iOS 9 Code Suggests iPhone 7 Will Most Definitely Won’t Have A Headphone Jack

A couple of days back it came to our knowledge through a string of iOS 9 code that a future iPhone model might incorporate Li-Fi technology for lightning fast wireless speeds. Now, another string of iOS 9 code has surfaced which brings to the table another interesting bit of information – the iPhone 7 might not have a headphone jack after all.

iOS 9.3 Beta Code Suggests iPhone 7 Will Lose The Headphone Jack

The Internet was taken by storm a while back as it was revealed that Apple might ditch the headphone jack on the iPhone 7 to achieve an even thinner physical profile, and also make the device truly wireless. It was also believed that Apple will toss in wireless Bluetooth enabled EarPods into the mix as well with the iPhone 7. Now, it seems as though all of that could indeed be true, as a string of code in iOS 9, discovered by jailbreaker @kyoufujibaya, reveals that the next iPhone might ditch the analog audio connector for good in favor of something else.

    Advertisements

The rumor regarding Apple ditching the headphone jack managed to conjure up quite an uproar in the tech community, even though Cupertino hasn’t announced anything officially as yet. The thought of the headphone jack going away with the release of iPhone 7 has even forced manufacturers to jump onboard the wireless bandwagon already, while others have taken different routes such as starting petitions to force Apple to not make the unwanted move.
Personally I do believe that Apple shouldn’t give up the headphone jack, but if you look at the calendar and realize how old the existing analog connector is, then it starts to make sense that someone has to phase out this piece of tech one day or the other. We’re pretty sure that countless manufacturers will start to make Lightning ready headphones that would support digital audio sound output, enabling for even better clarity when it comes to music, watching movie, or anything else you might have to consume.
At this point in time do keep in mind that the headphone jack going away news is no more than a solid rumor, and is something which has started a startling wave on the Internet. We will only know for sure whether or not Apple will make such a move until or unless a solid hardware leak surfaces online, something which we won’t witness for quite a while from today. But still, it’s an interesting prospect whether or not Apple chooses to go along with it.
What do you think? Should Apple ditch the headphone jack in favor of wireless audio output? Be sure to let us know in the comments section below.

Could This Be What the New iPhone Will Look Like?

It’s true that Apple’s different iPhone versions have a lot in common when it comes to aesthetics, but we have to admit that the company has introduced some relatively impressive features over the last few years. Now, with the new iPhone 7 on the horizon, many Apple fans are wondering what will this new phone bring to the table, and more importantly perhaps, what will it look like? Even though official details are scarce right now, we’ve recently stumbled upon a video that shows off a possible version of the new iPhone, and it definitely looks intriguing to say the least.
First of all, the smartphone comes with a borderless OLED display and with an integrated home button. The home button allows the user to scroll through available apps and open them from the lock screen while an integrated touch ID system opens up the menu completely. Moreover, the home button merges into the screen when it is not in use, and it is actually able to recognize gestures. As far as software is concerned, the new iOS 10 will include a generous selection of useful features, including home screen customization options and the ability to set the phone to standby mode by double tapping the screen.
Would you consider buying this iPhone?

Latest Apple Patent Shows Curved Displays For Future iPhones

While we wait for the imminent arrival of Apple’s iPhone 6c, a new patent application shows that the next iPhone is going to packing something different other than its hardware.

Latest Apple Patent Shows That The Next iPhone Might Feature A Curved Display Surrounding The Front Of Its Chassis

According to the patent details, Apple has given into curved displays, possibly because of what the company’s executives witnessed during this year’s 2016 CES trade show. It is expected that the company is going to dump LCD screens in favor of a flexible OLED solution by 2018. LCD screens also have a habit of behaving erratically in cold weather and with the incorporation of OLED panels, it will be make future mobile devices belonging to the company even more efficient when it comes to battery conservation. Despite the fact that the company has filed a plethora of patents, including one where it shows that iPhone users will be able to store data on cloud servers through fingerprint recognition, we have yet to see the most interesting patents of the company physically present on its iPhones.

