    BenQ RL2755hm Review

Plenty of monitors are designed for gaming, few are done so with the console in mind. The focus of todays content is though, this is our BenQ RL2755hm Review.
BenQ RL2755hm Review – Packaging and Bundle

BenQ package the RL2755hm in a fairly slimline box and inside the screen is wrapped in a foam bag and surrounded by polystyrene. Bundled with it we get a power cable, audio cable (3.5mm connectors) and HDMI cable. This is of course in addition to the product disc and documentation. Also present is the stand which arrives in two parts which we assemble and then screw on to the monitor. This stand allows us to tilt the display forward and backwards but not twist from side to side or change orientation. It also has a rubber edge which will assist in holding controllers in place if we set them down on this.

    BenQ RL2755hm Review – The RL2755hm

Galaxy simulation dataset system runs 7680x4320, or 8K at 60FPS

Researchers have used custom built PCs to display a galaxy simulation dataset at 7680x4320, or 8K. This mammoth display set up was pushing out 128 million particles across the 16 displays.

As for the PCs, they were running an Intel Core i7-980X, ASUS P6T motherboard, 6GB of Corsair Dominator GT 2000MHz DDR3 RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480 video cards, and 1 and 10GbE network connectivity. The team used 55-inch digital signage (1080p displays) with 7mm combined bezel. When it comes to software, the researchers use cgIX that "synchronizes the user input and drawing loop across all of the machines. On top of that is a custom application I developed that does out-of-core particle and volume rendering". Multiple computers are driving the 16 displays, where at any given time there were 4, 8 or 16 computers driving the displays.

What was the insane 8K set up of displays used for? The researcher explained on Reddit: "To support high-resolution visualization of large-scale particle datasets. Specifically, enabling the human visualization system to continue be used as an interrogation tool as the size of simulation datasets grows. Without these types of high resolution displays, it would become impractical to actually look at datasets that grow beyond the giga-scale because you simply couldn't get anything rendered on a single display screen that captures both detail and scale".

ASUS Designo MX27AQ WQHD Monitor Review

Today we look at the new ASUS MX27AQ – a 27 inch WQHD (2560×1440) LCD monitor. This AH-IPS panel delivers a reported 100% sRGB colour space and a 178 degree viewing angle. ASUS focus on the audio side too, with stereo speakers powered by a combination of ICEpower, a Bang & Olufsen technology, a MobileSound 3 chip and ASUS SonicMaster tuning. ASUS have incorporated their AudioWizard into the monitor itself, with four pre set modes available via an on screen menu.

The ASUS Designo MX27AQ is certainly a great looking monitor. We particularly like the ultra slim profile that measures just 1.25cm at the thinnest point with an edge to edge frame-less panel bezel thickness of only 0.1cm. Asus rate the ‘Smart Contrast Ratio’ at a whopping 100,000,000:1 and the response time, 5ms (Gray to Gray). ASUS Designo MX27AQ Features:

    • 27-inch In-Plane Switching specification LCD panel
    • WQHD (2560×1440) resolution @ 60Hz
    • B&O ICEpower stereo speakers
    • ASUS SonicMaster and AudioWizard EQ technologies built into the monitor
    • Frameless monitor and bespoke design
    • 1x DP 1.2, 1x HDMI 1.4/MHL 2.0 combination port, 2x HDMI 1.4

Samsung releases the 27" S27E510C, is has a subtle curve design. The panel technology is listed as MVA, a modern generation of VA technology.

There is also a 4ms G2G response time, 60Hz refresh rate, 3000:1 static contrast ratio (a strength of VA panels), 250 cd/m2 brightness and 178/178 viewing angles. It uses a W-LED backlight and offers a standard gamut with a 16.7m colour depth provided by the panel also.

Lenovo Refreshes ThinkVision T Series Monitors With Several New And Refined Models

Lenovo on Tuesday announced a new generation of ThinkVision T Series monitors that feature the latest green certificates and a more refined design than what you might be used. Part of that entails new thinner profiles and an ergonomic stand that supports lift, tilt, and pivot adjustments, along with the ability to swivel into portrait mode, an oft-overlooked feature even among professional panels.

While on the topic of physical design, the refreshed monitors sport an equal bezel width on all sides, as Lenovo wanted to ensure a seamless flow for those who choose to configure a multi-monitor setup of two or more panels. Of course, it's not all about the looks, features and functionality (and display performance) are equally important.

Five of the new models -- T2424p, T2324p, T2224p, T2454p, and T2224z -- boast In-Plane Switching (IPS) panels for improved color fidelity, generous 178 degrees horizontal and vertical viewing angles, and Full HD 1080p (1920x1080) resolutions. Each of the four models also feature USB 3.0 ports, and both HDMI 1.4 and DisplayPort 1.2 outputs.

