Google Play Services 7.3 Updates To Trusted Places UI And Dismissible Android Wear Notifications

Google Play Services have made a significant jump from 7.0 to 7.3 in the latest update, offering some pretty neat features and a refreshed user interface for trusted places. Even though there is a lot to talk about for the consumer, developers on the other hand are left with a minor changes in the API. The update has some overall upgrades while previous issues were cleared as soon as this update arrived.

Google services definitely needed an update for its current issues in the security section which was quite vulnerable. Though the trusted places’address on Home is working again, it seems that users are acquainted with a new and improved user interface as well. With this new UI, users can now set up safe zones with great ease, unless you already own one already. Other than this, the persistent Android Wear Notifications can now be dismissed. We know some users might find it very appealing.
Google+ Gets Material Design And Pull To Refresh – Download APK

As mentioned before, the update for Google Play Services can now be configured concerning Trusted Places with all thanks to the new UI. However, according to an update, some users already possessed the UI which might have been an outcome because of the server-side switch which might have been triggered on to this update.

A new maps widget is added which is very easy to manipulate and control. The maps have a string of blue dots that reflects a safe zone that has been selected by the user. You can now search for a specific location using coordinates unlike relying on street addresses alone. It does not solely mean that users can no longer search using street addresses, that option will always be available.

As far as Android Wear users are concerned, users mostly got persistent notifications when connected to a smart watch. This issue has also been fixed in the Google Play service update to version 7.3. The notifications have been appointed with a dismiss option so they don’t annoy you. Apart from this, this update also enables you to update your Google+ which gets Material Design features and a pull to refresh option.
You can download the update APK from this link. The APK is signed by Google itself so it will upgrade your existing application. You can also wait for this update if you wish to. the application is completely secure to download. As for now, let us know how you liked the update.

Here’s How To Download And Run Beats On Mac Or Windows

Apple’s had a special relationship with music. One of the first major products coming out of the company’s historic turnaround in the early 2000s was the iPod, which managed to significantly redefine the way we perceived music player. Apple looked to build on this transition with its acquisition of Beats music, and alongside Beats came its music app available for iOS, Android and Windows Phone users. Well, for those feeling left out of the loop, we have good news for you today. Users of Mac and Windows on PCs can also make use of the app, and we’ll be telling you how to do so after the break.

Install Beats Music On Your Mac And Windows Following These Steps

The steps to install Beats on your are fairly simple. First you’re going to need to download the app’s APK from Google’s Play Store for Android. Download Beats’ APK from the Play Store on your PC or Mac by installing APKDownloader first. After you’re done downloading the APK, you’re going to need to run it on Google’s Chrome browser, which you need to have on your Mac/PC for this to work. Download ARC Welder, and open it using Chrome’s App Launcher.
Once ARC Welder is up an running, it’ll ask you to select the APK for the Play Store app that you need to run on your computer. Simply select the Beats APK that you downloaded earlier and you’ll be good to go. Just a reminder though. If you want Beats to keep on running, then you;ll be needing to run Chrome in the background, with or without any tabs open in the browser. Simple enough. So give it a try and let us know what you think in the comments section. Beats app on PC or Notebook should be a experience worth anyone who loves their music’s while. Enjoy.

Outlook for Android Now Ready for the Real World

After releasing 17 updates since its original launch, the Microsoft application has now had the preview title removed from the Play store. The team at Microsoft have had high expectations for Outlook, and whilst enhancing the apps performance and removing bugs they named the app as a Preview.
The application brings some new and welcomed features that make it a lot different from the standard mail client on your Android. The app features IMAP support, a revised people section, directory searching, swipe gestures and much more; the majority of the new features and changes have been requested by the end users.
“We’ve continued to polish the look and feel of the app. We updated our icon sets and simplified our fonts to provide a more consistent Outlook experience across operating systems and devices. But it was also important for Outlook to feel like a natural part of Android. We use common Android design principles like the Navigation Drawer to house the multiple tools offered in the app and have common actions like settings available in the App Overflow menu,” Microsoft explains.
The Application is available to Android users running version 4.0 and higher. The latest version of the app is 1.1.9 and is available to download here

High amount of Android malware

Symantec's Internet Security Threat Report released

Symantec's latest Internet Security Threat Report claims that 17 percent of all Android apps are malware.