    Advertisements

However, seeing as how several manufacturers have begun their transition of incorporating OLED displays into their mobile devices due to their obvious benefits, it is only a matter of time before Apple also jumps into the same bandwagon. Coming back to the patent details, it was submitted last September and was approved in this week and describes an ‘electronic device with a wrapped display’. We are not sure what to make of this, but it is possible that the company will be looking to mimic the same approach that Samsung has used for its Edge series of the smartphones, and thereby, add additional functionality to their already impressive lineup.

However, we will have to wait for a considerably long period because it appears that the first iteration of an Apple iPhone sporting an OLED panel will commence from 2018 and we will be updating you accordingly on this front when we come across more details. Unfortunately, seeing as how the company’s previous patents are always stuck in limbo and not actually implemented, we fear that this particular one will also meet the same fate, but still, one can continue to pray. What do you guys think of the latest approved patent from Apple? Should the company continue to use LCD panels or is it high time that the firm starting taking advantage of OLED screens? You be the judge.

Patent Shows How Apple Will Lose The Ugly Camera Bump With Curved Photosensors

The iPhone 6 and 6s looks great, however one might always have mixed thoughts about the ridiculous camera bump at the back. A new emerged patent reveals that Apple could soon employ curved photosensors to get rid of the extra camera bump. Not only the curved sensors will level out the iPhone’s camera, it might ultimately improve it for better photos. The patent also reveals how Apple can manufacture even thinner smartphones in the future.

Curved Photosensors Will Enable iPhone Camera To Sit Flush

Published by USPTO this week, ”small form factor high-resolution camera” describes the conflict that users face between image quality and thinner camera modules. The patent elaborates a cutting-edge camera module that makes use of optics to portray compact and minute footprint with better performance. According to the explanation given by Apple, the sensors could refract light through three specially designed lenses onto a concave surface. This results in a sharp and less distorted image. Moreover, the curved arrangement encourages diffraction to a limit, which allows the use of smaller sensors and pixels.
The advent of small, mobile multipurpose devices such as smartphones and tablet or pad devices has resulted in a need for high-resolution, small form factor cameras for integration in the devices. However, due to limitations of conventional camera technology, conventional small cameras used in such devices tend to capture images at lower resolutions and/or with lower image quality than can be achieved with larger, higher quality cameras.
Irrespective of the efficiency of the curved photosensors, the mechanism might have its limitations attached. Apple explains how it would employ the software in favor of barrel distortions created by the design. This states that the company will use its software to clear any unwanted effects that might result due to curved photosensors.
    Advertisements

Nonetheless, with the help of these curved photosensors, Apple can manufacture thinner iPhones in the future. More importantly, the iPhone cameras might sit flush on a flat surface rather than a disappointing protruding look and feel. Furthermore, the adoption of curved photosensors, as per the patent, can ultimately lead Apple to make better cameras for the iPads as well.
Since the next-generation Apple Watch is rumored to feature a front facing FaceTime camera, Apple can or might implement the technology to fit it in its wearable device. This might be an important step for Apple as it tends to make its devices thinner over time.
This is it for now, folks. What do you think about the new camera design with curved photosensors? To what extent do you think that Apple might implement it in its forthcoming iPhone 7? Share your thoughts in the comments.

KGI Predicts Two iPhone 7 Plus Variants With Different Camera Specs

One of the most accurate Apple analysts, Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities predicts that the company will launch two versions of the iPhone 7 Plus. According to the report, Apple will unveil one 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus with standard iSight camera, while the second one will be a more rare version sporting a dual-camera system for high-definition photos. Kuo’s prediction of two iPhone 7 Plus variants is said to arrive in September as per the report. The note to investors was delivered on Wednesday, highlighting the two iPhone 7 Plus models with distinct camera specs.

iPhone 7 Plus Gets A Another Variant With Better Camera Specs?

