Halo 5: Guardians Beta – Amazing Video of Gameplay

The upcoming first person shooter game Halo 5: Guardians released it first beta gameplay video to Xbox owners and it shows stunningly stable gameplay to boot. The ‘343 Industries’ team after getting done with Halo: The Master Chef collection have turned towards the sequel to the game Halo 5: Guardians which is easily on of the most anticipated titles at E3 2015. The Xbox exclusive game has earlier been reported to run at 60 frames per second on 720p on its native platform. The game for the very first time, will also feature a ‘Spectator Mode’.

The Beta Mode Appears Surprisingly Stable

The beta mode of the game will run for three weeks, available only to those who will buy a copy of Halo: The Master Chief Collection. The beta version of Halo 5: Guardians includes three game modes with 4v4 battles and a total of seven, arena-based maps. Last month, Josh Holmes, studio head for the game, said that the focus for now is totally on the beta version of the game where they look to stablise the game at 720p and 60 fps:
“For the beta, at this point we’re totally focused on gameplay.”
“We’re midway through development. We’re balancing and tuning the gameplay systems. All of the polish and optimisation graphically is stuff that typically comes towards the end of the production cycle.

“So, for the beta, we’re going to be coming out at 720p and 60fps. That’s not the final resolution for the game. You can imagine as we go through the remainder of the project we’ll be focused on polishing the visual look of the game. You can expect it will look amazing when it comes out.”
And amazing it looks, In a video reported by Dual Shockers, the game displays some very eye catching graphics and the game is very stable, more than ones released recently.

Halo 5 Coming to PC Seems Very Possible

Halo 5 is currently running a limited Beta on Xbox One and from what little I’ve had chance to play, it’s shaping up to be a great competitive shooter, but one thing caught my attention and it looks like I’m not the only one. Above we have a screenshot courtesy of DSOGaming from the game that shows some interesting information, “may be available later on other platforms”.
It’s no secret that Microsoft is pushing hard to make Windows a gaming platform again with Windows 10. The new DirectX 12 API is just around the corner, set to launch with the new OS and it’ll even make its way to Windows 8. The new Xbox Live dashboard app is in the latest Windows 10 preview and it wouldn’t be the first time Microsoft pushed Halo onto a new OS, just look at Windows Vista and Halo 2.
This is of course a rumour or at least a rumour based on real world information that may or may not be correct. PC gaming is booming and Microsoft are currently way behind the pack. So long as they don’t give us another GFWL fiasco, I’m happy.

Halo 5: Guardians beta launches today

Those of you that own an Xbox One along with a copy of the Halo Master Chief Collection will be able to check out the Halo 5: Guardians multiplayer beta test later today. This test will last three weeks and is there to help 343 Industries to tweak gameplay based on feedback.
This long test will also help stress test the servers early on. The servers will go live at 9am Pacific Standard Time in the US and 5PM GMT here in the UK, according to a tweet made by the official Halo Twitter account.

Early gameplay footage from early press demos show off a few of the changes made to the Halo formula. Mobility will be a big factor, with unlimited sprint along with the ability to climb on objects and slide.

Halo 5: Guardians multiplayer beta begins alongside pre-order details

As seen on the official Halo Twitter account, Halo 5's multiplayer beta has been opened up to the public, ending on the 18th of January 2015.

Anyone who has purchased the Halo: The Master Chief Collection automatically should have access to this beta, with the full game set for launch this fall and exclusive to the next-gen Xbox One console.

This sequel is said to continue the story of Master Chief and introduce Spartan Locke, a brand new addition to the series. Once again you'll be fighting against peace-shattering invader aliens, seeing Spartan Locke on a mission to find the somewhat-elusive Master Chief alongside solving a complicated mystery that threatens the entire galaxy.

According to developer 343 industries, Halo will be around for 30 more years, so here's hoping this latest release is a massive success to help boost the franchise.

    Halo 5: Guardians – Live-Action Image Leaked

Apart from the multiplayer beta, nothing has been shown so far of Halo 5: Guardians. Today an image has been leaked from the live-action trailer. The image itself, found via Imgur, shows the Master Chief collapsed on a pile of rubble, with a soldier, probably Spartan Locke standing in front of him.