The remaining model -- T2254p -- is the only one to use a Twisted Nematic (TN) panel. As such, it's viewing angles aren't quite as generous (170/160 degrees) and it has a lower resolution (1680x1050; 16:10 aspect ratio). However, the 22-inch monitor has a fast 5ms response time, whereas all the others are rated at 7ms.

In addition to half a dozen new monitors, Lenovo also announced its ThinkCentre Tiny Clamp mounting kit. This cleverly designed $30 accessory attaches to any of the aforementioned monitors' stands without any tools -- it just clamps into place. You can then attach a ThinkCentre Tiny PC to the clamp for a home brewed all-in-one solution. It's available now.

As for the monitors, the 21.5 inch ThinkVision T2224p and T2224z models will be available April 1 for $269 and $289, respectively; the 23.8-inch T2424p will be available March 15 for $219; the 23-inch T2324p and 24-inch T2454p will ship on March 21 for $299 and $449, respectively; and the 22-inch T2254p will be available on March 25 for $279.

Philips Claims 'World's First' With New 2-in-1 IPS Monitor Setup

Looking to expand your desktop environment but don't want to spend a lot of money on two separate monitors? Maybe you want something compact and sharp to save desktop space and make you more productive. You're in luck, as Philips Monitors just launched its Two-in-One Monitor. The Two-In-One IPS Monitor is still somewhat pricey at $499 (Newegg lists it for $417.99), but you get two screens measuring 19 inches each that can be rotated to create one 32 inch display. The 3.5 mm border provides a near-seamless environment so you can focus on what's on the combined screens rather than the border cutting the environment down the middle.
Additionally, the screens on the Two-In-One Monitor can be turned forwards and backwards up to 22.5 degrees, allowing the user to maximize the viewing area. Their height can also be adjusted by up to 100 mm.
Each LED-lit screen has a 1280 x 1024 resolution, a 5 ms response time, a contrast ratio of 20,000,000:1 and a brightness of 250 cd/m2. There's also one DisplayPort and one VGA input on the first monitor and one VGA input and one MHL-capable HDMI input on the second panel. Two USB 2.0 ports are provided on both panels.
Not familiar with MHL? The term stands for Mobile High-Definition Link, and it allows a mobile device to receive a charge from another MHL-compliant device like an HDTV, when connected. Unlike HDMI cables that only serve up audio and video, MHL cables and ports support a third power line. Plugging a mobile device into an electrical socket on a wall is not needed when an MHL link is established.
"Ideal for designers using 3D graphics or requiring extremely detailed information for CAD-CAM solutions, the connected screens allow for more space to create and use multiple design tools," stated the company's press release. "Plus gamers can immerse themselves in the action with duel-screen comparisons, perfect for two players on one screen."
This two-in-one setup sounds like a cool deal, although the resolution in each is rather lackluster. Again, if you're looking to expand your desktop, give Philips Monitors' new double-screen solution a gander. At around $250 per screen (or less, depending on where you make a purchase), this solution seems a little pricey, but could be worth the money. What do you think?

Acer rolls out slim bezel 25-inch WQHD monitor

    Pretty good spec too
Attention bezelphobes everywhere – Acer has a swanky 25-inch monitor with some of the tiniest bezels in the industry.

The company is marketing the H257HU as a “zero frame” display, but so far it seems to be rolling out only in the US market. As you can see, it’s not exactly bezel-free, but it’s not bad for this particular market segment.
Aside from the very thin frame, the monitor packs a pretty serious spec – it’s based on a 25-inch 2560x1440 IPS panel, with 100% sRGB gamut and a 6-axis colour adjustment system, but it's still an 8-bit panel limited to 16.7m colours. The panel can deliver 350 nits of brightness and a contrast of 1,000,000,000:1. The response time is 4ms, which should make it suitable for gamers, too.
Speaking of which, there is no word on any sort of sync technology under the bonnet. As far as inputs go, as long as you don’t have a 15-year-old VGA card, you should be good – the monitor has DVI, HDMI, DP and mini DP inputs. It also has a pair of DTS speakers.
The Acer H257HU is priced at $369, which sounds a bit steep given the spec, but you always have to pay a small premium for style.

LG adds a slightly smaller 29 Inch Ultra-wide 29UC97 Curved model to their lineup. The new ultra-wide 21:9 aspect ratio model is 29" in size and has a smaller 2560 x 1080 resolution.
The screen AH-IPS panel offers a 5ms G2G response time, 1000:1 contrast ratio, 300 cd/m2 brightness, 178/178 viewing angles, 60Hz refresh rate and 16.7m colour depth.

The monitor uses a flicker free W-LED backlight and offers an sRGB colour gamut (100% coverage quoted). The monitor also comes factory and can be hardware-calibrated using a compatible colorimeter. There are DisplayPort 1.2, 2x HDMI 1.4, 2x ThunderBolt and 2x USB 3.0 ports provided on the display. There are also 2x 7W Maxx audio stereo speakers and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

There is no word just yet on price or availability.