Nonetheless, if the report is true, the Israeli company, LinX Imaging will carry out all the building work. If you’re unfamiliar with LinX, it’s the same company Apple acquired last year in April for a reported $20 million. LinX also unveiled its first multi-aperture cameras in June 2015 which were designed for smartphones. More information from Kuo details that the high-end iPhone 7 Plus will also feature 2-3x magnification and optical zoom. If true, the iPhone camera could definitely jump up its game.
This is the same variant of the iPhone that detailed a report for dual-camera option a few days back. The dual distinct lenses can gather ample of details for Apple to produce a substantially better image quality. Even though rumors about the dual-camera system started surfacing before the launch of iPhone 6s, it might be just a matter of time that Apple implements it. However, Kuo is one of the most reliable Apple analysts around, so you’re going to need a lot of salt to dismiss his claims.
    Advertisements

The caveats associated with the introduction of the dual-camera system is that it will not be available for the smaller iPhone 7. In fact, only a few variants of the iPhone 7 Plus will be getting the dual-camera system. Kuo thinks that the iPhone 7 Plus with the dual-camera system might just make up 25 to 35 percent of the overall iPhone 7 shipments in this year. Moreover, the rare iPhone 7 Plus model will be more expensive than the standard one, which definitely makes sense. However, consumers might not be too happy about the price charged for the iPhone 7 with high-end camera specs.
iPhone is generally the most popular smartphone for taking photos and if Apple can push the technology to the next level, it would definitely be a great deal for users. It is highly confusing to presume that Apple is releasing four different iPhone models this year, including the so-called iPhone 5se. But given all things Apple, nothing can really be said for sure about the company’s plans until actual launches take place. And it’s still quite a while left until we get to see the next iPhones from the Cupertino manufacturer.
This is it for now, folks. What do you think about the iPhone 7 Plus getting an extra variant with better camera specs? Share your views in the comments.

The Apple iPhone 7 Might Come With Redesigned Earpods Suggest Supplier Statements

As the news about the iPad Air 3 being potentially present at Apple’s March event spreads, the steady influx of news about the company’s different products has also started to increase. We’ve been hearing quite a bit about the iPhone 5se, the iPad Air 3 and even the iPhone 7 over the past week and today there’s more information that suggests interesting Apple plans for the flagship smartphone(s) due in September.

Mixed Statements By Apple Supplier Offer Insight Into Company’s Plans For This Fall

With the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus, Apple was forced to contend with change in a limited scope. We saw features such as 3D Touch alongside a long overdue camera resolution upgrade make it one board, while other features such as display resolution and design changes didn’t make it on board. The latter was expected given Apple’s schedule of design upgrades every next year so the iPhone 7 should expect to see its fair share of changes.
That in mind, Apple’s Audio Supplier, Cirrus Logic’s CEO Jason Rhodes made some interesting comments today that suggest towards Apple might be working towards the next iPhone’s accessories as well. Some rumors with respect to Apple’s earbuds expected on the iPhone 7 include lightning port connectivity and noise cancelling, which are precisely the things Mr. Rhodes made some interesting responses to today.
    Advertisements

In his statements today, Mr Rhodes hinted that in-box noise cancelling headphones might make it on board the iPhone, but pricing decisions have made folks over at Apple to stay undecided on the matter. According to him, ” . . .any time somebody talks about adding content inside a box, inside the box it ships with the phone, you can imagine the agonizing that goes into any additional micro-penny that gets added to the box.”
On the topic of another expected change on the earpods, i.e. lightning based earpods, Mr Rhodes remained allusive, stating that there was very little he could say without the presence of Made For iPhone partners. Noise cancelling earphones on the iPhone would be a good feature to have indeed, but just like Mr. Rhodes, we’d also see what additional impact that has on the end price of the gadget.
Nevertheless, Apple should be expected to take the right approach on the iPhone 7 and the pace of change at the company will be better understood after it’s March event. Right now all eyes remain on the fact that will Apple finally re-introduce the smaller iPhone to the market and what features/price the company will be introducing this time to ensure that the device is successful? We’ll find out in a little more than a month. Till then, stay tuned and let us know what you think in the comments section below.