“War breaks out when colony worlds are unexpectedly attacked. Master Chief Petty Officer John-117 goes missing, and Spartan Locke is tasked with hunting down the Master Chief and solving a mystery that threatens the entire galaxy.”
Can’t help but feel excited for any new information on Halo 5: Guardians

It’s impossible not to get excited with every little tidbit of information about Halo 5: Guardians. It’s without question the Xbox One’s most important title, and a sure system seller for Microsoft’s console. 343 Industries have proven themselves to be more than capable of delivering an excellent Halo experience, worthy of Bungie’s pedigree, and Microsoft is surely pulling all the stops to make Halo 5: Guardians one of the best experiences on the Xbox One console.
With GDC just around the corner, at the beginning of next month, there is a large possibility that Microsoft might show the live-action trailer as part of their DirectX 12 presentation and its implementation on the Xbox One platform. It would make sense that they would save the first gameplay footage for E3 later this year. Although with DirectX 12 being demoed at GDC anything is possible.
Halo 5: Guardians is stated for a Fall 2015 release. We will bring more information as soon as we get it.

Halo 5: Guardians Is Gonna Be Huge And Super-Innovative

Xbox Global Director of Games Marketing, Aaron Greenberg, had a lot to say for the company’s Holiday season offerings during an interview on The Inner Circle Podcast. Starting he teased different custom consoles and even though nothing specific was announced, something is certainly coming.

    Cool Custom Consoles Inbound

“We have a great team that does a lot of cool custom consoles, and we’d love to make them for every title, and the challenge is that our retail partners can’t take every one, we can’t manufacture twelve different versions, so we have to kind of pick our bets.”
“But I know some of the things we’re planning for this Holidays, and I think you’ll be pretty pleased with some of the limited edition plans, and there’s some other things that we’re still finalizing. But we have a lot of great games, and so I’m excited to see where we land. At this point, it’s February, so we’re not announcing our limited edition hardware at this point, but the teams are gonna have some good stuff, and it’s good to hear there’s an appetite for more.”
Halo 5: Guardians is going to be huge, super-innovative and the game the developers’ dreamed of making,

He continued to talk a bit about Halo 5: Guardians, and how it is the game that 343 Industries has dreamed of making.
“Halo 5 is gonna be huge. It should be one of the biggest entertainment releases of the year if we do our job right. I think what we’ve got with Master Chief and Locke is a marketer’s dream. The game is just super-innovative. I think this is a title that 343 has dreamed of making, and they’re innovating in ways that our jaws are dropping.
So we wanna be able to step up and deliver the type of products quality and marketing to match the quality of the game. That’s a challenge on us. But we have no doubt that the product they’re making is gonna be pretty amazing.
He concludes by emphasizing the depth of the Halo 5: Guardians’ story, and how it feels like being part of a movie.
It’s such a deep story. To me it’s like the closest thing to playing in a real movie, you know. I love campaign. I play multiplayer and I enjoy it, but I just love to get deep in the campaign and co-op you know, and Halo was kind of the birth of that, and also at the same time has innovated the multiplayer, so I’m excited with what they’re doing with Halo 5, and we’ll be revealing more soon.”

It’s really exciting knowing that Halo 5: Guardians is shaping to be such a potentially big game. The Halo franchise has always emphasized story telling and successfully provided an immensely interesting space opera backdrop, to progress its campaign, and this time it seems that we might get the best one yet. Innovations in the FPS genre have not been many during the last few years, so it would be very interesting too see what they have in store.
With GDC coming early next month, there could be some teases from Microsoft, although Halo 5: Guardians related information might not be one of them. It will certainly though have a strong appearance at this year’s E3 event this summer. Halo 5: Guardians is stated for a Holiday 2015 release exclusively for the Xbox One platform. We will bring you any new information as it becomes available. Abit more on Halo 5: Guardians can be found here.

´Microsoft announces Halo 5 launch date

Microsoft has announced that Halo 5: Guardians, the latest title in the long-running super-soldier sci-fi franchise, will launch exclusively on the Xbox One on the 27th of October.

