Final Fantasy XV Taipei Game Show 2016 Stage Event Will Be Different From Next Active Time Report

A few days ago all the details on the Sony’s Taipei Game Show 2016 stage schedule have emerged online, revealing that both Final Fantasy XV and World of Final Fantasy will be getting dedicated stage events on January 31st. With a new Active Time Report also confirmed for this month, many thought that the Final Fantasy XV was actually going to be the new ATR, but it looks like this won’t be the case.

Earlier today the official Final Fantasy XV Twitter profile confirmed that the Final Fantasy XV Taipei Game Show 2016 stage event and the next Active Time Report will not be the same, so we will most likely receive more details than anticipated. The next Active Time Report has been confirmed for this month, so it’s quite likely it will be aired before the Final Fantasy XV stage event is held.

Last week some new details on Final Fantasy XV have emerged on the game’s official forums. Members of the development team have taken the time to answer some questions from fans, confirming that Final Fantasy XV will not sport a traditional difficulty levels system but another one which allows players to change between different battle modes so that players can choose to enjoy faster, slower or more technical battles. Last week, it’s also been confirmed that Final Fantasy XV will feature exciting aerial battles with flying foes and gigantic boss enemies and more.
Final Fantasy XV will be released this year on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. More on the highly anticipated role playing game from Square Enix will be coming later this month thanks to the Taipei Game Show 2016 stage event and the next Active Time Report so stay tuned for all the latest news.

Final Fantasy XV New Scan Showcases Magitek Armor, Fire Magic And More

Magic is one of the more important elements of the Final Fantasy series and so Final Fantasy XV will also feature a unique magic system. Not much has been said on the matter in the past, but something new on it has emerged online earlier today thanks to the latest issue of Japanese magazine Shonen Jump.

This week’s issue of the magazine comes with a few new Final Fantasy XV screenshots showcasing a battle against a Magitek Armor. One of the screenshots also shows that magic in Final Fantasy XV will affect the environment, with Fire magic setting grass on fire at once. Both enemies and allies can be damaged by similar events. One of the screenshots also shows how Noctis can mount monsters, an action that decreases the enemy’s physical strength. You can check out the new magazine scan right below.

More Final Fantasy XV news will be coming later this month, with a new Active Time Report getting aired before the end of January and a dedicated Taipei Game Show 2016 stage event. Earlier this week, it’s been confirmed that the two events won’t be the same so we will most likely learn even more than anticipated about the upcoming role playing game by Square Enix.
Other interesting Final Fantasy XV details have emerged online earlier this month on the game’s official forums. Members of the development team have shared more on the game’s Warp Points, big cities and new difficulty system.
Final Fantasy XV will be released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on a yet to be confirmed 2016 release date. More on the role playing game by Square Enix will be coming before the end of the month so stay tuned for all the latest news.

Noctis gets fired up in these new Final Fantasy XV screenshots

The long-awaited Final Fantasy XV is finally set to get a release date in a few months, and Square Enix is whetting our appetites with a few small snacks in screenshot form.

Square Enix's new batch of FFXV screenshots show off Noctis and company battling a variety of interesting baddies in open-world Lucis, and show off a glimpse at the devastating firaga spell. We also get a look at the most recently Active Cross Battle system display screen, which looks quite sleek and compact. Even still, I find the HUD lacking and too clean-cut, and it really doesn't remind me I'm playing a Final Fantasy game.

Apart from the new screens, the devs will be holding a brand new Active Time Report on Saturday,January 30 starting at 8:00PM PST on the Square Enix YouTube channel. The new show's theme will focus on magic, new battle system updates and footage, and the political strife between Lucis and the Niflgaard Empire.

As per usual, this week's ATR will by hosted by Square Enix greats Hajime Tabata and Akio Ofuji. We'll probably get a few awesome updates on the Luminous Engine and some snippets of character animations to boot--Square has shared a few interesting peeks on Prompto's animations, so we may see some more.

Final Fantasy XV is set to release this year across PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. A final release date will be unveiled sometime in March.

Final Fantasy 15 info blowout: combat, story, and release date info

Final Fantasy XV is looking outright incredible. Square Enix showcased a bunch of new content in its latest Active Time Report, including an interesting three-minute combat sequence, new story info, new details on magic, and confirmation that the game's release date will be revealed in March. We also have the final progress report for the game that details new changes and features.

