Apple’s iPad Pro and productivity tablets could be threat for Intel – Analyst

If Apple manages to popularize its iPad Pro tablet among professionals, then over time such devices could expand their market presence and compete against various notebooks and 2-in-1s based on microprocessors from Intel Corp.
Even though Apple’s iPad Pro introduced this week leverages Apple iOS ecosystem, the new product does not exactly belong to the same category of tablets as the typical iPad. Moreover, with software from Adobe, Microsoft and others, the iPad Pro is getting closer not only to Samsung’s Galaxy Tab Pro and Microsoft Corp.’s Surface Pro, but also to various notebooks and 2-in-1 devices by various manufacturers.

Romit Shah, an analyst with Nomura Equity Research, believes that Apple specifically created two products – the MacBook and the iPad Pro – to compete not only against Microsoft Surface Pro, but also against Windows in general. Moreover, Apple is ready to cannibalize some of MacBook sales with the iPad Pro.
“We find it interesting that although this device will very likely compete with Microsoft’s Surface, Apple chose iOS which runs on Apple’s ARM-based A-series chips and not Mac OS which runs on Intel’s x86,” Mr. Shah wrote in a note for clients, reports TechTraderDaily. “We believe Apple is choosing to cannibalize its MacBook business in favor of iPad Pro.”

The iPad Pro will inevitably compete against Apple’s latest Intel Core M-based MacBook: it features similar display, a different operating system as well as an ARM-based application processor. Among its advantages are longer battery life as well as touch-screen input. Apple’s Mac OS is supported by more productivity, professional and creative applications than iOS, but everything may change in the future.
In fact, if Apple manages to drive iPad Pro into productivity and professional sectors, it will be followed by makers of Google Android-based tablets.
“Until iPad Pro’s launch, no device existed in the market that is purpose built to leverage Microsoft’s Office support in a non-Windows device,” wrote the analyst. “Now, with Apple behind it, we expect most Android tablet makers to launch similar devices in the coming periods.”

While Intel remains the top supplier of system-on-chips for Google Android tablets, the majority of them are based on ARM application processors. As a result, the emergence of productivity tablets could hurt sales of Intel’s microprocessors for 2-in-1s and notebooks.
“We think that a combination of productivity software support from Microsoft and Ultrabook-like non-Intel hardware from OEMs such as Apple and Samsung could potentially start eating into Intel’s core notebook business in both consumer and enterprise end-markets,” wrote Mr. Shah.

Would you want a gold engraved iPad Pro?

Apple products are often seen by many as a premium, whether you’re trying to buy an iPhone in China, or an Apple Watch in the western world. That said, none of them perhaps are quite as luxurious as the optional extra being offered by Goldegenie, the self-described gold-plating specialist from London. If you have the money to pay for it, it’ll cover a brand new iPad Pro with mirror-finish 24k gold, rose gold or platinum and it’ll even engrave something in the back if you want it too.
Of course since the iPad Pro isn’t quite out yet, it’s only up as a pre-order option right now, but you can put down your 50 per cent deposit of £927 + VAT. That price gets you the 128GB version plated in 24k yellow gold. If you want the platinum or rose gold variant, you’ll have to pay a little more: £985 and £955 respectively – though you will be charged VAT on top of that and a further duplicate charge when the iPad Pro becomes available.
All iPads are said to be delivered sim free and are unlocked so can be used anywhere in the world.

Based on the expected price tag of the new iPad Pro, adding a gold casing to it just about doubles the price, which is quite a significant investment considering the tablet is already not the cheapest piece of new technology.
If you really want a gold touch-screen Apple device though and can’t quite afford the brand new iPad Pro, Goldgenie does also offer plating services for existing hardware. You can have an iPad of any type plated in yellow gold for £830 + VAT, but if that’s too rich you can also have your iPhone done for £530 + VAT. £614 if you want it in platinum.

Apple iPad Pro Releasing On November 13th; Pre-Orders Start

With the launch of the iPad Pro, Apple took an entirely new approach with its tablet. Before the launch of the 12.9 inch tablet, that had been in the rumor mill a good year before this September, the iPad was focused mainly towards entertainment and multimedia, with some enterprise functions being thrown into the mix. The iPad Pro takes a more serious approach towards the whole mobility and work approach and today we have some more news about the device’s release date.