Halo began as a follow-up to Bungie's first-person shooter Marathon, and was announced back in 1999 as a joint Windows and Macintosh release. Microsoft, however, had different ideas: in June 2000 the company announced it had acquired Bungie lock, stock and barrel, and that Halo would be exclusively available on the company's new Xbox console. The deal would prove lucrative for Microsoft, driving sales of the console and resulting in the launch of one of gaming's most successful franchises. In 2007, however, Bungie would split from Microsoft and become a private company once again and in 2010 it signed a ten-year deal with Activision Blizzard for its future IP.

Under the company's deal with Microsoft, Bungie had to relinquish rights to the Halo franchise it had created - although, as its console release Destiny would demonstrate, it retains the ability to create lofty sci-fi first-person shooters with armour-clad protagonists - with Microsoft Studios subsidiary 343 Industries taking over. Halo 4, 343 Industries' first full release in the franchise, was critically well-received and suggested that the series was in safe hands - a hope that will be tested with the release of Halo 5, its first proper next-generation Halo title.

In a trailer released late last night to North American audiences, Microsoft has confirmed that Halo 5: Guardians will launch on the Xbox one on the 27th of October. Sadly, the company has not revealed any gameplay footage; instead, the trailer takes the form of live-action footage set in the Halo universe and teasing various plot point for the new game.

Halo 5 will launch as an Xbox One exclusive, and if that hasn't put you off the trailer can be viewed in full below.

Halo 5: Guardians To Deliver on The Promise of The Halo Universe

343 Industries and Microsoft have released two new live action trailers for Halo 5: Guardians, last night, and announced an October 27 release for the title. 343 Industries studio head Bonnie Ross, has released a statement revealing some more details on the hugely anticipated title.

Ross explains that they wanted Halo 5 to deliver on the promise of the Halo universe, while creating a sense of amazement by the size of the worlds and battles, as well as reevaluate the whole lore of the franchise.
“We wanted Halo 5: Guardians to be the game that pays off the epic promise of the Halo universe in scope and scale and drama,”
“We want to amaze players with the sheer size of the worlds and battles they’ll experience, even as they question everything they thought they knew about its heroes, marvels, and mysteries.”
The Hunt the Truth segment is “only the beginning” for the Halo 5 marketing campaign. She then promised more details about Halo 5 during E3 2015, in June.
The two ads that can be viewed below, are indicative of the premise of Halo 5: Guardians. There is a lot of emphasis on a powerful dynamic between the two characters.

Halo 5: Guardians is one of the year’s biggest games, and the Xbox One’s biggest exclusive in 2015. 343 Industries studio head Bonnie Ross, has released a statement revealing some more details on the hugely anticipated title.

As Bonnie Ross mentioned, this is only the beginning of the marketing campaign for Halo 5: Guardians, and more will be revealed, leading up to E3 in June where 343 Industries and Microsoft will demonstrate the game with most likely a gameplay trailer. As has been already mentioned, Halo 5 will be a “hugely innovative title”, and judging from the live action trailers, this might actually be true. It could feature an extremely powerful relationship between Master Chief and Spartan Locke, with a great focus on the different shades of perception governing the two protagonists.
Halo 5: Guardians is being released on October 27 2015 for the Xbox One. We will bring you any new information as soon as it becomes available. Be sure to check our previous coverage for more information here and here.

Coming soon: Halo 5 Guardians Xbox One limited edition model

Halo 5: Guardians won't be available until this fall, but it looks like Microsoft Xbox One gamers can be excited about the possibility of picking up a limited edition Guardians Xbox One console.

"There is a limited edition console coming, yes. It hasn't been revealed yet, but it's pretty sweet," said Josh Holmes, studio head for Halo 5: Guardians, in a tweet posted yesterday (which has been deleted).

Details giving us additional information about single player, vehicles, weapons, and other game details remain unknown. However, Microsoft is enjoying the hype surrounding Halo 5, and while the company put together an Xbox One bundle for its Halo: The Master Chief Collection, nothing has been confirmed about a Guardians bundle just yet. Expect the title to receive attention during E3 2015 from Los Angeles in June.