The combat footage introduces a surprising mashup of Metal Gear Solid with modern Final Fantasy. Noctis and co. sneak into a nefarious Niflheim base, espionage style, and then go up against a hulking Magitek mech straight out of Kojima's imagination. We get to see how stealth will work in the game: users can warp from place to place without blowing their cover, and even stealthily warp-kill enemies.

The real fun happens once the all-out brawl begins, and once again we get a hefty glimpse at the svelte, almost beatific fluid grace of FF15's combat. We get to see Noctis perform some aerial warp combos that underline the potential and magic of the game's Active Cross Battle system. Gladius swipes his mighty blade to smash a whole line of soldiers, and the whole time the group works together in tandem with devastating results.

    Elemental Magic Affinities

Final Fantasy XV has two different types of magic: elemental magic and ring magic. Ring magic is exclusive to the bearer of the signet ring of Lucis and is locked behind story progression. Elemental magic, on the other hand, consists of three base types: Fire, Blizzard, and Thunder. These elemental affinities actually interact with the game's environments and weather effects, making them dynamic.

If you looked closely at the combat footage, you'd see that the Magitek mech Noctis took down had sprayed a ton of oil, which was then ignited by a Fire spell to burn nearby enemies. That's just an example of the chaos you can pull off with environmental combos.

The same logical effects are true for other situations; Thunder spells do more damage in the rain, Fire can actively burn and spread in grass (and oil), and using a Blizzard spell in a wet area has a chance of freezing and doing bonus damage to foes. To use elemental magic, you have to go around to different areas and gather specific energies--a bit like the draw system from FF8.

    The Niflheim Empire

We also get a closer look at the game's antagonists, the Niflheim Empire. Square Enix unveiled the fascist emperor Iedolas Aldercapt, who's a kind of puppet-dictator. Chancellor Ardyn Izunia holds the real power behind the fierce empire, and is using the power of the Magitek technology to take over the known world. General Glauca helms the empire's military muscle, and is a domineering foe to say the least. We'll probably fight him later in the storyline.

Next up we have the basic Magitek infantry, which are actually robots rather than humans. Square Enix revealed that most of the Niflheim Empire's military is made up of human-controlled robots infused with the Magitek energy-tech.

Last but certainly not least we have the mysterious Aranea Highwind. Final Fantasy fans will instantly recognize Aranea's dragoon armor, and those familiar with the FF Versus 13 project will remember her from old teasers. Aranea is the captain of the Third Army Corps 86th Airborne Unit, and has a penchant for aerial combat, and we see her clash with Noctis at the end of the combat trailer.

    Release Date Event

Square Enix has promised that Final Fantasy 15 will release in 2016, and they're making good on that promise. As with everything surrounding a major Final Fantasy release, the team is building up a mighty gala affair for its reveals, so FF15's release date reveal will have its own event called "Uncovered: Final Fantasy XV". The unveiling is set to take place on March 30th at 7:00 PM PST at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, and the event will be live streamed.

Be sure to check out the full Active Time Report below if you want even more Final Fantasy XV goodness!

Final Fantasy XV PC Version Mentioned In Uncovered FFXV Website Code

Final Fantasy XV is finally getting released this year on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in all regions and all details on the game’s launch will be revealed by a special event named Uncovered Final Fantasy XV which will be held in March. Details on the event are scarce at the moment, obviously, but it seems like a PC version of the game might be revealed during the event.

NeoGAF forum members KupoNut has recently taken a look at the code of the Uncovered Final Fantasy XV website, discovering mentions of a PC version. Not only the Steam Store is mentioned in the code, but also a possible retail version of the game.

Final Fantasy XV has been one of the many high profile games that has been shown last week during the Taipei Game Show 2016. New gameplay footage has also surfaced online following the latest Active Time Report event, showcasing a stealth gameplay sequence featuring plenty of battle system improvements over the Episode Duscae demo.
Two weeks ago other details on Final Fantasy XV have surfaced online thanks to Japanese magazine Shonen Jump. The magazine showed how magic can influence the environment, with Fire magic having the ability to burn grass and damage both enemies and party members. The magazine also revealed that Noctis can mount monsters to decrease their physical strength.
Final Fantasy XV will be released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on a yet to be confirmed 2016 release date. The playable demo Final Fantasy XV: Episode Duscae can be downloaded on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One only through a special code found in Final Fantasy Type-0 HD launch copies. More on the role playing game by Square Enix will be coming soon so stay tuned for all the latest news.