Apple iPad Pro Pre-Orders Start; Slate To Reportedly Be Released On November 13th

Even though Apple itself hasn’t started iPad Pro orders so far, other retailers seem eager to get ahead of the pack it seems, as iPad Pro pre-orders have opened up today. The retailer in question is Sam’s Club, and if you’re looking to book a massive iPad for yourself, head over to their website given at the bottom of this post.
As of this moment, the iPad Pro is out of stock at Sam’s Club’s online site, meaning that folks out there are already busy booking one for themselves. The larger tablet from Apple comes with its own host of features that should provide a good balance between work and play or flat out hardcore performance should you be looking for that.

In today’s second bit of news, sources have now started to claim that the iPad Pro will be released on November 13th, which is barely a week from now. The slate has seen several bits and pieces of news surface about its release date, with 11th November also having been thrown into the mix. Today’s information only adds two more days to it, so all those looking to get one should breathe a sigh of relief, for now.
The iPad Pro comes with Apple’s A9X on board, which builds on the A8X debuted in the iPad Air 2 last year. The A8X managed to surprise quite a few in the gadget world, with Apple choosing to debut the SoC with its own Tri-Core cyclone architecture. Aside from the A9X, the iPad Pro also comes with an 8MP rear camera, four speakers, 10 hours of claimed battery life and more but nothing can be said about the device for sure until we get to test one for ourselves.
Will you be pre-ordering an Apple iPad Pro? Let us know what you think in the comments section below and stay tuned for more.

Apple A9X Vs A8X Vs A9 Vs Intel Core Processors – Benchmark Breakdown

With the launch of the iPad Air 2 last year, Apple took its mobile processor game to another level through the introduction of the A8X processor on the tablet. The A8X was the first of its kind with a tri-core Cyclone architecture that managed to put every other processor out there to shame when it came to benchmark scores. Therefore the bar was set pretty high for Apple when it came to its 2016 tablet launches, and the company seems to have delivered with the launch of the A9X processor on the 12.9 inch iPad Pro launched this September.

Apple A9X Benchmark Scores Show Commanding Lead Over Predecessor

With the launch of the iPad Pro, Apple seems to have some big expectations from the tablet sphere. The iPad Pro should be enough to replace notebook PCs, claims company CEO Tim Cook in recent statements. But while this might sound to be a bit of an overstatement, when it comes to performance benchmarks, Apple seems to have hit the mark once again.
The Cupertino manufacturer is known for single core performance on its devices, and if you take a look at the CPU benchmarks above, you’ll see that Apple’s lead in this segment is here to stay. The A9X on the iPad Pro manages to not only outperform every other mobile device, as should be expected, but also takes a good lead over Apple’s 2015 MacBook powered by Core-M and manages to almost match performance by other, older notebooks powered by Intel’s Core i3 and Core i5 processors.

In mobile devices, the performance gap is much more significant when compared against notebooks. The A9X manages to take a lead of nearly 1500 points in overall CPU performance against its predecessor, the A8X, in single core results. The A8X is also outperformed by the iPhone 6s’ A9 as can be seen in the first image above. Interestingly however, the difference between the A8 and the A8X isn’t that much, with the A8X leading barely by a 100 points in overall CPU results.
Multi-core tests take things to another level, with the A8X managing to bridge the gap somewhat in overall CPU results. It also manages to overtake the A9, which is most likely due to the A8X’s tri-core architecture that adds an extra core into the mix (the A9 is dual core). Just for comparison sake, if you take a look at the A9X’s performance when stacked against the iPad 2’s A5, you’ll see just how far Apple’s managed to come as a CPU designer. The A9X gets 10 times the score as the A5, decimating the older chip in the process.
    Advertisements

Taking a look at the graphics side of things, we see just how much work Apple has put into designing the iPad Pro and the A9X. GFXBench Offscreen is where the iPad Pro really manages to dominate as it not only gets a higher score than the iPad Air 2, but also Apple’s 2015 MacBook Pro and Air variants, running on Intel’s Iris Pro GPUs. It also manages to outperform Microsoft’s Surface Pro 4 in an interesting twist of things that might sway some users towards Apple.
Things become slightly more normal in Onscreen tests, with the iPad Pro, the iPad Air 2, the 2015 MacBook Air and the 2015 Retina MacBook all having nearly similar scores. Since Onscreen is run on the device’s native screen resolution, the iPad Pro’s large 12.9 inch screen doesn’t do the tablet any favors over here. Nevertheless, one thing is for sure. Apple has created one impressive piece of hardware, which should be able to perform quite well should adequate software support become available.