Apple Is Working On Long Range Wireless Charging Tech For iPhone And iPad, Coming In 2017

A newly published report suggests that Apple is working on wireless charging technology that will be able to charge an iPhone or iPad from a considerable distance, and the tech could be with us by 2017.

Wireless Charing That Works From A Distance Could Be With Us In 2017

While many manufacturers were quick to adopt wireless charging for their smartphones, but Apple really doesn’t consider the tech to be viable when compared to the traditional method of plugging your device into a wall adapter. After all, you are going to make physical contact with the charging device itself in order to juice things up, hence the tech is not as ‘wireless’ as one would hope. But all of that could change by 2017, as Bloomberg is reporting that Apple is working on wireless charging tech for iOS devices that works from a distance, meaning no physical contact with the charging mat / pod is needed in order to juice up an iPhone or iPad.
Apple Inc. is working with partners in the U.S. and Asia to develop new wireless charging technology that could be deployed on its mobile devices as soon as next year, according to people familiar with the plans.
The report also reveals that Apple is working with partners in Asia and the United States when it comes to this technology. And currently, there are a few obstacles which Apple has to jump through before the technology can be deemed ready for prime time use.
Apple is exploring cutting-edge technologies that would allow iPhones and iPads to be powered from further away than the charging mats used with current smartphones, the people said, asking not to be identified as the details are private. The iPhone maker is looking to overcome technical barriers including loss of power over distance with a decision on implementing the technology still being assessed, they said.
The source also suggests that the newfound wireless charging tech could arrive in the public’s domain by 2017, which means that it could be a part of the iPhone ‘7s,’ if Apple happens to call its smartphone that during the year.
Apple has been always slow to adopt certain technologies, waiting for everything to mature till a certain point. Wireless charging has been something which users have been asking for a long, long time, and while we’re quite sure that the company will eventually deliver, but we’re certain the Cupertino camp will throw in some extra surprises as well, with today’s report adding fuel to a dimly lit fire.

Currently, the iPhone (specifically) does not support wireless charging out of the box, but thanks to numerous cases available online, adding wireless charging to your smartphone is a piece of cake. While we would not recommend that you go ahead with these cases, since the iPhone is not meant to be wirelessly charged, but if you want a taste of the tech without dumping your current ecosystem, then you might want to throw in the investment.
We’re quite sure that we’ll hear more from this in the days to come, so stay tuned. Meanwhile, be sure to let us know in the comments section below what you think about this report.

This Is How Much Thin iPhone 7 Will Be Without The Headphone Jack – Concept

The iPhone 7 is all set to lose the 3.5mm headphone jack if the buzz floating on the Interweb is to be believed. The reason behind this move is a simple one really: to make the iPhone 7 even more thinner than what it is currently. But how much thin can it get if Apple does remove the headphone jack from the iPhone 7? A new concept has surfaced online and it gives us a high quality look at things.

The iPhone 7 Is Going To Be Thin, And This Concept Shows How Much Thin It Can Get Without The Headphone Jack

While the design of the concept might not be something which Apple would reveal to the world at the end of this year, given that we have had no leaks of the iPhone 7 outlining the external design, nonetheless it’s an interesting mockup to look at.
Take a look at the concept below and see for yourself the svelte design that might adorn our pockets later this year.

The designer has indeed done a marvelous job and gives us a good glimpse at how much thinner the iPhone can get if Apple chooses to go completely wireless this year. Furthermore, on the design front, the concept artist has opted with a minimal outlook without tossing in anything that may (or may not) look out of place.
    Advertisements

At the front you get the usual display panel with thick bezels all around, signaling towards the fact that the designer played it safe without going overboard with the design. At the back, the smartphone seems to be covered with glass, taking us back to the iPhone 4 / 4s days of a complete glass front and back design.
The metal bands around the smartphone are flat, as opposed to the curved ones which Apple opted for with its iPhone 6 and 6s. And while we have finally the curved look of the iPhone 6s, but we still have to admit that things can get unnecessarily slippery at times in terms of usage, hence A+ to the designer for the flat sides. Take note, Apple!
It will be interesting to see how the world will react to the iPhone 7 announcement, given the smartphone does lose its 3.5mm headphone jack, since the mere rumor of it has created an uproar in the tech community, with petitions floating online to stop Cupertino from making such a move.
But if you look at things from a different angle, you have to admit that the 3.5mm headphone jack is an aging piece of tech and either needs to be replaced or shunned down for good. What do you think?