In 2013, Symantec uncovered roughly 700,000 virus-laden apps in Android. More than one third of all apps were what Symatec calls "grayware" or "madware" -- mobile software whose primary purpose is to bombard you with ads. It also found crypto-ransomware – software.
Not on Google Play

The apps were not found in the Google Play Store and Symantec does not break out how many of the million or so malware apps were found in the Play Store. In fact, Symantec admits the number is probably low.
"Google does a good job of keeping malware out of the Store," Haley says. "And if a malicious app does make it in there, they do a good job of finding it and getting rid of it."

On the other hand, if you visit alternate Android app markets, download apps from app maker's Websites, get them via email links, or find them on Bit Torrent sites, you run a much greater risk of infecting your phone, he adds.
Symantec used its Norton Mobile Insight software to crawl more than 200 Android app stores, downloading and analysing more than 50,000 apps and app updates each day in 2014.
Most of the malware found by Symantec tries to steal personal data like phone numbers and contact lists, which are then sold on

Report: 1 out of every 5 Google Android apps are malware in disguise

Even though mobile malware targeting the Google Android operating system is increasing, actual infection rates are still relatively low, according to cybersecurity experts. Unfortunately, it looks like almost 1 out of every 5 Android apps were "malware in disguise," according to the newest Symantec Internet Security Threat Report.

Over one-third of all Android apps are "madware," or "grayware," designed to increase the number of ads that a mobile user sees. In addition, Symantec noted the first infection by mobile ransomware, which encrypts data on a victim's phone until a ransom is paid.

Android, the No. 1 mobile OS based on market share, has an open infrastructure that makes it even more flexible to use by each phone manufacturer - but also gives cybercriminals the ability to create better malicious apps.

Making sure anti-malware software is an important first step, while also keeping downloads limited to the Google Play Store is important. "Google does a good job of keeping malware out of the Store," said Kevin Haley, director of security response at Symantec, published in a statement by Yahoo Tech. "And if a malicious app does make it in there, they do a good job of finding it and getting rid of it."

Google Rolls Out Custom Voice Actions, Third-Party App Support For 'OK Google'
Google is all about teaming up with third-party partners to improve its core services. We saw it earlier this week when Google added over 70 new apps to Google Now, including Spotify and Feedly, and now Google's voice actions is learning to play with others as the first set of partners for custom commands arrive on Android.

As explained the Android Developers' Google+ page, this new feature will allow users to say things like, "OK Google, listen to NPR" or "OK Google, show attractions near me on TripAdvisor." Rather than being directed to NPR's or TripAdvisor's respective websites, these commands now open the accompanying apps (assuming you have them installed) and perform the requested action.

"Google Voice Actions let users quickly complete tasks in your app using voice commands. It's another way to drive usage of your app with Google. Users' voice and text action requests can now lead directly to your Android app, so they can get to your native mobile experiences quickly and easily," Google explains.

Only select apps and commands are currently supported, including these:

• Flixster: "Show me Inception on Flixster."
• Instacart: "Show instacart availability."
• Lincoln: "Start my Lincoln MKZ."
• NPR One: "Listen to NPR."
• Realtor.com: "Show rentals near me on Realtor."
• Shazam: "Shazam this song."
• TripAdvisor: "Show attractions near me on TripAdvisor."
• Trulia: "Show homes for sale in Boston on Trulia."
• TuneIn Radio: "Open TuneIn in car mode."
• Walmart: "Scan my receipt on Walmart."
• Wink: "Activate home mode on Wink."
• Zillow: "Show me open houses nearby on Zillow.