Finally, moving towards throttling scores, we see that the A9X manages to stand its ground when running at top frequencies at long time periods. When run at 10 minutes at peak frequency, both the A9 and the A9X manage to sustain their performance and witness little drops, but the A9 does see its frequency dip significantly. The A9X on the other hand remains relatively stable at both 10 and 30 minutes, which is once again quite impressive given that the iPad Pro does not come with a cooling fan on board. Apple’s tablet should manage to sustain performance for quite a while when run at top frequencies, which should be a plus point given the uses the Cupertino company has in store for it.
That covers our benchmark analysis of the Apple A9X and its comparison with other hardware. While Tim Cook’s statements that the iPad Pro should completely replace the PC/notebook are undoubtedly far fetched at best, you can see where they come from after today’s coverage. Thoughts? Let us know what you think in the comments section below and stay tuned for more.

Always-on ‘Hey Siri’ Voice Command Support Is Absent On The New iPad Pro

The gigantic 12.9-inch iPad Pro is now here, bragging to be the most efficient and capable iPad to date with high-end specifications and a bevy of new features. In short, the new iPad Pro is a powerhouse, a true media consumption platform as well as a PC replacement according to Tim Cook. However, one of the handy features is missing. The always-on ‘Hey Siri’ voice command feature is absent on the iPad Pro, which is a bummer for many.

The M9 coprocessor in the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus is responsible for features like ‘Hey Siri’ voice commands, which were always-on. The feature allows users to access Siri without holding the Home button on your IOS device. Basically, the feature tends to reduce labor disallowing users to reach out to the button and access Siri in case of need. This feature is pretty handy while driving, however, it’s not like users would drive with a 12.9-inch screen rocking on the dock. Nonetheless, the feature would have been pretty helpful.
Let’s see the reason behind the iPad Pro’s lacking support for always-on ‘Hey Siri’ voice command function.
The iPad Pro Is Exclusive To The iPhone 6s And 6s Plus

Apple’s M9 coprocessor is responsible for any motion related measurements and tasks like running, walking and other body movements with built-in accelerometer and gyroscope. According to Apple, the M9 motion coprocessor is much more efficient because it works with the A9 series of processors.

To think that the iPad Pro would be packed without an M9 coprocessor would be wrong. The chip is indeed present alongside the A9X chipset, but the iPad Pro is lacking support for always-on ‘Hey Siri’ feature. Previous generation devices like the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus did not feature an always-on voice command feature for accessing Siri, unless the device is plugged in. Henceforth, iPad Pro users can only access Siri through their voice commands while it is connected to the charger.
Mainly, it seems like it has something to do with the device’s portability. Apple Watch has ‘Hey Siri’ voice command feature enabled that works when a person raises his wrist and then speaks. The lack of support for always-on ‘Hey Siri’ can also be sensed in the Settings app as no voice commands for the feature are available, unless the device is connected to power. This states that the iPad Pro remains exclusive to the new generation iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.
This is it for now, folks. How do you feel about the absence of always-on ‘Hey Siri’ feature on the new 12.9-inch iPad pro? Share your thoughts in the comments.

    IPad Pro fails iFixit Teardown

    Full of glue

IFixit have managed to prove that you really don’t get what you pay for when it opened the back of Apple’s Surface knock-off the iPad Pro. Apparently you pay for a lot of glue to hold it all together and make it impossible to fix.