Internal Codename For The iPhone 7 Dual Camera Leaks; Might Become A Reality This Year

Even though the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus are almost eight months away, that doesn’t stop news and information from surfacing through the leak/rumor mill. We’ve heard quite a lot so far about the upcoming flagship upgrades from Apple, the more interesting of which has been the potential presence of a dual camera setup on the smartphones.
While it might sound a bit of overkill as of now, given Apple’s general hesitation of introducing such drastic changes, more sources have now started to speak up on the matter. Today, we’ve got some rather strange whispers straight out of China for you, so take a look below to find out more.

Apple’s iPhone 7 Dual Camera Reportedly Has An Internal Code-name

When it comes to the iPhone 7, we’ve heard several things about the device so far. Not only should the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus be expected to feature Apple’s A10 processor on board, but the devices have also been rumored to come with some interesting design changes on board. These include water and dust proof certification, coupled with a new headphone jack and perhaps even noise cancelling earphones in the box.
But while these are tertiary changes to the iPhone, the recent speculation about a dual camera setup on board has managed to gain a lot of attention. Today, some news straight out of China suggests that Apple has an internal codename for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus‘ dual camera. This codename, as you can see in the image above is the ‘iPhone 7 Plus dual’, which doesn’t really capture imagination if you ask us.

If Apple does choose to introduce a dual camera setup on the iPhone 7, then we should expect to see some accompanying software upgrades from Cupertino too. The company’s known to give careful thought and work to any new features that it introduces to its devices, with Apple having taken its fair share of time in the past to upgrade the iPhone’s screen size, camera resolution and RAM; features that receive annual focus in the Android world.
There’s still plenty of time left until we will get to see the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus being launched by Apple so more information on the matter should be expected to surface inevitably. Till then, we’ll keep our guns pointed at the upcoming Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge launches by Samsung so stay tuned and let us know what you think in the comments section below. We’ll keep you updated in the meanwhile.

Apple Testing Dual-Lens Camera Samples For iPhone 7 Plus

Several camera lens makers in Japan and China, including Largan Technology have sent dual-lens camera sensor samples to Apple for testing purposes. Previously, there were various reports and rumors citing that Apple plans to include a dual-lens camera module on the iPhone 7 Plus. Moreover, we also got to know that Apple will release two iPhone 7 Plus models this year, separated by different camera specifications.

Apple Is Receiving Dual-Lens Camera Samples From Suppliers

The Taiwan-based Largan Technology is reportedly supplying Apple with 60 percent of its camera lens needs. Now, it seems that the same company is looking forward to supply dual-lens camera to the company, possibly to diversify its supply chain and keeping up with the technology. Moreover, the report also claims that ‘Apple is likely to seek dual-lens camera products from other makers to lower risk’.
Taiwan-based Largan Technology as well as Japan- and China-based camera lens makers have sent dual-lens camera samples to Apple for testing, according to sources from the upstream supply chain. Apple is reportedly planning to adopt a dual-lens camera for its next-generation iPhone Plus.
According to previous reports, the smaller sibling of the iPhone 7 is said to come with a single camera lens setup, unlike its bigger variant. Moreover, there will be two variants of the iPhone 7 Plus – one will be a standard version with single rear-facing iSight camera, while the other variant will be a more photography-oriented device with dual-lens camera system. It might be due to space constraints that Apple did not feature the smaller version of iPhone 7 with dual-lens camera. Nonetheless, we’re expecting two new iPhone 7 Plus variants this year.