Final Fantasy XIV 'The Gears of Change' now available for download

Final Fantasy XIV's newest update 3.2, The Gears of Change, is now officially ready to be consumed by those that're romping around Hydaelyn.

The Gears of Change is a content update as much as it still continues to root out latent bugs that might plague the game, after all these years. Crucially, it adds new story quests, beast tribe quests and plenty of class adjustments to help better balance the game. There are 11 new quests in total, with 9 of them complete mysteries until you successfully complete the main scenario first. And they're adding in a lot more content than just that, too. New high-level dungeons, continued side-story quests from the Hildibrand Adventures and a new "Primal Battle" to challenge the highest levels of players.

This update also introduces options for new players to quickly acquaint themselves with the game with the Hall of the Novice. There, the novice can embark on specialized tutorial quests that ultimately help them to understand the techniques of playing in online groups. It's a way to ease non-MMO players into the particulars of the genre.

The patch is out and ready to be downloaded, provided you already have Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward installed. That's the only requirement.

Final Fantasy XV Release Date Reportedly Leaked – Set to Launch in September Before Other Triple A Games

After only a couple of weeks now, Final Fantasy XV will finally get an official release date during Square Enix’s “Uncovered : Final Fantasy XV” event that is scheduled to take place on March 30 in Los Angeles. But if you are one of those fans who can’t have a good night’s sleep not knowing when exactly the highly anticipated action role-playing game is coming out, today may very well be a good day for you, because release date for the next game in the long-running and one of the all-time best JRPG series has reportedly been outed ahead of time.

Final Fantasy XV Set to Launch on September 30 According to Reliable Sources

According to Gametsu, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players will finally be able to dive right into the massive open world of Final Fantasy XV as the game sees a worldwide release on September 30, just a few days into the fall season. This information was provided to the site by a reliable source, and was then “corroborated by three independent sources who would have knowledge of the matter,” reads the post. Gametsu is pretty sure this release date is accurate, but “given that within a company setting anything can change before it is made public,” they’re reporting this as a rumor.
Of course, nothing can be said about the legitimacy of this piece of information until the Japanese video game developer/publisher Square Enix itself officially announces the release date of the upcoming game during the “Uncovered: Final Fantasy XV” event, which will take place at the end of the month, and of course as the name implies, “will offer new information on the game as well as key surprises that speak to the full entertainment experience.” You can read find more about the event here.

Final Fantasy XV was originally announced as Final Fantasy Versus XIII around a decade ago in 2006. The game was aimed to be a PlayStation 3-exclusive before being rebranded as Final Fantasy XV and shifted from last-generation Sony hardware to current-gen PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles. The main story, world, and concept of the game remained the same before and after the transition, but the game itself has received many changes.

It has been previously rumored that Square Enix is aiming to launch the game in summer 2016. A September 30 release date means the game will go ahead of all the other big AAA games that come out in holiday season in October and November. So releasing a game in September is apparently a good move. Still, as mentioned before, we will only know for sure once Square Enix makes it official.

Final Fantasy 15's main story will be 50 hours long

Like its JRPG predecessors, Final Fantasy 15 will be a pretty meaty game with plenty of content to chew on.

In a recent livestream with Famitsu, Square Enix game director Hajime Tabata confirmed that Final Fantasy 15's main story will take about 50 hours to beat. This is up from the original 40-hour estimate, with Tabata citing that the final game has "more volume" than originally projected.

Tabata continues by saying Final Fantasy 15's frame rate hasn't been fully optimized just yet. The devs are targeting 30FPS for the final release, but the current build often breaks the 30FPS threshold. Square Enix expects to lock down the frame rate before the game goes gold, but if they're unable to hit a consistent 30FPS Tabata affirms the studio will "do something different".

Famitsu was able to squeeze a few more tidbits out of Tabata, which can be found below in a tidy list.

    • Cactaurs will make an appearance in FF15 (thank god!) as "very powerful foes" who can actually dodge Noctis' special Shift Break attacks
    • Tabata also teased that airships are still in, and they'll have a distinct visual style to match the game, saying that "this is the kind of Airship that should be in Final Fantasy XV"
    • We still don't know the game's final resolution--whether it's in full 1080p or 900p--but this will be revealed at next week's event
    • Square Enix wants to work with Sony to make special FF15-themed PS4 bundles
    • A playable FF15 tech demo will be hosted at the event
    • There will be plenty of surprises and new info shown off at the FF15 Uncovered event next week

Square Enix will debut Final Fantasy 15's official release date during its special Final Fantasy XV Uncovered event next week on March 31, along with tons of "special surprises".