The team found that rather a lot of glue was used to build the iPad Pro which was far more than should be used on a device of this size.
The display assembly's connector is actually screwed down to the logic board right down the middle of the tablet, in between two batteries.
The 10,700 mAh batteries could have been bigger but it turned out that the iPad Pro’s four self-balancing speakers are so big that they waste what should have been battery space.
Apparently everything in the Pro was held down by shedloads of glue or surprise screws. About the only surprising thing was the batteries were fairly easy to remove and were not soldered onto the logic board.
The Smart Connector is nearly impossible to replace without destroying something.
So for more than a $1000 the iPad Pro is nearly impossible to repair. According to iFixit's it is three out of ten mostly because everything is glued down tight. What this means is that if anything goes wrong you will have to get a new one as even Apple would have difficulty hacking its way into it.
Still you get what you pay for... Oh.

The iPad Pro Takes An Insane Amount Of Time To Fully Charge Up

The iPad Pro has finally gone up for sale the world over in a staggering 40 countries, with many users getting to grips with Cupertino’s new tablet at a fast pace. As we move slowly into the future, more and more tidbits regarding the tablet have started to surface, for example the iPad Pro doesn’t support the always-on ‘Hey Siri’ feature like the iPhone 6s, and now, we’ve come across another interesting piece of information regarding the amount of time the 12.9-inch tablet takes to fully charge up.

Four And A Half Hours Of Charging Time Is Simply Absurd

According to tests run by ArsTechnica, the iPad Pro charges from zero to full in a whopping four and a half hours. This amount of time is taken only under the condition that you do not use the tablet at all during the charging process. Now, the strange this is, Apple ships the iPad Pro with the very same charger that ships with the iPad Air, which is a 12W power adapter, which means the accessory has to put in more effort on the clock to fully charge the massive 10307mAh battery of Cupertino’s new 12.9-inch slate.
See, the thing is, four and a half hours isn’t a long time given the fact that you’re going to charge the tablet overnight most of the time. But if you’re planning to grab a quick charge at the airport or maybe at a coffee shop, then things might take a turn for the worse.

It still baffles us to this very day why Apple hasn’t opted for fast charging given that most smartphone manufacturers have jumped onboard the bandwagon. We’re certain that Apple has good reason behind it, but for the average user it’s a missing feature and we all would love to see it make it onto the next iOS device that comes out of the Apple camp.
Strangely enough, Apple doesn’t sell a more powerful charger than the 12W offering for iOS devices hence users have no other choice but to stick with slow charging for now, until or unless you’re willing to invest in something even more powerful, which quite frankly, we wouldn’t recommend, as it can potentially damage the hardware present in the iPad Pro.
If you bought the iPad Pro and found the charging time to be ridiculously absurd, then be sure to be vocal about it in the comments section below. Furthermore, do you think Apple should implement fast charging tech in its future hardware? We for one want it really, really bad!

iPad Pro Beats Microsoft’s New Surface Pro 4 At Stylus Tracking – Video

There are many aspects of comparison between Microsoft’s Surface Pro 4 and the infamous iPad Pro. The prior is known for its Surface Pen Stylus which is a fluid interactive tool for maneuvering with tiny objects on the screen. Even though the Surface Pen Stylus is an intuitive tool for advanced operations, it seems that the iPad Pro’s Apple Pencil has beaten it on the first try.

The Apple Pencil will not be available for another week, however, one journalist by the name of Angel Jimenez de Luiz has tested out the new iPad Pro and its complimentary Apple Pencil. His point was to compare the stylus performance of various devices with Apple Pencil and stack them up against each other in a tracking test.
Let’s see how the new Apple Pencil ranks against Microsoft’s Surface Pen Stylus in terms of stylus tracking.
iPad Pro Is Better At Stylus Tracking Compared To Surface Pro 4

Stylus tracking has everything to do with the responsiveness of the operation. Even though the Surface Pen Stylus does a pretty good job, clearly the iPad Pro does it a little better when compared side-by-side. Below is a video in which the journalist explains both, iPad Pro and the 2-in-1 Surface Pro 4’s corresponding stylus tracking.

The comparison shows the amount of stutter these two stylus have on the display of their parent device. The journalist used the Notes application on the iPad Pro and the OneNote application on Microsoft’s Surface Pro 4. The emphasis on the lag shows that the iPad Pro does a better job than the Surface Pen Stylus.