It would not be appropriate to say that Apple is the first mover of dual-lens camera module in the smartphone industry. Other Android counterparts have featured dual lens camera system on their smartphones as well. For instance, HTC’s M8 and M9 have used dual-lens camera system. Nonetheless, it will be interesting to see how the Cupertino company uses the dual-lens camera system in iPhone 7.
It is also reported that Apple plans to release three new products on March 15, mainly constituting the smaller iPhone 5se, new Apple Watch as well as the new iPad Air 3 that looks more like a miniature version of the iPad Pro.
This is it for now, folks. What are your thoughts on the dual-lens camera setup for the iPhone 7 Plus? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.

The iPhone 7 To Do Away With Protruding Camera Sensor; Sleek Design Details Revealed

Even though it wont be until September when we get to see the next iPhone launches from Apple, things are looking to pick pace w.r.t leaks and rumors about the device(s). Right now, there are a couple of hot topics when it comes to the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus which include a dual camera setup for the larger screened variant and dust/waterproofing finally making it on board Apple’s flagship. Today some more design details of the iPhone 7 in particular have surfaced, so lets take a look at what can be expected to change from Apple’s end this year.

Latest Rumors Suggest Subtle Design Changes For The Apple iPhone 7

When it comes to smartphone design, manufacturers have started to find themselves in tough spots lately. As the industry and market trend moves towards more simplicity, there are very little details that can be further altered on existing designs. What’s more is that all of this is taking place in a world of increased customer knowledge and diverse preferences, so perhaps 2016 can be said to be the year of performance specifications, rather than design for flagship smartphones.
With the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus Apple was spared the need to make any design upgrades, given that the device’s were a refinement of the current iPhone generation. But if you’re big on major design upgrades, you might be in for some disappointing bit of news today according to the latest information. As you can see in the image above, MacRumors’ sources claim that Apple, like Samsung, will also be taking a more subtle approach with its 2016 flagship smartphone launches.
    Advertisements

Two changes which should be expected on the iPhone 7 in particular from Apple this year are relocated antenna bands for the device and a smoother camera sensor. Both of these should make subtle yet important impact on the iPhone’s design and should make things flow rather nicely when it comes to overall aesthetics on the device’s rear.
The relocated antenna bands should allow for a much more smoother back, especially for those that don’t use cases. The flatter camera sensor should also lend a much more futuristic look to the device; which is something the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus came under fire for doing away with. In addition, it should be a nice feature for all Apple fans who haven’t been able to sit still since Cupertino chose a protruding camera sensor in 2014.
A flatter camera sensor is something which has also surfaced in relation to the Samsung Galaxy S7 earlier today so manufacturers do seem to be taking the right direction. Whether these changes materialize is another matter and as far as Samsung’s flagship goes, things should be clear in little less than 3 weeks. For the iPhone, you’ve got a long wait ahead of you. Till then, stay tuned and let us know what you think in the comments section below. We’ll keep you updated in the meanwhile.

Apple iPhone 7 (2016) first design details leaked

    Features much-needed backside corrections

The design of Apple’s upcoming tenth-generation iPhone 7, due for release later this fall, will appear very similar to the exterior design used for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S with two significant exceptions, according to sources close to the supply chain.