We'll be sure to tune into the show and keep you updated on the latest news on this momentous new RPG, and I for one can't wait to hear more about the game.

Final Fantasy 15 is targeting 30FPS for a cinematic experience

Final Fantasy XV is a treat on the eyes, with the wildly stylized hair and well-designed backdrops. But being a graphical showcase of what Square Enix is capable of producing as the primary developer also means that it has the potential of running a bit slower. But considering the genre and the type of action on screen, the targeted framerate will be 30FPS, for that cinematic feel, and because it's probably all the consoles can manage at higher resolutions.

That's at least their objective. At the moment, the game sometimes dips below that target, but they believe that further optimizations can help keep things well within 30FPS with no trouble. It's possible, however, that they may not be able to hit that target enough of the time for it to be viable, in which they might have to do something else completely to satiate fans. The final resolution that it'll be running hasn't been revealed yet, but it's looking more likely that it won't be 1080P if they want to hit that 30FPS target.

The game engine they're using, the Luminous Studio engine, is a very capable and impressive piece of technology. It's been the underlying engine that underpinned the Witch Chapter 0 [cry] demo that was shown off at Microsoft BUILD last year, with four Titan X's rendering a scene filled with 8Kx8K textures and nearly 63 million polygons. One Titan X was only able to push it to 35.9FPS, so imagine how even a less potent version of the engine would fair on the hardware inside the Xbox One and the PS4. Even a mere 5 million polygons per frame is still impressive, and not easy to render considering the other effects that are put on top of that. It'll be interesting to see how well it runs when it's finally released. Of course we'll have a performance analysis as soon as is feasible on the PC.

Final Fantasy XV New Demo Revealed By Chinese Ad, May Release Later Today

In just a few hours, fans of the Final Fantasy series will finally learn when they will be able to enjoy the next entry of the series, Final Fantasy XV, during the Uncovered Final Fantasy XV event. More announcements are expected during the event, and one of them has already been revealed a few minutes ago thanks to a Chiense video.

According to the new video, Final Fantasy XV is going to get a new demo where players will get to enter the dream of Young Noctis. You can check out the ad right below.

While the new Final Fantasy XV demo is surely going to get detailed later today, it’s already been revealed that it will most likely be released shortly after the event, as it’s been spotted on the Chinese Xbox Store. The demo is going to be around 4.5 GB, according to the image circulating online.

Today’s Uncovered Final Fantasy XV event may also confirm the PC release of the game. Two months ago, a dedicated Final Fantasy fan has found mention of the Steam Store in the website’s source code, with the code also mentioning a possible PC retail release.
Final Fantasy XV has already received a playable demo, called Episode Duscae, but the demo wasn’t available for all, as it was only available to those who have purchased a launch copy of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD. The demo has also received a major update which introduced plenty of changes. Considering how much time has passed since the release of the Episode Duscae 2.0 update, we should expect the new demo to come with plenty of new features.

Final Fantasy XV PC Version Listed In GameStop Ad

A few hours ago, Square Enix has revealed all the latest details on Final Fantasy XV during the Uncovered Final Fantasy XV event. Unfortunately, the announcement that all PC fans of the series were expecting didn’t come, but it seems like there’s still hope for a Final Fantasy XV release on PC.

A new Final Fantasy XV ad that appears on the GameStop website is currently listing the game for a PC release, alongside the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One release. During yesterday’s event, a PC version hasn’t been ruled out completely, but if the new ad is showing correct info, Square Enix might have had some other reason to not announce the PC version during the Uncovered event. You can check out the ad in the image below, captured by NeoGAF user BernandoOne.

    Advertisements

The new mention of a Final Fantasy XV PC release isn’t the only one that has been spotted in recent times. Back in February, the source code for the Uncovered website included a mention of the Steam Store, as well as one of a possible retail release. With most Final Fantasy titles now available for purchase on Steam, there’s a very good chance that Final Fantasy XV will eventually be released on PC.
PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners can try out the new Platinum Demo, which has been made available shortly after the end of the Uncovered Final Fantasy XV event. The demo, which features a young Noctis, will not be part of the full game and it will allow players to unlock Carbuncle in the final release upon completion.