One important aspect to consider is that the Onenote app in itself is worse than the Notes app on the iPad Pro while refreshing operation is in action. This could incur further lags for the Surface Pro 4, as the line following the stylus takes a little time to catch the tip. A better comparison would be to choose the same application on both devices.
Do take note that the comparison between the iPad Pro’s and Surface Pro 4 is not to be viewed as the final verdict. The judgement is based solely on the visual appearance of the operation. The Surface Pro 4 is definitely one of the powerful machines and does a pretty good job with its stylus as well.
This is it for now, folks. How did you like the comparison between the recently launched iPad pro and Microsoft’s Surface Pro 4? Feel free to drop a comment down below.

iFixit dismantles the iPad Pro, awards it a sub-par repairability score

No sooner did Apple put its new iPad Pro on sale that iFixit got to work dismantling it in the name of repairability.
The first order of business was to get inside the iPad Pro, a process that required some opening tools, a heavy-duty suction cup and some heat to loosen up the adhesive. Under the hood, the team discovered the logic board is situated in the center of the tablet which meant holding the display up while working to remove it.

Another key difference between this new slate and previous models is the fact that Apple has dedicated a lot of room to the four speaker enclosures. iFixit estimates that the speaker system comes at the cost of a potential 50 percent increase to battery capacity. Ouch.
Digging deeper, it appears as though the camera module used in the iPad Pro (does a tablet of this nature really even need a rear camera?) is the same as the one found in the iPad Air 2. And in an iPad first, the logic board EMI shielding had to be removed to get at the logic board itself as there are a lot of cable connectors underneath it.

Apple is pretty serious about the speaker system as they’ve created chambers for each one, machined directly into the iPad Pro’s aluminum enclosure. As anyone that’s ever worked with car audio can attest to, a properly-designed speaker chamber is paramount when it comes to getting the best sound possible.
The team was in for another surprise when it reached the batteries as Apple used adhesive pull tabs that make removal much easier. The battery itself – or, I should say, the two batteries combined – add up to 38.3Wh and 10,307mAh.

All things considered, iFixit awarded the iPad Pro a repairability score of three out of 10 (the higher the number, the easier it is to repair). The slate earned praise for the aforementioned battery tabs as well as the fact that the LCD panel and front panel glass are fused together, thus simplifying the opening procedure. Unfortunately, that also increases the cost of screen repair. The liberal use of adhesive throughout also didn’t help matters.

Apple Confirms The iPad Pro Features A USB 3.0 Capable Lightning Port

We know the iPad Pro is a fast, premium and gigantic device, but what we didn’t know is that Apple snuck in a USB 3.0-compatible Lightning port. The teardown of the 12.9-inch iPad by iFixit reveals components that hinted USB 3.0 capabilities. Previously, the iPhone manufacturer did not showcase this feature publicly, but according to Ars Technica, Apple has confirmed that the iPad Pro features ultra-fast data transfer speeds via USB 3.0-capable Lightning port.

A USB 3.0 has a theoretical data transfer speed up to 5Gbps or 625MB, ultimately making it as much as 10 times faster than the USB 2.0. Although, Apple is fond of its Thunderbolt connectors which are twice as fast as USB 3.0, the latter has the benefit of backward compatibility with USB 2.0.
Let’s see some additional details of what the iPad Pro’s Lightning port is capable of.
iPad Pro’s Lightning Port Has Support For USB 3.0-Capabilities

It’s good that Apple sneakily installed support for USB 3.0 in the Lightning port of the iPad Pro, however, there still seems to be something keeping users from taking advantage of the incredibly fast data transfer speed. Apple did not include any Lightning cable to support the USB 3.0 capable Lightning port.

So it is not clear how users can take advantage of a feature whose medium is yet not identified. Hopefully, Apple will jot down a solution to this soon as the company decides to release a Lightning to USB 3.0 adapter. Many users are testing the current USB 2.0 cable and found that the accessory is lacking a significant number of pins to meet the criteria of the USB 3.0. Henceforth, the Lightning cable would be a little different in terms of physical aspects.