A new hint from the folks at MacRumors by someone familiar with Apple’s new design choices has said that the iPhone 7 will have a rear camera that is flush with the rear casing, similar to all Apple phones released before the iPhone 6 in 2014. This is a big improvement, if not a much-needed correction, for the company’s flagship product and one that is sure to alleviate case manufacturers from the extra headache of designing for protruding internal rear camera hardware
The second significant exception to the iPhone 7 design will be the removal of antenna bands across the rear of the device, allowing for a non-invasive, completely metal finish. On the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S, these rear plastic bands are used simply to separate the antennas from the main case, while the metal antennas themselves are located on the sides of the devices.
The iPhone 6 uses an NXP 65V10 NFC module and a AMS AS3923 NFC Booster in the very top of the device, while the iPhone 6S uses an NVP 66V10 NFC module in the top of the device and has removed the AMS booster chip. On the other hand, the iPhone 6 uses an RF Micro Devices RF5159 antenna switch, while the iPhone 6S uses an RF Micro Devices RF5150 antenna switch. Both device lineups currently use three power amplifier modules.
The source familiar with Apple’s new design choices is unable to confirm whether the tenth-generation iPhone 7 units will be thinner than the iPhone 6 (6.9mm) / iPhone 6 Plus (7.1mm) and iPhone 6S (7.1mm) / iPhone 6S Plus (7.3mm), but any thickness reductions are expected to be very minimal if the company is to use the same 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch display sizes.
An interesting Quora post titled, “Would Steve Jobs have allowed the iPhone 6 to have protruding camera and plastic bands on the back?” gives a well-considered philosophical take on Apple’s design choices of the past two years of smartphone product releases.
The upcoming iPhone 7 “Plus” is also expected to feature dual rear cameras, as we wrote about earlier, and may have two different sub-models to choose from – a “Plus” option with a single rear camera, and another “Plus” option with two. However, it is yet to be confirmed if this will actually be the case.

iPhone 7 to be rid of camera bump

When the iPhone 6 came around, Apple managed to make the body of the phone so thin that the camera couldn’t sit level with the rest of it, causing what we now know as the camera bump. Now, apparently Apple will be fixing this in the design of this year’s iPhone according to new reports, which also suggest that the antenna lines on the back will also disappear.
According to a source speaking with MacRumors, Apple has found a way to make its camera module a bit smaller, allowing it to fit inside of a thinner smartphone properly and removing the bump.

Other rumors surrounding the iPhone 7 suggest that the company will be ditching the headphone jack this year though this has yet to be officially confirmed. Instead, we may see Apple bundle headphones with a lightning port connection instead or make the switch to wireless ear pods.
The iPhone 7 will be revealed later this year in September. However, there is another new iPhone coming in March, known as the iPhone 5SE, which is said to feature the iPhone 5S 4-inch design with the internal specifications of an iPhone 6S.

We Haven’t Seen An iPhone 7 Concept More Elegant Than This

While it’s true that there are numerous iPhone 7 concepts floating around the Web, but there are only a handful of them that fall under the ‘sane’ category. But every once in a while we will stumble on something that catches our attention, and then there’s something that leaves us in complete awe. Today happens to be that day where we have stumbled upon concept gold, which not only looks awesome, but is perhaps the most elegant iPhone 7 concept we have seen to date in a lot of ways.

New iPhone 7 Concept Screams Features And Elegance

Created by Herman Haidin, the concept features a 5-inch display that adorns the entire front panel of the device. There are no bezels, just a pure display to glance at, and quite frankly, it looks beautiful, and doesn’t sway away from Apple’s design language. Furthermore, the display also works as a solar panel, which will charge your iPhone when you use it outdoor. A+ for that idea.
There’s also a display on the back as well, allowing users to customize it to their liking, with space for certain widgetsl.
The device is imagined to be just 3mm thick, which might seem overkill and something which we will definitely not see this year in the iPhone 7, but the creator of this concept says that this will be achieved if the device loses all the connectors in favor of going absolutely wireless. So yes, there will be wireless charging on board, and of course, no headphone jack.
There are other quirks tossed into the mix as well, such as complete waterproofing, allowing you to take your iPhone for a swim along with you, and topped off with iDiver software, you can shoot using the camera underwater as well.

Check out the entire concept below and see for yourself the greatness it brings with it.

While the tech used in the concept might be a little too far fetched, and something we will definitely not see for at least a couple of years, but it does give us a good glimpse of what to expect from future mobile devices such as the iPhone.
It’s also quite possible that we might not see a sudden shift in design just yet, after all, there are a lot of things that need to be figured out before manufacturers make such a gigantic leap. For instance, battery life, and how will it be handled in such a thin form factor.
We’ll sure someone will have it figured out. Eventually.