Google's currently piloting additional custom voice actions and will open it up more widely in the future, the company said.
Researchers: Thousands of Android Apps Are Secretly Tracking, Snooping On Your Private Data

Anyone who has driven an Android smartphone any distance whatsoever has no doubt wondered whether any of the apps they use could be serving as information conduits. The relaxed vetting process that the Google Play Store has in place ('relaxed' versus the jailer-esque process in use by those minding Apple's app store) results in their stocking all but the most obviously malicious apps, after all, so a little suspicion in the mix just makes sense.

So is this neat new Find Parking app that just asked for location privileges pushing data on my movements into some database somewhere? Will personal data end up indelibly etched on a list (or two...or ten) if I use this app to buy the concert tickets from my phone?

Wonder no longer. Yes, many of those cute little apps we love to load onto your digital pocket pals ARE giving up the goods, covertly shooting off data to ad sites and user tracking sites, and in some cases even sites that are considerably more nefarious. Now, though, thanks to the work of a group of security researchers at Eurecom in France, Android users everywhere will soon be able to use an app to monitor the behavior of other apps on their smartphone and uncover precisely which sites they are being clandestinely connected to.

The new app, NoSuchApp ('NSA' for short, named "in honor of a similarly acronymed monitoring agency"), is the result of a massive research project that involved the downloading and installation of 2146 free apps from all 25 categories on offer in Google Play. Specifically, the researchers performed their analysis on the apps using a Samsung Galaxy SIII Mini smartphone running Android 4.1.2, which was configured to a local VPN that could be monitored for traffic activity, employing tcpdump to create a package for each individual application. Use of each application was simulated via a series of 1000 automated user interactions, with each packet capture processed with tshark to extract URLs. Those URLs were then compared against EasyList (an ad-related sites database) and EasyPrivacy (a user-tracking sites database) — two lists used by AdBlock Plus and other adblocking and anti-trafficking software — and also against Virustotal (a free virus, malware and URL online scanning service) for good measure, to ascertain the conclusions of the Eurecom study.

And the conclusions the group reached are chilling. Approximately 10% of the apps tested connected to more than 500 distinct URLs, with the worst offenders connecting to over 1,000 URLs each and about 100 top level domains. On the ad side, about two-thirds of the apps tested connect to an average of 40 ad URLs (with some connecting to over 1000) with Google-owned domains hovering near the top. Regarding user tracking sites, less than 30% make a connection, however some that connect do so with over 800 different trackers. To illustrate, the worst of the bunch — an app called Eurosport Player — connects to 810 tracking sites. The good news, though, if you can call it that, is that 94.4% of all of the URLs tested scored 0 with Virustotal, with the worst case for the outliers being that hits were recorded by three of the service's 52 different engines.

Android users who have read this far are no doubt gearing up to grab Eurecom's NoSuchApp app, to see just what kind of beneath-the-covers activities their smartphone apps are getting up to under their very noses. At this time, though, the app is not yet available on Google Play, and the DropBox link that Eurecom set up for NoSuchApp is temporarily disabled at this time due to excessive traffic (but do keep trying).

The Play Store Update Brings 600 New Apps to Android TV

Since the launch of the Android TV, app support and app discovery has been a serious problem for the platform. It had less than 200 apps to offer between the video, audio, and game sections. Now, however, Google is expanding its software catalogue, adding over 600 new apps via a Play Store update today for Android TV devices, including the Nexus Player. These are the only Android TV apps available, the rest had to be manually searched.
These new 600+ apps are categorised into 20 new sections that simplify the task of finding specific types of apps like movies, sports, news, multiplayer games and more and improves the app discovery. The update should be showing up on compatible devices now, and you’ll see the new content in the store navigation area of your device. Along with the Top App list, the standard apps are divided into Messaging, Photography, Media, and Tools & Utilities.
This updated Play Store version 5.5.15 should reach all the compatible platform soon if it has not reached you yet, you can sideload the same signed APK in no time. You can grab the APK from here and install it by uploading the APK to any supported cloud storage service like Google Drive and using the cloud storage function of ES File Explorer to load the app.
As Google does not release update notes for Play Store in a user-accessible way, under-the-hood changes are not known at the moment.