For many users out there, the USB 3.0 proves to be unnecessary unless one transfers huge sum of data like 4K video and more. For lesser sized files, Apple has adopted ways to transfer files via iTunes Wi-Fi syncing and AirDrop. So, the USB 3.0 will be useful for photographers and video editors. It might be possible that Apple implements the technology into future iPhones for faster charging and faster data transfer speeds to and from the smartphone. Apple’s next generation A10 processor might also have a USB 3.0 compatible controller for convenience to fit in smaller devices.
This is it for now, folks. What do you think about iPad Pro’s Lightning port with support for USB 3.0? Will Apple provide a solution for the cable soon? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Tim Cook seems to think that the iPad Pro could replace all PCs

We have heard about PCs as we know them today dying out plenty of times over the years and our latest example comes from Apple. Tim Cook seems to be under the impression that the iPad Pro, Apple’s new 13-inch tablet, could replace both desktops and notebooks: “I think if you’re looking at a PC, why would you buy a PC anymore? No really, why would you buy one?”, he said in an interview with the Telegraph this week.
“Yes, the iPad Pro is a replacement for a notebook or a desktop for many, many people. They will start using it and conclude they no longer need to use anything else, other than their phones.”

The odd thing about this is that Apple also sells PCs, in the form of its iMacs, Macbooks and the Mac Pro, all of which sell quite well. In-fact, OS X’s market share has increased a bit in recent years. On top of that, aside from some additional multitasking features, the iPad Pro doesn’t do much more than the regular iPad at this moment in time. Sure, you could buy the £80 stylus and draw on Photoshop, but that’s about it.
Keyboard docks have been available for the regular iPad for some time, as have productivity apps like Microsoft Office or Apple’s own apps, like Pages. Cook wraps up his interview by noting that while he is expecting the iPad Pro to cause some “cannibalization”, as long as the company is doing it to itself, it doesn’t really “spend any time worrying”.

Para tarefas basicas até acredito que sim, agora para trabalho a serio e jogos a serio, não me parece que o iPad esteja à altura desses acontecimentos.

iPad Pro Users Report Unresponsive Units After Charging, Requires Hard Restart

The iPad Pro is Apple’s biggest iPad to date. It packs an enormous amount of power with all thanks to the A9X chip and 4GB of RAM. However, many users have reported in Apple Support Communities that their 12.9-inch iPad is unresponsive after being charged overnight or a long extended period of time. It has been just a few days since the launch of the gigantic iPad Pro and users have already started facing issues related to the unresponsiveness of the device.

Several users claim that their iPad Pro appeared stuck or frozen, while not waking up on multiple occasions. A lot of users have faced this issue while performing a hard restart will restore it temporarily for some users. There has been no official comments from Apple so far and possibly the company will take its time.
Let’s dive in to see some additional ways of reviving an unresponsive iPad Pro and how Apple will fix it in the future.
iPad Pro Freezes After A Long Charge

While some users report that performing a factory reset helps the iPad Pro to revive in its original state, another way to wake your device from frozen condition is to apply a cold reset. This can be achieved by pressing and holding the sleep/wake button along with the Home button. Simultaneously press the aforesaid keys for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears. This will revive your iPad Pro from an unresponsive position to its normal state.

One of the iPad Pro users ”darkfire.shadows” told his story in Apple Support Communities in the following words:
At night it was down to 40% so I charged it and went to bed. When I woke up it was “dead”. It wouldn’t wake up. I needed to perform a hard reset to get it to come to life. Worked on it for a couple of hours and had to run an errand. Plugged it back in as I was going to need a full charge later that day. Came back to it, same thing. Dead.
The issue is not dependent on a single, specific variant of the iPad Pro, instead both 32GB and 128GB devices have been a victim to this problem. This also includes the LTE and Wi-Fi variants in the category. Yet, it is not clearly identified whether the problem persists due to hardware malfunctioning or is it a software related issue. Some users on the other hand claim that the issue is caused by iCloud backup during setup.
Probably soon, Apple will address the issue with a possible solution. As for now, this is it, folks. Do you own an iPad Pro? Let us know in the comments if it is causing the same issues.