Noctis' car doubles as an airship in Final Fantasy 15

Every Final Fantasy game has to have an airship--it's a significant staple of the series that allows players to navigate the map. But Square Enix has something special in store for Final Fantasy 15 fans.

    via GIPHY

As it turns out, the airship in Final Fantasy 15 isn't really an airship--it's actually Noctis' car. That's right, Noctis' svelte black speedster transforms into a fully-functioning sky-flier right before our eyes. Although I'm a huge fan of those majestic floating skyships that Square Enix cooks up, I think this is absolutely awesome.

Game director Hajime Tabata said that once we saw the airship, we'd think "this is the kind of airship that should be in Final Fantasy 15". I have to agree with him on this one. Let's just hope Noctis' jet-car isn't just limited to low flying zones, and we can soar in the heavens above the clouds. Also, I hope that we can actually drive the car once it's airborne, as the in-game footage seemed to show driving as an on-rails experience.

Final Fantasy 15 is slated to release on September 30, 2016, and pre-orders for the collector's editions are now live. The game's main story is expected to last 50 hours, and Square Enix is targeting 30FPS for a cinematic experience.

Square Enix will be looking into bringing Final Fantasy XV to PC

Earlier this month, a few leaks pointed towards a release date for Final Fantasy XV and now following on from Square Enix’s event last night, we have confirmation that the game will finally be coming out on the 30th of September this year. However, once the Xbox One and PS4 versions of the game are out of the way, Square Enix will be looking into bringing the game to PC.
To top it off, Square Enix has released a new demo for the game, showing off new mechanics and locations as well as a new trailer. While the original Final Fantasy XV demo was known as ‘Episode Duscae’, this new demo is known as the ‘Platinum Demo’ and it contains a side story to the game, featuring a younger version of Noctis, the new main character. You can already download it on PSN and Xbox Live as long as the servers aren’t being overloaded by fans.

While there is no definitive word on the PC version of the game just yet, in an interview with Engadget Square Enix says that it will be investigating a PC version, which means we could potentially get it next year, before all focus shifts to the new Final Fantasy VII Remake. If you are interested in the game, then you can also see the new trailer titled ‘Reclaim your Throne’ above.

Final Fantasy 15 on PC won't happen until console ports release

Square Enix hasn't ruled out a PC release for Final Fantasy 15, and the publisher promises that it'll seriously evaluate the platform in due time--but not before the console ports release. So we could be waiting well into 2017 before FF15 makes the jump to PC.

Square Enix game director Hajime Tabata says that the studio is "aware of the big call for a PC version." but the PS4 and Xbox One flavors take priority. The studio is committed to optimizing the console versions ahead of Final Fantasy 15's September 30 release date.

"Unfortunately we weren't able to do simultaneous development on a PC and console version for XV," Tabata told Endgadget. "We had to focus on the console version, and our goal was to maximize, optimize everything for the HD consoles. Once that's done, then we will definitely take a good, hard look at PC and what we need to do, and consider all our options. But right now we aren't decided, we're still considering a lot of things."

Evidence of a PC port of the landmark action RPG has been mounting in the last few days, especially with a particular GameStop advertisement that outright listed PC as one of the game's platforms. I think it's only a matter of time before Square Enix pulls the trigger, but the studio has its hands full making Final Fantasy 15 run at 30FPS on consoles.

In other FF15 news, at the official Final Fantasy Uncovered event Square Enix unveiled a host of new spin-off content for the game including a feature-length CGI film called Kingsglaive, and a five-part anime series called Brotherhood. There's also a brand new FF15 Platinum Demo available on PS4 and Xbox One, but it's not very good. Even still you should give it a whirl

Final Fantasy XV must sell more than 10 million copies

Gaming might be the biggest media industry in the world right now, but that doesn’t mean all that extra revenue and investment can’t create headaches of its own. Games are often being made too big and too expensive to fail and Final Fantasy XV is a perfect example of that. With endless co-promotional materials, other media and tonnes of extras, it needs to shift over 10 million copies to be considered a success.
This is all because Square Enix has gone all out with the upcoming Final Fantasy title. Not only has it been in development for years and cost many millions of pounds in its own right, but when released, it’s going to launch alongside a feature length movie with well known actors like Lena Headey (Cercei Lannister), Aaron Paul, (Jesse Pinkman) and Sean Bean (every guy that eventually dies).

Sqaure has also created a companion five-part anime series explaining the characters’ back stories and hired on Florence and the Machine to record the game’s theme tune. It will produce a number of tie-in mobile games too and to really cap it all off, there’s a custom Final Fantasy XV Audi R8 being created.