Google’s Play Store 5.6.8 Is Here – Download The APK Right Now

Google introduced several changes to its software platform this year, with the launch of Android M. The software giant finally heeded user calls for more control over apps and data, with an improved permission system. Through Android M, apps will ask for permissions when you access them of their features, rather than at the time of installation as was the norm before. In addition, custom tabs for Chrome will now allow apps to access the internet without opening up Chrome. It’s also the time of month when Google updates its Play Store, and you can finally download Play Store 5.5.8 as well.

Download Google Play Store 5.6.8 APK Right Here

Google has updated its Play Store and with the latest version you get several new updates on the platform. Play Store 5.6.8 features several bug updates that users have been demanding over a long time, and follows Google’s mantra of improved stability and performance introduced alongside Android M. In addition, Play Store has been upgraded with new wearable support and you should be seeing improved performance for your Android Wear devices as well.

At I/O this year Google announced several more features intended towards improving user experience for wearables. These include an all new launcher, coupled with GPS and Wi-Fi support as well as a screen lock. An all new Always On feature will also make your device display the time and other details 24/7, bringing its overall experience closer to a traditional watch. So Play Store 5.6.8 should end up improving your overall Android experience, whether you use a smartphone, tablet, Android Wear device or all three. The download link’s at the bottom of this post so click on it to download and install the latest Play Store. And let us know of any problems or features in the comments section below. Stay tuned for the latest updates.

The new Family Friendly section is now live on Google Play

Last month at I/O, Google announced a new Family Friendly approach to Google Play including age specific ratings, a family appropriate designation, as well as a series of new highlighted sections. That is now rolling out on Google Play on the web and Android devices, with Family sections popping up in just about every category including apps, movies, TV shows, books and more.
Inside of the Family Friendly apps and games section, Google has laid out some handy quick links for parents in the drop down menu. You’ll find everything from age based categories, as well as break-downs by genre, like action, adventure, arcade, card etc. In fact, there is an entire page with some editor selected titles, and apps categorized by popular children’s characters and franchises like Elmo, Dora the Explorer, Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles, Disney, LEGO and more.

Much of the same applies to the Movies & TV and Books categories, where you’ll find a new star designation to indicate whether Google deems the content family friendly or not. Region specific ratings still apply throughout. There is also a new IAP protocol in place that requires a password to be used on any family friendly content, whether your account is setup for one or not.
You should be seeing the new Family sections on your devices now, and be sure to head over to Google's support page for more detials.

Adobe Photoshop Mix, Brush CC, Color CC and Shape CC apps arrive for Android and iOS

Up to this point, Adobe has largely favored iOS over Google’s Android operating system with reference to its photo editing tools. That has all since changed as Adobe recently released four Creative Cloud apps to the Google Play store: Photoshop Mix, Brush CC, Color CC and Shape CC.
Photoshop Mix is Adobe’s general workhorse that replaces Photoshop Touch. With it, Android smartphone and tablet users will be able to perform basic non-destructive editing tasks like combining images, changing colors and contrast levels, apply preset filters and more.
Brush CC allows both beginners and professional users to turn their photos or graphics into brushes that can be used in Photoshop CC or Illustrator CC. Adobe Color CC, predictably, lets app users create color palettes by sampling colors in a scene for use in desktop apps like Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop. Shape CC converts images into vector graphics for Photoshop CC or Illustrator CC.
The apps are also available on iOS where you’ll find them free of charge (ditto for the Google Play store). And for those interested, Adobe also released Hue CC and Preview CC for iOS.
The apps are part of Adobe’s revised approach to mobile. Instead of trying to cram everything into a single app, the company is now content to develop dedicated, job-specific apps that focus on just one or perhaps a few Creative Cloud tasks.