This Is The Amount Of Force Required To Break An Apple Pencil While Charging – Video

The iPad Pro is Apple’s biggest iPad yet which comes packed with powerful internals and a gigantic 12.9-inch display. The iPad Pro is definitely a neatly designed media consumption tablet which can also handle any major task that you throw at it. Apple Pencil – an accessory designed for artists and designers is an impressive tool that allows users to accomplice tasks which are not possible with finger touch controls.

One of the beneficial features of the Apple Pencil is its ability to charge from the iPad Pro itself. It charges with an impressive rate of 15 seconds per 30 minutes of use. However, the position it charges is a risky one to get snapped. So we ask – how much force is it required to break an Apple Pencil while it’s charging? A YouTuber, Zach Straley conducted a stress test that allows users to judge the amount of stress required to snap the Apple Pencil.
Let’s dive in to see the stress test and how much force did the Apple Pencil bear before it finally gave in.
Apple Pencil Has A Hinge Element At The End

The Apple Pencil costs $99 which only works with the iPad Pro. It has a cap at the end to veil the lightning plug located at the very end of the Apple Pencil. Moreover, the iPad Pro can be used to annotate documents with beautifully designed graphs. It also features compatibility with a lot of editing apps present on iOS. To see if Apple’s accessory for the iPad Pro breaks while its on charging, check out the video below.

As you can see, the Apple Pencil held strong against solid jerking and bending. Zach applied abundant pushes oriented in all four directions. For what it seems, the lightning plug at the end of the Apple Pencil has a hinge built-in by Apple. This gives the accessory the advantage of bearing the stress applied, without causing any major damage. The hinge element added at the rear of the lightning plug, provides enough suspension to make it through the jerk.
However, the amount of pressure or force being applied is more than enough that an average user would apply, considering it’s by accident of of course! At the end of the video, you must have seen that the Apple Pencil is difficult to break as well. Apple has sorted out possible solutions to issues before their product reaches the market, giving us all a reason to admire Apple on the design.
How do you guys rank the Apple Pencil as a must have tool to go with the iPad Pro? Let us know in the comments below.

DisplayMate: iPad Pro display beats iPad Air 2's, but mini 4 is still king

Much like it has done with tablet displays in the past, DisplayMate has put the iPad Pro's enormous 12.9" screen through the wringer to test its brightness, reflectivity, and color accuracy. While the screen in Apple's biggest tablet fares a bit better than that of the iPad Air 2, the iPad Pro doesn't oust the iPad mini 4 as the tablet with the best display.
The iPad Pro display's 2732 x 2048 resolution works out to the same 264 PPI as the iPad Air 2's. DisplayMate's testing found the screen to be "perfectly sharp" when viewed at a distance of 13 inches or more. The off-angle screen brightness is similar across displays, too. DisplayMate says brightness reductions at steep viewing angles are a problem for LCDs in general, and the iPads all lose more than 50% brightness when viewed off-angle.
That's where the similarities between the two big tablets end, though. DisplayMate found its iPad Pro sample to have more consistent color accuracy than the iPad Air 2 using a Just Noticeable Color Difference (JNCD) scale, where lower numbers represent more accurate results. While the Air 2 scored an average JNCD of 3.9, the iPad Pro scored 2.6. The iPad mini 4 beat them both with its 1.9 JNCD score.
The iPad Pro reproduces 105% of the sRGB color gamut, just short of the 107% reproduction on the iPad Air 2. DisplayMate's results found the white points on all of the displays to be slightly too blue, but the Pro's screen was calibrated more accurately than that of the Air 2. The iPad Pro and iPad mini 4 both have white points calibrated to around 7,100 K, while the older Air 2's screen is set to 7,350 K.
All of the tablets scored well when viewed in direct light. DisplayMate found the iPad mini 4 is still the best at minimizing reflections, bouncing only 2% of the light that hits its glass back at the user. The iPad Air 2 reflected 2.5% of the ambient light, and the iPad Pro reflected 2.6%. Because of its extra size, the iPad Pro needs more power to light up its display, though. According to DisplayMate, it takes 7 watts to keep the screen lit at maximum brightness, compared to 5.1 watts for the iPad Air 2 and just 3.1 watts for the mini 4.