All of that to help sell the game.

Admittedly the 10 million copies that director Hajime Tabata claims need to be sold to make it a success, is over the life of the product. So there are some years ahead where sales will still be counted, but as Kotaku points out, 10 million is more than any Final Fantasy game, save VII, has ever sold.
Final Fantasy XV launches on PS4 and Xbox One on 30th September. A PC version is currently being considered.

Hands On With Square Enix's 'Platinum Demo' For 'Final Fantasy XV'

Right after the "Uncovered: Final Fantasy XV"event finished last night, Square Enix released a free demo for the game, simply titled the Platinum Demo. Obviously, the demo didn’t take long to finish (it took me less than an hour), but it did provide an idea of the new gameplay elements featured in Final Fantasy XV.
    Quick Look

Unlike the Episode Duscae demo, which was packaged alongside Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, the Platinum Demo isn’t part of the Final Fantasy XV storyline. However, you still get to play as the upcoming game’s main character, Noctis, who’s currently stuck in this dream world. With the help of your Carbuncle creature companion, you have to find your way through this dream state and wake up.
If you’ve played any of the Kingdom Hearts games, you have an idea of how the gameplay mechanics work in the demo. You can run around in the environment and then press a single button to attack enemies, or hold that same button to initiate a string of attacks. You can also roll around to dodge attacks. Obviously, this is a departure from the usual Final Fantasy combat system, where you would initiate combat with an enemy and then the actual fight takes place in a separate location.
There are also crystals scattered throughout the game, which, if you collect enough of them, activate various plates throughout the demo. These plates allow you to manipulate the world around you by changing the weather, time of day or even turning you into a car or animal.
    A Long Dream

The worlds of the Final Fantasy series are always a sight to behold, and the legacy continues with this demo. Levels vary from a forested area to a large city square, and each area seems to be beautifully crafted along with various lighting and water effects. One level even had a series of wooden blocks that you could knock over to showcase various physics effects. For Square Enix, this isn’t just a gameplay demo; it’s a tech demo to give fans an idea of what to expect, visually, for the final game.
As you collect items, you can store up to four of them in active slots, so you can use quickly use them in combat. Aside from sword and hammer variants, you also have a variety of bombs to use against foes, such as a small burst of fireworks or a deadly shower of bright meteor strikes. The enemies were all low-level creatures, so defeating them wasn’t much of a challenge.
The main event, however, occurs near the end of the game with a boss fight--a large figure wielding an even larger sword. It’s during this conflict that Noctis' true powers come to life. Instead of a toy sword, squeaky hammer and small bombs at your disposal, you’ll be able to use his real arsenal: two swords (a broadsword and regular sword) and the ability to cast fire.
The fight is somewhat more difficult than previous encounters, but it’s exciting nonetheless. By unleashing a fury of attacks at the right time, as well as continuously dodging each devastating hit from the enemy, the entire battle looked like a well-choreographed fight scene. I was also able to try out Noctis’ Warp Strike ability, which allows him to use his main sword to warp away to various locations in the area. You can also use it to get a surprise attack on the enemy. By itself, the attack doesn’t deal too much damage, but you can combine it with multiple attacks to create combo moves for heavy amounts of damage. After a few minutes of varying moves and constantly using Warp Strike, I was victorious.
Most of my attacks against enemies were physical ones, along with the occasional use of a bomb or magic attack. As Final Fantasy XV is full of enemies of varying abilities and weaknesses, I’m quite interested to see how this fast-paced format will work when you have to strategize about how to attack each enemy on the field.
A Taste Of What’s To Come

As fun as it was to take down that final monster, part of me was saddened by the fact that I never played the Episode Duscae demo, which would enable me to use more of Noctis’ real powers. Sure, I could press a plate in the town square to start the battle again, but I wanted to try his abilities against varying types of enemies instead of the same foe over and over again.
Still, that doesn’t detract from the fact that the Platinum Demo was an enjoyable hour of gameplay. The controls were easy to understand, the combat system kept me on my toes, and each location was visually appealing.
The last Final Fantasy game I played (not counting Final Fantasy XIV) was Lighting Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, which was an excruciating experience due to its gameplay elements and time-based constraints. Based on what I played on the Platinum Demo, it seems that Square Enix learned many things to improve the series’ overall gameplay and visuals, which makes me all the more excited to play Final Fantasy XV.