Halo 5: Guardians – 343 Studio Head Talks About Matchmaking And Playlists

E3 2015 is just around the corner and many fans are eager to see more of Halo 5: Guardians. Rumors have been floating around that a campaign mode will be playable at the event, but no confirmation has been given.

343 Industries studio head Josh Holmes, has confirmed that Halo 5 will be using dedicated servers for its MP modes. Holmes talks about Halo 5’s matchmaking system over at Teambeyond forums, and shares some information regarding the playlists.
In reply to a post on the removal of shield/shields in the game, Holmes explains that Halo is about ‘the dance’ or taking on the duel:
For me, this erodes what is the essence of Halo: the dance or the duel. A big part of what makes Halo multiplayer special is the fact that, unlike other shooters, you can react to an enemy’s attack and turn the tables using superior skill. Unless the aggressor has a power weapon or manages to catch their prey well out of position, getting the drop on their opponent doesn’t guarantee a kill. Heightened lethality would turn the game into “flashlight tag,” flattening the encounters between players and making the game feel chaotic given the speed and capability of Spartans on the field. This would be even more pronounced w/ the new Spartan Abilities in Halo 5. It would also slow the game considerably at higher skill levels as players resort to peek shooting and turtling up in cover.
As a special game mode like SWAT or Breakout, greater lethality can be fun, but it doesn’t make sense for the core Halo multiplayer experience. For Breakout, the greater lethality serves two purposes: speeding up resolution of rounds and allowing for individuals to outplay the opposing team in situations where they are outnumbered. Coming out of beta, we’ve been focused on motivating more map movement in Breakout by experimenting w/ placement of weapons, power-ups and objective. We don’t want Breakout matches to devolve into constant camp-fests.
He continues regarding playlists and matchmaking in Halo 5:
Without talking specifics, the general approach is to support CSR throughout the Arena experience (players can choose whether or not they care about CSR as a goal) and to deliver a focused set of Matchmaking playlists at launch. There will be a combination of new and returning game types at launch but don’t expect every esoteric game type to be there. The focused approach means that we are building a core set of game types and polishing them to be great. We also have the most substantial post-launch support plans of any Halo title, which I will be talking about in more detail at E3 and beyond. We will continue to evolve the experience post-launch, delivering new content and experiences. I’m very passionate about supporting the game and using input from the community to help guide changes that we make. I see the HCFP being an important input into this process.
Holmes reveals a few more details and promises more info on playlists to be revealed closer to launch:
This is one of the biggest challenges as a developer, really. Every player is going to have a different set of experiences they love and care about from past Halos. In aggregate, that list is unmanageably large. Not just from the perspective of building them all for each game (since everything needs to be rebuilt, retuned and rebalanced for a new engine), but simply the overload of information (too many choices) and population density (not enough players in the smaller playlists to support quality play). That’s why you see rotation of content in matchmaking and why we are focusing on a polished core set of game types for Halo 5. I would rather deliver a core set of experiences at launch that are truly awesome than a vast grab bag of experiences that feel half baked. They key of course is to make sure that we have the right core set. We’ll be sharing more details about this closer to launch.

In closing Holmes talks about the possibility of a community playlist created by the community and curated by 343:
This is certainly possible. We’ve also talked about the potential for a community playlist that would feature cool stuff created by the community as curated by 343. We haven’t locked final plans for playlists though.

Halo 5: Guardians will surely have a strong presence at E3 2015 as it has already been confirmed by Xbox boss Phil Spencer. Microsoft promises that E3 will give players the chance “see the greatest games lineup in Xbox history”.
Microsoft is expected to show off Halo 5: Guardians, Forza Motorsport 6, Rise of the Tomb Raider and Gears of War, and reveal unannounced titles “coming in 2015 and beyond”. One or more titles from Rare are also expected, as well as a reveal of the new Crackdown title.
Microsoft’s E3 press conference gets underway at 5:30pm on June 15, with the show beginning one day later on June 16.
Halo 5: Guardians is being released on October 27 2015 for the Xbox One. We will bring you any new information as soon as it becomes available. Be sure to check our previous coverage for more information here and here.
